Abstract
Cyclopropylamines are an important subclass of substituted cyclopropanes that combine the unique electronic and steric properties of cyclopropanes with the presence of a donor nitrogen atom. In addition to their presence in a diverse array of biologically active compounds, cyclopropylamines are utilized as important synthetic intermediates, particularly in ring-opening or cycloaddition reactions. Consequently, the synthesis of these compounds has constituted a significant research topic, as evidenced by the abundant published synthetic methods. In addition to the widely used Curtius rearrangement, classical cyclopropanation methods have been adapted to integrate a nitrogen function (Simmons-Smith reaction, metal-catalyzed reaction of diazo compounds on olefins, Michael-initiated ring-closure reactions) with significant advances in enantioselective synthesis. More recently, specific methods have been developed for the preparation of the aminocyclopropane moiety (Kulinkovich reactions applied to amides and nitriles, addition to cyclopropenes, metal-catalyzed reactions involving C-H functionalization, ...). The topic of this review is to present the different methods for the preparation of cyclopropylamine derivatives, with the aim of covering the methodological advances as best as possible, highlighting their scope, their stereochemical aspects and future trends.

Abstract
Toward a selective and facile method for the synthesis of CF3-containing pyrazolo[1,5-c]quinazolines, we developed a [3 + 2] cycloaddition/1,3-H shift/rearrangement/dehydrogenation cascade involving in situ generated CF3CHN2 and 3-ylideneoxindoles with DBU as a base. The reaction is distinguished by its mild conditions, metal-free process, operational simplicity, and broad functional group tolerance, thus presenting a convenient protocol for the construction of pyrazolo[1,5-c]quinazolines that are of interest in medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
A catalytic radical process has been developed for asymmetric cyclopropanation of dehydroaminocarboxylates with in situ-generated α-aryldiazomethanes via Co(II)-based metalloradical catalysis (MRC). Through fine-tuning the environments of D 2-symmetric chiral amidoporphyrin platform as the supporting ligands, the Co(II)-metalloradical system can effectively activate various α-aryldiazomethanes to cyclopropanate different dehydroaminocarboxylates under mild conditions, enabling the stereoselective synthesis of chiral cyclopropyl α-amino acid derivatives. In addition to high yields and excellent enantioselectivities, the Co(II)-catalyzed asymmetric radical cyclopropanation exhibits (Z)-diastereoselectivity, which is the opposite of uncatalyzed thermal reaction. Combined computational and experimental studies support a stepwise radical mechanism for the Co(II)-catalyzed cyclopropanation reaction. The resulting enantioenriched (Z)-α-amino-β-arylcyclopropanecarboxylates, as showcased for the efficient synthesis of dipeptides, may serve as unique non-proteinogenic amino acid building blocks for the design and preparation of novel peptides with restricted conformations.

Abstract
A one-pot synthesis of 1,3-diyne-tethered trifluoromethylcyclopropanes starting from 2-CF3-3,5-diyne-1-enes and sulfur ylides via a sulfur ylide mediated cyclopropanation and a DBU-mediated epimerization sequence is described in this work. This process is highly diastereoselective with broad substrate scope. Moreover, a series of synthetic transformations based on the diyne moieties were conducted smoothly, affording cyclopropanes featuring trifluoromethyl-substituted all-carbon quaternary centers.

Abstract
A general method for the construction of trifluoromethylated 2-quinolinones has been established herein by using a trifluoromethylative ring expansion of isatin with trifluorodiazoethane. The strategy provides a platform for the rapid synthesis of a wide range of substituted 3-hydroxy-4-trifluoromethyl-2-quinolinones. This operationally simple and robust Ag-catalyzed protocol successfully transforms isatin ketimines to 3-amino-4-trifluoromethylquinolinones in excellent yields. The utility of this novel method is further illustrated by the conversion of the products into various synthetically and medicinally relevant molecules.

Abstract
A novel Brønsted base system for the diastereoselective dimerization of azlactones using trichloroacetate salts and acetonitrile has been developed. Desired products were obtained in good yields (60-93%) and with up to >19:1 dr after one hour of reaction. Additionally, the relative stereochemistry of the major dimer was assigned as being trans, by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The kinetic reaction profile was determined by using 1H NMR reaction monitoring and revealed a second order overall kinetic profile. Furthermore, by employing this methodology, a diastereoselective total synthesis of a functionalized analogue of streptopyrrolidine was accomplished in 65% overall yield.

Abstract
We report an efficient strategy for the asymmetric synthesis of trifluoromethyl-substituted cyclopropanes by means of myoglobin-catalyzed olefin cyclopropanation reactions in the presence of 2-diazo-1,1,1-trifluoroethane (CF3CHN2) as the carbene donor. These transformations were realized using a two-compartment setup in which ex situ generated gaseous CF3CHN2 is processed by engineered myoglobin catalysts expressed in bacterial cells. This approach was successfully applied to afford a variety of trans-1-trifluoromethyl-2-arylcyclopropanes in high yields (61-99%) and excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivity (97-99.9% de and ee). Furthermore, mirror-image forms of these products could be obtained using myoglobin variants featuring stereodivergent selectivity. These reactions provide a convenient and effective biocatalytic route to the stereoselective synthesis of key fluorinated building blocks of high value for medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. This work expands the range of carbene-mediated transformations accessible via metalloprotein catalysts and introduces a potentially general strategy for exploiting gaseous and/or hard-to-handle carbene donor reagents in biocatalytic carbene transfer reactions.

Abstract
A novel continuous-flow approach for the synthesis of fluoroalkyl-substituted diazomethanes has been developed. Utilizing a cheap, self-made microreactor fluoroalkyl-substituted amines were transformed into the corresponding diazomethanes using tert-butyl nitrite and acetic acid as catalyst. These diazomethanes were employed in [2+3] cycloaddition reactions with olefins and alkynes, yielding valuable pyrazolines and pyrazoles in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
Azlactones (also known as oxazolones) are heterocycles usually employed in the stereoselective synthesis of α,α-amino acids, heterocycles and natural products. The versatility of the azlactone scaffold arises from the numerous reactive sites, allowing its application in a diversity of transformations. This review aims to cover classical and recent applications of oxazolones, especially those involving stereoselective processes. After a short introduction on their structures and intrinsic reactivities, dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) processes as well as reactions involving stereoselective formation of a new σ C-C bond, such as alkylation/allylation/arylation, aldol, ene, Michael and Mannich reactions will be exposed. Additionally, cycloadditions, Steglich rearrangement and sulfenylation reactions will also be discussed. Recent developments of the well-known Erlenmeyer azlactones will be described. For the most examples, the proposed mechanism, activation modes and/or key reaction intermediates will be exposed to rationalize both the final product and the observed stereochemistry. Finally, this review gives an overview of the synthetic utility of oxazolones.

Abstract
A continuous process for the synthesis and inline separation of anhydrous trifluoromethyl diazomethane in a single continuous flow process is presented. The diazo building block is generated from the corresponding amine and NaNO2 under acidic, aqueous conditions and subsequently diffuses through a gas-permeable membrane into an organic stream. To avoid storage and transportation of the hazardous compound, a representative downstream process in a packed-bed reactor yielding highly functionalized building blocks was developed.
