Abstract
Ovarian cancer (OC), the seventh most common cancer in women and the most lethal gynecological malignancy, is a significant global health challenge, with >324,000 new cases and >200,000 deaths being reported annually. OC is characterized by late-stage diagnosis, a poor prognosis, and 5-year survival rates ranging from 93% (early stage) to 20% (advanced stage). Despite advances in genomics and proteomics, effective early-stage diagnostic tools and population-wide screening strategies remain elusive, contributing to high mortality rates. The complex pathogenesis of OC involves diverse histological subtypes and genetic predispositions, including BRCA1/2 mutations; notably, a considerable proportion of OC cases have a hereditary component. Current diagnostic modalities, including imaging techniques (transvaginal ultrasound, computed/positron emission tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging) and biomarkers (CA-125 and human epididymis protein 4), with varying degrees of sensitivity and specificity, have limited efficacy in detecting early-stage OC. Emerging technologies, such as liquid biopsy, multiomics, and artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted diagnostics, may enhance early detection. Liquid biopsies using circulating tumor DNA and microRNAs are popular minimally invasive diagnostic tools. Integrated multiomics has advanced biomarker discovery. AI algorithms have improved imaging interpretation and risk prediction. Novel screening methods including organoids and multiplex panels are being explored to overcome current diagnostic limitations. This review highlights the critical need for continued research and innovation to enhance early diagnosis, reduce mortality, and improve patient outcomes in OC and posits personalized medicine, integrated emerging technologies, and targeted global initiatives and collaborative efforts, which address care access disparities and promote cost-effective, scalable screening strategies, as potential tools to combat OC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate intraoperative factors predicting appendiceal pathology during gynecologic oncology surgery for suspected mucinous ovarian neoplasms. METHODS We conducted a retrospective study on 225 patients with mucinous ovarian neoplasms who underwent surgery for an adnexal mass with concurrent appendectomy between 2000 and 2018. Regression analyses were used to evaluate intraoperative factors, such as frozen section of the ovarian mass and surgeon's impression of the appendix in predicting appendiceal pathology. RESULTS Most patients (77.8%) had a normal appendix on final pathology. Abnormal appendix cases (n = 26) included: metastasis from high-grade adenocarcinoma of the ovary (n = 1), neuroendocrine tumor of the appendix (n = 4), and low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (n = 26; 23 associated with a mucinous ovarian adenocarcinoma, 2 with a benign mucinous ovarian cystadenoma, and 1 with a borderline mucinous ovarian tumor). Combining normal intraoperative appearance of the appendix with benign or borderline frozen section yielded a negative predictive value of 85.1%, with 14.9% of patients being misclassified, and 6.0% having a neuroendocrine tumor or low-grade appendiceal neoplasm. CONCLUSION Benign or borderline frozen section of an ovarian mucinous neoplasm and normal appearing appendix have limited predictive value for appendiceal pathology. Appendectomy with removal of the mesoappendix should be considered in all cases of mucinous ovarian neoplasm, regardless of intraoperative findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mucinous epithelial ovarian cancer (mEOC) is a relatively uncommon subtype of ovarian cancer with special prognostic features, but there is insufficient research in this area. This study aimed to develop a nomogram for the cancer-specific survival (CSS) of mEOC based on Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and externally validate it in National Union of Real World Gynecological Oncology Research and Patient Management (NUWA) platform from China. METHODS Patients screened from SEER database were allocated into training and internal validation cohort in a ratio of 7: 3, with those from NUWA platform as an external validation cohort. Significant factors selected by Cox proportional hazard regression were applied to establish a nomogram for 3-year and 5-year CSS. The performance of nomogram was assessed by concordance index, calibration curves and Kaplan-Meier (K-M) curves. RESULTS The training cohort (n = 572) and internal validation cohort (n = 246) were filtered out from SEER database. The external validation cohort contained 186 patients. Baseline age, tumor stage, histopathological grade, lymph node metastasis and residual disease after primary surgery were significant risk factors (p < 0.05) and were included to develop the nomogram. The C-index of nomogram in training, internal validation and external validation cohort were 0.869 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.838-0.900), 0.839 (95% CI, 0.787-0.891) and 0.800 (95% CI, 0.738-0.862), respectively. The calibration curves of 3-year and 5-year CSS in each cohort showed favorable agreement between prediction and observation. K-M curves of different risk groups displayed great discrimination. CONCLUSION The discrimination and goodness of fit of the nomogram indicated its satisfactory predictive value for the CSS of mEOC in SEER database and external validation in China, which implies its potential application in different populations.

Abstract
Introduction Ovarian cancer (OC) is the leading cause of gynecological cancer-related death. Of the main OC histologic subtypes, invasive mucinous carcinomas (MC) account for only 3% of OC cases and are frequently associated with favorable prognosis. Nevertheless, MCs differ greatly from the other OC histotypes in clinical, pathological, and biological behavior. However, the origin and molecular pathogenesis of MC are not yet fully understood. Therefore, identification of novel diagnostic markers could potentially facilitate early diagnosis of OC, particularly the MC histotype, thereby leading to the development of histotype-specific treatment regimens and improved survival rates. Methods In the present study, Trefoil factor gene family members (TFF1, TFF2 and TFF3) were identified as MC histotype-specific biomarkers using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data for 95 stage I-II OCs. The diagnostic value of TFF1, TFF2 and TFF3 was then evaluated by immunohistochemistry on 206 stage I-II OCs stratified by histotype (high-grade serous carcinoma [HGSC], endometrioid carcinoma [EC], clear cell carcinoma [CCC], and MC). Results We showed significantly elevated intracytoplasmic protein expression levels for TFF1, TFF2 and TFF3 in MC samples, thereby revealing an association between expression of Trefoil factor gene family members and the MC histotype. Taken together, these findings suggest that the TFF proteins may play a pivotal role in tumor initiation and progression for the MC histotype. Moreover, these novel histotype-specific diagnostic biomarkers may not only improve patient stratification of early-stage ovarian carcinomas but may also be candidates for the development of molecular targeted therapies.

Abstract
Syed Abdul Mannan HamdaniObjective To evaluate the clinicopathological features and survival outcomes of mucinous ovarian cancer (MOC) patients in an Asian population. Study Design Descriptive observational study. Place and Duration of Study Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan, from January 2001 to December 2016. Methods Data of MOC were evaluated for demographics, tumor stage, clinical characteristics, tumor markers, treatment modalities, and outcomes from electronic Hospital Information System. Results Nine-hundred patients with primary ovarian cancer were reviewed, out of which 94 patients (10.4%) had MOC. The median age was 36 ± 12.4 years. The most common presentation was abdominal distension 51 (54.3%), while the rest presented with abdominal pain and irregular menstruation. Using FIGO (The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) staging, 72 (76.6%) had stage I, 3 (3.2%) stage II, stage III in 12 (12.8%), and 7 (7.4%) had stage IV disease. The majority of patients 75 (79.8%) had early-stage (stage I/II), while 19 (20.2%) presented with advanced-stage (III & IV). The median follow-up duration was 52 months (range 1-199 months). Among patients with early-stage (I&II), 3- and 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) was 95%, while for advanced stage (III&IV), PFS was 16% and 8%, respectively. The overall survival (OS) in early-stage I&II was 97%, while for advanced stages III & IV, the OS was 26%. Conclusion MOC is a challenging and rare subtype of ovarian cancer requiring special attention and recognition. Most patients treated at our center presented with early stages and had excellent outcomes, while advanced-stage disease had dismal results.

Abstract
Background Fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) has been widely used for patients with early-stage mucinous ovarian carcinoma (MOC). However, there is limited evidence regarding the reproductive outcomes as well as the impact of growth pattern on oncological outcomes after FSS. This study aims to evaluate the oncological and reproductive outcomes of patients with stage I primary MOC after FSS. Methods This retrospective study enrolled 159 women with histologically confirmed unilateral stage I MOC treated at Peking Union Medical College Hospital between 1997 and 2019. Sixty-seven cases were pathologically reviewed for the growth pattern. Seventy-eight patients had FSS, defined as conservation of the uterus and at least part of one ovary, while 81 underwent radical surgery (RS). Oncofertility outcomes were compared between the groups and clinicopathological factors associated with disease-free survival (DFS) were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analyses. Patients in the FSS group were contacted to collect data on reproductive outcomes. Results Eighteen patients developed recurrent disease during a median follow-up of 69 months, including 12 in the FSS and six in the RS group. There was one death each in the FSS and RS groups. There was no significant difference in DFS between the groups. CA125 >35 U/ml, stage IC, and incomplete staging were correlated with worse DFS according to multivariate analysis (P=0.001; 0.020 (stage IC) and 0.004 (incomplete staging) respectively). There was no significant difference in DFS between patients with stage IA and stage IC1 in the FSS group, while DFS was poorer in patients with stage IC2/3 than stage IA (P=0.028). In addition, DFS was significantly poorer in patients who underwent unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (USO) compared with those receiving USO plus staging surgery (P=0.015). There was a tendency towards poorer DFS in the infiltrative tumors compared with the expansile tumors (P=0.056). Of 23 patients who attempted to conceive, 21 (91.3%) achieved 27 pregnancies, including 26 spontaneous pregnancies and one following assisted reproductive technology. Twenty patients gave birth to 24 healthy babies, including 21 full-term and three premature births. The live-birth rate was 88.9%. Conclusions FSS is a suitable option for young women with unilateral stage I expansile MOC, with acceptable oncological outcomes and meaningful pregnancy rates. Re-staging should be proposed in patients who undergo incomplete staging surgery.

Abstract
Purpose Mucinous ovarian cancer (MOC) is a rare histological type of EOC. In order to guide the clinical diagnosis and management of MOC patients, we constructed and verified a nomogram for the estimation of overall survival in patients with MOC. Patients and Methods We collected 494 patients with MOC diagnosed from 2010 to 2015 in SEER database, and the following main inclusion criteria were used: (1) patients whose MOC was confirmed by pathology; (2) patients without a history of primary other cancer. Subsequently, we performed randomized grouping (6:4) and Cox hazard regression analysis in the training group. Subsequently, the nomogram was established. A variety of indicators were used to validate the prognosis value of nomogram, including the C-index, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Moreover, Kaplan–Meier analysis was used to compare the survival results among different risk subgroups. Results Cox hazard regression analysis revealed that age, grade, FIGO stage and log odds of positive lymph nodes stage were independent risk factors for patients with MOC. In the training group, the C-index of the nomogram was 0.827 (95% CI: 0.791–0.863) and the areas under the curve (AUC) predicting the 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rate were 0.853 (95% CI: 0.791–0.915), 0.886 (95% CI: 0.852–0.920) and 0.815 (95% CI: 0.766–0.864), respectively. The calibration curve revealed that the nomogram of the 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rate was consistent with the actual fact. Patients with high risk had a poorer prognosis than those with low risk (P < 0.001). DCA revealed that the nomogram had the best clinical value than other classical prognostic markers. Similarly, nomogram had excellent prognostic ability in the testing group. Conclusion The nomogram was constructed to predict overall survival in patients with MOC, which had the significance for clinical evaluation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common female cancer in the United States. There have been very few studies investigating mental health diagnoses among ovarian cancer survivors with long-term follow up. The aim of this study is to examine the incidence of mental illness among ovarian cancer survivors compared to a general population cohort. A secondary aim is to investigate risk factors for mental illnesses among ovarian cancer survivors. PATIENTS AND METHODS Cohorts of 1689 ovarian cancer patients diagnosed between 1996 and 2012 and 7038 women without cancer matched by age and birth state from the general population were identified. Mental health diagnoses were identified from electronic medical records and statewide healthcare facilities data. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs). RESULTS Ovarian cancer survivors experienced increased risks of mental illnesses within the first 2 years after cancer diagnosis (HR = 3.55, 95% CI = 3.04-4.14). The risks of depression among ovarian cancer survivors were nearly 3-fold within the first 2 years of cancer diagnosis (HR = 2.59, 95% CI = 1.94-3.47), and 1.69-fold at 2-5 years after cancer diagnosis (HR = 1.69, 95% CI = 1.18-2.42). Ovarian cancer survivors experienced an 80% increased risk of death with a mental illness diagnosis (HR = 1.80, 95% CI = 1.48-2.18) and a 94% increased risk of death with a depression diagnosis (HR = 1.94, 95% CI = 1.56-2.40). CONCLUSIONS Higher risks of mental illnesses were observed among ovarian cancer survivors throughout the follow-up periods of 0-2 years and 2-5 years after cancer diagnosis. Multidisciplinary care is needed to monitor and treat mental illnesses among ovarian cancer survivors.

Abstract
Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder (LSD). Mucinous ovarian cancer is a rare tumor and seldom encounters among adolescents. Here we describe an adolescent female with MPS type VI diagnosed with mucinous ovarian cancer. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of ovarian mucinous carcinoma in a patient with MPS. The association between MPS and cancer has never been described so far, but some LSD are known to have an increased risk of malignancies. The pathogenetic link between LSD and cancer is not well understood. Several potential mechanisms have been proposed for pathogenesis, which include chronic inflammation, abnormal function of activated macrophages, and genetic modifiers. Further studies are required, to understand the role of LSD in cancer.

Long term survival outcomes of stage I mucinous ovarian cancer - A clinical calculator predictive of chemotherapy benefit. Gynecol Oncol 2020; 159:118-128. Abstract
OBJECTIVES To determine the long-term potential benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy in subgroups of high-risk stage I mucinous ovarian cancer patients using a predictive scoring algorithm. METHODS Data were collected from the National Cancer Database from 2004 to 2014. Based on demographic and surgical characteristics, a novel 10-year survival prognostic scoring system was developed using Cox regression. RESULTS There were 2041 eligible patients with stage I mucinous ovarian cancer including 1362 (67%) with stage IA/IB disease, 598 (29%) with stage IC disease, and 81 (4%) with stage I disease not otherwise specified. Median age was 52 with a range of 13-90 years old. 737 (36%) patients were treated with adjuvant chemotherapy. Adjuvant chemotherapy was more common in patients with stage IC relative to stage IA/IB disease (69% vs. 21%, P < 0.001) or with poorly-differentiated relative to well-differentiated tumors (69% vs. 23%, P < 0.001). Unadjusted 10-year survival was 81% relative to 79% for patients treated with vs. without chemotherapy, respectively (P = 0.46). Patients were predicted to exhibit a low- or a high-risk of death using a multivariate Cox regression model with age, stage, grade, lymphovascular space invasion and ascites. Risk of death without vs. with adjuvant chemotherapy was similar in low-risk patients (88% vs. 84%; HR = 0.80, 95%CI = 0.56-1.15, P = 0.23) and worse in high-risk patients (51% vs. 74%; HR = 1.58, 95%CI: 1.05-2.38, P = 0.03) with stage I mucinous ovarian cancer. CONCLUSIONS A predictive scoring algorithm may provide prognostic information on long-term survival and identify high-risk stage I mucinous ovarian cancer patients who might achieve a survival benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy.

Abstract
Triptolide (TPL) is proposed as an effective anticancer agent known for its anti-proliferation of a variety of cancer cells including ovarian cancer cells. Although some studies have been conducted, the mechanism by which TPL acts on ovarian cancer remains to be clearly described. Herein, systematic work based on bioinformatics was carried out to discover the potential targets of TPL in SKOV-3 cells. TPL induces the early apoptosis of SKOV-3 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner with an IC50 = 40 ± 0.89 nM when cells are incubated for 48 h. Moreover, 20 nM TPL significantly promotes early apoptosis at a rate of 40.73%. Using a self-designed inverse molecular docking protocol, we fish the top 19 probable targets of TPL from the target library, which was built on 2,250 proteins extracted from the Protein Data Bank. The 2D-DIGE assay reveals that the expression of eight genes is affected by TPL. The results of western blotting and qRT-PCR assay suggest that 40 nM of TPL up-regulates the level of Annexin A5 (6.34 ± 0.07 fold) and ATP syn thase (4.08 ± 0.08 fold) and down-regulates the level of β-Tubulin (0.11 ± 0.12 fold) and HSP90 (0.21 ± 0.09 fold). More details of TPL affecting on Annexin A5 signaling pathway will be discovered in the future. Our results define some potential targets of TPL, with the hope that this agent could be used as therapy for the preclinical treatment of ovarian cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate factors associated with survival of patients with advanced stage mucinous ovarian carcinoma (MOC) using a large multi-institutional database. METHODS Patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2014 with advanced stage (III-IV) MOC were identified within the National Cancer Database. Those without a personal history of another primary tumor who received cancer-directed surgery with a curative intent were selected for further analysis. Overall survival (OS) was evaluated with Kaplan-Meier curves, and compared with the log-rank test. Multivariate Cox analysis was performed to identify independent predictors of survival. RESULTS A total of 1509 patients with a median age of 59 years (IQR 20) met the inclusion criteria: stage III (n = 1045, 69.3%) and stage IV disease (n = 464, 30.7%). Patients who received chemotherapy (n = 1065, 70.6%) had better OS compared to those who did not (n = 385, 25.5%), (median OS 15.44 vs 5.06 months, p < 0.001). The type of reporting facility (p = 0.65) and the year of diagnosis (p = 0.27) were not associated with OS. Presence of residual disease was strongly associated with OS (p < 0.001). After controlling for confounders, the administration of chemotherapy (HR 0.63, 95% CI 0.55, 0.72) was associated with better survival. CONCLUSION Advanced stage MOC has an extremely poor prognosis. Patients who received chemotherapy had a small improvement in survival. Every effort to achieve complete gross resection should be performed. Given no improvement in survival outcomes over time, there is an eminent need for novel treatment options.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe how population-based statistics for rare epithelial ovarian cancers are evolving. METHODS This is a retrospective observational study examining the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program from 1988 to 2016. Overall survival (OS) of clear cell (OCCC), mucinous (MOC), and low-grade serous (LGSOC) ovarian cancers were compared to high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) by fitting a propensity score matching. RESULTS Among 113,365 ovarian malignancies, 5780 OCCCs (5.1%), 7561 MOCs (6.7%), and 2021 LGSOCs (1.8%) were compared to 38,199 HGSOCs. OCCCs and MOCs were more likely to be diagnosed with stage I disease compared to HGSOC (57.0-59.5% versus 8.6%, P<0.001). For early-stage disease, OCCC (hazard ratio [HR] 0.91, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.82-1.01) and MOC (HR 0.94, 95%CI 0.85-1.04) had similar OS to HGSOC whereas LGSOC had superior OS (HR 0.93, 95%CI 0.89-0.97) versus HGSOC. Conversely, for advanced-stage disease, OCCC (HR 1.42, 95%CI 1.32-1.53) and MOC (HR 1.11, 95%CI 1.09-1.13) had poorer OS whereas LGSOC (HR 0.86, 95%CI 0.84-0.89) had superior OS compared to HGSOC. OCCC (HR range, 1.92-2.45) and MOC (HR range, 1.73-2.22) had particularly poorer OS in the first three years following diagnosis compared to HGSOC. Population-level statistics for advanced-stage disease showed that 5-year OS rates have increased in HGSOC (16.9% to 36.8%, P<0.001) and LGSOC (50.8% to 66.4%, P=0.010); but remain unchanged for OCCC (21.0% to 28.2%, P=0.174) and MOC (21.4% to 16.5%, P=0.102). CONCLUSION OCCC, MOC, and LGSOC comprise 2-7% of ovarian malignancies, have distinct characteristics and survival compared to HGSOC. While these rare tumors have a favorable to comparable prognosis in early-stage disease, disproportionally poor survival in advanced-stage OCCC and MOC highlights the need for further research into novel treatment strategies.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to explore the effects of interferon-γ inducible protein 10 (IP10) and complementarity-determining region 3 (CDR3) of T cells receptor on ovarian cancer cells and the involved mechanisms. METHODS IP10 and CDR3 were linked with single-chain antibody (scfv) and exotoxin gene muton of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PE40) to construct IP10-CDR3scfv and IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv. Then, we constructed pcDNA3.1-IP10-CDR3scfv and pcDNA3.1-IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv plasmids which were proved by HindIII/EcoRI digestion. SKOV3 cells and HOSEpiC cells were incubated with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) labeled IP10-CDR3scfv and IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv proteins and protein levels were examined by flow cytometry. After gene transfection, SKOV3 cells were divided into four groups: Control, pcDNA3.1(+) negative control (NC) (pcDNA3.1(+) NC transfection), IP10-CDR3scfv (IP10-CDR3scfv transfection) and IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv (IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv transfection). Levels of IP10, CDR3, Caspase-3, cleaved Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 were determined by RT-PCR and Western blot. Cell viability and apoptosis were investigated by CCK-8 assay and Annexin V-FITC/PI assay, respectively. RESULTS The levels of FITC-labeled IP10-CDR3scfv and IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv proteins in the SKOV3+IP10-CDR3scfv group and the SKOV3+IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv group were remarkably higher than that in the SKOV3 group (P<0.05). So was the HOSEpiC related groups. There was no obvious difference in the levels of IP10, CDR3, Caspase-3, cleaved Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 between the control group and the pcDNA3.1(+) NC group. However, compared with the control group, the levels of Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 were reduced notably and the levels of IP10, CDR3 and cleaved Caspase-3 were elevated sharply in the IP10-CDR3scfv and IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv groups (P<0.05). The control group and the pcDNA3.1(+) NC group demonstrated similar cell viability and apoptosis. However, compared with the control group, cell viability in the IP10-CDR3scfv and IP10-CDR3-PE40scfv groups decreased significantly and cell apoptosis increased (P<0.05). CONCLUSION IP10-CDR3 could reduce the viability and induce the apoptosis of ovarian cancer cells by down-regulating the expression of Bcl-2 and Caspase-3.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the association between postoperative chemotherapy and survival of women with stage IC mucinous ovarian cancer (MOC). METHODS Comprehensive nationwide tumor registry data from the Commission on Cancer-accredited facilities in the United States from 2004 to 2014 were retrospectively examined. Women with stage IC MOC who underwent primary surgery followed by postoperative chemotherapy were compared to those who did not receive. Clinico-pathological factors associated with chemotherapy use, and overall survival associated with chemotherapy use were examined with multivariable models and propensity score inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW). External validation was performed by examining the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program from 1988 to 2014. RESULTS There were 532 (58.5%) women who received postoperative chemotherapy and 377 (41.5%) women who did not. On multivariable analysis, those with moderately-/poorly-differentiated tumors, large tumor size, and who underwent lymphadenectomy were more likely to receive postoperative chemotherapy whereas young women and those with capsule rupture alone were less likely to receive postoperative chemotherapy (all, P < 0.05). After IPTW, there was no difference in overall survival among women who received postoperative chemotherapy versus those who did not on multivariable analysis (adjusted 4-year rates: 85.8% versus 86.3%, adjusted-hazard ratio [HR] 0.88, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.60-1.31). Similarly, there was no benefit with chemotherapy regardless of patient age, tumor differentiation, performance of nodal dissection, and substage groups. Among 912 cases in the validation cohort (postoperative chemotherapy use, n = 520 [57.0%]), postoperative chemotherapy use was not associated with cause-specific survival (adjusted-HR 1.296, 95% CI 0.846-1.984, P = 0.233) or overall survival (adjusted-HR 1.131, 95% CI 0.849-1.508, P = 0.400). CONCLUSION Postoperative chemotherapy was received by fewer than 60% of women with stage IC MOC, and postoperative chemotherapy was not associated with improved survival.

Abstract
Ovarian mucinous tumors represent a group of rare neoplasms with a still undefined cell of origin but with an apparent progression from benign to borderline to carcinoma. Even though these tumors are different from the other histological subtypes of epithelial ovarian neoplasms, they are still treated with a similar chemotherapeutic approach. Here, we review its pathogenesis, molecular alterations, (differential) diagnosis, clinical presentation and current treatment, and how recent molecular and biological information on this tumor might lead to better and more specific clinical management of patients with mucinous ovarian carcinoma.
