Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of groundnut oil, African walnut oil, and their blends on some biochemical parameters in obese Wistar rats. Obesity was induced with a high-fat diet for 60 days and managed with oils and orlistat for 28 days. The rats were sacrificed on the 29th day, and the serum and blood were collected. The serum was used to evaluate oxidative stress and cytokine markers, while the blood was used for hematology studies. Results showed that oil quality indices were within standard ranges as recommended by the norm. Hematological assessments showed no significant differences in most parameters across groups, except for platelet counts, which were lower in the group taking 100% of groundnut oil. Catalase activity and glutathione peroxidase (GSH) levels were evaluated in various organs. The normal group exhibited the highest catalase activity in the brain and liver compared with the rats that received the high-fat diet. Notably, GSH activity was higher in the brains of rats receiving the 60:40 blend. Thiobarbituric acid (TBA) values indicated lower oxidative stress in the normal and 100% walnut oil groups. Nitric oxide concentrations were significantly higher in the normal and walnut oil groups compared with the negative control, suggesting a protective effect against oxidative stress. Cytokine analysis revealed elevated inflammatory markers in the negative control group, highlighting the potential anti-inflammatory properties of the oils. These findings suggest that groundnut oil, African walnut oil, and their blends might have anti-inflammatory activities, might preserve hematological markers, and protect against oxidative stress.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer-associated cachexia (CAC) arises from malignant tumors and leads to a debilitating wasting syndrome. In the pathophysiology of CAC, the depletion of fat plays an important role. The mechanisms of CAC-induced fat loss include the enhancement of lipolysis, inhibition of lipogenesis, and browning of white adipose tissue (WAT). However, few lipid-metabolic enzymes have been reported to be involved in CAC. This study hypothesized that ELOVL6, a critical enzyme for the elongation of fatty acids, may be involved in fat loss in CAC. METHODS Transcriptome sequencing technology was used to identify CAC-related genes in the WAT of a CAC rodent model. Then, the expression level of ELOVL6 and the fatty acid composition were analyzed in a large clinical sample. Elovl6 was knocked down by siRNA in 3T3-L1 mouse preadipocytes to compare with wild-type 3T3-L1 cells treated with tumor cell conditioned medium. RESULTS In the WAT of patients with CAC, a significant decrease in the expression of ELOVL6 was found, which was linearly correlated with the extent of body mass reduction. Gas chromatographic analysis revealed an increase in palmitic acid (C16:0) and a decrease in linoleic acid (C18:2n-6) in these tissue samples. After treatment with tumor cell-conditioned medium, 3T3-L1 mouse preadipocytes showed a decrease in Elovl6 expression, and Elovl6-knockdown cells exhibited a reduction in preadipocyte differentiation and lipogenesis. Similarly, the knockdown of Elovl6 in 3T3-L1 cells resulted in a significant increase in palmitic acid (C16:0) and a marked decrease in oleic acid (C18:1n-9) content. CONCLUSION Overall, the expression of ELOVL6 was decreased in the WAT of CAC patients. Decreased expression of ELOVL6 might induce fat loss in CAC patients by potentially altering the fatty acid composition of adipocytes. These findings suggest that ELOVL6 may be used as a valuable biomarker for the early diagnosis of CAC and may hold promise as a target for future therapies.

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a psycho-metabolic disorder with a high risk of somatic complications such as refeeding syndrome (RFS) and carries the highest mortality rate of all psychiatric illnesses. To date, the consensus on the care for patients with AN has been based on recommendations for a combination of alimentation and psychotherapy. It is important to establish an initial caloric intake that will provide weight gain and minimize the risk of complications in the treatment of undernourished patients. Research over the past few years suggests that current treatment recommendations may be too stringent and should be updated. The aim of this paper is to systematize the current reports on nutritional rehabilitation in AN, to present the results of studies on the safe supplementation of patients and its potential impact on improving prognosis and the healing process. This review of literature, from 2011-2021, describes the changing trend in the nutritional protocols used and the research on their efficacy, safety, and long-term effects. In addition, it presents previous reports on the potential benefits of introducing vitamin, pro-and prebiotic and fatty acid supplementation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The expansion of adipose tissue increases leptin secretion associated with a reduction of adiponectin concentration, which negatively affects health of adolescents with obesity. This study aims to investigate the effects of non-intensive interdisciplinary therapy on cardiometabolic parameters including leptin, adiponectin and adiponectin/leptin ratio as a dependent manner on its magnitude of weight loss reduction. METHODS AND RESULTS Thirty-eight adolescents (14-19 y.o) were enrolled in an interdisciplinary therapy for 20 weeks. Body composition, biochemical parameters, leptin and adiponectin were measured at baseline and after therapy. The adolescents were divided into two groups according to the magnitude of total weight loss, less than 5% (<5%-n = 18) or greater than or equal to 5% (≥5%-n = 20). Leptin decreased in whole group after therapy, while adiponectin, and adiponectin/leptin ratio increased. Additionally, body composition was improved. Only the group who lost ≥5% of body weight could reduce the inflammatory state. CONCLUSION The interdisciplinary therapy contributes to improve cardiometabolic parameters that could be involved on inflammation in adolescents with obesity, this improvement occurred mainly when the weight loss is ≥5% of body weight. It could be a target for control the inflammatory process related to obesity in adolescents.

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a complex psychiatric disorder with high morbidity and mortality rates. While many individuals make full recoveries, up to a third of patients develop a chronic, treatment-resistant form of the illness that leads to a premature death in 15-20% of those affected. There have been few advances in treatment, both in terms of psychological or pharmacologic treatment over the last 30 years. Food aversion is commonly cited by patients with AN as a barrier to normalizing eating and weight. Our group has a keen interest in examining factors that might allow this to be addressed, thus improving treatment outcomes through personalized dietary plans or nutritional supplementation related to underlying genetic status. We demonstrated that polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs)-derived bioactive lipids (eicosanoids) are implicated in not only the risk of AN, but also with its comorbid psychopathology. Of interest, the differential postprandial omega 6-derived eicosanoid shift observed in AN highlights the possibility that the metabolism of PUFAs is an important mechanism underlying the profound food version, contributing to pathological food restriction in AN. A concise knowledge of the relationships among PUFAs, eicosanoids, and AN clinical course and psychopathology could be the key to developing personalized nutritional rehabilitative treatments for those suffering from AN. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the literature on PUFAs in AN. We also selectively reviewed the clinical benefits PUFA treatments exert in other psychiatric diseases, on weight and appetite regulation, and for resolution of inflammation, all of which are relevant in the disease course and outcome of AN. We propose that personalized PUFA formulation be developed and tested as a novel adjunctive treatment for patients with AN. We hypothesize that with personalized PUFA formulation, food aversion and anxiety about eating will decrease while mood, dietary behavior, and weight restoration will improve in AN, leading to improvements in the overall treatment outcome.

Abstract
Obesity, which is associated with dietary habits, has become a global social problem and causes many metabolic diseases. In China, both percentages of adult obesity and overweight are far lower compared to western countries. It was designed to increase the two levels of daily intake in human, namely 3.8% and 6.5%, which are recommendatory intake (25 g/d) and Chinese citizens' practical intake (41.4 g/d), respectively. The mice were respectively fed with feeds added with soybean oil, lard or the oil blended by both for 12 weeks. In the mice fed with diet containing 3.8% of the three oils or 6.5% blended oil, their body weight, body fat rate, cross-sectional area of adipocytes, adipogenesis and lipogenesis in adipose were decreased, whereas hydrolysis of triglyserides in adipose was increased. This study demonstrated that the oil mixture containing lard and soybean oil had a remarkable anti-obesity effect. It suggests that the traditional Chinese dietary habits using oils blended with lard and soybean oil, might be one of the factors of lower percentages of overweight and obesity in China, and that the increasing of dietary oil intake and the changing of its component resulted in the increasing of obesity rate in China over the past decades.

Abstract
Argan oil is widely used in Morocco in traditional medicine. Its ability to treat cardiovascular diseases is well-established. However, nothing is known about its effects on neurodegenerative diseases, which are often associated with increased oxidative stress leading to lipid peroxidation and the formation of 7-ketocholesterol (7KC) resulting from cholesterol auto-oxidation. As 7KC induces oxidative stress, inflammation and cell death, it is important to identify compounds able to impair its harmful effects. These compounds may be either natural or synthetic molecules or mixtures of molecules such as oils. In this context: (i) the lipid profiles of dietary argan oils from Berkane and Agadir (Morocco) in fatty acids, phytosterols, tocopherols and polyphenols were determined by different chromatographic techniques; and (ii) their anti-oxidant and cytoprotective effects in 158N murine oligodendrocytes cultured with 7KC (25-50 µM; 24 h) without and with argan oil (0.1% v/v) or α-tocopherol (400 µM, positive control) were evaluated with complementary techniques of cellular and molecular biology. Among the unsaturated fatty acids present in argan oils, oleate (C18:1 n-9) and linoleate (C18:1 n-6) were the most abundant; the highest quantities of saturated fatty acids were palmitate (C16:0) and stearate (C18:0). Several phytosterols were found, mainly schottenol and spinasterol (specific to argan oil), cycloartenol, β-amyrin and citrostadienol. α- and γ-tocopherols were also present. Tyrosol and protocatechic acid were the only polyphenols detected. Argan and extra virgin olive oils have many compounds in common, principally oleate and linoleate, and tocopherols. Kit Radicaux Libres (KRL) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) tests showed that argan and extra virgin olive oils have anti-oxidant properties. Argan oils were able to attenuate the cytotoxic effects of 7KC on 158N cells: loss of cell adhesion, cell growth inhibition, increased plasma membrane permeability, mitochondrial, peroxisomal and lysosomal dysfunction, and the induction of oxiapoptophagy (OXIdation + APOPTOsis + autoPHAGY). Altogether, our data obtained in 158N oligodendrocytes provide evidence that argan oil is able to counteract the toxic effects of 7KC on nerve cells, thus suggesting that some of its compounds could prevent or mitigate neurodegenerative diseases to the extent that they are able to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe psychiatric disorder without approved medication intervention. Every class of psychoactive medication has been tried to improve treatment outcome; however, randomized controlled trials have been ambiguous at best and across studies have not shown robust improvements in weight gain and recovery. Here we review the available literature on pharmacological interventions since AN came to greater public recognition in the 1960s, including a critical review of why those trials may not have been successful. We further provide a neurobiological background for the disorder and discuss how cognition, learning, and emotion-regulating circuits could become treatment targets in the future. Making every effort to develop effective pharmacological treatment options for AN is imperative as it continues to be a complex psychiatric disorder with high disease burden and mortality.
