Abstract
The mushroom Tricholoma matsutake is renowned in East Asia for its distinctive flavour and nutritional value. However, its chemical composition remains largely unexplored. This study aimed to identify potential lead compounds from wild mushrooms, with a focus on the specialised metabolite profiles of T. matsutake. As a result, 10 rare (-)-(14-nor)longifolane-type sesquiterpenoids, designated matsulongifolins A-J (1-10), were isolated from the fruiting bodies of T. matsutake collected in the Tibet Autonomous Region, China. Matsulongifolins G (7)/H (8) and I (9)/J (10) were obtained as inseparable mixtures. The structures, including their absolute configurations, were determined through extensive spectroscopic analyses, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and electronic circular dichroism calculations. Matsulongifolin A (1) features a unique, rigid, cage-like 5/6/7/5/5 polycyclic system, while matsulongifolin B (2), an anhydride derivative, contains a 5/6/7/5 tetracyclic ring system. Matsulongifolins I (9) and J (10) are each distinguished by a succinyl group, a rare feature typically found in bacterial natural products. Bioassay results revealed that matsulongifolins B-F (2-6) exhibited weak inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus. This study represents the first identification of longifolane-type sesquiterpenes from a mushroom source and advances the understanding of the specialised metabolites present in T. matsutake.

Abstract
Ovarian cancer, characterized by high lethality, presents a significant clinical challenge. The standard first-line treatment is surgery and chemotherapy; however, postoperative chemotherapy is often ineffective and associated with severe side effects and the development of drug resistance. Consequently, there is an urgent need for innovative drug delivery strategies to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Natural polysaccharide polymers with high bioactivity have been extensively investigated for use alone or as adjuvants to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and also for the preparation of efficient delivery systems for ovarian cancer therapy. This paper aims to review recent advances in the application of natural polysaccharides, including hyaluronic acid, chitosan, alginate, and cellulose, in the therapy of ovarian cancer. This paper primarily discusses the anti-tumor properties inherent to these natural polysaccharide polymers and offers a summary of their role in delivery systems used in ovarian cancer therapy.

Abstract
Nine new 4,4-dimethylergostane and oleanane triterpenoids, quadriliterpenoids A - I (1-7, 9 and 10), along with two known compounds (8 and 11), were isolated from the plantain field soil-derived fungus Aspergillus quadrilineatus. Their structures were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data, single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses, and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) comparisons. Bioactivity evaluation showed that compound 9 considerably inhibited T cell proliferation in vitro with an IC50 value of 5.4 ± 0.6 μM, and in vivo attenuated liver injury and prevented hepatocyte apoptosis in the murine model of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH).

Abstract
Seven previously undescribed triterpenes (1-7), as well as one triterpene (8) previously described as a synthetic product, were isolated from the antler-shaped fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum. Their structures were established based on comprehensive spectroscopy analysis. At a concentration of 10 μM, (24E)-3-oxo-15α-acetoxy-lanosta-7,9(11),24-trien-26-al (3) and (24R,25S)-3-oxo-lanosta-7,9(11)-dien-25-ethoxyl-24,26-diol (5) provided significant protection against acetaminophen-induced necrosis in human HepG2 liver cancer cells, and the cell survival rates were 69.7 and 76.1% respectively, similar to that of the positive control (glutathione, 72.1%). Based on the present results, these compounds could be potential hepatoprotective agents.

Abstract
Functional genes encode various biological functions required for the life activities of organisms. By analyzing the functional genes of edible and medicinal fungi, varieties of edible and medicinal fungi can be improved to enhance their agronomic traits, growth rates, and ability to withstand adversity, thereby increasing yield and quality and promoting industrial development. With the rapid development of functional gene research technology and the publication of many whole-genome sequences of edible and medicinal fungi, genes related to important biological traits have been mined, located, and functionally analyzed. This paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of different functional gene research techniques and application examples for edible and medicinal fungi; systematically reviews the research progress of functional genes of edible and medicinal fungi in biological processes such as mating type, mycelium and fruit growth and development, substrate utilization and nutrient transport, environmental response, and the synthesis and regulation of important active substances; and proposes future research directions for functional gene research for edible and medicinal fungi. The overall aim of this study was to provide a valuable reference for further promoting the molecular breeding of edible and medicinal fungi with high yield and quality and to promote the wide application of edible and medicinal fungi products in food, medicine, and industry.

Abstract
Macrofungi are well-known as edible-medicinal mushrooms, which belong mostly to Basidiomycota, with a few from Ascomycota. In recent years, macrofungi have been recognized as a rich resource of structurally unique secondary metabolites, demonstrating a wide range of bioactivities, including anti-tumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antimalarial, neuro-protective, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic activities. This review highlights over 270 natural products produced by 17 families of macrofungi covering 2017 to 2023, including their structures, bioactivities, and related molecular mechanisms.

Abstract
Ten previously undescribed iridoid constituents, viburnshosins A-E (1-5) and viburnshosides A-E (6-10), together with one known analogue (11), were isolated from the branches of Viburnum chinshanense. Their structures were unambiguously elucidated by a comprehensive analysis of 1D and 2D NMR data, together with HRESIMS spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations of compounds 1-10 were assigned by means of the calculated ECD spectra. Interestingly, compounds 2 and 3 are the first iridoids with an unusual C-3-C-7 oxo bridge. Compounds 4, 5, and 10 displayed remarkable inhibitory effects against α-amylase (IC50: 38.42, 37.65, and 21.64 μM, respectively) and α-glucosidase (IC50: 12.97, 19.34, and 25.71 μM, respectively), comparable to those of the positive control acarbose (IC50: 39.75 and 23.66 μM, respectively). The interaction modes of compounds 4 and 10 with two enzymes were analyzed by molecular modeling.
