Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the awareness and existing knowledge of a portion of the Greek population about prevention, screening, and HPV vaccination. METHODS A questionnaire designed in Google forms has been distributed through social media between June 2021 and December 2021 in men and women aged > 16 years old. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 20.0 program. Inferential analysis was performed to evaluate differences in responses among men and women. RESULTS We enrolled 2685 participants. Of those, 2285 were women, 386 were men, while 14 respondents chose not to respond to this question. Various age groups were detected with those aged between 26 and 30 years old being the predominant one. Participants with a higher education constituted 36.5% of the population. Most respondents were married (59.8%). In socioeconomic terms 75.5% of participants were employed whereas, monthly income ranged between 1000 and 1500 euros in the predominant group (36.8%). Only 40% of females and 3.9% of males were vaccinated against HPV. Adolescent immunization, acceptability rates reached 92.7% among female and 82.1% among male responders. Although, only a small proportion of the participants were not aware of the existence of HPV, 24.1% of males and 23.4% of females had the impression that condom use may provide absolute immunity to HPV and only 51.6% of males and 60.4% of females were aware about the high prevalence of HPV in the general population. Logistic regression analysis indicated that male participants as well as those aged > 50 years and those choosing to reject vaccination had decreased knowledge of the basic pathophysiology of HPV infection, as well as knowledge related to the existence and use of HPV DNA as a screening tool and the existence and efficacy of HPV vaccination. CONCLUSION Our results indicate that although awareness of the existence of HPV infection is high in Greek general population, the actual perception of the pathophysiology of transmission and importance of HPV testing and vaccination is low. Targeting specific population groups is essential to help increase HPV coverage and screening.

Abstract
Introduction Despite proven efficacy, HPV vaccination coverage is still suboptimal. Factors influencing vaccination uptake are education attainment, socio-economic position, and knowledge about HPV. This study aimed to assess HPV vaccination uptake and its correlates among medical students and identify logistic-organizational barriers, knowledge, and attitudes with regard towards HPV vaccination to improve current public health vaccination strategies. Medical students, with their acquired biological knowledge, were selected as a low-risk groups for HPV vaccination uptake. This cross-sectional study was conducted using a validated questionnaire. Methods Students in their the first 3 years of study students were preferentially invited. Eventually, the invitation was extended to every medical student. Logistic multivariable regression was used to assess determinants of HPV vaccination uptake. Additional analysis explored determinants of knowledge of and attitude toward HPV vaccination. Finally, a sensitive analysis was conducted to further assess the effect of knowledge and attitude on the HPV vaccination rate. Results A total of 882 medical students participated, with 74.5% enrolled in the first 3 years of their training. HPV vaccination uptake was 55.5%, ranging from 78.5% for females to 16.5% for males. Male sex and increasing age were consistently associated with a lower vaccination uptake (males sex: OR 0.03, CI 0.02-0.05; age: OR 0.77, CI 0.68-0.88), whereasilst progress in their academic career was associated with a to higher likelihood of being vaccinated (6th year: OR 3.45, CI 1.24-9.57). These associations were confirmed when considering the knowledge of and attitude towards HPV. Additionally also, an active outreach from healthcare institutions was associated with a higher likelihood of receiving HPV vaccination (OR 1.70, CI 1.09-2.65. Conclusion HPV vaccination in medical students was higher than in the general population; however, it was still suboptimal. An active and up-to-date call strategy and extending the free-of-charge offer are essential measures for to improvinge vaccination uptake. The findings support the need to improve public health strategies and increase awareness and knowledge ofregarding HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Purpose In Romania, after reaching the age of 18, teenage girls can make an informed decision about vaccination. The aim of the study was to evaluate both knowledge and attitudes related to HPV infection, HPV vaccination, cervical cancer, as well as intentions, reservations, reasons that could influence the decision related to vaccination. Patients and Methods We applied an anonymized questionnaire to 690 teenage girls in the 18-19 age group, recruited from 15 high schools in Bihor County. Based on the answers to the question corresponding to item 14 of subscale 3, 2 groups were identified: the group with a hesitant behavior called the non-vaccine group (GNV) and the group with a positive behavior called the pro-vaccine group (GPV). The statistical analysis was processed by using IBM-SPSS 22. Results The analysis revealed significant differences between the groups in terms of the level of knowledge and attitudes related to vaccination, the adolescent girls in the GPV being more aware of the role and importance of HPV vaccination and more open to the idea of vaccination. For the GNV, the behavior can be explained by the fact that even if they have heard about the HPV infection being transmitted through unprotected sex and they think that vaccination in general is necessary to prevent certain diseases, they do not know if HPV vaccination would be effective in protecting them in the future. Adolescents from GPV declare they would accept HPV vaccination if it would be offered to them or they are already vaccinated. Conclusion Alongside interventions targeting parents and health-care professionals, it is necessary to improve the level of knowledge of adolescents about HPV infection, HPV vaccination and cervical cancer, by organizing information campaigns in schools, campaigns in which professionals in the field should be involved, but also by implementing education programs addressed to them.

Abstract
Background An increased incidence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and its related cancers has been observed in recent years. Correct knowledge about HPV infection can lead to a significant decrease in transmission and a subsequent increase in vaccine uptake. Awareness and behavioural perception towards HPV infections are critical for improving HPV vaccination rates among Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples. However, to the best of our knowledge, there has been no instrument designed to measure knowledge about HPV infection that is culturally appropriate and validated among Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People. Aim To address this research gap, this paper aims to examine the psychometric properties of the HPV Knowledge Tool (HPV-KT) in an Indigenous population sample from South Australia. Methodology Data from 747 Indigenous Australian Adults who participated in the 12-month follow-up of the HPV and Oropharyngeal Carcinoma in Indigenous Australians Study was utilised for this study. The psychometric properties examined included1) dimensionality and item redundancy; (2) network loadings; (3) model fit; (4) criterion validity; and (5) reliability. The network model was estimated using the Graphical Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selector Operator (GLASSO). Evaluation of the HPV-KT (10 items) dimensionality and item redundancy was conducted within the framework of Exploratory Graph Analysis (EGA). Reliability was evaluated with the McDonald's Omega (ω) coefficient. Results After the exclusion of two items, the HPV-KT exhibited good psychometric properties for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples. The two dimensions of "General HPV Knowledge" and "Commonness of HPV" were identified. The dimension of "Commonness of HPV" displayed poor reliability, so a sum score for this subscale is not recommended (i.e. the items can still be used individually) The network model of the 7-item HPV-KT was fitted in the validation sample and model fit was adequate (x2 (7) = 17.17, p < 0.016; CFI = 0.980; TLI = 0.94; RMSEA = 0.063, 90% CI = 0.025-0.010). Furthermore, the reliability of the "General HPV Knowledge" subscale (ω = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.72-0.79), while the reliability of the "Commonness of HPV" subscale (ω = 0.58, 95% CI0.58-0.88) was poor. Conclusion The HPV-KT was adapted for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander population and is readily available for future use in Australia. The addition of items assessing specifications of HPV infection, natural history and behaviour will improve the reliability and usability to assess the level of accurate knowledge about HPV infection. Future studies should investigate the possibility of developing new items for the dimension 'Commonness of HPV'.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to validate and evaluate the psychometric properties of the knowledge about tuberculosis questionnaire (KATUB-Q) for the general population in Indonesia. METHODS The KATUB-Q consists of three domains: general knowledge, transmission, and treatment, with 20 dichotomous items. Rasch analysis through WINSTEPS was used. RESULTS A total of 504 respondents from 34 provinces in Indonesia completed the survey. Based on the model fit statistics, 3 misfit items were deleted and 17 items were used. Item and person reliability, as well as Cronbach's Alpha values were 0.99, 0.63, and 0.73, respectively, which means they achieved the minimum acceptable limit of 0.6. Based on the results, Indonesia's Person ability analysis indicated a high level of knowledge. KATUB-Q has no significant bias item based on sex found in the differential item functioning analysis. CONCLUSION KATUB-Q has 17 items with a valid and reliable instrument; hence, it can be used to measure the knowledge about TB in the general population. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS The unidimensional structure of the core items of the KATUB-Q provides empirical evidence for using the sum score of the items in practice to evaluate the effectiveness of TB education in the general population.

Abstract
Introduction: Human papilloma virus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections and is widely known as the main causative agent for cervical cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the perceptions, knowledge and attitudes of young Greek adults concerning prevention of HPV infection and HPV immunization. Material and Methods: This constitutes a cross-sectional online survey. A convenience sample of young Greek adults (n = 883) residing in Greece, aged 17 to more than 35 years was surveyed from December 2020 to March 2021. Two validated questionnaires were used to collect data. Results: Participants demonstrated moderate knowledge about HPV infection and vaccination, with a mean knowledge score of 53.26 (SD ± 20.65) and 38.92 (SD ± 17.58), respectively. Cronbach’s alpha value was 0.77 and 0.80. Female participants were better informed than males. Approximately 52.3% of respondents had been vaccinated and 65.5% were willing to get vaccinated in the future. Vaccination rate was significantly associated with gender (OR = 11.99; 99% CI = 6.59–21.84), knowledge about the HPV vaccine (OR = 1.04; 99% CI = 1.03–1.04) and age (OR = 0.07; 99% CI = 0.03–0.15). Reasons for vaccine refusal were insufficient information (36.8%) and fear of side effects (19%). Correlates of positive vaccination intention were knowledge about HPV (OR = 1.02; 99% CI = 1.01–1.02). Conclusions: The findings suggest that the Greek government’s continuing HPV promotion efforts and education on the risks of HPV infection among young people are likely to increase vaccination acceptance among this group.

Abstract
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine uptake among adolescents is influenced by their views and perceptions of the vaccination. The modified Carolina HPV Immunisation Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (CHIAS) is a well-established instrument to measure adolescents’ views of HPV vaccination. However, there is currently no Chinese version available to inform HPV vaccination promotion efforts among Chinese adolescents. This study aimed to translate and validate the Chinese version of the modified CHIAS (CHIAS-C). A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out with 212 female adolescents recruited from secondary schools. Internal consistency, convergent validity, and construct validity were examined. Cronbach’s alpha of the five domains ranged from 0.60 to 0.89, suggesting acceptable internal consistency. Both positive and negative correlations were found between CHIAS-C domains and HPV vaccination intention, indicating convergent validity. Factorial validity was established through confirmatory factor analysis. Our findings suggest that adolescents had generally positive perceptions of HPV vaccination and were likely to accept vaccination if given more relevant information. It was found that most adolescents had neither attended any school talks about HPV nor spoken about the vaccination with healthcare providers. This illustrates that adolescents experience a lack of communication and education about HPV vaccination, both of which can be enhanced in order to persuade adolescents to receive the vaccination. The results suggest that the CHIAS-C is a reliable and valid tool to measure adolescents’ views of HPV vaccination. The translated scale may therefore be used in future adolescent research and to inform the development of interventions to increase HPV vaccine uptake.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to determine the knowledge of human papillomavirus vaccination (PHV) and associated factors among primary school girls in Arba Minch town, South Ethiopia, in 2020. Hence, the levels of knowledge towards the HPV vaccination of girls were assessed and recommended to the concerned bodies. Clinically, this study could increase the acceptance of HPV vaccination after the intervention of the concerned bodies to improve adolescents’ knowledge levels. As a result, it could decrease the incidence of cervical cancer. Socially, this study may increase the research involvement of adolescents, communities, and stakeholder groups. Patients and Methods A school-based cross-sectional study involving 537 female students was conducted on January 24, 2020. The study participants were selected by a simple random sampling technique. A pre-tested questionnaire was used to collect the data. The logistic regression model was used to identify the statistically significant variables for knowledge of the human papillomavirus vaccination. Results The overall knowledge level of the participants in this study was 71.7%. Their main source of information is social media (41.74%), followed by medical staff (29.69%). Age ≥15 years old, AOR =3.74, 95% CI (2.20_6.37), P-value <0.001, grade level of 7 and 8, AOR =3.98, 95% CI (2.40_6.58), P-value <0.001, mother’s educational status of secondary and more than secondary, and father’s educational status of more than secondary, AOR=13.60, 95% CI (5.69_32.53) P-value <0.001, 22.27, 95% CI (8.23_60.30), P-value<0.001, 2.18, 95% CI (1.09_4.35), P-value 0.03, respectively, and access to HPV vaccination information (AOR = 8.65, 95% CI (3.92_19.07), P-value 0.001) were associated with overall knowledge. Conclusion Nearly three-fourths of the study participants were knowledgeable about human papillomavirus vaccination. Knowledge about the human papillomavirus vaccination shows a positive association with age, education level, parents’ educational status, and access to information sources.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The revised Diabetes Knowledge Test (DKT2) is the instrument that is the most widely used for measuring diabetes knowledge; nevertheless, its structural validity has never been evaluated. This study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the DKT2. METHODS This study performed a secondary data analysis of people with diabetes recruited at university hospitals. Rasch analysis was used. RESULTS One item in the 14-item DKT2 measuring general diabetes knowledge exhibited a poor-fit, and so it was eliminated. The person-item map showed that items of greater difficulty need to be added to the instrument. The principal-components analysis of residuals revealed a unidimensional structure. The person reliability was 0.50, with a person separation index of 1.01. Measurement invariance was not satisfied for items 11 and 2 according to gender and age. CONCLUSIONS The unidimensional structure of the 13-item DKT2 demonstrated poor person reliability and a low person separation index. Females and elderly persons found it more difficult to respond to items 11 and 2, respectively. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Careful consideration is necessary when using the 13-item DKT2 in practice and research. It is recommended for future studies to add items of greater difficulty to the instrument.

Abstract
In India, cervical cancer associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women. However, uptake of the vaccine in India is low. We assessed knowledge and attitudes towards HPV, assess participants' willingness to accept the vaccination for themselves and their children, and determine factors associated with intention to receive the HPV vaccine among women in Mangalore, India. This cross-sectional study surveyed a convenient sample of 237 women aged 18-45 years using a semi-structured questionnaire. All respondents reported being aware of HPV infection. However, 22.36% (n = 53) of the respondents have never heard about genital warts and 18.57% (n = 44) have never heard about HPV vaccine. Participants displayed good general knowledge of HPV infection (median score, 1.26; Interquartile Range (IQR): 1.04-1.52) and average knowledge of HPV vaccine (e.g., median score, 1.18; IQR: 0.73-1.45). HPV general knowledge and vaccine knowledge were associated with intention to receive the HPV vaccine and recommend it to children. Participant awareness of the HPV vaccine predicted vaccine intent for themselves. Participants' willingness to recommend the vaccine for their children was associated with older age, married status, having one or more children, and having a college education. Lack of awareness about genital warts was strongly associated with participants' refusal to get the HPV vaccine or recommend it for their own children (Relative Risk Ratio RRR: 12.21; 95% C.I.: 2.33-63.99). Our study validated the questionnaire as a reliable tool for assessing HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge, attitudes, awareness, and vaccine intentions in women aged 18-45 years. Public health education should focus on increasing awareness of genital warts as a sequela of HPV, as well as promote awareness of role and safety of HPV vaccination in -children.

Abstract
Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide and its highest prevalence is observed in adolescents and young adults. This review examined studies that explore awareness about HPV among adolescents and young adults, as well as their attitudes and willingness towards the HPV vaccine. Besides, the impact of health professionals and health education interventions on HPV awareness and attitudes towards HPV vaccine is identified. Objective The aim of this review is, firstly, to systematically identify the studies that explore awareness about HPV among adolescents and young adults, as well as their attitudes and willingness towards the HPV vaccine. Secondly, the aim is to identify the impact of health professionals and health education interventions on HPV awareness and attitudes towards HPV vaccine among the same group. Methods The systematic review was conducted in the international databases PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, between 2016-2019. Results The review revealed low to moderate levels of awareness and knowledge regarding HPV (10 studies), while a more favorable attitude towards the HPV vaccine (3 studies). The role of health professionals was ineffective (4 studies), while studies focused on the impact of health education interventions showed a positive impact on knowledge and awareness of HPV (4 studies). Conclusion Continuous training of health personnel is necessary and new studies are needed to identify barriers to adolescents not being vaccinated.

Abstract
PURPOSE To analyze the level of knowledge about and the acceptability of the HPV vaccine among vaccinated and unvaccinated adolescents in the Western Amazon. METHODS A cross-sectional study on adolescents aged 10 to 19 years. The instrument used to collect data contains demographic and socioeconomic information and 27 questions that assess the knowledge and acceptability of the HPV vaccine. To compare the prevalence of vaccinated adolescents with the correct answers to questions about HPV and acceptability and vaccination, the robust variance Poisson regression model was used in the Stata 13.0 software. FINDINGS A total of 190 adolescents participated in the study, 60.5% in the age group of vaccination recommended by the Brazilian government, among them, 53.9% reported not having been vaccinated (p <0.001). A total of 150 (78.9%) adolescents correctly recognized HPV as a virus; 121 (63.7%) recognized HPV as a cause of cervical cancer. Participants who know HPV is a causative factor for cervical cancer are 1.94 times more likely to have been vaccinated than those who do not. Among the interviewees, the main sources of knowledge about the vaccine were schools (51.6%) and health professionals (22.6%). CONCLUSION Unvaccinated adolescents have knowledge gaps about HPV and its vaccine when compared to those vaccinated. Our results emphasize the need for effective campaigns to deliver adequate information about HPV and its vaccine to adolescents, their parents, and health professionals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Social determinants of health explain most health inequities. Intermediate determinants dictate differences in the exposure and vulnerability of people based on social stratification. Vulnerable women (lower education level, older age, uninsured, etc.) have lower adherence to recommended Pap smear screening guidelines. However, a gap remains concerning the effect of social determinants on human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to analyze the association between the level of knowledge about HPV infection and HPV vaccines with education level and residential setting among a sample of Spanish women. METHODS A cross-sectional study at six primary care centers (Cantabria, Spain) was performed. All women >21 years consecutively attended by midwives for routine follow-up were invited to participate during the study period (2015-2016) until a convenience sample was recruited. Participants completed an anonymous questionnaire addressing sociodemographic variables (age, education level, and residential setting) and the level of knowledge regarding HPV infection, including general knowledge about infection and knowledge about the HPV vaccine. Associations between education level (primary, secondary, and university) and residential setting (urban, semiurban, and rural) with the level of knowledge of HPV infection and HPV vaccine were calculated using adjusted logistic regressions. Dose-response associations were estimated based on p-trend. RESULTS Compared to university women, a lower education level was associated with limited or no knowledge of either HPV infection or the HPV vaccine. Women living in rural areas poorly identified "promiscuity" as a risk factor of HPV infection and "the use of condoms" as a protective factor. Moreover, living in rural areas was associated with limited or no knowledge of HPV infection and HPV vaccine. There were significant dose-response trends; those who were more educated and living in more urban areas had more knowledge about either HPV infection or the vaccine. DISCUSSION In our sample, the level of knowledge of HPV infection and HPV vaccine was high. However, vulnerable women, defined by a lower education level and living in rural areas, presented a greater lack of knowledge regarding HPV infection and the HPV vaccine.

Abstract
The vaccination coverage rate has fallen in recent years in Brazil. Although Brazil is a country influenced by social networking and analysis of social media generated content has emerged as an important area of research, this is the first study to investigate how the HPV vaccine is portrayed on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Health and to interpret the user-generated content. Our work evaluated the posts published by the Ministry of Health as well as posted comments, shares and reactions of the population related to the HPV vaccination campaign on the specific Facebook page between January and July 2018.The data were analyzed in three stages: (i) overview of published posts; (ii) analysis of posted comments; and (iii) sub-group analysis of posted comments. This study makes important contributions from the point of view of using social media as a public health communication tool.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Since the introduction of HPV vaccines, several studies have been conducted in different countries to assess HPV knowledge and vaccine acceptance. The aim of this study was to perform a systematic literature review to summarize results and identify factors associated with HPV knowledge and vaccine acceptance in adolescents and their parents and to compile the measurement tools used in the published research studies performed in European countries where HPV is licensed. METHODS A systematic literature review was conducted for studies published between January 1st 2006 and December 31st 2017. RESULTS Seventy non-interventional studies performed in 16 European countries met the inclusion criteria. Thirty-eight of them reported data on HPV knowledge and 40 reported data on HPV vaccine acceptance. Further, 51.8% of adolescents (range 0% to 98.6%) and 64.4% of parents (range 1.7% to 99.3%) knew about HPV infection. Insufficient information and safety concerns were the main barriers to vaccination acceptance. CONCLUSION HPV knowledge and vaccine acceptance are still modest and vary widely between studies across EU countries. Coordinated efforts should be made to provide the relevant population with information for informed decision-making about HPV vaccination.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the level of knowledge among high school and university students about the human papillomavirus (HPV) and its vaccine. METHODS Our study included 3039 Grade 9-12 students from 12 high schools and university students enrolled in medical and non-medical departments. The students completed a 30-item questionnaire, which included three demographic items (sex, age and grade) and measured knowledge regarding HPV, HPV vaccine, smear test and cervical cancer. Students responded by selecting one of the choices "true/false/I don't know." RESULTS One thousand seven hundred and forty eight high school students (57.5%) and 1291 university students (42.5%) completed the questionnaire. One thousand three hundred and fourty one students were male (44.1%) and 1698 were female (55.9%). Mean age was 18.8 (min: 14 max: 33). The university group had significantly more correct responses (P = 0.001). The high school group had significantly more unknown responses (P = 0.001). In both groups, female and male students had comparable correct responses (High school; female: 25.28%, male: 24.45%, P = 0.42; University; female: 62.46%, male: 63.09%, P = 0.35). While medical students had more correct responses than both nursing students and students from non-medical university departments, nursing students had more correct responses than students from the non-medical university departments (P = 0.001). CONCLUSION Knowledge about HPV is limited in adolescence, which marks the beginning of sexual activity. Educational programs targeted at adolescents are needed to negate the increasing rate of HPV-related gynecological cancers in our population. The HPV vaccine should urgently be introduced to the routine immunization schedule.

Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to introduce the VaccinaTion & Hpv Knowledge (THinK) questionnaire to assess knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV) and attitude to HPV-vaccination. Its reliability and validity was demonstrated in a sample of women living in Sicily (southern Italy). Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a sample of 220 women at the “Paolo Giaccone” University Hospital in Palermo (Sicily), aged 18–61. Data were analyzed through Cronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis, followed by a structural equation model with measurement component. The two-level data structure was explicitly considered. Results Three dimensions were found: “knowledge of HPV infection (kHPV), “Attitude to be vaccinated against HPV (aHPV)” and “Knowledge about vaccines (KV)” (97% overall explained variance). Internal consistency was good for the whole questionnaire (0.82) and the first dimension (0.88) and acceptable for the second (0.78) and the third dimension (0.73). 23% of women showed no or little knowledge of HPV and 44.3% of women had no or little knowledge about HPV induced lesions. Discussion The use of a validated questionnaire may serve as a useful measure to assess general knowledge about HPV and attitude towards vaccination against HPV in the primary prevention setting.
