Abstract
Developing a straightforward method to remove pesticide residues from fruits is essential for food safety. In this study, ozone microbubble treatment was performed on three fruits (strawberry, cherry, and apricot) to remove four pesticide residues (emamectin benzoate, azoxystrobin, boscalid, and difenoconazole) while comparing removal efficiency. The concentration of hydroxyl radicals in different washing orientations was homogeneous at a concentration ranging between 8.9 and 10.2 μmol·L-1. Under long washing time (18 min), strawberry, cherry, and apricot obtained higher removal rates of 51 %∼65 %, 51 %∼59 % and 24 %∼70 %, respectively. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle (CA) revealed that apricot has better hydrophobicity, leading to a higher pesticide removal of 45 ∼ 84 % with less water and more vigorous washing. Notably, vitamin C content in fruits remain largely unchanged following ozone microbubble treatment. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of ozone microbubble treatment as pollution-free method for enhancing food safety by removing pesticide residues on fruits.

Abstract
Objective: The ultrasonography features of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) and intramuscular capillary-type hemangiomas (ICTH) were analyzed, and the diagnostic model of ASPS was established. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out. The clinical data of 52 patients [28 males and 24 females, aged (20.7±15.1) years] with pathologically confirmed ASPS and ICTH admitted to People's Hospital of Henan Province from January 2005 to February 2023 were included in the study. According to pathological types, the patients were divided into ASPS group and ICTH group. Clinical data of patients were retrospectively collected, and meaningful indicators in the univariate analysis were included in the regression analysis for screening. After comprehensive consideration of clinical significance and statistical significance, eligible indicators were selected for inclusion in the regression analysis. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to screen the factors that distinguished the pathological types of ASPS and ICTH, and the diagnostic model was established. The area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic effectiveness of the diagnostic model in distinguishing ASPS from ICTH. Results: There were 20 patients in ASPS group, 10 males and 10 females, aged (26.9±13.5) years, and 32 patients in ICTH group, 18 males and 14 females, aged (16.8±15.0) years. The age difference between the ASPS group and the ICTH group was statistically significant (P<0.05), and there were statistically significant differences in the ultrasound imaging features of "clear boundary" "peripheral lobe" "thin blood vessels inside the lesion are straight and out of shape" "intra-lesion liquification" "peripheral thick blood vessels" and "peripheral muscle fiber disruption" between the two groups (all P<0.001).Variables with clinical and statistical significance were selected as independent variables. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that peripheral muscle fiber interruption (OR=97.358, 95%CI:6.833-1 387.249) and internal thin blood vessels were flat and out of shape (OR=0.052, 95%CI:0.003-0.921) was the correlation factor to distinguish the pathological types of ASPS and ICTH. Two ultrasonic image features of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" and "internal thin blood vessels are straight and out of shape" were used to establish the diagnostic model. The sensitivity of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" diagnostic model was 81.3%, and the specificity was 95.0%. The AUC was 0.811(95%CI: 0.761-0.954). The sensitivity, specificity and AUC of the diagnosis model of "internal thin vessels with flat misshape" were 90.0%, 96.9% and 0.934(95%CI: 0.830-0.984). The sensitivity, specificity and AUC of the combined diagnosis model of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" and "internal thin blood vessel straight out of shape" were 96.9%, 90.0% and 0.974(95%CI:0.877-0.999). Conclusion: Ultrasonography can be used to distinguish ASPS from ICTH, and the combined diagnostic model based on the two ultrasonic imaging features of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" and "internal thin blood vessel straight out of shape" can further improve the diagnostic efficiency.

Abstract
The transformation induced plasticity phenomenon occurs when one phase transforms to another one during plastic deformation, which is usually diffusionless. Here we present elemental partitioning-mediated crystalline-to-amorphous phase transformation during quasi-static plastic deformation, in an alloy in form of a Cr-Ni-Co (crystalline)/Zr-Ti-Nb-Hf-Ni-Co (amorphous) nanolaminated composite, where the constitute elements of the two phases have large negative mixing enthalpy. Upon plastic deformation, atomic intermixing occurs between adjacent amorphous and crystalline phases due to extensive rearrangement of atoms at the interfaces. The large negative mixing enthalpy among the constituent elements promotes amorphous phase transformation of the original crystalline phase, which shows different composition and short-range-order structure compared with the other amorphous phase. The reduced size of the crystalline phase shortens mean-free-path of dislocations, facilitating strain hardening. The enthalpy-guided alloy design based on crystalline-to-amorphous phase transformation opens up an avenue for the development of crystal-glass composite alloys with ultrahigh strength and large plasticity.

Abstract
PURPOSE Wearing ortho-k lenses overnight may not fully correct their daytime refractory errors of adolescents with moderate to high myopia. There are three common ways to deal with the daytime residual refractive error (RRE): 1) wearing spectacles to correct the RRE; 2) wear ortho-k lenses during the daytime instead of overnight.; 3) not correcting the residual refractive error. According to previous laboratory studies, myopic peripheral refraction is associated with better myopic control. This study had two aims:1) to compare relative peripheral refractive error (RPRE) among these ways after one-month stabilization; 2) to assess the axial length changes over 2 years of ortho-k lens overnight wear combined with spectacle glasses. METHODS This was a prospective, non-controlled, non-randomized, observational study in which a total of 27 subjects (20 females, 7 males, mean age 12.48 ± 2.23Y) with spherical equivalent refractive error from -5.00 to -8.25D were enrolled. All participants in the study wore orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses overnight for a minimum of one month. Subsequently, their peripheral refractive error (PRE) was assessed using an open-field autorefractor. During the assessment, the participants underwent three conditions in a random order in a same morning: 1) unaided eye after orthokeratology (referred to as the Unaided-eye condition), 2) wearing glasses to correct any remaining refractive errors after orthokeratology (referred to as the Spec-RE condition), and 3) wearing ortho-k lenses during the daytime (referred to as the Continuous OK wear condition). After testing, all subjects were instructed to wear ortho-k lenses overnight and glasses during the daytime to correct their RRE for the next 2 years, during which time the progression of their axial length was followed up. RESULTS 1) RPRE in either Unaided-eye or Spec-RE condition subjects were significantly more myopic than those in the Continuous OK wear condition. 2) No difference in RPRE was seen between Unaided-eye and Spec-RE conditions. 3) Axial length growth was 0.05 ± 0.20 mm and 0.17 ± 0.32 mm (mean ± standard deviation) at 1-year and 2-year follow-ups after the initial visit, respectively, which were comparable to mild myopia patients after orthokeratology. 4) After orthokeratology, axial length change had negative correlation with the initial age (p = 0.001, r = -0.616) and residual diopter (p = 0.022). CONCLUSIONS For myopes above refraction < -5.00D, wearing Ortho-k lenses overnight and glasses to correct the RRE in the daytime is recommended to ensure good visual quality and have more myopic RPRE for potential myopia control.

Abstract
AIM To assess the association of quantitative computed tomography (CT) features on admission with acute pancreatitis (AP) severity, and to explore the performance of combined CT and laboratory markers for predicting severe AP (SAP). MATERIALS AND METHODS Data from 208 AP patients were reviewed retrospectively. Pancreas volume, the area of extrapancreatic inflammation, extrapancreatic fluid collection volume, and number were calculated based on CT images on admission. Laboratory biomarkers within 24 h of admission were collected. Interobserver agreement for CT measurements was measured by calculating interclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The associations of quantitative CT features with AP severity were evaluated. Predictive models for SAP were constructed based on CT and laboratory markers. Performances of single marker and the models were evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and area under the ROC curve (AUC). RESULTS Pancreas volume, area of extrapancreatic inflammation, extrapancreatic fluid collection volume, and number were significantly different between severe and non-severe AP groups. In predicting SAP, the AUCs of quantitative CT indicators ranged from 0.72 to 0.79; the AUCs of laboratory biomarkers were between 0.53 and 0.66. The combined model of area of extrapancreatic inflammation, serum calcium, and haematocrit yielded an AUC of 0.84, significantly higher than that of the laboratory model, single CT, or laboratory marker. Interobserver agreements for quantitative CT indicators were excellent, with ICC ranging from 0.91 to 0.98. CONCLUSION Quantitative CT features on admission were significantly associated with AP severity; the combination of extrapancreatic inflammation area, serum calcium, and haematocrit could be taken as a new method for predicting SAP.

Abstract
In this study, we present an in-depth characterization of a diamond-like carbon (DLC) film, using a range of techniques to understand the structure and chemistry of the film both in the interior and particularly at the DLC/air surface and DLC/liquid interface. The DLC film is found to be a combination of sp2 and sp3 carbon, with significant oxygen present at the surface. The oxygen seems to be present as OH groups, making the DLC somewhat hydrophilic. Quartz-Crystal Microbalance (QCM) isotherms and complementary neutron reflectivity data indicate significant adsorption of a model additive, bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate sodium salt (AOT) surfactant, onto the DLC from water solutions and indicate the adsorbed film is a bilayer. This initial study of the structure and composition of a model surfactant is intended to give a clearer insight into how DLC and additives function as antiwear systems.

Abstract
With the aging of the global population, the health care burden of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia is considered to increase dramatically in the coming decades. Given the insufficiency of effective interventions for AD and dementia, clinical research on identifying potentially modifiable risk factors and early diagnostic biomarkers becomes a public health priority. Currently, extracerebral manifestations with a large proportion of ocular involvement are usually recognized to precede the symptoms of AD and dementia. Growing epidemiologic evidence also suggests that eye disorders, such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and so on, are closely associated with and even have a higher incidence of AD and dementia. The eye, as an extension of the central nervous system, therefore has the potential to provide a feasible approach to detecting structural and functional abnormalities of the brain. Numerous new imaging modalities are developed and give novel insights into the detection of several neurodegenerative, vascular, neuropathological, and other ocular abnormalities of AD and dementia in scientific research and clinical application. This review provides an overview of the epidemiologic associations between eye disorders and AD or dementia and summarizes the recent advances in ocular examinations and techniques employed for the detection of AD and dementia. With more brain-and-eye interconnections being identified, the eye is becoming a noninvasive and easily accessible window for the early diagnosis and prevention of AD and dementia.

AIM To identify factors that may be associated with fumarate detection rate in 1H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) in fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (FH-RCC). MATERIALS AND MEHODS Between February 2018 and March 2022, 16 FH-RCC patients with 30 lesions underwent 1H-MRS. Detection results were classified as having a detected fumarate peak (n=12), undetected peak (n=10), or technical failure (n=8). Factors including tumour size, tumour location, treatment history, and metastasis status were collected and analysed. A Bayesian logistic regression model was applied to evaluate the association between these factors and the detection result. RESULTS Bayesian analysis demonstrated significant associations between fumarate detection results and the following factors: long-axis diameter (odds ratio [OR] of 1.64; 95% confidence interval [CI] of 1.07-2.53), short-axis diameter (OR of 1.90; 95% CI of 1.19-3.06), voxel size (OR of 2.85; 95% CI of 1.70-4.75), treatment history (OR of 0.35; 95% CI of 0.21-0.58), non-metastatic state (OR of 2.45; 95% CI of 1.48-4.06), and lymph node metastasis (OR of 0.35; 95% CI of 0.21-0.58). Technical failure results were associated with factors such as treatment history (OR of 2.59; 95% CI of 1.37-4.66), non-metastatic state (OR of 0.36; 95% CI of 0.19-0.66), and lymph node metastasis (OR of 2.61; 95% CI of 1.39-4.74). CONCLUSION Tumour size, treatment history, and metastasis character were associated with the detection of abnormal fumarate accumulation. This finding will serve as a reference for interpreting 1H-MRS results and for selecting suitable scenarios to evaluate FH-RCC.

Abstract
We recently developed a SCC-FRET (single-cell-based calibration of a FRET system) method to quantify spectral crosstalk correction parameters (β and δ) and system calibration parameters (G and k) of a Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) system by imaging a single cell expressing a standard FRET plasmid with known FRET efficiency (E) and donor-acceptor concentration ratio (RC) (Liu et al., Opt. Express30, 29063 (2022)10.1364/OE.459861). Here we improved the SCC-FRET method (named as Im-SCC-FRET) to simultaneously obtain β, δ, G, k and the acceptor-to-donor extinction coefficient ratio (ε A ε D), which is a key parameter to calculate the acceptor-centric FRET efficiency (EA), of a FRET system when the range of β and δ values is set as 0-1. In Im-SCC-FRET, the target function is changed from the sum of absolute values to the sum of squares according to the least squares method, and the initial value of β and δ estimated by the integral but not the maximum value spectral overlap between fluorophore and filter. Compared with SCC-FRET, the experimental results demonstrate that Im-SCC-FRET can obtain more accurate and stable results for β, δ, G, and k, and add the ratio ε A ε D, which is necessary for the FRET hybrid assay. Im-SCC-FRET reduces the complexity of experiment preparation and opens up a promising avenue for developing an intelligent FRET correction system.

Abstract
Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) is defined as a single hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell (HSPC) gaining selective advantage over a broader range of HSPCs. When linked to somatic mutations in myeloid malignancy-associated genes, such as TET2-mediated clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential or CHIP, it represents increased risk for hematological malignancies and cardiovascular disease. IL1β is elevated in patients with CHIP, however, its effect is not well understood. Here we show that IL1β promotes expansion of pro-inflammatory monocytes/macrophages, coinciding with a failure in the demethylation of lymphoid and erythroid lineage associated enhancers and transcription factor binding sites, in a mouse model of CHIP with hematopoietic-cell-specific deletion of Tet2. DNA-methylation is significantly lost in wild type HSPCs upon IL1β administration, which is resisted by Tet2-deficient HSPCs, and thus IL1β enhances the self-renewing ability of Tet2-deficient HSPCs by upregulating genes associated with self-renewal and by resisting demethylation of transcription factor binding sites related to terminal differentiation. Using aged mouse models and human progenitors, we demonstrate that targeting IL1 signaling could represent an early intervention strategy in preleukemic disorders. In summary, our results show that Tet2 is an important mediator of an IL1β-promoted epigenetic program to maintain the fine balance between self-renewal and lineage differentiation during hematopoiesis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Roxadustat is used to treat renal anemia. The renoprotective effect of roxadustat needs to be further confirmed, and the mechanism of action is unknown. This study aims to evaluate the effect and mechanism of roxadustat in hypoxia-related nephropathy with the renal tubular epithelial cell line NRK-52E. MATERIALS AND METHODS The cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was employed to assess cellular proliferation in the current investigation. Flow cytometry was used to conduct cell apoptosis analysis. The utilization of electron microscopy facilitated the identification of changes in cellular ultrastructure. Immunofluorescence was used to detect the expression trend of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α). The connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), Smad family member 3 (Smad3), p-Smad3, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), collagen I, and HIF-1α were assessed by western blotting. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to measure TGF-β1 and Smad3 mRNA. RESULTS Significant growth inhibition and increased apoptosis were observed in NRK-52E cells cultured under hypoxic conditions (1% and 5% O2), which can be rescued by roxadustat. From a morphological perspective, it has been observed that roxadustat can counteract cellular damage features produced by hypoxia. These features include the contraction of the nuclear envelope and an increase in the formation of apoptotic bodies. Roxadustat increases HIF-1α expression acutely at 24 h, followed by a gradual reduction of HIF-1α expression to levels significantly below that of the hypoxia group by 72 h. Roxadustat can also inhibit hypoxia-induced increased expression of CTGF, TGF-β1, p-Smad3, α-SMA, collagen I, and HIF-1α. Combined treatment with roxadustat and siRNA against TGF-β1 synergistically reduced the expression of CTGF and HIF-1α, while the effect on TGF-β1 and p-Smad3 were comparable to that of the individual treatment alone. Comparably, the combined administration of roxadustat and siRNA targeting Smad3 had a synergistic impact on diminishing the expression of CTGF. CONCLUSIONS These findings indicate that roxadustat attenuates experimental renal fibrosis likely by inhibiting the TGF-β1/Smad3 pathways, while its effect on CTGF and HIF-1α may involve other signaling pathways.

Abstract
A metal-free oxidative trideuteromethylthiolation of alkenes with CD3SSO3Na using NFSI as an oxidant has been developed. The aminotrideuteromethylthiolation of a three-component reaction could be easily achieved in the presence of a cobalt catalyst. The divergent trideuteromethylthiolation of alkenes, readily available trideuteromethylthiolation reagent, and versatile synthetic strategy allow for late-stage modification of drug molecules.

Abstract
Introduction Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is a common autoimmune encephalitis, and it is associated with psychosis, dyskinesia, and seizures. Anti-NMDAR encephalitis (NMDARE) in juveniles and adults presents different clinical charactreistics. However, the pathogenesis of juvenile anti-NMDAR encephalitis remains unclear, partly because of a lack of suitable animal models. Methods We developed a model of juvenile anti-NMDAR encephalitis using active immunization with an amino terminal domain peptide from the GluN1 subunit (GluN1356 - 385) against NMDARs in 3-week-old female C57BL/6J mice. Results Immunofluorescence staining suggested that autoantibody levels in the hippocampus increased, and HEK-293T cells staining identified the target of the autoantibodies as GluN1, suggesting that GluN1-specific immunoglobulin G was successfully induced. Behavior assessment showed that the mice suffered significant cognition impairment and sociability reduction, which is similar to what is observed in patients affected by anti-NMDAR encephalitis. The mice also exhibited impaired long-term potentiation in hippocampal CA1. Pilocarpine-induced epilepsy was more severe and had a longer duration, while no spontaneous seizures were observed. Conclusion The juvenile mouse model for anti-NMDAR encephalitis is of great importance to investigate the pathological mechanism and therapeutic strategies for the disease, and could accelerate the study of autoimmune encephalitis.

Abstract
Thermal stability determines a material's ability to maintain its performance at desired service temperatures. This is especially important for aluminum (Al) alloys, which are widely used in the commercial sector. Herein, an ultra-strong and heat-resistant Al-Cu composite is fabricated with a structure of nano-AlN and submicron-Al2 O3 particles uniformly distributed in the matrix. At 350 °C, the (8.2AlN+1Al2 O3 )p /Al-0.9Cu composite achieves a high strength of 187 MPa along with a 4.6% ductility under tension. The high strength and good ductility benefit from strong pinning effect on dislocation motion and grain boundary sliding by uniform dispersion of nano-AlN particles, in conjunction with the precipitation of Guinier-Preston (GP) zones, enhancing strain hardening capacity during plastic deformation. This work can expand the selection of Al-Cu composites for potential applications at service temperatures as high as ≈350 °C.

Abstract
PURPOSE The goal of this study was to propose a knowledge-based planning system which could automatically design plans for lung cancer patients treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). METHODS AND MATERIALS From May 2018 to June 2020, 612 IMRT treatment plans of lung cancer patients were retrospectively selected to construct a planning database. Knowledge-based planning (KBP) architecture named αDiar was proposed in this study. It consisted of two parts separated by a firewall. One was the in-hospital workstation, and the other was the search engine in the cloud. Based on our previous study, A‑Net in the in-hospital workstation was used to generate predicted virtual dose images. A search engine including a three-dimensional convolutional neural network (3D CNN) was constructed to derive the feature vectors of dose images. By comparing the similarity of the features between virtual dose images and the clinical dose images in the database, the most similar feature was found. The optimization parameters (OPs) of the treatment plan corresponding to the most similar feature were assigned to the new plan, and the design of a new treatment plan was automatically completed. After αDiar was developed, we performed two studies. The first retrospective study was conducted to validate whether this architecture was qualified for clinical practice and involved 96 patients. The second comparative study was performed to investigate whether αDiar could assist dosimetrists in improving the quality of planning for the patients. Two dosimetrists were involved and designed plans for only one trial with and without αDiar; 26 patients were involved in this study. RESULTS The first study showed that about 54% (52/96) of the automatically generated plans would achieve the dosimetric constraints of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and about 93% (89/96) of the automatically generated plans would achieve the dosimetric constraints of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). The second study showed that the quality of treatment planning designed by junior dosimetrists was improved with the help of αDiar. CONCLUSIONS Our results showed that αDiar was an effective tool to improve planning quality. Over half of the patients' plans could be designed automatically. For the remaining patients, although the automatically designed plans did not fully meet the clinical requirements, their quality was also better than that of manual plans.

Abstract
Alkyltin fluoride is a frequently used electrophilic stannylation reagent via the cleavage of the Sn-F bond in traditional organic synthetic chemistry. Herein, we report the unprecedented copper-catalyzed aminoalkylation of maleimides using alkyltin fluoride as alkylating reagent through cleavage of the C-Sn bond via a radical pathway. Excellent functional group tolerance, use of O2 as green oxidant and late-stage modification of some drug intermediates are the standout features of the current toolbox. Mechanistic studies reveal that alkyltin fluorides are capable of producing alkyl radicals in a Cu/O2 catalytic system.

Abstract
To alleviate the mechanical instability of major shear bands in metallic glasses at room temperature, topologically heterogeneous structures were introduced to encourage the multiplication of mild shear bands. Different from the former attention on topological structures, here we present a compositional design approach to build nanoscale chemical heterogeneity to enhance homogeneous plastic flow upon both compression and tension. The idea is realized in a Ti-Zr-Nb-Si-XX/Mg-Zn-Ca-YY hierarchically nanodomained amorphous alloy, where XX and YY denote other elements. The alloy shows ~2% elastic strain and undergoes highly homogeneous plastic flow of ~40% strain (with strain hardening) in compression, surpassing those of mono- and hetero-structured metallic glasses. Furthermore, dynamic atomic intermixing occurs between the nanodomains during plastic flow, preventing possible interface failure. Our design of chemically distinct nanodomains and the dynamic atomic intermixing at the interface opens up an avenue for the development of amorphous materials with ultrahigh strength and large plasticity.

Abstract
Versatile and concise Pd-catalyzed oxidative N-alkenylation of N-aryl phosphoramidates with alkenes is described in this study, a reaction that is of great significance but surprisingly unexploited. The transformation proceeds under mild reaction conditions, using O2 as a green oxidant and TBAB as an effective additive. An efficient catalytic system allows a variety of drug-related substrates to participate in these transformations, which is of great interest in the drug discovery and development of phosphoramidates.

Abstract
Objective: Ondansetron administration is a common antemetic of acute pancreatitis therapy in the intensive care unit (ICU), but its actual association with patients' outcomes has not been confirmed. The study is aimed to determine whether the multiple outcomes of ICU patients with acute pancreatitis could benefit from ondansetron. Methods: 1,030 acute pancreatitis patients diagnosed in 2008-2019 were extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-IV database as our study cohort. The primary outcome we considered is the 90-day prognosis, and secondary outcomes included in-hospital survival and overall prognosis. Results: In MIMIC-IV, 663 acute pancreatitis patients received ondansetron administration (OND group) during their hospitalization, while 367 patients did not (non-OND group). Patients in the OND group presented better in-hospital, 90-day, and overall survival curves than the non-OND group (log-rank test: in-hospital: p < 0.001, 90-day: p = 0.002, overall: p = 0.009). After including covariates, ondansetron was associated with better survival in patients with multiple outcomes (in-hospital: HR = 0.50, 90-day: HR = 0.63, overall: HR = 0.66), and the optimal dose inflection points were 7.8 mg, 4.9 mg, and 4.6 mg, respectively. The survival benefit of ondansetron was unique and stable in the multivariate analyses after consideration of metoclopramide, diphenhydramine, and prochlorperazine, which may also be used as antiemetics. Conclusion: In ICU acute pancreatitis patients, ondansetron administration was associated with better 90-day outcomes, while results were similar in terms of in-hospital and overall outcomes, and the recommended minimum total dose might be suggested to be 4-8 mg.

Abstract
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary malignant bone tumor with high metastatic potential and relapse risk. To study the regulatory mechanism of the OS microenvironment, a complex regulatory network involving the ferroptosis- and immune response-related genes remains to be established. In the present study, we determined the effect of a comprehensive evaluation system established on the basis of ferroptosis- and immune-related genes on the immune status, related biomarkers, prognosis, and the potential regulatory networks underlying OS based on the TARGET and Gene Expression Omnibus databases that contain information on OS patients by bioinformatics analyses. We first characterized individual ferroptosis scores and immune scores through gene set variation analysis (GSVA) against TARGET-OS datasets. We then identified differentially expressed genes by score groups. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis was performed to identify the most relevant ferroptosis-related and immune-related gene modules, which facilitated the identification of 327 ferroptosis gene and 306 immune gene candidates. A 4-gene (WAS, CORT, WNT16, and GLB1L2) signature was constructed and valuation using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator-Cox regression models to effectively predict OS prognosis. The prediction efficiency was further validated by GSE39055. We stratified patients based on the prognostic scoring systems. Eight hub genes (namely CD3D, CD8A, CD3E, IL2, CD2, MYH6, MYH7, and MYL2) were identified, and TF-miRNA target regulatory networks were constructed. Furthermore, Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, gene set enrichment analysis, and GSVA were used to determine the signature's potential pathways and biological functions, which showed that the hub genes were enriched in ferroptosis-associated biological functions and immune-associated molecular mechanisms. Thereafter, we investigated the proportion and infiltration extent of 22 infiltrating immune cells by using CIBERSORT, which revealed significant subgroup differences in CD8 + T cells, M0 macrophages, and M2 macrophages. In conclusion, we determined a new ferroptosis-related and immune-related gene signature for predicting OS patients' prognosis and further explored the ferroptosis and immunity interactions during OS development, which provides insights into the exploration of molecular mechanisms and targeted therapies in patients with OS.

Abstract
Quantitative image analysis models are used for medical imaging tasks such as registration, classification, object detection, and segmentation. For these models to be capable of making accurate predictions, they need valid and precise information. We propose PixelMiner, a convolution-based deep-learning model for interpolating computed tomography (CT) imaging slices. PixelMiner was designed to produce texture-accurate slice interpolations by trading off pixel accuracy for texture accuracy. PixelMiner was trained on a dataset of 7829 CT scans and validated using an external dataset. We demonstrated the model's effectiveness by using the structural similarity index (SSIM), peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), and the root mean squared error (RMSE) of extracted texture features. Additionally, we developed and used a new metric, the mean squared mapped feature error (MSMFE). The performance of PixelMiner was compared to four other interpolation methods: (tri-)linear, (tri-)cubic, windowed sinc (WS), and nearest neighbor (NN). PixelMiner produced texture with a significantly lowest average texture error compared to all other methods with a normalized root mean squared error (NRMSE) of 0.11 (p < .01), and the significantly highest reproducibility with a concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) ≥ 0.85 (p < .01). PixelMiner was not only shown to better preserve features but was also validated using an ablation study by removing auto-regression from the model and was shown to improve segmentations on interpolated slices.

Abstract
PURPOSE Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is a rare and lethal malignant cancer. In recent years, the application of molecular-driven targeted therapy and immunotherapy has markedly improved the prognosis of ATC. This study aimed to identify characteristic genes for ATC diagnosis and revealed the role of ATC characteristic genes in drug sensitivity and immune cell infiltration. METHODS We downloaded ATC RNA-sequencing data from the GEO database. Following the combination and normalization of the dataset, we first divided the combined datasets into the training cohort and the validation cohort. We identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in ATC by differential expression analysis in the training cohort. We used two machine learning algorithms, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and support vector machine-recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) to identify ATC characteristic genes. The CIBERSORT algorithm was performed to calculate the abundance of various immune cells in ATC. Finally, we validated the expression of ATC characteristic genes by quantitative RT-PCR (RT-qPCR) in ATC cell lines and immunohistochemistry (IHC). RESULTS A total of 425 DEGs were identified in the training cohort, including 240 upregulated genes and 185 downregulated genes. Four ATC characteristic genes (ADM, PXDN, MMP1, and TFF3) were identified, and their diagnostic value was validated in the validation cohort (AUC in ROC analysis > 0.75). We established a practical gene expression-based nomogram to accurately predict the probability of ATC. We also found that ATC characteristic biomarkers are associated with the tumor immune microenvironment and drug sensitivity. CONCLUSION ADM, PXDN, MMP1, and TFF3 might serve as potential ATC diagnostic biomarkers and may be helpful for ATC molecular targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

Abstract
Pure-quartic solitons (PQSs) are gradually becoming a hotspot in recent years due to their potential advantage to achieve high energy. Meanwhile, the fundamental research of PQSs is still in the fancy stage, and exploring soliton dynamics can promote the development of PQSs. Herein, we comprehensively and numerically investigate the impact of saturation power, small-signal gain, and output coupler on PQS dynamics in passively mode-locked fiber lasers. The result indicates that altering the above parameters makes PQSs exhibit pulsating or creeping dynamics similar to traditional solitons. Moreover, introducing an intra-cavity filter combined with intra-cavity large fourth-order dispersion makes PQSs go through stationary, pulsating to erupting. That is, the intra-cavity filter changes PQS dynamics. These findings provide new insights into PQS dynamics in fiber lasers.

Abstract
The Transmembrane Carboxyl Terminal Domain (TMD) of some Bcl-2 family proteins has been demonstrated to play a key role in modulating apoptosis. We here ustilzed live-cell fluorescence imaging to evaluate how the Bcl-xL TMD (XT) regulate apoptosis. Cell viability assay revealed that XT had strong anti-apoptotic ability similarly to the full-length Bcl-xL. Fluorescence images of living cells co-expressing CFP-XT and Bad-YFP or YFP-Bax revealed that XT recruited Bad to mitochondria but prevented Bax translocation to mitochondria, and also significantly suppressed Bad/Bax-mediated apoptosis, indicating that XT prevents the pro-apoptotic function of Bad and Bax. Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) analyses determined that XT directly interacted with Bad and Bax, and deletion of XT completely eliminated the mitochondrial localization and homo-oligomerization of Bcl-xL. Fluorescence images of living cells co-expressing CFP-XT and YFP-Bax revealed that XT significantly prevented mitochondrial Bax oligomerization, resulting in cytosolic Bax distribution. Collectively, XT is necessary for the mitochondrial localization and anti-apoptotic capacity of Bcl-xL, and XT, similarly to the full-length Bcl-xL, forms homo-oligomers on mitochondria to directly interact with Bad and Bax to inhibit their apoptotic functions.

Abstract
Platinum-based catalysts are widely used in hydrogen evolution reactions; however, their applications are restricted because of the cost-efficiency trade-off. Here, we present a thermodynamics-based design strategy for synthesizing an Al73Mn7Ru20 (atomic %) metal catalyst via combinatorial magnetron co-sputtering. The new electrocatalyst is composed of ~2 nanometers of medium-entropy nanocrystals surrounded by ~2 nanometers of amorphous regions. The catalyst exhibits exceptional performance, similar to that of single-atom catalysts and better than that of nanocluster-based catalysts. We use aluminum rather than a noble metal as the principal element of the catalyst and ruthenium, which is cheaper than platinum, as the noble metal component. The design strategy provides an efficient route for the development of electrocatalysts for use in large-scale hydrogen production. Moreover, the superior hydrogen reaction evolution created by the synergistic effect of the nano-dual-phase structure is expected to guide the development of high-performance catalysts in other alloy systems.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the short and medium term effect of branch-first technique in total thoracic aorta replacement. Methods: The clinical data of eleven patients with ascending aortic aneurysms or type A aortic dissection+Crawford Ⅰ or Ⅱ total thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm who were treated at Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in Henan Province Chest Hospital from January 2018 to July 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 7 males and 4 females, aging (38±5) years (range: 28 to 45 years), 7 cases of whom were diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, 1 case was diagnosed with coarctation of aorta. Operations were performed under mild hypothermic and branch-first technique. Firstly, the middle and small incision in the chest was combined with the 6th intercostal incision in the left posterior lateral side. Secondly, four branches artificial blood vessels were anastomosed with the brachiocephalic artery to ensure the blood supply to the brain. After the circulation was blocked, intracardiac and aortic proximal operations were performed. Intercostal artery reconstruction and thoracic descending aorta replacement were completed after opening circulation. Results: The operative time of this group was (645.9±91.7) minutes (range: 505 to 840 minutes). One case had cerebral infarction and 1 case had chylothorax. The patients were followed up 4 to 47 months, 1 patient underwent thoracic and abdominal aorta+iliac artery resection and replacement due to the progression of abdominal aortic aneurysm 3 months after operation. Intercostal artery obstruction occurred in 2 cases, and the rest lived well. Conclusions: One-stage whole thoracic aorta replacement with branch-first technique has satisfactory results in the short and medium term, with no risk of residual aortic aneurysm rupture. It is an effective treatment for young and organs function well patients with complex aortic lesions.

Abstract
Various studies showed that the effect of immune activation is pro-atherogenic and coronary heart disease (CHD) should therefore be considered an autoimmune disease. This study aimed to identify potential immune-related biomarkers, pathways, and the potential regulatory networks underlying CHD. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between CHD and control samples were determined by analyzing GSE71226 and GSE9128. The overlapping differential expression immune-related genes (DE-IRGs) for CHD were identified by analyzing the ImmPort database and two GEO databases. A total of 384 DE-IRGs were identified. Subsequently, comprehensive enrichment analyses suggested that DE-IRGs were enriched in immune-related pathways, including autoimmune thyroid disease, the intestinal immune network for IGA production, and downstream signaling events of B cell receptors. The signature of DE-IRGs was validated using an external independent dataset GSE20681 (AUC = 0.875). Furthermore, we conducted protein–protein interaction network analysis and identified eight hub genes, which were most enriched in regulation of defense response, NF-κB signaling pathway, regulation of JNK cascade, and regulation of cytokine production. Moreover, networks of miRNAs-mRNAs and transcription factors (TFs)-mRNA underlying the integrated data were established, involving eight miRNAs and 76 TF-targeting hub genes. Ultimately, 17 SNPs in miRNA-mediated gene networks were identified. We screened potential immune-related genes in CHD and constructed miRNA-mRNA-TF and SNP-miRNA networks, which not only provide inspired insights into the occurrence and the molecular mechanisms of CHD but also lay a foundation for targeting potential biomarkers using immunotherapy and for understanding the molecular mechanisms of CHD.

Abstract
Na-, K- and Mg-ion batteries (NIBs, KIBs and MIBs) have drawn considerable interest due to their high abundance and excellent safety. However, the lack of high-performance anode materials is a major obstacle to its development. A metallic SnB planar monolayer is predicted by using the two-dimensional global minimum structure search method of swarm intelligence. Based on first-principles calculations, we proved that the metal SnB monolayer has high binding energy and excellent dynamical, thermal and mechanical stability. It is worth noting that the SnB monolayer has several stable adsorption sites for Na-, K- and Mg-ions, so it has a high theoretical capacity of 620.93, 517.44 and 620.93 mA h g-1, respectively. For Na-, K- and Mg-ion batteries, the low diffusion barriers of the SnB monolayer are 0.22, 0.07 and 0.68 eV, and the low average open circuit voltages are 0.42, 0.49 and 0.23 V, which ensure long service life and fast charging in practical applications. In addition, it is proved that the SnB monolayer maintains excellent conductivity and stability during the charge-discharge process. The results show that the SnB monolayer offers innovative advantages for the development of new two-dimensional planar structures that further advance the development of anode materials for metal ion batteries.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Amino acid PET radiopharmaceutical, 18F-fluciclovine, shows increased uptake in brain tumors relative to normal tissue and may be a useful tool for detecting recurrent brain metastases. Here, we report results from a prospective pilot study evaluating the use of 18F-fluciclovine PET/CT to distinguish radiation necrosis from tumour progression among patients with brain metastases treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
Material and Methods
The primary objective was to estimate the accuracy of 18F-fluciclovine PET/CT in distinguishing radiation necrosis from tumour progression. The trial included adults with brain metastases who underwent SRS and presented with a follow up MRI brain (with DSC MR perfusion) which was equivocal for radiation necrosis versus tumour progression. Within 30 days of equivocal MRI brain, patients underwent an 18F-fluciclovine PET/CT (Siemens mCT) acquired 5-15 min post-injection with images generated by PSF reconstruction. Quantitative metrics for each lesion were documented and lesion to normal brain SUVmean ratios were calculated. The reference standard for diagnosis of radiation necrosis vs tumour progression was clinical follow up with MRI brain every 2-4 months until multidisciplinary consensus or tissue confirmation.
Results
Of 16 patients enrolled between 7/2019-11/2020, 1 patient died prior to diagnosis, allowing 15 evaluable subjects with 20 lesions. Primary histology was NSCLC in 9 (45%) lesions, breast in 7 (35%), melanoma in 3 (15%), and endometrial in 1 (5%). The final diagnosis was radiation necrosis in 16 (80%) lesions and tumour progression in 4 (20%). SUVmax was a statistically significant predictor of tumour progression (P = 0.011), with higher SUVmax values indicative of tumour progression. The area under the ROC curve was 0.833 (95% CI: 0.590, 1.0). A cutoff of 4.3 provided a sensitivity to identify tumour progression of 1.0 (4/4) and specificity to rule out tumour progression of 0.63 (10/16). SUVmean (P = 0.018), SUVpeak (P = 0.007), and SUVpeak/normal (P = 0.002) also reached statistical significance as predictors of tumour progression, with higher SUVmax values indicative of tumour progression. SUVmax/normal (P = 0.1) and SUVmean/normal (P = 0.5) were not statistically significant. The AUC for SUVmax was not significantly higher than the AUCs for the other quantitative variables (P-values > 0.2).
Conclusion
In this prospective pilot study, 18F Fluciclovine PET/CT demonstrated promising accuracy to distinguish radiation necrosis from tumour progression among patients with brain metastases previously treated with SRS. Using SUVmax, a cutpoint of 4.3 provided a sensitivity of 1.0 and specificity of 0.63. Confirmatory phase II and III studies are ongoing.

Abstract
Reliable measurements of calibration parameters are crucial for quantitative three-cube Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) measurements. Here we have developed a single-cell-based calibration method (SCC-FRET), which can simultaneously obtain spectral crosstalk correction parameters (β and δ) and calibration parameters (G and k) of a quantitative FRET system by imaging a cell expressing one kind of standard FRET plasmid with a known FRET efficiency (E) and the donor-to-acceptor concentration ratio (RC). We performed the SCC-FRET method on a three-cube FRET microscopy for the cells expressing C5V, and obtained β = 0.150 ± 0.000, δ = 0.610 ± 0.000, G = 2.840 ± 0.065, and k = 0.847 ± 0.013. These parameters were used to measure the E and RC values of C17V and C32V constructs in living cells and obtained EC17V = 0.382 ± 0.010 and EC32V = 0.311 ± 0.007, RC17V = 1.010 ± 0.023 and RC32V = 1.050 ± 0.022, consistent with the reported values, demonstrating the effectiveness of the the SCC-FRET method. We also performed the SCC-FRET method for the cells with different S/N levels (S/N > 10, 10 > S/N > 3, 3 > S/N > 1, respectively), and obtained consistent system calibration parameters under different S/N levels, indicating excellent robustness. SCC-FRET requires only imaging a cell expressing one kind of standard FRET plasmid for measuring all calibration parameters under identical imaging conditions, rendering the SCC-FRET method extremely convenient, accurate, and robust. The SCC-FRET provides strong support for expanding the biological application of quantitative FRET analysis in living cells.

Abstract
Whether for cancer diagnosis or single-cell analysis, it remains a major challenge to isolate the target sample cells from a large background cell for high-efficiency downstream detection and analysis in an integrated chip. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a 3D-stacked multistage inertial microfluidic sorting chip for high-throughput enrichment of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and convenient downstream analysis. In this chip, the first stage is a spiral channel with a trapezoidal cross-section, which has better separation performance than a spiral channel with a rectangular cross-section. The second and third stages adopt symmetrical square serpentine channels with different rectangular cross-section widths for further separation and enrichment of sample cells reducing the outlet flow rate for easier downstream detection and analysis. The multistage channel can separate 5 μm and 15 μm particles with a separation efficiency of 92.37% and purity of 98.10% at a high inlet flow rate of 1.3 mL/min. Meanwhile, it can separate tumor cells (SW480, A549, and Caki-1) from massive red blood cells (RBCs) with a separation efficiency of >80%, separation purity of >90%, and a concentration fold of ~20. The proposed work is aimed at providing a high-throughput sample processing system that can be easily integrated with flowing sample detection methods for rapid CTC analysis.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate the long-term effect of two different degrees of blue-light blocking (BB) spectacle lenses on adults’ contrast perception under various lighting conditions. Methods In total, 144 healthy adults aged 24.70 (±4.32 years) were recruited to this randomized controlled trial. The participants were randomly divided into three groups and used three different spectacle lenses (15% BB: 15% blue-blocking spectacle lenses; 30% BB: 30% blue-blocking spectacle lenses; RC: regular clear lenses serving as control). Contrast sensitivity under four light conditions (scotopic and photopic, both with/without glare) was measured using standard clinical tests at baseline, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months of use. The area under the log contrast sensitivity function (AULCSF) was also computed as an index for their overall contrast sensitivity across spatial frequencies. Results There was no significant difference in AULCSFs among the three types of spectacle lenses under any light condition (all P > 0.81). No statistical difference was found in the AULSCF among the four time points (all P > 0.39), with no interaction between the effects of group and time (all P > 0.42). Conclusion Wearing blue-light blocking lens had no clinically significant effect on adults’ long-term contrast perception under scotopic or photopic conditions, or with glare.

Abstract
A simple and practical strategy for intermolecular aminohalogenation of quinone with alkyl amines and NXS was developed, in which haloamines generated in situ were employed as bifunctional reagents. The reaction system is reliable, efficient and wide in substrate range, which is suitable for the two-fold aminochlorination of 1, 4-benzoquinones, large-scale reaction and late-stage modification of pharmaceuticals.

Abstract
Hydatidosis is an endemic disease causing a severe threat to public health. Drugs and surgery have been utilized for treatment, but their efficiency is not adequate. Therefore, new methods are required for treating such diseases. In this study, we attempt to evaluate the efficiency of radiotherapy for hydatidosis in sheep. The sheep naturally infected with pulmonary hydatid were randomly divided into four groups, including the control group subjected to no irradiation and the other three groups subjected to 30, 45, and 60 Gy irradiation, respectively. Gene expression of caspase-3 and gadd45a and protein expression of BCL-2 and BAX in the lung tissues were evaluated after treatment. Our data showed that the irradiation with a dose of 30, 45, and 60 Gy significantly induced the expression of caspase-3 and gadd45a. Immunohistochemical staining showed that the BCL-2 protein was downregulated after exposure to 45 Gy of irradiation, whereas the BAX expression was downregulated after irradiation at a dose of 45 and 60 Gy, respectively. On this basis, we speculated that 45 Gy might be a safe and effective dose for treating pulmonary hydatidosis in sheep, which induced lower expression of caspase-3 and gadd45a in the cyst and a downregulation of BCL-2 and BAX in the adjacent lung tissues.
