Abstract
The effective capture and recovery of radioiodine species associated with nuclear fuel reprocessing is of significant importance in nuclear power plants. Porous materials have been proven to be one of the most effective adsorbents for the capture of radioiodine. In this work, we design and synthesize a series of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs), namely, TPDA-TFPB CMP, TPDA-TATBA CMP, and TPDA-TECHO CMP, which are constructed based on a planar rectangular 4-connected organic monomer and three triangular 3-connected organic monomers, respectively. The resultant CMPs are characterized using various characterization techniques and used as effective adsorbents for iodine capture. Our experiments indicated that the CMPs exhibit excellent iodine adsorption capacities as high as 6.48, 6.25, and 6.37 g g-1 at 348 K and ambient pressure. The adsorption mechanism was further investigated and the strong chemical adsorption between the iodine and the imine/tertiary ammonia of the CMPs, 3D network structure with accessible hierarchical pores, uniform micromorphology, wide π-conjugated structure, and high-density Lewis-base sites synergistically contribute to their excellent iodine adsorption performance. Moreover, the CMPs demonstrated good recyclability. This work provides guidance for the construction of novel iodine adsorbent materials with high efficiency in the nuclear power field.

Abstract
Radioactive iodine poses a significant risk to human health, particularly with regard to reproductive and metabolic functions. Designing and developing highly efficient adsorbent materials for radioactive substances remain a significant challenge. This study aimed to address this issue by the fabricating polymeric beads containing covalent organic polymer (COP) as an effective method for removing iodine vapor. To achieve this, a COP was first synthesized via the Friedel-Crafts reaction catalyzed by anhydrous aluminum chloride. Then, COP-loaded polysulfone (PSf) (COP@PSf) and PSf beads were prepared using a phase separation method. The beads produced in this research have exhibited remarkable proficiency in adsorbing iodine vapor, showing an adsorption capacity of up to 216 wt % within just 420 min, which is higher than that of most other similar beads reported in the literature.

Abstract
The safe and efficient management of hazardous radioactive iodine is significant for nuclear waste reprocessing and environmental industries. A novel supramolecular framework compound based on cucurbit[8]uril (Q[8]) and 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) is reported in this paper. In the single crystal structure of Q[8]-(4-AP), two 4-AP molecules interact with the outer surface of Q[8] and the two other 4-AP molecules are encapsulated into the Q[8] cavity to form the self-assembly Q[8]-(4-AP). Iodine adsorption experiments show that the as-prepared Q[8]-(4-AP) not only has a high adsorption capacity (1.74 g· g-1) for iodine vapor but also can remove the iodine in the organic solvent and the aqueous solution with the removal efficiencies of 95% and 91%, respectively. The presence of a large number of hydrogen bonds between the iodine molecule and the absorbent, as seen in the single crystal structure of iodine-loaded Q[8]-(4-AP) (I2@Q[8]-(4-AP)), is thought to be responsible for the exceptional iodine adsorption capacity of the material. In addition, the adsorption-desorption tests reveal that the self-assembly material has no significant loss of iodine capture capacity after five cycles, indicating that it has sufficient reusability.

Abstract
The rapid development of nuclear energy posed a great threat to the environment and human health. Herein, two hydroxyl-functionalized hyper-crosslinked polymers (PIHCP-1 and PIHCP-2) containing different electron active sites have been synthesized via Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction of the polyimides. The resulting polymers showed a micro/mesoporous morphology and good thermal and chemical stability. Rely on the high porosity and multi-active sites, the PIHCPs show an ultrahigh iodine uptake capacity reached 6.73 g g-1 and the iodine removal efficiency from aqueous solution also reaches 99.7%. Kinetic analysis demonstrates that the iodine adsorption on PIHCPs was happened on the heterogeneous surfaces in the form of multilayer chemisorption. Electrostatic potential (ESP) calculation proves the great contribution of hydroxyl groups on the iodine capture performance. In addition, the iodine capture efficiency of both adsorbents can be maintained over 91% after four cyclic experiments which ensures their good recyclability for further practical applications.

Abstract
Radioactive iodine vapors produced by nuclear fission can pose a significant risk to human health and the environment. Effective monitoring of iodine vapor leakage, capture and storage of radioactive iodine vapor are of great importance for the safety of the nuclear industry. Herein, we report a novel structure-function integrated solid iodine vapor adsorbent based on metal-modified boron nitride (BN) aerogel. Metal-modified BN aerogels incorporated with Cu/Ag nanoparticles (named as BN-Cu and BN-Ag, respectively) are successfully prepared by a metal-induced, ultrasonic-assisted, and in-situ transformation method. The metal-modified BN aerogels show improved mechanical properties in both of the maximum stress and residual deformation. Remarkably, due to the greatly enhanced "host-guest" and "guest-guest" effects by the introduction of metal nanoparticles, the BN-Cu and BN-Ag aerogels exhibit record-breaking iodine vapor adsorption capacities among inorganic adsorbents (1739.8 and 2234.13 wt% respectively), which are even higher than that of most organic adsorbents. Furthermore, an integrated iodine adsorption detection device based on metal-modified aerogels is constructed to realize real-time detection of the electrical properties of aerogels during iodine adsorption. This work provides a foundation for the development of BN aerogels as multifunctional platforms for effective iodine capture and detection. It also introduces new ideas for the use of structural-functional integrated materials in the prevention and control of radioactive iodine pollution.

Abstract
Radioactive iodine from nuclear waste poses a huge threat to public safety and raises concerns about environmental pollution. There is thus a growing demand for developing novel adsorbents for highly effective iodine capture. In this work, we design and synthesize three novel conjugated microporous polymers, namely, TPE-PyTTA-CMP, TPE-TAPP-CMP, and TPE-TPDA-CMP, which are constructed by an imidization reaction based on octet and tetratopic linkers. The iodine vapor adsorption experiments show that the three CMPs have an excellent iodine adsorption capacity as high as 3.10, 3.67, and 4.68 g·g-1 under 348 K and ambient pressure conditions, respectively. The adsorbed iodine in the CMPs can be released into methanol in a dramatically rapid manner, and their excellent iodine adsorption performance can still be maintained after multiple cycles. In addition, the CMPs demonstrate good adsorption performance in an n-hexane solution of iodine, and the kinetic experimental data follow the pseudo-second-order model. The hierarchical porosity, extended π-conjugated skeleton, and rich electron-donor nitrogen sites of the CMPs could contribute to their excellent iodine adsorption performance. The knowledge information obtained in this work could open up new possibilities for designing novel CMPs targeting a wide range of environment-related applications.

Abstract
The majority of COFs synthesized using current methods exist as insoluble powders, which is unfavorable for processing and molding and greatly limits their practical applications. The syntheses of solution-processable or soluble COFs are challenging but hold immense promise and potential. Herein, for the first time, we have developed a simple and high-efficiency solvothermal-treated unit exchange approach to convert insoluble COF powders into smaller, highly soluble COFs via a hydrogen bond-assisted strategy. Due to the enhanced backbone-solvent hydrogen-bonding interactions between COFs and protic solvents and the effect of grain size reduction, the COFs after unit exchange can be easily dissolved in various protic solvents while remaining as insoluble powders in nonprotic solvents. The obtained soluble COFs exhibit remarkable fluorescence quenching upon detection of iodine in aqueous solution, with a detection limit as low as 75 nM, and can be fabricated into membranes for the efficient treatment of iodine-contaminated solutions.

Abstract
In this paper, we report the synthetic strategy of direct arylation polymerization (DAP) for four 2,2'-bithiophene-based conjugated microporous polymers (the 2,2'-BTh-based CMPs) by coupling 2,2'-bithiophene with the building blocks containing bromine. Compared to conventional coupling polymerization, this synthetic scheme is simple, facile and atomically efficient owing to neither preactivating the C-H bonds in 2,2'-bithiophene using organometallic reagents nor synthesis of complex thiophene-based building blocks. The resulting 2,2'-BTh-based CMPs exhibit excellent thermal stability, high specific surface areas, and good microporosity. Their specific surface areas are higher than that of other previously reported CMPs prepared with DAP. The four 2,2'-BTh-based CMPs can be utilized for multicolor fluorescence sensing of 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP) with the high sensitivity and selectivity. The sensitivities appear to increase with the degree of structural distortion.

Abstract
The photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) provides an attractive approach to tackling environmental issues. To actualize the optimal catalytic efficiency, one efficacious strategy is to rationally modulate the charge migration for the adopted heterogeneous catalysts. Herein, by virtue of a one-step hydrothermal method, Cu2S nanospheres and defect-rich Cu2S (CuSx) nanosheets are wrapped by a triazine-containing covalent framework (TP-TA COF), resulting in CuSx/TP-TA and Cu2S/TP-TA. Owing to the heterojunction construction that suppresses the carrier recombination, both hybridized structures present enhanced charge migration in comparison to that of their corresponding sulfides and COF constituents. It is worth emphasizing that CuSx/TP-TA proffers a significantly greater photocurrent than Cu2S/TP-TA. The subsequent photocatalytic reduction of CO2 also exhibits an apparently higher CO evolution rate, about 2.8 times higher than the Cu2S/TP-TA photocatalyst. The above evident improvement owes much to the heterostructure establishment between CuSx and TP-TA COF, as well as the synergistic effect provided by the defect engineering for CuSx, both of which are able to enhance the separation efficiency of photoinduced carriers. Our work sheds light on the rational construction of heterogeneous structures between organic and inorganic photocatalysts, which emphasizes the possible synergistic effect of defect centers for enhancing photocatalytic performance.

Abstract
Although considerable efforts have been devoted, the development of novel ionic porous networks (IPNs) in a scalable manner to tackle the issues in pollutant treatment by adsorption remains an imminent challenge. Herein, inspired by natural spider webs, a knitting copolymerization strategy is proposed to construct analogue triazolium salt-based porous networks (IPN-CSUs). It is not only convenient to incorporate the cationic motifs into the network, but easy to control over the contents of ionic pairs. The as-prepared IPN-CSUs displays a high surface area of 924 m2 g-1 , a large pore volume of 1.27 cm3 g-1 and abundant ionic sites, thereby exhibiting fast adsorption rate and high adsorption capacity towards organic and inorganic pollutants. The kinetics and thermodynamics study reveal that the adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model correspondingly. Specifically, the maximum adsorption capacity of the IPN-CSUs is as high as 1.82 mg mg-1 for permanganate ions and up to 0.54 mg mg-1 for methyl orange, which stands out among the previously reported porous adsorbents so far. We expect that the strategy reported herein can be extended to the development of other potential efficient adsorbents in water purifications. This article is protected by copyright. Abstract
Based on the recent (2015–2021) literature data, the authors analyze the mutual dependence of crystallinity/amorphism and specific surface area and porosity in covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs), taking into account thermodynamic and kinetic control in the synthesis of these 2D nanosheets. CTFs have now become a promising new class of high-performance porous organic materials. They can be recycled and reused easily, and thus have great potential as sustainable materials. For 2D CTFs, numerous examples are given to support the known rule that the structure and properties of any material with a given composition depend on the conditions of its synthesis. The review may be useful for elder students, postgraduate students, engineers and research fellows dealing with chemical synthesis and modern nanotechnologies based on 2D covalent triazine frameworks.

Abstract
The adsorption applications of MXene-based adsorbents have intensively investigated recently. However, the performance of MXene-based adsorbents has been largely limited owing to their lack of functional groups and adsorptive sites. Therefore, surface functionalization of MXene is an important route to achieve better performance for environmental adsorption. Herein, polyionic liquid functionalized MXene (named as MXene-PIL) was prepared through a multi-component reaction and adsorptive removal of iodine by MXene-PIL was also evaluated. The successful generation of PIL on MXene was confirmed by a series of characterization measurements. Furthermore, the effects of contact time, iodine concentration, environmental temperature and other factors on the adsorption performance of MXene-PIL were investigated. Adsorption kinetic analysis including pseudo-first-order dynamic model, pseudo-second-order dynamic model and Weber-Morris model, adsorption thermodynamic analysis such as Langmuir and Freundlich models and Van't Hoff equation were used for further analysis the adsorption behavior of iodine by MXene-PIL. We demonstrated that the adsorption capacity could be as high as about 170 mg/g, which is obviously larger than the unmodified MXene and most of other reported adsorbents. Taken together, a simple strategy has been developed for in-situ generation of PIL on MXene and the resultant composites show potential application for adsorptive removal of iodine.

Abstract
Porous organosilica microparticles consisting of silane-derived cyclophosphazene bridges were synthesized by a surfactant-mediated sol-gel process. Starting from the substitution of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene with allylamine, two different precursors were obtained by anchoring three or six alkoxysilane units, via a thiol-ene photoaddition reaction. In both cases, spherical, microparticles (size average of ca. 1000 nm) with large pores were obtained, confirmed by both, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Particles synthesized using the partially functionalized precursor containing free vinyl groups were further functionalized with a thiol-containing molecule. While most other reported mesoporous organosilica particles are essentially hybrids with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), a unique feature of these particles is that structural control is achieved by exclusively using organosilane precursors. This allows an increase in the proportion of the co-components and could springboard these novel phosphorus-containing organosilica microparticles for different areas of technology.

Abstract
The widespread use of nuclear power poses severe health and environmental risks owing to the nonregulated release and disposal of radioactive wastes in the environment. Among these wastes, the capture and removal of radioactive iodine poses a big challenge. To develop a novel material for capturing molecular iodine, we have strategically synthesized a nitrogen-rich three-dimensional (3D) metal-organic framework (MOF), {[Mn2(oxdz)2(tpbn)(H2O)2]·2C2H5OH}n (1), utilizing a bent heterocyclic dicarboxylate linker (H2oxdz: (4,4'-(1,3,4-oxadiazole-2,5-diyl)dibenzoic acid)) and a flexible bis(tridentate) ligand (tpbn: N, N', N″, N‴-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4-diaminobutane). Based on its single-crystal structure, 1 is an eightfold interpenetrated 3D framework, consisting of a unique 4-connected {Mn2(tpbn)} subunit, in which the pores line up with the nitrogen atoms of the oxadiazole moiety. This can be considered as a big leap for the development of 3D MOFs using flexible bis(tridentate) ligands. To emphasize the role of the flexible methylene chain length in such ligand in the dimensionality of the resultant framework, the tphn (N, N', N″, N‴-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,6-diaminohexane) ligand with two additional methylene groups provides a one-dimensional (1D) CP {[Mn2(oxdz)2(tphn)(H2O)]·CH3OH}n (2). This spacer chain lengthening has a profound effect on the coordination of such ligand with Mn(II), further affecting the binding of oxdz. The inherent polarizable nature of the oxadiazole moiety and the presence of permanent pore of dimensions (19.122 × 19.253 Å2) in 1 have been exploited for the capture/removal of iodine not only from vapor and an organic solution but also from an aqueous media. It exhibits competent 100% reversible sorption of iodine with an uptake capacity of (1.1 ± 0.05) g/g of 1. The uptake value has been corroborated by both gravimetric and titrimetric analyses. The interaction of iodine with 1 has been notably studied with molecular simulations, kinetic models of sorption, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis. Moreover, 1 is highly stable and is recyclable without much loss of sorption capability up to five cycles.

Abstract
The present work describes the preparation of a new covalent organic polymer (COP) and its application as a hetero support for diaryl selenides synthesis. A nitrogen rich COP (CGP) has been synthesized via SNAr reaction of cyanuric chloride with guanidinium hydrochloride. The successful confinement of COP with Ni nanoparticles through post-synthetic transformations (Ni@CGP) provides excellent catalytic activity for the transformation of aryl halides into diaryl selenides using elemental selenium powder. The synthetic transformations are well confirmed using various modern analytical and spectroscopic techniques which reveal high chemical and thermal durability. The N-rich framework of CGP fortifies the confinement of Ni NPs. Ni@CGP provides an efficient approach for diaryl selenides synthesis using a very cheap selenating reagent under water benign solvent conditions (DMSO : H2O) at room temperature with high reusability. Significantly, our work not only contributes the opportunity for developing economical and effective non-noble metal decorated COPs as heterogeneous catalysts, but also delivers an efficient approach to produce industrially important C-Se coupling products.

Abstract
A viologen-based porous organic polymer, POP-V-VI, was designed and synthesized by a facile nucleophilic substitution between cyanuric chloride and 1,2-bis(4-pyridinium) ethylene. Together with the reported POP-V-BPY with a similar structure, these viologen-based porous organic polymers bear high charge density, phenyl ring and nitrogenous affinity sites, which endow them with excellent iodine vapor uptake capacity (4860 mg g-1 for POP-V-VI and 4200 mg g-1 for POP-V-BPY) and remarkably high adsorption capacity for pyridine (4470 mg g-1 for POP-V-VI and 8880 mg g-1 for POP-V-BPY) and other aliphatic amines. POP-V-VI and POP-V-BPY could be efficiently recycled and reused three times without significant loss of iodine vapor uptake. All these results demonstrate that POP-V-VI and POP-V-BPY are promising adsorbents for practical applications in portable devices such as gas masks.

Fe 3O 4 Nanoparticle/N-Doped Carbon Hierarchically Hollow Microspheres for Broadband and High-Performance Microwave Absorption at an Ultralow Filler Loading. Abstract
Although the existing Fe3O4-based microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) have shown promising microwave absorbing (MA) capacity, it is highly desired but still remains a great challenge to achieve strong minimum reflection loss (RLmin) and broad effective frequency bandwidth (fe) at an ultralow filler loading. Herein, for the first time, by carbonizing hierarchical poly(urea-formaldehyde) microcapsules with Fe3O4 nanoparticle cores in a nitrogen atmosphere, Fe3O4 hybrid and N-doped hollow carbon microspheres (Fe3O4/CMs) with a hierarchical micro/nanostructure are prepared on a large scale and at a low cost to achieve extremely superior MA performances. Benefitting from their unique structure and diverse composition, which synergetically contribute to good impedance matching, strong dielectric/magnetic loss, and abundant multiscattering/reflection, Fe3O4/CM composites possessed a RLmin value reaching -60.3 dB and an fe of as broad as 6.4 GHz (7.2-13.6 GHz, covering the full X-band) at an ultralow filler loading of 10 wt % in paraffin wax, which are significantly superior to those of the previously reported state-of-the-art Fe3O4-based or hollow MAMs. Furthermore, the fe can be adjusted in the range of 4.5-18 GHz, covering 85% of the whole measured frequency range, via changing the thickness between 2.5 and 5.5 mm. This work offers new insights for developing advanced lightweight MAMs with strong absorption and a broad absorbing frequency range at a low filler loading.

Abstract
In this work, two multifunctional conjugated microporous polymers (CMP-LS7-8) were obtained via the Pd-catalyzed Suzuki coupling reactions of 2,4,6-tris(4-bromophenyl)pyridine with two aromatic borates. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface areas of CMP-LS7-8 were calculated to be 507 and 2028 m2 g-1. CMP-LS7-8 exhibit excellent volatile iodine adsorption about 2.77 and 5.29 g g-1, respectively, and outstanding reversible adsorption. High adsorption capacity should be attributed to an integrated effect by excellent porous characteristics, effective sorption sites, and expanded π-conjugated network. In addition, this platform integrated two functions of sensing and adsorption of tetracycline (TC) into one material. The excellent luminescence of CMP-LS7-8 can be effectively quenched by TC, which demonstrates they can be acted as new sensitive and selective fluorescence probes toward TC. Simultaneously, CMP-LS7-8 also display high adsorption ability of TC. The adsorption kinetics of TC suggested that the process of adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order model, and the adsorption behaviour of these polymers fitted with the Langmuir model. These results suggest that CMP-LS7-8 posess high volatile iodine capture and exceptional TC detection and removal performance, which can be promising candidates for environmental remediation.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) porous polymers have demonstrated great potential in gas capture and surface catalysis as well as energy storage and conversion. Current synthesis of 2D porous polymers strongly depends on the usage of templates or an additional exfoliation process. The resultant products have uncontrollable morphology and structure, low structure integrity, and relatively low yield. Herein, a facile and high-throughput solvent-induced polymerization strategy to prepare ultrathin free-standing 2D porous hyper-cross-linked polymer nanosheets with large surface area and high sulfur content by cross-linking steric hexakis(benzylthio)benzene and thiophene is reported. Using this approach, the morphologies (nanosheets and nanotubes) and specific surface areas (658-1150 m2 g-1) of porous hyper-cross-linked polymers can be simply tailored by adjusting the cross-linking degree between monomers. The as-synthesized porous hyper-cross-linked polymer nanotubes exhibit promising iodine capture performance, including a superior iodine uptake capacity (∼270 wt %) and a rapid equilibrium adsorption (within 60 min). This method will pave a new avenue for the synthesis of advanced 2D porous polymers for various applications.

Carbazole-Bearing Porous Organic Polymers with a Mulberry-Like Morphology for Efficient Iodine Capture. ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 2019; 11:27335-27342. Abstract
Three kinds of carbazole-based porous organic polymers were successfully prepared via simple Friedel-Crafts alkylation of 1,3,5-tri(9-carbazolyl)-benzene. External cross-linking agents named 1,4-bis(chloromethyl)-benzene, cyanuric chloride, and 1,4-dimethoxybenzene were selected, and the derived polymers (denoted as CSU-CPOPs-1, CSU-CPOPs-2, and CSU-CPOPs-3) gave high surface areas (up to 1032 m2/g) and good stability. Interestingly, varying the nature of "knitting" agents led to an unprecedented morphology evolution, and it is worth noting that a mulberry-like morphology was observed for the case of 1,4-bis(chloromethyl)-benzene. Taking advantage of the unique mulberry-like morphology as well as abundant porosity, CSU-CPOPs-1 showed ultrahigh iodine vapor adsorption performance with a capacity of 494 wt % at 348 K and 1 bar, which is the highest value reported to date for amorphous polymers. This study presented a feasible way to develop efficient iodine sorbents with tunable morphologies for addressing environmental issues.
