Abstract
The rational design and construction of hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) are crucial for enabling their practical applications, but controlling their structure and preparation as intended remains challenging. Inspired by reticular chemistry, two novel blue-emitting NKM-HOF-1 and NKM-HOF-2 were successfully constructed based on two judiciously designed peripherally extended pentiptycene carboxylic acids, namely H8PEP-OBu and H8PEP-OMe, respectively. The large pores within these two HOFs can adsorb fluorescent molecules such as diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) and 9-anthraldehyde (AnC) to form HOFs ⊃ DPP/AnC composites, subsequently used in the fabrication of white-light-emitting devices (WLEDs). Specifically, two WLEDs were assembled by coating NKM-HOF-1 ⊃ DPP-0.13/AnC-3.5 and NKM-HOF-2 ⊃ DPP-0.12/AnC-3 on a 330 nm ultraviolet LED bulb, respectively. The corresponding CIE coordinates were (0.29, 0.33) and (0.32, 0.34), along with corresponding color temperatures of 7815 K and 6073 K. This work effectively demonstrates the feasibility of employing reticular chemistry strategies to predict and design HOFs with specific topologies for targeted applications.

White light emission from helically stacked humin-mimic based H-aggregates in heteroatom free carbon dots. NANOSCALE 2023; 15:19238-19254. Abstract
White light emission (WLE), particularly from heteroatom free carbon dots (CDs), is unusual. Besides, deciphering the origin of WLE from a H-aggregated molecular fluorophore in such kinds of CDs is a challenging task due to their non-fluorescent character resulting from a forbidden transition from a lower-energy excitonic state. Therefore, rigorous investigation on their elusive excited state photophysical properties along with their steady-state optical phenomena has to be carried out to shed light on the nature of distinct emissive states formed in the CDs. Herein, for the first time, we report WLE from imperfect H-aggregates of co-facially π-π stacked humin-like structures comprising furfural monomer units as a unique molecular fluorophore in CDs, as revealed from combined spectroscopic and microscopic studies, synthesized through hydrothermal treatment of the single precursor, dextrose. H-aggregates in CDs show a broad range of excitation-dependent emission spectra with color coordinates close to pure white light, i.e., CIE (0.35, 0.37) and a color temperature of 6000 K. Imperfect orientation between the transition dipole moments of adjacent monomer units in the H-aggregate's molecular arrangement is expected to cause ground state symmetry breaking, as confirmed by Circular Dichroism (CD) studies, which established helically stacked nature in molecular aggregates and produced significant oscillatory strength at lower energy excitonic states to enable fluorescence. TRES and TAS investigations have been performed to minimise the intricacies associated with excited state photophysics, which is regarded as an essential step in gaining a grasp on emissive states. Based on the observation of two isoemissive spots in the time-resolved area normalized emission spectra (TRANES), the existence of three oligomeric species in the excited state equilibrium of the pure/hybrid H-aggregates has been established. The exciton dynamics through electron relaxation from the higher to the lower excitonic states, charge transfer (CT) states, and surface trap mediated emission in excimer states of H-aggregates have also been endorsed as three distinct emissive states from femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy (TAS) studies corroborating with their steady-state absorption and emission behavior. The results would demonstrate the usage of CDs as a cutting-edge fluorescent material for creating aggregate-induced white light emission.

Abstract
Etherified aroyl-S,N-ketene acetals are readily synthesized by a novel one-pot addition-elimination-Williamson-etherification sequence. Although the underlying chromophore remains constant, derivatives show pronounced color-tuning of solid-state emission and AIE characteristics, whereas a hydroxy-methyl derivative represents an easily accessible mono molecular aggregation-induced white-light emitter.

Abstract
In this report, we have designed and synthesized a perylene-based smart fluoroprobe (PBE) in which the perylene core has been functionalized with the boronate group at the peri-position. PBE shows a very fast and ratiometric response toward harmful organic peroxides (OPs) generated in old ethereal solvents via auto-oxidation. The response toward OPs takes place with a visible color change from green to yellow, which could be easily observed with the naked eye. The reaction between PBE and OPs involves the cleavage of the boronate group and its consequent conversion into the -OH group. The response of PBE toward OPs was monitored using UV-vis absorption, fluorescence emission, IR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Additionally, we have also explored the self-assembly of PBE in an organic-aqueous solvent mixture, which shows pure white light emission (WLE) with the CIE coordinates (0.33, 0.33) in a 50% dimethyl sulfoxide-water mixture. This work clearly reveals that PBE fluoroprobe can be employed for sensitive detection of hazardous OPs present in old ethereal solvents. Moreover, the ability of PBE to generate the perfect pure WLE makes it a potential candidate for application in organic light-emitting devices.

Abstract
New exo-Diels-Alder adduct dyes were synthesized. Pure exo and endo dye isomers were isolated and prepared. Two high-quality, blue-light emitting crystals were obtained. X-ray single crystal diffraction reveals the precise structure of the exo isomer, and longer Diels-Alder bonds (1.59 Å) than common C-C bonds (1.54 Å). The adduct dye displays high intramolecular energy transfer efficiency from the pyrene donor to the dansyl acceptor, where blue-violet donor emission is prohibited. By dynamic furan moiety exchange, the donor fluorescence restores, which combines with complementary green-yellow acceptor fluorescence to give white-light emission of the dye systems. White and green-light emitting dye systems could be reversibly, controllably, and mutually transformed.

Abstract
White-light-emitting (WLE) organic materials, especially small molecules comprising a single chromophoric unit, have received much attention due to their tremendous use in modern-day electronic devices and biomaterials. They can increase the efficiency and lifetime of devices compared to the currently used combination approach. Herein, we explored a small symmetric push-pull organic molecule Hexyl-TCBD with a single 1,1,4,4-tetracyanobuta-1,3-diene (TCBD) chromophoric unit containing urea as a key functional group on an acceptor-donor∼donor-acceptor (A-D∼D-A) backbone for its ability to show white-light emission in solution as well as in the solid state. The luminescence was absent in the solid state due to the H-bonding- and π-stacking-driven quenching processes, while emission behavior in solution was tunable with variable CIE chromaticity index values via hydrogen (H)-bonding-governed disaggregation phenomena. Translation of WLE from the Hexyl-TCBD solution to a solid state was demonstrated by utilizing nonemissive polystyrene (80 wt % with respect to the chromophore) as the matrix to obtain WLE nanofibers (made by the electrospun technique) via segregating the molecules. The optical microscopy study validated the WLE nanofibers. The presence of multicolor photoluminescence, including white light, could be fine-tuned through various excitation wavelengths, solvent polarities, and polystyrene matrices. Furthermore, the detailed photophysical studies, including lifetime measurements, indicated that the inherent intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) bands of Hexyl-TCBD exhibit better ICT state stabilization by space charge distribution through the modulation of H-bonding between urea groups. Finally, a cytotoxicity study was performed for Hexyl-TCBD on normal and cancer cell lines using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay to explore bioimaging applications in biosystems. MTT results revealed significant toxicity toward cancer cells, whereas normal cells exhibited good biocompatibility.

Abstract
The booming of host-guest assembly-based supramolecular chemistry provides abundant ways to construct functional systems and materials. Attracted by the important application prospect of white light emission and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) materials, herein, we report an efficient way for fabricating metal-free white light-emitting AIE materials through the supramolecular assembly of simple organic compounds: methoxyl pillar[5]arene (MP5) and tri-(pyridine-4-ylamido)benzene (TAP). By host-guest assembly, MP5 and TAP formed a supramolecular polymer (MP5-T); meanwhile, the MP5-T xerogel powder emitted white light at CIE coordinates (0.29 and 0.29). The supramolecular assembly and white light-emitting mechanisms were carefully investigated by experiments as well as quantum chemical calculations including density functional theory (DFT), reduced density gradient, electrostatic surface potential, independent gradient model, and frontier molecular orbital (highest-occupied molecular orbital-lowest-unoccupied molecular orbital) analyses. Interestingly, according to the experiments and calculations, the supramolecular assembly is critical in the white light-emitting phenomenon. Moreover, in this work, the quantum chemical calculations could not only support experimental phenomena but also provide deep understanding and visualized presentation of the assembly and emission mechanism. In addition, the obtained MP5-T solid powder could serve as a novel and easy means to make material for white light-emitting devices.

Abstract
White-light-emitting materials have received significant attention because of their potential application in lighting, displays, and sensors. However, it is a challenge to obtain white light from one phosphor, because the basic requirement of the white light emission spectrum is that it should be wide enough to cover the entire visible light region. In this study, we have designed and demonstrated a white-light-emitting PMMA-CBS-127/PVP-coumarin 6/PAN-rhodamine B (PSCR) fibrous membrane, which was prepared through a triphasic electrospinning method. Three luminescent organic dyes, CBS-127 (4.77 wt%, blue), coumarin 6 (0.1 wt%, green), and rhodamine B (0.42 wt%, red), were elaborately selected and doped into PMMA, PVP, and PAN, respectively. The resulting flexible PSCR membranes show white light emission (cover the entire visible-light region from 382 to 700 nm) with Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.31, 0.32), which is very close to ideal white light with CIE coordinates (0.33, 0.33). In addition, the PSCR membranes maintained high-quality white light emission after about 10 weeks of storage. The PSCR membranes can be used as the phosphor converting layer in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) through a remote membrane packaging method. A bright white emission is achieved at an applied voltage of 9 V. Therefore, the results indicate that PSCR membranes are potentially attractive candidates for application in WLEDs and displays.

Abstract
We have designed and synthesized the benzoselenadiazole (BDS) based donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) π-conjugated compound 4,7-di((E)styryl)benzo[2,1,3]selenadiazole (1). A single-crystal study of 1 shows J-type molecular aggregation in the solid state. The crystal packing of 1 shows head-to-head dimeric intermolecular assembly via Se⋅⋅⋅N interactions while staircase-type interlock molecular packing has occurred via Se⋅⋅⋅π interaction. The staircase-type interlock packing of dimeric molecular arrangement induces sheet-type, herringbone type architecture along crystallographic a axis and ab plane via CH⋅⋅⋅π interactions. Interestingly, the J-type aggregation of 1 in solid state changes to H-type aggregation upon UV-irradiation. Moreover, our spectroscopic findings in solution state reveal H-type of aggregation of 1 in 90 % aqueous THF. We have further demonstrated white light emission in the binary mixture of 1 and 1-pyrenemethanol (2) in 90 % aqueous THF. Our study reveals solvent specific co-assembly of H-aggregated 1 and 2 in 90 % aqueous THF solution, which shows white light emissive properties with the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates (0.32, 0.31). The observed white light emission arises mainly due to the combination of red light from H-aggregated 1, blue light from monomeric 2 and green light from excimers of 2.

Abstract
Three mechanoresponsive polyurethane elastomers whose blue, green, and orange photoluminescence can be reversibly turned on by mechanical force were prepared and combined to create a blend that exhibits deformation-induced white photoluminescence. The three polyurethanes contain rotaxane-based supramolecular mechanoluminophores based on π-extended pyrene, anthracene, or 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM) luminophores, respectively, and 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic diimide as an electronically matched quencher. Each polymer shows instantly reversible, strain-dependent switching of its photoluminescence intensity when stretched and relaxed, as deformation leads to a spatial separation of the luminophore and quencher. The present study shows that the photoluminescence color can easily be tailored by variation of the luminophore and also by combining several mechanophores in one material and demonstrates that adaptability is a key advantage of supramolecular approaches to create mechanoresponsive polymers.

Abstract
White light emitting mixture (WLEM) was produced by controlled mixing of blue emitting silicon quantum dots (Si QDs) and orange red emitting gold nanoclusters (Au NCs). The chromaticity color co-ordinate of the WLEM studied using CIE (Commission Internationale del'Eclairage) diagram was found to be (0.33, 0.32), which was very close to that of perfect white light emitting source. The WLEM can also be achieved in the form of gel, solid and film with nearly the same CIE co-ordinates which enhances its utility as white light-emitting source in solid state devices. The reversible and thermo-responsive behaviour of the WLEM broadens its application in thermal sensing. Furthermore, the system was found to be showing fast, sensitive and selective detection of Hg2+ ions and thiol containing amino acid cysteine. A simple solution based approach for generation of WLEM and its utilities in sensing of Hg2+ ions and cysteine.![]()

Abstract
Solutions of 5-N-arylaminothiazoles containing pyridyl groups exhibited clear halochromism and halofluorism upon addition of Brønsted and Lewis acids. The addition of triflic acid to solutions of 5-N-arylaminothiazoles in Et2O induced bathochromic shifts of the absorption and emission bands. DFT calculations suggested that the spectral changes arise from the protonation of the pyridyl group of the thiazoles in Et2O. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of a thiazole and its protonated form revealed the change of the conformation around the thiazole ring. The emission of white light was accomplished from a single fluorescent dye by adjusting the ratio of dye and B(C6F5)3, whereby the International Commission on Illumination coordinates showed a linear change from blue to orange.
