Abstract
In order to study the effects of silylene ligands on the catalytic activity of carbonyl hydrosilylation catalyzed by cobalt phosphine complexes, readily available model catalysts are required. In this contribution, a comparative study of the hydrosilylation of aldehydes and ketones catalyzed by tris(trimethylphosphine) cobalt chloride, CoCl(PMe3)3 (1), and bis(silylene) cobalt chloride, Co(LSi:)2(PMe3)2Cl (2, LSi: = {PhC(NtBu)2}SiCl), is presented. It was found that both complexes 1 and 2 are good catalysts for the hydrosilylation of aldehydes and ketones under mild conditions. This catalytic system has a broad substrate scope and selectivity for multi-functional substrates. Silylene complex 2 shows higher activity than complex 1, bearing phosphine ligands, for aldehydes, but conversely, for ketones, the activity of complex 1 is higher than that of complex 2. It is worth noting that in the process of mechanistic studies the intermediates (PMe3)3Co(H)(Cl)(PhH2Si) (3) and (LSi:)2(PMe3)Co(H)(Cl)(PhH2Si) (4) were isolated from the stoichiometric reactions of 1 and 2 with phenylsilane, respectively. Further experiments confirmed that complex 3 is a real intermediate. A possible catalytic mechanism for the hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds catalyzed by 1 was proposed based on the experimental investigation and literature reports, and this mechanism was further supported by DFT studies. The bis(silylene) complex 4 showed complicated behavior in solution. A series of experiments were designed to study the catalytic mechanism for the hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds catalyzed by complex 2. According to the experimental results, the hydrosilylation of aldehydes catalyzed by 1 proceeds via a different mechanism than that of the analogous reaction with complex 2 as the catalyst. In the case of ketones, complex 4 is a real intermediate, indicating that both 1 and 2 catalyze the reaction by the same mechanism. The molecular structures of 3 and 4 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
Single-atom catalysts have become a popular choice in various catalysis applications, as they take advantages of both homogeneous catalysis (e.g., high efficiency) and heterogeneous catalysis (e.g., easy catalyst recovery). The atom support plays an indispensable role in anchoring atomic species and interplaying with them for ultimate catalytic performance. Therefore, development of new support materials for superior catalysis is of great importance. Here the synthesis of carbon nanofibers based on the reaction between phosphorus pentoxide (P2 O5 ) and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is reported. The underlying reaction process is systematically investigated by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The carbon nanofibers have interesting PN units in their chemical structure, which act as anchoring sites for the single-atom catalyst. The Pt atoms anchoring carbon nanofibers exhibit high activity for hydrosilylation with a turnover frequency (TOF) of 9.2 × 106 h-1 and a selectivity of >99%. This research affords not only a new in situ chemical strategy to synthesize multiatom doped carbon nanofibers but also presents a potential superior support in catalysis, which opens a hopeful window in materials chemistry and catalysis applications.

Abstract
The base-free carbazolyl bromosilylene RSiBr (R = 1,8-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-phenyl)-3,6-di-tert-butyl-carbazolyl) reacts with (η2-C2H4)Pt(PPh3)2 and Pt(PCy3)2 to form platinasilacyclobutane R(Br)Si(C2H4)Pt(PPh3)2 (1) and silylene platinum complex R(Br)SiPt(PCy3)2 (2), respectively. When silylene complex 2 is treated with C2H4, the six-membered metallasilacycle R(Br)Si(C2H4)2Pt(PCy3)2 (3) is obtained. All compounds are characterised by XRD and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy.

Abstract
A family of germyl rhodium complexes derived from the PGeP germylene 2,2’‐bis(di‐isopropylphosphanylmethyl)‐5,5’‐dimethyldipyrromethane‐1,1’‐diylgermanium(II), Ge(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2 (1), has been prepared. Germylene 1 reacted readily with [RhCl(PPh3)3] and [RhCl(cod)(PPh3)] (cod=1,5‐cyclooctadiene) to give, in both cases, the PGeP‐pincer chloridogermyl rhodium(I) derivative [Rh{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeCl(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}(PPh3)] (2). Similarly, the reaction of 1 with [RhCl(cod)(MeCN)] afforded [Rh{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeCl(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}(MeCN)] (3). The methoxidogermyl and methylgermyl rhodium(I) complexes [Rh{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeR(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}(PPh3)] (R=OMe, 4; Me, 5) were prepared by treating complex 2 with LiOMe and LiMe, respectively. Complex 5 readily reacted with CO to give the carbonyl rhodium(I) derivative [Rh{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeR(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}(CO)] (6), with HCl, HSnPh3 and Ph2S2 rendering the pentacoordinate methylgermyl rhodium(III) complexes [RhHX{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeMe(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}] (X=Cl, 7; SnPh3, 8) and [Rh(SPh)2{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeMe(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}] (9), respectively, and with H2 to give the hexacoordinate derivative [RhH2{κ3P,Ge,P‐GeMe(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}(PPh3)] (10). Complexes 3 and 5 are catalyst precursors for the hydroboration of styrene, 4‐vinyltoluene and 4‐vinylfluorobenzene with catecholborane under mild conditions.

Abstract
The reactivity of ferrocene‐based N‐heterocyclic tetrylenes [{Fe(η5−C5H4−NSitBuMe2)2}E] (E=Ge, Sn, Pb) towards mesityl azide (MesN3) is compared with that of PPh2‐functionalised congeners exhibiting two possible reaction sites, namely the EII and PIII atom. For E=Ge and Sn the reaction occurs at the EII atom, leading to the formation of N2 and an EIV=NMes unit. The germanimines are sufficiently stable for isolation. The stannanimines furnish follow‐up products, either by [2+3] cycloaddition with MesN3 or, in the PPh2‐substituted case, by NMes transfer from the SnIV to the PIII atom. Whereas [{Fe(η5−C5H4−NSitBuMe2)2}Pb] and other diaminoplumbylenes studied are inert even under forcing conditions, the PPh2‐substituted congener forms an addition product with MesN3, thus showing a behaviour similar to that of frustrated Lewis pairs. The germylenes of this study afford copper(I) complexes with CuCl, including the first structurally characterised linear dicoordinate halogenido complex [CuX(L)] with a heavier tetrylene ligand L.

Abstract
2-Ditertbutylphosphanylmethylpyrrole (H2pyrmPtBu2) and 2,2'-bis(diisopropylphosphanylmethyl)-5,5'-dimethyldipyrromethane ((HpyrmPiPr2)2CMe2) have been used to synthesize new P-donor-stabilized stannylenes in which the Sn atom is attached to one, SnCl(HpyrmPtBu2) (1) and Sn{N(SiMe3)2}(HpyrmPtBu2) (2), or two pyrrolyl-phosphane scaffolds, Sn(HpyrmPtBu2)2 (3), or to a dipyrromethane-diphosphane scaffold, Sn(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2 (4). It has been found that stannylenes 3 and 4 are excellent precursors to transition metal complexes containing PSnP pincer-type ligands. Their reactions with chlorido transition metal complexes have afforded [PdCl{κ3P,Sn,P-SnCl(HpyrmPtBu2)2}] (6), [PdCl{κ3P,Sn,P-SnCl(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}] (7) and [Au{κ3P,Sn,P-SnCl(HpyrmPtBu2)2}] (8), which contain a PSnP pincer-type chloridostannyl ligand. While complexes 6 and 7 are square-planar palladium(II) complexes, compound 8 is an uncommon gold(I) complex having a T-shaped coordination geometry with a very long Sn-Au bond (3.120 Å). The T-shaped palladium(0) complex [Pd{κ3P,Sn,P-Sn(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}] (9), which contains an unprecedented PSnP pincer-type stannylene that behaves as a Z-type (σ-acceptor) ligand, has been prepared from 4 and [Pd(η3-C3H5)(η5-C5H5)].

Abstract
The hydrosilylation reaction is one of the largest-scale applications of homogeneous catalysis, and Pt homogeneous catalysts have been widely used in this reaction for the commercial manufacture of silicon products. However, homogeneous Pt catalysts result in considerable problems, such as undesired side reactions, unacceptable catalyst residues and disposable platinum consumption. Here, we synthesized electron-deficient Pt single atoms supported on humic matter (Pt1 @AHA_U_400), and the catalyst was used in hydrosilylation reactions, which showed super activity (turnover frequency as high as 3.0×107 h-1 ) and selectivity (>99 %). Density functional theory calculations reveal that the high performance of the catalyst results from the atomic dispersion of Pt and the electron deficiency of the Pt1 atoms, which is different from conventional Pt nanoscale catalysts. Excellent performance is maintained during recycle experiments, indicating the high stability of the catalyst.

Abstract
The facile synthesis of the first bis-N-heterocyclic imine-stabilized chlorosilyliumylidene 1 is reported. Remarkably, consecutive reaction of 1 with PPh3 AuCl and K2 Fe(CO)4 gives rise to the unique heterobimetallic complex 1,2-(Mes NHI)2 -C2 H4 -ClSiAuFe(CO)4 (4). The overall neutral complex 4 bears an unusual linear Si-Au-Fe structure and a rare anagostic interaction between the d10 -configured gold atom and a CH bond of the mesityl ligand. According to the computational analysis and 57 Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, the formal Fe-oxidation state remains at -II. Thus, the electronic structure of 4 is best described as an overall neutral-yet zwitterionic-heterobimetallic "Si(II)+ -Au(I)+ -Fe(-II)2- "-silyliumylidene complex, derived from double anion exchange. The computational analysis indicates strong hyperconjugative back donation from the gold(I) atom to the silyliumylidene ligand.

Abstract
This article intends to highlight and comprehensively summarize the recent developments in the field of silylene-coinage metal chemistry. Recent years have witnessed exponential growth in the utilization of N-heterocyclic silylenes as ligands in transition metal chemistry. Still, silylene-coinage metal complexes have only started to appear very recently. Particular attention is focused on the synthetic approaches to silylene-coinage metal complexes and their unusual properties derived from the spectroscopic and crystallographic data. Recent studies have demonstrated that silylene-coinage metal complexes exhibit catalytic efficiency towards hydrosilylation, copper-catalyzed alkyne azide cycloaddition (CuAAC), and glycosidation reactions. Although the chemistry of silylene-coinage metal complexes has only begun to blossom, these findings justify the need for a review at this stage of development. This article will summarize the previous work on silylene-coinage metal complexes followed by recent advances and conclude with future possibilities.

Abstract
This work describes the synthesis and coordination behavior of a new mixed-donor ligand PhC(NtBu)2 SiC6 H4 PPh2 (1) containing both silylene and phosphine donor sites. Ligand 1 was synthesized from a reaction of ortho-lithiated diphenylphosphinobenzene (LiC6 H4 PPh2 ) with chlorosilylene (PhC(NtBu)2 SiCl). Treatment of 1 with Se and GeCl2 resulted in SiIV compounds 2 and 3 by selective oxidation of the silylene donor. This strong σ-donor ligand induces dissociation of CuCl and PhBCl2 leading to formation of ionic complexes 4 and 5 respectively. The reaction of 1 with ZnCl2 and AlCl3 resulted in the formation of chelate complexes 5 and 7, respectively, while treatment with EtAlCl2 and GaCl3 forms monodentate complexes 8 and 9. X-ray analysis of 4 showed that the copper is in the spiro center of the two five-membered rings. Moreover, the copper(I)chloride has not been oxidized but dissociates to Cu+ and [CuCl2 ]- . All the compounds are well characterized by mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

Abstract
A cyclic (amino)metal-substituted dicoordinated silylene derivative has been synthesized and fully characterized. Of particular interest is that the N-hetero-RhI -metallacyclic silylene exhibits a distorted tetrahedral geometry around the rhodium atom and a considerably shortened Si-Rh bond (2.138 Å) compared to classical Si-Rh single bonds (ca. 2.30-2.35 Å). A theoretical investigation reveals that the geometrical deviation around the rhodium center from the classical square-planar to a tetrahedral geometry increases the π-donating and σ-accepting character of the rhodium atom, thereby efficiently stabilizing the silylene moiety.

Abstract
While numerous single atoms stabilized by support surfaces have been reported, the synthesis of in-situ reduced discrete metal atoms weakly coordinated and stabilized in liquid media is a more challenging goal. We report the genesis of mononuclear electron deficient Pt1(0) by reducing H2PtCl6 in liquid polydimethylsiloxane-polyethylene glycol (PDMS-PEG) (Pt1@PDMS-PEG). UV-Vis, far-IR, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies evidence the reduction of H2PtCl6. CO infrared, and 195Pt and 13C NMR spectroscopies provide strong evidence of Pt1(0), existing as a pseudo-octahedral structure of (R1OR2)2Pt(0)Cl2H2 (R1 and R2 are H, C, or Si groups accordingly). The weakly coordinated (R1OR2)2Pt(0)Cl2H2 structure and electron deficient Pt1(0) have been validated by comparing experimental and DFT calculated 195Pt NMR spectra. The H+ in protic state and the Cl- together resemble HCl as the weak coordination. Neutralization by a base causes the formation of Pt nanoparticles. The Pt1@PDMS-PEG shows ultrahigh activity in olefin hydrosilylation with excellent terminal adducts selectivity.

Abstract
N-Heterocycle-substituted silyl iron complexes have been synthesized by nucleophilic substitution at trichlorosilyl ligands bound to iron. The homoleptic (tripyrrolyl)- and tris(3-methylindolyl)silyl groups were accessed from (Cl3Si)CpFe(CO)2 (Cl3SiFp) by substitution of chloride with pyrrolide or 3-methylindolide, respectively. Analogously, nucleophilic substitution of Cl with pyrrolide on the anionic Fe(0) synthon Cl3SiFe(CO)4 - generates the (tripyrrolyl)silyl ligand, bound to the iron tetracarbonyl fragment. The bulkier 2-mesitylpyrrolide substitutes a maximum of 2 chlorides on Cl3SiFp under the same conditions. The tridentate, trianionic nucleophile tmim (tmimH3 = tris(3-methylindol-2-yl)methane) proves reluctant to perform the substitution in a straightforward manner; instead, ring-opening and incorporation of THF occurs to form the tris-THF adduct tmim(C4H8O)3SiFe(CO)4 -. The bidentate, monoanionic nucleophile 2-(dipp-iminomethyl)pyrrolide (DippIMP, dipp = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl) shows chloride displacement and addition of a second DippIMP moiety on the imine backbone. The heterocycle-based silyl ligands were shown to be sterically and electronically tunable, moderately electron-donating ligands. The presented approach to new silyl ligands avoids strongly reducing conditions and potentially reactive hydrosilane intermediates.

Abstract
A computationally guided synthetic route to a free silanide derived from tris(3-methylindol-2-yl)methane ([(tmim)Si]- ) through nucleophilic substitution on the SiII precursor (Idipp)SiCl2 is reported (Idipp=2,3-dihydro-1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1H-imidazol-2-ylidene). This approach circumvents the need for strained tetrahedral silanes as synthetic intermediates. Computational investigations show that the electron-donating properties of [(tmim)Si]- are close to those of PMe3. Experimentally, the [(tmim)Si]- anion is shown to undergo clean complexation to the base metal salts CuCl and FeCl2 , demonstrating the potential utility as a supporting ligand.

Abstract
Electropositive boron-based substituent (phosphonium bora-ylide) with an exceptionally strong π- and σ-electron donating character dramatically increases the stability of a new type of N-heterocyclic silylene 2 featuring amino- and bora-ylide-substituents. Moreover, the related silylium ion 4 and transition-metal-silylene complexes, with trigonal-planar geometries around the silicon center, are also well stabilized. Therefore, the N,B-heterocyclic silylene 2 can be used as a strongly electron-donating innocent ligand in coordination chemistry similarly to N-heterocyclic carbenes.

Abstract
An isolable donor-stabilized silavinylidene phosphorane was synthesized. This molecule, which can also be regarded as a new carbon(0) complex featuring a phosphine and a donor-stabilized silylene ligand, presents a central carbon atom with a remarkably high electron density (-1.82). Furthermore, the experimental electron-density study of this compound demonstrates the delocalization of the σ-lone pair at the central carbon atom toward the silicon center, a feature which is remarkably different from electronic situation of other bent-allene-type molecules. This result clearly demonstrates the powerful electron-donating ability of donor-stabilized silylene ligands, as well as their excellent electron-acceptor properties.
