Abstract
The need for metal ion sensors is increasing daily due to the harmful impact of metal ions on human health, the environment, and the aquatic ecosystem. The present study highlights synthesizing an azomethine functionalized triazole allied organosilane (5a) probe as a turn-off fluorometric sensor for Sn(II) recognition with high anti-interference even when the other metal ions are present. The probe (5a) offers a detection limit of up to 6.4 × 10-10 M which is much lesser than the WHO acceptable limit (2 µg/L) of Sn(II) in drinking water. The fluorometric and absorbance-based UV-visible spectroscopy method is used for this analysis due to their ease of sample preparation, low cost, quick analysis, high sensitivity and selectivity, and less time-consuming nature. The real sample analysis (recovery % more than 97) results of the probe (5a) prove that it can detect the Sn(II) in different water samples increasing its practical applicability. The biological activities of the presently synthesized compounds were also studied providing valuable insights into their biological potential. Probe (5a) showed effective antioxidant potential. Bacterial domain inhibition by Probe (5a) was also analyzed using molecular docking, which showed good inhibitory activity by the probe (5a).

Abstract
A new fluorescent sensor based on diethylaminosalicylaldehyde-thiosemicarbazide (DST) was studied using a combination of density functional theory calculations and experimental investigations. DST was able to detect the metal ions Ag+ and Hg2+ in the presence of various competing metal ions and anions, with detection limits of 0.45 and 0.34 µM, respectively. The DST sensor could operate in a fully aqueous environment and within a wide pH range from 5 to 9. Density functional theory studies supported the experimental findings in determining the stable structures of the DST sensor and the complexes between DST and the Ag+ and Hg2+ ions, as well as elucidating the fluorescence ON-OFF mechanism in the DST sensor and the complexes.

Abstract
In this work, the synthesis of BODIPY-phenyl-triazole labelled coumarins (BPhTCs) using a two-step approach is described. The influence of the BODIPY appending on the photophysical, electrochemical and thermal properties of the phenyl-triazole-coumarin precursors (PhTCs) was investigated. Band gap energies were measured by absorption spectroscopy (2.20 ± 0.02 eV in the solid and 2.35 ± 0.01 eV in solution) and cyclic voltammetry (2.10 ± 0.05 eV). The results are supported by DFT calculations confirming the presence of lowest LUMO levels that facilitate the electron injection and stabilize the electron transport. Their charge-transport parameters were measured in Organic Field-Effect Transistor (OFET) devices. BPhTCs showed an ambipolar transistor behavior with good n-type charge mobilities (10-2 cm2V-1s-1) allowing these derivatives to be employed as promising semiconducting crystalline and fluorescent materials with good thermal and air stability up to 250 °C.

Selective turn-on sensing of adenosine diphosphate and phosphate anions by ruthenium (II) polypyridine anchored p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene platform. SPECTROCHIMICA ACTA. Abstract
BACKGROUND Nucleoside polyphosphate (NPP) anions are important for enzymatic activity and should be monitored by scientists in industry and medicine. By elucidating enzyme kinetics and processes, it aids in the discovery of effective inhibitors and activators. Nucleoside polyphosphate (NPP) anions are used by kinases, GTPases, and glycosyltransferases (GTs). Phosphorylation of certain amino acid residues (Ser, Thr, and Tyr) on proteins requires the breakdown of ATP by protein kinases, which produces ADP. Protein kinases, breakdown of ATP, and NPP are the focus of oncology drug development because the aberrant control of kinase activity is a common cause of cancer. RESULTS However, a discriminative turn-on fluorescent property is exhibited by non-fluorescent p-tertbutylcalix[4]arene modified 1,2,3-triazole containing bis-ruthenium polypyridyl complex (RL) upon the addition of phosphate anions such as (dihydrogen pyrophosphate (H2P2O72-) and dihydrogen phosphate (H2PO4-)) in CH3CN solvent and Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP) in CH3CN/HEPES (pH = 7.4) buffer (9/1, v/v). The probe RL shows a better-recognizing ability with pyrophosphate anion (H2P2O72-) than dihydrogen phosphate anion (H2PO4-). With H2P2O72- and H2PO4- anions, the RL detection limit was calculated to be as low as 83 nM and 198 nM, respectively. SIGNIFICANCE The calix[4]arene macrocycle's excellent size and binding cone conformation make it a good host-guest interface for the pyrophosphate anion and ADP. The bis-ruthenium polypyridyl complex's connection to the p-tertbutyl calix[4]arene moiety creates the ADP selectivity turn-on sensor. When moving from mono-nuclear to bi-nuclear ruthenium complex anchored on p-tertbutyl calix[4]arene, the probe can differentiate ADP, ATP, and AMP. Furthermore, this platform is a great resource for creating devices to simultaneously assess phosphate anions in environmental samples.

Abstract
In this study, a novel, highly sensitive fluorescent sensor (E)-2-((2-(benzo[d] thiazol-2-yl) quinolin-8-yl) oxy)-N'-(4-(5, 5-difluoro-1, 3, 7, 9-tetramethyl-5H-4λ4, 5λ4-dipyrrolo [1, 2-c:2', 1'-f] [1, 3, 2] diazaborinin-10-yl) benzylidene) acetohydrazide (TQB) was developed for dual mode of Ag+ detection (colorimetric/fluorescence), and its structural and spectral properties were characterized by 1H NMR, ESI-MS, X-ray, ultraviolet and fluorescence photometry. It is found that TQB could specifically and efficiently identify Ag+ among many other metal ions in CH3OH/H2O (7:3 v/v, pH = 7.23) buffer. The maximum absorption wavelength of TQB is red-shifted while its fluorescence is quenched with a quenching rate of 88.7%. The energy difference between TQB and TQB-Ag+ complex was calculated by DFT, and the applicability of TQB was verified by paper strip test. In addition, TQB has been successfully applied to the determination of Ag+ in real water samples with good reversibility and recoveries.

Abstract
On the basis of the "seeing is believing" concept and the existing theory of Hg2+ coordination chemistry, for the first time, we innovatively designed and synthesized a visual-volumetric sensor platform with fluorescein and uracil functionalized polyacrylamide hydrogel. Without the aid of any complicated instruments and power sources, the sensor-enabled quantitative μM-level Hg2+ detection Hg2+ by reading graduation on a pipette with the naked eye. The sensor undergoes volumetric response and shows a wide linear response range to Hg2+ (1.0 × 10-6-5.0 × 10-5 mol L-1) with 2.8 × 10-7 mol L-1 as the detection limit. The highly selective (easily distinguished Hg2+ from other common metal ions), rapid response (∼30 min), and acceptable repeatability (RSD < 5% in all cases) demonstrated that the developed sensor is suitable for onsite practical use for the determination of Hg2+ while being low-cost, simple, and portable. The design principles of the obtained materials and the construction techniques and methods of the sensors described in our study provide a new idea for the research and development of smart materials and a series of visual-volumetric sensors for other analytes.

Abstract
Here in, we demonstrate a selective detection of Ag+ ion by the anthracene-based schiff base sensor AMC. The recognition event among sensor AMC and Ag+ ion was investigated by enhanced absorption band, red-shifted quenched emission spectra, electrochemical studies and DFT computational studies. The presence of Ag+ ion to solution of AMC quenched almost 50 % emission intensity of the ligand band. Data from high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-HRMS), Ag+ titrations, and Job's plot studies all show that Ag+ binds to AMC in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio. The quantitative parameters of sensor for silver ion are determined as the limit of detection (LOD) 5.95 × 10-7 M, and limit of quantitation (LOQ) 1.98 × 10-8 M in the linear range 3.48-20.31 × 10-6 M with good association affinity of 5.030 × 103 M-1. LMCT phenomenon from insilico studies, is in good agreement with the results obtained from other performed spectroscopic techniques. In addition, this sensor AMC was also successfully applied to real water samples for the identification and measurement of Ag+ ions.

Abstract
In this paper, we successfully synthesized a fluorescent hybrid material (f-Silica gel) for the removal and recognition of cations. A Bodipy derivative was used as a source of fluorescent material. The characterization of Bodipy derivative and the modified surfaces were performed by some techniques like NMR, XRD, SEM, and FT-IR. The spectroscopic studies (complex stoichiometry, pH effect, response time) were carried out with fluorescence spectroscopy for the sensitive and selective recognition of Cu (II) ions. The LOD (limit of detection) was calculated as 4.63 μM and the most optimum response time was determined as 25 min. Moreover, the complex interaction between f-Silica gel and Cu (II) ions stables generally in the range of pH: 1-12. f-Silica gel can be also used as a solid support surface to remove Cu (II) ions from the wastewater. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms of Cu (II) on the f-Silica gel were determined with several parameters such as the amount of adsorbent, temperature, and pH. Langmuir adsorption isotherm model was performed for the adsorption of Cu (II) ions and the maximum capacity was found to be 19. 920 mg/g. The kinetic data ensured that the R2 value was obtained as 0.9941 from the kinetic model (pseudo-second-order). Thus, it is very close to the desired value (1) and the value of qe(expe) is very close to the value of qe(calc). The thermodynamic results support the spontaneous, random, and endothermic adsorption process. All results indicated that the hybrid material can be used as both a sensor and an adsorbent for the detection and removal of Cu (II) ions in environmental processes.

Abstract
Silver ion pollution is a great threat to global environment and public healthcare today. Thus, quick, portable and sensitive assays for Ag+ tracing are highly needed. Herein, a reliable fluorescent and colorimetric dual-channel assay has been constructed for Ag+ detection by utilizing a terbium-based fluorescent nanomaterial (named as Tb-DPA) and a Pt/Pd nanoflower (Pt/Pd NF)-triggered reaction between N-ethyl-N-(3-sulfopropyl)-3-methylaniline sodium salt (TOPS) and 4-amino-antipyrine (4-AAP). Initially, in the sensing system containing 4-AAP, TOPS, Tb-DPA and Pt/Pd NF, TOPS and 4-AAP is catalyzed by Pt/Pd NF to produce a purple compound (called as PC1), which endows a broad UV absorption that can fully cover the emission band of Tb-DPA. Thus, the system exhibits a high UV absorption (originating from PC1) and a low fluorescence intensity (originating from Tb-DPA) which has been quenched by PC1 through a filtering effect. However, when the system meets Ag+, the oxidase-like activity of Pt/Pd NF will be inhibited, leading less amount of PC1. As a result, the system exhibits a decreased UV absorption and a recovered fluorescence intensity, both of which can be used for Ag+ detection, reporting low detection limits of 3.63 nM and 1.63 nM, respectively. Specially, results from the dual-channel assay can mutually validate each other, improving the detection reliability. Moreover, this dual-mode assay shows good capability toward Ag+ detection in real samples, illustrating the potential for practical applications.

Ratiometric fluorescent detection of silver nanoparticles in aqueous samples using peptide-based fluorogenic probes with aggregation-induced emission characteristics. JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2021; 411:125041. Abstract
The quantification of silver nanoparticles and Ag+ contamination in the aquatic ecosystem has attracted considerable interest. Benzoimidazolyl-cyanovinylene (1) was synthesized as an aggregation-induced emission fluorophore, and a fluorescent peptidyl probe (2 and 3) bearing this fluorophore was developed. The fluorescent peptidyl probes coordinated with Ag+ selectively among various metal ions, leading to a ratiometric response to Ag+ in pure aqueous solutions. Furthermore, an "in situ" protocol was developed to quantify AgNPs using 2 with H2O2 as an oxidizing reagent. The fluorescent detection method for Ag+ and AgNPs showed promising detection properties such as high selectivity, high sensitivity, fast response, visible light excitation, well-operations in pure aqueous solution, and large fluorescent signal change. The detection limits of Ag+ (0.64 ppb) and AgNPs (1.1 ppb) were significantly low. According to the binding mode study, Ag+ induced the formation of a 2:1 complex between 2 and Ag+ and the chirality of the peptide part of the probe was not critical for this process. The formation of aggregates of the probe triggered by Ag+ from AgNPs induced a significant change in fluorescence. Furthermore, the amounts of spiked AgNPs in groundwater and tap water were quantified using the fluorescent detection method with 2.

Abstract
Herein, we introduced a new chemosensor, bis-BODIPY linked-triazole based on catechol (BODIPY-OO) prepared by bridging two units of BODIPY fluorophore/triazole binding group with a catechol unit. A solution of this compound displayed 4- and 2-fold enhancements in fluorescence intensity after adding a mole equivalent amount of Ag+ and Hg2+ ions in methanol media, respectively. 1H NMR titrations of BODIPY-OO with Ag+ and Hg2+ suggested that the triazole was involved in the recognition process. BODIPY-OO showed high sensitivity toward Ag+ and Hg2+ over other metal ions with detection limits of 0.45 μM and 1 μM, respectively. It can also distinguish Hg2+ from Ag+ by addition of an EDTA. This compound can therefore be employed as practical fluorescent probe for monitoring the presence of Ag+ and Hg2+ ions. BODIPY–triazole–catechol combination serves as a “turn-on” fluorescent probe for dual detection and differentiation of Hg2+ and Ag+ ions.![]()

Abstract
1,2,3-Triazole-imidazole derivatives (TA-IM) were prepared as fluorescent probes for silver ion detection. The design principle is the incorporation of an intramolecular H-bond between the imidazole and triazole moiety that enables a co-planar conformation to achieve fluorescence emission in the UV-blue range. Screening of different metal ions revealed excellent binding affinity of this new class of compounds toward silver ions in aqueous solution. The novel probe provided ultrafast detection (<30 s) even for a very low concentration of silver ions (in the nM range) with good linear correlation, making it a practical sensor for detection of silver ions.

Abstract
A multi-functional chemosensor 1 as silver and sulfide detector was synthesized by the combination of octopamine and 4-dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde. Sensor 1 exhibited a ratiometric fluorescence emission for Ag+ from blue to sky. The binding mode of 1 and Ag+ turned out to be a 1 : 1 ratio as determined using Job plot and electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectral analyses. The sensing mechanism of 1 with silver ion was unravelled by 1H NMR titrations and theoretical calculations. Sensor 1 also discerned sulfide by enhancing fluorescence intensity and changing colour from yellow to colourless in aqueous solution. The sensing properties of 1 toward S2- were investigated by using ESI-mass analysis, Job plot and 1H NMR titrations. Moreover, 1 could be used as a detector for sulfide in a wide pH range.
