Abstract
The detection of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) allows for the determination of pregnancy and is thus crucial during early pregnancy testing. This study introduces a novel liquid crystal (LC) biosensor that employs Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) for signal amplification, thus enabling the detection of the HCG antigen in a micro, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The sensor design capitalizes on the unique properties of LC to facilitate the detection of HCG. In this research, the surface of the base substrate was first modified with material from DMOAP and APTES, and EDC/sulfo-NHS was used to couple AuNPs and β-hCG to form an AuNP-β-hCG conjugate that improves the coupling rate. The carboxyl group of the antibody was reacted with the aldehyde group of glutaraldehyde, which helps to fix the β-hCG antibody to the surface of the substrate. The HCG sample is immobilized on the surface of the substrate via antigen-antibody immunobinding. As signal amplifiers, the AuNPs can have a significant effect on the topology of the interface and the vertical order of the LC molecules, thus reducing the limit of detection. Finally, the limit of detection was calculated using the SPSS system, and the relationship between grey values and concentrations was also obtained. The detection limit for HCG can be as low as 1.916 × 10-3 mIU·mL-1 under ideal conditions. Compared to other detection methods for HCG, this structure provides a detection pathway with excellent sensitivity, low detection limits, and better specificity, thus offering a new idea for HCG or any other target requiring trace detection.

Abstract
Liquid crystal (LC)-based nanoformulations may efficiently deliver drugs and therapeutics to targeted biological sites. Lyotropic liquid crystalline phases (LLCPs) have received much interest in recent years due to their unique structural characteristics of both isotropic liquids and crystalline solids. These LLCPs can be utilized as promising drug delivery systems to deliver drugs, proteins, peptides and vaccines because of their improved drug loading, stabilization, and controlled drug release. The effects of molecule shape, microsegregation, and chirality are very important in the formation of liquid crystalline phases (LCPs). Homogenization of self-assembled amphiphilic lipids, water and stabilizers produces LLCPs with different types of mesophases, bicontinuous cubic (cubosomes) and inverse hexagonal (hexosomes). Moreover, many studies have also shown higher bioadhesivity and biocompatibility of LCs due to their structural resemblance to biological membranes, thus making them more efficient for targeted drug delivery. In this review, an outline of the engineering aspects of LLCPs and polymer-based LLCPs is summarized. Moreover, it covers parenteral, oral, transdermal delivery and medical imaging of LC in targeting various tissues and is discussed with a scope to design more efficient next-generation novel nanosystems. In addition, a detailed overview of advanced liquid crystal-based drug delivery for vaccines and biomedical applications is reviewed.

Abstract
A simple, fast, low cost, sensitive, intuitive, visual, label-free, and smartphone-assisted aptamer sensor based on colorimetric assay for the measurement of zearalenone was constructed. The nucleic acid aptamer of zearalenone was used as the recognition element and gold nanoparticles were used as the indicator. Several factors that could influence sensitivity, including the concentration of aptamer and NaCl, and incubation time, and specificity, have been investigated. The results showed that under the optimal conditions, the signal had a good linear relationship when zearalenone concentration is 5-300 ng/mL. A linear regression equation is Y = 0.0003X + 0.5128 (R2 = 0.9989) and a limit of detection is 5 ng/mL. The specificity of the sensor was good. Zearalenone in maize samples were successfully measured. The recoveries of Zearalenone are 81.3 %-96.4 %. The whole process takes only 15 min to complete. The smartphone assisted colorimetric aptamer sensor can be used for the detection of zearalenone in maize.

Abstract
A liquid crystal (LC)-based aptasensor was developed that can detect 17β-estradiol (E2) at the picomolar level. This aptasensor is based on competitive reactions of the aptamer that interacts with cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and E2 at the aqueous/LC interface. The long alkyl chain of CTAB anchored the 4-cyano-4'-pentylbiphenyl (5CB) to a homeotropic state and controls the local anchoring depending on the extent of electrostatic interaction with the aptamer. Upon addition of the aptamer solution to the CTAB-saturated LC layer, LCs change from dark to bright optical response. This is due to the perturbed orientation of 5CB at the aqueous/LC interface as a result of electrostatic attraction of the cationic group of CTAB and the phosphate group of the aptamer. The conformational change of the aptamer due to specific binding with E2 weakens the electrostatic attraction between CTAB and aptamer. When specific binding becomes relatively dominant, CTAB induces the orientation of LCs to the homeotropic state, resulting in a dark optical image observed. We also analyzed the change in the optical response of LCs according to the interfacial events and compared the grayscale values of the optical image for each concentration of E2 to determine the detection limit. Accordingly, the detection limit of the E2 sensor was found to be 3.1 pM (0.8 pg/ml) in Tris-buffered saline (TBS), and 6.8 pM (1.9 pg/ml) in human urine. The LC-based optical aptasensor was thus shown to be highly sensitive and selective with no requirement for complex analysis equipment.

Abstract
In this study, a liquid crystal (LC)-based assay for the real-time detection of tetracycline (Tc) was developed. The sensor was constructed by implementing an LC-based platform that utilized the chelating properties of Tc to target Tc metal ions. This design enabled Tc-dependent induction of changes in the optical image of the LC; these modifications could then be observed in real-time with the naked eye. The performance of the sensor in detecting Tc was investigated with various metal ions to identify the most effective metal ion for Tc detection. In addition, the selectivity of the sensor was evaluated using different antibiotics. A correlation between Tc concentration and the optical intensity of the LC optical images was established, which enabled the quantification of Tc concentrations. The proposed method can detect Tc concentrations with a detection limit as low as 2.67 pM. Tests were conducted on milk, honey, and serum samples, which demonstrated that the proposed assay is highly accurate and reliable. The high sensitivity and selectivity of the proposed method make it a promising tool for real-time Tc detection, with potential applications in fields ranging from biomedical research to agriculture.

Abstract
A liquid crystal-based assay (LC) was developed to monitor paraoxon by incorporating a Cu2+ -coated substrate and the inhibitory effect of paraoxon with acetylcholinesterase (AChE). We observed that thiocholine (TCh), a hydrolysate of AChE and acetylthiocholine (ATCh), interfered with the alignment of 5CB films through a reaction between Cu2+ ions and the thiol moiety of TCh. The catalytic activity of AChE was inhibited in the presence of paraoxon due to the irreversible interaction between TCh and paraoxon; consequently, no TCh molecule was available to interact with Cu2+ on the surface. This resulted in a homeotropic alignment of the liquid crystal. The proposed sensor platform sensitively quantified paraoxon with a detection limit of 2.20 ± 0.11 (n = 3) nM within a range of 6 to 500 nM. The specificity and reliability of the assay were verified by measuring paraoxon in the presence of various suspected interfering substances and spiked samples. As a result, the sensor based on LC can potentially be used as a screening tool for accurate evaluation of paraoxon and other organophosphorus compounds.

Abstract
A novel aptamer-based fluorescent-sensing platform with a triple-helix molecular switch (THMS) was proposed as a switch for detecting the arsenic(III) ion. The triple helix structure was prepared by binding a signal transduction probe and arsenic aptamer. Additionally, the signal transduction probe labeled with fluorophore (FAM) and quencher (BHQ1) was employed as a signal indicator. The proposed aptasensor is rapid, simple and sensitive, with a limit of detection of 69.95 nM. The decrease in peak fluorescence intensity shows a linear dependence, with the concentration of As(III) in the range of 0.1 µM to 2.5 µM. The whole detection process takes 30 min. Moreover, the THMS-based aptasensor was also successfully used to detect As(III) in a real sample of Huangpu River water with good recoveries. The aptamer-based THMS also presents distinct advantages in stability and selectivity. The proposed strategy developed herein can be extensively applied in the field of food inspection.

Abstract
A turn-on fluorescent aptasensor based on a paper-based microfluidic chip was developed to detect arsenite via aptamer competition strategy and smartphone imaging. The chip was prepared by wax-printing hydrophilic channels on filter paper. It is portable, low-cost, and environmentally friendly. Double-stranded DNA consisting of aptamer and fluorescence-labeled complementary strands was immobilized on the reaction zone of the paper chip. Due to the specific strong binding between aptamer and arsenite, the fluorescent complementary strand was squeezed out and driven by capillary force to the detection area of the paper chip, so that the fluorescent signal arose in the detection area under the excitation wavelength of 488 nm. Arsenite can be quantified by using smartphone imaging and RGB image analysis. Under the optimal conditions, the paper-based microfluidic aptasensor exhibited excellent linear response over a wide range of 1 to 1000 nM, with a detection limit as low as 0.96 nM (3σ).

Abstract
The significance of DNA is no longer limited to its role as a biological information carrier; as a natural polymer, it also become in the field of materials. Single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) molecules with specific sequences can form a G-quadruplex or hairpin-shaped conformation with specific heavy metal ions through coordination bonds. In this study, ssDNA molecules of the four sequences were prepared into hybrid assemblies with one of the famous display materials, the tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3) semiconductor. Based on these hybrid assemblies, heavy metal ions, namely Pb2+, Hg2+, Cd2+ and As3+, were detected individually at the ppb level. Apart from this, in practical application, many samples containing heavy metal ions are digested with acid. By introducing MES buffer solution, the influence of acidity on the fluorescent signal of Alq3 was excluded. This strategy showed promising results in the practical application of detecting heavy metal ions in shrub branches and leaves.

Determination of chlorothalonil levels through inhibitory effect on papain activity at protein-decorated liquid crystal interfaces. Mikrochim Acta 2022; 189:292. [PMID: 35879491 PMCID: PMC9313939 DOI: 10.1007/s00604-022-05396-1] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/17/2022] [Accepted: 06/22/2022] [Indexed: 11/11/2022]
Abstract
A liquid crystal (LC)-based assay was developed to detect chlorothalonil (CHL). The detection principle is based on (i) the electrostatic interaction between the positively charged protein protamine (PRO) with the negatively charged phospholipid dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-rac-(1-glycerol) sodium salt (DOPG) and (ii) the CHL-mediated inhibition of papain (PAP) activity. The aqueous/LC interface was decorated with a monolayer of DOPG and PRO that self-assembled via electrostatic interactions. PAP can hydrolyze PRO, resulting in the realignment of an LC by DOPG, inducing a shift in the LC response from bright to dark. The addition of CHL can inhibit the activity of PAP, leading to the attraction of PRO to DOPG and the consequent disruption of the LC orientation. The orientation change of the LC in the presence or absence of CHL can be observed from the changes in its optical appearance using a polarized light microscope. Under optimal conditions, the developed assay achieved a detection limit of 0.196 pg mL−1 within a range of determination of 0.65–200 pg mL−1. The selectivity of the assay was verified in the presence of carbendazim and imidacloprid. The practical application of the proposed assay was demonstrated by its use to determine the levels of CHL in food extracts and environmental samples, which yielded recoveries and relative standard deviations (RSD) in the ranges of 87.39–99.663% and 1.03–6.32%, respectively.

Abstract
Arsenic is a ubiquitously found metalloid in our ecosystem because of natural and anthropogenic activities. People exposed to a higher level of arsenic become susceptible to several disorders, including cancer. According to current statistics, the population chronically exposed to arsenic has surpassed 200 million. Therefore, its detection in our environment is of great importance. There are many analytical techniques for the assessment of arsenic in different kinds of environmental samples. Among these techniques, the biosensor is considered a convenient platform and a widely applied analytical device for rapid qualitative and quantitative analysis in the field of environmental monitoring, food safety, and disease diagnosis. Today, there is a trend of including nanomaterials in sensors and biosensors because it empowers researchers to explore new arsenic detection methods and to enhance their analytical capabilities. In this review article, we summarized the latest developments in arsenic biosensors in particular with emphasis on the works based on cell-free approaches that are protein/enzyme-based, DNA-based, and aptamer-based utilizing various transduction platforms. In the meantime, we compared the capabilities that were related to these cell-free arsenic biosensors. This review article also highlights the development and application of novel nanomaterials for arsenic detection.

Abstract
The application of liquid crystal (LC) materials has undergone a modern-day renaissance from its classical use in electronics industry as display devices to new-fangled techniques for optically detecting biological and chemical analytes. This review article deals with the emergence of LC materials as invaluable material for their use as label-free sensing elements in the development of optical, electro-optical and electrochemical biosensors. The property of LC molecules to change their orientation on perturbation by any external stimuli or on interaction with bioanalytes or chemical species has been utilized by many researches for the fabrication of high sensitive LC-biosensors. In this review article we categorized LC-biosensor based on biomolecular reaction mechanism viz. enzymatic, nucleotides and immunoreaction in conjunction with operating principle at different LC interface namely LC-solid, LC-aqueous and LC-droplets. Based on bimolecular reaction mechanism, the application of LC has been delineated with recent progress made in designing of LC-interface for the detection of bio and chemical analytes of proteins, virus, bacteria, clinically relevant compounds, heavy metal ions and environmental pollutants. The review briefly describes the experimental set-ups, sensitivity, specificity, limit of detection and linear range of various viable and conspicuous LC-based biosensor platforms with associated advantages and disadvantages therein.

Abstract
Kunitz trypsin inhibitor (KTI), a harmful protein, seriously affects food hygiene and safety. Therefore, a sensitive, efficient, and rapid method for KTI detection is urgently needed. Aptamers are short and single-stranded (ss) DNA that recognize target molecules with high affinity. This work used graphene oxide-SELEX (GO-SELEX) to screen KTI aptamers. The positive and reverse screening was designed to ensure the high specificity and affinity of the selected aptamers. After 10 rounds of screening, multiple nucleic acid chains were obtained, and the chains were sequenced. Three aptamers with better affinity were obtained, and the values of the dissociation constant (K d) were calculated to be 52.6 nM, 22.7 nM, and 67.9 nM, respectively. Finally, a colorimetric aptamer biosensor based on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was constructed. The biosensor exhibited a broader linear range of 30-750 ng/ml, with a lower detection limit of 18 ng/ml, and the spiked recovery rate was between 98.2% and 103.3%. This experiment preliminary demonstrated the potential of the application of KTI aptamer in the real sample tests.

Abstract
This work established a liquid crystal (LC) aptasensor for simple and rapid detection of ibuprofen, a typical pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) pollutant. A negatively charged DNA aptamer specific for ibuprofen and a positively charged amphiphilic surfactant, hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), were incubated with the sample and then directly added onto the LC interface. In the presence of ibuprofen, the specific binding of ibuprofen with the DNA aptamer will release CTAB, which then adsorbed at the LC-aqueous interface and induced the orientational change of LCs to homeotropic orientation with a dark optical signal output. While in the absence of ibuprofen, the DNA aptamer binds with CTAB through hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions, LCs remained in the planar orientation with a bright optical signal output. This LC aptasensor also has good specificity for ibuprofen and can even detect ibuprofen drug in tap water. Moreover, the response time of the LC aptasensor is fast in minutes. Additionally, this LC aptasensor benefits in monitoring the water quality and inspires the exploration of a general platform for PPCPs detection.

Abstract
Quinoline yellow (QY) is one of the popular synthetic food colorants and in food industry greatly used. Developing accurate and simple QY detection procedures is of major considerable importance in ensuring food safety. Hence, it is important to detect this food colorant effectively to reduce risk. Herein, an innovative liquid crystal (LC)-based sensor was designed for the label-free and ultra-sensitive detecting of the QY by means of a cationic surfactant-decorated LC interface. The nematic liquid crystal in touch with CTAB revealed a homeotropic alignment, when QY was injected into the LC-cell, the homeotropic alignment consequently altered to a planar one by electrostatic interactions between QY and CTAB. The designed LC-based sensor detected QY at the too much trace level as low as 0.5 fM with analogous selectivity. The suggested LC-based sensor is a rapid, convenient and simple procedure for label-free detection of QY in food industrial and safety control application.

Abstract
Here, we designed a simple, rapid, and ultrasensitive colorimetric aptasensor for detecting anatoxin-a (ATX-a). The sensor employs a DNA aptamer as the sensing element and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as probes. Adsorption of the aptamer onto the AuNP surface can protect AuNPs from aggregation in NaCl solution, thus maintaining their dispersion state. In the presence of ATX-a, the specific binding of the aptamer with ATX-a results in a conformational change in the aptamer, which facilitates AuNP aggregation and, consequently, a color change of AuNPs from red to blue in NaCl solution. This color variation is directly associated with ATX-a concentration and can be easily measured using a UV/Vis spectrophotometer. The absorbance variation is linearly proportional to ATX-a concentration across the concentration range of 10 pM to 200 nM, with a detection limit of 4.45 pM and high selectivity against other interferents. This strategy was successfully applied to the detection of ATX-a in lake water samples. Thus, the present aptasensor is a promising alternative method for the rapid detection of ATX-a in the environment.

Abstract
Heavy metal pollution has become more and more serious with industrial development and resource exploitation. Because heavy metal ions are difficult to be biodegraded, they accumulate in the human body and cause serious threat to human health. However, the conventional methods to detect heavy metal ions are more strictly to the requirements by detection equipment, sample pretreatment, experimental environment, etc. Aptasensor has the advantages of strong specificity, high sensitivity and simple preparation to detect small molecules, which provides a new direction platform in the detection of heavy metal ions. This paper reviews the selection of aptamers as target for heavy metal ions since the 21th century and aptasensors application for detection of heavy metal ions that were reported in the past five years. Firstly, the selection methods for aptamers with high specificity and high affinity are introduced. Construction methods and research progress on sensor based aptamers as recognition element are also introduced systematically. Finally, the challenges and future opportunities of aptasensors in detecting heavy metal ions are discussed.

Abstract
Liquid crystals (LCs), as a promising branch of highly-sensitive, quick-response, and low-cost materials, are widely applied to the detection of weak external stimuli and have attracted significant attention. Over the past decade, many research groups have been devoted to developing LC-based biosensors due to their self-assembly potential and functional diversity. In this paper, recent investigations on the design and application of LC-based biosensors are reviewed, based on the phenomenon that the orientation of LCs can be directly influenced by the interactions between biomolecules and LC molecules. The sensing principle of LC-based biosensors, as well as their signal detection by probing interfacial interactions, is described to convert, amplify, and quantify the information from targets into optical and electrical parameters. Furthermore, commonly-used LC biosensing targets are introduced, including glucose, proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, cells, microorganisms, ions, and other micromolecules that are critical to human health. Due to their self-assembly potential, chemical diversity, and high sensitivity, it has been reported that tunable stimuli-responsive LC biosensors show bright perspectives and high superiorities in biological applications. Finally, challenges and future prospects are discussed for the fabrication and application of LC biosensors to both enhance their performance and to realize their promise in the biosensing industry.

Abstract
We developed a liquid crystal (LC) aptamer biosensor for the sensitive detection of amoxicillin (AMX). The AMX aptamer was immobilized onto the surface of a glass slide modified with a mixed self-assembled layer of dimethyloctadecyl [3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl] ammonium chloride (DMOAP) and (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES). The long alkyl chains of DMOAP maintained the LC molecules in a homeotropic orientation and induced a dark optical appearance under a polarized light microscope (POM). In the presence of AMX, the specific binding of the aptamer and AMX molecules induced a conformational change in the aptamers, leading to the disruption of the homeotropic orientation of LCs, resulting in a bright optical appearance. The developed aptasensor showed high specificity and a low detection limit of 3.5 nM. Moreover, the potential application of the developed aptasensor for the detection of AMX in environmental samples was also demonstrated. Therefore, the proposed aptasensor is a promising platform for simple, rapid, and label-free monitoring of AMX in an actual water environment with high selectivity and sensitivity.

Abstract
We report a liquid crystal (LC)-based aptasensor for the detection of malathion using a cationic surfactant-decorated LC interface. In this method, LCs displayed dark optical images when in contact with aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) solution due to the formation of a self-assembled CTAB monolayer at the aqueous/LC interface, which induced the homeotropic orientation of LCs. With the addition of malathion aptamer, the homeotropic orientation of LCs changed to a planar one due to the interactions between CTAB and the aptamer, resulting in a bright optical image. In the presence of malathion, the formation of aptamer-malathion complexes caused a conformational change of the aptamers, thereby weakening the interactions between CTAB and the aptamers. Therefore, CTAB is free to induce a homeotropic ordering of the LCs, which corresponds to a dark optical image. The developed sensor exhibited high specificity for malathion determination and a low detection limit of 0.465 nM was achieved. Moreover, the proposed biosensor was successfully applied to detect malathion in tap water, river water, and apple samples. The proposed LC-based aptasensor is a simple, rapid, and convenient platform for label-free monitoring of malathion in environmental samples.

Abstract
Heavy metals cause considerable environmental pollution due to their extent and non-degradability in the environment. Analysis and trace levels of arsenic, lead, mercury, and cadmium as the most toxic heavy metals show that they can cause various hazards in humans' health. To achieve rapid, high-sensitivity methods for analyzing ultra-trace amounts of heavy metals in different environmental and biological samples, novel biosensors have been designed with the participation of strategies applied in nanotechnology. This review attempted to investigate the novel, sensitive, efficient, cost-benefit, point of care, and user-friendly biosensors designed to detect these heavy metals based on functional mechanisms. The study's search strategies included examining the primary databases from 2015 onwards and various keywords focusing on heavy metal biosensors' performance and toxicity mechanisms. The use of aptamers and whole cells as two important bio-functional nanomaterials is remarkable in heavy metal diagnostic biosensors' bioreceptor design. The application of hybridized nanomaterials containing a specific physicochemical function in the presence of a suitable transducer can improve the sensing performance to achieve an integrated detection system. Our study showed that in addition to both labeled and label-free detection strategies, a wide range of nanoparticles and nanocomposites were used to modify the biosensor surface platform in the detection of heavy metals. The detection limit and linear dynamic range as an essential characteristic of superior biosensors for the primary toxic metals are studied. Furthermore, the perspectives and challenges facing the design of heavy metal biosensors are outlined. The development of novel biosensors and the application of nanotechnology, especially in real samples, face challenges such as the capability to simultaneously detect multiple heavy metals, the interference process in complex matrices, the efficiency and stability of nanomaterials implemented in various laboratory conditions.

An acetylcholinesterase-based biosensor for the detection of pesticides using liquid crystals confined in microcapillaries. Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces 2021; 200:111587. [PMID: 33529929 DOI: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2021.111587] [Citation(s) in RCA: 6] [Impact Index Per Article: 2.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/28/2020] [Revised: 12/28/2020] [Accepted: 01/19/2021] [Indexed: 11/20/2022]
Abstract
Here, we demonstrate a capillary-sensing platform based on liquid crystals (LCs) confined in microcapillaries for simple and sensitive detection of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and its inhibitors. LC droplets were formed through sequential injection of LCs and an aqueous solution into trichloro(octyl)silane (OTS)-treated microcapillaries. When the confined LC droplets make contact with a cationic surfactant solution, myristoylcholine chloride (Myr), the formation of a Myr monolayer at the aqueous/LC interface induces a horizontal orientation of the LCs at the interface along the microcapillary, producing an optical LC droplet texture of a four-petal shape. On the other hand, AChE can catalyze the hydrolysis of Myr into choline and myristic acid. The hydrolyzed Myr is unable to form a monolayer at the aqueous/LC interface, and therefore the confined LC droplets exhibit two bright-lined optical images when in contact with the pre-incubated mixture of Myr and AChE, corresponding to the homeotropic orientation of LCs at the interface. However, in the presence of AChE-inhibiting pesticides, such as fenobucarb and malathion, the activity of AChE is inhibited, and thus, the enzymatic hydrolysis of Myr cannot occur. As a result, the confined LC droplets present the four petal-shaped optical images when in contact with the pre-incubated mixture of Myr, AChE, and pesticides. Based on this principle, an LC-based microcapillary sensor was developed and utilized for the detection of pesticides. Using this sensing platform, fenobucarb and malathion were detected at limits of 5 pg/mL and 2.5 pg/mL, respectively. Moreover, the proposed biosensor was successfully applied to the determination of pesticides in real river water. Therefore, this LC-based microcapillary sensor is a promising platform for simple, rapid, and label-free detection of pesticides with very high sensitivity.
