Abstract
Plants, anchored throughout their life cycles, face a unique set of challenges from fluctuating environments and pathogenic assaults. Central to their adaptative mechanisms are transcription factors (TFs), particularly the AP2/ERF superfamily-one of the most extensive TF families unique to plants. This family plays instrumental roles in orchestrating diverse biological processes ranging from growth and development to secondary metabolism, and notably, responses to both biotic and abiotic stresses. Distinguished by the presence of the signature AP2 domain or its responsiveness to ethylene signals, the AP2/ERF superfamily has become a nexus of research focus, with increasing literature elucidating its multifaceted roles. This review provides a synoptic overview of the latest research advancements on the AP2/ERF family, spanning its taxonomy, structural nuances, prevalence in higher plants, transcriptional and post-transcriptional dynamics, and the intricate interplay in DNA-binding and target gene regulation. Special attention is accorded to the ethylene response factor B3 subgroup protein Pti5 and its role in stress response, with speculative insights into its functionalities and interaction matrix in tomatoes. The overarching goal is to pave the way for harnessing these TFs in the realms of plant genetic enhancement and novel germplasm development.

Abstract
Low temperature storage is widely used for storage and transportation of fruits and vegetables after harvest. As a cold-sensitive fruit vegetable, post-harvest solanaceous vegetables and fruits are susceptible to chilling injury during low temperature storage, which reduces its sensory quality and edible quality and shortens its storage period, thus leading to huge economic losses. Therefore, it is an essential to clarify the occurrence mechanism of chilling injury caused by low temperature storage in solanaceous vegetables and fruits, and to propose corresponding prevention and control measures for chilling injury. In recent years, a series of progress has been made in the research on chilling injury prevention and control and low temperature stress tolerance of solanaceous vegetables and fruits. This paper describes the chilling injury symptoms of postharvest solanaceous vegetables and fruits, clarifies the physiological and biochemical mechanisms in the chilling injury process, the molecular mechanisms, and prevention and control measures, and summarizes the latest research advancements on chilling injury and chilling tolerance regulation of solanaceous vegetables and fruits, which can provide valuable references for low temperature storage and chilling injury prevention and control measures of solanaceous vegetables and fruits.

Abstract
Post-harvest pre-cooling of water bamboo shoots (WBS) [Zizania latifolia] can effectively delay its quality deterioration. Six types of pre-cooling treatments were used to pre-cooling post-harvest WBS, including cold slightly acidic electrolytic water pre-cooling (CSAEW), cold water pre-cooling (CWPC), vacuum pre-cooling (VPC), strong wind pre-cooling (SWPC), refrigerator pre-cooling (RPC), and fluid ice pre-cooling (FIPC). The effects of different pre-cooling treatments on the quality of refrigerated WBS were investigated. The results showed that the FIPC treatment was harmful to the storage quality of WBS, while the other five pre-cooling treatments could extend the shelf life of WBS to some extent. These pre-cooling treatments can inhibit the respiration of WBS, slow down its weight loss and lignification process, and maintain its relatively high levels of nutrient content and antioxidant activity. The CSAEW treatment outperformed other treatments in terms of bactericidal action and microbiological content control for WBS during storage. The protective effect of CSAEW treatment on the storage quality of WBS was relatively the best, and extended the shelf life of WBS by 12 days compared to the control group. This study indicated that the CSAEW pre-cooling treatment offers a new choice for pre-cooling root vegetables.

Abstract
The yield and quality of pepper are considerably influenced by the cold conditions. Herein, we performed morphological, physiological and transcriptomic analyses by using two pepper seedlings, '2379' (cold-resistant) and '2380' (cold-sensitive). Briefly, 60 samples from each cultivar were analyzed at four distinct time points (0, 6, 24 and 48 h) at 5 °C in darkness. The physiological indices and activities of enzymes exhibited marked differences between the two cultivars. Transcriptomic analysis indicated that, compared to the control group, 11,415 DEGs were identified in '2379' and '2380' at 24 h. In the early stage, the number of DEGs in '2379' was 5.68 times higher than that in '2380', potentially explaining the observed differences in tolerance to colds. Processes such as protein targeting to membranes, jasmonic acid (JA)-mediated signalling, cold response and abscisic acid-activated signalling were involved. Subsequently, we identified a hub gene, CaAOS, that is involved in JA biosynthesis, positively influences cold tolerance and is a target of CaMYC2. Variations in the GC-motif of the CaAOS's promoter may influence the expression levels of CaAOS under cold treatment. The result of this study may lead to the development of more effective strategies for enhancing cold tolerance, potentially benefitting pepper breeding in cold regions.

Abstract
Apple is an important horticultural crop, but various adverse environmental factors can threaten the quality and yield of its fruits. The ability of apples to resist stress mainly depends on the rootstock. Malus baccata (L.) Borkh. is a commonly used rootstock in Northeast China. In this study, it was used as the experimental material, and the target gene MbWRKY53 was screened through transcriptome analysis and Real-Time Quantitative Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR) after cold and drought treatment. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that this transcription factor (TF) belonged to the WRKY TF family, and its encoded protein was localized in the nucleus. RT-qPCR showed that the gene was more easily expressed in roots and young leaves and is more responsive to cold and drought stimuli. Functional validation in Arabidopsis thaliana confirmed that MbWRKY53 can enhance plant tolerance to cold and drought stress. Furthermore, by analyzing the expression levels of genes related to cold and drought stress in transgenic Arabidopsis lines, it was inferred that this gene can regulate the expression of stress-related genes through multiple pathways such as the CBF pathway, SOS pathway, Pro synthesis pathway, and ABA-dependent pathways, enhancing the adaptability of transgenic Arabidopsis to cold and drought environments.

Abstract
Chilling sensitivity is one of the greatest challenges affecting the marketability and profitability of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) in the US and worldwide. Currently, there are no sweet basils commercially available with significant chilling tolerance and traditional aroma profiles. This study was conducted to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) responsible for chilling tolerance and aroma compounds in a biparental mapping population, including the Rutgers advanced breeding line that served as a chilling tolerant parent, 'CB15', the chilling sensitive parent, 'Rutgers Obsession DMR' and 200 F2 individuals. Chilling tolerance was assessed by percent necrosis using machine learning and aroma profiling was evaluated using gas chromatography (GC) mass spectrometry (MS). Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers were generated from genomic sequences derived from double digestion restriction-site associated DNA sequencing (ddRADseq) and converted to genotype data using a reference genome alignment. A genetic linkage map was constructed and five statistically significant QTLs were identified in response to chilling temperatures with possible interactions between QTLs. The QTL on LG24 (qCH24) demonstrated the largest effect for chilling response and was significant in all three replicates. No QTLs were identified for linalool, as the population did not segregate sufficiently to detect this trait. Two significant QTLs were identified for estragole (also known as methyl chavicol) with only qEST1 on LG1 being significant in the multiple-QTL model (MQM). QEUC26 was identified as a significant QTL for eucalyptol (also known as 1,8-cineole) on LG26. These QTLs may represent key mechanisms for chilling tolerance and aroma in basil, providing critical knowledge for future investigation of these phenotypic traits and molecular breeding.

Abstract
Low temperature storage is widely used in the storage and transportation of postharvest fruits and vegetables. However, the negative effects of chilling injury (CI) on certain fruits and vegetables cannot be ignored. Therefore, efficient CI prevention technologies were used for reducing CI. This paper expounds the mechanisms of CI, common symptoms of CI and its impacts on the quality of fruits and vegetables, and summarizes the application of CI prevention technology. CI control methods are mainly classified into physical treatments (hot shock, near-freezing storage, high relative humidity storage, light-proof storage, and electromagnetic field), chemical treatments (melatonin, 1-methylcyclopropene, astragalus polysaccharides, γ-aminobutyric acid, 24-epibrassinolide, methyl jasmonate, trisodium phosphate, glycine betaine, and salicylic acid, etc.), coating treatments (sodium alginate, chitosan, carboxymethyl cellulose and aloe vera gel, etc.) and their combined treatments. These treatments have enhanced antioxidant activity, enzyme activity, membrane system integrity, and energy levels, thereby reducing the CI of fruits and vegetables.

Abstract
Pressure spray combined with high-voltage electrospray (PS-ES) has garnered considerable interest as a novel, non-thermal approach for microbial inactivation and preservation of liquid food. This study compared PS-ES with heat treatment (HT) to understand its inactivation mechanism against E. coli and S. aureus in a simulated system. Microbial activity, cell permeability, membrane integrity, membrane potential, and cell membrane structure were assessed. Furthermore, the impact of PS-ES treatment on microbial activity and flavor in honey raspberry juice, was examined. The changes in microbial growth and color during storage were also discussed. The experimental findings revealed that PS-ES treatment effectively reduced the number of E. coli and S. aureus by 1.99 and 1.83 log colony-forming units (CFU/mL). Additionally, it disrupted the integrity of bacterial cell membranes increasing their permeability, which led to the release of cellular proteins and nucleic acids. PS-ES treatment lowered the membrane potential and altered the structure of bacterial proteins. Application of PS-ES in honey raspberry juice reduced bacterial counts from 4.48 log CFU/mL to 1.99 log CFU/mL, with less flavor deterioration compared to HT treatment. After 30 days of storage at 4 °C and room temperature, PS-ES effectively controlled the growth of microorganisms in raspberry juice and maintained the color of the juice.

"Feicheng" peach is popular for its unique aroma, but its defect of being highly sensitive to chilling injury (CI) often leads to aroma loss and internal browning. Essential oils (EOs) are often used to enhance the antioxidant capacity of plants and fruits, as well as to trigger their defense against biotic/abiotic stresses. This study aimed to examine the effect of cinnamon essential oil (CEO) vapor treatment on the aroma quality of peach fruit during cold storage using HS-GC-IMS. The results showed that 50 μL/L CEO vapor reduced the severity of internal browning (IB) in peaches at the stage of 7 ~ 21 d during refrigeration (Significantly, the L* value was higher and the IB index was lower than that of control, p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the evident reduction or loss of aroma content caused by CI was restored to a higher level than the control (p < 0.05). Furthermore, CEO treatment promoted the release of aroma-related volatiles as evidenced by more propyl acetate, and the dimer of amyl acetate, isoamyl acetate, butyl acetate detected than that on harvest day and no-treated group after 21 d of cold storage plus 2 d of shelf life. Genes of PpLOX1, PpLOX2, PpHPL1 and PpADH1 associated with aroma-related volatile biosynthesis revealed higher transcript abundance in peach fruits treated with CEO than the control (p < 0.05). Overall, our study demonstrated that CEO in vapor phase may be beneficial to alleviate the quality deterioration in aroma and flesh color of "Feicheng" peaches caused by CI, which lays a theoretical reference for maintaining postharvest quality of peach fruits.

Abstract
Iron is involved in various metabolic pathways of plants. Stress from iron deficiency and toxicity in the soil adversely affects plant growth. Therefore, studying the mechanism of iron absorption and transport by plants is of important for resistance to iron stress and to increase crop yield. In this study, Malus xiaojinensis (a Fe-efficient Malus plant) was used as research material. A ferric reduction oxidase (FRO) family gene member was cloned and named MxFRO4. The MxFRO4 encoded a protein of 697 amino acid residues with a predicted molecular weight of 78.54 kDa and a theoretical isoelectric point of 4.90. A subcellular localization assay showed that the MxFRO4 protein was localized on the cell membrane. The expression of MxFRO4 was enriched in immature leaves and roots of M. xiaojinensis, and was strongly affected by low-iron, high-iron, and salt treatments. After introduction of MxFRO4 into Arabidopsis thaliana, the iron and salt stress tolerance of transgenic A. thaliana was greatly improved. Under exposure to low-iron and high-iron stresses, the primary root length, seedling fresh weight, contents of proline, chlorophyll, and iron, and iron(III) chelation activity of the transgenic lines were significantly increased compared with the wild type. The contents of chlorophyll and proline, and the activities of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase were significantly higher in transgenic A. thaliana overexpressing MxFRO4 under salt stress compared with the wild type, whereas the malondialdehyde content was decreased. These results suggest that MxFRO4 contributes to alleviating the effects of low-iron, high-iron, and salinity stresses in transgenic A. thaliana.

Abstract
Electrospray (ES) is a new non-thermal processing technology for pasteurising liquid foods. This study aimed to investigate the effects of ES on the cell structure and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and then compare the effects of ES and heat treatment (HT) on microbial inactivation and flavour composition in honey raspberry wine. First, we found that the inactivation effect of ES treatment on the three microorganisms was significantly influenced by the voltage intensity. The degree of damage to the cellular structures and functions of the three microorganisms increased with increasing voltage. Second, the environment in which the microorganisms were present significantly influenced the ES pasteurisation effect. Pasteurisation by ES was better when the three microorganisms were in honey raspberry wine than in saline. Finally, the total number of colonies in honey raspberry wine was reduced from 4.50 to 2.03 log colony forming units/mL after ES treatment, and the wine had good stability during storage (84 days at 4 °C). In the honey raspberry wine, the contents of the main flavour substances (ketones and esters) did not change significantly after ES treatment, but HT decreased the content of esters and ketones by 13.5 % and 75.4 %, respectively.

Abstract
CBFs play a crucial role when plants are in adverse environmental conditions for growth. However, there are few reports on the role of CBF gene in stress responses of Malus plant. In this experiment, a new CBF TF was separated from M. baccata which was named MbCBF1. MbCBF1 protein was found to be localized in the nucleus after subcellular localization. Furthermore, the expression of MbCBF1 was highly accumulated in new leaves and roots due to the high influence of cold and high salt in M. baccata seedlings. After introducing MbCBF1 into A. thaliana, transgenic A. thaliana can better adapt to the living conditions of cold and high salt. The increased expression of MbCBF1 in A. thaliana also increased the contents of proline, remarkablely improved the activities of SOD, POD and CAT, but the content of MDA was decreased. Although the chlorophyll content also decreased, it decreased less in transgenic plants. In short, above date showed that MbCBF1 has a positive effect on improving A. thaliana cold and high salt tolerance. MbCBF1 can regulate the expression of its downstream gene in transgenic lines, up-regulate the expression of key genes COR15a, RD29a/bandCOR6.6/47 related to low temperature under cold conditions and NCED3, CAT1, P5CS1, RD22, DREB2A,PIF1/4, SOS1 and SnRK2.4 related to salt stress under high salt conditions, so as to further improve the adaptability and tolerance of the transgenic plants to low temperature and high salt environment.

Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the effect and mechanism of eugenol treatment on fresh-peeled Chinese water chestnuts (CWCs). The results found that eugenol treatment maintained the appearance of fresh-peeled CWCs, accompanied by higher L* value, total solids and O2 contents, as well as lower browning degree, weight loss rate, CO2 content, a* and b* values. In addition, eugenol treatment significantly reduced the activities of peroxidase, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, and polyphenol oxidase, as well as the total content of soluble quinone in fresh-peeled CWCs. Meanwhile, fresh-peeled CWCs treated with eugenol showed markedly lower content of total flavonoids, which may be related to yellowing. Furthermore, eugenol treatment suppressed the rates of O2·- and OH·- production as well as the contents of H2O2 and malondialdehyde in fresh-peeled CWCs. During the storage, eugenol treatment not only increased the activities of catalase, superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase as well as the DPPH free radical scavenging rate, but also increased the total phenolics, ascorbic acid and glutathione contents. In summary, eugenol treatment delayed the surface discoloration of fresh-peeled CWCs by improving the antioxidant capacity, inhibiting the phenolic compound metabolism and scavenging ROS, thus effectively maintaining the quality of fresh-peeled CWCs while extending their shelf life.

Abstract
The MYB transcription factor (TF) family is one of the largest transcription families in plants, which is widely involved in the responses to different abiotic stresses, such as salt, cold, and drought. In the present study, a new MYB TF gene was cloned from Fragaria vesca (a diploid strawberry) and named FvMYB82. The open reading frame (ORF) of FvMYB82 was found to be 960 bp, encoding 319 amino acids. Sequence alignment results and predictions of the protein structure indicated that the FvMYB82 contained the conserved R2R3-MYB domain. Subcellular localization analysis showed that FvMYB82 was localized onto the nucleus. Furthermore, the qPCR showed that the expression level of FvMYB82 was higher in new leaves and roots than in mature leaves and stems. When dealing with different stresses, the expression level of FvMYB82 in F. vesca seedlings changed markedly, especially for salt and cold stress. When FvMYB82 was introduced into Arabidopsis thaliana, the tolerances to salt and cold stress of FvMYB82-OE A. thaliana were greatly improved. When dealt with salt and cold treatments, compared with wild-type and unloaded line (UL) A. thaliana, the transgenic lines had higher contents of proline and chlorophyll, as well as higher activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT). However, the transgenic A. thaliana had lower level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and electrolytic leakage (EL) than wild-type and UL A. thaliana under salt and cold stress. Meanwhile, FvMYB82 can also regulate the expression of downstream genes associated with salt stress (AtSnRK2.4, AtSnRK2.6, AtKUP6, and AtNCED3) and cold stress (AtCBF1, AtCBF2, AtCOR15a, and AtCOR78). Therefore, these results indicated that FvMYB82 probably plays an important role in the response to salt and cold stresses in A. thaliana by regulating downstream related genes.

The expression of MbMYB108 was enriched in young and mature leaves, and was highly affected by cold and drought treatments in M. baccata seedlings. When MbMYB108 was introduced into Arabidopsis thaliana, it greatly increased the cold and drought tolerances in the transgenic plant. Increased expression of MbMYB108 in transgenic A. thaliana also resulted in higher activities of peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT), higher contents of proline and chlorophyll, while malondialdehyde (MDA) content and relative conductivity were lower, especially in response to cold and drought stresses. Therefore, these results suggest that MbMYB108 probably plays an important role in the response to cold and drought stresses in A. thaliana by enhancing the scavenging capability for reactive oxygen species (ROS).

In the natural environment, plants often face unfavorable factors such as drought, cold, and freezing, which affect their growth and yield. The MYB (v-myb avian myeloblastosis viral oncogene homolog) transcription factor family is widely involved in plant responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, Malus baccata (L.) The open reading frame (ORF) of MbMYB4 was found to be 762 bp, encoding 253 amino acids; sequence alignment results and predictions of the protein structure indicated that the MbMYB4 protein contained the conserved MYB domain. Subcellular localization showed that MbMYB4 was localized in the nucleus. In addition, the use of quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) technology found that the expression of MbMYB4 was enriched in the young leaf and root, and it was highly affected by cold and drought treatments in M. baccata seedlings. When MbMYB4 was introduced into Arabidopsis thaliana, it greatly increased the cold and drought tolerance in the transgenic plant. Under cold and drought stresses, the proline and chlorophyll content, and peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activities of transgenic A. thaliana increased significantly, and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the relative conductivity decreased significantly, indicating that the plasma membrane damage of transgenic A. thaliana was lesser. Therefore, the overexpression of the MbMYB4 gene in A. thaliana can enhance the tolerance of transgenic plants to cold and drought stresses.

Abstract
C-repeat (CRT) binding factors (CBFs) are well known to act as crucial transcription factors that function in cold stress response. Arginine decarboxylase (ADC)- mediated putrescine (Put) biosynthesis has been reported to be activated in plants exposed to cold conditions, but it remains elusive whether CBFs can regulate ADC expression and Put accumulation. In this study, we show that cold upregulated ADC gene (Citrus sinensis ADC;CsADC) and elevated endogenous Put content in sweet orange (C.sinensis). The promoter of CsADC contains two CRT sequences that are canonical elements recognized by CBFs. Sweet orange genome contains four CBFs (CsCBF1-4), in which CsCBF1 was significantly induced by cold. CsCBF1, located in the nucleus, was demonstrated to bind directly and specifically to the promoter of CsADC and acted as a transcriptional activator. Overexpression of CsCBF1 led to notable elevation of CsADC and Put levels in sweet orange transgenic plants, along with remarkably enhanced cold tolerance, relative to the wild type. However, pretreatment with D-arginine, an ADC inhibitor, caused a prominent reduction of endogenous Put levels in the overexpressing lines, accompanied by greatly compromised cold tolerance. Taken together, these results demonstrate that the CBF1 of sweet orange directly regulates ADC expression and modulates Put synthesis for orchestrating the cold tolerance. Our findings shed light on the transcriptional regulation of Put accumulation through targeting the ADC gene in the presence of cold stress. Meanwhile, this study illustrates a new mechanism underlying the CBF-mediated cold stress response.

Abstract
Tomato is susceptible to chilling injury during cold storage. In this study, we found that low temperature promoted the expression of brassinosteroid (BR) biosynthetic genes in tomato fruits. The overexpression of SlCYP90B3 (SlCYP90B3-OE), a key BR biosynthetic gene, alleviated the chilling injury with decreased electrical conductivity and malondialdehyde. In SlCYP90B3-OE tomato fruits, the activities of antioxidant enzymes, including ascorbate peroxidase (APX), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), and superoxide dismutase (SOD), were markedly increased, while the activity of membranous lipolytic enzymes, lipoxygenase (LOX), and phospholipase D (PLD), were significantly decreased when compared with the wild-type in response to cold storage. Furthermore, the expression level of the cold-response-system component, SlCBF1, was higher in SlCYP90B3-OE fruits than in the wild-type fruits. These results indicated that SlCYP90B3 might be involved in the chilling tolerance of tomato fruits during cold storage, possibly by regulating the antioxidant enzyme system and SlCBF1 expression.

Abstract
Prolonging crops’ shelf-life while retaining their high quality is a major issue related to postharvest management. During storage, fruits and vegetables are exposed to microbial attacks, which may cause spoilage. Crop deterioration causes the loss of physical properties and drops in quality and nutritional value. Hence, new techniques to improve the resistance of food products are being explored. One promising technique is fumigation. Essential oils and their constituents, due to their antimicrobial properties, are likely to be used as fumigants, as they are highly volatile, effective in low concentrations, biodegradable, and safe. Papers indicate that some of them can improve their quality by increasing the content of antioxidants. This comprehensive review aims to present the current state of knowledge about the influence of essential oil fumigation on crop quality. It covers antioxidant capacity, the content of some bioactive compounds, physicochemical properties, decay properties, and sensory attributes of fruits and vegetables treated with essential oil vapors. The review indicates that this technique might be an interesting field for further exploration due to the promising results presented in the studies. Moreover, the review presents major objectives for current studies and indicates a lack of recent papers in this field.

Abstract
Nitric oxide (NO) is an important regulator of plant response to cold stress. In this study, NO treatment delayed the development of chilling injury (CI), inhibited the increase in H2O2 content, O2- production rate and decrease in firmness of postharvest peach fruit. Meanwhile, through RNA-seq analysis, NO treatment up-regulated gene expression of PpG-6-PDH, Pp6-PGDH and PpAOX while it down-regulated the expression of PpGPI and PpHK, suggesting that the pentose phosphate respiratory pathway and cyanide-resistant respiratory pathway were promoted and the glycolysis pathway was inhibited. Furthermore, the PpAOX expression was consistent with the trend of PpPOD1/2 expression and H2O2 content, indicating that AOX may play a role in reducing oxidative damage of peach fruit by scavenging H2O2. Thus, it was concluded that NO treatment could induce the cyanide-resistant respiration pathway to enhance antioxidant ability and chilling tolerance in post-harvest peach fruit.

Abstract
Increasing the vulnerability of plants especially crops to a wide range of cold stress reduces plant growth, development, yield production, and plant distribution. Cold stress induces physiological, morphological, biochemical, phenotypic, and molecular changes in plants. Transcription factor (TF) is one of the most important regulators that mediate gene expression. TF is activated by the signal transduction pathway, together with cis-acting element modulate the transcription of cold-responsive genes which contribute to increasing cold tolerance in plants. Here, AP2/ERF TF family is one of the most important cold stress-related TF families that along with other TF families, such as WRKY, bHLH, bZIP, MYB, NAC, and C2H2 interrelate to enhance cold stress tolerance. Over the past decade, significant progress has been found to solve the role of transcription factors (TFs) in improving cold tolerance in plants, such as omics analysis. Furthermore, numerous studies have identified and characterized the complexity of cold stress mechanisms among TFs or between TFs and other factors (endogenous and exogenous) including phytohormones, eugenol, and light. The role, function, and relationship among these TFs or between TFs and other factors to enhance cold tolerance still need to be clarified. Here, the current study analysed the role of AP2/ERF TF and the linkages among AP2/ERF with MYB, WRKY, bZIP, bHLH, C2H2, or NAC against cold stress tolerance.

Abstract
The change of lipid metabolism is a key point of blueberry fruit after refrigeration. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of intermittent warming (IW) of "DuKe" blueberry fruit on its shelf life at 20 ± 0.5°C following 30 days of refrigeration. IW-treated fruit showed higher contents of phosphatidylcholine, linoleic acid, and oleic acid but lower contents of phosphatidic acid and palmitic acid compared to controls. Protective effects on the cell membrane were also reflected as inhibition of the activity of phospholipase D and lipoxygenase. The blueberry fruit showed a lower decay and pitting incidence with higher firmness than control. Interestingly, IW increased C-repeat binding transcription factor gene expression, which can induce the expression of genes related to hypothermia tolerance in plant cells at low temperature. These results indicate that IW can prevent damage to the membrane lipids, which occurs by senescence at a low temperature of blueberry fruit.

Abstract
Due to their mechanical properties, ranging from flexible to hard materials, polyurethanes (PUs) have been widely used in many industrial and biomedical applications. PUs' characteristics, along with their biocompatibility, make them successful biomaterials for short and medium-duration applications. The morphology of PUs includes two structural phases: hard and soft segments. Their high mechanical resistance featuresare determined by the hard segment, while the elastomeric behaviour is established by the soft segment. The most important biomedical applications of PUs include antibacterial surfaces and catheters, blood oxygenators, dialysis devices, stents, cardiac valves, vascular prostheses, bioadhesives/surgical dressings/pressure-sensitive adhesives, drug delivery systems, tissue engineering scaffolds and electrospinning, nerve generation, pacemaker lead insulation and coatings for breast implants. The diversity of polyurethane properties, due to the ease of bulk and surface modification, plays a vital role in their applications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sapota is a popular tropical fruit characterized by a very short postharvest life. Low-temperature storage prolongs postharvest life of sapota fruit, but chilling injury symptoms can develop if the storage temperature is less than 14 °C. There have been no reports on the effects of postharvest melatonin application on the development of chilling injury in sapota fruit during cold storage. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different concentrations of postharvest melatonin application (0, 30, 60 and 90 μmol L-1 ) during cold storage (8 °C) for up to 30 days with an additional 1-day shelf life at ambient temperature. RESULTS All melatonin treatments reduced chilling injury symptoms, reduced electrolyte leakage, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, H2 O2 and superoxide anion (O2 - ), and increased proline content and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and reduced the activities of phospholipase D (PLD) and lipoxygenase (LOX) compared to the control. CONCLUSION Postharvest melatonin treatment could be a useful strategy for reducing chilling injury during cold storage and transport of sapota fruit. The results indicate that melatonin reduces chilling injury of sapota fruit through maintaining membrane integrity, SOD and CAT activities, and reducing PLD and LOX activities. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
NAC (no apical meristem (NAM), Arabidopsis thaliana transcription activation factor (ATAF1/2) and cup shaped cotyledon (CUC2)) transcription factors play crucial roles in plant development and stress responses. Nevertheless, to date, only a few reports regarding stress-related NAC genes are available in Malus baccata (L.) Borkh. In this study, the transcription factor MbNAC25 in M. baccata was isolated as a member of the plant-specific NAC family that regulates stress responses. Expression of MbNAC25 was induced by abiotic stresses such as drought, cold, high salinity and heat. The ORF of MbNAC25 is 1122 bp, encodes 373 amino acids and subcellular localization showed that MbNAC25 protein was localized in the nucleus. In addition, MbNAC25 was highly expressed in new leaves and stems using real-time PCR. To analyze the function of MbNAC25 in plants, we generated transgenic Arabidopsis plants that overexpressed MbNAC25. Under low-temperature stress (4 °C) and high-salt stress (200 mM NaCl), plants overexpressing MbNAC25 enhanced tolerance against cold and drought salinity conferring a higher survival rate than that of wild-type (WT). Correspondingly, the chlorophyll content, proline content, the activities of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) were significantly increased, while malondialdehyde (MDA) content was lower. These results indicated that the overexpression of MbNAC25 in Arabidopsis plants improved the tolerance to cold and salinity stress via enhanced scavenging capability of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
