Abstract
A novel Ru(III)-containing tungstoantimonate Na16H22[(B-β-SbW9O33)6(W3RuO7)2(W4O11)]·118H2O (1) hexamer was successfully synthesized using the hydrothermal synthesis method. Analysis by single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that the polyanion comprises six trivacant Keggin-type [B-β-SbW9O33]9- units interconnected by six {WO6} and six Ru/W disorder octahedra, resulting in an intriguing cyclohexane boat-like conformation. Compound 1 exhibits favorable proton conductivity, with a measured conductivity (σ) of 5.41 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 333 K and 55% relative humidity (RH). The activation energy (Ea) of compound 1 was determined to be 0.40 eV, providing evidence that its proton conductivity conforms to the Grotthus mechanism.

Abstract
Lacunary polyoxometalates (LPOMs) are key precursors for the synthesis of functional POMs. To date, reviews dedicated to behavioral studies of LPOMs often comprise the role of metal ions, including transition metal (TM) and rare earth (RE) ions, in extending and stability of high-nuclearity clusters. In contrast, the role of organic ligands in the structures and properties of lacunary-based hybrids has remained less explored. In this review, we focus on the role of organic fragments in the self-assembling process of POM-based architectures and discuss relationships between the nature and structure of organic ligand and properties such as the topology of hybrid inorganic–organic material in RE and TM-RE heterometallic derivatives of lacunary Keggin-type POMs. The effects of organic fragment in mixed ligand hybrids are also briefly reviewed.

Abstract
A novel ruthenium-containing polyoxometalate-based organic-inorganic hybrid, K4Na9H7.4[(AsW9O33)4(WO2)4{Ru3.2(C3H3N2)2}]·42H2O (1), was successfully synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method under acidic conditions, which applied a self-assembly strategy between inorganic polyoxometalate based on trivacant [B-α-AsW9O33]9- {AsW9} fragments and an organic ligand, imidazole (C3H4N2). Compound 1 was further characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, PXRD, IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, ESI-MS, elemental analysis and TGA. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data reveal that the polyanion consists of four trivacant Keggin-type polyanion {AsW9} building blocks bridged by four {WO6} units, leading to a crown-shaped tetrameric structure [(AsW9O33)4(WO2)4{Ru3.2(C3H3N2)2}]20.4-. The ESI-MS result reveals that the polyanion unit has excellent structural integrity in water. Moreover, the catalysis study of 1 was also further investigated, and the experimental results indicate heterogeneous catalyst 1 presents high efficiency (yield = 98%), excellent selectivity (>99%), and good recyclability for the oxidation of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)ethanol to 4'-chloroacetophenone with commercially available 70% aqueous tert-butyl hydroperoxide {TBHP (aq.)} as the oxidant at room temperature.

Abstract
Four new transition metal-containing Nb/W mixed-addendum POM trimers with the formula H19[M4(H2O)x(P2W15Nb3O62)3]·m(HCOOH)·nH2O (M = Cu, x = 15, m = 0, and n = 21, Cu-POM; M = Co, x = 7, m = 0, and n = 15, Co-POM; M = Mn, x = 7, m = 6, and n = 18, Mn-POM; and M = Zn, x = 7, m = 0, and n = 23, Zn-POM) have been synthesized by a solvothermal method in a water-ethanol mixed solvent. All the four compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). These compounds can serve as efficient heterogeneous catalysts for the cyanosilylation of different carbonyl compounds under ambient temperature and solvent-free conditions, and Cu-POM shows much better catalytic performance than the other three compounds. The cycle experiment showed that Cu-POM can be reused for at least five cycles without significant loss of catalytic activity. The IR spectroscopy and XRD analysis revealed that Cu-POM can retain its integrity after catalysis.

Abstract
Reactions of [Ru(NO)Cl5]2- with pseudotrivacant B-α-[XW9O33]9- (X = AsIII, SbIII) at 160 °C result in the rearrangement of polyoxometalate backbones into {XM18} structures. In the case of arsenic, oxidation of AsIII to AsV takes place with the formation of a mixture of plenary and monosubstituted Dawson [As2W18O62]6- and [As2W17Ru(NO)O61]7- anions, of which the latter was isolated as Me2NH2+ (DMA-1a and DMA-1b) and Bu4N+ (Bu4N-1) salts and fully characterized. Both α1 and α2 isomers of [As2W17Ru(NO)O61]7- were present in the reaction mixture; pure [α2-As2W17Ru(NO)O61]7- was isolated as the Bu4N+ salt. In the case of antimony, [SbW9O33]9- is converted into a mixture of [SbW18O60]9- and [SbW17{Ru(NO)}O59]10-. The formation of trisubstituted [SbW15{Ru(NO)}3O57]12- as a minor byproduct was detected by HPLC-ICP-AES. The monosubstituted [SbW17{Ru(NO)}O59]10- anion was isolated as DMAH+ (DMA-2) and mixed inorganic cation (CsKNa-2) salts and characterized by XRD, HPLC-ICP-AES, EA and TGA techniques. X-ray analysis shows the presence of the {Ru(NO)}-group in the 6-membered ("equatorial") belt of the Sb-free hemisphere. The experimental findings were confirmed and interpreted by means of quantum chemical calculations.

Abstract
A family of three discrete organoantimony(III)-functionalized heteropolyanions-[Na{2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)}As(III)2W19O67(H2O)](10-) (1), [{2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)}2As(III)2W19O67(H2O)](8-) (2), and [{2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)}{WO2(H2O)}{WO(H2O)}2(B-β-As(III)W8O30)(B-α-As(III)W9O33)2](14-) (3)-have been prepared by one-pot reactions of the 19-tungstodiarsenate(III) precursor [As(III)2W19O67(H2O)](14-) with 2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4SbCl2. The three novel polyanions crystallized as the hydrated mixed-alkali salts Cs3KNa6[Na{2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)}As(III)2W19O67(H2O)]·43H2O (CsKNa-1), Rb2.5K5.5[{2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)}2As(III)2W19O67(H2O)]·18H2O·Me2NCH2C6H5 (RbK-2), and Rb2.5K11.5[{2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)}{WO2(H2O)}{WO(H2O)}2(B-β-As(III)W8O30)(B-α-As(III)W9O33)2]·52H2O (RbK-3), respectively. The number of incorporated {2-(Me2HN(+)CH2)C6H4Sb(III)} units could be tuned by careful control of the experimental parameters. Polyanions 1 and 2 possess a dimeric sandwich-type topology, whereas 3 features a trimeric, wheel-shaped structure, representing the largest organoantimony-containing polyanion. All three compounds were fully characterized in the solid state via single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis, and their aqueous solution stability was validated by ultraviolet-visible light (UV-vis) and multinuclear ((1)H, (13)C, and (183)W) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Effective inhibition against six different types of bacteria was observed for 1 and 2, and we could extract a structure-bioactivity relationship for these polyanions.

Abstract
The first organic derivatives of 3d-metal-disubstituted Krebs-type polyoxometalates have been synthesized under mild bench conditions via straightforward replacement of labile aqua ligands with N,O-chelating planar anions on either preformed or in situ-generated precursors. Nine hybrid clusters containing carboxylate derivatives of five- or six-membered aromatic N-heterocycles as antenna ligands have been obtained as pure crystalline phases and characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. They all show the general formula [{M(II)L(H2O)}2(WO2)2(B-β-XW9O33)2](n-) and can be classified as follows: 1-SbM, where L = 1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate (imc), X = Sb(III), n = 12, and M(II) = Mn, Co, Ni, Zn; 1-TeM, where L = imc, X = Te(IV), n = 10, and M(II) = Mn, Co; 2-SbNi, where L = 1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (pzc), X = Sb(III), n = 12, and M(II) = Ni; and 3-SbM, where L = pyrazine-2-carboxylate (pyzc), X =Sb(III), n = 12, and M(II) = Co, Zn. The 3d-metal-disubstituted tungstotellurate(IV) skeleton of compounds 1-TeM is unprecedented in polyoxometalate chemistry. The stability of these hybrid Krebs-type species in aqueous solution has been confirmed by (1)H NMR spectroscopy performed on the diamagnetic 1-SbZn and 3-SbZn derivatives. Our systematic study of the reactivity of disubtituted Krebs-type polyoxotungstates toward diazole-, pyridine-, and diazinecarboxylates demonstrates that organic derivatization is strongly dependent on the nature of the ligand, as follows: imc displays a "universal ligand" character, as functionalization takes place regardless of the external 3d metal and heteroatom; pzc and pyzc show selectivity toward specific 3d metals; pyridazine-3-carboxylate and pyrimidine-4-carboxylate promote partial decomposition of specific precursors, leading to [M(II)L2(H2O)2] complexes; and picolinate is inert under all conditions tested.

Novel antitumor agent, trilacunary Keggin-type tungstobismuthate, inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells. Inorg Chem 2013; 52:5119-27. Abstract
A new one-dimensional chain-like compound of tungstobismuthate, [(W(OH)2)2 (Mn(H2O)3)2(Na3(H2O)14)(BiW9O33)2](Himi)2·16H2O (1) (imi = iminazole), has been synthesized in aqueous solution. The structure of 1 was identified by elemental analysis, IR, thermogravimetry (TG), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), (183)W-NMR, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. To investigate the inhibitory effect of 1 on human gastric adenocarcinoma SGC-7901 cells, cell proliferation and apoptosis initiation were examined by MTT assay (MTT = 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazoliumbromide), flow cytometry, nuclear staining, transmission electron microscopy, single cell gel electrophoresis, DNA fragmentation, and Western blotting. The results showed that 1 inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in SGC-7901 cells in dose-dependent manner. In addition, 1 also decreased the expression of bcl-2 protein and nuclear factor-κB p65 protein in SGC-7901 cells. And expression of bcl-2 protein exhibits a decreasing trend with increase of concentration of 1. Thus, 1 possessed a potential antitumor activity in SGC-7901 cells. This suggests that polyoxotungstates will provide a promising and novel antitumor agent in prevention and treatment of gastric adenocarcinoma.
