Abstract
A fundamental understanding of the electroanalytical activity of transition metal sulfide electrocatalysts, especially the origin of the electrocatalytic reactivity on the surface sites of heterostructures with multiple crystalline phases, is essential for the design of low-cost and highly efficient nonprecious metal electrocatalysts for further scientific and technological achievements. Herein, we injected P into NiS and occupied the S sites through a doping strategy. The redistributed electronic structure induced the construction of heterostructures, which significantly improved the structure and chemical state of electrochemically inert NiS. The phase-change mechanism between NiS and NiS2 synergistically catalyzes Pb(II), while the P and S sites jointly lose electrons. Moreover, the constructed heterojunction sensor shows the a sensitivity of 83.43 μA μM-1 to Pb(II) with a theoretical limit of detection of 48 nM, as well as excellent stability, reproducibility, and anti-interference ability. The accurate detection in real water further reveals the potential of this sensor for practical applications. This study provides a guiding strategy for improving electrochemically inert materials to design highly active electrocatalytic interfaces, which has important implications for the development of highly efficient electrode-sensitive materials similar to precious metals to achieve accurate electrical analysis.

Abstract
The highly toxic arsenite (As(III)) could cause serious cytotoxicity on metabolism, resulting in several diseases. However, it is still a great challenge on the precise sensing of As(III) in complicated conditions, especially in cellular environment. In this work, a nanoporous gold microelectrode (NPG-μE) was fabricated by a simple electrochemical alloying/dealloying method and developed for the electroanalysis of As(III) in the lung cancer cellular (A549 cells) environment. The as-fabricated NPG-μE exhibited the excellent electrochemical performance towards As(III) detection at physiological pH (0.1 M PBS solution, pH 7.4) with a high sensitivity of 5.07 μA ppb-1 cm-2 and a low limit of detection of 0.25 ppb (S/N = 3). The large surface area derived from the nanoporous structure, and the well-dispersed active sites as well as the highly electro-catalytic activity of gold played a critical role on the improved electrochemical behaviors. Furthermore, the effect of the exposure time on electrochemical monitoring As(III) in A549 cellular environment was successfully investigated, revealing the fatal impact of As(III) on cell cycle. This work offered a great trial on investigating of the cytotoxicity of arsenite and their precise detection in complicated cellular environment.

Abstract
Currently, heavy metal ion pollution in water is becoming more and more common, especially As (III), which is a serious threat to human health. In this experiment, a glassy carbon electrode modified with Fe3O4/MoS2 nanocomposites was used to select the square wave voltammetry (SWV) electrochemical detection method for the detection of trace As (III) in water. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were uniformly attached to the surface of MoS2 and were not easily agglomerated. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) showed that Fe3O4/MoS2 has higher sensitivity and conductivity. After optimizing the experimental conditions, the Fe3O4/MoS2-modified glassy carbon electrode exhibited high sensitivity (3.67 μA/ppb) and a low detection limit (0.70 ppb), as well as excellent interference resistance and stability for As (III).

Abstract
Constructing a sensitive and efficient sensor for determination of metronidazole (MNZ) is crucial in food field. Herein, a new cyclotriveratrylene-based metal-organic framework (MOF), namely, [Cd6L2(cyclen)2(H2O)2] (1), was constructed by self-assembly of functionalized 5,6,12,13,19,20-hexacarboxy-propoxy-cyclotriveratrylene (H6L), 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (cyclen) and Cd(II) cation under solvothermal condition. In 1, adjacent Cd(II) cations are linked by L6- to produce a 2D polymeric structure with carboxylate and phenolic oxygen atoms. To enhance conductivity of 1, it was combined with conducting carbon materials, including mesoporous carbon (MC), reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), respectively, producing a series of composite materials. Remarkably, electrochemical tests showed that 1@MWCNT(1:1) featured a much better electrochemical detection performance for metronidazole (MNZ) than 1@MC and 1@RGO. The linear range for the detection of MNZ is up to 0.4-500 μM and the limit of detection (LOD) for MNZ reached 0.25 μM. Importantly, the fabricated sensor 1@MWCNT(1:1) was employed for the detection of MNZ in honey and egg with satisfactory result. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) validated the high accuracy of the electrochemical method for the determination of honey and egg.

Abstract
Herein, a simple and portable electrochemical sensor based on a reduced graphene oxide/gold nanoparticle/manganese dioxide (rGO/AuNP/MnO2) nanocomposite-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) was constructed by the facile stepwise electrodeposition method and used for electrochemical detection of As(III). The resultant electrode was characterized for its morphological, structural, and electrochemical properties using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). From the morphologic structure, it can be clearly observed that the AuNPs and MnO2 alone or their hybrid were densely deposited or entrapped in thin rGO sheets on the porous carbon surface, which may favor the electro-adsorption of As(III) on the modified SPCE. It is interesting that the nanohybrid modification endows the electrode with a significant decrease in charge transfer resistance and an increase in electroactive specific surface area, which dramatically increases the electro-oxidation current of As(III). This improved sensing ability was ascribed to the synergistic effect of gold nanoparticles with excellent electrocatalytic property and reduced graphene oxide with good electrical conductivity, as well as the involvement of manganese dioxide with a strong adsorption property in the electrochemical reduction of As(III). Under optimized conditions, the sensor can detect As(III) via square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) with a low limit of detection of 2.4 μg L-1 and a linear range of 25-200 μg L-1. The proposed portable sensor shows the advantages of a simple preparation procedure, low cost, good repeatability, and long-term stability. The feasibility of rGO/AuNPs/MnO2/SPCE for detecting As(III) in real water was further verified.

Abstract
Organic field effect transistor (OFET) devices are one of the most popular candidates for the development of biochemical sensors due to their merits of being flexible and highly customizable for low-cost large-area manufacturing. This review describes the key points in constructing an extended-gate type OFET (EGOFET) biochemical sensor with high sensitivity and stability. The structure and working mechanism of OFET biochemical sensors are described firstly, emphasizing the importance of critical material and device engineering to higher biochemical sensing capabilities. Next, printable materials used to construct sensing electrodes (SEs) with high sensitivity and stability are presented with a focus on novel nanomaterials. Then, methods of obtaining printable OFET devices with steep subthreshold swing (SS) for high transconductance efficiency are introduced. Finally, approaches for the integration of OFETs and SEs to form portable biochemical sensor chips are introduced, followed by several demonstrations of sensory systems. This review will provide guidelines for optimizing the design and manufacturing of OFET biochemical sensors and accelerating the movement of OFET biochemical sensors from the laboratory to the marketplace.

Abstract
The development of efficient H2O2 sensors is crucial because of their multiple functions inside and outside the biological system and the adverse effects that a higher concentration can cause. This work reports a highly sensitive and selective non-enzymatic electrochemical H2O2 sensor achieved through the hybridization of Co3S4 and graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (GCNNS). The Co3S4 is synthesized via a hydrothermal method, and the bulk g-C3N4 (b-GCN) is prepared by the thermal polycondensation of melamine. The as-prepared b-GCN is exfoliated into nanosheets using solvent exfoliation, and the composite with Co3S4 is formed during nanosheet formation. Compared to the performances of pure components, the hybrid structure demonstrates excellent electroreduction towards H2O2. We investigate the H2O2-sensing performance of the composite by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and amperometry. As an amperometric sensor, the Co3S4/GCNNS exhibits high sensitivity over a broad linear range from 10 nM to 1.5 mM H2O2 with a high detection limit of 70 nM and fast response of 3 s. The excellent electrocatalytic properties of the composite strengthen its potential application as a sensor to monitor H2O2 in real samples. The remarkable enhancement of the electrocatalytic activity of the composite for H2O2 reduction is attributed to the synergistic effect between Co3S4 and GCNNS.

Abstract
Neural stem cell therapy has become a promising cure in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. Owing to the anisotropy of the nervous system, the newly derived neurons need not only the functional integrity but also the oriented growth to contact with the partner cells to establish functional connections. So the oriented growth of the newly derived neurons is a key factor in neural stem cell–based nerve regeneration. Nowadays, various biomaterials have been applied to assist in the oriented growth of neural stem cell–derived neurons. However, among these biomaterials, the magnetic materials applied in guiding the neuronal growth are still fewer than the other materials, such as the fibers. So in this work, we developed the magnetic nanochains to guide the oriented growth of neural stem cell–derived neurons. With the guidance of the magnetic nanochains, the seeded neural stem cells exhibited a good arrangement, and the neural stem cell–derived neurons showed well-oriented growth with the orientation of the nanochains. We anticipated that the magnetic nanochains would have huge potential in stem cell–based nerve regeneration.

Abstract
Arsenic is extremely abundant in the Earth’s crust and is one of the most common environmental pollutants in nature. In the natural water environment and surface soil, arsenic exists mainly in the form of trivalent arsenite (As(III)) and pentavalent arsenate (As(V)) ions, and its toxicity can be a serious threat to human health. In order to manage the increasingly serious arsenic pollution in the living environment and maintain a healthy and beautiful ecosystem for human beings, it is urgent to conduct research on an efficient sensing method suitable for the detection of As(III) ions. Electrochemical sensing has the advantages of simple instrumentation, high sensitivity, good selectivity, portability, and the ability to be analyzed on site. This paper reviews various electrode systems developed in recent years based on nanomaterials such as noble metals, bimetals, other metals and their compounds, carbon nano, and biomolecules, with a focus on electrodes modified with noble metal and metal compound nanomaterials, and evaluates their performance for the detection of arsenic. They have great potential for achieving the rapid detection of arsenic due to their excellent sensitivity and strong interference immunity. In addition, this paper discusses the relatively rare application of silicon and its compounds as well as novel polymers in achieving arsenic detection, which provides new ideas for investigating novel nanomaterial sensing. We hope that this review will further advance the research progress of high-performance arsenic sensors based on novel nanomaterials.
