Abstract
We report a two-step sequence for the enantioselective construction of a rare family of stable C(sp2)─C(sp3) atropisomers featuring two additional stereogenic centers. The process begins with an organocatalyzed dihydrobenzofurannulation that establishes and controls the stereochemistry of two carbon centers, followed by a highly diastereoselective functionalization that significantly enhances the barrier to diastereomerization of the C(sp2)─C(sp3) bond, effectively locking and stabilizing its configuration.

Abstract
An efficient catalytic asymmetric olefin isomerization of axially chiral methylene dihydrofuran-benzimidazoles via kinetic resolution is reported. Under mild phase-transfer catalysis, axially chiral furan-benzimidazole compounds and recovered methylene dihydrofuran-benzimidazoles were obtained in high ee. The combination of the kinetic resolution and TBD-catalyzed isomerization of recovered dihydrofuran-benzimidazoles provided access to both enantiomers of furan-benzimidazoles. Deuterium-labeling experiments reveal intramolecular [1,3]-H transfer mechanism. The utility of this method was demonstrated by scale-up synthesis and functionalization of the products.

Abstract
With the rapid advancements in asymmetric catalysis, there is a growing need for the asymmetric selective synthesis of complex and diverse molecules with chiral axes. Axially chiral molecules are not only present in natural products and drugs but also in specialized chiral ligands and catalysts. The catalytic asymmetric synthesis of axially chiral molecules has garnered significant attention within the chemical community. To date, two asymmetric catalytic methods have been established for the synthesis of biaxially chiral molecules: transition-metal catalysis and asymmetric organocatalysis. This feature article presents a summary of the research progress made in the field of asymmetric selective synthesis of biaxially chiral molecules. This review focuses on the reaction range, limitations, and reaction mechanism of the biaxially chiral molecular synthesis method, as well as the contribution and advantages of this method in the preparation of various axially chiral compounds.

Abstract
Axial chirality is present in a variety of naturally occurring compounds, and is becoming increasingly relevant also in medicine. Many axially chiral compounds are important as catalysts in asymmetric catalysis or have chiroptical properties. This review overviews recent progress in the synthesis of axially chiral compounds via asymmetric organocatalysis. Atroposelective organocatalytic reactions are discussed according to the dominant catalyst activation mode. For covalent organocatalysis, the typical enamine and iminium modes are presented, followed by N-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed reactions. The bulk of the review is devoted to non-covalent activation, where chiral Brønsted acids feature as the most prolific catalytic structure. The last part of the article discusses hydrogen-bond-donating catalysts and other catalyst motifs such as phase-transfer catalysts.

Abstract
The enantioselective synthesis of chiral compounds containing multiple stereogenic elements via a single catalytic step is a challenging process. In the presence of α-chloronitrostyrenes and a chiral squaramide catalyst, C-C or C-N pro-axially chiral 2-naphthol substrates, featuring low barriers to enantiomerization, underwent a remote diastereo- and enantioselective domino Michael/O-alkylation. It provided the desired benzodihydrofurans bearing two stereogenic carbon atoms and a configurationally stable C-C or a C-N bond, thanks to a high increase of the barrier to rotation upon dihydrofurannulation.

Abstract
Catalytic enantioselective preparation of alkene atropisomers with multiple stereogenic elements and discovery of their applications have become significant but challenging issues in the scientific community due to the unique structures of this class of atropisomers. We herein report the first catalytic atroposelective preparation of cyclopentenyl[b]indoles, a new kind of alkene atropisomers, with stereogenic point and axial chirality via an unusual rearrangement reaction of 3-indolylmethanols under asymmetric organocatalysis. Notably, this novel type of alkene atropisomers have promising applications in developing chiral ligands or organocatalysts, discovering antitumor drug candidates and fluorescence imaging materials. Moreover, the theoretical calculations have elucidated the possible reaction mechanism and the non-covalent interactions to control the enantioselectivity. This approach offers a new synthetic strategy for alkene atropisomers with multiple stereogenic elements, and represents the first catalytic enantioselective rearrangement reaction of 3-indolylmethanols, which will advance the chemistry of atropisomers and chiral indole chemistry.

Abstract
A four-component Ugi reaction is described for the stereoselective synthesis of novel C-N atropisomeric peptide analogues. Using this approach, a combination of simple, readily available starting materials (ortho-substituted anilines, aldehydes, carboxylic acids and isocyanides) could be combined to access complex products possessing both central and axial chirality in up to 92% yield and >95 : 5 d.r. Variation of the reaction temperature enabled the development of stereodivergent reactions capable of selectively targeting either diastereoisomer of a desired product from a single set of starting materials with high levels of stereocontrol. Detailed experimental and computational studies have been performed to probe the reaction mechanism and stereochemical outcome of these reactions. Preliminary studies show that novel atropisomeric scaffolds prepared using this method display inhibitory activity against M. tuberculosis with a significant difference in activity observed between different atropisomers.

Abstract
Distal biaxial atropisomers are typical structures in chiral catalysts and ligands and offer a wide variety of applications in biology and materials technology, but the development of efficient synthesis of these valuable scaffolds is still in great demand. Herein, we describe a highly efficient iridium catalyzed asymmetric C-H alkylation reaction that provides a range of new distal biaxial atropisomers with excellent yields (up to 99%) and stereoselectivity (up to 99% ee and essentially one isomer). Based on this unprecedented strategy, a polycyclic skeleton with five successive chiral centers as well as C-C and C-N (or N-N) two distal chiral axes was created successfully in mild circumstances. In addition, the optically pure products bearing fluorophores show circular polarized luminescence (CPL) properties, being potential candidate materials for CPL applications.

Abstract
The construction of atropisomers with 1,2-diaxes, while maintaining high enantiocontrol, presents a significant challenge due to the dynamic nature of steric hindrance at ortho-aryl substituents. Although various catalytic asymmetric methods have been developed for accessing axially chiral arylpyrroles, the synthesis of axially chiral arylpyrroles with 1,2-diaxes in a catalytic asymmetric manner has remained rare. Herein, the authors report the synthesis of diverse axially chiral arylpyrroles with 1,2-diaxes, and C-C and C-N axes through copper-catalysed asymmetirc [4 + 1] annulation of yne-allylic esters with arylamines via a remote stereocontrol strategy. This approach provides facile access to a broad range of heterobiaryl atropisomers (67 examples) in excellent enantioselectivities, each bearing one or two C-C/C-N axes, demonstrating its versatility and efficiency. The utility of this methodology is further highlighted by the transformation of the product into chiral phosphine ligand, and chiral thioureas for the use in asymmetric catalysis.

Abstract
C - N axially chiral compounds have recently attracted significant interest among synthetic chemistry community due to their widespread application in pharmaceuticals, advanced materials and organic synthesis. Although the emerging asymmetric Catellani reaction offers great opportunity for their modular and efficient preparation, the only operative chiral NBE strategy to date requires using half stoichiometric amount of chiral NBE and 2,6-disubstituted bromoarenes as electrophiles. We herein report an efficient assembly of C-N axially chiral scaffolds through a distinct chiral ligand strategy. The crucial chiral source, a biimidazoline (BiIM) chiral dinitrogen ligand, is used in relatively low loading and permits the use of less bulky bromoarenes. The method also features the use of feedstock plain NBE, high reactivity, good enantioselectivity, ease of operation and scale-up. Applications in the preparation of chiral optoelectronic material candidates featuring two C-N chiral axes and a chiral ligand for asymmetric C-H activation have also been demonstrated.

Abstract
In the chemistry community, catalytic asymmetric synthesis of furan-based compounds bearing both axial and central chirality has proven to be a significant but challenging issue owing to the importance and difficulty in constructing such frameworks. In this work, we have realized the first catalytic asymmetric synthesis of five-five-membered furan-based compounds bearing both axial and central chirality via organocatalytic asymmetric (2+4) annulation of achiral furan-indoles with 2,3-indolyldimethanols with uncommon regioselectivity. By this strategy, furan-indole compounds bearing both axial and central chirality were synthesized in high yields with excellent regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselectivities. Moreover, theoretical calculations were conducted to provide an in-depth understanding of the reaction pathway, activation mode, and the origin of the selectivity.

Abstract
With the rapid development of asymmetric catalysis, the demand for the enantioselective synthesis of complex and diverse molecules with different chiral elements is increasing. Owing to the unique features of atropisomerism, the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of atropisomers has attracted a considerable interest from the chemical science community. In particular, introducing additional chiral elements, such as carbon centered chirality, heteroatomic chirality, planar chirality, and helical chirality, into atropisomers provides an opportunity to incorporate new properties into axially chiral compounds, thus expanding the potential applications of atropisomers. Thus, it is important to perform catalytic asymmetric transformations to synthesize atropisomers bearing multiple chiral elements. In spite of challenges in such transformations, in recent years, chemists have devised powerful strategies under asymmetric organocatalysis or metal catalysis, synthesizing a wide range of enantioenriched atropisomers bearing multiple chiral elements. Therefore, the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of atropisomers bearing multiple chiral elements has become an emerging field. This review summarizes the rapid progress in this field and indicates challenges, thereby promoting this field to a new horizon.

Abstract
The chiral framework based on 11-aminomefloquine has been utilized for the first time to construct bifunctional organocatalysts. These catalysts demonstrate high enantioselectivity in both Michael additions and Friedel-Crafts reactions across a variety of substrates, achieving up to >99% ee. The distinctive feature is the incorporation of a secondary amine group, offering unique tight hydrogen-bonding capabilities in the protonated state, as supported by DFT computation. The diversity of these organocatalysts suggests their broad applicability across multiple reaction classes.

Abstract
Alongside enantioselective catalysis, synthetic chemists are often confronted by the challenge of achieving catalyst control over the relative configuration to stereodivergently access desired diastereomers. Typically, these approaches iteratively or simultaneously control multiple stereogenic units for which dual catalytic methods comprising sequential, relay, and synergistic catalysis emerged as particularly efficient strategies. In this Perspective, the benefits and challenges of catalyst-controlled diastereodivergence in the construction of carbon stereocenters are discussed on the basis of illustrative examples. The concepts are then transferred to diastereodivergent catalysis for atropisomeric systems with twofold and higher-order stereogenicity as well as diastereodivergent catalyst control over E- and Z-configured alkenes.

Abstract
Atropisomeric molecules are present in many natural products, biologically active compounds, chiral ligands and catalysts. Many elegant methodologies have been developed to access axially chiral molecules. Among them, organocatalytic cycloaddition and cyclization have attracted much attention because they have been widely used in the asymmetric synthesis of biaryl/heterobiaryls atropisomers via construction of carbo- and hetero-cycles. This strategy has undoubtedly become and will continue to be a hot topic in the field of asymmetric synthesis and catalysis. This review aims to highlight the recent advancements in this field of atropisomer synthesis by using different organocatalysts in cycloaddition and cyclization strategies. The construction of each atropisomer, its possible mechanism, the role of catalysts, and its potential applications are illustrated.

Abstract
Chiral trifluoromethyl alcohol groups were introduced at the hindered ortho positions of 9,10-diphenylanthracenes to investigate their effects on the physical properties and reactivity towards oxidative dearomatization. In such compact structures, the position in different quadrants and the preferred orientation of the -CH(OH)CF3 groups were determined by the relative and absolute configurations of each stereoisomer, respectively. As a consequence, the stereochemistry governs the organization of the H-bonded molecules in single crystals (homochiral dimers vs ribbon), whereas in chlorinated solvents, they all behave as discrete compounds. Concerning their reactivity, the stereospecific dearomative oxidation of these molecules leads to 9,10-bis-spiro-isobenzofuran-anthracenes, when using organic single-electron transfer oxidants. The chiroptical properties of the alcohols and the corresponding dearomatized products were compared and showed an important modulation of the intensity.

Abstract
Axially chiral molecules bearing multiple stereogenic axes are of great importance in the field of organic chemistry. However, the efficient construction of atropisomers featuring two different types of stereogenic axes has rarely been explored. Herein, we report the novel atroposelective synthesis of configurationally stable axially chiral B,N-heterocycles. By using stepwise asymmetric allylic substitution-isomerization (AASI) strategy, diaxially chiral B,N-heterocycles bearing B-C and C-N axes that are related to the moieties of axially chiral enamines and arylborons were also obtained. In this case, all four stereoisomers of diaxially chiral B,N-heterocycles were stereodivergently afforded in high enantioselectivities. Density functional theory (DFT) studies demonstrated that the NH⋅⋅⋅π interactions played a unique role in the promotion of stereospecific isomerization, thereby leading to the highly efficient central-to-axial chirality transfer.

Abstract
The straightforward construction of polysubstituted arenes is essential in both synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Herein, we reported a DBU promoted Michael addition/cyclization/elimination cascade reaction between vinylogous malononitrile derivatives and chlorinated nitrostyrenes for the synthesis of polysubstituted arenes. The method features mild reaction conditions, wide substrate scope and high yield. Interestingly, preliminary study of the enantioselective version of this cascade was conducted to give chiral biaryl atropisomers with up to 40% ee through center-to-axial chirality transfer strategy.

Abstract
Simultaneous control over the configuration of multiple stereocenters is accomplished by numerous catalytic methods, providing a reliable basis for the synthesis of stereochemically complex targets in isomerically defined form. In contrast, addressing the configurations of multiple stereogenic axes with diastereodivergent catalyst control is thus far only possible by stepwise approaches. Herein we now describe that all four stereoisomers of atropisomeric two-axis systems are directly tractable by assembling a central aromatic unit of teraryls through an arene-forming aldol condensation. By using cinchona alkaloid-based ion-pairing catalysts, the four feasible reaction pathways are differentiated from identical substrates under defined basic conditions without preactivation, thus enabling complete stereodivergence with enantioselectivities of up to 99 : 1 e.r.

Abstract
The axially chiral indole-aryl motifs are present in natural products and biologically active compounds as well as in chiral ligands. Atroposelective indole formation is an efficient method to construct indole-based biaryls. We report herein the result of a chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed asymmetric cycloaddition of 3-alkynylindoles with azonaphthalenes. A class of indole-based biaryls were prepared efficiently with excellent yields and enantioselectivities (up to 98% yield, 99% ee). Control experiment and DFT calculations illustrate a possible mechanism in which the reaction proceeds via a dearomatization of indole to generate an allene-iminium intermediate, followed by an intramolecular aza-Michael addition. This approach provides a convergent synthetic strategy for enantioselective construction of axially chiral heterobiaryl backbones. There is great interest in methods for catalytic enantioselective construction of axially chiral compounds found in natural products. Here, the authors develop a cycloaddition strategy for atroposelective construction of indole-based biaryls via chiral phosphoric acid-catalysed cycloaddition.

Abstract
The asymmetric construction of chiral spiroenones bearing both axial and spiro-central chirality has been established for the first time by a central-to-spiro chirality transfer and a central-to-axial chirality conversion from chiral 2,3-diarylbenzoindolines. Mechanistic studies indicate the hydrogen bonds play important roles in this process, providing an efficient strategy for enantioselective construction of spirocyclic backbones via simultaneously controlling spiro-central and axial chirality in one operation.

Abstract
The first chiral phosphoric acid (CPA) catalyzed cycloaddition–elimination cascade reaction of 2-naphthol- and phenol-derived enecarbamates with azonaphthalenes has been established, providing a highly atroposelective route to an array of axially chiral aryl-C3-benzoindoles in excellent yields with excellent enantioselectivities. The success of this strategy derives from the stepwise process involving CPA-catalyzed asymmetric formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition and subsequent central-to-axial chirality conversion by elimination of a carbamate. In addition, the practicality of this reaction had been verified by varieties of transformations towards functionalized atropisomers. An organocatalytic asymmetric cycloaddition–elimination cascade reaction of aryl enecarbamates with azonaphthalenes has been developed to access axially chiral heterobiaryls in excellent yields and enantioselectivities.![]()

Abstract
Enantiodivergent one-pot synthesis of biaryls was developed using a catalytic amount of a single chiral source. A domino organocatalyst-mediated enantioselective Michael reaction and aldol condensation provided centrally chiral dihydronaphthalenes with excellent enantioselectivity, from which an enantiodivergent chirality conversion from central-to-axial chirality was achieved. Both enantiomers of biaryls were obtained with excellent enantioselectivity. All transformations can be conducted in a single reaction vessel. A plausible reaction mechanism for the enantiodivergence is proposed.

Abstract
Contradictory to the first intuitive impression that forging putatively flat aromatic rings evades stereoisomerism, a striking variety of atropisomeric compounds are conceivable by the formation of arenes, offering captivating avenues for catalyst-controlled stereoselective strategies. Since the assembled atropisomeric products that contain one or several rotationally restricted single bonds are characterized by especially well defined molecular architectures, they are distinctly suitable for numerous pertinent applications. In view of the fascinating arene-forming aldol condensation pathways taking place in polyketide biosynthesis (cyclases/aromatases (CYC/ARO)), the versatile small-molecule-catalyzed aldol reaction appeared as an exceptionally appealing synthetic means to prepare various unexplored atropisomeric compounds in our efforts presented herein. In our initial studies, the use of secondary amine organocatalysts provided excellent selectivities in stereoselective arene-forming aldol condensations for a broad range of atropisomeric products, such as biaryls and rotationally restricted aromatic amides. In further analogy to polyketide biosynthesis, it was also conceivable that several aromatic rings are formed in catalytic cascade reactions. The use of small-molecule catalysts thereby enabled us to transfer this concept to the conversion of unnatural and noncanonical polyketide substrates, thus giving access to atropisomers with particular value for synthetic applications. The versatility of the stereoselective aldol reactions with numerous catalytic activation modes further provided a strategy to individually control several stereogenic axes, similar to the various methodologies developed for controlling stereocenter configurations. By the use of iterative building block additions combined with catalyst-controlled aldol reactions to form the aromatic rings, stereodivergent pathways for catalyst-substrate-matched and -mismatched products were obtained. Besides secondary amines, cinchona-alkaloid-based quaternary ammonium salts also proved to be highly efficient in overcoming severe substrate bias. The obtained atropisomeric multiaxis systems, with all of the biaryl bonds suitably restricted in rotation even at high temperatures, are spatially distinctly defined. The helical secondary structure is therefore excellently suited for several captivating applications. While previous catalyst-controlled stereoselective methods distinguish two stereoisomers for each stereogenic unit, catalyst control beyond the realms of this dualistic stereoisomerism remained unexplored. By the selective preparation of O̅ki atropisomers characterized by their sixfold stereogenicity in Rh-catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] cyclotrimerizations, one out of the six possible stereoisomers resulting from the restricted rotation of a single bond was shown to be catalytically addressable. Catalyst control over higher-order stereogenicity therefore further interconnects conformational analysis and stereoselective catalysis and offers captivating avenues to explore uncharted stereochemical space for creating a broad range of unprecedented molecular motifs.

Abstract
Herein, we report a modular and convergent strategy for the assembly of atropisomeric o-terphenyls with 1,2-diaxes via palladium/chiral norbornene cooperative catalysis and axial-to-axial diastereoinduction. Readily available aryl iodides, 2,6-substituted aryl bromides, and potassium aryl trifluoroborates are used as the building blocks, laying the foundation for diversity-oriented synthesis of these scaffolds (46 examples). Other features include the unique axial-to-axial diastereoinduction mode, construction of two axes in a single operation, and step economy. DFT calculations are performed to rationalize the axial-to-axial diastereoinduction process. Synthetic utilities of this method in preparation of atropisomeric oligophenyls, chiral catalysts, and ligands are demonstrated.

Abstract
The sequential acylative kinetic resolution (KR) of C2-symmetric (±)-1,2-syn and (±)-1,3-anti-diols using a packed bed microreactor loaded with the polystyrene-supported isothiourea, HyperBTM, is demonstrated in flow. The sequential KRs of C2-symmetric (±)-1,2-syn and (±)-1,3-anti-diols exploits Horeau amplification, with each composed of two successive KR processes, with each substrate class significantly differing in the relative rate constants for each KR process. Optimisation of the continuous flow set-up for both C2-symmetric (±)-1,2-syn and (±)-1,3-anti-diol substrate classes allowed isolation of reaction products in both high enantiopurity and yield. In addition to the successful KR of C2-symmetric (±)-1,2-syn and (±)-1,3-anti-diols, the application of this process to the more conceptually-complex scenario involving the sequential KR of C1-symmetric (±)-1,3-anti-diols was demonstrated, which involves eight independent rate constants.

Abstract
Atropisomerism is a stereochemical behavior portrayed by three-dimensional molecules that bear rotationally restricted σ bond. Akin to the well-represented point-chiral molecules, atropisomerically chiral compounds are finding increasing utilities in many disciplines where molecular asymmetry is influential. This provides steady demand on atroposelective synthesis, where numerous synthetic pursuits have been rewarded with conceptually novel and streamlined methods while expanding the structural diversity of atropisomers. This review summarizes key achievements in stereoselective preparation of biaryl, heterobiaryl, and nonbiaryl atropisomers documented between 2015 and 2020. Emphasis is placed on the synthetic strategies for each structural class, while examples are cited to illustrate the potential applications of the accessed atropochiral targets.

Abstract
A family of axially chiral quinazolinone-based heterobiaryls were constructed with high levels of enantiocontrol (up to 94% ee). Convergently, three different synthetic methods have been realized to prepare these valuable compounds including central-to-axial chirality transfer, dynamic kinetic resolution, and phase-transfer catalysis. Importantly, novel P,N-ligands with a π-π stacking can be derived from heterobiaryls by chirality exchange strategy or synthesized directly from complementary phase-transfer catalysis by using the inexpensive chiral quaternary ammonium salt.

Abstract
Central-to-axial chirality transfer via C-N single bond oxidation was first achieved as a versatile and conceptually distinct strategy to prepare a new family of axially chiral heteroaromatic biaryl backbones and P,N-ligands (named as Quinoxalinaps) in gram scale. Two atropisomers of Quinoxalinaps (ee >99%) were readily accessed from the same precursor enantiomer by a simple dehydrogenative oxidation with MnO2 and t-BuOOH under mild conditions. Phosphine could be introduced into the ligands before or after the chirality control process. Moreover, these Quinoxalinap P,N-ligands performed well for both asymmetric reactions of the CuBr-catalyzed alkyne conjugate addition with up to -94% ee and AgOAc-catalyzed glycinate imine [3 + 2] annulation with 90% ee, respectively.

Abstract
Spiro-annulation involving δ-acetoxy allenoate and alkyl benzoisothiazole dioxide (N-sulfonyl ketimine) triggered by DABCO/MeCO2H combination leads to an essentially single diastereomer via chemo- and regiospecific [4 + 2]-carboannulation and a new hydroxyl group is introduced. In contrast, DMAP-catalyzed benzannulation using the same reactants affords unsymmetrical m-teraryls via Mannich coupling, sequential proton transfers, and C-N bond cleavage. Here, δ-acetoxy allenoate serves as a 4C-synthon and the carboannulation is completely base dependent and mutually exclusive.

Abstract
The defined structure of molecules bearing multiple stereogenic axes is of increasing relevance to materials science, pharmaceuticals, and catalysis. However, catalytic enantioselective approaches to control multiple stereogenic axes remain synthetically challenging. We report the catalytic synthesis of two-axis terphenyl atropisomers, with complementary strategies to both chlorinated and brominated variants, formed with high diastereo- and enantioselectivity. The chemistry proceeds through a sequence of two distinct dynamic kinetic resolutions: first, an atroposelective ring opening of Bringmann-type lactones produces a product with one established axis of chirality, and second, a stereoselective arene halogenation delivers the product with the second axis of chirality established. In order to achieve these results, a class of Brønsted basic guanidinylated peptides, which catalyze an efficient atroposelective chlorination, is reported for the first time. In addition, a complementary bromination is reported, which also establishes the second stereogenic axis. These bromo-terphenyls are accessible following the discovery that chiral anion phase transfer catalysis by C2-symmetric phosphoric acids allows catalyst control in the second stereochemistry-determining event. Accordingly, we established the fully catalyst-controlled stereodivergent synthesis of all possible chlorinated stereoisomers while also demonstrating diastereodivergence in the brominated variants, with significant levels of enantioselectivity in all cases.

Abstract
An expedient synthesis of a new family of configurationally stable dioxa[6]helicenes was established using a sequential helicoselective organocatalyzed heteroannulation/eliminative aromatization via enantioenriched fused 2-nitro dihydrofurans featuring both central and helical chiralities. Starting from simple achiral precursors, a broad range of these previously unknown chiral heterocyclic scaffolds were obtained with good efficiency, and their aromatization proceeded with very high enantiopurity retention in most cases.

Abstract
Central-to-axial chirality conversion represents a fascinating class of chemical processes consisting of the destruction of stereogenic centers and the simultaneous installation of axial chiral elements, which provides efficient methods for the preparation of axially chiral compounds. Using the strategy, a wide range of axially chiral compounds, including biaryls, heterobiaryls, aromatic amides, allenes and vinyl arenes, have been synthesized with high efficiency and excellent enantioselectivity. In addition, central-to-axial chirality conversion strategy has been applied to the synthesis of natural products. The strategy has undoubtedly become and will continue to be a hot research topic in the field of asymmetric catalysis and synthesis. In this minireview, we selected some examples to introduce the developments and trends in the central-to-axial chirality conversion strategy up to April 2020.
