Abstract
To acquire substantial electrochemical signals of guanine-GUA and adenine-ADE present in deoxyribonucleic acid-DNA, it is critical to investigate innovative electrode materials and their interfaces. In this study, gold-loaded boron-doped graphene quantum dots (Au@B-GQDs) interface was prepared via ultrasound-aided reduction method for monitoring GUA and ADE electrochemically. Transmission electron microscopy-TEM, Ultraviolet-Visible spectroscopy-UV-Vis, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy-XPS, cyclic voltammetry-CV, and differential pulse voltammetry-DPV were used to examine the microstructure of the fabricated interfaceand demonstrate its electrochemical characteristics. The sensor was constructed by depositing the as-prepared Au@B-GQDs as a thin layer on a glassy carbon-GC electrode by the drop-casting method and carried out the electrochemical studies. The resulting sensor exhibited a good response with a wide linear range (GUA = 0.5-20 μM, ADE = 0.1-20 μM), a low detection limit-LOD (GUA = 1.71 μM, ADE = 1.84 μM), excellent sensitivity (GUA = 0.0820 µAµM-1, ADE = 0.1561 µAµM-1) and selectivity with common interferents results from biological matrixes. Furthermore, it seems to have prominentselectivity, reproducibility, repeatability, and long-lastingstability. The results demonstrate that the fabricated Au@B-GQDs/GC electrode is a simple and effective sensing platform for detecting GUA and ADE in neutral media at low potential as it exhibited prominent synergistic impact and outstanding electrocatalytic activity corresponding to individual AuNPs and B-GQDs modified electrodes.

Recent Developments in Carbon Nanotubes-Reinforced Ceramic Matrix Composites: A Review on Dispersion and Densification Techniques. CRYSTALS 2021. Abstract
Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) are well-established composites applied on commercial, laboratory, and even industrial scales, including pottery for decoration, glass–ceramics-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs), commercial cooking utensils, high-temperature laboratory instruments, industrial catalytic reactors, and engine turbine blades. Despite the extensive applications of CMCs, researchers had to deal with their brittleness, low electrical conductivity, and low thermal properties. The use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as reinforcement is an effective and efficient method to tailor the ceramic structure at the nanoscale, which provides considerable practicability in the fabrication of highly functional CMC materials. This article provides a comprehensive review of CNTs-reinforced CMC materials (CNTs-CMCs). We critically examined the notable challenges during the synthesis of CNTs-CMCs. Five CNT dispersion processes were elucidated with a comparative study of the established research for the homogeneity distribution in the CMCs and the enhanced properties. We also discussed the effect of densification techniques on the properties of CNTs-CMCs. Additionally, we synopsized the outstanding microstructural and functional properties of CNTs in the CNTs-CMCs, namely stimulated ceramic crystallization, high thermal conductivity, bandgap reduction, and improved mechanical toughness. We also addressed the fundamental insights for the future technological maturation and advancement of CNTs-CMCs.

Abstract
Imbalance in the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters have manifested in severe health issues. Electrochemical sensors have been designed for their determination, with good sensitivity recorded. Carbon-based quantum dots have proven to be an important component of electrochemical sensors due to their high conductivity, low cytotoxicity and opto-electronic properties. The quest for more sensitive electrodes with cheaper materials led to the development of electrochemical sensors based on carbon-based quantum dots for the detection of neurotransmitters. The importance of monoamine neurotransmitters (NTs) and the good electrocatalytic activity of carbon and graphene quantum dots (CQDs and GQDs) make the review of the efforts made in the design of such sensors for monoamine NTs of huge necessity. The differences and the similarities between these two quantum dots are highlighted prior to a discussion of their application in electrochemical sensors over the last ten years. Compared to other monoamine NTs, dopamine (DA) was the most studied with GQDs and CQD-based electrochemical sensors.

Abstract
By introduction of Mo metal species (molybdenum-based polyoxometalates) into the Cu-MOF as co-precursor, molybdenum carbide nanosphere (MoxC@C) was prepared via a simple calcining routine and a further etching the metallic Cu process. The obtained MoxC@C showed a unique structure where well-dispersed MoxC nanoparticles (NPs) were encapsulated in porous carbon matrix. As-fabricated novel 3D porous architecture MoxC@C nanosphere exhibited a potent and persistent electro-oxidation behavior followed by well-separated oxidation peaks (peak to peak voltage is about 350 mV) toward adenine (A) and guanine (G) by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). This excellent electrochemical performance can be attributed to the unique structure and composition of 3D MoxC@C. Furthermore, 3D MoxC@C also revealed high selectivity and sensitivity, good reproducibility, excellent stability and anti-interference ability. The calibration curves for quantitive analysis of G and A were obtained: 0.03-122 µM, and 0.02-122 µM, respectively, the detection limits were 0.0085 µM, 0.008 µM, respectively. The proposed procedure was successfully applied to detect G and A in human urine and serum samples with satisfactory recovery, which manifests its viability application for practical analysis.

Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) coated Fe3O4 based inorganic-organic hybrid materials (represented as Fe3O4/ILs) were synthesized. ILs such as methylimidazolium chloride ([Hmim][Cl]) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Bmim][Cl]) were investigated. For comparative study, quaternary ammonium salts such as choline chloride, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide [C16H33N(CH3)3][Br], and trimethylstearylammonium chloride [C18H37N(CH3)3][Cl] were also investigated. Materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen sorption, Fourier transform infrared and scanning/transmission electron microscopy. Electrochemical sensors based on Fe3O4/ILs modified glassy carbon electrodes were fabricated for the simultaneous determination of all four DNA bases. The electrochemical behavior of DNA bases was investigated in detail. Various reaction parameters such as effect of scan rate, number of electrons involved in the rate determining step, electron transfer coefficient, surface adsorbed concentration, and the electrode reaction standard rate constant were investigated. Catalytic activity obtained at various Fe3O4/ILs modified electrodes was explained using DFT calculation. The analytical performance of the sensor was demonstrated in the simultaneous determination of guanine, adenine, thymine, and cytosine in calf thymus DNA sample.

Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of nucleobases has been studied in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution at pH 7.4, using a bare graphite electrode. Guanine and adenine produced well-defined oxidation peaks at about +0.63 and +0.91 V at 100 mV/s, respectively. Nucleobases exhibit an irreversible and hybrid-controlled electrochemical process, including adsorption and diffusion. The nucleobase oxidation peaks shift due to the selective interactions of nucleobases with each other. The oxidation peaks for three different pyrimidine bases, uracil, cytosine, and thymine, can be clearly identified at +1.26, +1.41, and +1.32 V, respectively. These differences in the electrochemical behavior among nucleobases can be attributed to their different chemical structures.
