Abstract
The expansion of the Internet of Things market and the proliferation of wearable technologies have generated a significant demand for textile-based energy storage systems. This work reports the engineered design of hybrid electrode nanomaterials of N-doped carbon nanotubes (CNT-N) functionalized with two types of manganese oxides (MOs)-birnessite (MnO2) and hausmannite (Mn3O4)-and their application in solid-state textile-based hybrid supercapacitors (SCs). A versatile citric acid-mediated eco-friendly one-pot aqueous precipitation process is proposed for the fabrication of the hybrids. Remarkably, different types of MOs were obtained by simply changing the reaction temperature from room temperature to 100 °C, without any post-thermal treatment. Asymmetric textile SCs were developed using cotton fabrics coated with CNT-N and the hybrids as textile electrodes, and poly(vinyl) alcohol/orthophosphoric acid as the solid-gel electrolyte. The asymmetric devices presented enhanced energy storage performance relative to the symmetric device based on CNT-N and excellent cycling stability (>96%) after 8000 charge/discharge cycles owing to synergistic effects between CNT-N and the MOs, which endowed nonfaradaic and pseudocapacitive features to the SCs. The asymmetric SC based on CNT-N@MnO2 featured 47% higher energy density and comparable power density to the symmetric CNT-N-based device (8.70 W h cm-2 at 309.01 μW cm-2 vs. 5.93 W h cm-2 at 346.58 μW cm-2). The engineered hybrid CNT-N@MO nanomaterials and the eco-friendly citric acid-assisted one-pot precipitation route open promising prospects not only for energy storage, but also for (photo)(electro)catalysis, wastewater treatment, and (bio)sensing.

Abstract
Energy harvesting and storing by dual-functional photoenhanced (photo-E) energy storage devices are being developed to battle the current energy hassles. In this research work, our investigations on the photoinduced efficiency of germanane (Ge-H) and its functionalized analogue cyanoethyl (Ge-C2-CN) are assessed as photocathodes in photo-E hybrid zinc-ion capacitors (ZICs). The evaluated self-powered photodetector devices made by these germanene-based samples revealed effective performances in photogenerated electrons and holes. The photo-E ZICs findings provided a photoinduced capacitance enhancement of ∼52% (for Ge-H) and ∼26% (for Ge-C2-CN) at a scan rate of 10 mV s-1 under 100 mW cm-2 illumination with 435 nm wavelength. Further characterizations demonstrated that the photo-E ZIC with Ge-C2-CN supply higher specific capacitance (∼6000 mF g-1), energy density (∼550 mWh kg-1), and power density (∼31,000 mW kg-1), compared to the Ge-H. In addition, capacitance retention of photo-E ZIC with Ge-C2-CN is ∼91% after 3000 cycles which is almost 6% greater than Ge-H. Interestingly, the photocharging voltage response in photo-E ZIC made by Ge-C2-CN is 1000 mV, while the photocharging voltage response with Ge-H is approximately 970 mV. The observed performances in Ge-H-based photoactive cathodes highlight the pivotal role of such two-dimensional materials to be applied as single architecture in new unconventional energy storage systems. They are particularly noteworthy when compared to the other advanced photo-E supercapacitors and could even be enhanced greatly with other suitable inorganic and organic functional precursors.

Abstract
The spontaneous gelation of poly(4-vinyl pyridine)/pyridine solution produces materials with conductive properties that are suitable for various energy conversion technologies. The gel is a thermoelectric material with a conductivity of 2.2-5.0 × 10-6 S m-1 and dielectric constant ε = 11.3. On the molecular scale, the gel contains various types of hydrogen bonding, which are formed via self-protonation of the pyridine side chains. Our measurements and calculations revealed that the gelation process produces bias-dependent polymer complexes: quasi-symmetric, strongly hydrogen-bonded species, and weakly bound protonated structures. Under an applied DC bias, the gelled complexes differ in their capacitance/conductive characteristics. In this work, we exploited the bias-responsive characteristics of poly(4-vinyl pyridine) gelled complexes to develop a prototype of a thermal energy harvesting device. The measured device efficiency is S = ΔV/ΔT = 0.18 mV/K within the temperature range of 296-360 K. Investigation of the mechanism underlying the conversion of thermal energy into electric charge showed that the heat-controlled proton diffusion (the Soret effect) produces thermogalvanic redox reactions of hydrogen ions on the anode. The charge can be stored in an external capacitor for heat energy harvesting. These results advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying thermal energy conversion in the poly(4-vinyl pyridine)/pyridine gel. A device prototype, enabling thermal energy harvesting, successfully demonstrates a simple path toward the development of inexpensive, low-energy thermoelectric generators.

Abstract
The recent development of micro-fabrication technologies has provided new methods for researchers to design and fabricate micro metal coils, which will allow the coils to be smaller, lighter, and have higher performance than traditional coils. As functional components of electromagnetic equipment, micro metal coils are widely used in micro-transformers, solenoid valves, relays, electromagnetic energy collection systems, and flexible wearable devices. Due to the high integration of components and the requirements of miniaturization, the preparation of micro metal coils has received increasing levels of attention. This paper discusses the typical structural types of micro metal coils, which are mainly divided into planar coils and three-dimensional coils, and the characteristics of the different structures of coils. The specific preparation materials are also summarized, which provides a reference for the preparation process of micro metal coils, including the macro-fabrication method, MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) processing technology, the printing process, and other manufacturing technologies. Finally, perspectives on the remaining challenges and open opportunities are provided to help with future research, the development of the Internet of Things (IoTs), and engineering applications.
