Abstract
Cardiac lymphangioma is a characteristically benign primary neoplasm of the heart, previously reported only in a handful of cases. A right atrial lesion was found of a 56-years old healthy male patient. The lesion was surgically excised and identified as cardiac lymphangioma in postoperative pathological analysis. While open surgical tumor resection is preferred in patients with cardiac lymphangioma, preoperative characterization of suspected lesions may warrant conservative management in selected cases.

The Value of Fetal Heart Evaluation in Fetuses with Rare Congenital Lymphangiomas: A Cohort Study from a Single Tertiary Center across Two Decades (Years 1999-2020). J Clin Med 2022; 11:jcm11041035. Abstract
Lymphangiomas are uncommon, benign (from a histopathology viewpoint) malformations of the lymphatic system with thin-walled vessels; however, these tumors may be dangerous for fetal or neonatal life. They are observed in 1:6000 newborns at birth and in 1:750 spontaneous abortions. We aimed to investigate the role of fetal echocardiography in the prognosis of lymphangioma. Selected data of 19,836 pregnant women studied between 1999 and 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. In total, 32 cases of lymphangioma meeting the following criteria were further analyzed: (1) ultrasound availability from the 1st trimester of pregnancy and (2) nuchal translucency ≤ 2.5 mm. Echocardiographic findings, karyotype, size, and location of the possible lesion were juxtaposed with the clinical follow-up. The statistical analysis was performed using Statistica 13.1 software (StatSoft, Tulsa, OK, USA). Lymphangioma in the analyzed material coexisted with abnormalities in fetal echo in 78% (n = 25) of cases, especially: heart defect in 50% (n = 16) and with normal heart structure with functional changes in 28% (n = 9). Karyotype was available in 50% of the analyzed cases (n = 16). Normal cytogenetic results were observed in 62.5% (n = 10) of cases. In the remaining cases, the following were observed: Turner Syndrome: 25% (n = 4) and Down Syndrome 12.5% (n = 2). The rate of alive newborns was significantly higher among fetuses with isolated lymphangioma in comparison to those with lymphangioma associated with abnormal ECHO examination: 38.46% (n = 5) vs. 15.38% (n = 2; p = 0.037). Abnormal ECHO exam was a poor prognostic sign for fetuses with lymphangioma; therefore, we think it is important to refer these cases for detailed echocardiography in tertiary centers. Moreover, it should be highlighted that in all lymphangioma cases there was an indication to perform the karyotype assessment, as there was a high risk of aneuploidy.

Abstract
Lymphangiomas are comprised of aggregates of lymphatic vessels, considered to represent either aberrant embryogenic remnants or developing secondary to obstruction. Lymphangiomas primary to the heart and pericardial are exceedingly rare, and to date sparingly reported in individual case reports. In this study, the histopathologic, clinical, and radiologic features of 35 cases of cardiac/pericardial lymphangiomas described in the literature to date together with four cases from our own institution (39 cases in total) are examined to provide clinicopathologic characterization. Cardiac/pericardial lymphangiomas were identified in both children and adults, with two cases initially discovered in utero. If presenting with symptoms, patients most commonly exhibited respiratory distress/dyspnea. By X-ray, a widened cardiac silhouette could be noted, and echocardiogram generally showed an echogenic mass with cystic and septal components. On computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cystic and septal components were again observed, with CT showing an absence of calcifications or macroscopic fat. Most lymphangiomas were pericardial (specifically visceral) based, and frequently situated in the right atrioventricular groove. A majority of cases proceeded to surgical resection, with no evidence of recurrence post-operatively. Grossly, lesions had a median size of 6 cm and in almost all cases were multicystic/multilocular. Microscopically, the lymphangiomas were composed of lymphatic spaces lined by endothelial cells that specifically express podoplanin (D2-40) with immunoperoxidase staining. Further investigation with a larger and more uniformly organized cohort is required to better characterize the clinicopathologic features of lymphangiomas of this unusual anatomic location.

Abstract
Primary pericardial-based tumefactive lesions include pericardial cysts, mature teratomas, and lymphangiomas, and while benign they may result in clinical symptomatology that leads to their radiologic detection. We present the case of a 5-year-old boy with a heart murmur who was otherwise healthy and without significant medical history. Transthoracic echocardiogram, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging studies revealed a pericardial multicystic mass imparting compression upon the right atrium and ventricle. The case proceeded to surgery in which complete resection of the mass was performed without complication, and the patient was discharged three days after. Pathology examination of the lesion determined it to be a pericardial lymphangioma with characteristic histologic features of sequestered vascular channels lined by endothelium that specifically expressed lymphatic-specific podoplanin (also known as D2-40), and with associated adipose tissue, smooth muscle bundles, and reactive lymphoid aggregates. Although a rare underlying etiology for mediastinal and specifically pericardial tumors, lymphangiomas should be considered in the differential of tumefactive lesions in this anatomic location.

Abstract
Introduction: Cardiac tumors are significantly rare, with pericardial lymphangiohemangioma amongst the rarest cardiac tumor types, with very few reported cases in the literature. Clinically, lymphangiohemangiomas are generally deemed unresectable due to their proximity to the myocardium and the uncertainty of the outcomes following subtotal resection. Case Report: Herein, we report a case of a 40-year-old man diagnosed with a pericardial mass, dull thoracodorsal pain, and over a 10-years history of palpitation. Notably, the pericardial mass in the present case was found extended within the myocardium. Thus, a maximal safe resection was deemed preferable to a total resection. The surgically resected specimen showed pathological characteristics of a lymphangiohemangioma. After surgical resection of the lymphangiohemangioma, the patient was free of any tumor-related symptoms. Also, there was no evident tumor progression after a 4-year post-operative follow-up. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, the present case study is the first in the literature to report on a long-term post-operative outcome following subtotal resection of a pericardial lymphangiohemangioma.

Abstract
RATIONALE Cardiac lymphangioma is a rare disease. Until now, there have been only a few cases of cardiac lymphangioma reported in the literature. PATIENT CONCERNS We report the case of a 57-year-old female patient with cardiac lymphangioma from atrial septum. DIAGNOSIS Color Doppler echocardiography was performed, which revealed a tumor occupying a large amount of space in the left and right atrium. INTERVENTIONS The patient underwent thoracoscopic cardiac tumor resection under general anesthesia according to the procedure used for benign tumors. OUTCOMES The patient recovered completely and was discharged home. Follow-up color Doppler echocardiography scans obtained from 6 months to 2 years after the operation showed no recurrent mass. LESSONS Once the tumor is detected, surgical treatment should be implemented as soon as possible.
