Abstract
In recent years, colloidal lead halide perovskite (LHP) nanocrystals (NCs) have exhibited such intriguing light absorption properties to be contemplated as promising candidates for photocatalytic conversions. However, for effective photocatalysis, the light harvesting system needs to be stable under the reaction conditions propaedeutic to a specific transformation. Unlike photoinduced oxidative reaction pathways, photoreductions with LHP NCs are challenging due to their scarce compatibility with common hole scavengers like amines and alcohols. In this contribution, it is investigated the potential of CsPbBr3 NCs protected by a suitably engineered bidentate ligand for the photoreduction of quinone species. Using an in situ approach for the construction of the passivating agent and a halide excess environment, quantum-confined nanocubes (average edge length = 6.0 ± 0.8 nm) are obtained with a low ligand density (1.73 ligand/nm2) at the NC surface. The bifunctional adhesion of the engineered ligand boosts the colloidal stability of the corresponding NCs, preserving their optical properties also in the presence of an amine excess. Despite their relatively short exciton lifetime (τAV = 3.7 ± 0.2 ns), these NCs show an efficient fluorescence quenching in the presence of the selected electron accepting quinones (1,4-naphthoquinone, 9,10-phenanthrenequinone, and 9,10-anthraquinone). All of these aspects demonstrate the suitability of the NCs for an efficient photoreduction of 1,4-naphthoquinone to 1,4-dihydroxynaphthalene in the presence of triethylamine as a hole scavenger. This chemical transformation is impracticable with conventionally passivated LHP NCs, thereby highlighting the potential of the surface functionalization in this class of nanomaterials for exploring new photoinduced reactivities.

Abstract
CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) employed as a photocatalyst resulted in efficient benzylamine oxidation under oxygen atmosphere. Improved reaction yields stem from favorable -NH2 functional group interactions on the NC surface, while additional interactions with -OMe or -SMe functional groups post-product formation result in lower yields. These insights into interfacial interactions and mechanistic aspects advance sustainable chemical transformations through cost-effective and recyclable CsPbBr3 NC-catalyzed primary amine oxidation.

Abstract
The success of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) in science and optoelectronics is inextricable from their surfaces. The functionalization of lead halide perovskite NCs1-5 poses a formidable challenge because of their structural lability, unlike the well-established covalent ligand capping of conventional semiconductor NCs6,7. We posited that the vast and facile molecular engineering of phospholipids as zwitterionic surfactants can deliver highly customized surface chemistries for metal halide NCs. Molecular dynamics simulations implied that ligand-NC surface affinity is primarily governed by the structure of the zwitterionic head group, particularly by the geometric fitness of the anionic and cationic moieties into the surface lattice sites, as corroborated by the nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy data. Lattice-matched primary-ammonium phospholipids enhance the structural and colloidal integrity of hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites (FAPbBr3 and MAPbBr3 (FA, formamidinium; MA, methylammonium)) and lead-free metal halide NCs. The molecular structure of the organic ligand tail governs the long-term colloidal stability and compatibility with solvents of diverse polarity, from hydrocarbons to acetone and alcohols. These NCs exhibit photoluminescence quantum yield of more than 96% in solution and solids and minimal photoluminescence intermittency at the single particle level with an average ON fraction as high as 94%, as well as bright and high-purity (about 95%) single-photon emission.

Abstract
The remarkable catalytic potential of perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) remains underutilized due to their limited stability in polar media, resulting from the vulnerability of their structure to disruption by polar solvents. In this study, we address this challenge by employing the bolaamphiphilic NKE-12 ligand, which features multiple denticities to effectively shield the surface of CsPbBr3 NCs from polar solvent interactions without compromising their light-harvesting properties. Our research, utilizing electrochemical impedance and photocurrent response measurements, highlights efficient charge separation and charge transfer enabled by NKE-12 ligands, which feature multiple ionic groups and peptide bonds, compared to conventional oleylamine/oleic acid ligands on CsPbBr3 NCs. Through the utilization of purely ligand-derived water-dispersed CsPbBr3/NKE-12 NCs, we successfully showcased their photocatalytic activity for acrylamide polymerization. A series of control experiments unveil a radical-based reaction pathway and suggest the synergistic involvement of photogenerated electrons and holes in producing the O2·- and OH· free radicals, respectively. Our findings emphasize the crucial role of ligand engineering in stabilizing perovskites in water and harnessing their exceptional photocatalytic attributes. This study opens new avenues for applying perovskite NCs in various catalytic processes in polar media.

Abstract
Heterogeneous photocatalysts incorporating metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have garnered significant attention due to their remarkable attributes: strong visible-light absorption, tuneable band energy levels, rapid charge transfer, and defect tolerance. Additionally, the promising optical and electronic properties of MHP nanocrystals can be harnessed for photocatalytic applications through controlled crystal structure engineering, involving composition tuning via metal ion and halide ion variations, dimensional tuning, and surface chemistry modifications. Combination of perovskites with other materials can improve the photoinduced charge separation and charge transfer, building heterostructures with different band alignments, such as type-II, Z-scheme, and Schottky heterojunctions, which can fine-tune redox potentials of the perovskite for photocatalytic organic reactions. This review delves into the activation of organic molecules through charge and energy transfer mechanisms. The review further investigates the impact of crystal engineering on photocatalytic activity, spanning a diverse array of organic transformations, such as C-X bond formation (X = C, N, and O), [2 + 2] and [4 + 2] cycloadditions, substrate isomerization, and asymmetric catalysis. This study provides insights to propel the advancement of metal halide perovskite-based photocatalysts, thereby fostering innovation in organic chemical transformations.

Abstract
Carbon-carbon (C-C) coupling of organic halides has been successfully achieved in homogeneous catalysis, while the limitation, e.g., the dependence on rare noble metals, complexity of the metal-ligand catalylst and the poor catalyst stability and recyclability, needs to be tackled for a green process. The past few years have witnessed heterogeneous photocatalysis as a green and novel method for organic synthesis processes. However, the study on C-C coupling of chloride substrates is rare due to the extremely high bond energy of C-Cl bond (327 kJ mol-1 ). Here, we report a robust heterogeneous photocatalyst (Cu/ZnO) to drive the homo-coupling of benzyl chloride with high efficiency, which achieves an unprecedented high selectivity of bibenzyl (93 %) and yield rate of 92 % at room temperature. Moreover, this photocatalytic process has been validated for C-C coupling of 10 benzylic chlorides all with high yields. In addition, the excellent stability has been observed for 8 cycles of reactions. With detailed characterization and DFT calculation, the high selectivity is attributed to the enhanced adsorption of reactants, stabilization of intermediates (benzyl radicals) for the selective coupling by the Cu loading and the moderate oxidation ability of the ZnO support, besides the promoted charge separation and transfer by Cu species.

Abstract
Despite the versatility of semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) in photoinduced chemical processes, the generation of stable radicals has been more challenging due to reverse charge transfer or charge recombination even in the presence of sacrificial charge acceptors. Here, we show that cesium lead halide (CsPbX3) NCs can selectively photogenerate either aminium or aminyl radicals from amines, taking advantage of the controllable imbalance of the electron and hole populations achieved by varying the solvent composition. Using dihalomethane as the solvent, irreversible removal of the electrons from CsPbX3 NCs enabled by the photoinduced halide exchange between the NCs and the dihalomethane resulted in efficient oxidative generation of the aminium radical. In the absence of dihalomethane in solvent, the availability of both electrons and holes resulted in the production of an aminyl radical via sequential hole transfer and reductive N-H bond dissociation. The negative charge of the halide ions on the NC's lattice surface appears to facilitate the aminyl radical production, competing favorably with the reversible charge transfer reverting to the reactant.

Abstract
We illustrate here the high photocatalytic activity of sustainable lead-free metal halide nanocrystals (NCs), namely, Cs3Sb2Br9 NCs, in the reduction of p-substituted benzyl bromides in the absence of a cocatalyst. The electronic properties of the benzyl bromide substituents and the substrate affinity to the NC surface determine the selectivity in C-C homocoupling under visible light irradiation. This photocatalyst can be reused for at least three cycles and preserves its good performance with a turnover number of ca. 105,000.

Abstract
Solar-energy-powered photocatalytic fuel production and chemical synthesis are widely recognized as viable technological solutions for a sustainable energy future. However, the requirement of high-performance photocatalysts is a major bottleneck. Halide perovskites, a category of diversified semiconductor materials with suitable energy-band-enabled high-light-utilization efficiencies, exceptionally long charge-carrier-diffusion-length-facilitated charge transport, and readily tailorable compositional, structural, and morphological properties, have emerged as a new class of photocatalysts for efficient hydrogen evolution, CO2 reduction, and various organic synthesis reactions. Despite the noticeable progress, the development of high-performance halide perovskite photocatalysts (HPPs) is still hindered by several key challenges: the strong ionic nature and high hydrolysis tendency induce instability and an unsatisfactory activity due to the need for a coactive component to realize redox processes. Herein, the recently developed advanced strategies to enhance the stability and photocatalytic activity of HPPs are comprehensively reviewed. The widely applicable stability enhancement strategies are first articulated, and the activity improvement strategies for fuel production and chemical synthesis are then explored. Finally, the challenges and future perspectives associated with the application of HPPs in efficient production of fuels and value-added chemicals are presented, indicating the irreplaceable role of the HPPs in the field of photocatalysis.

Abstract
Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have been regarded as a promising potential photocatalyst, owing to their high molar extinction coefficient, low economic cost, adjustable light absorption range, and ample surface active sites. However, the toxicity of lead and its inherent instability in water and polar solvents could hinder their wide application in the field of photocatalysis. Herein, with α-alkylation of aldehydes as a model reaction, C-C bond-forming is demonstrated in high yield by using lead-free double perovskite Cs2 AgSbCl6 NCs under visible light irradiation. Moreover, the photocatalytic performance is simply improved by rational control of the surface ligands and a reaction mechanism involving a radical intermediate is proposed. Although the stability requires further amelioration, the results indicate the enormous potential of lead-free double perovskite NC photocatalysts for organic synthesis and chemical transformations.

Abstract
The formation of oxide nanorolls decorated with nanotubes during anodic oxidation of amorphous Fe70Cr15B15 alloy in hydrophobic ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (IL) was revealed. The unusual architecture was observed for the first time on the surface of amorphous alloy. The generation of the novel type of nanostructure by electrochemical oxidation of the amorphous Fe70Cr15B15 alloy occurs only in hydrophobic ionic liquid and in the presence of the natural oxide film at the surface. Anodization of the oxide-free metal surface of the amorphous Fe70Cr15B15 alloy to be achieved by the treatment of the electrode with benzoic acid was found to result in no formation of both nanorolls and nanotubes. Electrochemical behavior of the amorphous Fe70Cr15B15 alloy in ionic liquid was proved to depend strongly on the state of the electrode surface before oxidation. The influence of the state of the surface of amorphous Fe70Cr15B15 alloy leading to the nanostructure formation was studied by means of preliminary partial etching with benzoic acid of various concentrations.

Abstract
This Communication describes the use of CuInS2 /ZnS quantum dots (QDs) as photocatalysts for the reductive deprotection of aryl sulfonyl-protected phenols. For a series of aryl sulfonates with electron-withdrawing substituents, the rate of deprotection for the corresponding phenyl aryl sulfonates increases with decreasing electrochemical potential for the two electron transfers within the catalytic cycle. The rate of deprotection for a substrate that contains a carboxylic acid, a known QD-binding group, is accelerated by more than a factor of ten from that expected from the electrochemical potential for the transformation, a result that suggests that formation of metastable electron donor-acceptor complexes provides a significant kinetic advantage. This deprotection method does not perturb the common NHBoc or toluenesulfonyl protecting groups and, as demonstrated with an estrone substrate, does not perturb proximate ketones, which are generally vulnerable to many chemical reduction methods used for this class of reactions.
