Abstract
cis-1-amino-2-indanol is an important building block in many areas of chemistry. Indeed, this molecule is currently used as skeleton in many ligands (BOX, PyBOX…), catalysts and chiral auxiliaries. Moreover, it has been incorporated in numerous bioactive structures. The major issues during its synthesis are the control of cis-selectivity, for which various strategies have been devised, and the enantioselectivity of the reaction. This review highlights the various methodologies implemented over the last few decades to access cis-1-amino-2-indanol in racemic and enantioselective manners. In addition, the various substitution patterns on the aromatic ring and their preparations are listed.

Abstract
An efficient protocol for the synthesis of β-hydroxy(alkoxy)selenides was developed through the electrochemical iodide-catalyzed oxyselenation of styrene derivatives with dialkyl(aryl)diselenides under mild reaction conditions. Mechanistic studies showed that the cation I+ is involved during the whole process, and accelerates the formation of seleniranium ion via substitution and addition reaction with dialkyl(aryl)diselenides and styrene derivatives. The corresponding products are formed in good to excellent yields. This electrochemical oxyselenation provides an efficient strategy for difunctionalization of alkenes.

Abstract
An efficient and facile procedure for the odourless and highly regioselective synthesis of β-hydroxyselenides by the ring-opening of epoxides with 1,2-diphenyldiselenide in the presence of Rongalite® and K2CO3 under solvent-free conditions on grinding has been developed. The important features of this methodology are high yields, reasonably rapid reaction rate, simple workup, high regioselectivity and no requirement for metal catalysts.
