Abstract
The irrational use of antibiotics is one of the biggest threats to public health, as recently highlighted in the documents from the World Health Organization. It includes both the choice of an inappropriate drug, dose, form, or length of therapy for the patient, and a lack of attention to the global cost of treatment. One of the effects of excessive and irrational use of antibiotics worldwide is the increasing number of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. The growing number of bacterial illnesses and deaths caused by this type of pathogens is of great significance, making the consequences of incorrect antibiotic use both medical and economic. In the rationalization of pharmacotherapy, the significant role of medical staff, including pharmacists, who have extensive knowledge in the field of antibiotic therapy, is emphasized. The main goal of the rational management of antimicrobial drugs should be to improve patient treatment outcomes and minimize the medical and economic consequences of antibiotic use. Antibiotic therapy rationalization programs are needed in all healthcare facilities, both in open care and in hospital settings. Educational interventions that target primary care physicians and physicians prescribing antibiotics in hospitals are necessary. Additionally, pharmacists, being the most accessible healthcare workers, can build awareness of rational antibiotic therapy among patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study evaluated drug use pattern among hospitalized children with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) in Nigeria. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A retrospective assessment of prescribed medicines for children aged 13 years and below who were admitted and treated for SARI from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018 was conducted. The WHO prescribing indicators and the Index of Rational Drug Prescribing were used to evaluate prescriptions. RESULTS A total of 259 patients were included, mostly diagnosed with bronchopneumonia (56%). A summary of WHO-core prescribing indicators showed the average number of drugs per encounter was 3.9, medicines prescribed by generic name was 82.1%, and an encounter with at least an antibiotic was 99.7%. The percentage of drugs prescribed from the Essential Medicine List for children was 79%. The most frequently prescribed pharmacological class of medicines was antibiotics (41.4%). Cephalosporins (40.0%), aminoglycosides (34.1%), and penicillins (21.5%) were the most commonly prescribed antibiotic classes. Gentamicin (34.1%) and cefuroxime (21.5%) were the most commonly prescribed antibiotics. CONCLUSIONS Drug prescribing for hospitalized children with SARI was suboptimal, especially with regard to polypharmacy, antibiotics, and injection use. Interventions to promote rational use of medicines including antimicrobial stewardship interventions are recommended.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is paucity of data describing the rate and quality indices of antibiotics used among hospitalized patients at continental level in Africa. This systematic review evaluated the pooled prevalence, indications, and types of antibiotics used in hospitals across Africa. METHODS Three electronic databases, PubMed, Scopus, and African Journals Online (AJOL), were searched using search terms. Point prevalence studies of antibiotic use in inpatient settings published in English language from January 2010 to November 2022 were considered for selection. Additional articles were identified by checking the reference list of selected articles. RESULTS Of the 7254 articles identified from the databases, 28 eligible articles involving 28 studies were selected. Most of the studies were from Nigeria (n = 9), Ghana (n = 6), and Kenya (n = 4). Overall, the prevalence of antibiotic use among hospitalized patients ranged from 27.6 to 83.5% with higher prevalence in West Africa (51.4-83.5%) and North Africa (79.1%) compared to East Africa (27.6-73.7%) and South Africa (33.6-49.7%). The ICU (64.4-100%; n = 9 studies) and the pediatric medical ward (10.6-94.6%; n = 13 studies) had the highest prevalence of antibiotic use. Community-acquired infections (27.7-61.0%; n = 19 studies) and surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP) (14.6-45.3%; n = 17 studies) were the most common indications for antibiotic use. The duration of SAP was more than 1 day in 66.7 to 100% of the cases. The most commonly prescribed antibiotics included ceftriaxone (7.4-51.7%; n = 14 studies), metronidazole (14.6-44.8%; n = 12 studies), gentamicin (n = 8 studies; range: 6.6-22.3%), and ampicillin (n = 6 studies; range: 6.0-29.2%). The access, watch, and reserved group of antibiotics accounted for 46.3-97.9%, 1.8-53.5%, and 0.0-5.0% of antibiotic prescriptions, respectively. The documentation of the reason for antibiotic prescription and date for stop/review ranged from 37.3 to 100% and 19.6 to 100%, respectively. CONCLUSION The point prevalence of antibiotic use among hospitalized patients in Africa is relatively high and varied between the regions in the continent. The prevalence was higher in the ICU and pediatric medical ward compared to the other wards. Antibiotics were most commonly prescribed for community-acquired infections and for SAP with ceftriaxone, metronidazole, and gentamicin being the most common antibiotics prescribed. Antibiotic stewardship is recommended to address excessive use of SAP and to reduce high rate of antibiotic prescribing in the ICU and pediatric ward.

Abstract
Background Adequate training in infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance is crucial for pharmacy students to participate in antibiotic stewardship programs and understand microbiology careers. Aim The study was carried out to assess the knowledge and self-reported confidence in antibiotic resistance, antibiotic therapy, and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) among final-year undergraduate pharmacy students in Sudan. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in three universities using a 57-item online questionnaire between April and May 2022. Results A total of 109 students (response rate 36%) participated and showed average knowledge scores of 5.6±1.7 (out of 10.0) for antibiotic resistance, 4.9±2.0 (out of 5.0) for appropriate antibiotic therapy, and 3.1±1.4 (out of 5.0) for AMS. No significant differences were observed among schools. Some students reported poor knowledge about antibiotic therapy and the consequences of resistance. One-third of students lacked confidence in interpreting microbiological results. Knowledge of antibiotic resistance among students' practice area after graduation was higher (p=0.017) and those interested in ID careers (5.8 vs 4.8) (p=0.037). Male students (5.6 vs 4.5) and those interested in ID careers (4.3 vs 3.4) (p<0.001) had higher scores of appropriate antibiotic therapy. Students attended antibiotic resistance courses (51.5 vs 45.2), and those interested in ID significantly had higher self-confidence (55.3 vs 45.8) (p=0.008). Conclusion Pharmacy students in Sudan have substantial knowledge of AMS and antibiotic resistance with poor knowledge of antibiotic therapy. Adequate training about infectious diseases and related topics is recommended to improve pharmacy students' understanding of microbiological findings, other competencies, and skills to incorporate in antimicrobial stewardship.

Abstract
For undergraduate pharmacy students, the first step of antimicrobial stewardship learning objectives is to integrate antimicrobial knowledge from the foundational sciences. We hypothesised that using a multidisciplinary approach including two sessions of tutorials could be relevant in term of students' interest, satisfaction and learning retention time. The evaluation of students' feelings was based on a questionnaire including different dimensions and three focus groups with four students. Quantitative data were analysed with the EPI-INFO 7.2 software and a thematic analysis was implemented for qualitative data by using NVivo 12 software. The evaluation of students' learning concerned both short-time learning retention (STLR) and medium-time learning retention (MTLR), six months after the last session. Overall, 63 students responded to the questionnaire. Most of them appreciated the tutorials according to the different dimensions envisaged. Focus groups confirmed the interest of students for the multidisciplinary approach, interactions with teachers and opportunities of learning transfers. Concurrently, a lack of self-efficacy, low confidence towards the other students, external regulation of motivation and poor autonomy were recorded for some participants. Finally, there was no significant decrease between the scores of the STLR assessment and those of the MTLR assessment (58.5 ± 12.1/100 and 54.4 ± 8.9/100, respectively).

Abstract
A low-cost, stable and non-precious metal catalyst for efficient degradation of tetracycline (TC), one of the most widely used antibiotics, has been developed. We report the facile fabrication of an electrolysis-assisted nano zerovalent iron system (E-NZVI) that achieved TC removal efficiency of 97.3% with the initial concentration of 30 mg L-1 at an applied voltage of 4 V, which was 6.3 times higher than the NZVI system without an applied voltage. The improvement caused by electrolysis was mainly attributed to the stimulation of corrosion of NZVI, which accelerated the release of Fe2+. And Fe3+ in the E-NZVI system could receive electrons to reduce to Fe2+, which facilitated the conversion of ineffective ions to effective ions with reducing ability. Moreover, electrolysis assisted to expand the pH range of the E-NZVI system for TC removal. The uniformly dispersed NZVI in the electrolyte facilitated the collection and secondary contamination could be prevented with the easy recycling and regeneration of the spent catalyst. In addition, scavenger experiments revealed that the reducing ability of NZVI was accelerated in the presence of electrolysis, rather than oxidation. TEM-EDS mapping, XRD and XPS analyses indicated that electrolytic effects could also delay the passivation of NZVI after a long run. This is mainly due to the increased electromigration, implying that the corrosion products of iron (iron hydroxides and oxides) are not formed mainly near or on the surface of NZVI. The electrolysis-assisted NZVI shows excellent removal efficiency of TC and is a potential water treatment method for the degradation of antibiotic contaminants.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Community pharmacists play a vital role in promoting appropriate use of antibiotics in the community. This study evaluated the practices and perceptions of community pharmacists towards antibiotic use, antibiotic resistance, and antimicrobial stewardship in Libya. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted among community pharmacists in Libya using a 47-item validated, pre-tested online questionnaire. Data was collected from December 2021 to February 2022 and was analysed using descriptive and inferential analyses. RESULTS Of the 114 questionnaires included in the analysis, 54.4% were females, 78.1% had < 10 year working experience (78.1%), and 81.6% had a Bachelor of Pharmacy. Most (78.1%) strongly agreed/agreed that community pharmacists have an important role to play to reduce antibiotic resistance. Overall, the participants had a moderate perception towards antimicrobial resistance (median score: 21.5; IQR [16-28] out of 35.0). More than 40% supply antibiotics when patients requested them specifically, because if they do not supply them, patients will just go to another pharmacy. About 47% strongly agreed/agreed that if a patient cannot afford a full course of antibiotics all in one go, they will give them a smaller amount that they are able to afford at that time, even when a longer duration of treatment is required. Most (66.7%) had no previous involvement in antibiotics awareness campaign due to 'I have never heard about the campaign' (48.7%) and 'I do not have enough time to participate' (22.4%). Overall, the perception towards antimicrobial stewardship was good (20 [13-25] out of 25.0). Raising awareness of rational antibiotic use, including antimicrobial resistance, among pharmacy students (83.4%) and patient education by pharmacists in community pharmacies at the time medicines are supplied to patients (81.6%) were the most common strategies to improve rational use of antibiotics in community pharmacy. CONCLUSIONS Community pharmacists in Libya recognise their role in reducing antimicrobial resistance. They had a moderate perception towards antimicrobial resistance and a good perception towards antimicrobial stewardship. However, inappropriate antibiotic practices were common. The most common strategies to improve rational use of antibiotics in community pharmacy were raising awareness about the rational antibiotic use among pharmacy students and patient education by community pharmacists at the time antibiotics are dispensed to patients. Regulations are needed to restrict dispensing antibiotics without prescription among community pharmacists.

Understanding of Final Year Medical, Pharmacy and Nursing Students in Pakistan towards Antibiotic Use, Antimicrobial Resistance and Stewardship: Findings and Implications. Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a leading public health threat, which is exacerbated by the high and inappropriate use of antibiotics. Consequently, there is a need to evaluate knowledge regarding antibiotic use, AMR and the readiness to implement antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) among final year medical, pharmacy and nursing students in Pakistan. This reflects the high and increasing rates of AMR in the country, and students as future healthcare professionals (HCPs). A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1251 final year students from 23 public and private educational institutions in Punjab. The majority of the surveyed participants possessed good knowledge of antibiotic use, AMR and the potential causes of AMR. The most common sources of the information on antibiotics were smartphones (69.9%), peers (35.9%) and medical textbooks (30.6%). However, most surveyed participants were not fully prepared to participate in ASPs. They knew, though, how to reduce AMR by educating HCPs about appropriate prescribing, implementing ASPs and improving laboratory facilities. There was a significant association between antibiotic knowledge and causes of AMR with sex, family income and student type (p < 0.05). Being a student at a public sector university (OR = 4.809; CI = 3.261−7.094; p < 0.001) and age (OR = 0.524, CI = 0.327−0.842; p < 0.008) were among the key factors impacting students’ training on ASPs. Educational curricula must be improved to include more information about appropriate antibiotic use and ASPs, along with sufficient training, workshops and clinical rotations in the final year, to fully equip students by graduation.

Abstract
This study evaluated the treatments, mortality rate and patient-related factors associated with mortality. This is a retrospective study involving hospitalised patients with infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli (CR-GNB) in a tertiary hospital in Malaysia from January 2018 to June 2020. A clinical pharmacist reviewed patients' electronic records and collected the data according to a pre-designed form. Data were analysed using both descriptive and inferential tests. The study included 145 patients with CR-GNB infections including 77, 40 and 28 Acinetobacter baumannii, enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively. The mean age was 57.9 ± 15.8 years. Pneumonia (40.7%) and bacteremia (25.5%) were the most common infections. Meropenem (24.7%) and piperacillin-tazobactam (20.4%) were the most commonly used empiric antibiotics while colistin (63.3%) and amikacin (8.3%) were the most common definitive antibiotics. The mean duration before active antibiotics was 4.6 ± 3.3 days. Overall, the in-hospital mortality rate was 41.4%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that intensive care unit (ICU) admission (adjusted odds ratio (AOR): 5.201; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.603-16.872; p = 0.006), sepsis/septic shock (AOR: 3.430; 95% CI: 1.021-11.522; p = 0.049) and elevated serum creatinine (AOR: 2.752; 95% CI: 1.005-7.536; p = 0.049) were independently associated with mortality. The mortality rate among patients with CR-GNB infection is high. A high rate of inappropriate antibiotic use was observed, including combination antibiotic therapy and delays in starting active antibiotics. Mortality was significantly associated with ICU admission, sepsis/septic shock and elevated serum creatinine.

Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major public health problem globally, and Ghana is no exception. Good knowledge regarding antibiotic use, AMR, and the concept of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) is critical among healthcare students to curb rising AMR rates in the future. Consequently, a need to ascertain this. A cross-sectional survey was undertaken among fifth-year pharmacy, medical students and fourth (final)-year nursing and physician assistantship students at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana to assess their knowledge on antibiotic use, AMR and AMS using a web-based self-administered structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, Fishers’ exact test, and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed. A total of 160 healthcare students were interviewed, of which 56.3% (n = 90) were male and 58.8% (n = 94) were in their fourth year of study. Good knowledge of antibiotic use, AMR, and AMS was associated with the study course (p = 0.001) and the number of years of study (p < 0.001). Overall, there were differences in the level of knowledge of antibiotics among the different healthcare students and their years of study. Efforts must now be made to enhance the curricula to ensure an improved and uniform transfer of knowledge of antibiotics, AMR, and AMS among the different healthcare students to sustain the fight against AMR in Ghana given growing concerns.

Abstract
The present study aimed to survey medical, nursing and pharmacy students' knowledge, attitude and practice regarding antimicrobial use and resistance. Additionally, the study assessed the teaching and assessment activities received regarding antibiotic use. A cross sectional online survey was distributed to undergraduate students currently in clinical studies in their degree program. A total of 716 medicine, nursing and pharmacy undergraduate students were included. Respondents scored more than 76% on knowledge on effective use, unnecessary use and associated side effects of antibiotics, and 65.2% regarding knowledge on the spread of antibiotic resistance. Some participants (21.0%) agreed or strongly agreed that there has been good promotion of prudent antimicrobial use. Students were aware (13.1%), unaware (29.1%), or unsure (57.8%) that there is a national action plan relating to antimicrobial resistance. A total of 62.8% of the respondents strongly agreed or agreed that they have a key role in helping control antibiotic resistance. Participants reported that they require more information about resistance to antibiotics (53.9%), medical conditions for which antibiotics are used (51.7%) and how to use antibiotics (51.0%). Discussion of clinical cases and vignettes and small group teaching were reported as very useful or useful teaching strategies (79.9% and 74.2%, respectively). The findings from this study determined the current situation in relation to education on prudent antimicrobial use for undergraduates and highlighted areas for informing better curriculum design.

Abstract
With the increasing use of antibiotics worldwide, antibiotic monitoring has become a topic of concern. After metabolizing of antibiotics in animals, the metabolites enter the environment through excreta or ingested by the human body via food chain that may exacerbate the emergence of antibiotic resistance and then threaten human's life. This article summarized several analytical methods used for the determination of antibiotics in recent 10 years. Due to the complex matrices and low concentration level of antibiotics in the food samples, a reliable analysis method is required to maximize the recovery rate. Several techniques like solid phase extraction (SPE), dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) and QuEChERS have been frequently used in the pretreatment process for analytes extraction and concentration. After the pretreatment, ultra-high performance liquid chromatography combined with mass spectrometry has been a reliable method for quantitative analysis and is able to determine multiple antibiotics simultaneously. This review also gives an overview about analytical conditions for antibiotics residues in different food samples and their method validation parameters.

Background
Extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) pathogens are associated with morbidity and mortality. There is a paucity of data describing the treatments and outcomes of ESBL infections in Malaysia. This study evaluated the treatments, mortality and associated factors among patients hospitalized with infections due to ESBL positive enterobacteriaceae. This is a retrospective study conducted in a tertiary hospital from January 2018 to June 2020. Hospitalized patients with ESBL-positive enterobacteriaceae infections were included. A clinical pharmacist collected data by reviewing the patients’ electronic medical records. The data were analysed using both descriptive and inferential analyses.
Results
This analysis included 110 patients with a mean age of 62.1 ± 14.4 years. Klebsiella pneumoniae (53.6%) and Escherichia coli (40.9%) were the most prevalent pathogens among the 110 infections. Bacteremia (42.7%) was the most frequent diagnosis. The isolates were resistant to majority of penicillins and cephalosporins. However, over a third (39.3%) were susceptible to piperacillin–tazobactam, while carbapenem susceptibility was extremely high (≥ 99%). The most frequently used empiric and definitive antibiotics was piperacillin–tazobactam and meropenem, respectively. Less than a third (28.2%) of patients received active empiric antibiotics, and the mean duration before active antibiotics was 3.9 ± 2.7. Overall, hospital mortality rate was 13.6%, and mortality was significantly associated with ICU admission (AOR 8.75; 95% CI 1.05–72.75; P = 0.045) and diabetes mellitus (AOR 9.85; 95% CI 1.04–93.09; P = 0.046).
Conclusions
Carbapenems are the major antibiotics used to treat ESBL-positive enterobacteriaceae infections. Hospital mortality rate is relatively high and is significantly associated with in patients admitted to ICU and those with diabetes mellitus. Antibiotic stewardship interventions are necessary to promote early administration of active antibiotics and to reduce overuse of carbapenem antibiotics.

Abstract
Background: Medical and pharmacy students are future healthcare professionals who will be on the forefront in dealing with antibiotics in hospitals or community settings. Whether the current medical and pharmacy education in Pakistan prepares students to take future roles in antibiotic use remains an under-researched area. Aim: This study aims to compare medical and pharmacy students’ perceived preparedness, learning practices and usefulness of the education and training on antibiotic use and resistance imparted during undergraduate studies in Pakistan. Design and Setting: It was amulti-centre cross-sectional survey of medical and pharmacy colleges in Punjab, Pakistan. Method: A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from final year medical and pharmacy students. Descriptive statistics were used for categorical variables while independent t-test and One-way ANOVA computed group differences. Result: Nine hundred forty-eight respondents (526 medical and 422 pharmacy students) completed the survey from 26 medical and 19 pharmacy colleges. Majority (76.1%) of the pharmacy students had not completed a clinical rotation in infectious diseases. The top three most often used sources of learning antibiotic use and resistance were the same among the medical and the pharmacy students; included textbooks, Wikipedia, and smart phone apps. Overall self-perceived preparedness scores showed no significant difference between pharmacy and medical students. The least prepared areas by medical and pharmacy students included transition from intravenous to oral antibiotics and interpretation of antibiograms. Both medical and pharmacy students found problem solving sessions attended by a small group of students to be the most useful (very useful) teaching methodology to learn antibiotic use and resistance. Conclusions: Differences exist between medical and pharmacy students in educational resources used, topics covered during undergraduate degree. To curb the growing antibiotic misuse and resistance, the concerned authorities should undertake targeted educational reforms to ensure that future physicians and pharmacists can play a pivotal role in rationalizing the use of antibiotics.

Abstract
The irrational use of antimicrobials has enormously contributed to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) globally and especially in the developing world. To assess the knowledge and perception regarding AMR and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in university students enrolled in pharmacy, veterinary, and biology programs by using an online self-administered questionnaire. The Chi-square and Fisher exact tests (where applicable) were performed to assess the association of the demographics with the students' knowledge and perception regarding AMR and AMS. A total of 496 students completed the questionnaire, among which, 85.7% of the participants were familiar with the term AMR and 79.4% of the participants correctly identified a poorly designed dosing regimen as a contributing factor towards AMR. The majority of participants (57.9%) were familiar with the term AMS and 86.5% were aware of the aim of AMS. The participants showed good knowledge regarding AMR and AMS, but to further improve student knowledge and perception of AMS and AMR, it is suggested that dedicated modules on antibiotic use and AMS should be incorporated into the curricula of these undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Abstract
Objective: Inappropriate use of antibiotics is one of the main causes of antibiotic resistance around the globe. The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices toward antibiotics and antibiotic resistance among consumers. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from April 2019 to September 2019. The participants visiting community pharmacies to buy the antibiotics were approached by data collectors. The descriptive analysis, Kruskal Wallis, and Mann-Whitney statistical tests were used for data analysis through SPSS. Results: 399 participants at three pharmacies with male (n = 352, 88.2%), age (years) group between 34 to 41(n = 138, 34.6%), uneducated (n = 128, 32.1%), and higher education (n = 76, 19.0%) level of the participants were noted. Poor to moderate knowledge were observed; participants were unaware of the risk and misuse of antibiotics at all three pharmacies. By some means, a positive attitude noted, but the storage of antibiotics at home (Median = 2, IQR = 2) was preferred to use when needed. Most of the respondents didn't follow the actual dosage regimen as prescribed (n = 266, 66.7%, p < 0.05). Conclusion: A lack of knowledge and malpractices toward antibiotics use among consumers were observed. Education and awareness of the public about antibiotic resistance is the need of the hour.

Knowledge and practices of community pharmacists towards non-prescription dispensing of antibiotics in Northern Nigeria. Int J Clin Pharm 2020; 42:756-764. Abstract
Background Non-prescription dispensing of antibiotics is common in Nigeria and this could contribute to the emergence of microbial resistance. Objectives To evaluate knowledge, perception and practices of community pharmacists towards dispensing antibiotics without prescription. Setting Community pharmacies in two cities in Northern Nigeria. Methods A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted among community pharmacists in two cities in Northern Nigeria, using a validated and pilot-tested questionnaire. The questionnaire was self-administered and data was collected between 06th April and 31st May 2019. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential analyses. Main outcome measure Knowledge, perception and practices towards dispensing antibiotics without prescription. Results A total of 98 out of 130 community pharmacists completed and returned the questionnaire (response rate: 75.3%). About two-third (64.3%) of the community pharmacists were aware that dispensing antibiotics without prescription is illegal. However, this malpractice was common as 39.7% of the respondents indicated that they dispensed antibiotics without prescription five times or more in a day. Antibiotics dispensed without prescription were used for the treatment of urinary tract infections (83.7%), typhoid fever (83.7%) and sexually transmitted infections (66.3%). Pharmacist's confidence in knowledge of antibiotic therapy was the most common reason for non-prescription dispensing of antibiotics. Respondents with less than 5 years of working experience (66.7%) were significantly more likely to dispense antibiotics without prescription 5 times or more in a day compared to those with more than 5 years community pharmacy experience (33.3%), P = 0.031. Conclusion Non-prescription dispensing of antibiotics was common among community pharmacists despite awareness about its prohibition and implications. The malpractice was associated with number of years of community pharmacy experience. Confidence in knowledge of antibiotic therapy was the main reason community pharmacists dispensed antibiotics without prescription. Continuous pharmacy education and training on handling of antibiotics may help to reduce inappropriate practices among community pharmacists.
