Abstract
Detecting low nitrogen dioxide concentrations (NO2) is crucial for environmental monitoring. In this paper, we report the synergistic effect of decorating nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide (N-rGO) with nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles for developing highly selective and sensitive chemiresistive NO2 gas sensors. The N-rGO/NiO sensor was synthesized straightforwardly, ensuring uniform decoration of NiO nanoparticles on the N-rGO surface. Comprehensive characterization using SEM, TEM, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the successful integration of NiO nanoparticles with N-rGO and revealed key structural and morphological features contributing to its enhanced sensing performance. As a result, the NiO/N-rGO nanohybrids demonstrate a significantly enhanced response five orders of magnitude higher than that of N-rGO toward low NO2 concentrations (<1 ppm) at 100 °C. Moreover, the present device has an outstanding performance, high sensitivity, and low limit of detection (<1 ppb). The findings pave the way for integrating these sensors into advanced applications, including environmental monitoring and IoT-enabled air quality management systems.

Abstract
Laccase is well-known for its eco-friendly applications in environmental remediation and biotechnology, but its high cost and low stability have limited its practical use. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop efficient laccase mimetics. In this study, a novel laccase-mimicking nanozyme (MBI-Cu) was successfully synthesized using 2-methylbenzimidazole (MBI) coordinated with Cu2+ by mimicking the copper active site and electron transfer pathway of natural laccase. MBI-Cu nanozyme exhibited excellent catalytic activity and higher stability than laccase, and was utilized to oxidize a series of phenolic compounds. Environmental pollutant aminophenol isomers were found to display different color in solution when catalytically oxidized by MBI-Cu, which provided a simple and feasible method to identify them by the naked eye. Based on the distinct absorption spectra of the oxidized aminophenol isomers, a colorimetric method for quantitatively detecting o-AP, m-AP, and p-AP was established, with detection limits of 0.06 μM, 0.27 μM, and 0.18 μM, respectively. Furthermore, by integrating MBI-Cu-based cotton pad colorimetric strips with smartphone and utilizing color recognition software to identify and analyze the RGB values of the images, a portable colorimetric sensing platform was designed for rapid detection of aminophenol isomers without the need for any analytical instrument. This work provides an effective reference for the design of laccase nanozymes and holds significant potential for applications in the field of environmental pollutant monitoring.

Abstract
A highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor for ethanol based on a screen-printed electrode modified with gold nanoparticles-electrochemically reduced graphene oxide-poly (allylamine hydrochloride) nanocomposite (AuNPs-ERGO-PAH) is reported in this work. Ethanol was oxidized in the presence of the oxidized form of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in a reaction catalyzed by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) immobilized in sol-gel. The AuNPs-ERGO-PAH nanocomposite was used as a transducer for the electrocatalytic oxidation of the reduced form the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) produced in the enzyme reaction. Under the optimal conditions, the ethanol biosensor exhibits a wide dynamic range from 0.05 to 5 mM with a low detection limit of 10 µM (S/N = 3) and a high sensitivity of 44.6 ± 0.07 µA/mM·cm2 for the linear range between 0.05 and 0.2 mM. The biosensor response was stable for up to 6 weeks. Furthermore, the developed biosensor has been used to detect ethanol in alcoholic beverages with good results, suggesting its potential application in various fields, including fermentation processes and food quality control.

Effective photodegradation of antibiotics by guest-host synergy between photosensitizer and bismuth vanadate: Underlying mechanism and toxicity assessment. CHEMOSPHERE 2023; 325:138362. Abstract
The removal of antibiotics in wastewater has attracted increasing attention. Herein, a superior photosensitized photocatalytic system was developed with acetophenone (ACP) as the guest photosensitizer, bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) as the host catalyst and poly dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride (PDDA) as the bridging complex, and used for the removal of sulfamerazine (SMR), sulfadiazine (SDZ) and sulfamethazine (SMZ) in water under simulated visible light (λ > 420 nm). The obtained ACP-PDDA-BiVO4 nanoplates attained a removal efficiency of 88.9%-98.2% for SMR, SDZ and SMZ after 60 min reaction and achieved kinetic rate constant approximately 10, 4.7 and 13 times of BiVO4, PDDA-BiVO4 and ACP-BiVO4, respectively, for SMZ degradation. In the guest-host photocatalytic system, ACP photosensitizer was found to have a great superiority in enhancing the light absorption, promoting the surface charge separation-transfer and efficient generation of holes (h+) and superoxide radical (·O2-), greatly contributing to the photoactivity. The SMZ degradation pathways were proposed based on the identified degradation intermediates, involving three main pathways of rearrangement, desulfonation and oxidation. The toxicity of intermediates was evaluated and the results demonstrated that the overall toxicity was reduced compared with parent SMZ. This catalyst maintained 92% photocatalytic oxidation performance after five cyclic experiments and displayed a co-photodegradation ability to others antibiotics (e.g., roxithromycin, ciprofloxacin et al.) in effluent water. Therefore, this work provides a facile photosensitized strategy for developing guest-host photocatalysts, which enabling the simultaneous antibiotics removal and effectively reduce the ecological risks in wastewater.

Abstract
The aim of this research is to develop an electrochemical sensor based on a conducting polymer, polyaniline, and a cationic polymer, poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride), reinforced with graphene oxide nanosheets functionalized with acrylic acid. The two-dimensional nature of acrylic acid functionalized graphene oxide nanosheets and clusters made of conductive polymers and acrylic acid functionalized graphene oxide nanosheets were confirmed by microscopic tests. The prepared nanocomposite was deposited on the glassy carbon electrode in order to prepare an electrochemical sensor for the detection of arsenic by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry methods. It should be mentioned that the presence of acrylic acid functionalized graphene oxide nanosheets increases the surface area due to the nano size effect and better dispersion of this nanomaterial, poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride), increases the adsorption capacity of the analyte due to electrostatic interaction between the negatively charged analyte and positively charged surface, and polyanilin increases the charge transfer rate due to the good conductivity. The results show that the prepared electrode has a sensitivity equal to 1.79 A/M with 0.12 μM as the detection limit. The proposed sensor could be used for the determination of total inorganic arsenic by first oxidative pretreatment for conversion of As(III) to As(V).

Abstract
Acetaminophen is a widely used analgesic throughout the world. Detection of acetaminophen has particular value in pharmacy and clinics. Electrochemical sensors assembled with advanced materials are an effective method for the rapid detection of acetaminophen. Graphene-based carbon nanomaterials have been extensively investigated for potential analytical applications in the last decade. In this article, we selected papers containing both graphene and acetaminophen. Bibliometrics was used to analyze the relationships and trends among these papers. The results show that the topic has grown at a high rate since 2009. Among them, the detection of acetaminophen by an electrochemical sensor based on graphene is the most important direction. Graphene has moved from being a primary sensing material to a substrate for immobilization of other active ingredients. In addition, the degradation of acetaminophen using graphene-modified electrodes is also an important direction. We analyzed the research history and current status of this topic through bibliometrics. Authors, institutions, countries, and key literature were discussed. We also proposed perspectives for this topic.

Abstract
The polyelectrolyte (PE)-based water dispersion of graphene-related materials (GRMs) represents an interesting intermediate for the development of advanced materials by sustainable processes. Although the proof of concept has been demonstrated, there is a lack of knowledge for what concerns the effects of parameters typical of PEs such as functionalization, molecular weight, and charge density. In this work, we evaluate the effects of such parameters on the quality and long-term stability of reduced graphite oxide (rGO) dispersion in aqueous media prepared by ultrasound sonication in the presence of different PEs. Four PEs were evaluated: polyacrylic acid (PAA), branched poly(ethylenimine) (BPEI), sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonic acid) (PSS). The prepared dispersions were thoroughly characterized by means of UV-visible spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic light scattering, and Raman spectroscopy. The highest concentrations of rGO were achieved by BPEI with a molecular weight of 25,000 and 270,000 Da (33 and 26 µg/mL, respectively). For other PEs, the rGO concentration was found to be independent of the molecular weight. The PAA-based dispersions displayed the best through-time stability while yielding homogeneous dispersion with a smaller average size and narrower size distribution.

Abstract
The development of sensing coatings, as important sensor elements that integrate functionality, simplicity, chemical stability, and physical stability, has been shown to play a major role in electrochemical sensing system development trends. Simple and versatile assembling procedures and scalability make polyelectrolytes highly convenient for use in electrochemical sensing applications. Polyelectrolytes are mainly used in electrochemical sensor architectures for entrapping (incorporation, immobilization, etc.) various materials into sensing layers. These materials can often increase sensitivity, selectivity, and electronic communications with the electrode substrate, and they can mediate electron transfer between an analyte and transducer. Analytical performance can be significantly improved by the synergistic effect of materials (sensing material, transducer, and mediator) present in these composites. As most reported methods for the preparation of polyelectrolyte-based sensing layers are layer-by-layer and casting/coating methods, this review focuses on the use of the latter methods in the development of electrochemical sensors within the last decade. In contrast to many reviews related to electrochemical sensors that feature polyelectrolytes, this review is focused on architectures of sensing layers and the role of polyelectrolytes in the development of sensing systems. Additionally, the role of polyelectrolytes in the preparation and modification of various nanoparticles, nanoprobes, reporter probes, nanobeads, etc. that are used in electrochemical sensing systems is also reviewed.

Abstract
A novel electrochemically activated nanocomposite, CoS2 Nanoparticles and MoS2 Nanosheets decorated poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)-functionalized graphene (CoS2-MoS2-PDDA-GR), was successfully synthesized through a simple and low-cost method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques were used to characterize the nanocomposites. Based on the CoS2-MoS2-PDDA-GR nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode, the electrochemical properties of eriocitrin were investigated in detail and a sensitive determinative method was established synchronously. Compared with others, this sensor exhibited larger effective surface area, more reactive site and excellent voltammetric response for eriocitrin. Under optimum conditions by DPV, the oxidation peak currents responded to eriocitrin linearly over a concentration range from 2.0 × 10-9 to 1.0 × 10-6 mol L-1 with a detection limit of 6.7 × 10-10 mol L-1 (S/N = 3). In addition, this fabricated sensor was successfully applied to detect eriocitrin in real samples with satisfactory results.
