Abstract
Due to their multidirectional influence, adipocytokines are currently the subject of numerous intensive studies. Significant impact applies to many processes, both physiological and pathological. Moreover, the role of adipocytokines in carcinogenesis seems particularly interesting and not fully understood. For this reason, ongoing research focuses on the role of these compounds in the network of interactions in the tumor microenvironment. Particular attention should be drawn to cancers that remain challenging for modern gynecological oncology-ovarian and endometrial cancer. This paper presents the role of selected adipocytokines, including leptin, adiponectin, visfatin, resistin, apelin, chemerin, omentin and vaspin in cancer, with a particular focus on ovarian and endometrial cancer, and their potential clinical relevance.

Abstract
Up to 40% of all adults worldwide are overweight or obese. Besides the established obesity-related comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension or NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), the focus of interest is shifting towards the influence of increased body weight as a risk factor for the development of malignant diseases. For more than 20 different types of malignancies, interactions between increased body weight and cancer risk have been established. Pathophysiological influences of obesity on carcinogenesis are diverse, including factors such as chronic inflammation, hyperinsulinaemia and insulin resistance, various changes in growth factor and changes in sex hormones. In cohorts of visceral oncology patients, malignancies such as colorectal carcinomas, hepatocellular carcinomas, adenocarcinomas of the pancreas, oesophageal and gastric carcinomas are also linked to an increased disease risk with increasing body weight. Since obesity must be considered a preventable or at least treatable cause of cancer, this review examines the influence of obesity in the field of visceral oncology, examining the effects of obesity on tumour prevalence, prevention and diagnostic testing, as well as its influence on treatment and prognosis. Furthermore, this review explores the current evidence on the influence of bariatric surgery on the prevalence of these obesity associated tumours. For example, in the case of colorectal carcinomas, the evidence base following bariatric surgery is mixed, painting an inhomogeneous picture. On the other hand, significantly lower prevalence of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinomas is to be noted. The latter effect can be explained by the decrease in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) associated with weight loss. Despite the justified concern that bariatric procedures (especially gastric sleeve resection) lead to increased prevalence of malignancies of the oesophageal junction, the currently available epidemiological data does not seem to identify a relevant increase in the incidence of these malignancies.

Abstract
Ovarian cancer remains to have relatively poor prognosis particularly in low-resourced settings. It is therefore important to continually examine the burden of ovarian cancer to identify areas of disparities. Our study aims to provide an overview of the global burden of ovarian cancer using the GLOBOCAN 2020 estimates by country, world region, and Human Development Index (HDI) levels, as well as the predicted future burden by the year 2040 by HDI. Age-standardized incidence and mortality rates for ovarian cancer in 185 countries were calculated by country, world region, and for the four-tier HDI. The number of new cases and deaths were projected for the year 2040 based on demographic projections by HDI category. Approximately 314 000 new ovarian cancer cases and 207 000 deaths occurred in 2020. There were marked geographic variations in incidence rates, with the highest rates observed in European countries with very high HDI and low rates were found in African countries within the lowest HDI group. Comparable mortality rates were observed across the four-tier HDI. Relative to 2020 estimates, our projection for 2040 indicates approximately 96% and 100% increase in new ovarian cancer cases and deaths, respectively, among low HDI countries compared to 19% and 28% in very high HDI countries. Our study highlights the disproportionate current and future burden of ovarian cancer in countries with lower HDI levels, calling for global action to reduce the burden and inequality of ovarian cancer in access to quality cancer care and treatment.

Abstract
Introduction
The Controlling Nutritional (CONUT) Status score is an established predictor of impaired prognosis in patients with solid tumors. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of the CONUT score for overall survival and perioperative complication rates in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer.
Patients
In this retrospective study we assessed the data of 337 consecutive patients with ovarian cancer. The CONUT score was associated with surgical outcome, postoperative complications and clinicopathological parameters. We used univariate log-rank test and multivariable Cox regression models to evaluate the association between pretreatment CONUT scores and survival.
Results
A low CONUT score (0 – 2) was associated with an early FIGO stage (p = 0.004), complete tumor resection (p < 0.001), less neoadjuvant chemotherapy (p = 0.017) and other histologies than serous cystadenocarcinoma (p = 0.006). Postoperative complications were observed in 51.4% and 60.5% of patients with a CONUT score of 0 – 2 and a score > 2, respectively (p = 0.161). A shorter overall survival was observed in patients with a CONUT score > 2 compared to patients with a low CONUT score, with 5-year overall survival rates of 31.5% and 58.7%, respectively (p < 0.001). In multivariable analysis, both advanced age (p < 0.001) and FIGO stage (p < 0.001), residual disease (p < 0.001) and a high CONUT score (p = 0.048) were independently associated with unfavorable overall survival.
Conclusion
Pretreatment CONUT score is an independent prognostic marker for overall survival and associated with successful surgery. Patients with a high CONUT score might benefit from pretreatment nutritional intervention.

Abstract
Despite the evidence supporting the relevance of obesity and obesity‐associated disorders in the development, management, and prognosis of various cancers, obesity rates continue to increase worldwide. Growing evidence supports the involvement of obesity in the development of gynecologic malignancies. This article explores the molecular basis governing the alteration of hallmarks of cancer in the development of obesity‐related gynecologic malignancies encompassing cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. We highlight specific examples of how development, management, and prognosis are affected for each cancer, incorporate current knowledge on complementary approaches including lifestyle interventions to improve patient outcomes, and highlight how new technologies are helping us better understand the biology underlying this neglected pandemic. This review focuses on how obesity impacts cancer hallmarks in gynecologic malignancies, thus affecting the diagnosis, management, treatment, and prognosis of these diseases.
