Comparative evaluation of the shaping ability of WaveOne, Reciproc and OneShape single-file systems in severely curved root canals of extracted teeth

To Evaluate Different Endodontic Instrumentation Systems Regarding Post-Operative Pain After Endodontic Therapy: A Clinical Study

BACKGROUND

Despite substantial breakthroughs in instrumentation systems and pharmaceutical interventions, pain following endodontic therapy remains a serious concern. The effect of the type of endodontic instrumentation system in post-operative pain after endodontic therapy has been a matter of debate.

AIM

To evaluate different endodontic instrumentation systems, namely Reciproc (GmbH, Munich), OneShape® (MicroMega, France), Protaper Gold (Dentsply Sirona, USA), and Hyflex® EDM (Coltène/Whaledent Inc., USA) file systems, regarding post-operative pain after endodontic therapy Methods and materials: The endodontic department treated healthy patients aged 20 to 50 years who were experiencing symptoms of irreparable pulpitis in one or more maxillary molars or mandibular molars. Five hundred was the determined size of the sample. The study participants were divided into five categories, each comprising 100 participants. These categories were: Category 1: Reciproc instrumentation system. Category 2: OneShape® instrumentation system. Category 3: ProtaperGold instrumentation system. Category 4: HyFlex® EDM instrumentation system. Category 5: Control (stainless steel K-files). Following endodontic therapy, these scores were recorded at 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours using the VAS scale.

RESULTS

The visual analog scale (VAS) score (mean±SD) in the control group was 0.73± 0.40 (<0.001). The VAS score in the Reciproc group was 0.43± 0.05 (<0.001). The VAS score in the OneShape® group was 0.36±0.09 (<0.001). The VAS score in the Protaper Gold group was 0.41 ±0.08 (<0.001). The VAS score in the HyFlex® EDM group was 0.55 ±0.02 (<0.001). The VAS score in all instrumentation techniques at 72 hours follow-up was lesser in comparison to a control group with meaningful statistical significance (<0.001). However, the post-operative pain among the Reciproc, OneShape®, Protaper Gold, and HyFlex® EDM instrumentation systems was not different clinically when compared among themselves. However, VAS values were greater in OneShape® and HyFlex® EDM compared to Reciproc and Protaper Gold, showing increased post-operative pain in OneShape and HyFlex® EDM compared to Reciproc and Protaper Gold. It was also observed that there was a decline in the VAS score in all instrumentation systems as the follow-up period increased from 6 hours to 72 hours, with maximum post-operative pain at 6 hours of follow-up and minimum post-operative pain at 72 hours of follow-up. However, the decline was lesser in OneShape® and HyFlex® EDM in comparison to Reciproc and Protaper Gold, with increased post-operative pain in OneShape® and HyFlex® EDM in comparison to Reciproc and Protaper Gold.

CONCLUSION

Post-operative pain at all follow-ups of endodontic procedures was less in Reciproc, OneShape®, Protaper Gold, and HyFlex® EDM than in the control group. VAS scores were higher in the OneShape® and HyFlex® EDM groups compared to the Reciproc and Protaper Gold groups, indicating increased post-operative pain with OneShape® and HyFlex® EDM instruments in comparison to Reciproc and Protaper Gold.

Using manual versus mechanized glide path instruments and ProTaper Gold versus ProTaper Next systems in curved canals: micro-CT study

The aim of this study was to evaluate the root canal shaping effect of ProTaper Gold (PTG) versus ProTaper Next (PTN) instrumentation systems, and of a manual #15 K-type file (K15) versus the ProGlider (PG) mechanized instrument for glide path creation, in severely curved mesial canals. Twenty-four mandibular molars with two separate mesial canals were anatomically matched using computed tomographic scanning, and then divided into two groups (n=12) according to the glide path instrument used, either K15 or PG. In all teeth, the PTG system was used to prepare the mesiobuccal canal, and the PTN, the mesiolingual canal. The teeth were scanned by computed microtomography, before and after root canal preparation, and the values of the initial volume, final volume, volumetric variation, untouched walls, and canal transportation variables were determined. The data were analyzed using the two-way ANOVA test, and the Tukey test for multiple comparisons. There was no significant difference among the study groups regarding volumetric variation or root canal transportation, either in the cervical, middle or apical thirds, or in the entire root canal (p>0.05). In the apical third, the percentage of untouched walls was significantly higher in groups using K15 than in those using PG (p<0.05), namely 33.144% and 23.285%, respectively, irrespective of the instrumentation system. In the other regions, there was no difference between K15 and PG regarding this variable. It was concluded that PG was associated with a lower rate of untouched walls in the apical region than K15.

Postoperative pain perception and associated risk factors in children after continuous rotation versus reciprocating kinematics: A randomised prospective clinical trial

To compare the postoperative pain of continuous rotation and reciprocating movements after pulpectomy of non-vital primary molars and determine associated risk factors. 146 children aged 4-8 years with one primary molar indicated for pulpectomy were randomly assigned to two equal groups: those instrumented with continuous rotation motion (Hyflex EDM Coltene/Whaledent) and reciprocating motion (Reciproc R25 (VDW)). A 4-point pain scale was used to assess postoperative pain frequencies, which were compared at different intervals using the Chi-square test. Postoperative pain risk factors were determined using logistic regression analysis. There was no statistically significant difference between the follow-ups. Gender, pulp status, and radiographic radiolucency increased the risk of postoperative pain incidence. Postoperative pain likelihood in children with chronic apical periodontitis was 8.72 times that of children with necrotic pulps. Postoperative pain after instrumentation with both kinematics was comparable. Postoperative pain incidence is increased by preoperative pulp condition, radiographic radiolucency, and gender.

Comparative evaluation of canal transportation and centering ability of rotary and reciprocating file systems using cone-beam computed tomography: An in vitro study

Aim

The aim of the study was to evaluate the canal transportation and centering ability of rotary and reciprocating file systems using cone-beam computed tomography.

Materials and Methods

Mesiobuccal canals of sixty mandibular molars were selected for the study. Canals of length 19 mm, curvature of 10°-12°, and uncalcified with fully formed apex were selected. Canals were randomly divided into three groups of 20 teeth, and canal preparation with the WaveOne Gold, TruNatomy, and One Curve systems was performed according to the manufacturers' instructions. Cone-beam computed tomographic images were taken before and after instrumentation in the same position for comparative analysis.

Statistical Analysis Used

Apical transportation was calculated at the distances of 2, 3, and 4 mm from the apex. Tukey's post hoc test and unpaired "t"-tests were used to statistically analyze the data.

Results

WaveOne Gold caused less canal transportation and better-centering ability than TruNatomy and One Curve at all the three levels; there was a significant difference in canal transportation and centering ability among all the groups as well as all the three levels, i.e., 2, 3, and 4 mm from the apex.

Conclusion

WaveOne Gold (Reciprocating) reported less canal transportation and better-centering ability than rotary instruments TruNatomy and One Curve (Rotary) at all the three levels.

Comparative Assessment of the Shaping Ability of Reciproc Blue, WaveOne Gold, and ProTaper Gold in Simulated Root Canals

Maintaining the original trajectory of the root canal is a major challenge in endodontic therapy, especially in narrow and curved root canals. The present study aims to assess the shaping capacity of three endodontic systems made of different nickel−titanium alloys on simulated curved root canals. Thirty-six endodontic resin blocks (Ref. V040245, VDW) divided into three groups, each of twelve blocks (n = 12), were shaped, photographed, and analyzed: Group 1-Protaper Gold (PTG) (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) F2 25/08; Group 2-Reciproc Blue (RB), RB 25/08 (VDW, Munich, Germany); Group 3-WaveOne Gold (WOG) (Dentsply Maillefer), WOG 25/07. Each block was standardized and photographed before and after shaping in the same position, with the foramen oriented to the left. Post-shaping images were superimposed onto the initial ones. Thirteen measurement points were used for evaluation, spaced with 1 mm distance from one another, from level 0, apical foramen, to level 12, coronal orifice. The amount of removed resin from inner (X1) and outer (X2) walls, the direction of transportation (X1 − X2), and the centering ability (X1 − X2)/Y were measured, calculated, and comparatively analyzed. Statistical differences (p < 0.05) were observed between the shaping capacity of the considered systems in the middle and coronal thirds. PTG had a better centering ability than WOG and RB in the coronal third, while RB was more centered in the middle third in comparison to both WOG and PTG. In the apical third, the centering capacity of WOG was higher, without being statistically significant. WOG 25/07 and PTG 25/08 tend to cut more on the inner wall of the root canals, and RB 25/08 on the external one.

Instrumentation Kinematics Does Not Affect Bacterial Reduction, Post-Operative Pain and flare-ups: A Randomized Clinical Trial

AIM

This randomized clinical trial aimed to assess the effect of instrumentation kinematics (reciprocation or continuous rotation) on bacterial reduction, post-operative pain and incidence of flare-ups after root canal treatment of single-rooted mandibular premolars with asymptomatic apical periodontitis.

METHODOLOGY

Sixty-six patients were included in this prospective, parallel, randomized clinical trial. Patients were randomly allocated into two groups (N=33) according to the kinematics of the shaping instrument: WaveOne Gold (WO) used in reciprocation or One Shape (OS) used in continuous rotation. Under complete asepsis, bacterial samples were taken before (S1) and after (S2) a standard cleaning and shaping protocol. Evaluation of bacterial reduction was done by both culture technique and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis. Post-operative pain was evaluated using the visual analog scale (VAS) after 24, 48- and 72-hours following treatment, while flare-ups were recorded as a binary outcome (Yes/No). Independent and paired t-tests were used for inter and intragroup comparisons for bacterial count data respectively. For post-operative pain score, intergroup comparisons were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test while intragroup comparisons were analyzed using Friedman test followed by pairwise comparisons utilizing Wilcoxon signed rank test with Bonferroni correction. The significance level was set at p≤0.05 within all tests.

RESULTS

All the allocated participants received the intervention and were analyzed. The comparison between culture and qPCR methods showed that qPCR analysis demonstrated significantly higher pre-instrumentation baseline bacterial count (p<0.05). The percentage of bacterial reduction, detected by either method, significantly decreased after instrumentation using either rotation or reciprocation kinematics (p<0.05). However, the difference between the WOG or OS files was statistically non-significant (p>0.05). The intra-group comparisons showed a significant reduction in post-operative pain with time (p<0.05) for both groups. However, the inter-group comparison demonstrated that the difference in post-operative pain after the use of either WOG or OS was statistically non-significant (p>0.05). The incidence of flare-ups between both groups was also not-significant (p=1).

CONCLUSIONS

Shaping kinematics, either rotation or reciprocation motions, had no impact on bacterial reduction and the incidence of post-operative pain and flare-ups after root canal preparation of single-rooted premolars with asymptomatic apical periodontitis.

Comparison of Canal Transportation, Separation Rate, and Preparation Time between One Shape and Neoniti (Neolix): An In Vitro CBCT Study

Purpose

This in vitro study compared root canal preparation in curved mesiobuccal canals of molar teeth using either the One Shape™ or the Neoniti (Neolix) rotary NiTi single-file systems, assessing canal transportation, instrument separation and time required for preparation. Methods. Extracted maxillary and mandibular human molar teeth with mesiobuccal canals having apical angles of curvature between 25 and 35^o were selected and embedded in acrylic resin blocks, and an initial CBCT was taken. The teeth were divided into two equal groups (n = 20), and the canals were cleaned and shaped using either Neoniti™ or One Shape™ engine-driven NiTi rotary files. Each individual instrument was used to prepare 5 canals. The time required for the preparation of each canal was recorded. Postpreparation CBCT scans were taken and used to determine the extent of canal transportation at levels of 2, 4, 6, and 8 mm from the apex. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test for normality was applied, and then, datasets were compared using independent t-tests, with a threshold of P < 0.05.

Results

Neoniti rotary files caused significantly less canal transportation of the curved canals (P=0.0001). On the other hand, the time required for canal preparation was significantly shorter for One Shape (P=0.0001). No instrument separation was recorded in both groups.

Conclusion

Based on these results, the Neoniti™ rotary file system is preferred because it maintains the original shape of curved root canals better than One Shape™; even though this benefit comes at the cost of an increase in preparation time in clinical practice, the better technical performance may be more important than a difference in procedural time.

Effect of number of uses and sterilization on the instrumented area and resistance of reciprocating instruments

Objectives

This study evaluated the effect of repeated uses and autoclaving in the instrumented area, fracture resistance, and time of instrumentation of thermally treated nickel-titanium reciprocating systems.

Materials and Methods

Two hundred simulated canals were instrumented using Reciproc Blue and WaveOne Gold. Each file was used up to 10 times or until fracture. The instrumented area was measured in pre- and post-operative images, using ImageJ software. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis evaluated the number of uses of instruments before fracture. Instrumented area and time of instrumentation were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis. Correlations among the number of uses and instrumented area were measured. The level of statistical significance was set at p < 0.05.

Results

Reciproc Blue presented a higher estimated number of uses in comparison with WaveOne Gold (p = 0.026), but autoclaving did not affect the resistance to fracture of instruments (p > 0.05). The instrumented area was different among the evaluated groups (p = 0.039), and the instrumented area along the uses of both tested instruments was reduced. With the time of instrumentation, there was also a significant difference among the evaluated groups; the groups without sterilization cycles were faster, in comparison to those submitted to autoclaving (p = 0.010).

Conclusions

Reciproc Blue was more resistant than WaveOne Gold, suffering later fracture. Additionally, the sterilization cycles did not influence the estimated number of uses of thermally treated reciprocating instruments, but the instrumented area of root canals was reduced along with the repeated uses of both instruments.

On comprehensive analysis of root canal shaping ability of three endodontic files of different kinematics

Infection of the tooth's root canal requires what is called root canal treatment (RTC). The most important part of endodontic treatment is to shape the root canal and remove its infected portion using endodontic files of various protocols, kinematics and designs that suit the particular geometry. Cleaning and Shaping the canal efficiently remove the root canal bacterial biofilms or tissue remnants while keeping its natural geometry. The result is determined by shaping the ability of the relevant endodontic file. In the available literature, no norm has been established for the measurement of various endodontic files' ability to do effective shaping. We present in this study a method to analyse and measure the shaping ability of endodontic files of three different kinematics.

Shaping ability of a new heat-treated NiTi system in continuous rotation or reciprocation in artificial curved canals

The purpose is to evaluate canal transportation of a new heat-treated NiTi system, the Endostar E3 Azure operated in continuous rotation or reciprocation. 40 resin blocks were divided into two groups. The first was shaped in continuous rotation while the second in reciprocation. A preoperative and two postoperative images were taken, one after the use of the 20/06 and one after the 25/06. The images were superimposed to determine canal transportation. Time required for canal shaping was recorded. One-sample and student t tests, repeated-measure analyses of variance, univariate analyses and Bonferroni multiple comparisons tests were used for statistical analysis. The significance level was set at p < 0.05. There was no significant difference between continuous and reciprocating motion with the 20/06 and 25/06, respectively, at 1 mm (p = 0.761, p = 0.559), 2 mm (p = 0.584, p = 0.810) and 3 mm (p = 0.651, p = 0.070). The reciprocating motion showed significantly less canal transportation at 5 mm (p = 0.049, p < 0.001) and 7 mm (p < 0.001, p < 0.001) for the 20/06 and 25/0.6. Continuous rotation was more time-consuming than reciprocation (p < 0.001). The Endostar E3 Azure in reciprocation respected the original canal curvature better than in continuous rotation at all levels, and required less time to prepare artificial curved canals. Endodontists should know the shaping abilities of novel heat-treated NiTi files, regarding canal transportation and its relation with the instruments' motion and apical diameter enlargement.

Root canal curvature as a prognostic factor influencing the diagnostic accuracy of radiographic working length determination and postoperative canal axis modification: an in vitro comparative study

Background

Radiographic analysis of tooth morphology is mandatory for accurate calibration of the degree of canal curvature angle and radiographic working length to its real dimensions in case difficulty assessment protocols. This study aimed to determine the impact of the degree of root canal curvature angle on maintaining the real working length and the original canal axis of prepared root canals using a reciprocating rotary instrumentation technique.

Methods

Radiographic image analysis was performed on 60 extracted single-rooted human premolar teeth with a moderate canal curvature (10°–25°) and severe canal curvature (26°–70°). Working length and longitudinal canal axis were determined using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and digital periapical radiography. The real canal length was determined by subtracting 0.5 mm from the actual canal length. Root canals were prepared using the WaveOne Gold reciprocating file (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland).

Results

There was no significant relation of the degree of canal curvature angle to the accuracy of radiographic working length estimated on CBCT and digital periapical radiographic techniques (P > 0.05). Postinstrumentation changes in the original canal axis between moderate and severe canal curvature angles, assessed on CBCT and periapical digital radiographic images were statistically non-significant (P > 0.05).

Conclusions

A standardized digital periapical radiographic method performed similarly to the CBCT technique near to its true working length. No significant interaction exists between the diagnostic working length estimation, postoperative root canal axis modification, and the degree of canal curvature angle, using reciprocating rotary instrumentation technique.

Assessment of root canal transportation of 2Shape and ProTaper gold in mandibular molar mesial canals: A micro-computed tomographic study

The aim of this study was to compare shaping abilities of Protaper Gold® (PTG) and 2Shape® (TS) by using a new automatic process and micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT). 32 first mandibular molars with two separate mesial canals were selected. Only mesial roots were prepared with PTG and TS. Pre- and post-operative scans were performed using Micro-CT to provide volumes with a voxel size of 20 μm. Volumes, non-instrumented area, amount of transportation and centering ability in coronal, middle and apical third shaping time and procedural errors were recorded. TS and PTG increased the endodontic volume of 2.98 mm³ (±1.56) and 3.21 mm³ (±1.78) respectively with no statistical difference (p = .168) and no procedural errors. No significant difference was found concerning canal transportation among groups but only within the same group PTG (p value < .001) and TS (p value < .001). The mean centering ratio was significantly different only between the section levels for PTG (p value < .001) and TS (p value = .01); it was significantly reduced in the cervical third. The percentage of untouched canal walls ranged between 29.78% (±15.145) and 36.60% (±11.968) respectively for PTG and TS with no statistical difference among groups (p value = .168). TS and PTG with post machining heat treatment were able to produce centered preparations with no significant difference or procedural errors. TS system provided a shorter preparation time than PTG files.

Undergraduate Students' Acceptance of a Reciprocating One-File System for Endodontic Treatment

OBJECTIVES

Reciprocating endodontic one-file systems are a comparatively new method for root canal shaping. Even though the mechanical properties are comparable to modern rotating mechanical systems, data about subjective assessment and application quality are scarce. This study evaluates the reciprocating one-file system in undergraduate education.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

A total of 42 undergraduate students without experience regarding reciprocating file systems filled in a questionnaire in four different points in time (t ₁-t ₄) anonymously. The questionnaire was based on a numerical rating scale ranging from 0 to 10.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

A least significant difference post-hoc analysis comparing the group average values was performed. The adjusted level of significance was p < 0.004 after Bonferroni correction.

RESULTS

All rating scores increased after the first theoretical instruction. After the first practical training in artificial root canals in resin blocks and extracted teeth (t ₂), the estimation of "time efficiency" (p = 0.002), "handling" (p < 0.001), and "overall impression" (p < 0.001) improved significantly. The "overall impression" remained constant and showed no significant changes after the first practical training.

CONCLUSIONS

Reciprocating systems seem to show a good acceptance among first time users. Initial concerns about "work safety" decrease during every step of the educational process. Reciprocating one-file systems are a safe and well-accepted method in undergraduate teaching.

A micro-CT evaluation of the performance of rotary and reciprocating single-file systems in shaping ability of curved root canals

To compare the shaping ability of different single-file systems in the preparation of mesial curved canals of mandibular molars using micro-CT technology. Fifteen mesial roots of mandibular molars with two independent and curved canals (n = 30) were selected, scanned at a resolution of 26.7 μm anatomically matched, and distributed into three groups (n = 10), according to the preparation system: WaveOne 25.08, Reciproc 25.08, and OneShape 25.06. A final micro-CT scanning was performed, data sets were registered with their respective counterparts, and compared regarding the three-dimensional (volume, surface area, and structure model index - SMI) and two-dimensional (perimeter, area, roundness, major and minor diameters) parameters, as well as, canal transportation, using ANOVA and post hoc Tukey tests (α = 5%). Overall, no difference was observed between groups regarding area, perimeter, volume, surface area, and canal transportation (p > 0.05). Within group, no canal transportation was significantly higherobserved in the apical third (0.10 ± 0.05 mm) compared to coronal (0.08±0.040 mm) and middle (0.07 ± 0.03 mm) thirds (p < 0.05). Structure model index (SMI) was statistically higher after preparation with OneShape instrument (0.36 ± 0.26) compared to other systems (p < 0.05). Within the parameters of this study, similar shaping ability was observed in the preparation of mesial curved root canals of mandibular molars with Reciproc, OneShape and WaveOne systems.

A mathematical model for root canal preparation using Endodontic file

Aim

To develop the mathematical model for root canal preparation using Endodontic file.

Method

The process of obturation consist of the filling of the root canal cavity using heated and softened gutta-percha to get the fluid tight seal in between the canal wall and filled gutta-percha. Any obturation process to perform before it requires the preparation of the root canal which involves the removing dead tissue, substrates and debris from the decayed root canal. The various geometric parameters viz. Taper, relative angle for orientation of cross-section between two planes, pitch and polar symmetry constant of the Endodontic file etc. Geometric parameters are derived. The various performance parameters like Endodontic file life assessment, cutting force components (tangential and normal), substrate removal rate, torque exerted by Endodontic file etc are also derived successfully. The Endodontic file life is estimated based on two approaches viz. speed and volumetric wear approach.

Conclusion

The mathematical model described is helpful for the Endodontic experts, researchers, design engineers etc. However the applicability of the described mathematical model limited to assumption of study. The gap between root canal to be prepared and Endodontic file is zero while preparation. The Endodontic file weight, speed of rotation and substrate removal rate is assumed to be constant. The mathematical model for Endodontic file discussed above proved to be efficient tool for studying the root canal preparation. The various geometric parameters and the various performance parameters are derived.

The influence of kinematics of engine-driven nickel-titanium instruments on root canal shape assessed by micro-computed tomography: a systematic review

AIM

To evaluate if the kinematics of engine-driven instruments affect the root canal shape.

METHOD

The systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD 42017077043). A broad search was performed for articles published before 26 September 2018 in the electronic databases: pubmed, scopus, web of science and Lilacs using MeSH and free terms. Only in vitro studies with human teeth that evaluated root canal shape by volume, surface area and unprepared surface area using reciprocating and rotary system assessed by micro-computed tomography were included. A modified checklist for randomized controlled trials from the Joanna Briggs Institute was used to assess the risk of bias.

RESULTS

Twenty-one articles were selected. According to quality assessment, all studies were considered 'moderate methodological quality'. Eighteen articles analysed volume increase, only four studies showed statistically significant difference, three indicating that the reciprocating movement obtained a greater increase in volume than the rotary system and one rotary system obtained a greater increase. Twelve studies analysed surface area, only three studies showed statistically significant difference, two presented a reciprocating system revealing greater amount of surface area and one showed a rotary system obtained a greater amount of surface area. Ten articles evaluated unprepared surface area, two studies that analysed total length, one study presented that the rotary system revealed lower unprepared surface area while another study showed reciprocating with less unprepared area. One study analysed middle and apical third, and observed that the rotary system presented lower unprepared surface area in the middle third.

CONCLUSIONS

Both the rotary and reciprocating kinematics produce changes in volume and surface area and leave unprepared areas in the root canal, however reciprocating system showed greater increase of volume and surface area, while the rotary system maintains less unprepared surface area.

Shaping Ability of 2Shape and WaveOne Gold Files Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography

Aim and Objective:

The aim of this study is to evaluate the apical transportation, centering ability, and volume of removed dentin of WaveOne Gold (WOG) and 2Shape with the use of cone-beam computed tomography.

Materials and Methods:

Freshly extracted mandibular teeth with sample size of thirty were carefully chosen and instrumented using the 2Shape and WOG rotary files. Preoperative and postinstrumentation cone-beam computed tomographic scans were done to accomplish mesial and distal dentin walls’ measurements and volume of removed dentin calculations, apical transportation, and centering ratio. Statistical analysis was performed and confirmed by independent t-test. Statistical significance was set at 5%.

Results:

When shaping ability of 2Shape and WOG was evaluated, it was reported that there was no statistically significant differences noted among the groups in relation to the total volume of removed dentin, apical transportation, and centering ratio.

Conclusion:

It can be concluded that 2Shape and WOG preserved the original canal anatomy well and did not eliminate excess dentin during shaping and cleaning. Rotary nickel–titanium files which work on the principle of rotary movement attained an outcome analogous to that of the rotary files working on reciprocating motion in relation to alteration in angle.

Performance of Reciproc Blue R25 Instruments in Shaping the Canal Space without Glide Path

INTRODUCTION

This study assessed the frequency in which Reciproc Blue R25 instruments (VDW, Munich, Germany) reached the full working length (WL) of mandibular molar canals without a glide path. The influence of the type of electric motor (ie, conventional corded or cordless) on the instrument's performance was also assessed.

METHODS

One hundred mandibular molars with slight to moderate root canals were selected and randomly assigned into 1 of 2 experimental groups according to the type of electric motor used: conventional corded (VDW Silver, VDW) or cordless motors (VDW.CONNECT Drive, VDW). Therefore, 50 molars and 154 root canals were selected for each motor. Reciproc Blue R25 instruments were used until reaching two thirds of the estimated WL. Then, a size 10 K-file was passively inserted to determine the full WL. No active instrumentation movement was performed with a size 10 K-file. Independently, whether a size 10 K-file reached the apex or not, Reciproc Blue R25 instruments were used to complete canal preparation. When the Reciproc Blue R25 instrument was able to reach the full WL, the case was classified as "reaching the full working length" (RFWL). If the instrument was not able to reach the full WL, the case was classified as "not reaching the full working length" (NRFWL). The chi-square test of goodness of fit was used to verify whether the observed frequencies of RFWL and NRFWL adhered to the expected ones. A 5% cutoff level of significance was considered for statistical assumptions.

RESULTS

Reciproc Blue R25 instruments were able to reach the full WL in 304 root canals (98.70%). The chi-square test revealed the observed frequencies of RFWL and NRFWL to be significantly different from the expected frequencies (χ² = 292,208, P = .000). The frequency of RFWL and NRFWL was exactly the same for both types of electric motors. No instrument fractured, and a single file deformed. In 50 of 308 root canals, a size 10 K-file was unable to passively reach the full WL. From these 50 canals, Reciproc Blue R25 instruments were able to reach the full WL in 47 of them.

CONCLUSIONS

Reciproc Blue R25 instruments were able to reach the full WL in a high frequency of cases. The type of electric motor used did not interfere in the frequency of RFWL cases. No instrument fractured, and a single file deformed.

Calcium Hypochlorite Solutions - An In Vitro Evaluation of Antimicrobial Action and Pulp Dissolution

Objective:

To compare the antimicrobial activity and tissue dissolution capacity of calcium hypochlorite (Ca(OCl)₂) solution with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution at 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.5%, and 5.25% concentrations.

Methods:

To determine the inhibition halos produced by the tested substances against Enterococcus faecalis, the agar diffusion method was employed. Additionally, the broth contact method was used to determine the time required for the inhibition of E. faecalis. Bovine pulp fragments were used to test the dissolution. Half of the pulps were freely deposited samples in cell culture wells, and the remaining samples were fixed on bovine dentine bases.

Results:

For both Ca(OCl)₂ and NaOCl solutions, the greatest inhibition zones were observed at 5.25% con-centration. However, the most significant inhibition zone was measured with 5.25% Ca(OCl)₂ solution (17.38 mm). Hypochlorite solutions at 2.5% and 5.25% concentrations required less time to inhibit E. faecalis than those at 0.5% and 1.0% concentrations (P<0.05). There was no difference in inhibition times between 2.5% and 5.25% hypochlorite solutions (P>0.05). The most effective hypochlorite solution concentrations were 5.25% and 2.5% for dissolving pulp fragments (P<0.05). Additionally, suspended pulp fragments were more susceptible to dissolution than fragments attached to dentine blocks (P<0.05), except for 0.5% Ca(OCl)₂.

Conclusion:

Ca(OCl)₂ solutions showed antimicrobial activity against E. faecalis and can dissolve pulp tissues. Future studies are warranted to examine the suitability of Ca(OCl)₂ in the chemico–mechanical preparation of the root canal system.

Root Canal Shaping Using Nickel Titanium, M-Wire, and Gold Wire: A Micro-computed Tomographic Comparative Study of One Shape, ProTaper Next, and WaveOne Gold Instruments in Maxillary First Molars

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this study was to evaluate the root canal shaping effect of instruments manufactured from nickel titanium, M-Wire, and Gold wire with different glide path preparation techniques.

METHODS

One hundred thirty-five mesiobuccal canals of extracted human maxillary molars were randomly divided into 3 equal groups (N = 45) for glide path preparation with K-files (KF) (Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Switzerland), One G (OG) files (Micro-Mega, Besançon, France), and ProGlider (PG) files (Dentsply Sirona). Specimens of each glide path group were further divided equally into 3 groups for instrumentation with ProTaper Next (PTN, Dentsply Sirona), One Shape (OS, Micro-Mega), and WaveOne Gold (WOG, Dentsply Sirona) systems (n = 15). Micro-computed tomographic imaging was used to scan teeth before instrumentation and after shaping to compare centering ratio and canal transportation values at the apical, midroot, and coronal levels and the overall changes in canal volume. Data sets were statistically analyzed (analysis of variance and Kruskal-Wallis H tests).

RESULTS

The centering ratios for all groups were statistically similar at all levels. Apical canal transportation was significantly high for K/OS and K/PTN (P = .003). Midroot canal transportation was significantly high for K/PTN, K/OS, and OG/OS (P = .0003). Coronal canal transportation was significantly high for K/PTN and K/OS (P = .011). The highest change in canal volume was observed with all PTN groups and the lowest with PG/WOG (P = .06).

CONCLUSIONS

WOG manufactured from Gold wire combined with PG showed better root canal shaping ability and removed less dentin from the canal walls. The nickel-titanium (OS) and M-Wire (PTN) instruments used in combination with KF significantly transported more canals. PTN removed the most dentin from the canal walls regardless of the GPP technique.

Cone-beam Computed Tomographic Analysis of Canal Transportation and Centering Ability of Single-file Systems

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this study was to compare canal transportation and the centering ability of Reciproc (VDW, Munich, Germany), WaveOne (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland), and EdgeFile (EdgeEndo, Albuquerque, NM) rotary systems using cone-beam computed tomographic imaging.

METHODS

Ninety mesiobuccal mandibular first molar uncalcified canals with at least a 19-mm length, a canal curvature of 15°-30° (the Schneider method), and a mature apex were selected. Canals were randomly divided into 3 groups of 30 teeth, and canal preparation with the Reciproc, WaveOne, and EdgeFile systems was performed according to the manufacturers' instructions. Cone-beam computed tomographic images were taken before and after instrumentation in the same position. Apical transportation was calculated in the distances of 2, 3, and 4 mm from the apex. Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used to statistically analyze the data.

RESULTS

The mean canal transportation was significantly lower with EdgeFile (P < .001) followed by the WaveOne rotary system. Moreover, the centering ability of the EdgeFile system was higher than that of the WaveOne and Reciproc systems.

CONCLUSIONS

The EdgeFile rotary system showed the lowest transportation in both the mesiodistal and buccolingual directions and the highest centering ability. The Reciproc system showed the highest transportation and the lowest centering ability.

Comparative Evaluation of Root Canal Transportation by Three NiTi Single-File Systems in Curved Canals: A Cone Beam Computed Tomography Study

Introduction

This study is aimed at evaluating root canal transportation in the mesiobuccal canal of mandibular first molars prepared with One Shape, Reciproc, and M-One nickel titanium (NiTi) single-file rotary systems using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials and Methods

In this ex vivo study, CBCT scans of 45 extracted human mandibular first molars with 20–40° curvature were obtained. The teeth were randomly divided into three groups (n=15) for preparation of the mesiobuccal canal with One Shape, Reciproc, and M-One rotary systems according to the manufacturers' instructions. CBCT scans were obtained again after canal preparation. Changes caused by preparation in the coronal, middle, and apical thirds were determined on CBCT scans and analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test at P ≤ 0.05 level of significance.

Results

No significant difference was noted in the amount of canal transportation among the three groups (P > 0.05). M-One caused greater transportation in the apical third compared with Reciproc and One Shape, and One Shape caused greater transportation in the coronal third compared with other groups, although its magnitude was less than 0.3 mm.

Conclusion

Reciproc, One Shape, and M-One are not significantly different in terms of canal transportation.

Multidimensional Analysis of Curved Root Canal Preparation Using Continuous or Reciprocating Nickel-titanium Instruments

Objective:

To evaluate transportation (T) and centering ability (CA) of root canal preparations using continuous or reciprocating nickel-titanium endodontic files.

Materials and Methods:

Ninety-six mesiobuccal root canals of mandibular first and second molars were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=16) according to the rotary file used: 1. ProTaper Next; 2. ProTaper Gold; 3. Mtwo; 4. BioRaCe; 5. WaveOne Gold; 6. Reciproc. Root canals were prepared according to manufacturer’s instructions. Cone beam computed tomography scans were obtained before and after root canal preparation. Measurements were made at six different reference points: 2, 3 and 4 mm from the apex and 2, 3 and 4 mm below furcation in different directions.

Results:

The greatest Mesiodistal (MD) Transportation (T) was found for Reciproc files (p<0.05), and the greatest buccolingual (BL) T, for Reciproc, ProTaper Gold and ProTaper Next files (p<0.05). The greatest Mesiodistal (MD) Centering Ability (CA) was found for BioRaCe files (p<0.05), and the greatest Buccolingual (BL) CA, for BioRaCe and Mtwo files (p<0.05).

Conclusion:

All systems produced root canal transportation. No file system achieved perfect CA of root preparation. Reciproc files had the greatest MD T and BL T. BioRaCe files had the greatest MD CA, whereas BL CA was similar for BioRaCe and Mtwo files.

Comparative evaluation of dentinal crack formation after root canal preparation using ProTaper Next, OneShape, and Hyflex EDM

Introduction:

The purpose of this study was to compare the incidence of dentinal crack formation after root canal preparation using ProTaper Next, OneShape, and Hyflex electrodischarge machining (HEDM).

Materials and Methods:

A total of 75 extracted mandibular premolars were selected. The root canals were instrumented using ProTaper Next, OneShape, and HEDM rotary files. All roots were horizontally sectioned at 3, 6, and 9 mm from apex with slow-speed saw under water cooling. The sections were observed under a stereomicroscope at ×25 to determine the absence or presence of crack. Data were analyzed using post hoc test and one-way ANOVA.

Results:

ProTaper Next and HEDM produced significantly less cracks than OneShape.

Conclusion:

Within the limitation of this in vitro study, it can be concluded that nickel–titanium instruments may cause cracks on the root surface. ProTaper Next and HEDM tend to produce less number of cracks as compared to OneShape.

Canal shaping of different single-file systems in curved root canals

Background/Purpose

This study compared maintenance of canal anatomy, occurrence of apical transportation, and working time observed after instrumentation with One Shape New Generation rotary system (Micro-Mega), with those observed after instrumentation with Reciproc (VDW) and WaveOne (Dentsply-Maillefer) reciprocating systems.

Materials and methods

The mesial canals of 45 mandibular molars (curvature angles between 35° and 45°) were selected. Specimens were randomly divided into three groups, and canal preparations were performed using One Shape, Reciproc, or WaveOne systems (size #25). A digital double radiographic technique was used to determine apical transportation and change in angle of curvature. Also, working time and instrument failures were recorded. Data were statistically analyzed.

Results

During preparation, no file fractured. No statistically significant differences were found among groups. No system showed a significantly faster preparation time than others (P > 0.05). All instruments maintained the original canal curvature well and were safe to use.

Conclusion

Both continuous rotary instrument and reciprocating systems did not have any influence on the presence of apical transportation or caused an alteration in angle of canal curvature.

Comparative Assessment of Canal Transportation and Centering Ability of Reciproc and One Shape File Systems Using CBCT-An In Vitro Study

INTRODUCTION

Root canal preparation leads to deviation of the canal anatomy causing canal transportation which affects the success of the treatment. Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a non invasive imaging technique to analyse the shape of the root canal before and after the preparation.

AIM

The purpose of this study was to investigate and evaluate the canal transportation in curved mandibular molar root canals and centering ability of Reciproc and One Shape file systems after instrumentation using CBCT.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Twenty mandibular molars were taken and allocated into two groups (n=10): Group 1-One Shape and Group 2-Reciproc. The canals were then scanned using CS 3D CBCT scanner (Carestream) before and after preparation, to assess the transportation and centering values at different levels respectively from the apex. The data gathered were then assessed statistically with Mann-Whitney test.

RESULTS

Analysis revealed that Reciproc and One Shape showed statistically no significant difference in terms of canal transportation and centering ability (p>0.05).

CONCLUSION

One shape and Reciproc performed similar in terms of canal transportation & centering ability.

Comparison of Postoperative Pain after Root Canal Preparation with Two Reciprocating and Rotary Single-File Systems: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Introduction:

Root canal preparation techniques may cause postoperative pain. The aim of the present study was to compare the intensity of postoperative pain after endodontic treatment using hand files, single file rotary (OneShape), and single file reciprocating (Reciproc) systems.

Methods and Materials:

In this single-blind, parallel-grouped randomized clinical trial a total of 150 healthy patients aged between 20 to 50 years old were diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis of one maxillary or mandibular molars. The teeth were randomly assigned to three groups according to the root canal instrumentation technique: hand files (control), OneShape and Reciproc. Treatment was performed in a single visit by an endodontist. The severity of the postoperative pain was assessed by the visual analogue scale (VAS) after 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests.

Results:

The patients in control group reported significantly higher mean postoperative pain intensity at 12, 24, 48, and 72 h compared to the patients in the two other groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in mean intensity of postoperative pain between Reciproc and OneShape at 5 time points (P>0.05).

Conclusion:

The instrumentation kinematics (single-file reciprocating or single-file rotary) had no impact on intensity of postoperative pain.

Evaluation of canal transportation after preparation with Reciproc single-file systems with or without glide path files

Background:

Canal transportation is a common sequel caused by rotary instruments.

Aims:

The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the degree of transportation after the use of Reciproc single-file instruments with or without glide path files.

Methods:

Thirty resin blocks with L-shaped canals were divided into three groups (n = 10). Group 1 - canals were prepared with Reciproc-25 file. Group 2 - glide path file-G1 was used before Reciproc. Group 3 - glide path files-G1 and G2 were used before Reciproc. Pre- and post-instrumentation images were superimposed under microscope, and resin removed from the inner and outer surfaces of the root canal was calculated throughout 10 points.

Results:

Statistical analysis was performed with Kruskal–Wallis test and post hoc Dunn test. For coronal and middle one-thirds, there was no significant difference among groups (P > 0.05). For apical section, transportation of Group 1 was significantly higher than other groups (P < 0.05).

Conclusion:

Using glide path files before Reciproc single-file system reduced the degree of apical canal transportation.

Shaping Ability of ProTaper Next, WaveOne, and Reciproc in Simulated Root Canals

INTRODUCTION

The study aimed to compare the shaping and preservation of the original curvature of simulated curved root canals using the following instruments: Reciproc (Rcp), WaveOne (Wo), and the ProTaper Next system (Ptn).

MATERIALS AND METHODS

A total of 45 resin blocks with simulated curved root canals were divided into three groups (n = 15), prepared using the Rcp (R25), Wo (25/0.8), and Ptn (X2) instruments. Standardized photographs were taken before and after canal instrumentation. After the superimposition of the images, the amount of resin removed from the curvature's inner and outer walls was measured at six apical levels, at intervals of 1 mm. The canals' angles of curvature before and after instrumentation were subtracted.

RESULTS

There were no significant differences between the instruments in terms of the total amount of resin removed of the inner or outer walls of the apical curvature (p > 0.05). The Rcp instruments provided the best resin removed ratios between the walls. The means of the change in angle were as follows: Wo = 2.15°, Ptn = 0.92°, and Rcp = 0.21°. WaveOne caused significantly higher deviations than Rcp.

CONCLUSION

All of the instruments demonstrated a tendency to straighten the simulated root canal. Instruments that use rotary movement achieved an effect similar to that of the reciprocating instruments in relation to change in angle.

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Deviations from the original shape of the root canal could have a negative impact on the quality of a filling and consequently on the success of the endodontic treatment.

Single file reciprocating systems: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature: Comparison of reciproc and WaveOne

The introduction of single-file nickel-titanium (NiTi) reciprocating systems has been a major breakthrough in the field of endodontics. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the available reciprocating systems, Reciproc and WaveOne, using a meta-analysis with different parameters. A comprehensive electronic literature search for Reciproc and WaveOne using PubMed and Google scholar was initially conducted in September 2014 and updated in September 2016. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were then established. Twenty-six studies were qualified for the systematic review, and only three studies were considered for the meta-analysis using cyclic fatigue resistance as the main parameter. The time to fracture for the Reciproc and WaveOne systems ranged from 119.7 sec to 156.4 sec and 74.8 sec to 99.6 sec, respectively. The pooled difference in mean time to fracture was longer for the Reciproc system by 45.6 sec. This difference was statistically significantly at P value < 0.001. In conclusion, our study supports the finding that Reciproc is more resistant to cyclic fatigue than WaveOne. However, with regard to other parameters, mixed results were obtained. Well-designed randomized clinical trials comparing both systems under the same experimental conditions should be done in future studies.

A Comparative Study of Shaping Ability of four Rotary Systems

PURPOSE

This study compared the cutting area, instrumentation time, root canal anatomy preservation and non-instrumented areas obtained by F360(®), Mtwo(®), RaCe(®) and Hyflex(®) files with ISO size 35.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

120 teeth with a single straight root and root canal were divided into 4 groups. Working length was calculated by using X-rays. The teeth were sectioned with a handpiece and a diamond disc, and the sections were observed with Nikon SMZ-2T stereoscopic microscope and an Intralux 4000-1 light source. The groups were adjusted with a preoperative analysis with AutoCAD. The teeth were reconstructed by a #10 K-File and epoxy glue. Each group was instrumented with one of the four file systems. The instrumentation time was calculated with a 1/100 second chronometer. The area of the thirds and root canal anatomy preservation were analyzed with AutoCAD 2013 and the non-instrumented areas with AutoCAD 2013 and SMZ-2T stereoscopic microscope. The statistical analysis was made with Levene's Test, ANOVA, Bonferroni Test and Pearson´s Chi-square.

RESULTS

Equal variances were shown by Levene's Test (P > 0.05). ANOVA (P > 0.05) showed the absence of significant differences. There were significant differences in the instrumentation time (P < 0.05). For root canal anatomy preservation and non-instrumented areas, there were no significant differences between all systems (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONS

The 4 different rotary systems produced similar cutting area, root canal anatomy preservation and non-instrumented areas. Regarding instrumentation time, F360(®) was the fastest system statistically.

Comparison of curved root canals preparation using reciprocating, continuous and an association of motions

The aim of this study was to compare the rotary ProTaper Universal system, the single-file reciprocating WaveOne system and an association of motions assessing shaping ability, cleanliness, preparation time and instrument failures after preparation of curved root canals. Sixty root canals of extracted human molar teeth, with curvatures ranging between 20° and 40°, were divided into three groups, according with preparation system. Canals were prepared until apical size 25 using the ProTaper Universal system (G1), WaveOne (G2), or a hybrid technique (G3) associating reciprocating preparation with rotary glide path and cervical pre-enlargement. Teeth were scanned pre and post-operatively using computed tomography. Direction of transportation and centering ability of canals were measured using a computer image analysis program, and the results were analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA. Preparation time was analyzed by one-way ANOVA and the Tukey post hoc test. Instrument failures were recorded. The amounts of debris and smear layer were quantified based on a numerical evaluation scale by scanning electron microscopy and were analyzed statistically using the Kruskal-Wallis test. No difference in transportation and centering ratio was found between the systems. Instrumentation with WaveOne was significantly faster than with other instruments (p < 0.05). During preparation, no instruments fractured and three suffered deformations. For debris removal and remaining smear layer, the results for the three groups were similar. The single-file reciprocating instrument was capable of providing faster root canal preparation with similar transporting, centralization and cleaning ability when compared with continuous and an association of motions in curved canals. Quantitative transportation assessment in curved canals prepared with an off-centered rectangular design system

The purpose of this study was to assess the ability of an off-centered rectangular design system [ProTaper Next (PTN)] to maintain the original profile of the root canal anatomy. To this end, ProTaper Universal (PTU), Reciproc (R) and WaveOne (WO) systems were used as reference techniques for comparison. Forty clear resin blocks with simulated curved root canals were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n = 10) according to the instrumentation system used: PTN, PTU, R and WO. Color stereomicroscopic images of each block were taken before and after instrumentation. All image processing and data analysis were performed with an open source program (Fiji v.1.47n). Evaluation of canal transportation was obtained for two independent regions: straight and curved portions. Univariate analysis of variance and Tukey's Honestly Significant Difference test were performed, and a cut-off for significance was set at α = 5%. Instrumentation systems significantly influenced canal transportation (p = 0.000). Overall, R induced significantly lower canal transportation compared with WO, PTN and PTU (p = 0.000). The curved portion displayed superior canal transportation compared to the straight one (p = 0.000). The significance of the difference among instrumentation systems varied according to the canal level evaluated (p = 0.000). In its straight portion, R and WO exhibited significantly lower transportation than PTN; whereas in the curved portion, R produced the lowest deviation. PTU exhibited the highest canal transportation at both levels. It can be concluded that PTN produced less canal transportation than PTU and WO; however, R exhibited better centering ability than PTN.

Performance of Three Single Instrument Systems in the Preparation of Long Oval Canals

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the Wave One, Easy ProDesign Logic and One Shape systems in the preparation of long oval root canals. Forty-two mandibular incisors were randomized into three groups: Group I, Wave One Primary (WO) (#25.08); Group II, Easy ProDesign Logic (EPL) (#25.06) and Group III, One Shape (OS) (#25.06). Micro-computed tomography scans were obtained pre- and post-preparation of the samples. Instrument fractures or loss of working length did not occur in any of the groups. There was a statistically significant difference in total root canal volume between the WO and EPL (p<0.05) and OS systems (p<0.05) The mean percentages of instrumented canal area in the middle thirds were 76.9% in the WO, 62.3% in the EPL and 71.8% in the OS (p>0.05). The OS system had the strongest correlation between volume increase and instrumented area (R=0.63). The WO, EPL and OS systems presented mean preparation times of 2.13 min, 0.54 min, and 2.21 min (p<0.05), respectively. All three systems enabled the safe preparation of long oval root canals. The WO system most effectively increased root canal volume, but it did not affect the instrumented areas. The OS system had the strongest correlation between volume increase and instrumented area, while the EPL system was the fastest.

Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Assessment of Root Canal Transportation by Neoniti and Reciproc Single-File Systems

Introduction:

The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the canal transportation of two single-file engine-driven systems, Neoniti and Reciproc, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Methods and Materials:

Forty-five non-calcified roots with mature apices and apical curvature of 15-30 degrees were selected from extracted human maxillary molars for this study. Samples were randomly divided into two groups (n=20) and a control group (n=5) and canal preparation with either system was performed according to manufacturers' instructions. Pre- and post-instrumentation CBCT images were captured and the amount of canal transportation within the files was calculated at levels of 3, 4, and 5 mm from the apex. The independent sample t-test was used to analyze the statistical significance between the two groups. The level of significance was defined at 0.05.

Results:

Reciproc created more canal transportation compared to Neoniti in both mesiodistal and buccolingual directions. The difference between the two systems was statistically significant in all evaluated distances from the apex (P<0.001). During this study fracture of one file (25/0.08) in the Neoniti group occurred.

Conclusion:

Neoniti and Reciproc systems have significant difference in terms of creating canal transportation. Reciproc created more canal transportation in buccolingual and mesiodistal dimensions.
