Abstract
The world is presently undergoing a recovery phase following the unexpected challenges posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The loss of lives and the economic setbacks experienced by the global population will require considerable time to address. It is clear that future outbreaks, epidemics, or even pandemic caused by unknown bacterial, fungal, or viral pathogens are inevitable. In this context, public health front-liners will be essential in minimizing the impact of such incidents. This mini-review briefly discusses sociocultural issues, diagnostic capacities, surveillance, and screening strategies for potential future viral pandemic - referred to as Pandemic X. Additionally, it addresses treatment responses, vaccine development efforts, scientific advancements, policy considerations, and prospects for science communication related to forthcoming viral pandemics. While this review does not encompass all scientific approaches available on these topics, it aims to serve as a guideline for informing public health sectors about appropriate measures that should be undertaken.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has become a significant challenge to humanity, especially marginalized groups such as indigenous people. This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice towards COVID-19 prevention among the indigenous population in Lipis district, Pahang, Malaysia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among the indigenous population and the data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a validated questionnaire. The mean score of knowledge, attitude, and practice were 2.35 (SD 1.104), 32.84 (SD 4.756), and 9.64 (SD 3.227), respectively. In the bivariable analysis, the younger the age (p < 0.001), and the higher the education level (p = 0.001) of the participants, the higher the knowledge score on COVID-19. Meanwhile, the female participants (p = 0.043) and the higher the household income, the higher the attitude score of the participants (p = 0.006). Factors that contributed to a higher score of practice towards COVID-19 prevention were younger age (p = 0.013), female (p < 0.001), no religion (p = 0.026), unemployed (p < 0.001), and higher household income (p = 0.012). There was a positive correlation between knowledge score and practice score (p = 0.001) and a positive correlation between attitude score and practice score (p < 0.001), respectively. Multivariable regression analysis showed that the younger age (p < 0.001) was significantly associated with a higher knowledge score. Furthermore, female (p = 0.018), unemployed (p = 0.001), higher knowledge score (p < 0.001), and higher attitude score (p < 0.001) were significantly associated with a higher score of practice towards COVID-19 prevention among the participants, respectively. Indigenous people in Malaysia have a good knowledge, attitude, and practice towards COVID-19. However, strategic planning and programmes related to preventive practices against infectious disease outbreaks need to be conducted continuously to reduce the outbreaks in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused a variety of psychological complications. One way to control the spread of this pandemic is compliance with health protocols and standards. Considering the limited research into the psychological effects of COVID-19 and the preventive behaviors among older adults, this study aimed to determine these variables and their relationship with associated factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on 153 older adults who were referred to the clinic of Pirouz Hospital in the east of Guilan, in the north of Iran, in 2022. The research instruments included the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) and the preventive behavior questionnaires. Descriptive (mean, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage) and inferential (Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests) statistics were used to analyze the data using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 20 with a significant level of 0.05. RESULTS The findings showed that the overall mean score for preventive behaviors was 107 ± 10.38. The highest mean score of preventive behaviors was related to personal behavior (43.00 ± 5.58) and instructions to enter the house (30.15 ± 4.84), respectively. The highest mean scores of psychological effects were related to the intrusion dimension (11 ± 5.33) and avoidance dimension (7 ± 4.74), respectively. There was a significant relationship between drug use (F = 27.136, P = 0.028) and the psychological effects of COVID-19. CONCLUSION Based on the results, the general condition of the preventive behaviors of older adults was average, and the majority of them were at a normal level of psychological effects. However, administrators and health policymakers should consider planning to develop interventions to encourage and improve preventive behaviors against COVID-19, especially among older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
Background: Changes in oral and hand hygiene behaviors have been reported during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 which may be associated with the incidence of the norovirus infection, a common cause of gastroenteritis. Objective: To estimate the trends of detection rates of norovirus gastroenteritis and associated factors before COVID-19 in 2015-2019 and during the COVID-19 in 2020 in Guangxi, China. Methods: A secondary analysis of Guangxi surveillance data of gastroenteritis patients was conducted. The detection rate in 2020 was predicted using an autoregressive integrated moving average modeland associated factors were analyzed using multiple logistic regression adjusted for interaction effects. Results: Of 7,903 gastroenteritis patients, the overall detection rate of norovirus gastroenteritis was 12.8%, (14.3% before and 6.1% during COVID-19). Detection rates gradually decreased from 2015 to 2020, of which the slope of predicted line was slightly flatter than the actual line. The odds ratios of detection were double to triple increase during COVID-19 in the younger age group and having food intake outside their homes. Tourist city, season, and types of food were independent associated factors. Conclusion: The detection rates were higher during the COVID-19 year among the population aged 45 years or less and those who consumed food outside their home.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, directly and indirectly, affected the emergency medical care system and resulted in worse out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) outcomes and epidemiological features compared with those before the pandemic. This review compares the regional and temporal features of OHCA prognosis and epidemiological characteristics. Various databases were searched to compare the OHCA outcomes and epidemiological characteristics during the COVID-19 pandemic with before the pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, survival and favorable neurological outcome rates were significantly lower than before. Survival to hospitalization, return of spontaneous circulation, endotracheal intubation, and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) decreased significantly, whereas the use of a supraglottic airway device, the incidence of cardiac arrest at home, and response time of emergency medical service (EMS) increased significantly. Bystander CPR, unwitnessed cardiac arrest, EMS transfer time, use of mechanical CPR, and in-hospital target temperature management did not differ significantly. A subgroup analysis of the studies that included only the first wave with those that included the subsequent waves revealed the overall outcomes in which the epidemiological features of OHCA exhibited similar patterns. No significant regional differences between the OHCA survival rates in Asia before and during the pandemic were observed, although other variables varied by region. The COVID-19 pandemic altered the epidemiologic characteristics, survival rates, and neurological prognosis of OHCA patients. Review registration: PROSPERO (CRD42022339435).

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess COVID-19-related awareness and knowledge among truck drivers across India and report prevention practices followed, and challenges faced, by them during the COVID-19 lockdown. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING Delhi, Kanpur, Kolkata and Bangalore from July to September 2020. PARTICIPANTS Data were collected in Hindi using a structured questionnaire via telephonic interviews. Minimum 200 drivers were included from each location. OUTCOME MEASURES Sociodemographic profile, awareness regarding COVID-19, knowledge regarding infection sources, disease spread and vulnerable populations, prevention practices followed and challenges faced. Information sources were also assessed. RESULTS Fisher's exact test and Analysis of variance (ANOVA) test were used to check for significant differences across proportions. P value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Overall, 1246 drivers were included, with 72% response rate. Of 1246 drivers, 65% were 30-50 years of age. A majority correctly answered knowledge questions regarding communicability (95%) and fatality (66%). Fifty per cent drivers were aware of treatability of the disease, while only 43% and 24% correctly reported all signs and symptoms and routes of transmission, respectively. No driver was aware of all high-risk populations. Overall Knowledge Score is significantly associated with region. Mobile phones were the primary source of information across all regions. Over two-third drivers follow all prevention practices regularly, which differed significantly across regions. Following standard prevention practices was positively correlated with higher knowledge scores and was significantly correlated with mask use. Worry about the disease was common. Less than 40% drivers received full payment for work during this period, while 25% drivers were unable to return home due to the pandemic. Seven per cent and 26% drivers had either limited or no access to food and health services, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Awareness activities and employer provisioned social security/health insurance might safeguard this vulnerable population till the pandemic fully abates as well as in similar situations in the future.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused severe health impacts to worldwide. The aim of our study was to provide suggestions for government to manage serious infectious disease outbreaks in remote regions with relatively poor medical resources. The basic reproduction number (R0), incubation period, time from symptom onset to confirmed and duration of hospitalization were analyzed. We compared the composition of imported and local secondary cases, and cases with mild/common and severe/critical illness according to age, sex, and clinical symptoms. From January 23 to February 19, 2020 (less than 1 month), 75 local COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Inner Mongolia. Among them, the median age was 45.0 years and 33 (44.0%) were imported. More than 80.0% cases were mild/common. The case fatality rate was 1.3% and the R0 was estimated to be 2.3. The median incubation period was 8.5 days. There was a significant difference in the incubation period between imported and local secondary cases (P<0.001). The early and mandatory control strategies implemented by government were associated with a rapid reduction in COVID-19 incidence in Inner Mongolia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Nurses’ duties and responsibilities related to the risk of transmitting COVID-19. Studies that explore nurses’ feelings and perspectives in providing health services at COVID-19 referral hospitals, especially in developing countries like Indonesia, are limited.
AIM: This study aims to explore nurses’ feelings, perceptions, and expectations of the COVID-19 pandemic.
METHODS: This qualitative study applied the qualitative descriptive design that involved 17 nurses from different hospitals in Indonesia. The semi-structured interview gathered their views of COVID-19, and the comparative analysis for interviews technique was chosen to analyze the data.
RESULTS: Three themes emerged from the data analysis. The themes were nurses’ express psychological responses in facing the COVID-19 pandemic such as fear, surrender, panic, and calmness. Other two themes included the COVID 19 pandemic enhances nurses’ health awareness and behavior, and the government protect nurses from the COVID-19 transmission and social stigma.
CONCLUSION: The feelings reported dominantly by the nurse, in addition to information about health awareness, behavior, the government’s actions, and their expectations. Mental health assistance would be useful to prevent depression in nurses, and the government’s comprehensive approaches in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic would increase the protection and productivity of health workers, including nurses.

Abstract
COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted every sphere of life. Health care workers, including eye care professionals, are at a higher risk of contracting infection directly or indirectly. To mitigate the risk of cross-infection among these front-line workers, it is vital to follow appropriate safety protocols. On the other hand, childhood eye conditions lead to permanent vision loss unless these are identified and treated early. School eye health programs are the best option to reach a large childhood population for early detection and treatment of vision-threatening eye conditions. While several clinical safety guidelines have been developed for ophthalmic practice, no such guidelines are available for carrying out school eye health programs. This article aims to set out COVID-19 safety guidelines for conducting school eye health programs in India.

Abstract
AIMS The study aimed to evaluate perceptions and preventive practices regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and oral health care perceptions during the lockdown in the Saudi Arabian population. MATERIALS AND METHOD This cross-sectional study was performed by collecting the data from individuals belonging to various parts of the Saudi Arabian Population through an online self-reported questionnaire. The questionnaire had two main parts: first comprised of demographic data include the region of residence, gender, nationality, age, the number of family members, monthly income of the family, and the second was further divided into three sections of perception (P), practice (PRA) and oral health care practice (D) questions. All these (P, PRA, and D) were analyzed by comparing all of the demographic characteristics. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS IBM (version 21.0), and statistical significance was set at a 5% level. RESULTS Overall, 2013 participants (54% males and 46% females) contributed to the Saudi Arabia study. Only 5% of non-Saudis live in Saudi Arabia were participated in the study, while the majority of participants were of 21-40 years age group (45%), 59% of having more than five family members, and 60% of them had ≤10 K Suadi riyal monthly income respectively. The majority of the participants were from Riyadh (33.7%) and Asir (25.1%) in the study. Overall, 89.5% of the participants were aware of the COVID-19 global pandemic. The majority of the participants (55%) from Saudi Arabia utilized the Ministry of Health website, a source of information regarding COVID-19. However, 56.5% of the participants had COVID-19 related perception, and 74.3% followed an appropriate preventive practice. Approximately 60% had good oral health practice. The study participants showed mixed opinions on perceptions regarding COVID-19, preventive practice, and oral health practices. CONCLUSION The present study suggested that the Saudi Arabian population has good attention to COVID-19, but preventive practice and oral health perception need better awareness to control this novel virus spread. The Ministry of Health website utilized as a significant source of information among the Saudi Arabian population regarding COVID-19.

Abstract
The multidisciplinary nature of the work required for research in the COVID-19 pandemic has created new challenges for health professionals in the battle against the virus. They need to be equipped with novel tools, applications, and resources-that have emerged during the pandemic-to gain access to breakthrough findings; know the latest developments; and to address their specific needs for rapid data acquisition, analysis, evaluation, and reporting. Because of the complex nature of the virus, healthcare systems worldwide are severely impacted as the treatment and the vaccine for COVID-19 disease are not yet discovered. This leads to frequent changes in regulations and policies by governments and international organizations. Our analysis suggests that given the abundance of information sources, finding the most suitable application for analysis, evaluation, or reporting, is one of such challenges. However, health professionals and policy-makers need access to the most relevant, reliable, trusted, and latest information and applications that can be used in their day-to-day tasks of COVID-19 research and analysis. In this article, we present our analysis of various novel and important web-based applications that have been specifically developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and that can be used by the health professionals community to help in advancing their analysis and research. These applications comprise search portals and their associated information repositories for literature and clinical trials, data sources, tracking dashboards, and forecasting models. We present a list of the minimally essential online, web-based applications to serve a multitude of purposes, from hundreds of those developed since the beginning of the pandemic. A critical analysis is provided for the selected applications based on 17 features that can be useful for researchers and analysts for their evaluations. These features make up our evaluation framework and have not been used previously for analysis and evaluation. Therefore, knowledge of these applications will not only increase productivity but will also allow us to explore new dimensions for using existing applications with more control, better management, and greater outcome of their research. In addition, the features used in our framework can be applied for future evaluations of similar applications and health professionals can adapt them for evaluation of other applications not covered in this analysis.
