Abstract
BACKGROUND Surgical resection remains the cornerstone of treatment for hepatoblastoma in children and offers the best chance of disease-free survival. We aimed to analyze the 30 day outcomes of hepatic resection for hepatoblastoma stratified by extent using the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program-Pediatric (NSQIP-P). METHODS We queried NSQIP-P for children undergoing resection of Hepatoblastoma from 2012 to 2021. Relevant clinical characteristics and outcomes were extracted for multivariate logistic regression to identify predictors of common adverse outcomes. RESULTS We included 458 children with a median age of 1.90 years. Overall complications were rare, and perioperative blood transfusion (64.2%) and postoperative ventilation > 48 h (10.0%) were the only adverse events prevalent in more than 5% of patients. Median transfusion volume was 15.7 ml/kg. On multivariate regression, only patients undergoing Trisectionectomy (aOR = 3.387, 95% C.I. = 1.348-8.510) had higher odds of receiving > 75th percentile blood transfusion. Furthermore, only perioperative transfusion and postoperative ventilation > 48 h were statistically more common in patients undergoing extended versus standard resections. CONCLUSIONS Outcomes following resection of hepatoblastoma are excellent, with low rates of postoperative adverse events. Although children undergoing trisectionectomy likely require greater transfusion volume, extended hepatic resections do not appear to have worse 30 day outcomes despite greater operative complexity and duration.

Abstract
Background The prognosis of patients with hepatoblastoma has been unsatisfactory. This study analyzed the effects of different treatment methods on cancer-specific survival (CSS) in children with hepatoblastoma. Method From 2000 to 2018, patients with hepatoblastoma were included in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. CSS was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Cox regression analysis assessed prognostic factors. The predictive models were validated using the concordance index (C-index), calibration curve and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Result Of the 785 included patients, 730 (93.0 %) underwent chemotherapy, 516 (65.7 %) underwent liver tumour resection and 129 (16.4 %) underwent liver transplantation. Both chemotherapy and surgery could significantly improve the CSS rate (all p < 0.001). However, there was no difference in CSS rate between the two surgical methods (liver tumour resection and liver transplantation) (p = 0.613). Further subgroup analysis revealed that children who underwent liver tumour resection or liver transplantation based on chemotherapy (all p > 0.05) had a similar prognosis. Multivariate analysis revealed that age (p = 0.003), race (p = 0.001), operative method (p < 0.001), chemotherapy (p < 0.001), distant metastasis (p < 0.001) and tumour size (p < 0.001) were independent factors related to CSS. The C-index of the new nomogram was 0.759, and its consistency was good. The ROC curves verified that the nomogram had a better prediction ability for 1-, 3- and 5-year CSS rates. Conclusion In children with hepatoblastoma, there was no statistically significant difference in CSS between chemotherapy combined with liver transplantation and liver tumour resection. The nomogram we constructed demonstrated satisfactory CSS prediction ability.

Abstract
Illnesses that afflict a tiny number of individuals are referred to as rare diseases (RDs), sometimes called orphan diseases. The local healthcare systems are constantly under financial, psychological, and medical strain due to low incidence rates, unusual presentations, flawed diagnostic standards, and a lack of treatment alternatives for these RDs. The effective management of the once widely spread viral hepatitis B and C has altered the spectrum of liver diseases in Egypt during the last several years. The detection of uncommon disorders such as autoimmune, cholestatic, and hereditary liver diseases has also been made easier by the increasing knowledge and greater accessibility of specific laboratory testing. Finally, despite Egypt's large population, there are more uncommon liver disorders than previously thought. This review article discusses the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of a few uncommon liver disorders and the information currently accessible concerning these illnesses in Egypt.

Abstract
Pediatric hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most common primary liver malignancy in infants and children. With great diversity and plasticity, tumor-infiltrating neutrophils were one of the most determining factors for poor prognosis in many malignant tumors. In this study, through bulk RNA sequencing for sorted blood and tumor-infiltrated neutrophils and comparison of neutrophils in tumor and para-tumor tissue by single-cell sequencing, we found that intratumoral neutrophils were composed of heterogenous functional populations at different development stages. Our study showed that terminally differentiated neutrophils with active ferroptosis prevailed in tumor tissue, whereas, in para-tumor, pre-fate naïve neutrophils were dominant and ferroptotic neutrophils dispersed in a broad spectrum of cell maturation. Gene profiling and in vitro T-cell coculture experiment confirmed that one of main functional intratumoral neutrophils was mainly immunosuppressive, which relied on the activation of ferroptosis. Combining the bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq data, and immunochemistry staining of tumor samples, CXCL12/CXCR4 chemotaxis pathway was suggested to mediate the migration of neutrophils in tumors as CXCR4 highly expressed by intratumoral neutrophils and its ligand CXCL12 expressed much higher level in tumor than that in para-tumor. Moreover, our study pinpointed that infiltrated CXCR4hi neutrophils, regardless of their differential distribution of cell maturation status in HB tumor and para-tumor regions, were the genuine perpetrators for immune suppression. Our data characterized the ferroptosis-dependent immunosuppression energized by intratumoral CXCR4 expression neutrophils and suggest a potential cell target for cancer immunotherapies.

Abstract
Survival rates for HB patients have improved; however, outcomes for patients who relapse remain poor. A retrospective review of information gathered for the HB99 study and the German Liver Tumor Registry identified 25 relapse patients (6.9%, 25/362). The median time from initial diagnosis to first relapse was 13 months (range: 5-66 months). Two patients relapsed >36 months after initial diagnosis. A total of 68% (17/25) of relapses were metastatic, 24% local, and 8% combined. 67% of local relapses were alive at the last follow-up, in contrast to 53% of metastatic and 0% of combined relapses. At the last follow-up, 73% (8/11) of patients with lung relapses were still alive (0/4 with peritoneal, 1/2 with CNS involvement). A total of 20% of the patients had AFP-negative relapses, 64% of the relapse patients achieved a second complete remission, 69% were still in complete second remission at the last follow-up (median FU of 66 months), and 83% (5/6) of irinotecan-naïve patients who received relapse treatment including irinotecan were in second complete remission at the last follow-up. The 3-year overall survival/event-free survival from relapse was 63%/48% respectively. There is a good chance that HB patients will achieve a second remission despite a first relapse. However, patients who suffer further relapses tend to have a poorer prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Liver transplantation (LT) is the only potentially curative option for children with unresectable hepatoblastoma (HBL). Although post-transplant outcomes have improved in the contemporary era, the impact of donor graft type on survival remains unclear. METHODS Using the United Network for Organ Sharing database (02/2002-06/2021), demographics, clinical characteristics, and patient and graft survival were analyzed in children (<18 years) who underwent LT for HBL according to donor graft type. The Kaplan-Meier method, log-rank tests, and Cox regression modeling were used to evaluate the effect of whole, partial, and split deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT) and living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) on patient and graft survival. RESULTS A total of 590 pediatric HBL LT recipients (344 whole graft DDLT; 62 partial graft DDLT; 139 split graft DDLT; 45 LDLT) were included. During 2012-2021 the proportion of LDLTs for HBL decreased to about 5% compared with about 11% during 2002-2011. No significant differences were identified by donor graft type in either patient survival (log-rank test, p = .45) or graft survival (log-rank test, p = .69). The results remained similar during the 2002-2011 era, while during the 2012-2021 era, split graft DDLT was associated with decreased graft loss risk versus whole graft DDLT (hazard ratio: 0.48, 95% confidence interval: 0.23-0.99, p = .046) without any other significant between-group differences. CONCLUSIONS Utilizing non-whole liver grafts can increase access to LT in children with unresectable HBL while ensuring favorable outcomes. LDLT is underutilized in children with HBL in the United States, and efforts to explore LDLT options should be undertaken.

Abstract
Liver transplantation (LT) was originally described by Starzl as a promising strategy to treat primary malignancies of the liver. Confronted with high recurrence rates, indications drifted towards non-oncologic liver diseases with LT finally evolving from a high-risk surgery to an almost routine surgical procedure. Continuously improving outcomes following LT and evolving oncological treatment strategies have driven renewed interest in transplant oncology. This is not only reflected by constant refinements to the criteria for LT in patients with HCC, but especially by efforts to expand indications to other primary and secondary liver malignancies. With new patient-centred oncological treatments on the rise and new technologies to expand the donor pool, the field has the chance to come full circle. In this review, we focus on the concept of transplant oncology, current indications, as well as technical and ethical aspects in the context of donor organs as precious resources.

Abstract
Hepatoblastoma (HB) remains the most common paediatric liver tumour and survival in children with hepatoblastoma has improved considerably since the advent of sequential surgical regimens of chemotherapy based on platinum-based chemotherapeutic agents in the 1980s. With the advent of modern diagnostic imaging and pathology techniques, new preoperative chemotherapy regimens and the maturation of surgical techniques, new diagnostic and treatment options for patients with hepatoblastoma have emerged and international collaborations are investigating the latest diagnostic approaches, chemotherapy drug combinations and surgical strategies. Diagnosis of hepatoblastoma relies on imaging studies (such as ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging), alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels, and histological confirmation through biopsy. The standard treatment approach involves a multimodal strategy with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgical resection. In cases where complete resection is not feasible or tumors exhibit invasive characteristics, liver transplantation is considered. The management of metastatic and recurrent hepatoblastoma poses significant challenges, and ongoing research focuses on developing targeted therapies and exploring the potential of immunotherapy. Further studies are necessary to gain a better understanding of the etiology of hepatoblastoma, develop prevention strategies, and personalize treatment approaches. We aim to review the current status of diagnosis and treatment of hepatoblastoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Though neoadjuvant chemotherapy has been widely used in the treatment of hepatoblastoma, there still lacks an effective way to predict its effect. OBJECTIVE To characterize hepatoblastoma based on radiomics image features and identify radiomics-based lesion phenotypes by unsupervised machine learning, intended to build a classifier to predict the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this retrospective study, we segmented the arterial phase images of 137 cases of pediatric hepatoblastoma and extracted the radiomics features using PyRadiomics. Then unsupervised k-means clustering was applied to cluster the tumors, whose result was verified by t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was used for feature selection, and the clusters were visually analyzed by radiologists. The correlations between the clusters, clinical and pathological parameters, and qualitative radiological features were analyzed. RESULTS Hepatoblastoma was clustered into three phenotypes (homogenous type, heterogenous type, and nodulated type) based on radiomics features. The clustering results had a high correlation with response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (P=0.02). The epithelial ratio and cystic components in radiological features were also associated with the clusters (P=0.029 and 0.008, respectively). CONCLUSIONS This radiomics-based cluster system may have the potential to facilitate the precise treatment of hepatoblastoma. In addition, this study further demonstrated the feasibility of using unsupervised machine learning in a disease without a proper imaging classification system.

Abstract
Introduction Inflammation is closely associated with tumor development and patient prognosis. The objective of this study is to assess the prognostic value of the preoperative inflammatory indexes in pediatric hepatoblastoma patients who receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on clinical and pathological data of 199 hepatoblastoma patients who underwent hepatectomy with preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy from January 2015 to June 2020. The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) in predicting OS and EFS. Patients were grouped based on optimal cutoff values of preoperative inflammatory indexes. Survival rates were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and survival outcomes were compared between groups using the log-rank test. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to identify independent prognostic factors, and a nomogram was constructed using R software to predict the probability of OS. Results The receiver operating characteristic curve showed prognostic value for OS, not EFS, in preoperative inflammatory indexes. Patients were categorized into low/high groups: SII ≤ 266.70/higher, NLR ≤ 1.24/higher, PLR ≤ 85.25/higher, and SIRI ≤ 0.72/higher. High NLR, PLR, SII, and SIRI groups had significantly lower 5-year OS than their low counterparts (all p-value < 0.05). The Cox analysis identified four independent prognostic factors: SIRI (HR=2.997, 95% CI: 1.119-8.031), microvascular invasion (HR=2.556, 95% CI: 1.14-5.73), the post-treatment extent of disease (POSTTEXT) staging (IV vs. I: HR=244.204, 95% CI:11.306-5274.556), and alpha-fetoprotein (>100 ng/ml: HR=0.11, 95% CI: 0.032-0.381) for hepatoblastoma patients with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. High SIRI group had more patients with adverse NLR, SII, and POSTTEXT III (all p-value < 0.05). Independent prognostic factors led to an OS nomogram with a concordance index of 0.85 (95% CI: 0.78-0.91, p-value = 1.43e-27) and the calibration curve showed a good fit between the prediction curve and the true curve. Conclusions SIRI is an independent prognostic factor of hepatoblastoma patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The OS nomogram based on SIRI, POSTTEXT staging, MiVI, and AFP can be used to assess the prognosis of those patients.

Abstract
Background Hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most common liver tumor in children with easy metastasis. The emergence of ferroptosis as a novel form of cell death has gained increased attention in various human cancers. However, the roles of ferroptosis-related (FR) genes in HB remain elusive. Methods The GSE133039, GSE131329, and GSE81928 datasets were utilized for screening core FR genes in HB. Through Lasso regression analysis and using the support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithm, three candidate FR genes were obtained for characterizing HB. Their expression patterns and their clinical associations were explored through the 'Limma' R package, and their diagnostic potential was evaluated using ROC curves. Nitric oxide synthase 2 (NOS2) emerged as a candidate for further analyses. The CIBERSORT algorithm and GSEA dataset were used to respectively investigate the immune and metabolism effects of NOS2; the former was validated through immunofluorescence. The GSDC database was employed to analyze the correlation between NOS2 expression and the therapeutic efficacy of multiple drugs. PCR, Western blotting, colony formation assays, and Transwell experiments, were used to determine biological functions of NOS2 in HB cells. Potential upstream transcription factors of NOS2 were predicted through the TRRUST, hTFtarget, GeneCards, and JASPAR databases. Results NQO1, SLC1A4, and NOS2 were identified as potential genes in HB and found to be significantly upregulated in tumor samples. Nevertheless, only NOS2 was closely associated with HB clinicopathological characteristics; high NOS2 expression indicated poor prognosis, metastatic tendency, and late clinical stage. Immune analyses indicated that high NOS2 expression was concomitant with decreased infiltration levels of CD8+ T cells but increased infiltration levels of macrophages. GSEA revealed that NOS2 failed to affect the enrichments of glycolysis, fatty acid metabolism, and cholesterol biosynthesis in HB. Moreover, NOS2 was positively correlated with the IC50 values of trametinib, lapatinib, and cisplatin. NOS2 overexpression promoted the proliferation, migration and invasion of HepG2 and HuH-6 cells. JUND was identified as a potential transcriptional regulator of NOS2 by binding to its promoter (5'-TTCTGACTCTTTT-3'). Conclusion NOS2 plays a significant role in HB clinical assessments and holds promise as a novel therapeutic target.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Malignant rhabdoid tumors (MRTs) are rare, aggressive tumors that mainly affect children and currently lack effective chemotherapeutic regimens. Liver MRTs are particularly challenging to manage due to the difficulty of performing one-stage liver resection, and preemptive liver transplantation is associated with high recurrence rates. However, the associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) technique offers a promising surgical approach for advanced-stage liver tumors where conventional liver resection is not feasible. CASE REPORT A patient with a large liver rhabdoid tumor that had invaded the three main hepatic veins underwent four courses of cisplatin-pirarubicin chemotherapy. ALPPS was performed due to insufficient residual liver capacity, with hepatic parenchymal dissection between the anterior and posterior liver zones in the first stage of surgery. After confirming adequate remaining liver volume, the liver was resected except for S1 and S6 on postoperative day 14. LDLT was performed 7 months after ALPPS due to the gradual deterioration of liver function caused by chemotherapy. The patient was recurrence-free 22 and 15 months after ALPPS and LDLT, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The ALPPS technique is a curative option for advanced-stage liver tumors that cannot be managed with conventional liver resection. In this case, ALPPS was used successfully to manage a large liver rhabdoid tumor. Then, liver transplantation was performed after chemotherapy. The ALPPS technique should be considered a potential treatment strategy for patients with advanced-stage liver tumors, particularly those who can undergo liver transplantation.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of our study is to identify potential biomarkers of hepatoblastoma (HB) and further explore the pathogenesis of it. METHODS Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were incorporated into the combined random forest and artificial neural network diagnosis model to screen candidate genes for HB. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to analyze the ARHGEF2. Student's t test was performed to evaluate the difference of tumor-infiltrating immune cells (TIICs) between normal and HB samples. Spearson correlation analysis was used to calculate the correlation between ARHGEF2 and TIICs. RESULTS ARHGEF2, TCF3, TMED3, STMN1 and RAVER2 were screened by the new model. The GSEA of ARHGEF2 included cell cycle pathway and antigen processing presenting pathway. There were significant differences in the composition of partial TIICs between HB and normal samples (p < 0.05). ARHGEF2 was significantly correlated with memory B cells (Cor = 0.509, p < 0.05). CONCLUSION These 5 candidate genes contribute to the molecular diagnosis and targeted therapy of HB. And we found "ARHGEF2-RhoA-Cyclin D1/CDK4/CDK6-EF2" is a key mechanism regulating cell cycle pathway in HB. This will be helpful in the treatment of HB. The occurrence of HB is related to abnormal TIICs. We speculated that memory B cells play an important role in HB.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatoblastomas (HBs) are malignant liver tumors that most commonly develop in pediatric patients. Microvascular invasion may be a prognosis factor for patients with HBs. This study aimed to construct a model to predict the survival outcome in HBs. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 311 patients with HBs who underwent surgical resection at our institution between June 2014 and August 2021. First, patients were divided into two groups: those who had pathologic microvascular invasion (n = 146) and those who did not (n = 165). Propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis was carried out between the two groups. The preoperative parameters and overall survival (OS) rate were compared between the two groups. Second, all 311 patients were randomly divided into the training and validation cohort in a ratio of 4:1. A nomogram was created in the training cohort to visualize the prediction of OS. Moreover, the validation cohort was used for validation. RESULTS Multivariate analysis suggested that age, histology type, microvascular invasion, multifocality, distant metastasis, and macrovascular involvement are independent prognostic factors for HBs. The nomogram showed good predictive ability in the training and validation cohorts with a C-index of 0.878 (95% CI, 0.831-0.925) and 0.847 (95% CI, 0.757-0.937), respectively. The calibration curve indicated good agreement between the prediction and observation for one-, two-, and three-year OS probabilities. CONCLUSION By combining preoperative imaging results and other clinical data, we established a nomogram to predict OS probability for patients with HB, which could be a potential tool to guide personalized treatment.

Abstract
Hepatoblastoma is a malignant embryonal tumor with multiple differentiation modes and is the clearest liver malignancy in children. However, little is known about genetic and epigenetic events in Hepatoblastoma. Increased research has recently demonstrated, unique genetic and epigenetic events in Hepatoblastoma, providing insights into its origin and precise treatment. Some genetic disorders and congenital factors are associated with the risk of Hepatoblastoma development, such as the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Familial Adenomatous polyposis, and Hemihypertrophy. Epigenetic modifications such as DNA modifications, histone modifications, and non-coding RNA regulation are also essential in the development of Hepatoblastoma. Herein, we reviewed genetic and epigenetic events in Hepatoblastoma, focusing on the relationship between these events and cancer susceptibility, tumor growth, and prognosis. By deciphering the genetic and epigenetic associations in Hepatoblastoma, tumor pathogenesis can be clarified, and guide the development of new anti-cancer drugs and prevention strategies.

Abstract
The biology of cancer stem cells (CSCs) of pediatric cancers, such as hepatoblastoma, is sparsely explored. This is mainly due to the very immature nature of these tumors, which complicates the distinction of CSCs from the other tumor cells. Previously, we identified a CSC population in hepatoblastoma cell lines expressing the CSC markers CD34 and CD90, cell surface Vimentin (csVimentin) and binding of OV-6. In this study, we detected the co-expression of the immune escape factor PD-L1 in the CSC population, whereas the other tumor cells remained negative. FACS data revealed that non-CSCs give rise to CSCs, reflecting plasticity of CSCs and non-CSCs in hepatoblastoma as seen in other tumors. When we treated cells with cisplatin and decitabine, a new CD34+/lowOV-6lowCD90+ population emerged that lacked csVimentin and PD-L1 expression. Expression analyses showed that this new CSC subset shared similar pluripotency and EMT features with the already-known CSCs. FACS results further revealed that this subset is also generated from non-CSCs. In conclusion, we showed that hepatoblastoma CSCs express PD-L1 and that the biology of hepatoblastoma CSCs is of a plastic nature. Chemotherapeutic treatment leads to another CSC subset, which is highly chemoresistant and could be responsible for a poor prognosis after postoperative chemotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatoblastomas (HBs)are malignant liver tumors that most commonly develop in pediatric patients. Although lymph node metastasis is rare in HBs, angiolymphatic invasion (ALI) is a risk factor affecting the prognosis of HBs. This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors for angiolymphatic invasion in HBs. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 165 patients with HBs who underwent surgical resection at our institution between March 2016 and May 2021 and established binary logistic regression models to predict risk factors for ALI. The R software was used to construct the nomogram. RESULTS For the regression model based on the Children's Hepatic Tumors International Collaboration-Hepatoblastoma Stratification (CHIC-HS) system, tumor diameter, tumor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT), and CHIC-HS were identified as independent risk factors for angiolymphatic invasion. For the regression model based on the pretreatment extent of the tumor (PRETEXT) stages with annotation factors, tumor diameter, multifocality, macrovascular involvement, tumor response to NACT, and PRETEXT stages were identified as independent risk factors for angiolymphatic invasion. CONCLUSIONS Using the CHIC-HS system/PRETEXT stages with annotation factors, tumor diameter and tumor response to NACT were identified as independent risk factors for angiolymphatic invasion. The distance between the tumor and portal vein was negatively correlated with the occurrence of multifocal tumors. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Level III.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Repeat hepatectomy for adult recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma significantly prolongs the overall survival, but repeat hepatectomy for pediatric recurrent hepatoblastoma (HB) is rarely reported, and the outcomes are warranted to be investigated. METHODS All patients between May 2015 and December 2020 with recurrent HB after intended surgical cure were retrospectively evaluated. Clinicopathologic features, surgical details and outcomes were analyzed during a median following-up of 24 months after repeat hepatectomy. Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier estimate. RESULTS A total of 18 patients of recurrent HB undergoing repeat hepatectomy with radical cure intention were included. There were 11 males and 7 females. The median age was 29 months (range 5-87 months) at first hepatectomy, and the median time to the recurrence from the first hepatectomy was 7 months. The operating time of the repeat hepatectomy was 5.0 h (range 3.5-9.0 h) and the mean blood loss was 592 ml (range 50-3200 ml). Radical resection (R0) was achieved in 12 patients (66.7%), with a postoperative hospital stay of 7.9 ± 1.8 days. No serious postoperative complications or mortality occurred. The overall survival (OS) rate was 55.6% (10/18) and the event-free survival (EFS) rate was 33.3% (6/18). Those with no lung metastases, not high-risk stratification, and achieving R0 hepatectomy, anatomic hepatectomy had longer OS rate (all P < 0.05) after repeat hepatectomy. Two of three patients with re-recurrence HB undergoing salvage liver transplantation were alive with a tumor-free survival. CONCLUSIONS Repeat hepatectomy for recurrent HB can be carried out safely. However, only a highly selected subgroup of patients might actually benefit from this procedure.

Abstract
Hepatoblastoma is the most common primary liver cancer of childhood, accounting for two-thirds of primary malignant hepatic neoplasms. Radical surgical removal combined with efficient chemotherapy is essential for cure. Despite a complete tumor resection, hepatoblastoma may recur as isolated local disease. Intrahepatic recurrence of hepatoblastoma after liver resection is among the indications for liver transplant. Here, we present a patient who underwent salvage liver transplant for the treatment of local recurrence of hepatoblastoma. A 13-year-old boy who was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma arising from the left liver lobe and who had been treated with surgical resection was admitted to our outpatient oncology clinic for further evaluation because alpha-fetoprotein levels had started to increase after surgery. Histopathological reexamination of hemihepatectomy material showed a histological aspect of an epithelial hepatoblastoma. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multifocal lesions in the right liver lobe compatible with local recurrence. Despite a favorable initial response to chemotherapy, the tumor showed progression with increased alpha-fetoprotein levels. The patient was deemed a viable candidate for an urgent liver transplant and underwent right lobe living donor liver transplant. He had excellent graft function without any complications or signs of malignancy in the last follow-up visit at 7 months posttransplant. Salvage liver transplant is a lifesaving and sometimes the only treatment option for patients with local recurrence of hepatoblastoma. Although transplant in the salvage setting has been associated with worse outcomes than primary transplant, recent data have indicated more favorable and acceptable outcomes. Further studies are warranted to better understand the role of salvage liver transplant in the treatment of hepatoblastoma. Early consultation with the liver transplant team is critical in children who are most likely to need extreme resection or liver transplant.

Abstract
Hepatoblastoma as the most prevalent hepatic malignancy in children, its etiology remains unclear. N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) modification which can modify various physiological processes, plays a critical role in tumorigenesis. Methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14), an important component of the m6A methyltransferase complex, remains elusive during hepatoblastoma occurrence and development. We explored the relationship between METTL14 gene polymorphisms (rs1064034 T > A, rs298982 G > A, rs62328061 A > G, rs9884978 G > A, and rs4834698 T > C) and hepatoblastoma susceptibility from 313 patients and 1446 controls. The role of METTL14 polymorphisms in hepatoblastoma was evaluated by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Of the included subjects, 308 patients and 1444 controls were successfully genotyped. We did not find any significant correlation between the risk of hepatoblastoma and the five potentially functional METTL14 polymorphisms individually. However, the presence of 4-5 risk genotypes exhibited a significant increased hepatoblastoma risk (adjusted OR = 1.32, 95% CI = 1.03-1.69, P = 0.031) compared to those carriers with 0-3 risk genotypes. Furthermore, the stratified analysis demonstrated that the rs1064034 AA genotype, rs62328061 AG/GG genotypes, rs4834698 TC/CC genotypes, and 4-5 risk genotypes were related to hepatoblastoma susceptibility in certain subgroups. The expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis revealed that rs1064034 T > A and rs4834698 T > C were correlated with the expression levels of METTL14 and its surrounding genes. Prospectively, these findings suggested that METTL14 polymorphisms may correlation with hepatoblastoma susceptibility and provide a fresh insight into the genetic underpinnings of m6A modification in hepatoblastoma.

Abstract
This study reports a case of hepatoblastoma with onset at 30-weeks' gestation and rapid growth rate. The postnatal enhanced CT confirmed an intrahepatic mass with a size of 8.5 cm × 6.6 cm and a clear boundary accompanied by uneven enhancement, displacement, and narrow lumen of the hepatic vein due to compression. The alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) at birth was 1,002,632 ng/ml (normal level 48,406 [±34,718] ng/ml). A diagnosis of congenital hepatoblastoma was established based on the imaging and laboratory outcomes. The infant received chemotherapy of Cisplatin-5 fluorouracil-Vincristine (C5V) on the fourth day after birth. After four courses of C5V, a complete tumor resection was performed, and the postoperative pathology was consistent with mixed epithelial and mesenchymal hepatoblastoma. Four more courses of C5V and one course of C5VD (C5V plus doxorubicin) followed the surgery. Infectious diarrhea and acute kidney injury (stage I) occurred during chemotherapy, which recovered after anti-infection and symptomatic treatment. The patient is currently 2 years old and still in complete remission. In this case, the onset of hepatoblastoma was early, and the tumor grew rapidly, resulting in an obvious compression effect. Chemotherapy was started early after birth, and the curative effect was satisfactory, suggesting that the hepatoblastoma based on clinical diagnosis with rapid tumor progression and severe dysfunction of surrounding organs caused by compression should undergo chemotherapy as soon as possible if a pathological diagnosis cannot be obtained temporarily, which also plays an important role in improving the complete resection rate of intraoperative tumor and reducing the recurrence rate of postoperative tumor.

Abstract
Background and aim: Increasing evidence has revealed the valuable diagnostic and prognostic applications of dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) in hepatoblastoma (HB), the most common hepatic malignancy during childhood. However, these results are inconsistent and remain to be elucidated. In the present study, we aimed to systematically compile up-to-date information regarding the clinical value of miRNAs in HB. Methods: Articles concerning the diagnostic and prognostic value of single miRNAs for HB were searched from databases. The sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive and negative likelihood ratios (PLR and NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), area under the curve (AUC), and hazard ratios (HRs) were separately pooled to explore the diagnostic and prognostic performance of miRNA. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses were further carried out only in the event of heterogeneity. Results: In all, 20 studies, involving 264 HB patients and 206 healthy individuals, met the inclusion criteria in the 6 included literature articles. For the diagnostic analysis of miRNAs in HB, the pooled SEN and SPE were 0.76 (95% CI: 0.72-0.80) and 0.75 (95% CI: 0.70-0.80), respectively. Moreover, the pooled PLR was 2.79 (95% CI: 2.12-3.66), NLR was 0.34 (95% CI: 0.26-0.45), DOR was 10.24 (95% CI: 6.55-16.00), and AUC was 0.83, indicating that miRNAs had moderate diagnostic value in HB. For the prognostic analysis of miRNAs in HB, the abnormal expressions of miR-21, miR-34a, miR-34b, miR-34c, miR-492, miR-193, miR-222, and miR-224 in patients were confirmed to be associated with a worse prognosis. The pooled HR was 1.74 (95% CI: 1.20-2.29) for overall survival and 1.74 (95% CI: 1.31-2.18) for event-free survival, suggesting its potential as a prognostic indicator for HB. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis that examines the diagnostic and prognostic role of dysregulated miRNAs in HB patients. The combined meta-analysis results supported the previous individual finds that miRNAs might provide a new, noninvasive method for the diagnostic and prognostic analyses of HB.

Abstract
Purpose The molecular mechanisms and signal pathways of ferroptosis in hepatoblastoma (HB) have not yet been clarified. In previous studies, activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) was reported to be correlated with several tumors, but the clinical significance of ATF3 has never been determined. Herein, we investigated the clinicopathological value and mechanisms of ATF3 in regulating ferroptosis in HB. Methods The mRNA microarray and RNA-sequencing data of 402 samples from our hospital and public databases were used to estimate ATF3 expression and assess its clinical role in HB. The standard mean difference (SMD) and summary receiver operating characteristic curves were utilized to judge the discrimination ability of ATF3 between HB and non-HB liver tissues. We examined the expression variation of ATF3 in HB cells after the treatment with erastin. We also predicted the target genes of ATF3 as a transcriptional factor from public Chromatin Immunoprecipitation-sequencing data and selected the ferroptosis-related genes for a signaling pathway analysis. Results In ten series, the pooled SMD for ATF3 was −0.91, demonstrating that ATF3 expression was predominantly lower in HB than in non-HB liver tissues. ATF3 down-regulation showed moderate potential to distinguish HB from non-HB liver tissues (area under curves = 0.83, 95% confidence interval = 0.79–0.86). Altogether, 4855 putative targets of ATF3 as a transcriptional factor were collected, among which, 60 genes were ferroptosis-related. Conclusion The down-regulated ATF3 expression may play a vital role in the occurrence of HB possible partially by regulating ferroptosis.

Abstract
Hepatoblastoma is the most common malignant liver cancer in childhood, yet its etiology remains unclear. As an m6A methylation modifier, methyltransferase like 3 (METTL3) has an active methyltransferase domain that functionally participates in various tumor occurrence and development. However, little is known about how METTL3 polymorphisms affect the occurrence of hepatoblastoma. Here, we attempted to investigate the associations between METTL3 gene polymorphisms and hepatoblastoma risk in a seven-center case-control study. We genotyped four METTL3 polymorphisms (rs1061026 T > G, rs1061027 C > A, rs1139130 A > G, rs1263801 G > C) by TaqMan technique in 313 cases and 1446 controls. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate the contributions of these four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to hepatoblastoma susceptibility. In single genotype analysis, we detected no significant correlation between these four polymorphisms in METTL3 and hepatoblastoma risk. However, in the combined analysis, the presence of 2-4 risk genotypes of METTL3 was associated with an increased risk of hepatoblastoma compared with that of 0-1 risk genotypes (adjusted OR = 1.48, 95% CI = 1.03-2.12, P = 0.035). The stratified analysis further revealed that carriers of 2-4 risk genotypes are more susceptible to hepatoblastoma in the subgroups of subjects aged under 17 months (adjusted OR = 1.88, 95% CI = 1.12-3.16, P = 0.016) and females (adjusted OR = 1.79, 95% CI = 1.06-3.05, P = 0.031). Overall, our results revealed that none of these four SNPs could increase susceptibility to hepatoblastoma individually. Carriers with 2-4 risk genotypes in the combined analysis tend to increase the risk of hepatoblastoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The survival of children with recurrent hepatoblastoma (RHB) is still unsatisfactory and the treatment for relapsed patients is challenging. PURPOSE To compare short-term results between open liver resection (OLR) and percutaneous thermal ablation (TA) in the treatment of RHB and provide evidence to support the treatment options for such patients. METHODS A retrospective data of 21 patients with RHB in two Chinese centers were analyzed from January 2013 to May 2019. The baseline indicators and clinical effect of the two groups of children were compared. RESULTS There was no statistical difference in baseline indicators between the two groups of children, and complete remission (CR) was achieved after comprehensive treatment. The median follow-up time was 30 months (IQR 38.5 months) in the TA group, and 23 months (IQR 21.7 months) in OLR group (p = .57). The 2-year OS rates were 92.3% in the percutaneous TA group and 87.5% in the OLR group (p = .68, HR = 1.6, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.2-12.4). The 2-year EFS rates were 66.7%, in the TA group and 50.0% in the OLR group (p = .51, HR = 0.6, 95% CI: 0.2-2.6). Compared with the OLR group, TA group had shorter operation time (3.5 ± 1.8 vs. 0.5 ± 0.1, p < .001) and postoperative hospitalization time (11.8 ± 3.0 vs. 9.5 ± 6.8 d, p = .045). No major complications occurred in both groups. CONCLUSIONS Ultrasound-guided percutaneous TA for RHB is a safe and effect treatment option for children. It has comparable effect with surgery within 2 years after treatment. Particularly, due to its minimally invasive advantage, it needs shorter operation and hospitalization time. Percutaneous ablation may be an alternative minimally invasive treatment for RHB children.

Abstract
Hepatoblastoma is the most common malignant liver cancer in childhood. The etiology of hepatoblastoma remains obscure. Hepatoblastoma is closely related to genetic syndromes, hinting that hepatoblastoma is a genetic predisposition disease. However, no precise exposures or genetic events are reported to hepatoblastoma occurrence. During the past decade, significant advances have been made in the understanding of etiology leading to hepatoblastoma, and several important genetic events that appear to be important for the development and progression of this tumor have been identified. Advances in our understanding of the genetic changes that underlie hepatoblastoma may translate into better patient outcomes. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been generally applied in the research of etiology's exploration, disease treatment, and prognosis assessment. Here, we reviewed and discussed the molecular epidemiology, especially SNPs progresses in hepatoblastoma, to provide references for future studies and promote the study of hepatoblastoma's etiology.

Abstract
Background The aim of the present study was to summarize the clinical characteristics of in children aged under 3 years and analyze the related factors affecting the prognosis. Methods The clinical data of 316 children aged under 3 years (192 males and 124 females) who were admitted to Beijing Tongren Hospital with a pathological diagnosis of HB between May 2005 and May 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. The factors influencing the therapeutic effects on and survival of HB in children with HB were analyzed. Results (1) The median age of the enrolled patients was 1.45 years. The most common initial symptom was an abdominal mass (69.0%). The average serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level and platelet count at the initial visit were (97,406.5 ± 5022.8) ng/mL and (418 ± 206) × 109/L, respectively. The epithelial type was the main pathological type (51.9%). According to the PRETEXT preoperative typing system, the most common stage was stage III (57.0%), whereas according to the postoperative Evans staging system, the most common stage was stage IV (41.8%). At the initial visit, 62 cases (19.6%) had vascular invasion, 52 cases (16.5%) had extrahepatic tumor extension, and 20 cases (6.3%) had tumor rupture. Distant metastasis occurred in 132 cases, and the most common metastatic site was the lung (80.3%). The incidence in East China was relatively high (35.4%). (2) The children were followed up until May 2020 (the median follow-up duration was 62 months). It was found that 194 patients had complete remission and 62 had partial remission. The Kaplan–Meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival was 95.3, 88.2, and 79.8% at 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years, respectively, and the event-free survival was 91.1, 83.2, and 75.1%, respectively. The Cox regression analysis showed that AFP level, platelet count, PRETEXT IV, vascular invasion, and distant metastasis at the initial visit were independent risk factors for the prognosis of children with HB (p < 0.05 in all). Conclusion The prognosis of HB was correlated with the AFP level, platelet count, PRETEXT staging, vascular invasion, and distant metastasis at initial diagnosis.

Abstract
Objective The present study aimed to summarize the clinical data of hepatoblastoma (HB) in infants under one year of age and to analyze the factors that affected the prognoses. Methods The clinical data of 132 pediatric patients with a pathologically confirmed HB, aged less than one year and who had visited the Pediatric Single Center of Beijing Tongren Hospital from May 2005 to May 2019, were retrospectively analyzed to summarize the clinical outcomes and prognoses. Results The male/female ratio was 1.27 and the median age was 8.40 months. The onset of HB was usually characterized by abdominal bulging (75.0%). The median level of AFP at the first visit was 154.7µg/mL, and the average platelet count was (405±166)×109/L. The epithelial type (57.6%) was the predominant pathological type, and stage III (54.5%) was the main PRETEXT staging. Distant metastases occurred in 45 cases, with pulmonary metastases (86.7%) being the most common site. At the time of visit, 24 cases (18.2%) had either portal vein, hepatic vein, or vena cava infiltration. Five cases (3.8%) had a hemorrhage of the ruptured tumor, and 26 cases (19.7%) had multiple intrahepatic foci. At the follow-up in May 2020, the overall survival (OS) rate at one, three, and five years of age was 94.3%, 88.8%, and 80.1%, respectively, and the event-free survival rate was 91.8%, 86.9%, and 77.5%, respectively, by the Kaplan–Meier survival analysis. According to the Log rank test, pediatric patients with an AFP <100ng/mL, a PRETEXT stage IV, presence of distant metastases and multiple foci of the primary tumor at the initial diagnosis had poorer prognoses (P<0.05). Conclusion The prognosis of HB in infancy is relatively good, but is still vulnerable to multiple factors, such as tumor features leading to different AFP levels, PRETEXT stage, presence of distant metastases, and multiple intrahepatic foci.

Abstract
Background This study aimed to investigate the critical factors associated with prognosis for children with hepatoblastoma (HB) in mainland China combined with the aspect of health economics and management. Methods This study retrospectively reviewed children with HB in Renji Hospital Affiliated to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from January 2013 to December 2019. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the essential characteristics. Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate the survival rate and prognosis factors. Results For the 87 children with HB, the average survival was 2,002.8 days (95% CI: 1,798.7-2,206.9 days), the 1- and 5-year survival rates were 87.7% and 78.9%, respectively. Undergoing surgery and sex were independent prognostic factors of childhood HB. Children with HB undergoing hepatectomy (HR: 0.039) or liver transplantation (HR: 0.142) had a better prognosis, while boys were associated with a poorer prognosis (HR: 3.614). The average medical expenses for childhood HB were 40,217.5±3,862.0 CNY and liver transplantation cost more than hepatectomy. Conclusions The results had a comparable survival rate with other studies globally. Surgical therapy and sex are associated with the prognosis of children with HB. The economic burden of childhood HB deserves to be further explored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatoblastoma is a commonly occurring embryonal tumors in children. N6-methyladenosine (m6 A) plays a critical role in gene expression, thus contributing to the occurrence and progression of cancer. RNA splicing is regulated by the nuclear m6 A reader YTHDC1, yet the roles of YTHDC1 polymorphisms in hepatoblastoma remain unclear. METHODS We conducted a seven-center case-control study to determine the association between YTHDC1 gene polymorphisms (rs2293596 T>C, rs2293595 T>C and rs3813832 T>C) and hepatoblastoma susceptibility. We recruited 313 hepatoblastoma patients and 1446 healthy controls. RESULTS There was no significant association between all of these polymorphisms and hepatoblastoma susceptibility in single locus or combined analysis. Stratification analysis revealed that rs2293596 TC/CC genotype carriers had a higher risk of developing hepatoblastoma in the subgroup of clinical stages III + IV [adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 1.80, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.18-2.76, p = 0.007]. In addition, 3 risk genotype carriers are more likely to develop hepatoblastoma in the subgroup of clinical stages III + IV (adjusted OR = 1.80, 95% CI = 1.18-2.76, p = 0.007). Furthermore, false-positive probability analysis was used to notarize our findings. Haplotype analysis indicated that there was no significant association between inferred haplotypes of YTHDC1 gene based on observed genotypes and hepatoblastoma risk. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, our findings suggest that the rs2293596 T>C polymorphism may contribute to hepatoblastoma susceptibly and YTHDC1 gene polymorphisms may have a cumulative effect on hepatoblastoma risk.

Abstract
Various factors modulate the risk of hepatoblastoma. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the YTHDF1 gene could predispose to hepatoblastoma. We used TaqMan assay to genotype two YTHDF1 SNPs (rs6011668 C>T and rs6090311 A>G) in a Chinese population composed of 313 subjects with hepatoblastoma and 1446 controls from seven hospitals. We then evaluated the associations of these two SNPs with hepatoblastoma risk using unconditional logistic regression. We found that rs6090311 G allele exhibited a significant association with decreased hepatoblastoma risk [AG vs. AA: adjusted odds ratio (OR)=0.75; 95% confidence interval (CI)=0.58-0.98, P=0.033; AG/GG vs. AA: adjusted OR=0.76, 95% CI=0.59-0.97, P=0.029]. Furthermore, the combined analysis of protective genotypes revealed that subjects carrying two protective genotypes were less likely to have hepatoblastoma than those with 0-1 protective genotypes (adjusted OR=0.75, 95% CI=0.59-0.96, P=0.022). Subjects ≥17 months of age had decreased hepatoblastoma risk, in case that they carried rs6090311 AG/GG (adjusted OR=0.63, 95% CI=0.44-0.91, P=0.012), or two protective genotypes (adjusted OR=0.63, 95% CI=0.44-0.91, P=0.012). False-positive report probability analysis validated the reliability of the significant results. Preliminary functional annotations revealed that rs6090311 G was correlated with decreased expression of its surrounding genes in the expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) analysis. In conclusion, our results indicate that the rs6090311 A>G in the YTHDF1 gene is related to decreased hepatoblastoma risk.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To report the outcomes of hepatoblastoma resected in our institution. METHODS We diagnosed 135 children with hepatoblastoma at our institution between January 2010 and December 2017. Patients who underwent liver resection were included for analysis. However, patients who abandoned treatment after diagnosis were excluded from analysis, but their clinical characteristics were provided in the supplementary material. RESULTS Forty-two patients abandoned treatment, whereas 93 patients underwent liver resection and were included for statistical analysis. Thirty-six, 23, 3, and 31 patients had PRETEXT stages II, III, IV, and unspecified tumours, respectively. Seven patients had ruptured tumour; 9 had lung metastasis (one patient had portal vein thrombosis concurrently). Sixteen patients underwent primary liver resection; 22, 25, and 30 patients received cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy and delayed surgery, preoperative transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and delayed surgery, and a combination of cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy, TACE, and delayed surgery, respectively. Forty patients had both PRETEXT and POST-TEXT information available for analysis. Twelve patients were down-staged after preoperative treatment, including 2, 8, and 2 patients from stages IV to III, III to II, and II to I, respectively. Ten patients with unspecified PRETEXT stage were confirmed to have POST-TEXT stages II (n = 8) and I (n = 2) tumours. Seven tumours were associated with positive surgical margins, and 12 patients had microvascular involvement. During a median follow-up period of 30.5 months, 84 patients survived without relapse, 9 experienced tumour recurrence, and 4 died. The 2-year event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were 89.4 ± 3.4%, and 95.2 ± 2.4%, respectively; they were significantly better among patients without metastasis (no metastasis vs metastasis: EFS, 93.5 ± 3.7% vs 46.7 ± 19.0%, adjusted p = 0.002. OS, 97.6 ± 2.4% vs 61.0 ± 18.1%, adjusted p = 0.005), and similar among patients treated with different preoperative strategies (chemotherapy only vs TACE only vs Both: EFS, 94.7 ± 5.1% vs 91.7 ± 5.6% vs 85.6 ± 6.7%, p = 0.542. OS, 94.1 ± 5.7% vs 95.7 ± 4.3% vs 96.7 ± 3.3%, p = 0.845). CONCLUSION The OS for patients with hepatoblastoma who underwent liver resection was satisfactory. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and TACE seemed to have a similar effect on OS. However, the abandonment of treatment by patients with hepatoblastoma was common, and may have biased our results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatoblastoma is a rare disease. Its etiology remains obscure. No epidemiological reports have assessed the relationship of High Mobility Group A2 (HMGA2) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with hepatoblastoma risk. This case-control study leads as a pioneer to explore whether HMGA2 SNPs (rs6581658 A>G, rs8756 A>C, rs968697 T>C) could impact hepatoblastoma risk. METHODS We acquired samples from 275 hepatoblastoma cases and 1018 controls who visited one of five independent hospitals located in the different regions of China. The genotyping of HMGA2 SNPs was implemented using the PCR-based TaqMan method, and the risk estimates were quantified by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). RESULTS In the main analysis, we identified that rs968697 T>C polymorphism was significantly related to hepatoblastoma risk in the additive model (adjusted OR=0.73, 95% CI=0.54-0.98, P=0.035). Notably, participants carrying 2-3 favorable genotypes had reduced hepatoblastoma risk (adjusted OR=0.71, 95% CI=0.52-0.96, P=0.028) in contrast to those carrying 0-1 favorable genotypes. Furthermore, stratification analysis revealed a significant correlation between rs968697 TC/CC and hepatoblastoma risk for males and clinical stage I+II. The existence of 2-3 protective genotypes was correlated with decreased hepatoblastoma susceptibility in children ≥17 months old, males, and clinical stage I+II cases, when compared to 0-1 protective genotype. CONCLUSION To summarize, these results indicated that the HMGA2 gene SNPs exert a weak influence on hepatoblastoma susceptibility. Further validation of the current conclusion with a larger sample size covering multi-ethnic groups is warranted.
