Abstract
One of the most recent advancements in the field of cataract surgery is optical biometry. With the advent of optical biometry ocular measurements are now simpler, quicker, and more precise. The devices have made intraocular lens (IOL) power calculations easier in difficult situations too, such as in cases with extremes of axial lengths, silicone filled eyes, cataract surgery in post-keratoplasty eyes, post Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) eyes, etc. The gold standard for IOL power calculation in the present day is by the use of optical biometry devices. The anatomical measurements by these devices are highly precise and because of these measurements and the incorporation of various IOL power calculation formulas the optical biometry devices give the accurate power and the post-operative visual outcome is highly satisfactory among the patients. The growing use of these devices has made cataract the most commonly performed refractive surgical procedure nowadays. In the current scenario, optical biometry has widespread acceptance in almost all countries and has many advantages over ultrasound or immersion biometry. Cataract surgeons can obtain easy and reliable measurements from these devices. Refractive surprises have also decreased considerably with their use. This article will comprehensively review the principles of the various optical biometry devices, the parameters used in each of the devices, the advantages and disadvantages, and add more like what all this article will add.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate the refractive prediction error in flanged intrascleral intraocular lens (IOL) fixation using the SRK/T formula and compare the axial length using a single IOL. Methods Seventy-six eyes from 70 patients (45 males and 25 females) were included in this study. The mean age at the time of surgery was 73.4 ±12.3 years. The patients underwent flanged IOL fixation using a PN6A (Kowa). All surgeries were performed by two surgeons (Y. K. and T. O.) between Jan 2020 and Dec 2022 at Jikei University Daisan Hospital. IOL power was calculated using the SRK/T formula with IOL Master 700 (Carl Zeiss) as the bag power. The recommended value of 119.0 was used for the A-constant. The actual refractive spherical equivalent was calculated and compared with preoperative predictions. Refractive prediction errors were defined as the deviation of the actual postoperative spherical equivalent refraction in diopters from the predicted preoperative spherical equivalent refraction. The patients were divided into three groups according to axial length: <22.0 mm (short eyes), 22.0-24.5 mm (medium eyes), and >24.5 mm (long eyes), and the refractive prediction errors and mean absolute errors were compared. Results The mean refractive prediction error was -0.20 ± 0.52D. The mean absolute error was 0.44 ± 0.33D. The mean refractive prediction errors were not significantly different between the 22.0-24.5 mm (medium eyes) and >24.5 mm (long eyes) groups. (P=0.06) The mean absolute errors were not significantly different between the two groups (P=0.10). Conclusion The SRK/T formula worked well regardless of whether the eyes were medium or long according to the axial length in the flanged intrascleral IOL fixation.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to evaluate the consistency of preoperative keratometric values, anterior segment, and intraocular lens (IOL) power measurements in patients with cataract and no comorbidities using the Sirius topography device (CSO, Italy) and Lenstar LS 900 (Haag-Streit AG, Köeniz, Switzerland). METHODS Patients with grade 2 and 3 cataracts who applied to Ophthalmology Clinic of Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Education and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences and planned for cataract surgery were included the study. Forty eyes with cataract from 40 patients were taken in the study. All patients underwent preoperative assessment using a combined Scheimpflug-Placido disc-based tomography device (Sirius) and Lenstar before cataract surgery. Keratometric measurements, such as flat keratometry (K1), steep keratometry (K2), and maximum keratometry (Kmax), and anterior segment parameters, white-to-white (WTW) distance, IOL power, astigmatism (AST), anterior chamber depth (ACD), aqueous depth (AD), and central cornea thickness (CCT), were recorded. RESULTS There were significant differences between K1Lenstar and K1Sirius, K2Lenstar and K2Sirius, KmaxLenstar and KmaxSirius, WTWLenstar and WTWSirius, and IOL powerLenstar versus IOL powerSirius. However, there were insignificant differences between ASTLenstar and ASTSirius, ACDLenstar versus ACDSirius, ADLenstar and ADSirius, and CCTLenstar and CCTSirius variables. Furthermore, it was found that Sirius measured significantly higher than Lenstar, especially in terms of IOL power. CONCLUSION Significant differences were observed between Lenstar and Sirius in terms of keratometric values, WTW distance, and IOL power. The IOL power value measured with Sirius was found to be higher than the IOL power value measured with Lenstar.

Abstract
The use of choroidal vascularization to diagnose and follow-up ocular and systemic pathologies has been consolidated in recent research. Unfortunately, the choroidal parameters can be different depending on the lighting settings of optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. The purpose of this study was to examine whether the brightness of OCT images could influence the measurements of choroidal parameters obtained by processing and analyzing scientific images with the ImageJ program. In this observational, prospective, non-randomized study, 148 eyes of 74 patients with a mean age of 30.7 ± 8.5 years (ranging from 23 to 61 years) were assessed. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmological examination including slit lamp, fundus oculi, ocular biometry, corneal tomography and spectral domain (SD) OCT evaluations of the foveal region in the enhanced depth imaging (EDI) mode. OCT images at two different brightness levels were obtained. The total choroidal area (TCA), choroidal vascularity index (CVI), stromal choroidal area (SCA) and luminal choroidal area (LCA) at both lower and higher brightness levels were measured. To avoid the bias of operator-dependent error, the lower and higher brightness TCAs were obtained using two methods: the manual tracking mode and fixed area. At the two different brightness levels, LCA, SCA and CVI measurements showed statistically significant changes (p < 0.05), whereas the TCA differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). According to the results of this study, highlighting that brightness could affect LCA, SCA and CVI parameters, care should be taken during OCT image acquisition.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of ocular biometry parameters on the predictive accuracy of 10 intraocular lens (IOL) power formulas in patients with high myopia (HM). METHODS We analyzed 202 eyes of 202 patients. The ocular biometry was determined preoperatively using an IOLMaster 700. The associations between the biometry parameters and the prediction error (PE) 1 month postoperatively were assessed. HM was defined as an axial length exceeding 26.50 mm. RESULTS In patients with HM (n = 108), the K6, Emmetropia Verifying Optical (EVO), Olsen, and Barrett Universal II (BUII) formulas had the lowest absolute PEs among the 10 formulas. The ocular biometry parameters were not associated with the PE of K6, EVO, Olsen, or BUII. A longer axial length in HM eyes was associated with myopic outcomes by Kane, Hoffer QST, and VRF and hyperopic outcomes by Holladay 2 and T2. Steeper keratometry, a deeper anterior chamber, and a thicker lens were associated with a hyperopic shift in HM eyes when using VRF, Kane, and Hoffer QST, respectively. In patients without HM (n = 94), there was no difference between the formulas in absolute PE. The significant associations between the biometry parameters and PE in patients with HM were not present in patients without HM. CONCLUSIONS K6, EVO, Olsen, and BUII displayed high accuracy in HM eyes and were not influenced by preoperative biometry parameters. For the remaining formulas, the preoperative keratometry, anterior chamber depth, lens thickness, and axial length were possible error sources underlying an inaccurate IOL power prediction in patients with HM.

Abstract
PURPOSE The proper choice of an intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formula is an important aspect of phacoemulsification. In this study, the formulas most commonly used today are described and their accuracy is evaluated. METHODS This review includes papers evaluating the accuracy of IOL power calculation formulas published during the period from January 2015 to December 2022. The articles were identified by a literature search of medical and other databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, Crossref, Web of Science, SciELO, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library) using the terms "IOL formulas," "Barrett Universal II," "Kane," "Hill-RBF," "Olsen," "PEARL-DGS," "EVO," "Haigis," "SRK/T," and "Hoffer Q." Twenty-nine of the most recent peer-reviewed papers in English with the largest samples and largest number of formulas compared were considered. RESULTS Outcomes of mean absolute error and percentage of predictions within ±0.5 D and ±1.0 D were used to evaluate the accuracy of the formulas. In most studies, Barrett achieved the smallest mean absolute error and PEARL-DGS the highest percentage of patients with ±0.5 D in short eyes, while Kane obtained the highest percentage of patients with ±0.5 D in long eyes. CONCLUSIONS The third- and fourth-generation formulas are gradually being replaced by more accurate ones. The Barrett Universal II among vergence formulas and Kane and PEARL-DGS among artificial intelligence-based formulas are currently most often reported as the most precise.

Abstract
Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a rare neurodegenerative disease. Recently, several retinal layers in PSP compared to healthy controls. were found to be thinner. However, no studies evaluating the correlation between retinal layers and cerebral white matter changes, nor eventual choroidal changes in PSP, have been conducted so far. The goals of the present study were to explore potential differences in choroidal structure between PSP and healthy controls, and to describe the relationship between retinal layers' thickness and volume, using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and age-related white matter change scores (ARWMC) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. Choroidal structures of 26 PSP patients and 26 healthy controls using standard SD-OCT with an enhanced depth imaging (EDI) approach were analyzed; then, retinal the structures of 16 of these PSP patients using standard SD-OCT were examined; finally, the same patients underwent brain MRI, and their cerebral white matter changes were calculated. Non-statistically significant differences between PSP patients' and healthy controls' choroidal structure were found. On the contrary, PSP patients' inner retinal layers (INR), retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) and all retinal layers' thicknesses in the macular region were found to be significantly correlated with ARWMC, independently from age and axial length (AL). PSP patients' neurological alterations go hand in hand with retinal ones, independently from age and axial length. Our results suggest a mutual relationship between cerebral and retinal structure pathological alterations. On the other hand, no significant differences in the choroidal evaluation compared to healthy controls have been found.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate choroidal thickness (ChT) at the subfoveal and peripheral level after the instillation of 0.5% tropicamide + 10% phenylephrine 9 hydrochloride eye drops by using OCT scans in enhanced depth image (EDI) mode. In total, 53 patients (30 males and 23 females) were involved, and the mean age was 25.62 ± 2.41 (age range: 23-36). The dominant eye was treated with tropicamide + phenylephrine (Visumidriatic Fenil 100 mg/mL + 5 mg/mL, Visufarma) while the nondominant eye was used as the control. An OCT analysis was performed on both eyes before and 30 min after the instillation of a drop of mydriatic in the dominant eye. The ChT was measured by using the OCT software measurement tool (Spectralis; Heidelberg Engineering; Heidelberg, Germany, version 6.0). The results showed a statistically significant ChT decrease (p = 0.009) in the temporal sector after the treatment with tropicamide + phenylephrine. In the subfoveal and nasal sectors, no statistically significant ChT changes were detected (p = 0.94; p = 0.85) following the administration of the mydriatic eye drops. The ChT thinning in the temporal sector following the instillation of the tropicamide + phenylephrine eye drops suggests that in the case of ChT studies, mydriatic administration should be avoided.

Abstract
Myopia is the leading cause of visual impairment in the world. With ever-increasing prevalence in these years, it creates an alarming global epidemic. In addition to the difficulty in seeing distant objects, myopia also increases the risk of cataract and advances its onset, greatly affecting the productivity of myopes of working age. Cataract management in myopic eyes, especially highly myopic eyes is originally more complicated than that in normal eyes, whereas the growing population of cataract with myopia, increasing popularity of corneal and lens based refractive surgery, and rising demand for spectacle independence after cataract surgery all further pose unprecedented challenges to ophthalmologists. Previous history of corneal refractive surgery and existence of implantable collamer lens will both affect the accuracy of biometry including measurement of corneal curvature and axial length before cataract surgery, which may result in larger intraocular lens (IOL) power prediction errors and a compromise in the surgical outcome especially in a refractive cataract surgery. A prudent choice of formula for cataract patients with different characteristics is essential in improving this condition. Besides, the characteristics of myopic eyes might affect the long-term stability of IOL, which is important for the maintenance of visual outcomes especially after the implantation of premium IOLs, thus a proper selection of IOL accordingly is crucial. In this mini-review, we provide an overview of the impact of myopia epidemic on treatment for cataract and to discuss new challenges that surgeons may encounter in the foreseeable future when planning refractive cataract surgery for myopic patients.

Abstract
Purpose To assess the accuracy of five new-generation intraocular lens (IOL) power formulas: Barrett Universal II (BUII), Emmetropia Verifying Optical (EVO) Formula, Hill-Radial Basis Function (Hill-RBF), Kane Formula, and Ladas Super Formula (LSF). Patients and Methods This is a retrospective single-surgeon study from a refractive clinic and clinical research center in Draper, UT, USA. The primary outcome measures were mean absolute error (MAE) and median absolute error (MedAE). Secondary outcome measures were the standard deviation (SD) of each formula's refractive prediction errors (RPE) and the percentage of eyes within ±0.50D. Refractive predictions were compared to the postoperative spherical equivalent to determine the RPE for each formula. RPEs were optimized, and MAE, MedAE, SD of the AME, and percent of eyes achieving RPEs within the specified ranges of ±0.125 D, ±0.25 D, ±0.50 D, ±0.75 D, ±1.0 D were calculated. Subgroup analysis between different axial lengths was attempted but yielded insufficient statistical power to draw meaningful conclusions. Results A total of 103 eyes of 103 patients were included in our study after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria to 606 eyes from 2019 to 2021. Formulas ranked in ascending order by MAE were Kane, EVO, BUII, Hill-RBF, and LSF. The ascending rankings of MedAE were Kane, BUII, Hill-RBF, EVO, Ladas. Kane had a significantly lower MAE than Hill-RBF (p<0.001). EVO had the lowest SD of AMEs and the highest percentage of eyes within ±0.50 D. According to heteroscedastic testing, EVO also had a statistically significant lower SD than Hill-RBF. Conclusion Kane was the most accurate formula in terms of MAE and MedAE. EVO and BUII achieved marginally higher MAEs than Kane, suggesting these three formulas are comparable in performance. With the exception EVO and Hill-RBF, the heteroscedastic test yielded no significant differences in SD between the formulas. Although there were multiple statistically significant differences between the formulas in terms of MAE, MedAE, and SD, these differences may not be appreciable clinically. Lastly, there were no statistically significant differences in the percent of eyes with RPEs within ±0.50 D, suggesting similar clinical performance between formulas.

Abstract
Retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging is a valuable tool for assessing the condition of the back part of the eye. The condition has a great effect on the specificity of diagnosis, the monitoring of many physiological and pathological procedures, and the response and evaluation of therapeutic effectiveness in various fields of clinical practices, including primary eye diseases and systemic diseases such as diabetes. Therefore, precise diagnosis, classification, and automated image analysis models are crucial. In this paper, we propose an enhanced optical coherence tomography (EOCT) model to classify retinal OCT based on modified ResNet (50) and random forest algorithms, which are used in the proposed study's training strategy to enhance performance. The Adam optimizer is applied during the training process to increase the efficiency of the ResNet (50) model compared with the common pre-trained models, such as spatial separable convolutions and visual geometry group (VGG) (16). The experimentation results show that the sensitivity, specificity, precision, negative predictive value, false discovery rate, false negative rate accuracy, and Matthew's correlation coefficient are 0.9836, 0.9615, 0.9740, 0.9756, 0.0385, 0.0260, 0.0164, 0.9747, 0.9788, and 0.9474, respectively.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate a new non-contact instrument (OA-2000) measuring the ocular biometry parameters of silicone oil (SO)-filled aphakic eyes, as compared with IOLMaster 700. METHODS Forty SO-filled aphakic eyes of 40 patients were enrolled in this cross-sectional clinical trial. The axial length (AL), central corneal thickness (CCT), keratometry ((flattest keratometry) Kf and (steep keratometry, 90° apart from Kf) Ks), and axis of the Kf (Ax1) were measured with OA-2000 and IOLMaster 700. The coefficient of variation (CoV) was calculated to assess the repeatability. The correlation was evaluated by the Pearson coefficient. Bland-Altman analysis and paired t test were used to analyze the agreements and differences of parameters measured by the two devices, respectively. RESULTS The mean AL obtained with the OA-2000 was 23.57 ± 0.93 mm (range: 21.50 to 25.68 mm), and that obtained with the IOLMaster 700 was 23.69 ± 0.94 mm (range: 21.85 to 25.86 mm), resulting in a mean offset of 0.124 ± 0.125 mm (p < 0.001). The mean offset of CCT measured by OA-2000 and IOLMaster 700 was 14.6 ± 7.5 μm (p < 0.001). However, the Kf, Ks and Ax1 values from the two devices were comparable (p > 0.05). All the measured parameters of the two devices showed strong linear correlations (all r ≥ 0.966). The Bland-Altman analysis showed a narrow 95% limits of agreement (LoA) of Kf, Ks and AL, but 95%LoA of CCT and Ax1 was wide, which were - 29.3 ~ 0.1 μm and-25.9 ~ 30.7°respectively. The CoVs of the biometric parameters obtained with OA-2000 were lower than 1%. CONCLUSION In SO-filled aphakic eyes, the ocular parameters (including AL, Kf, Ks, Ax1, and CCT) measured by the OA-2000 and IOLMaster 700 had a good correlation. Two devices had an excellent agreement on ocular biometric measurements of Kf, Ks and AL. The OA-2000 provided excellent repeatability of ocular parameters in SO-filled aphakic eyes.

Abstract
This retrospective comparative study proposes a multi-formula approach by comparing no-history IOL power calculation methods after myopic laser-refractive-surgery (LRS). One-hundred-thirty-two eyes of 132 patients who had myopic-LRS and cataract surgery were examined. ALMA, Barrett True-K (TK), Ferrara, Jin, Kim, Latkany and Shammas methods were evaluated in order to back-calculate refractive prediction error (PE). To eliminate any systematic error, constant optimization through zeroing-out the mean error (ME) was performed for each formula. Median absolute error (MedAE) and percentage of eyes within ±0.50 and ±1.00 diopters (D) of PE were analyzed. PEs were plotted with corresponding mean keratometry (K), axial length (AL), and AL/K ratio; then, different ranges were evaluated. With optimized constants through zeroing-out ME (90 eyes), ALMA was better when K ≤ 38.00 D-AL > 28.00 mm and when 38.00 D < K ≤ 40.00 D-26.50 mm < AL ≤ 29.50 mm; Barrett-TK was better when K ≤ 38.00 D-AL ≤ 26.50 mm and when K > 40.00 D-AL ≤ 28.00 mm or AL > 29.50 mm; and both ALMA and Barrett-TK were better in other ranges. (p < 0.05) Without modified constants (132 eyes), ALMA was better when K > 38.00 D-AL ≤ 29.50 mm and when 36.00 < K ≤ 38.00 D-AL ≤ 26.50 mm; Barrett-TK was better when K ≤ 36.00 D and when K ≤ 38.00 D with AL > 29.50 mm; and both ALMA and Barrett-TK were better in other ranges (p < 0.05). A multi-formula approach, according to different ranges of K and AL, could improve refractive outcomes in post-myopic-LRS eyes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To assess agreement of measurements between a new optical low coherence reflectometry (OLCR) biometer (SW-9000, Suoer, Tianjin, China) and a spectral-domain optical coherence tomographer (SD-OCT)/Placido topographer (MS-39, CSO, Florence, Italy) in healthy subjects. METHODS A total of 66 right eyes from 66 healthy subjects were enrolled in this prospective study. Three consecutive measurements were randomly obtained with both devices by the same experienced operator to assess agreement. Bland-Altman plots and 95% limits of agreement (LoA) were used to verify the agreement between the devices. Results are presented as mean ± standard deviation (SD). RESULTS The SD-OCT/Placido tomographer showed high agreement with the OLCR biometer for all parameters included in this study. The mean differences of central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), aqueous depth (AQD), mean keratometry (Km) and corneal diameter (CD) were 2.21 ± 2.67 μm (P < 0.001), - 0.10 ± 0.03 mm (P < 0.001), - 0.10 ± 0.04 mm (P < 0.001), - 0.01 ± 0.22 D (P = 0.773) and 0.20 ± 0.16 mm (P < 0.001), respectively. This implies that the inter-device difference in Km was not statistically significant, while the differences in CCT, ACD, AQD, CD were statistically but not clinically significant. The 95% LoAs of CCT, ACD, AQD, Km and CD were - 3.01 to 7.44 μm, - 0.16 to - 0.05 mm, - 0.18 to - 0.03 mm, - 0.45 to 0.43 D, and - 0.12 to 0.51 mm, respectively. CONCLUSIONS For CCT, ACD, AQD, Km, and CD in healthy subjects, the new OLCR biometer has high agreement with the SD-OCT/Placido tomographer and can be used interchangeably due to the narrow range of 95% LoAs.
