Abstract
Three isomeric Zn(II)-Sn(IV)-Zn(II) porphyrin-based triads (T2, T3, and T4) were synthesized by the reaction of common Zn(II) porphyrins (ZnL) with different Sn(IV) porphyrins (SnP n ). The Sn(IV) porphyrin precursors differ with respect to the position of the pyridyl-N atoms. All compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, UV-vis, fluorescence spectroscopy, electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy measurements. In these structures, the intramolecular cooperative metal-ligand coordination of the 3-pyridyl nitrogen in SnP 3 with axial ZnL and the π-π interactions between the adjacent porphyrin triad are the determining factors affecting the nanostructures of T3. Owing to the geometrical constraints of the SnP 2 center, this type of interaction is not possible for T2. Therefore, only the π-π interactions affect the self-assembly process. In the case of SnP 4 , intermolecular coordinative interactions and then π-π interactions are responsible for the nanostructure of T4. The morphology-dependent photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation was observed for these photocatalysts, and the degradation ratio of MO varied from 76 to 94% within 100 min. Nanorod-shaped T3 exhibited higher performance compared to nanosphere T2 and nanoflake T4.

Abstract
A series of porphyrin triads (1–4), in which each triad is composed of a Sn(IV) porphyrin and two free-base (or Zn(II)) porphyrins, was synthesized and their self-assembled nanostructures were studied. Depending on the substituent on porphyrin moieties, each triad was self-assembled into a different nanostructure. In particular, the cooperative coordination of 3-pyridyl groups in the Sn(IV) porphyrin with the axial Zn(II) porphyrins in triad 4 leads to forming uniform nanofibers with an average width of 10–22 nm. Other triads without the coordinating interaction between the central Sn(IV) porphyrin and the axial porphyrins formed irregularly shaped aggregates in contrast. The morphologies of nanofiber changed drastically upon the addition of pyrrolidine, in which pyrrolidine molecules break down the self-assembly process by coordinating with the axial Zn(II) porphyrins. All porphyrin aggregates exhibited efficient photocatalytic performances on the degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light irradiation. The degradation efficiencies after 2 h were observed to be between 70% and 95% for the aggregates derived from the four triads.

Abstract
A novel Sn(IV) meso-tetraacenaphthylporphyrin (SnTAcP) has been synthesized and characterized. SnTAcP was complexed with methyl-[Formula: see text]-cyclodextrin (m[Formula: see text]-CD), a nanocarrier that enhances water solubility, and the complexes were evaluated as PDT agents using MCF-7 breast cancer cells. A relatively low singlet oxygen quantum yield value of 0.36 was obtained in DMF, and the lowest energy Q band lies at 608 nm on the edge of the therapeutic window. SnTAcP was found to be non-toxic in the dark and phototoxic towards MCF-7 breast cancer cells with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC[Formula: see text] value of 11 ± 1.1 [Formula: see text]g · mL[Formula: see text] after 30 min of irradiation with a 625 nm Thorlabs LED that provides a dose of 432 J · cm[Formula: see text]. A higher IC[Formula: see text] value of 21 ± 1.1 [Formula: see text]g · mL-1 was obtained for the m[Formula: see text]-CD inclusion complex of SnTAcP.

Abstract
Cationic tin(IV) porphyrins with tetracarbonyl cobaltates were synthesized, exhibiting bifunctional catalytic reactivity. The Lewis acidic tin-porphyrin center activated epoxides; concurrently, cobalt carbonyl anions efficiently opened epoxides and delivered carbonyl moieties. Thus, a series of β-lactones with a high synthetic value were obtained. This catalytic system showed excellent efficiency exceeding a turnover number of one thousand with a broad substrate scope. In addition, the presented tin porphyrin-based catalyst exhibited exclusive chemoselectivity to terminal epoxides over internal ones. The selective carbonylation of di-epoxides demonstrated the usefulness of these catalysts in the synthesis of complex molecular structures.

Abstract
A series of four arrays made of a central Sn(IV) porphyrin as scaffold axially connected, via carboxylate functions, to two free-base porphyrins has been prepared and fully characterized. Three arrays in the series feature the same free-base unit and alternative tin-porphyrin macrocycles, and one consists of a second type of free-base and one chosen metallo-porphyrin. A thorough photophysical investigation has been performed on all arrays by means of time-resolved emission and absorption techniques. Specific focus has been given at identifying how structural modifications of the free-base and tin-porphyrin partners and/or variation of the solvent polarity can effectively translate into distinct photophysical behaviors. In particular, for systems SnTPP(Fb)2 (1) and SnOEP(Fb)2 (2), an ultrafast energy transfer process from the excited Sn(IV) porphyrin to the free-base unit occurs with unitary efficiency. For derivative SnTPP(FbR)2 (3), the change of solvent from dichloromethane to toluene is accompanied by a neat change in the intercomponent quenching mechanism, from photoinduced electron transfer to energy transfer, upon excitation of the Sn(IV) porphyrin unit. Finally, for array SnTpFP(Fb)2 (4), an ultrafast electron transfer quenching of both chromophores is detected in all solvents. This work provides a general outline, accompanied by clear experimental support, on possible ways to achieve a systematic fine-tuning of the quenching mechanism (from energy to electron transfer) of Sn(IV) multiporphyrin arrays.

Abstract
We report the formation of new cyclic porphyrin tetrads 1 and 2, which were obtained from the reaction between dihydroxytin(IV) porphyrin and cis-dihydroxy-21-thiaporphyrin/21,23-dithiaporphyrin. The unique oxophilicity of tin(IV) porphyrin was the driving force for the formation of these tetrads. Moreover, these novel tetrads represent the first examples of cyclic porphyrins containing tin(IV) that are constructed exclusively on the basis of the "Sn-O" interaction without any other complementary, noncompetitive mode of interactions. The molecular structures of the cyclic tetrads have been investigated by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, quantum-mechanical calculations, and, in one case, single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The X-ray structure revealed that the two cis-dihydroxy-N2S2 porphyrins were coordinated at the axial positions of two tin(IV) porphyrins, leading to the symmetric cyclic tetrad structure. The optical properties of tetrads were studied, and these compounds were stable under redox conditions. Preliminary photophysical studies carried out on the tetrads indicated efficient energy transfer from tin(IV) porphyrin to the thiaporphyrin unit, which highlights their potential applications in energy and electron transfer in the future.

The photophysics of low-chlorin tin(IV) tetraphenylporphyrin dihydroxide, a core building block for axially substituted supramolecular tin porphyrin constructs, has been studied in a variety of hydrogen-bonding, nonpolar, and aprotic polar solvents using steady-state, nanosecond, and femtosecond time-resolved emission, and femtosecond time-resolved absorption methods. In hydrogen-bonding solvents the metalloporphyrin exists as solvated monomers, and its Soret-excited S2 state in these solvents exhibits the expected linear energy gap law relationship with first-order population decay times in the 0.8 to 1.7 ps range. Evidence is presented that this metalloporphyrin aggregates in other solvents at the concentrations typically used for these ultrafast measurements and yields species-averaged time-resolved data. Cw laser excitation in the Q-band under deaerated conditions produces weak S2-S0 fluorescence (photon upconversion) as a result of triplet-triplet annihilation.

Abstract
The known oxophilicity of Germanium(IV) ion of Germanium(IV) phthalocyanine and porphyrins have been exploited to synthesize functionally active, "axial-bonding" -type hetero oligomers. These hetero trimers have been fully characterized by elemental analysis, FAB-MS, UV-visible, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1D and 1 H -1 H COSY) and fluorescence spectroscopies, as well as differential pulse voltammetric method. Comparison of their spectroscopic and electrochemical data with those of the corresponding individual constituents reveals that there is no apparent π–π interactions in these "vertically" linked hetero oligomers. The fluorescence quantum yields were found to be lower of these hetero oligomers in comparison with those of the monomeric chromophores. Electronic energy transfer and photoinduced electron transfer from axial porphyrins to central metalloid phthalocyanine and photoinduced electron transfer from singlet state of axial porphyrins to central metalloid phthalocyanine is detected in these hetero oligomers.

Abstract
The thiaporphyrin building blocks with N(3)S and N(2)S(2) cores containing one hydroxyphenyl functional group at the meso position were synthesized by adopting the unsymmetrical thiophene diol method. These monohydroxy thiaporphyrins were used to construct the first examples of axial bonding type Sn(IV) porphyrin triads in which Sn(IV) porphyrin acts as basal unit and the two thiaporphyrin units as axial ligands by treating with SnTTP(OH)(2) in benzene at refluxing temperature. The axial bonding type triads were confirmed by mass, 1D and 2D NMR studies. The absorption and electrochemical studies support weak ground state interaction among the porphyrin subunits within the porphyrin triads. The fluorescence studies indicate there is a possibility of energy transfer at the singlet state from basal Sn(IV) porphyrin unit to axial thiaporphyrin units.

Abstract
The photophysical behavior of a series of heterometallic arrays made of a central Sn(IV) porphyrin connected, respectively, to two (SnRu(2)), four (SnRu(4)), or six (SnRu(6)) ruthenium porphyrin units has been studied in dichloromethane. Two different motifs connect the ruthenium porphyrin units to central tin porphyrin core, axial coordination via ditopic bridging ligands and/or coordination to peripheral pyridyl groups of the central porphyrin ring. A remarkable number of electron transfer processes (photoinduced charge separation and recombination processes) have been time-resolved using a combination of emission spectroscopy and fast (nanosecond) and ultrafast (femtosecond) absorption techniques. In these systems both types of molecular components can be selectively populated by light absorption. In all the arrays, the local excited states of these units (the tin porphyrin singlet excited state and the ruthenium porphyrin triplet state) are quenched by electron transfer leading to a charge-separated state where the ruthenium porphyrin unit is oxidized and the tin porphyrin unit is reduced. For each array, the two forward electron transfer processes, as well as the charge recombination process leading back to the ground state, have been kinetically resolved. The rate constants obey standard free-energy correlations with the forward processes lying in the normal free-energy regime and the back reactions in the Marcus inverted region. The comparison between the trimeric (SnRu(2)) and pentameric (SnRu(4)) arrays shows that all the electron transfer processes are faster in the latter than in the former system. This can be rationalized in terms of differences in electronic factors (due to the different connecting motifs) and driving force. In less polar solvents, such as toluene, the energy of the charge-separated states is substantially lifted, leading to a switch (from electron transfer to triplet energy transfer) in the deactivation mechanism of the excited ruthenium triplet.

Abstract
The electrochemical properties of dichloro- and dihydroxo-SnIV porphyrins with three different macrocycles were examined in CH2Cl2 containing 0.1 or 0.2 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate as supporting electrolyte. The investigated compounds are represented as (TPP)SnX2, (P)Sn(X)2, and (PQ)Sn(X)2, where TPP = 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin, P = 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)porphyrin, PQ = 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)quinoxalino[2,3-b']porphyrin, and X = Cl or OH. Each porphyrin can be electroreduced in two one-electron-transfer steps with the half-wave potentials and stability of the eletroreduced compounds being dependent upon the type of coordinated axial ligand and specific macrocyclic structure. All reductions of (TPP)Sn(OH)2, (P)Sn(OH)2, and (PQ)Sn(OH)2 are reversible under the given experimental conditions and lead to the expected porphyrin pi-anion radicals and dianions, which were characterized by thin-layer UV-vis spectroelectrochemistry. This contrasts with what occurs upon the reduction of (PQ)SnCl2, which undergoes a chemical reaction with trace H2O in solution, leading to the formation of (PQ)Sn(OH)2 as well as to a protonated form of the quinoxalinoporphyrin, (PQH)Sn(OH)2, under the application of an applied potential. A protonation of the Q group breaks the conjugation between the fused quinoxaline unit and the porphyrin macrocycle, thus effectively giving a compound whose reduction properties resemble that of the metalloporphyrin in the absence of the fused ring. The electrooxidation of each neutral SnIV porphyrin was also investigated, and the effect of axial ligand and fused quinoxaline ring on the redox potentials and products of electron transfer are discussed.

Abstract
A new succinyloxyl-bridged porphyrin dimer has been synthesized and characterized by UV-vis, IR, 1 H NMR spectra and mass spectra. The photovoltaic properties and charge-transfer process have been investigated by surface photovoltage spectroscopy and electric-field-induced surface photovoltage spectroscopy techniques, which reveal that the compound is a P-type semiconductor. The spectral bands correspond to the π → π* transition. Its fluorescent properties have been studied using emission spectra. The quantum yield of the S 1 → S 0 fluorescence was 0.04 at room temperature. The electrochemical properties have been studied by cyclic voltammetry, which revealed three reversible redox processes. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the dimer has higher stability (its decomposition commences at 260°C, and it is completely decomposed at 680°C).

Abstract
Selective metal-ligand interactions have been used to prepare supramolecular bidentate ligands by mixing monodentate ligands with a suitable template. For these assemblies pyridine phosphorus ligands and a zinc(II) porphyrin dimer were used. In the rhodium-catalysed hydroformylation of 1-octene and styrene improved selectivities have been obtained for some of the assembled bidentate ligand systems. In the palladium catalysed asymmetric allylic alkylation similar effects were observed; the enantioselectivity increased by using a bisporphyrin template. The preparation of supramolecular catalyst systems was also explored using tin-oxygen interactions. Dihydroxotin(IV) porphyrin and carboxylic phosphorus ligands assemble into supramolecular ligands and the phosphorus donor atom coordinates to transition metals. The stronger oxygen-tin bond, compared to pyridine-zinc does not result in a better performance of the catalyst.
