Abstract
A novel synthetic pathway for synthesizing isocyanate-free polyurethanes is reported here. β-Amino alcohols were efficiently synthesized from the aminolysis of the epoxide ring of (R)-(+)-limonene oxide with different primary amines as nucleophiles and hot water as catalysts. The regio- and diastereoselectivities of the reactions were investigated and supported by computational studies. DFT calculations were performed to understand the experimental results more deeply. It confirmed the crucial roles of water molecules and the nature of the nucleophile in forming the products. The formation of the product is entirely driven by the free energy of activation that affects the reaction rate. Cyclic carbamates were prepared from β-amino alcohols using the dialkyl carbonate (DAC) chemistry. An oligourethane was obtained from Anionic Ring-Opening Polymerization (AROP) of a cyclic carbamate derived from (R)-(+)-limonene-oxide. All the products were characterized by employing 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies. The assignments of the signals in 1H and 13C NMR spectra were also supported by 2D NMR spectroscopy.

Abstract
Acid gases including CO2, OCS, CS2, and SO2 are emitted by industrial processes such as natural gas production or power plants, leading to the formation of acid rain and contributing to global warming as greenhouse gases. An important technological challenge is to capture acid gases and transform them into useful products. The capture of CO2, CS2, SO2, and OCS by ring expansion of saturated and unsaturated substituted nitrogen-strained ring heterocycles was computationally investigated at the G3(MP2) level. The effects of fluorine, methyl, and phenyl substituents on N and/or C were explored. The reactions for the capture CO2, CS2, SO2, and OCS by 3- and 4-membered N-heterocycles are exothermic, whereas ring expansion reactions with 5-membered rings are thermodynamically unfavorable. Incorporation of an OCS into the ring leads to the amide product being thermodynamically favored over the thioamide. CS2 and OCS capture reactions are more exothermic and exergonic than the corresponding CO2 and SO2 capture reactions due to bond dissociation enthalpy differences. Selected reaction energy barriers were calculated and correlated with the reaction thermodynamics for a given acid gas. The barriers are highest for CO2 and OCS and lowest for CS2 and SO2. The ability of a ring to participate in acid gas capture via ring expansion is correlated to ring strain energy but is not wholly dependent upon it. The expanded N-heterocycles produced by acid gas capture should be polymerizable, allowing for upcycling of these materials.

Abstract
The intramolecular N-Boc-epoxide cyclization leading to the formation of 1,3-oxazolidin-2-one and 1,3-oxazinan-2-one derivatives has scarcely been reported in the literature. More specifically, the intramolecular cyclization of N-Boc aniline-tethered 2,3-disubstitued epoxides has never been disclosed. Herein, we demonstrate that this reaction could proceed in a diastereoselective fashion in refluxing trifluoroethanol, in the absence of any external promoter or catalyst. Substrates bearing an alkyl group at the C-3 position furnished 1,3-oxazolidin-2-ones in a completely regioselective fashion via 5-exo epoxide ring-opening cyclization, thereby paving the way to synthesize alkyl side chain-bearing analogs of the antidepressant drug toloxatone. On the other hand, replacing the alkyl group with an aryl group resulted in easily separable mixtures of 1,3-oxazolidin-2-ones and 1,3-oxazinan-2-ones, the former being obtained as the major products. Remarkably, a tetralin-bearing substrate underwent fully regioselective 6-endo ring closure to form the corresponding 1,3-oxazinan-2-one. Our present study on the intramolecular ring opening-cyclization of epoxides with a tethered N-Boc group is the most comprehensive to date and features broad substrate scope, mild transition metal-free conditions, excellent functional group tolerance, and scalability.

Abstract
The intramolecular fluorocyclization of unsaturated carbamates is described here using a hypervalent iodine reagent in the presence of a silver catalyst. Both (hetero)aryl-substituted olefins and acrylamides can be utilized as effective substrates. Preliminary mechanistic investigations suggest that the reaction proceeds via a cyclization/1,2-(hetero)aryl migration/fluorination cascade involving an unusual radical process. Furthermore, starting from no-carrier-added [18F]TBAF, a simple one-pot, two-step cascade method was developed for the generation of 18F-labeled heterocycles with high radiochemical purity.

Abstract
AbstractA high yielding synthesis of 1,3-oxazinan-2-ones starting from 3-amino-1-propanols and ethylene carbonate (EC) in the presence of catalytic amount of triazabicyclodecene (TBD) is herein reported. The formation of six-membered cyclic carbonates was achieved by intermolecular cyclization reaction via double BAc2 mechanism. Cyclization reactions have been carried out in neat as EC acted both as solvent and reagent. Pure 1,3-oxazinan-2-ones were isolated in high yield by simple liquid-liquid extraction. Further purification can be achieved by recrystallization. The reaction resulted of general application on different substrates including an aryl bis(3-amino-proan-1-ol) compound.

Abstract
Abstract
Twenty-seven previously reported chalcones and their pyrazoline and hydrazone derivatives as well as two further chalcones have been screened for their antimicrobial, antifungal and antimycobacterial activities against standard microbial strains and drug resistant isolates. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of each compound was determined by a two-fold serial microdilution technique. The compounds were found to possess a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activities with MIC values of 8–128 μg/mL. One compound [(E)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-p-tolylprop-2-en-1-one] had equal activity with gentamycin (8 μg/mL) against Enterococcus faecalis. Chalcones were found to be more active than their hydrazone and 2-pyrazoline derivatives against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 and E. faecalis ATCC 29212.

Abstract
Reaction of α-substituted α-isocyanoacetates with phenyl vinyl selenones in the presence of a catalytic amount of base (DBU or Et3N, 0.05-0.1 equiv) followed by addition of p-toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA, 0.1-0.2 equiv) afforded 4,4,5-trisubstituted 1,3-oxazinan-2-ones in good to excellent yields. Enantiomerically enriched heterocycles can also be prepared using a Cinchona alkaloid-derived bifunctional organocatalyst for the Michael addition step. The phenylselenonyl group served as an activator for the Michael addition, a leaving group and a latent oxidant in this integrated reaction sequence.

Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common causes of nosocomial infections. The purpose of this study was the synthesis and in vitro evaluation of antimicrobial activity of 10 new 3-oxazolidin-2-one analogues on 12 methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) clinical isolates. S. aureus confirmation was achieved via catalase and coagulase test. Molecular characterization of MRSA was performed by amplification of the mecA gene. Antimicrobial susceptibility was evaluated via the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion susceptibility test protocol, using commonly applied antibiotics and the oxazolidinone analogues. Only (R)-5-((S)-1-dibenzylaminoethyl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one (7a) exhibited antibacterial activity at 6.6 μg. These results, allow us to infer that molecules such as 7a can be potentially used to treat infections caused by MRSA strains.

Abstract
Design and synthesis of a few novel methylamino piperidinyl substituted oxazolidinones are reported. Their antibacterial activities have been evaluated in a MIC assay against broader panel of both susceptible and resistant Gram-positive strains. (S)-N-{3-[3-Fluoro-4-(methyl-{1-[3-(5-nitrofuran-2-yl)-acryloyl]-piperidin-4-yl}-amino)-phenyl]-2-oxo-oxazolidin-5-ylmethyl}-acetamide 4i has shown comparable antibacterial activity to linezolid and eperezolid in the MIC assay, additionally compound 4i showed good antibacterial activity with an in vitro MIC value of 2-4 microg/mL against linezolid resistant Staphylococcus aureus (linezolid 16 microg/mL).
