Abstract
This work explores the study of a synthesized nickel complex as a possible inhibitor against the main protease (Mpro) of the recent emerging coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Overall, the template reaction of 3-acetyl-2-hydroxy-6-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one with nickel(II) chloride hexahydrate in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) medium leads to the formation of neutral nickel complex. This resulting complex is formulated as [Ni(DHA)2(DMF)2] on the basis of FT-IR, UV-Vis., single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, magnetic susceptibility and CV measurements as well as DFT quantum chemical calculations. Its single crystal suggests was found to be surrounded by the both pairs of molecules of DHA and DMF through six oxygen atoms with octahedral coordination sphere. The obtained magnetic susceptibilities are positive and agree with its paramagnetic state. In addition to the experimental investigations, optimized geometry, spectroscopic and electronic properties were also performed using DFT calculation with B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory. The nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of this complex are again examined. Some suitable quantum descriptors (EHOMO, ELUMO, Energy gap, Global hardness), Milliken atomic charge, Electrophilic potion and Molecular Electrostatic Potential) have been elegantly described. Molecular docking results demonstrated that the docked nickel complex displayed remarkable binding energy with Mpro. Besides, important molecular properties and ADME pharmacokinetic profiles of possible Mpro inhibitors were assessed by in silico prediction.

Abstract
This paper reports the synthesis, characterization, anticancer screening and quantum chemical calculation of a tetradentate Schiff base 2,2'-((1E,1'E)-((2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl)bis- (azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(4-fluorophenol) (L2F) and its Pd (II) complex (PdL2F). The compounds were characterized via UV-Visible, NMR, IR spectroscopy and single crystal x-ray diffraction. Density Functional Theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT calculations in gas and solvent phases were carried out using B3LYP, B3P86, CAM-B3LYP and PBE0 hybrid functionals combined with LanL2DZ basis set. Complexation of L2F to form PdL2F was observed to cause a bathochromic shift of the maximum absorption bands of n-π* from 327 to 410 nm; an upfield shift for δ (HC = N) from 8.30 to 7.96 ppm and a decreased wavenumber for ν(C = N) from 1637 to 1616 cm-1. Overall, the UV-Vis, NMR and IR spectral data are relatively well reproduced through DFT and TD-DFT methods. L2F and PdL2F showed IC50 of 90.00 and 4.10 μg/mL, respectively, against human colorectal carcinoma (HCT116) cell lines, signifying increased anticancer activity upon complexation with Pd (II).

Abstract
The oxo-vanadium-catalyzed redox disproportionation of activated alcohols (oxidation-reductive coupling, Ox-RC) produces carbonyl compounds and hydrocarbon dimers. A mechanistic study of this novel reaction is reported herein. Following our initial disclosure, new findings include the following: (1) The [(salimin)VO2]--catalyzed Ox-RC of Ph2CHOH in the presence of fluorene affords the products of H-atom abstraction and all possible hydrocarbon dimers. (2) Electronic substituent effects on the relative rates of Ox-RC with respect to 4-X-BnOH reactants and Bu4N[(Y-salimin)VO2] catalysts (1a-c) reveal (a) a correlation of the oxidation rate of X-BnOH reactants with the radical σ parameter and (b) correlation of the oxidation rate for (Y-salimin)VO2- with the standard Hammett σ parameter. (3) The ease of electrochemical reduction of 1a-c is Y = NO2 > OMe > H. (4) Ambient 1H NMR studies of the interaction of 1 with alcohols suggest only a weak equilibrium association. (5) Density functional theory computational modeling of the Ox-RC reaction supports a ping-pong-type catalytic pathway, beginning with alcohol oxidation by (salimin)VO2-, preferably by stepwise-H-atom transfer from the alcohol to 1, affording the carbonyl product and the reduced (salimin)V(III)(OH)2-. The reduction half-reaction likely begins with condensation of the latter species with R2CHOH to give the alkoxide complex (salimin)V(OR)OH-; homolysis of the R···OV(III)(salimin) bond affords (salimin)V(IV)OH(O)- and the R-radical; the latter dimerizes and the former can disproportionate via H-transfer to reform catalyst (salimin)VO2- (1) and (salimin)V(OH)2-.

Abstract
The current work reports the ultrasound-assisted synthesis of two nano binuclear copper complexes derived from novel tetradentate (N2O2) phenothiazine based Schiff bases. The synthesized compounds were characterized using the physicochemical methods, including 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FE-SEM, Mass, FT-IR, UV-Vis, elemental analysis, magnetic moment and molar conductance measurements. It is found that the geometrical structure of CuII2LnCl4 is distorted tetrahedral around the copper atoms using the results of 1H NMR, UV-Vis and magnetic moment studies. In addition, CuO nano particles were produced in the nano range (14.3-12.1nm) by the thermal decomposition of the copper complexes CuO NPs were characterized using FT-IR, FE-SEM, XRD, UV-Vis and photoluminescence methods and indicated a close accordance with the standard pattern. Also, the antioxidant studies revealed that the copper complexes exhibit comparable scavenging effects (against O2 and OH) with the standard antioxidants, such as vitamin C, while, they show more antioxidant activity than ligands. Similarly, the complexes show more antibacterial activity against four gram positive and gram negative bacteria in comparison to their Schiff base ligands. furthermore, The optimized structure, Molecular orbital (M.O.), Mulliken population analysis (MPA), contour of Electrostatic Potential (ESP) and Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) map of the titled compounds were calculated base on DFT calculations that were carried out at the B3LYP levels of theory with a double basis set LANL2DZ for copper, and 6-311+G(d,p) basis set for the other atoms.

Abstract
Three novel water soluble neutral mononuclear oxidovanadium(iv) complexes 1-3, [VOLB2] (where H2L = dipicolinic acid (DPA) and B = imidazole (1)/1-methylimidazole (2)/1-allylimidazole (3)), were synthesized by the reaction of [VOL(H2O)2] with imidazole/1-methylimidazole/1-allylimidazole in ethanol. The complexes were thoroughly characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis and EPR spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, cyclic voltammetry and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. In all the complexes the vanadium(iv) centre assumes a distorted octahedral environment. All the three complexes have similar structures and contain a range of intramolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonding, C-Hπ, and ππ stacking dominating their supramolecular architectures. A thermal study of the complexes was carried out to analyze their stability. The energy of non-covalent interactions and frontier orbitals for the complexes were also calculated by DFT. In order to investigate the binding interactions and conformational changes of the secondary structure of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with the complexes, absorption, fluorimetric titration and circular dichroism measurements in aqueous medium were carried out. Molecular docking studies have also been carried out to understand the binding modes and interaction patterns of the oxidovanadium(iv) complexes with BSA. The anticancer activities of the ligand and complexes 1-3 were tested against the human hepatic carcinoma cell line Hep3B. The complexes showed prominent cytotoxicity towards cancer cells.

Abstract
Solvent (methanol) coordinated vanadium(V) chalcogenido complexes bearing chlorido and methoxido ligands have been studied computationally by means of density functional (DFT) methods. The gas phase complexes were fully optimized using B3LYP/GEN functionals with 6-31+G⁎⁎ and LANL2DZ basis sets. The optimized complexes show distorted octahedral geometries around the central vanadium atom. The ligand pπ-vanadium dπ interactions were analyzed by natural bond order (NBO) and natural population analyses (NPA). These results show strong stabilization of the V=O bond as was further confirmed by the analyses of the frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs). Second-order perturbation analyses also revealed substantial delocalization of lone pair electrons from the oxido ligand into vacant non-Lewis (Rydberg) orbitals as compared to the sulfido and seleno analogues. These results show significant ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) interactions. Full interaction map (FIM) of the reference complex confirms hydrogen bond interactions involving the methanol (O-H) and the chlorido ligand.

Abstract
In this work, we report synthesis, crystallographic, spectroscopic and quantum chemical studies of a new imine oxime, namely (4-nitro-phenyl)-(1-phenyl-ethylimino)-acetaldehyde oxime (nppeieoH). Spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction studies showed that nppeieoH is hydrolyzed in aqueous solution, forming nitroisonitrosoacetophenone (ninap) and the hydrolysis product binds to Pd(II) to yield [Pd(nppeieo)(ninap)]. The mechanism of the hydrolysis reaction has been theoretically investigated in detail, using density functional theory (DFT) with the B3LYP method. The vibrational and the electronic spectra of nppeieoH and its Pd(II) complex, the HOMO and LUMO analysis, Mulliken atomic charges and molecular electrostatic potential were also performed. The predicted nonlinear optical properties of both compounds are higher than those of urea.

Abstract
Three mononuclear coordination complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) have been synthesized from 2,4-dichloro-6-{(E)-[(5-chloro-2-sulfanylphenyl)imino]methyl}phenol ligand (H 2 L) obtained by simple condensation reaction of 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2-amino-4-chlorobenzenethiol and characterized by elemental analysis, spectral (FT-IR, electronic, and (1)H-NMR), molar conductance, thermal, SEM, PXRD, and fluorescence studies. The PXRD analysis and SEM-EDX micrographs show the crystalline nature of complexes. The domain size and the lattice strain of synthesized compounds have been determined according to Williamson-Hall plot. TG of the synthesized complexes illustrates the general decomposition pattern of the complexes. The ligand exhibits an interesting fluorescence property which is suppressed after complex formation. The Co(II) complex adopted a distorted octahedral configuration while Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes showed square planar geometry around metal center. The geometry optimization, HOMO-LUMO, molecular electrostatic potential map (MEP), and spin density of synthesized compounds have been performed by density functional theory (DFT) method using B3LYP/6-31G and B3LYP/LANL2DZ as basis set. Abstract
Two new Cu(II) complexes, [Cu(L)(phen)] (1), [Cu(L)(bipy)] (2), where L(2-)=(3-methoxy-2oxidobenzylidene)benzohydrazidato, phen=1,10 phenanthroline, and bipy=2,2' bipyridine, were prepared and fully characterized using elemental analyses, FT-IR, molar conductivity, and electronic spectra. The structures of both complexes were also determined by X-ray diffraction. It was found that, both complexes possessed square pyramidal coordination environment in which, Cu(II) ions were coordinated by donor atoms of HL and two nitrogens of heterocyclic bases. Computational studies were performed using DFT calculations at B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level of theory. DNA binding activities of these complexes were also investigated using electronic absorption, competitive fluorescence titration and cyclic voltammetry studies. The obtained results indicated that binding of the complexes to DNA was of intercalative mode. Furthermore, antimicrobial activities of these compounds were screened against microorganisms.
