Abstract
INTRODUCTION Thrombocytopenia is a known surrogate marker for cirrhosis and portal hypertension and has been associated with increased risk of poor perioperative outcomes when studied in "open" operations. This study was undertaken to assess thrombocytopenia as an independent risk factor for undesirable perioperative outcomes after robotic hepatectomy. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 279 patients who underwent robotic hepatectomy at our institution. Patients were stratified into two cohorts based on preoperative platelet counts. Thrombocytopenia was classified as having a platelet count less than 150 /μL. Patients were 2:1 ratio propensity-score matched based on IWATE score and age. Data are presented as median (mean ± SD). RESULTS Thirty-six patients with thrombocytopenia were matched to 72 patients without thrombocytopenia. Patients with thrombocytopenia had higher MELD scores [p = 0.02] and higher Child-Pugh Scores [p <0.001]. Intraoperatively, patients with thrombocytopenia had shorter operative duration [p = 0.03] but similar estimated blood loss (EBL) [p = 0.78]. Postoperatively, there were more fresh frozen plasma transfusions in patients with thrombocytopenia [p = 0.04]. There were no differences in IWATE scores, tumor size, conversions to "open" operations, intraoperative complications, patient length of stay (LOS), Clavien-Dindo score ≥ III complications, perioperative RBC transfusion, in-hospital mortality, or 30-day readmissions. CONCLUSIONS In our propensity-score matched study, patients with thrombocytopenia had more severe liver disease; however, there were no differences in their EBL, LOS, or perioperative complications. Preoperative thrombocytopenia, while being an indicator of severity of liver disease potentially promoting perioperative bleeding, does not negatively affect the perioperative course of patients undergoing robotic hepatectomy.

Abstract
Background: Increasing numbers of studies reported platelet (PLT)- related measures could play a creative role in many malignancies, while the prognostic impact of these measures in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains limited and controversial. It is worth exploring the predictive value of PLT-related measures in HCC. Methods: A total of 279 HCC patients with hepatectomy were analyzed in the retrospective cohort study. The optimal cut-off points of these PLT-related indices were obtained by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The associations of these indices with clinical characteristics and overall survival (OS) were evaluated by Kaplan–Meier curves and Cox proportional hazards models. Results: High PLT count and low prognostic nutritional index (low-PNI) were significantly associated with larger tumor size. The low gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase-to-platelet ratio (low-GPR) group was inclined to more hepatitis infections. Survival curves indicated that preoperative high-PLT, low-GPR, and low-PNI had a worse prognosis after surgery in the cohort. In addition, PLT≥220 × 109/L (HR, 2.274; 95% CI, 1.061-4.876; P = .035), PNI≥51.9 (HR, 0.503; 95% CI, 0.265-0.954; P = .035), and GPR≥0.2 (HR, 0.432; 95% CI, 0.204-0.912; P = .028) were identified as independent prognostic factors for survival outcomes in the multivariable analysis. Conclusion: High-PLT, low-GPR, and low-PNI as the preoperative predictors were associated with poor OS in HCC patients with hepatectomy. Our data reveal that they could be simple, easily obtained, and effective predictors for evaluation of survival outcomes in patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly recurrent tumor. Antiviral therapy with nucleos(t)ide analogues (NUCs) may reduce the risk of recurrence in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCC. The risk factors associated with recurrence in HCC patients after surgical resection and with NUCs treatment should be delineated. METHODS Consecutive 339 HBV-related HCC patients receiving surgical resection of HCC with NUCs therapy (including 256 entecavir, 36 tenofovir, and 18 lamivudine) after the surgery were retrospectively reviewed. Factors related to the recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were evaluated. RESULTS After a median of 48.5 months of follow-up, 183 (54%) patients developed HCC recurrence, with the 5-year RFS of 42.8% and OS of 79%. Male gender (HR = 1.736, p = 0.037), baseline HBsAg level >200 IU/ml (HR = 1.748, p = 0.008), platelet count ≦100 (109/L) (HR = 1.592, p = 0.023), presence of microscopic vascular invasion (MVI) (HR = 1.499, p = 0.026), safety cut margin of ≦0.5 cm (HR = 1.507, p = 0.013), and Ishak fibrosis score 5-6 (HR = 1.579, p = 0.009) were independent factors associated with RFS in multivariate analysis. While tumor burden, platelet count, MVI, and safety cut margin were factors associated with early recurrence; baseline HBsAg level, and platelet count were independent factors associated with late recurrence. Ishak fibrosis score 5-6, poor differentiation, MVI, diabetes mellitus were factors associated with OS in multivariate analysis. CONCLUSION For HBV-HCC patients on NUCs treatment, tumor factors are associated with early recurrence, while HBsAg level and thrombocytopenia determines late recurrence. For patient with a high baseline HBsAg level, warning of higher risk of recurrence is required even under NUCs treatment.

Abstract
Purpose The risk of posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) after right hepatectomy remains substantial. Additional parameters such as computed tomography volumetry, liver stiffness measurement by FibroScan, indocyanine green retention rate at 15 minutes, and platelet count used to properly assess future liver remnant volume quality and quantity are of the utmost importance. Thus, we compared the usefulness of these modalities for predicting PHLF among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after right hepatectomy. Methods We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent right hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma between 2007 and 2013. PHLF was determined according to International Study Group of Liver Surgery consensus definition and severity grading. Grades B and C were defined as clinically relevant posthepatectomy liver failure (CRPHLF). The results were internally validated using a cohort of 97 patients. Results Among the 90 included patients, 15 (16.7%) had CRPHLF. Multivariate analysis confirmed that platelet count < 140 (109/L) (hazard ratio [HR], 24.231; 95% confidence interval [CI], 3.623–161.693; P = 0.001) and remnant liver volume-to-body weight (RVL/BW) ratio < 0.55 (HR, 25.600; 95% CI, 4.185–156.590; P < 0.001) were independent predictors of CRPHLF. Among the 12 patients with a platelet count < 140 (109/L) and RLV/BW ratio < 0.55, 9 (75%) had CRPHLF. Likewise, 5 of 38 (13.2%) with only one risk factor developed CRPHL versus 1 of 40 (2.5%) with no risk factors. These findings were confirmed by the validation cohort. Conclusion RLV/BW ratio and platelet count are more important than the conventional RLV/TFLV, indocyanine green retention rate at 15 minutes, and liver stiffness measurement in the preoperative risk assessment for CRPHLF.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the major causes of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare expenditure in patients with chronic liver disease in India. The Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL) had published its first guidelines on diagnosis and management of HCC (The Puri Recommendations) in 2014, and these guidelines were very well received by the healthcare community involved in diagnosis and management of HCC in India and neighboring countries. However, since 2014, many new developments have taken place in the field of HCC diagnosis and management, hence INASL endeavored to update its 2014 consensus guidelines. A new Task Force on HCC was constituted that reviewed the previous guidelines as well as the recent developments in various aspects of HCC that needed to be incorporated in the new guidelines. A 2-day round table discussion was held on 5th and 6th May 2018 at Puri, Odisha, to discuss, debate, and finalize the revised consensus statements. Each statement of the guideline was graded according to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment Development and Evaluation system with minor modifications. We present here the 2019 Update of INASL Consensus on Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in India: The Puri-2 Recommendations.

Abstract
The success of liver surgery, including resection and transplantation, is largely dependent on the ability of the liver to regenerate. Despite substantial improvement in surgical techniques and perioperative care, one of the main concerns is post-hepatectomy liver failure and early allograft dysfunction, both of which are associated with impaired liver regeneration. Recent studies have demonstrated the positive role of platelets in promoting liver regeneration and protecting hepatocytes; however, the underlying mechanisms responsible for these effects are not fully understood. In this review, we updated the accumulated evidence of the role of platelets in promoting liver regeneration, with a focus on liver resection and liver transplantation. The goal of these studies was to support the clinical implementation of platelet agents, such as thrombopoietin receptor agonists, to augment liver regeneration after liver surgery. This "platelet therapy" may become a treatment choice for post-hepatectomy liver failure and early allograft dysfunction.

Abstract
Growing interest is recently being focused on the role played by the platelets in favoring hepatocellular cancer (HCC) growth and dissemination. The present review reports in detail both the experimental and clinical evidence published on this topic. Several growth factors and angiogenic molecules specifically secreted by platelets are directly connected with tumor progression and neo-angiogenesis. Among them, we can list the platelet-derived growth factor, the vascular endothelial growth factor, the endothelial growth factor, and serotonin. Platelets are also involved in tumor spread, favoring endothelium permeabilization and tumor cells' extravasation and survival in the bloodstream. From the bench to the clinics, all of these aspects were also investigated in clinical series, showing an evident correlation between platelet count and size of HCC, tumor biological behavior, metastatic spread, and overall survival rates. Moreover, a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the platelet-tumor axis represents a paramount aspect for optimizing both current tumor treatment and development of new therapeutic strategies against HCC.

Abstract
Background: Inflammatory markers are regarded as prognostic factors of the outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Examples include the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR); platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR); the albumin and lymphocyte counts used in the prognostic nutritional index (PNI); and the neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts used in the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII). This study evaluates the effects of PNI, NLR, PLR, and SII to predict recurrence and survival in patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stages 0-A of HCC after hepatectomy. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at Kaohsiung Chung-Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. The study enrolled 891 patients (77.9% males; mean age 58.53 ± 11.60 years) with BCLC stage 0/A HCC undergoing hepatectomy between 2001 and 2016. PNI, NLR, PLR and SII were measured before hepatectomy. Results: High NLR (>1.8) was adversely associated with overall survival (p = 0.032). Low PNI (≤45) was adversely associated with overall survival and disease-free survival (p < 0.001). Low SII (≤45) also had an adverse association with overall survival (p = 0.008) and disease-free survival (p < 0.001). Diabetes mellitus, cirrhosis, microvascular invasion, low PNI (≤45), and low SII (≤160) were independently associated with poor overall survival in a multivariate analysis. HCV infection, diabetes mellitus, cirrhosis, microvascular invasion, low PNI, and low SII were independent prognostic factors of recurrent HCC. The combined use of PNI and SII provided improved prognostic information. Conclusions: Low PNI and low SII are significantly poor prognostic factors for overall survival and recurrence in patients with BCLC 0-A hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatectomy.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the liver stiffness measurement and the risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in HCV cirrhotic patients undergoing new direct-acting antivirals. METHODS From April 2015 to April 2017, all consecutive HCV cirrhotic patients treated by direct-acting antivirals were enrolled. A liver stiffness measurement was computed at baseline, and an ultrasound evaluation was provided for all patients at baseline and every 6 months until 1 year after the stopping of the antiviral therapy. The diagnosis of HCC was performed according to international guidelines by imaging technique workup. RESULTS Two hundred and fifty-eight HCV patients with a diagnosis of cirrhosis were identified. The median liver stiffness was 25.5 kPa. Thirty-five patients developed HCC. Patients were divided into three groups, based on their liver stiffness: < 20 kPa (n = 72), between 20 and 30 kPa (n = 92) and > 30 kPa (n = 94). Compared to the < 20 kPa and 20-30 kPa groups, the > 30 kPa group showed a statistically significant increased risk of HCC (p = 0.019; HR 0.329; 95% CI 0.131-0.830). A ROC curve analysis to assess the overall predictive performance of liver stiffness measurement on the HCC risk was performed. The results allow us to identify a cutoff value of liver stiffness measurement equal to 27.8 kPa, which guarantees the highest sensitivity and specificity (respectively, 72% and 65%). CONCLUSIONS The data underline that the baseline liver stiffness measurement and ultrasound surveillance is a valuable tool for assessing the risk of HCC in cirrhotic patients undergoing the direct-acting antivirals treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This meta-analysis summarized the prognostic role of an elevated platelet count before treatment on survival outcomes in patients with cervical cancer. METHODS The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane library electronic databases were systematically searched for studies reporting the effect estimates with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of pretreatment thrombocytosis on survival from the database inceptions to December 2018. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% CIs for overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and recurrence-free survival (RFS) were calculated using random-effects models. RESULTS Nineteen retrospective studies that recruited 6521 patients with cervical cancer were eligible for this study. The summary results indicated that an elevated platelet count was significantly associated with a poor OS (HR 1.50; 95% CI 1.19-1.88; P = 0.001), PFS (HR 1.33; 95% CI 1.07-1.64; P = 0.010), and RFS (HR 1.66; 95% CI 1.20-2.28; P = 0.002). Sensitivity analysis indicated that the pooled PFS was variable after sequential exclusion of individual studies. The predictive value of pretreatment thrombocytosis on OS differed according to the publication year (P = 0.039), country (P = 0.013), and sample size (P = 0.029), and the role of pretreatment thrombocytosis on PFS could be affected by the study quality (P = 0.046). CONCLUSION The findings of this study indicated that an elevated platelet count before treatment was associated with poor OS, PFS, and RFS. These results require further verification in large-scale prospective studies.

Abstract
Posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is the most leading cause of mortality following hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Platelet count was reported to be a simple but useful indicator of liver cirrhosis and function of spleen. Spleen stiffness (SS) was used to evaluate the morphological change of spleen and was reported to be related to liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. However, the predictive value of platelet to spleen stiffness ratio (PSR) on PHLF remains unknown. A retrospective study was performed to analyze 158 patients with HCC following hepatectomy from August 2015 to February 2016. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate the value of each risk factor for predicting PHLF. The predictive efficiency of the risk factors was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. PHLF occured in 23 (14.6%) patients. PSR (P<0.001, odds ratio (OR) = 0.622, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.493~0.784), hepatic inflow occlusion (HIO) (P = 0.003, OR = 1.044, 95% CI 1.015~1.075) and major hepatectomy (P = 0.019, OR = 5.967, 95% CI 1.346~26.443) were demonstrated to be the independent predictive factors for development of PHLF in a multivariate analysis. Results of the present study suggested PSR is a novel and non-invasive model for predicting PHLF in patients with HCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelets have been reported to influence tumor biology and may promote metastasis. Traditionally, thrombocytopenia, a hallmark of cirrhosis, was associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. However, the impact of platelet count on outcome in patients with established HCC is not well studied. METHODS Outcomes of patients with cirrhosis diagnosed with HCC between 1995 and 2013 (derivation cohort) and 2000-2016 (validation cohort) who were not eligible for surgical treatment and did not receive antiplatelet therapy were retrospectively studied. Thrombocytopenia was defined as platelet count < 150 g/L. High mean platelet volume (MPV) was defined as ≥median value of the respective cohort (derivation cohort: ≥11 fL; validation cohort: ≥10.6 fL). RESULTS Among 626 patients with unresectable HCC, thrombocytopenia was present in 378 (60.4%) and was associated with favorable baseline tumor characteristics: lower diameter of the largest nodule (5.6 ± 3.2 vs. 7.6 ± 4.2 cm), less extrahepatic spread (9.5 vs. 20.2%, both p < 0.001), less macrovascular invasion (21.2 vs. 31.0%, p = 0.005), and lower BCLC stages (63.0 vs. 73.4% BCLC C/D; p = 0.007) as compared to patients with normal platelet count. On univariate analysis, thrombocytopenia and larger MPV were associated with longer overall survival (OS) (thrombocytopenia: median OS [95% CI], 11.5 [9.3-13.8] vs. 5.5 [3.8-7.1] months; p = 0.001; MPV ≥11 fL: 11.7 [9.1-14.2] vs. 6.0 [4.4-7.6] months; p < 0.001). In multivariate analysis, the combined variable of thrombocytopenia and larger MPV was independently associated with longer OS (HR [95% CI], 0.80 [0.65-0.98]; p = 0.029). These results were confirmed in an independent external validation cohort of 525 patients with cirrhosis and HCC. Again, patients with thrombocytopenia and high MPV had significantly longer OS (15.3 [11.7-18.9] vs. 9.3 [7.4-11.2] months; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Thrombocytopenia and higher MPV are associated with better outcome in patients with advanced HCC. These findings may prompt further clinical research on additive antiplatelet therapy in the prevention and management of HCC.

Abstract
Background and Aim Extrahepatic metastasis (EHM) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) leads to a worse prognosis. We aimed to develop a nomogram based on noninvasive pretreatment clinical data to predict EHM of HCC sooner. Methods Three cohorts containing 1820, 479, and 988 HCC patients were enrolled from three hospitals in different regions in Taiwan and served as the training and validation cohorts. Pretreatment clinical data were analyzed by Cox regression modeling for independent risk factors of EHM. Results Platelet count ≥ 200 × 103/μL, serum alfa-fetoprotein ≥ 100 ng/dL, tumor size ≥ 3 cm, tumor number > 1, and macrovascular invasion were independent risk factors for EHM and were used to develop a nomogram. This nomogram had concordance indices of 0.733 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.688-0.778) and 0.739 (95% CI: 0.692-0.787) for the prediction of EHM during a 5-year follow-up duration in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. A nomogram score > 61 implied a high risk of EHM (hazard ratio [HR] = 3.83; 95% CI: 2.77-5.31, P < 0.001). Conclusion We have developed a nomogram that could accurately predict EHM of HCC and be readily available for formulating individualized treatment for all individual HCC patients to improve therapeutic efficacy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Emerging evidence suggests that the perioperative platelet count (PLT) can predict posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF). In this systematic review and meta-analysis, the impact of perioperative PLT on PHLF and mortality was evaluated. METHODS MEDLINE and Web of Science databases were searched systematically for relevant literature up to January 2018. All studies comparing PHLF or mortality in patients with a low versus high perioperative PLT were included. Study quality was assessed using methodological index for non-randomized studies (MINORS) criteria. Meta-analyses were performed using Mantel-Haenszel tests with a random-effects model, and presented as odds ratios (ORs) with 95 per cent confidence intervals. RESULTS Thirteen studies containing 5260 patients were included in the meta-analysis. Two different cut-off values for PLT were used: 150 and 100/nl. Patients with a perioperative PLT below 150/nl had higher PHLF (4 studies, 817 patients; OR 4·79, 95 per cent c.i. 2·89 to 7·94) and mortality (4 studies, 3307 patients; OR 3·78, 1·48 to 9·62) rates than patients with a perioperative PLT of 150/nl or more. Similarly, patients with a PLT below 100/nl had a significantly higher risk of PHLF (4 studies, 949 patients; OR 4·65, 2·60 to 8·31) and higher mortality rates (7 studies, 3487 patients; OR 6·35, 2·99 to 13·47) than patients with a PLT of 100/nl or greater. CONCLUSION A low perioperative PLT correlates with higher PHLF and mortality rates after hepatectomy.

Abstract
AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) as a risk factor for post-transplant hepatocellular cancer (HCC) recurrence.
METHODS A systematic literature search was performed using PubMed. Participants of any age and sex, who underwent liver transplantation for HCC were considered following these criteria: (1) studies comparing pre-transplant low vs high PLR values; (2) studies reporting post-transplant recurrence rates; and (3) if more than one study was reported by the same institute, only the most recent was included. The primary outcome measure was set for HCC recurrence after transplantation.
RESULTS A total of 5 articles, published between 2014 and 2017, fulfilled the selection criteria. As for the quality of the reported studies, all the investigated articles presented an overall high quality. A total of 899 cases were investigated: 718 cases (80.0%) were males. Three studies coming from European countries and one from Japan presented HCV as the main cause of cirrhosis. On the opposite, one Chinese study presented a greater incidence of HBV-related cirrhotic cases. In all the studies apart one, the PLR cut-off value of 150 was reported. At meta-analysis, high PLR value was associated with a significant increase in recurrence after transplantation (OR = 3.33; 95%CI: 1.78-6.25; P < 0.001). A moderate heterogeneity was observed among the identified studies according to the Higgins I2 statistic value.
CONCLUSION Pre-transplant high PLR values are connected with an increased risk of post-operative recurrence of hepatocellular cancer. More studies are needed for better clarify the biological mechanisms of this results.

Abstract
Minimal information is available concerning platelet-albumin-bilirubin (PALBI) grades in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following liver resection. This study aimed to investigate the predictive ability of PALBI grades in patients with a Child-Pugh class A score and hepatitis B virus-related (HBV-related) HCC after liver resection.The data of patients with HBV-related HCC who underwent liver resection from 2010 to 2017 at our center were reviewed (n = 785). Cox regression was used to determine factors independently associated with postoperative recurrence and mortality. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was used to estimate the predictive accuracy of different tools.During the follow-up period, 505 (64.3%) patients experienced recurrence, and 374 (47.6%) patients died. Multivariate analysis revealed that the tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage (HR = 1.591, 95%CI = 1.414-1.789, P < .001), PALBI grade (HR = 1.326, 95%CI = 1.139-1.544, P < .001), a high AFP level (HR = 1.382, 95%CI = 1.158-1.649, P < .001) and transfusion (HR = 1.364, 95%CI = 1.087-1.712, P = 0.007) were independently associated with recurrence. Additionally, microvascular invasion (HR = 1.674, 95%CI = 1.292-2.169, P < .001), beyond the Milan criteria (HR = 0.477, 95%CI = 0.346-0.657, P < .001), PALBI grade (HR = 1.356, 95%CI = 1.151-1.598, P < .001), a high AFP level (HR = 1.542, 95%CI = 1.252-1.900, P < .001), and transfusion (HR = 1.548, 95%CI = 1.199-1.999, P = 0.001) adversely impacted the overall survival. The AUCs of the PALBI grades for postoperative recurrence and mortality were significantly higher than the albumin-bilirubin grade and Child-Pugh score. The prognostic significance of the PALBI grade for postoperative recurrence and mortality was maintained when stratified by the TNM stage.The preoperative PALBI grade is a surrogate marker for the postoperative prognosis in patients with HBV-related HCC after liver resection.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma is the sixth most prevalent malignant tumor and the third most common cause of cancer-associated mortality. Statins have been investigated for carcinoma prevention and treatment. In addition, receptor-interacting protein 140 (RIP140) has been observed to inhibit the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and cell growth. The present study aimed to investigate whether simvastatin (SV) is able to induce SMCC-7721 cell apoptosis through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Initially, a cell model of RIP140 overexpression was established, and then cells were treated with SV. The cell growth, viability and apoptosis were measured by cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry. Furthermore, the expression levels of RIP140, β-catenin, c-myc and cyclin D1 were detected by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain, western blot analysis and immunofluorescence. The results demonstrated that SV significantly increased the expression of RIP140 in SMCC-7721 cells; however, β-catenin, c-myc and cyclin D1 levels were significantly decreased. Furthermore, the immunofluorescence assay of β-catenin confirmed that SV decreased the content of this protein in SMCC-7721 cells. Notably, RIP140 exerted a synergistic effect on the apoptosis rate induced by SV (RIP140 + SV group), while the alteration in RIP140, β-catenin, c-myc and cyclin D1 levels was more evident in the combination group as compared with the RIP140 or SV alone groups. In conclusion, these results suggested that SV is able to induce the apoptosis of SMCC-7721 cells through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, as well as that RIP140 and SV exert a synergistic effect on the inhibition of cell proliferation and survival.
