Abstract
Immunoassays based on the specific antigen-antibody interactions are efficient tools to detect various compounds and estimate their content. Usually, these assays are implemented in water-saline media with composition close to physiological conditions. However, many substances are insoluble or cannot be molecularly dispersed in such media, which objectively creates problems when interacting in aquatic environments. Thus, obtaining immunoreactants and implementing immunoassays of these substances need special methodological solutions. Hydrophobicity of antigens as well as their limited ability to functionalization and conjugation are often overlooked when developing immunoassays for these compounds. The main key finding is the possibility to influence the behavior of hydrophobic compounds for immunoassays, which requires specific approaches summarized in the review. Using the examples of two groups of compounds-surfactants (alkyl- and bisphenols) and fullerenes, we systematized the existing knowledge and experience in the development of immunoassays. This review addresses the challenges of immunodetection of poorly soluble substances and proposes solutions such as the use of hydrotropes, other solubilization techniques, and alternative receptors (aptamers and molecularly imprinted polymers).

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally, ranking third in cancer deaths. Early diagnosis of HCC markers is imperative for effective prognosis and treatment. This study explores the utility of glycocholic acid (GCA) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) as biomarkers for liver diseases, with a specific focus on their simultaneous detection for enhanced diagnostic and prognostic capabilities. Harnessing the benefits of lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA), such as operational simplicity, speed, and accuracy, we engineered AgPd nanocomposites with antibodies targeting GCA and AFP. Under the optimized conditions, the visual detection limit for GCA was established at 50 ng mL-1 and the cut-off value at 104 ng mL-1. And for AFP, the visual detection limit was 0.1 ng mL-1 and the cut-off value was 500 ng mL-1. The accuracy and feasibility of the strips were validated through the detection of 39 actual serum samples. The results highlight the potential of LFIA as a rapid and effective tool for clinical diagnosis. The developed LFIA method not only demonstrates accuracy and feasibility but also presents a promising avenue for the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Abstract
Pigments have become a very important part of food research, not only adding sensory properties to food, but also providing functional properties to the food system. In this paper, we review the source, structure, modification, encapsulation and current status of the three main types of natural pigments that have been studied in recent years: polyphenolic flavonoids, tetraterpenoids and betaines. By examining the modification of pigment, the improvement of their stability and the impact of new food processing methods on the pigments, a deeper understanding of the properties and applications of the three pigments is gained, the paper reviews the research status of pigments in order to promote their further research and provide new innovations and ideas for future research in this field.

Abstract
Electrochemical treatment of organic matter for environmental remediation necessitates the development of cheap and robust electrodes that are chemically and structurally stable. To address this challenging requirement, we demonstrate a new electrochemical approach using a simple copper electrode under cathodic conditions to electrochemically generate reactive nitrosonium ions for the degradation of different classes of synthetic organic dyes. This could be achieved in an aqueous HNO3/KNO3 electrolyte at a relatively low cathodic potential of -0.5 V RHE at room temperature. UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry and total organic carbon measurements revealed the rapid decolorisation and mineralisation of several dye types such as triarylmethane dyes (crystal violet, cresol red), an azo dye (methyl orange) as well as a sulfur containing thiazine dye (toluidine blue). The total organic carbon content of a 50 mg L-1 methyl orange solution was found to decrease by 83% after 1 h of electrolysis. Promisingly, locally sourced river and creek water samples spiked with 50 mg L-1 methyl orange were also successfully treated for up to 6 cycles at a simple Cu electrode, demonstrating potential for the remediation of polluted waterways.

Abstract
Consumers all across the world are looking for the most delectable and appealing foods, while also demanding products that are safer, more nutritious, and healthier. Substitution of synthetic colorants with natural colorants has piqued consumer and market interest in recent years. Due to increasing demand, extensive research has been conducted to find natural and safe food additives, such as natural pigments, that may have health benefits. Natural colorants are made up of a variety of pigments, many of which have significant biological potential. Because of the promising health advantages, natural colorants are gaining immense interest in the dairy industry. This review goes over the use of various natural colorants in dairy products which can provide desirable color as well as positive health impacts. The purpose of this review is to provide an in-depth look into the field of food (natural or synthetic) colorants applied in dairy products as well as their potential health benefits, safety, general trends, and future prospects in food science and technology. In this paper, we listed a plethora of applications of natural colorants in various milk-based products.

Abstract
Multimodal lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) has displayed its potential to improve practicability and elasticity of point-of-care testing. Herein, multifunctional core-shell-shell Au@Pt@Ag NPs loaded with dual-layer Raman reporter molecules of 5,5'-dithiobis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB) with a characteristic combination of color-photothermal-Raman performance were constructed for colorimetric LFIA (CM-LFIA), photothermal LFIA (PT-LFIA) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering-based LFIA (SERS-LFIA), respectively. The highly specific nanoprobes, being obtained through the combination of the resulted dual-layer DTNB modified Au@Pt@Ag NPs with the antibody, were triumphantly utilized in exploring multimodal LFIA with one visual qualitative and two optional quantitative modes with excellent sensing sensitivity. Under optimal conditions, the limit of detection (LOD) for the model hazardous analyte dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) were 1.0 ng mL-1 for CM-LFIA, 0.42 ng mL-1 for PT-LFIA, and 0.013 ng mL-1 for SERS-LFIA, three of which were over 100-fold, 200-fold and 7 000-fold more sensitive than conventional visual AuNPs-based LFIA, respectively. In addition, the quantitative PT-LFIA and SERS-LFIA sensors worked well in spiked real samples with acceptable recoveries of 96.2 - 106.7% and 98.2 - 105.2%, respectively. This assay demonstrated that the developed multimodal LFIA had a great potential to be a powerful tool for accurate tracing hazardous analytes in complex samples.

Abstract
Grafting specific recognition moieties onto solid-state nanofluidic channels is a promising way for selective and sensitive sensing of analytes. However, the time-consuming interaction between recognition moieties and analytes is the main hindrance to the application of nanofluidic channel-based sensors in rapid detection. Here, we show the integration of ordered two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) to solid-state nanofluidic channels to achieve rapid, selective, and sensitive detection of contaminants. As a proof of concept, a thiourea-linked 2D COF (JNU-3) as the recognition unit is covalently bonded on the stable artificial anodic aluminum oxide nanochannels (AAO) to fabricate a JNU-3@AAO-based nanofluidic sensor. The rapid and selective interaction of Hg(II) with the highly ordered channels of JNU-3 allows the JNU-3@AAO-based nanofluidic sensor to realize ultrafast and precise determination of Hg(II) (90 s) with a low limit of detection (3.28 fg mL-1), wide linear range (0.01-100 pg mL-1), and good precision (relative standard deviation of 3.8% for 11 replicate determination of 10 pg mL-1). The developed method was successfully applied to the determination of mercury in a certified reference material A072301c (rice powder), real water, and rice samples with recoveries of 90.4-99.8%. This work reveals the great potential of 2D COFs-modified solid-state nanofluidic channels as a sensor for the rapid and precise detection of contaminants in complicated samples.

Abstract
In this study, an ultrasensitive monoclonal antibody (mAb) was produced and used to develop a gold nanoparticle-based lateral flow immunochromatographic (ICA) strip for screening of clomazone (CLO) in potato and pumpkin samples. With assayed by indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ic-ELISA) method, the mAb belonging of IgG2 subclass showed a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 3.47 ng/mL and a linear range of detection of 0.43-28.09 ng/mL. A cross-reactivity test revealed that the mAb had good specificity for CLO. The strip assay had a visual limit of detection (LOD) of 5 µg/kg and a cut-off value of 50 µg/kg for CLO pumpkin samples (potato samples was 100 µg/kg) when evaluated with the naked eye. The results were consistent with ic-ELISA and high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). Thus, this ICA strip assay represents a potentially tool for on-site and rapid initial detection of CLO in potato and pumpkin samples.

Abstract
As antibodies are the main biological binder for hazards in food samples, their performance directly determines the sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility of the developed immunoassay. The overwhelmingly used mammalian-derived antibodies usually suffer from complicated preparation, high cost, frequent bleeding of animals, and sometimes low titer and affinity. Chicken yolk antibody (IgY) has recently attracted considerable attention in the bioanalytical field owing to its advantages in productivity, animal welfare, comparable affinity, and high specificity. However, a broad understanding of the application of IgY-based immunoassay for the detection of chemical and biological hazards in food samples remains limited. Here, we briefly summarized the diversity, structure, and production of IgY including polyclonal and monoclonal formats. Then, a comprehensive overview of the principles, designs, and applications of IgY-based immunoassays for these hazards was reviewed and discussed, including food-borne pathogens, food allergens, veterinary drugs, pesticides, toxins, endocrine disrupting chemicals, etc. Thus, the trend of IgY-based immunoassays is expected, and more IgY types, higher sensitivity, and diversification of recognition-to-signal manners are necessary in the future.

Abstract
Malachite green (MG) has been widely used for controlling external fungi and parasites in the aquaculture. However, MG has been proven to be very hazardous, and the detection of MG in aquaculture environment is crucial for determining whether MG has been used within the allowed limit and for protecting the environment. Herein, a kind of copper based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) was prepared using copper nitrate and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) as raw materials. The prepared Cu-BTC materials provide larger active area and higher accumulation capacity for MG, and meanwhile lower the charge-transfer resistance. As a result, the oxidation signal and detection sensitivity of MG are significantly improved by Cu-BTC frameworks. The linear range is 2-500 nM, and the detection limit is 0.67 nM, which is much lower than the reported values. Moreover, other usually-used aquaculture drugs have no interferences, including erythromycin, chloramphenicol, oxytetracycline, furazolidone and nitrofurazone. This method was applied in the water samples, and the results were consistent with those using high-performance liquid chromatography.

Abstract
Field-deployable detectors of disease biomarkers provide a simple and fast analysis of clinical specimens. However, most of the existing field-deployable diagnostics have poor sensitivity and are not suitable for the detection of biomarkers with low abundance. Herein, we report a highly sensitive and rapid colorimetric readout paper-based assay for pathogen detection by integrating the unique collateral activity of a Cas12a-activated universal field-deployable detector (CUFD). The collateral effect of Cas12a results in a nonspecific destruction of a fluorophore biotin-labeled ssDNA reporter for the CUFD. This technique can quantify seven different kinds of pathogens in blood samples without any purification procedure, with sensitivity as low as 10 aM for the Shigella dysenteriae DNA. This CUFD technique has significant potential for the detection of pathogenic DNA as well as other types of DNA or RNA targets at the point-of-care application.

Abstract
Color is one of the key ingredients for increasing the appetizing of food, so food dyes have become firmly established in food production technologies. However, with the acquisition of toxicity data of synthetic food dyes (SFD), there were restrictions and standards for their content in food have emerged. Numerous papers published in recent years demonstrate the importance of the problem of the use and definition of SFD. The review contains over 180 literary references in the field of usage and methods of determination of synthetic food dyes, among them regulatory documents (regulations), official internet resources of international and Ukrainian organizations, review articles and original works. Varieties of chromatography, enzyme-linked immunoassay, optical and electrochemical methods are used to identify and determine SFD. Special attention was paid to voltammetry (VA) as a method that is cheaper than chromatography and completely satisfies selectivity, sensitivity, reliability requirements and is compatible with the concept of green analytical chemistry, as it doesn't need organic solvents.
