Abstract
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous gammaherpesvirus that has been related to oncogenesis of lymphoid and epithelial malignancies. Although the mechanism of EBV infection of NK and T cells remains enigmatic, it plays a pathogenic role in various EBV+ NK-cell and T-cell lymphoproliferative diseases (LPDs), through promotion of cell activation pathways, inhibition of cell apoptotic pathways, behaving as oncogenes, interacting with host oncogenes or acting epigenetically. The study of NK-cell LPDs, previously hampered by the lack of immunophenotypical and genotypical criteria of NK cells, has become feasible with the recently accepted criteria. EBV+ NK- and T-cell LPDs are mostly of poor prognosis. This review delivers a short history from primeval to recent EBV+ NK- and T-cell LPDs in non-immunocompromised subjects, coupled with increasing interest, and work on the biological and oncogenic roles of EBV.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epstein-Barr virus-associated lymphoproliferative disorders (EBV-LPDs) are a group of disorders involving lymphoid tissues or lymphocytes. The epidemiology and economic burden of hospitalized children with EBV-LPDs in China have not been well studied. This study aimed to reveal the epidemic characteristics and disease burden of EBV-LPDs among the Chinese hospitalized children, providing strategies for the prevention and management. METHODS This study was based on the FUTang Updating medical REcords (FUTURE) database of China and collected the medical records from 27 tertiary children's hospitals between January 2016 and December 2021 in China, counting five types of EBV-LPDs, namely EBV-positive T-cell lymphoproliferative disease, NK/T cell lymphoma, extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (nasal type), systemic EBV-positive T-cell lymphoproliferative disease of childhood and posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorders. We conducted a retrospective syhthesis and analysis of the epidemiological characteristics, expenses, length of stay (LOS), as well as complications among hospitalized children diagnosed with five types of EBV-LPDs and compared parameters using appropriate statistical tests. RESULTS The study described 153 children aged 0-18 years hospitalized with EBV-LPDs from 2016 to 2021 in the FUTURE database. The male-to-female ratio was 1.10:1, and more than half of the age distribution was in the 6-12 y group. Among EBV-LPDs cases, EBV+ T-LPD accounted for the largest proportion (65.36%). Complications were presented in 93 children with EBV-LPDs, mainly hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). The median LOS of NKTL was 26.5 days [interquartile range (IQR) = 3-42], which was the longest among EBV-LPDs. The median hospitalization cost of PTLD was 10 785.74 United States dollars (IQR = 7 329.38-16 531.18), which was the heaviest among EBV-LPDs. CONCLUSIONS Compared with the total number of hospitalized children in China during the same period and in the same age group, the proportion of EBV-LPD is very low. EBV-LPD can develop in all age groups, but it is more common in school-age children. Among 5 EBV-LPDs, the disease with the highest proportion is EBV+ T-LPD. The overall disease burden of EBV-LPD was heavy, especially the economic burden. HLH was one of the most common complications, which could directly affect the burden of patients because of prolonged hospitalization. These data are taken from a very large database, illustrating the epidemiological and economic burden of EBV-LPDs hospitalized children in China, which enriched the existing epidemiological and disease burden content of EBV-LPDs.

Abstract
Viral-induced cutaneous T-cell lymphomas are an uncommon group of lymphoproliferative disorders characterized by a viral infection of T and natural killer (NK) cells. This group of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas is more commonly encountered in Asians and Native Americans from Central and South America compared with Western populations. Viral-associated lymphoproliferative disorders include a spectrum of entities that range from nonneoplastic lesions, such as chronic active Epstein-Barr virus infection and infective dermatitis to malignant diseases, such as extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, hydroa vacciniforme-like T-cell lymphoma, and adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma. This review article will focus on hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoproliferative disorder, extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma, lymphomatoid granulomatosis, and Epstein-Barr virus-positive mucocutaneous ulcers. We will review the pathogenesis of these conditions and the challenges of making a timely diagnosis in early-stage disease and discuss the common clinicopathologic manifestations, mutational landscape, and approaches to treat these highly aggressive and frequently lethal types of lymphoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Alcohol is a psychoactive substance that causes dependence, with many thousands of years in the history of mankind, being widely used in different cultures. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, alcohol is involved in the development of cancer, being directly associated with it. Considering that alcohol is involved in the initiation and dissemination of gastrointestinal malignancies, the objective of the study was to assess its role in the pathogenesis of T-cell lymphomas, as well as its possible correlation with chronic consumption. METHODS The patient cohort was compiled from the Sixth Medical Center of the People's Liberation Army Navy General Hospital in Beijing, China. A total of 30 patients matched the criteria and were enrolled in the study. Statistical analysis of the raw data was performed using R Statistics version R 3.5.1. released on the 29.08.2018. RESULTS Our data demonstrate that the most common extranodal involvment of T-cell lymphoma patients is represented in decreasing order by bone marrow, peritoneum, rhino-oropharynx and the liver-biliary system. Nodal involvement is mainly represented in decreasing order by the laterocervical, axillary, mediastinal and inguinal regions. CONCLUSIONS These findings may be of value in further research and practical/clinical settings. Fever is the most common clinical feature and was present in most studied patients.

Abstract
Background Systemic Epstein-Barr virus+ T-cell lymphoma (sEBV+ TCL) occurs in childhood and young adults, and is exceptionally rare in older adults. Methods We investigated clinicopathological features in 16 patients of various ages with systemic EBV+ CD8+ T-lymphoproliferative diseases. Results Eight younger patients and four of eight older adults had sEBV+ CD8+ TCL, with invasion by medium-sized to/or large atypical lymphocytes primarily in bone marrow and lymph nodes, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), and progressive clinicopathological course. A further two patients demonstrated EBV+ node-based CD8+ large TCL without HLH, while the remaining two had the systemic form of chronic active EBV infection (sCAEBV) with CD8+ small lymphocytes. Past history of sCAEBV-like lesions was observed in one sEBV+ TCL patient (8.3%). Immunohistologically, in 12 sEBV+ TCL patients, atypical lymphocytes were positive for phosphate signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (66.7%), CMYC (83.3%), and p53 (75%). Strong reactions of programmed cell death-ligand (PD-L)1+ tumor or non-neoplastic cells were detected in nine sEBV+ TCL patients (75%). Clonal peaks of the T-cell receptor (TCR) γ gene were detected in eight sEBV+ TCL patients by polymerase chain reaction. Four younger patients in sEBV+ TCL (33.3%) are in remission with chemotherapies including etoposide, and three of the four underwent allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT). Conclusion sEBV+ CD8+ TCL was observed in younger and older adults with less history of sCAEBV. HLH, tumor cell atypia, immunohistological findings, and progressive clinical course were characteristic of sEBV+ CD8+ TCL. Prompt chemotherapy and SCT induced tumor regression in sEBV+ CD8+ TCL patients.
