Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted public health, putting people with Alzheimer's disease at significant risk. This study used bibliometric analysis method to conduct in-depth research on the relationship between COVID-19 and Alzheimer's disease, as well as to predict its development trends. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection was searched for relevant literature on Alzheimer's and Coronavirus-19 during 2019-2023. We used a search query string in our advanced search. Using Microsoft Excel 2021 and VOSviewer software, a statistical analysis of primary high-yield authors, research institutions, countries, and journals was performed. Knowledge networks, collaboration maps, hotspots, and regional trends were analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results During 2020-2023, 866 academic studies were published in international journals. United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom rank top three in the survey; in terms of productivity, the top three schools were Harvard Medical School, the University of Padua, and the University of Oxford; Bonanni, Laura, from Gabriele d'Annunzio University (Italy), Tedeschi, Gioacchino from the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli (Italy), Vanacore, Nicola from Natl Ctr Dis Prevent and Health Promot (Italy), Reddy, P. Hemachandra from Texas Tech University (USA), and El Haj, Mohamad from University of Nantes (France) were the authors who published the most articles; The Journal of Alzheimer's Disease is the journals with the most published articles; "COVID-19," "Alzheimer's disease," "neurodegenerative diseases," "cognitive impairment," "neuroinflammation," "quality of life," and "neurological complications" have been the focus of attention in the last 3 years. Conclusion The disease caused by the COVID-19 virus infection related to Alzheimer's disease has attracted significant attention worldwide. The major hot topics in 2020 were: "Alzheimer' disease," COVID-19," risk factors," care," and "Parkinson's disease." During the 2 years 2021 and 2022, researchers were also interested in "neurodegenerative diseases," "cognitive impairment," and "quality of life," which require further investigation.

Abstract
Owing to the increased use of nanomaterials, the number of employees and professionals who are exposed to these chemicals is on the rise, despite the paucity of organized data on the possible dangers associated with exposure to these compounds. Multiple studies reveal that the lack of nanosafety awareness among employees and businesses is a serious problem that must be addressed. This shortage of information may result from insufficient knowledge generation or transmission. Academic publications play a significant role in producing new knowledge. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of published research on workplace nanosafety which this bibliometric analysis aims to establish the permeability and significance of nanosafety themes from an occupational safety and health viewpoint in academia, to gain a better understanding of the knowledge generation phase in the area, and detected advantages and disadvantages of the topic. Scopus was used as the data source in this study. A total of 1170 publications were gathered and analyzed. The results indicated that the United States is a leader in several aspects of nanosafety at the workplace. The synthesis of co-citation and author-keyword phrases provided insight into determining the focal points of the current study. Analysis of meta data indicates that the number of writers is rising. Nanomaterial toxicity, risk assessment, and occupational exposure are the three hottest topics in this field, according to the result. In addition, the findings included worldwide growth rate, collaborative research fields, keywords, journals, and funding agencies. The advantages and disadvantages of the knowledge creation phase of nanosafety at the workplace were examined in the conclusion.

Abstract
PURPOSE Bibliometric analyses provide information on the effectiveness, performance, trends, and various other characteristics of research by using mathematical and statistical analysis methods for data related to scientific publications. This study aims to determine the focus of studies in the field of orthognathic surgery, map it, and present the results in a simplified manner through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the relevant literature. METHODS In this bibliometric analysis study, orthognathic surgery publications from 1980 to 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The independent variables were co-citations, while the outcome variables included cross-country collaboration analysis, keyword analysis, co-citation analysis, and cluster analysis of the co-citation network. Covariates were the number of publications, number of citations, year range, centrality value, and silhouette value. The bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R-Studio software. RESULTS A total of 7,135 publications and 75,822 references were included in the analysis, and the annual growth rate of publications was 9.52%. The co-citation clustering analysis revealed that the orthognathic surgery literature was organized into 16 subject headings. Patient satisfaction was found to be the most widely published topic. The youngest clusters, representing new topics in the field, were virtual planning and examination of condylar changes after orthognathic surgery. CONCLUSION Bibliometric analysis methods were used to evaluate the 40-year history of the orthognathic surgery literature. The analysis identified the most influential publications, the topics in which the literature is divided, and hot spots in the field. By conducting similar bibliometric research studies in the future, the progress and future direction of the literature can be monitored based on evidence.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore the current research status, hot topics, and future prospects in the field of graphene and its derivatives toxicity. In the article, the Web of Science Core Collection database was used as the data source, and the CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to conduct a visual analysis of the last 10 years of research on graphene and its derivatives toxicity. A total of 8573 articles were included, and we analyzed the literature characteristics of the research results in the field of graphene and its derivatives toxicity, as well as the distribution of authors and co-cited authors; the distribution of countries and institutions; the situation of co-cited references; and the distribution of journals and categories. The most prolific countries, institutions, journals, and authors are China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, RSC Advances, and Wang, Dayong, respectively. The co-cited author with the most citations was Akhavan, Omid. The five research hotspot keywords in the field of graphene and its derivatives toxicity were "nanomaterials," "exposure," "biocompatibility," "adsorption," and "detection." Frontier topics were "facile synthesis," "antibacterial activity," and "carbon dots." Our study provides perspectives for the study of graphene and its derivatives toxicity and yields valuable information and suggestions for the development of graphene and its derivatives toxicity research in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) are more likely to have cardiovascular disease (CVD). Glucose-lowering drugs with cardiovascular benefits represented by Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP1RAs) were discovered and gained more and more attention. METHODS Data from 1985 to the 2021 were downloaded in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. CiteSpaceV was used for bibliometric analysis to find research hotspots and frontiers. RESULTS The 2088 papers were published by 74 countries (regions), 876 institutions, and 2203 authors. The annual publications increased over time from 2005 to 2020. DIABETES OBESITY METABOLISM published the most papers. The USA and China were the top 2 productive nations. The leading institution was the University of Copenhagen, and the most productive researcher was John B Buse. The most cited paper is "Liraglutide and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Type 2 Diabetes" (by Marso SP, 2016). The research hotspots include the effects of GLP1RA on cardiovascular outcomes, efficacy, complicated metabolic abnormalities, protective mechanisms, and other novel anti-diabetic drugs for cardiovascular protection. Research frontiers include cardiovascular studies on semaglutide, as well as the most prominent research approach in the field-placebo-controlled trial. CONCLUSION Numerous countries, institutions, and authors have focused on GLP1RA in cardiovascular research and a great deal of literature has been published. Five research hotspots and two frontiers illustrate the current status and emerging trends of GLP1RA in cardiovascular research. The cardiovascular effects and clinical efficacy of GLP1RA are a current hot topic that is rapidly evolving and of high research value.

Abstract
In recent years, AMPK channel has gained considerable attention in a variety of research areas, and several academic journals have published articles on AMPK research. However, few attempts have been made to thoroughly assess the scientific output and current status systematically in this topic from a worldwide viewpoint. As a result, it is critical to adopt an appropriate visualization method to reveal the global status, future research trends, and hotspots in AMPK channel research. To investigate research hotspots/frontiers in certain domains, bibliometric analysis has been frequently utilized to determine the productivity of nations, institutions, authors, and the frequency of keywords. In this work, we used CiteSpace and VOSviewer to conduct a bibliometric analysis of AMPK channel studies from 2012 to 2021 in order to perform researchers with some directions for AMPK channel research.

Abstract
A social science perspective to carbon accounting is essential for determining the appropriate allocation of reduction responsibility, and thus contributing to addressing the climate crisis. It is crucial to have a comprehensive review of the literature in this field to better understand how relevant research has evolved, and to identify gaps that future studies need to work on. Based on the bibliographic database from the Web of Science (WOS), we identified 897 publications relevant to carbon accounting in the social sciences published between 1997 and 2020. Bibliometric analysis is applied to analyze the trends and features of carbon accounting research in the social sciences. The results show that international trade has spurred considerable scholarly interest in responsibility allocation from a consumption perspective. IO (input-output) analysis that can be used to derive embodied emissions in trade has therefore become the most popular method in this domain. It is also revealed that few publications have addressed quantification of emissions at organizational level. In consideration of the importance of organizations especially corporations in emission reduction, a shift of priority to this particular area is needed for further research. Carbon label and supply chain have emerged as a subject in keywords analysis, but have not been addressed enough either. To achieve carbon neutrality, solely relying on actions at country and organizational level may not be sufficient. Greener consumption behaviors of the public and individuals could play a remarkable role. Thus, it is important to formulate a consistent framework for labeling carbon embodied in products and investigate the drivers of consumers' low-carbon choices.

Abstract
Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disease that can lead to intermittent hypoxia, increased sympathetic overdrive, and excessive oxidative stress, and eventually lead to cardiovascular/cerebrovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. The prevalence of OSA is reported to be higher in people with certain cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Therefore, the relationship between OSA and CVD has been gradually favored by researchers. Material/Methods Data were downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Citespace was used to remove duplicated data and construct knowledge visual maps. Results A total of 7047 publications were obtained. The USA was the largest contributor as well as an important player in the cooperation network between nations. The leading institution was the Mayo Clinic. Our study ultimately identified the top 5 hotspots and 4 research frontiers in this field. Top 5 hotspots were: the specific types of obstructive sleep apnea-related cardiovascular and metabolic co-morbidities, the curative effects of CPAP on these co-morbidities, the specific mechanisms of co-morbidities, the importance of polysomnography on OSA and its co-morbidities with CVD, and the prevalence of OSA and its co-morbidities with CVD in particular populations. The top 4 frontiers were: the relationship between OSA and resistant hypertension, the molecular mechanisms of OSA and its co-morbidities with CVD, specific medications and treatment guidelines for the co-morbidities, and the mainstream research methods in this field. Conclusions This study provides insight and valuable information for researchers and helps to identify new perspectives concerning potential collaborators and cooperative institutions, hot topics, and research frontiers in this field.

Abstract
To explore the research status, hotspots, and trends in research on nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) channel. The Web of Science core collection database from 2000 to 2020 was used as the data source. The visual analysis software VOSviewer1.6.16 and Citespace5.7 R3 were used to visualize the studies of the nAChR channel. The national/institutional distribution, journal distribution, authors, and related research were discussed. A total of 5,794 articles were obtained. The USA and the Utah System of Higher Education were the most productive country and institution for nAChR channel research. The first highly co-cited article was "Refined structure of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor at 4A resolution." The most researched area was neurosciences neurology. The hot spots of nAChR channel research were "subunit and structure of nAChR," "activation/agonist of nAChR channel," and "Changes in nAChRs With Alzheimer's Disease." The top three research frontiers of nAChR channel research were "neuropathic pain," "neuroinflammation," and "α7 nACHR." The study provides a perspective to visualize and analyze hotspots and emerging trends in the nAChR channel.

Optimized Energy Management Schemes for Electric Vehicle Applications: A Bibliometric Analysis towards Future Trends. SUSTAINABILITY 2021. Abstract
Concerns over growing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and fuel prices have prompted researchers to look into alternative energy sources, notably in the transportation sector, accounting for more than 70% of carbon emissions. An increasing amount of research on electric vehicles (EVs) and their energy management schemes (EMSs) has been undertaken extensively in recent years to address these concerns. This article aims to offer a bibliometric analysis and investigation of optimized EMSs for EV applications. Hundreds (100) of the most relevant and highly influential manuscripts on EMSs for EV applications are explored and examined utilizing the Scopus database under predetermined parameters to identify the most impacting articles in this specific field of research. This bibliometric analysis provides a survey on EMSs related to EV applications focusing on the different battery storages, models, algorithms, frameworks, optimizations, converters, controllers, and power transmission systems. According to the findings, more articles were published in 2020, with a total of 22, as compared to other years. The authors with the highest number of manuscripts come from four nations, including China, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, and five research institutions, with these nations and institutions accounting for the publication of 72 papers. According to the comprehensive review, the current technologies are more or less capable of performing effectively; nevertheless, dependability and intelligent systems are still lacking. Therefore, this study highlights the existing difficulties and challenges related to EMSs for EV applications and some brief ideas, discussions, and potential suggestions for future research. This bibliometric research could be helpful to EV engineers and to automobile industries in terms of the development of cost-effective, longer-lasting, hydrogen-compatible electrical interfaces and well-performing EMSs for sustainable EV operations.

Abstract
A holistic view of scientific literacy-related literature was generated based on bibliometric analysis. The purpose was to provide insight into and knowledge on evolving knowledge fronts and to highlight the turning points in the existing literature between 1980 and 2019. Scientific literacy in society can potentially help to answer unsolved riddles of socio-scientific issues (SSI) to enable people to become smart and responsible global citizens. Specifically, two decades before and after the year 2000 was taken into account as it comprised the most noticeable revolutionary developments in terms of economics, technology, culture, and society. Interestingly, the attention paid to scientific literacy significantly increased after the financial crisis of 2008. International Journal of Science Education and the Journal of Research in Science Teaching were observed to be the top-cited and top publishing journals, respectively. Similarly, Jonathan Osborne, Rosalind Driver, and Norman G. Lederman were recorded as the most cited and most published authors, respectively, during the study period. Alarmingly, most of the literature evolved in and was dominated by the Western region, indicating the need to understand the regional-cultural complexities of the East and the rest of the world. The recent evolving clusters, with titles of literacy (as a concept), learning progression, and informal reasoning, were observed to be currently active knowledge areas in the evolution of the intellectual structure of scientific literacy-related literature. However, no recent trend or emerging research direction was noticed in the last decade, even though new and digital media (including immersive media) have revolutionized the communication channels and public understanding of science and socio-scientific issues.

Abstract
Objective: To determine the research hotspots and trends in the field of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and to provide a reference for further and wider research in the future. Methods: The literatures on ECMO from January 2011 to July 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database were searched, and Citespace5.8.R1 software was used to conduct bibliographic and visual analysis on the literature by country, institution, author and keywords. Results: A total of 5,986 articles were enrolled. According to an observation, the number of articles published in the past decade has increased, especially from 2019 to 2020. The USA had the largest number of publications, while less ECMO related studies were conducted among non-developed countries. The University of Michigan (Univ Michigan) was the institution that had the largest number of publications and the highest centrality, and Daniel B was the author who had the largest number of publications. However, more inter-institutional cooperation among author teams was needed. The focus of existing ECMO research has primarily been on the treatment of patients suffering from severe cardiopulmonary failure, and the prevention and management of complications during the application ECMO. Conclusion: Inter-regional and inter-institutional cooperation and exchanges should be carried out among ECMO research teams and institutions. The suggested research direction is to further broaden the application scope of ECMO, while determining the ways to reduce the incidence of complications and the cost, cultivate specialized team talents, and promote the application thereof.

Abstract
Industrial parks have been used to promote the economic development of countries. However, its rapid growth has generated environmental problems related to the depletion of natural resources and pollution. Consequently, the network analysis and the bibliometric analysis applied in this research generated qualitative and quantitative information from a systemic perspective on the thematic and community evolution of research on industrial parks (IP) performed to improve its negative environmental impact and reach sustainability. This study used the Web of Science (WoS) database from 1996 – 2019. The main trends and critical research points were identified in four periods of 6-year each. Social network analysis (SNA) was used to identify the intellectual structure main and the academic collaboration networks established among countries/territories, institutions, and authors. The most productive country in articles is currently China (882), however, when we consider the frequency of articles per million inhabitants, it ranks seventh. The WoS database grouped 63.6 % of the articles published in the subjects of “Environmental Sciences & Ecology”, “Engineering”, and “Science & Technology - Other Topics”. Industrial Ecology (IE), Industrial Symbiosis (IS), and Circular Economy (CE) were the author keywords with the highest frequency, indicating that IP research has focused from these perspectives to promote the exchange of byproducts and to evaluate the performance and environmental impact of industrial areas through the use of methodologies such as carbon footprints, emergy analysis, and life cycle analysis (LCA). Finally, some themes were identified and proposed for future research based on analyzing research trends and hot spots from the literature review on industrial parks.

Abstract
Phytoplankton occupies a key trophic level in aquatic ecosystems. Chemical impacts on these primary producers can disrupt the integrity of an entire ecosystem. Two freshwater (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata-Ps and Scenedesmus obliquus-S) and three marine (Phaeodactylum tricornutum-P, Isochrysis galbana-I, Tetraselmis suecica-T) microalgae species were exposed to dilutions of four chemicals: nanoparticles (n-TiO2, n-ZnO), amoxicillin (antibiotic), and white musk (personal care fragrance) to determine the half maximal effective concentration (EC50) after 72 h of exposure under standardized and controlled environmental conditions. Cell cultures were exposed to EC50 to determine sublethal effects (72 h) based on biochemical (chlorophylls a, b, c), molecular (changes in outer cell wall structure), and morphological alterations. We report for the first time EC50 values for nanoparticles in not standardized species (S, I and T) and for amoxicillin and white musk in all tested species. Standardized species (Ps and P) were less sensitive than non-standardized in some cases. Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy showed a marked spectral alteration (from 10.44% to 90.93%) of treated cultures compared to negative controls; however, principal component analysis disclosed no differences in molecular alteration between the five microalgae species or the two aquatic habitats considered. There was a significant decrease in chlorophylls content in all species exposed to EC50 compared to controls (Kruskal Wallis test; p < 0.05). There was a significant increase in cell-size (Mann-Whitney U test; p < 0.05) in I, P and T exposed to white musk and S exposed to amoxicillin. Findings highlight ecotoxicological risks from new generation pollutants for primary producers in aquatic ecosystems.

Abstract
Recently, the development and controls of solid-state switching have gained significant popularity over the years especially in academic research. The development of control strategies in solid state switching applications to ensure fast switching in a protected distribution system has fueled a great deal of investigation and further developments. Therefore, a critical review and analysis in the field of solid-state switching for distribution systems are provided in this article. The Scopus database is used to compile a list of the most cited published papers in the field of solid-state switching control methods based on the identified criteria. The study explores 120 of the most cited articles emphasizing six keywords such as a solid-state breaker, solid-state transfer switch, static transfer switch, automatic transfer switch, automatic protection switches, and solid-state protection switch. The analysis was conducted using the Scopus database in the fourth week of January 2021. The 120 articles were collected from 24 different journals and 27 different countries. It is reported that 78% of the published papers outline the methodology based on control and test systems whereas 22% of articles are based on review surveys. From that, 73% of articles concentrate on the protection strategy in the system. The main objective of the article is to classify and define the highly cited published articles in the field of solid-state switching control methods as well as to provide direction for future research on fast switching in the distribution system. The analysis also highlights various factors, issues, challenges, and difficulties to identify the existing limitations and research gaps. This review will serve to strengthen the development concepts of solid-state switching control methods towards achieving improved operational performance, energy-saving, economic prosperity, and enhanced power quality. The authors believe that this bibliometric evaluation will allow academic researchers to identify opportunities for growth in the solid-state switching industry.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Objective: To explore the research status, hotspots, and trends in research on potassium channel. Methods: The Web of Science core collection database was used as the data source and the visual analysis software Citespace5.4 R3 was used to visualize the studies of potassium channel in the past 10 years. The national/institutional distribution, journal distribution, authors, and related research were discussed. Results 17,392 articles were obtained. The USA, Peoples R China, Germany, England, and Japan were the main countries in the field and University of California was the most important institution for the study of potassium channel. PLoS One was the most productive journal and proceedings of the national academy of sciences of the united states of america was the most frequently cited journal in potassium channel research. The author with the highest number was Colin G Nichols and the author with the highest co- cited frequency was Sanguinetti MC. The three hot spots of potassium channel research were gene expression, Ca2+ activated k+ channel and nitric oxide. The top four research frontiers of potassium channel research were bk channel,blood pressure,oxidative stress and electrophysiology. Conclusion The study provides a perspective for understanding the potassium channel research and provides valuable information for potassium channel researchers to identify potential collaborators, partner institutions, hot topics and research frontiers.

Abstract
Background: Exercise is medicine. Multiple studies on the effects and mechanisms of exercise in treating depression among teenagers and adolescents have been widely reported. However, literature involving scientometric analysis of this topic is sparse. Here, we endeavored to conduct a bibliometric study and visualization analysis to give a bird's-eye view of publications between 2000 and 2020 on exercise therapy treating depression. Methods: Relevant original publications were obtained from the Science Citation Index Expanded in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database between 2000 and 2020. CiteSpace (5.7.R 5) and VOSviewer (1.6.16) software were used to perform bibliometric analysis of countries, institutions, categories, journals, authors, references, and keywords involved in this topic. Results: A total number of 975 articles on this field were retrieved from the WoSCC database and we identified an overall increase in the amount of publications over the past two decades, with the United States and Harvard University leading the field. Most related publications were published in the journals with a focus on sport, medicine, rehabilitation, psychology, and health, as represented by the dual-map overlay. A series of authors and co-cited authors were identified as main contributors in the exercise-depression-teenager domain. Three major clusters were explored based on the reference co-citation analysis: "exercise," "suicide," and "concussion". Conclusions: Current concerns and hotspots of exercise intervention in depression treatments were summarized by "individual level," "social level," "role of exercise," and "research quality." We considered that the following four directions were potential future perspectives: "research on the effect of specific exercise intervention," "research on the essence of exercise and sports," "research on the combination mode of 'exercise + X'," and "research on the micro and molecular level," which should receive more attention.

Abstract
Along with the rapid development of nanotechnology, the biosafety of quantum dots (QDs), a widely used kind of nanoparticles, has grabbed the attentions of researchers, because QDs have excellent and unique optical properties that other commonly used nanoparticles, like walled carbon nanotubes, do not have. The understanding of the toxicity of QDs is an important premise for their application in wider fields, including biology and medicine. This study sought to analyze scientific publications on the toxicity of QDs and to construct a bibliometric model for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of these publications over the past decade, which visually presented the status quo and future development trend on the toxicological study of QDs. A search for data using the triple blind method revealed that, as of 31 December 2018, there were 5269 papers published on the toxicity of QDs. RSC ADVANCES (5-year IF, 3.096) ranked first in the number of publications. China had the largest number of publications (2233) and the highest H-index (119), but the United States was still the leading country with regards to the quality of the research. LIU Y (106 publications) published the most papers, while Hardman R (304 co-citations) had the most co-citations. The keyword "walled carbon nanotube" ranked first in the research frontier. The findings not only determine a development trend of the toxicological study of QDs, but also identify further research directions in this field.

Abstract
Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T) has served a leadership role in reporting advanced and significant research findings for decades and accumulated tremendous amount of high-quality literature. In this study, we developed tailored text mining methods and analyzed 29 188 papers published in ES&T from 2000 to 2019, and we performed data-driven analyses to reveal some critical information and guidance on what has been published, what topical changes have evolved, and what are the areas that deserve additional attention. While top research keywords remained stable (water, sorption, soil, emiss, oxid, exposur), the trending up and emerging keywords showed clear shift over the years. Keywords related to nanobased materials (nanoparticl, nanomateri, carbon nanotub), climate and energy (climat, ch4, greenhouse gas emiss, mitig, energi), and health (exposur, health, ingest) demonstrated the strongest uptrend in the past 10 years, while plastics and PFAS were among clear emerging topics in the past 5 years. Co-occurrence analysis showed distinct associations between media (water, soil, air, sediment), chemicals (pcb, humic subst, particulate matt), processes (sorption, remov, degrad), and properties (kinet, mechan, speciat). Furthermore, a rule-based classification deciphered trends, distributions, and interconnections of articles based on either monodomains (air, soil, solid waste, water, and wastewater) or multidomains. It found water and wastewater cross-discipline articles tended to have higher citation values, while air domain tended to stand alone. Water and air monodomains consistently increased their shares in publications (together 56.3% in 2019), while shares of soil studies gradually declined. This study provides new data-driven methods on literature mining and offers unique insights on environmental research landscape and opportunities.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this bibliometric analysis was to identify trends and hot topics in research on lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) over the past decade, for helping researchers explore new directions for future research in that area. METHODS All research articles on LSS, written in English and indexed in the Web of Science database (WoS) between 2010 and 2020, were used. The visualization of network and in-depth bibliometric analysis including the number of publications, countries, institutions, journals, authors, cited references, and key words was carried out with the help of CiteSpace. RESULTS A total of 4033 papers (3577 original articles and 476 reviews) were identified and included in the study. The most productive year was in 2019. The Spine was the journal that published the highest number of articles and received the most citations. The most productive country and institutions in this field were the United States and Seoul National University, respectively. Kim HJ was the most prolific author, and Deyo RA ranked the first in the cited authors. The most cited article was published in 2010 by Deyo et al. and described the complications and charges index for LSS. From the coword cluster analysis, there were 3 frontiers in lumbar spinal stenosis: intervention, outcomes, and pathogenesis. CONCLUSIONS We have summarized the literature on LSS in the past decade including publication information, country, institution, authors, and journal. Research on minimally invasive surgery, outcomes, and gene therapies in LSS will be hot topics in the future.

Abstract
Identifying leading publications, authors, and countries in microplastic and nanoplastic research is beneficial for regulatory decisions, determining standardized research methodology, and solidifying definitions. Here, bibliometric analysis was performed using Web of Science's Core Collection to evaluate publication trends. A total of 3820 publications were downloaded and analyzed with the majority being journal articles. Since 2009, the number of publications has substantially increased. Results revealed that although the USA and China are the topmost publishing countries, two out of three of the top publishing institutions lie outside of these countries. The year with highest total number of citations was 2019 (42,000 citations), followed by 2018 (25,000 citations) and 2017 (13,000 citations). The journal Marine Pollution Bulletin published the highest number of records and included the top cited publications. Top publishing countries and the top cited publications and authors will likely pave the way for standardization in both microplastic and nanoplastic research.

Abstract
This study quantitatively investigated the scientific progress of walkability research landscape and its future prospects using bibliometric indicators to highlight the research hotspots. The results accentuated multifaceted nature of walkability research landscape with a strong association towards public health disciplines. Keyword co-occurrence analysis emphasized that majority of the walkability studies centred on the interactions between walking and other three main factors such as built environment attributes, transportation and obesity. Based on the identified research hotspots, a brief state-of-the-art review of walkability studies was presented. Future prospects based on the unexplored research gaps within the hotspots were also discussed. High correlation (r = 0.99, p < 0.05) between annual publications and citation counts demonstrated the significance of walkability studies to the contemporary scientific community. Being one of the comprehensive studies to evaluate the historic trajectory of walkability research landscape, the findings were expected to accelerate a comprehensive understanding of the walkability research domain that will assist future research direction.

Abstract
Calcium channels are involved in pathologies across all the major therapeutic areas involving the cardiac, neurological, metabolic, and respiratory systems. Although calcium channels have been the hotspot of multidisciplinary research for decades, the hotspots and frontier trends of calcium channel research have not been comprehensively analyzed by bibliometrics. Here, we collected scientific publications on calcium channel research in the past decade to explore the hotspots and frontier directions of calcium channel research by bibliometric analysis. Publications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database from 2010 to 2019. Citespace5.6 R5 was used to perform bibliometric analysis on the countries, institutions, authors, and related research areas. In total, 26,664 articles were analyzed. The United States and the University of California are the most productive country and institution for calcium channel research. The most productive researchers were Lang, Florian, Zamponi, Gerald W, and Jan, Chung-Ren. PLoS One had the most significant number of publications (986). Research hotspots can be summarized as the regulation mechanism of calcium channels, calcium channel blockers, and ryanodine receptor. The research frontiers were the effect of calcium channel on cell proliferation, gene mutation, calcium channels in neuropathic pain, and calcium-signaling pathway. This is the first report to visualize and analyze hotspots and emerging trends in calcium channel research.

Abstract
The relationship between industrial structure and carbon emissions has been widely identified as a critical research topic by international organizations and academics. Using bibliometrics analysis, this study aimed at dissecting the global characteristics and trends of research on industrial structure and carbon emissions. Based on the 806 documents from 2004 to 2019 in Web of Science, this work was implemented from four aspects, including basic characteristics analysis, country/territory and institution analysis, category and journal analysis, and reference and keyword analysis. The results of this study showed rapid growth trends of research on industrial structure and carbon emissions from 2015 to 2019. The collaborations among countries and institutions were extensive worldwide with China, the USA, and the UK as the main participants. Furthermore, the corresponding research topics, research priorities, and research paths were summarized according to the references co-citation analysis and keywords cluster analysis, which from the perspective of the correlation between different types of industry with carbon emissions. Finally, the timezone view of the top 100 keywords indicated that the emerging trends in the research on industrial structure and carbon emissions were regional analysis, industrialization, and environmental efficiency, and prediction of carbon emissions peak and the spatial distribution in different types of industries were the hotspots in recent years. The findings provide a better understanding of global characteristics and trends that have emerged in this field, which can also offer reference for future research.

Abstract
Background Researchers are highly interested in the study of nonspecific low back pain (NSLBP). However, few have attempted to collect global data, analyze the emerging trends, and conduct reviews from the perspectives of visualization and bibliometrics. Purpose We aimed to evaluate research situation and capture subsequent developmental dynamics regarding NSLBP via CiteSpace. Methods Publications on NSLBP in recent 19 years were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). We used CiteSpace to analyze publication outputs, document types, countries, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords. Knowledge foundation, hot topics, and future direction were then stated. Results A total of 1099 papers were collected, and the trend of annual publications maintained growth with small fluctuations. Australia (188) and the University of Sydney (76) were the most prolific country and institution, respectively. The Netherlands (0.84) and the University of Sydney (0.47) had the maximum centrality, thus indicating that they have importance in this field. The journal Spine (publication: 87, cocitation counts: 942) ranked first in terms of the volume of publications and cocitation counts. Maher CG (52) who published the most papers and Waddell G (286) who was cited most frequently were the leading authors, thus making strong academic influences. "Motor control exercise" was the largest cluster, which contained most related research articles. 14 references with the strongest citation counts were cited until 2018, thus implying the future development trend. Current hotspots were treatment, meta-analysis, method, and risk factors. Spine, efficacy, adult, and meta-analysis can be regarded as research frontiers. Conclusion This study offers insights into the trend of NSLBP to determine major research countries and institutions, core journals, pivotal authors, overall development tendency, hot topics, and research frontiers. Moreover, it will help researchers extract hidden valuable information for further study.

Abstract
Rapid growth in the food-energy-water (FEW) nexus literature calls for an assessment of the trajectory and impacts of this scholarship to identify key themes and future research directions. In this paper, we report on a bibliometric analysis of this literature that focuses on (1) examining publication trends and geographic focus of research, (2) identifying research hotspots and emerging themes, (3) assessing the integrated nature of research, and (4) reflecting on major developments and ways forward. We used Elsevier’s SCOPUS database to search for publications from January 2011 to May 2018 on the FEW nexus, and analyzed the final sample of 257 publications using BibExcel and Vosviewer software tools. The analysis showed steady growth in publications since 2011 with a sharp upturn in 2015 and 2016, coinciding with major funding calls. Thematic analysis of abstracts revealed a strong focus on quantitative resource interlinkages with limited attention to qualitative institutional capacities and intersectoral governance challenges. Term co-occurrence network map showed the term “investment” connected with a large number of frequently cited terms, while the term “governance” demonstrated much weaker links. We reflect on how these findings may help us better understand and address the enduring challenge of transitioning from nexus thinking to action.

Abstract
This article presents the initial test results examining basic technological factors, such as type of modifying agent and seasoning time, which influence properties of adhesive epoxide compositions. The aim of the study was to prepare adhesive compositions with 2% content of the selected natural fillers (montmorillonite NanoBent ZR-2, ground chalk (powder)—CaCO3, and activated carbon powder C) and to examine their strength properties. A polymeric matrix used to prepare an adhesive composition consisted of the epoxide resins used in industry: Epidian 5 and Epidian 53 cured by addition of an aminomethyl group, where curing occurred through the Mannich reaction. A composition of epoxide resins with a curing agent and without any modifying agents was used as reference. The examinations described in the present article aimed to show the significance of the impact of the fillers used on the strength properties of the examined compositions. A fracture surface of epoxide adhesive compositions modified with the selected fillers was tested by means of a scanning electron microscope.

Abstract
Research on the field of nanomaterials in environment has continued to be a major area of interest in recent years. To present the up-to-date progress in this field, a bibliometric study is conducted to analyze 7087 related publications in the Science Citation Index (SCI) core collection of Web of Science based on the expanded SCI. These publications are identified through using representative keywords in the research directions environment of the Web of Science. This study finds that China and the United States dominate the field; one difference between them is that China issued more independent publications and the United States issued more cooperative publications. In addition, the number of the related publications in Asian countries has exceeded that of European and American ones. A Chinese institution, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has an absolute dominance in this field. Traditional high-impact environmental journals have ruled this field. The number of publications in the Energy and Environmental Science field has gradually decreased. In addition, a co-citation analysis shows that previous studies in this field can be divided into four major branches, and that graphene oxide and nano-inorganic particles are increasingly becoming research hotspots.

Abstract
Sunscreens can induce ecotoxicological effects and may cause significant impacts in the aquatic ecosystem. In spite of that, ecotoxicological responses of key marine species to sunscreens are scarcely studied in Mediterranean ecosystems, and literature data are lacking. Furthermore, changes in water salinity induced by global warming could significantly affect the ecotoxicological responses of marine species exposed to sunscreens. This research focuses on the evaluation of ecotoxicological responses of Phaeodactylum tricornutum (algae), Corophium orientalis (macroinvertebrate), and Paracentrotus lividus (echinoderms) exposed to sunscreens, which include both chemical- and physical-based. This study, also, analyzes the changes in ecotoxicological responses of the tested species linked to increase in salinity. Results showed that salinity stress significantly increases the toxicity of sunscreens on the tested marine species. Physical-based sunscreens resulted in more toxicity at higher salinity than chemical-based ones toward C. orientalis and P. tricornutum. This study evidenced that risk classifications of sunscreens recorded under standard salinity conditions could be significantly different from that recorded in the natural environment under salinity stress. The collection of a complete dataset on the ecotoxicological effects of sunscreens on marine species tested under salinity stress could be useful to correctly weigh risks for the marine environment under possible future ecological changing scenarios following the global changing driver.

Abstract
In Europe REACH framework directive imposes data acquisition concerning toxicity on acquatic species before the commercialization of chemicals to assess environmental risks. According to official methods, exposure tests are performed under in vitro and standardized conditions: OECD's guideline rules external variables such as water type, feeding conditions, and exposure time. As consequence, such obtained results could be different from effects observed in natural environments. This study collects effects within 24-96 h of exposure to nano metal-oxides (ZnO, TiO2) on D. magna obtained by the exposure under standard OECD conditions comparing them with results obtained by the exposure under more similar conditions to natural environment (i.e. mixture, feeding). High doses exposure determines gas-bubble disease. Animals exposed to LC10 actively ingest nanoparticles under both fasting and feeding conditions. Furthermore, body burial by a coat of nanoparticles thicker in mixtures than in single dispersions was recorded. Furthermore, results show that: (i) effects increase over time; (ii) n-ZnO results less effective than n-TiO2 in both single dispersion, and mixture; (iii) the presence of surfactant increases toxicity of nanoparticles; (iv) immobilization is a more sensitive endpoint than mortality; (v) feeding increases test sensitiveness improving differences among treated and controls till 96 h and allowing longer exposure times than standard OECD test. As general remark, this study provides evidence that in vitro ecotoxicological results obtained under standardized OECD conditions could be significant different to animals' responses under natural (feeding and mixtures) exposure conditions.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate and compare the h-indices of the editorial board members of ophthalmic subspecialty journals. STUDY DESIGN Descriptive Cross Sectional Research. METHODS Bibliometric indices were calculated for the editorial board members of seven ophthalmic subspecialty journals. Correlations between the median h-indexes and journal impact factors (JIF), average citations per article and JIF, and publication count and JIF were analyzed. RESULTS The median h-indices of the board members of Retina, Journal of Glaucoma, Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Cornea, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Neuroophthalmology and Journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (J AAPOS) were 34, 26, 23, 17, 15, 14 and 13, respectively. H-indices and publication count were correlated with JIF (P<0.05, for each). CONCLUSION The board members of Retina have the highest h-index and average citations per article, and J AAPOS have the least. These data provide useful benchmarks for comparison of the various subspecialty areas in ophthalmology.

Abstract
Purpose We aimed to build a model to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate publications of research of spinal cord injury rehabilitation from 1997 to 2016. Methods Data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection on October 6, 2017. We conducted a qualitative and quantitative analysis of publication outputs, journals, authors, institutions, countries, cited references, keywords, and terms by bibliometric methods and bibliometric software packages. Results We identified 5,607 publications on rehabilitation of spinal cord injury from 1997 to 2016, and found that the annual publication rate increased with time. The Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation published the largest number of literature, the most active country was USA, the most active institution was University of Washington, and Post MWM was the leading author. Keyword analysis indicated that life satisfaction, muscle strength, wheelchair training, walking, gait, and others were the hot spots of these research studies, whereas classification, exoskeleton, plasticity, and old adult were research frontiers. Conclusion This bibliometric study revealed that research on rehabilitation of spinal cord injury is a well-developed and promising research field. Global scientific research cooperation is close. However, higher quality research is needed. Our findings provide valuable information for researchers to identify better perspectives and develop the future research direction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Paraquat is considered to be the main pesticide involved in accidental and intentional poisoning, and is responsible for a high rate of morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study is to present a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of paraquat intoxication-related research. METHODS Data was retrieved in March 2017 from the Scopus database. An overview of the research on paraquat intoxication was presented alongside the information related to several bibliometric indicators, such as research trends, countries with their h-index, collaboration, hot issues, top-cited publications, journals, and institutions. RESULTS There were 1971 publications related to paraquat intoxication in the Scopus database that were published between 1966 and 2015. There was increasing research output in the field of paraquat intoxication during the period 2006-2015. The USA published the highest number of publications (n = 338), followed by Japan with 228 publications, and China with 159 publications. The USA and the UK achieved the greatest h-index values (h-index values of 49 and 31, respectively). The USA also achieved the highest number of publications involving international collaboration, with 55 publications, followed by the UK, with 18 publications. The most prevalent topics in this field were "acute paraquat intoxication," "toxic effects of paraquat to the lung," and "mechanism of paraquat toxicity." CONCLUSIONS Although a substantial amount of research has been produced on paraquat intoxication for most developed countries, there are research gaps regarding the international research agenda in this research area. The findings could be applied for prioritizing and organizing future research efforts related to paraquat toxicity.

Abstract
A multidisciplinary approach to research affords the opportunity of objectivity, creation of new knowledge and potentially a more generally acceptable solution to problems that informed the research in the first place. It increasingly features in national programmes supporting basic and applied research, but for over 40 years, has been the arena for many research teams in environmental geochemistry and health. This study explores the nature of multidisciplinary research in the earth and health sciences using a sample selected from co-authored articles reporting research on arsenic (As) in drinking water from 1979 to 2013. A total of 889 relevant articles were sourced using the online version of the science citation index-expanded (SCI-expanded). The articles were classified according to author affiliation and later by author discipline/research interests using the Revised Field of Science and Technology Frascati manual DSTI/EAS/STP/NESTI (2006) 19/FINAL and a decision algorithm. Few articles were published on the topic until 2000. More articles were published across all affiliations in the last 10 years of the review period (2004-2013) than in the first 10 years (1979-1988). Only 84 (~9%) articles fell within the "earth and health" only and "earth, health and other" categories when classification was undertaken by author affiliation alone. This suggests that level of collaboration between earth and health scientists in arsenic in drinking water research may be very low. By refining the classification further using author discipline/research interests, only 28 of the 84 articles appear to be co-authored by earth and health scientists alongside professionals in other fields. More than half of these 28 articles involved descriptive non-experimental, observational study designs, limited in direct causal hypotheses and mechanistic investigation. If collaborative research is to lead to the increased multidisciplinary research, early interaction should be encouraged between students from different disciplines. In order to achieve multidisciplinarity in practise, it is imperative that scientific communities and research agencies do more to encourage interaction and integration between researchers from different disciplines. This must develop from educational institutions seeing opportunities to improve graduate skills in an increasingly diverse research landscape.

Abstract
Because of the advantages of nanoparticles (NPs) in a variety of industrial, biomedical, and consumer applications, they are intentionally (such as in medicine) or unintentionally (environment exposure) introduced into the human body. However, to date, the detrimental effects of NPs are still unclear, especially in reproductive and developmental toxicity. In this study, we researched 266 articles related to the reproductive and developmental toxicity of NPs from 2006 to December 2016 based on the database of the Web of Science. According to the bibliometric analysis, we found that China and the United States were the leading countries in this field and the major research trends might focus on the pathogenesis of NPs, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, and DNA damage. By this analysis, we provide new insights into the research trends and characteristics of the field.

Abstract
A bibliometric analysis based on Scopus database was performed to identify the global research trends related to Supported Ionic Liquid Membranes (SILMs) during the time period from 1995 to 2015. This work tries to improve the understanding of the most relevant research topics and applications. The results from the analysis reveal that only after 2005 the research efforts focused on SILMs became significant, since the references found before that year are scarce. The most important research works on the four main application groups for SILMs defined in this work (carbon dioxide separation, other gas phase separations, pervaporation and liquid phase separations) were summarized in this paper. Carbon dioxide separation appeared as the application that has received by far the most attention according to the research trends during the analysed period. Comments about other significant applications that are gaining attention, such as the employment of SILMs in analytical tasks or their consideration for the production of fuel cells, have been included.

Abstract
Ammonia oxidation is the rate-limiting and central step in global biogeochemistry cycle of nitrogen. A bibliometric analysis based on 4314 articles extracted from Science Citation Index Expanded database was carried out to provide insights into publication performances and research trends of ammonia oxidation in the period 1991-2014. These articles were originated from a wide range of 602 journals and 95 Web of Science Categories, among which Applied and Environmental Microbiology and Environmental Sciences took the leading position, respectively. Furthermore, co-citation analysis conducted with help of CiteSpace software clearly illustrated that ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA), and anaerobic ammonia oxidation (anammox) were three dominant research themes. A total of 15 landmark works identified with the highest co-citation frequencies at every 8 years were extracted, which demonstrated that the establishments of culture-independent molecular biotechnologies as well as the discoveries of anammox and AOA played the most significant roles in promoting the evolution and development of ammonia oxidation research. Finally, word cluster analysis further suggested that microbial abundance and community of AOA and AOB was the most prominent hotspot, with soil and high-throughput sequencing as the most promising ecosystem and molecular biotechnology. In addition, application of anammox in nitrogen removal from wastewater has become another attractive research hotspot. This study provides a basis for better understanding the situations and prospective directions of the research field of ammonia oxidation.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In order to minimize adverse health effects and increase the benefits of physical activity, it is important to systematize indoor air quality study in environments used for physical exercise and sports. OBJECTIVES To investigate and analyze the scientific production related to indoor air quality of environments used for physical exercise and sports practice through a bibliometric analysis. METHODS The databases Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus, Lilacs, Medline via Pubmed, and SportDiscus were searched from their inception to March 2016. Bibliometric analysis was performed for authors, institutions, countries, and collaborative networks, in relation to publication year, theme, citation network, funding agency, and analysis of titles and keywords of publications. Country, area, and impact factor of the journals were analyzed. RESULTS Of 1281 studies screened, 34 satisfied the inclusion criteria. The first publication occurred in 1975. An increase in publications was observed in the last 15 years. Most of the studies were performed by researchers in the USA, followed by Portugal and Italy. Seventeen different scientific journals have published studies on the subject, and most are in the area of Environmental Sciences. It was noted that the categories of author keywords associated with "Pollutants," "Sport Environment," and "Physical Exercise" were the most commonly used in most studies. A total of 68% of the studies had at least one funding agency, and 81% of studies published in the last decade had funding. CONCLUSIONS Our results demonstrate that there is recent exponential growth, driven in the last decade by researchers in environmental science from European institutions.

Abstract
We aimed to analyze the global scientific output of regulatory T-cell (Treg) research and built a model to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate publications from 2000 to 2015. Data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) of Thomson Reuters on January 1, 2016. The bibliometric method and Citespace III were used to analyze authors, journals, publication outputs, institutions, countries, research areas, research hotspots, and trends. In total, we identified 35,741 publications on Treg research from 2000 to 2015, and observed that the annual publication rate increased with time. The Journal of Immunology published the highest number of articles, the leading country was the USA, and the leading institute was Harvard University. Sakaguchi, Hori, Fontenot, and Wang were the top authors in Treg research. Immunology accounted for the highest number of publications, followed by oncology, experimental medicine, cell biology, and hematology. Keyword analysis indicated that autoimmunity, inflammation, cytokine, gene expression, foxp3, and immunotherapy were the research hotspots, whereas autoimmune inflammation, gene therapy, granzyme B, RORγt, and th17 were the frontiers of Treg research. This bibliometric analysis revealed that Treg-related studies are still research hotspots, and that Treg-related clinical therapies are the research frontiers; however, further study and collaborations are needed worldwide. Overall, our findings provide valuable information for the editors of immunology journals to identify new perspectives and shape future research directions.
