Abstract
BACKGROUND Prior research has established a correlation between childhood maltreatment (CM) and personality traits. The current understanding regarding the potential variability in the relationship between CM and its impact on personality dimensions among those with major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy controls (HCs) remains elusive. AIMS This study analyzes the association between CM and personality traits in the MDD and HC groups. METHODS The study recruited 188 individuals with MDD and 132 HC. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) was used to assess CM, and the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) was used to assess personality traits. We used a 2*2 analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) of the diagnosis and CM on 16PF, and hierarchical regression explored the association between specific types of CM and 16PF in both groups. RESULTS The 2*2 ANCOVA results indicated significant interaction effects between CM and diagnosis on personality traits, with CM's impact notably different between groups. In the MDD group, sexual abuse (SA) independently predicted the subscale Q1 (Openness to Change), related to the Big Five's openness. In the HC group, emotional abuse (EA) predicted the subscales C (emotional stability), O (apprehension), and Q4(tension), linked to Big Five's neuroticism. CONCLUSION The findings highlight the impact of early adversity on personality development, informing psychology and guiding tailored therapy development.

Abstract
Parent emotion socialization has long been studied in relation to children's socioemotional adjustment. Little attention has been paid to how parents' socialization responses are shaped by youth characteristics over time, such as emotional lability. The present study explored the mutual influence between parent emotion socialization and adolescent emotional lability. Participants were 87 adolescents (M = 14.23 years old, SD = .50; 50 girls) and their parents, who completed questionnaires at three time points from 8th grade through 10th grade. Hierarchical linear modeling demonstrated mutual influences between parent emotion socialization and adolescent emotional lability, with relations moderated by adolescent gender. Increases in parents' reward of negative emotion predicted decreased emotional lability in girls. Parents' increased magnification of negative emotions corresponded to decreased emotional lability in boys. Boys' increases in emotional lability predicted decreased parental magnification of negative emotions over time. Increases in parents' magnification of negative emotions predicted increased emotional lability in girls. Girls' increases in emotional lability corresponded to increased parental magnification over time. There were no longitudinal effects of adolescent emotional lability on parents' reward, override, and punishment of negative emotions. Future directions and clinical applications are discussed.

Abstract
Background Endoscopy nurses in China face significant work-family conflicts, where the clash between high work demands and family responsibilities markedly increases the risk of occupational fatigue. This not only affects the nurses' physical and mental health and overall well-being, but also poses a threat to the quality of care and patient safety. This study, grounded in the Conservation of Resources theory, constructs a moderated mediation model to examine the mediating role of positive coping style in the relationship between work-family conflict and occupational fatigue among endoscopy nurses in China, as well as the moderating effect of perceived social support. Methods A convenience sampling method was employed to select 315 endoscopy nurses from 25 tertiary hospitals across 14 provinces in China. A questionnaire survey was conducted using the Fatigue Assessment Instrument, the Work-Family Conflict Scale, the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, and the Perceived Social Support Scale. The moderated mediation model was validated using Stata16.0. Results Our findings reveal that work-family conflict is a significant predictor of occupational fatigue, with a negative impact on positive coping style. Positive coping style, in turn, is negatively associated with occupational fatigue. Furthermore, positive coping style partially mediates the relationship between work-family conflict and occupational fatigue, accounting for 35.52% of the total effect. Additionally, perceived social support mitigates the negative effects of work-family conflict on positive coping style and occupational fatigue. Conclusion There exists a moderated mediation effect between work-family conflict and occupational fatigue among endoscopy nurses in China, wherein positive coping style serve as a mediating variable. Perceived social support mitigates the negative impact of work-family conflict on positive coping style, while enhancing the alleviating effect of positive coping style on occupational fatigue. Therefore, improving endoscopy nurses' levels of perceived social support and coping strategies may help to prevent and alleviate the occurrence of occupational fatigue.

Abstract
Background Adolescent anxiety is closely associated with the quality of parent-child attachment. However, previous studies have predominantly focused on the impact of mother-child attachment. Little is known about the direct and indirect associations of father-child attachment on adolescent anxiety. Purpose This study aims to investigate the association and underlying mechanisms that link father-child attachment and adolescent anxiety. A bidirectional chain mediating model was constructed to test whether neuroticism and peer attachment play bidirectional mediating roles in father-child attachment and adolescent anxiety. Methods The proposed model was examined among 763 adolescents aged 11-16 years (male 53.1%) from four middle schools in Central China. Students completed questionnaires on father-child attachment, anxiety, neuroticism and peer attachment. The correlation and bidirectional chain mediating effect analyses were conducted using SPSS Process. Results (1) Father-child attachment negatively correlated with adolescent anxiety and neuroticism, and positively correlated with peer attachment; (2) Father-child attachment had an indirect association on adolescent anxiety through three pathways: a partial mediating effect on neuroticism, a partial mediating effect on peer attachment, and a bidirectional chain mediating effect involving both neuroticism and peer attachment. Conclusion This study revealed father-child attachment has an indirect association with adolescent anxiety through the bidirectional chain mediation of neuroticism and peer attachment. These empirical findings shed light on the intricate dynamic between father-child attachment and anxiety among Chinese adolescents, highlighting the crucial role of fathers in the prevention and reduction of adolescent anxiety from the perspectives of father-child dynamics, personal traits, and interpersonal relationships.

Abstract
Longitudinal research is lacking with respect to how negative emotional reactivity and somatic symptoms during adolescence set the stage for later health. The aim of this longitudinal study was to examine within-person associations between negative emotional reactivity and somatic symptoms during adolescence and their effects on health and wellbeing in adulthood. Participants (N = 1527; 48.3% female) were assessed annually at the age of 12 to 16 years and at the age of 35 and 45 years. Adolescents with frequent somatic symptoms reported higher reactivity. Individual differences in levels and changes of somatic symptoms and reactivity were independently associated with adult health and wellbeing decades later. The findings underscore the importance of considering how individual differences change during adolescent development.

Abstract
Background Enhancing the academic performance (AP) of college students can contribute to the overall scientific literacy among this population, thereby fostering societal progress. Objective The study investigates the correlation between college students' AP and the socio-educational environment (SEE, including family, roommates, and teachers), study motivation (SM, including self-efficacy and study behaviors). Based on the research findings, recommendations are offered to students, educators, and school administrators. Settings Utilizing a stratified sampling approach, data was collected by selecting a sample of 330 first-year computer science students from a specific local university in Hebei Province, China. Methods Data will be collected through a hierarchical sampling method. Using correlation analysis, difference analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM) as data analysis methods. The data passed reliability and validity analysis (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.88, KMO = 0.88, χ2/df = 1.49RMSEA = 0.04). Results The independent sample T-test results showed that female students had higher academic performance than male students (p < 0.001), and there was no significant difference in academic performance between students from single parent or orphan families and students from normal families (p = 0.14), from non urban areas and from urban areas (p = 0.67). The results of the mediating effect analysis indicate that SM exerts complete mediation in the association between SEE and AP, with a mediating effect value of 0.18. Conclusion The educational disparity between urban and rural areas in China is gradually narrowing. Support policies for students from impoverished families in higher education institutions are showing initial effectiveness. The conducive learning environment and educational atmosphere for students can indirectly influence their psychological state, thus impacting their academic performance during their university years.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mask use is a critical precaution to prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in a crowded or densely populated indoor environment. There is still a lack of large-sample studies on mask use in children during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS A questionnaire was distributed to individuals under 18 years of age from the pediatric outpatient department from November 2021 to May 2022. Participants who were willing to be interviewed and had good communication and judgment skills participated in our study. RESULTS 5053 (a boy-to-girl ratio of 1.13:1 and a median age of 5 years) from 6200 individuals admitted to the pediatric outpatient department were enrolled in the study. The mask-wearing time increased in parallel with age. Children aged 3-5 years wore masks more correctly (χ2 = 41.591, P < 0.05), complained more about the discomfort (χ2 = 193.871, P < 0.05), and their parents/caregivers were significantly better aware of the preventive effect of masks on respiratory disease (χ2 = 19.501, P < 0.05) than parents/caregivers of other age groups. Masks designed for children were more used by those aged 3-5 years in outdoor settings. The commonest adverse events of mask-wearing were respiratory symptoms (61.2%), followed by dermatological symptoms (28.9%) and psychological symptoms (19.7%). Girls wore masks for a longer time and more correctly (χ2 = 10.598, P < 0.05) than boys. Compared with the pre-COVID-19 pandemic, wearing masks could significantly decrease the median frequency of respiratory infections during the COVID-19 pandemic (2[1-4] vs 3[2-4]; z = -2.692, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Wearing proper and well-fitted masks could significantly protect children from respiratory infections in a crowded or densely populated indoor environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, mask-associated adverse events, particularly in psychological symptoms, are needed to draw adequate attention, calling for early identifications and psychological interventions.

Abstract
This study investigates the associations of adolescents callous-unemotional traits with moral constructs and the interplay of various outcomes. The present study builds on the lack of research and focuses on the longitudinal relationships between CU-traits, moral identity, moral emotion attribution and externalizing behavior problems in adolescence. The included variables were collected at test time points T1 and T2. To determine the predictive, and stability links among the variables, a cross-lagged model in SPSS AMOS 26 was conducted. Time stability path estimates were moderate to highly stable over time for all included variables. Significant cross lagged paths of moral identityT1 on moral emotion attributionT2, CU-traitsT1 on moral identityT2, externalizing behavior problemsT1 on moral emotion attributionsT2 and externalizing behavior problemsT1 on CU-traitsT2, could be found.

Abstract
Using research data gathered from multiple sources, the current study explored positive aspects of peer relationship profiles (indexed by peer-nominated acceptance and self-reported friendships) in a person-centered approach among early adolescents from low-income families. Moreover, this study investigated the unique and combined associations of adolescents' attachment to mothers and parent-rated conscientiousness with emerging peer relationship profiles. A total of 295 early adolescents (42.7% girls; Mage = 10.94, SD = 0.80) were involved in this study. Latent profile analysis identified three empirically derived peer relationship profiles: "isolated" (14.6%), "socially competent" (16.3%), and "average" (69.1%). Moderation analyses further showed that adolescents with secure attachment to mothers tend to have group memberships in socially competent and average profiles than the isolated profile. Such an association pattern was more heightened for those with higher conscientiousness (versus lower conscientiousness).

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Identifying longitudinal trajectories of emerging personality (EP) is crucial to highlight developmental patterns that might foster personality pathology in adolescence and early adulthood. Research on the exacerbation of personality pathology in adolescence identifies the significant contribution of internalizing and externalizing problems and suggests the importance of considering aspects such as mentalization, while accounting for gender differences. METHODS In our study, we adopted a mixed-model approach to (1) explore longitudinally EP (Adolescent Personality Structure Questionnaire; APS-Q) over 12 months in a sample of adolescents (N = 178, 62% females, mAGE = 15.04, SD = 1.27), accounting for gender effects. Moreover, (2) we assessed the longitudinal effect of internalizing and externalizing problems (Youth Self-Report; YSR-112) on EP. Finally, (3) we addressed the moderating role of mentalization (Movie Assessment for Social Cognition; MASC) in this developmental pathway. RESULTS Results highlighted a two-way pattern of EP. No changes were found in the level of difficulties in Self-acceptance, Investments and Goals, and Relationships with family dimensions. However, significant changes were found in personality functioning in the dimensions of Sense of Self, Aggression, and Relationships with friends. More, changes in difficulties in Sexuality emerged only in females. Also, gender differences emerged in the level of severity of EP. In addition, Internalizing and Externalizing problems differentially predicted difficulties in personality dimensions. Finally, mentalizing features moderated the relationship between Internalizing problems and Sense of Self and Internalizing problems and Self-acceptance, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Our contribution aligns with recent developmental models of personality pathology, suggesting that different personality dimensions develop at different paces. More, it highlights the predictive power of externalizing and internalizing problems on difficulties in personality dimensions. Finally, it advances the discussion on the contribution of mentalizing abilities to EP.

Abstract
The problem of poor children’s psychological development has been widely concerned by governments all over the world. At present, the research results of poor children’s psychological development show that poor children mainly have cognitive, mental health, and behavioral problems. This paper studies the personality traits and their influencing factors of children from poor families from the perspective of psychological education. By giving the definition of children from poor families and poor families, this paper analyzes the psychological development of poor children, analyzes the personality traits and influencing factors of children from poor families from the perspective of psychological education, obtains the standard scores of 16 personality traits and their dimensional personality factors and personality factors, and uses the clustering method to realize the difference analysis of personality characteristics of various samples. From the perspective of quantitative psychological education, this paper analyzes the correlation between personality traits and influencing factors of children from poor families in order to provide basis and reference for the government and society to implement targeted poverty alleviation and cut off the intergenerational transmission of poverty.

Abstract
It is well-recognized that the individual characteristics of children moderate the effects of developmental conditions on the well-being of a child. The majority of interactions follow a diathesis-stress pattern; there is also evidence for differential susceptibility and vantage sensitivity models. The present study aimed to examine interactions between parenting and child personality in relation to the well-being of a Russian child and to evaluate the models for moderated relationships. Participants were primary caregivers of 370 children aged 2-7 years. Moderation effects were examined using hierarchical multiple regression and bivariate linear models. In order to differentiate between the models of environmental sensitivity, the analysis of regions of significance was used. Consistent with a diathesis-stress framework, the results revealed that among children low in conscientiousness and high in activity, punitive parenting was a risk factor for externalizing problems; among introverted and fearful children, punitive parenting was a risk factor for internalizing problems. Positive parenting/involvement was a protective factor for internalizing behavior, only for children low in openness. The findings also demonstrate the following evidence for the differential susceptibility model: children low in Beta higher-order personality trait (also known as plasticity or personal growth) showed more total problems when faced with low positive parenting, but fewer problems when experiencing high-quality parenting.
