Abstract
PURPOSE To provide updated fertility preservation (FP) recommendations for people with cancer. METHODS A multidisciplinary Expert Panel convened and updated the systematic review. RESULTS One hundred sixty-six studies comprise the evidence base. RECOMMENDATIONS People with cancer should be evaluated for and counseled about reproductive risks at diagnosis and during survivorship. Patients interested in or uncertain about FP should be referred to reproductive specialists. FP approaches should be discussed before cancer-directed therapy. Sperm cryopreservation should be offered to males before cancer-directed treatment, with testicular sperm extraction if unable to provide semen samples. Testicular tissue cryopreservation in prepubertal males is experimental and should be offered only in a clinical trial. Males should be advised of potentially higher genetic damage risks in sperm collected soon after cancer-directed therapy initiation and completion. For females, established FP methods should be offered, including embryo, oocyte, and ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC), ovarian transposition, and conservative gynecologic surgery. In vitro maturation of oocytes may be offered as an emerging method. Post-treatment FP may be offered to people who did not undergo pretreatment FP or cryopreserve enough oocytes or embryos. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) should not be used in place of established FP methods but may be offered as an adjunct to females with breast cancer. For patients with oncologic emergencies requiring urgent oncologic therapy, GnRHa may be offered for menstrual suppression. Established FP methods in children who have begun puberty should be offered with patient assent and parent/guardian consent. The only established method for prepubertal females is OTC. Oncology teams should ensure prompt access to a multidisciplinary FP team. Abstract
BACKGROUND Many studies have indicated an association between maternal occupational exposure to hazardous agents, such as anticancer drugs and ionizing radiation, and an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, including stillbirths or miscarriages and physical abnormalities in offspring. However, the effects of recent advancements in protective measures to reduce these risks have not been clarified. Aim To investigate the current impact of parental occupational exposure to anticancer drugs and ionizing radiation on stillbirths or miscarriages as well as physical abnormalities under the circumstances of the developed safety protocols. METHODS This cohort study utilized The Japan Environment and Children's Study dataset, which included 96,606 fetuses born between January 2011 and March 2014. This study focused on the association between occupational exposure to these agents during pregnancy and the incidence of stillbirths or miscarriages and physical abnormalities in offspring, employing Poisson regression models for adjusted relative risk. RESULTS From the study population, 471 cases of stillbirths or miscarriages and 4493 infants with physical abnormalities were identified. Fisher's exact tests indicated no significant differences in fetal loss or physical abnormalities between the exposure groups. A multivariable analysis also found no significant association between maternal exposure to anticancer drugs and ionizing radiation and these adverse outcomes. CONCLUSION Under improved safety measures, maternal occupational exposure to anticancer drugs and ionizing radiation does not significantly affect the occurrence of stillbirths or miscarriages and physical abnormalities in offspring. These findings highlight the critical role of current safety practices and indicate lower reproductive risks with proper precautions.

Abstract
Objectives: Melatonin has been documented as an antioxidant agent. Numerous investigations have documented melatonin's radioprotective impact; however, investigation of its role post-irradiation requires further studies. Thus, the present study investigated melatonin's mitigating effect against radiation-induced alteration in the ovaries and reproductive hormones in female albino rats. Methods: Melatonin (10 mg/kg body weight, i. p.) was administered to the animals for 7, 11, and 15 days after whole-body exposure to 4 Gy γ-radiation. Results: The results demonstrated that melatonin has significantly attenuated the radiation-induced oxidative stress in the ovary, manifested by a decrease in protein carbonyl and malondialdehyde in conjunction with an increase in total antioxidant capacity. In addition, melatonin has alleviated the radiation-induced increase of the pro-inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrotic factor alpha, interleukin-6, interleukin-1 beta) and caspase-3 levels in the serum. These results were accompanied by a noticeable improvement in serum E2-estradiol, testosterone, progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone compared to their respective levels in the irradiated group. Conclusion: It could be concluded that melatonin is an effective agent for minimizing the deleterious impacts of radiation on the ovaries and reproductive hormones through synergistic interdependence between anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic activities.

Abstract
Environmental radiation is one of the key causes of the increased prevalence of infertility among couples. This type of radiation can be ionizing or non-ionizing. While ionizing radiation is known to cause sterility in both males and females, the role of low-energy non-ionizing radiation is still debated. This article will discuss the various types of environmental radiation and its consequences on male and female fertility. Recent studies suggest that continuous exposure to low-energy, non-ionizing radiation might also result in infertility. The sources of this type of radiation are generally man-made, including mobile phones, television broadcasts, radio, radars, etc. The ever-increasing use of these devices in our daily lives has introduced a new type of pollution called electropollution. The mechanisms of action by which electropollution causes infertility are still being investigated. In males, prolonged exposure to this type of radiation might negatively impact sperm parameters, such as count, motility, morphology, and viability. The evidence for female infertility caused by non-ionizing radiation is still evolving.

Abstract
While international guidelines on oncofertility practice have been published in developed countries, there is limited information available on oncofertility practice in developing countries, which often face limitations in their cancer health support networks. As survival rates improve in the field of cancer and other diseases, there is a growing need for stronger oncofertility services in developing countries. Given that 50% of cancer patients are under the age of 65, many of these patients are of reproductive age and preserving their fertility health prior to starting treatment is valuable. However, due to resource limitations and the heavy burden of treatment costs imposed on these patients and their families, fertility preservation (FP) may not be a top priority for them. As a result, many healthcare providers and their patients focus on eliminating cancer and its related treatments while overlooking the importance of fertility as a factor that can significantly impact their future quality of life. In this review, we have tried to increase the knowledge of healthcare providers involved in the oncofertility network by reviewing current cancer treatments, FP options in female cancer patients, and their challenges in developing countries.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and duration of multiple non-ablative intravaginal CO2 laser (V-lase®) cycles in breast cancer patients, gynecological and other pelvic cancers previously subjected to multiple oncological treatments. This prospective study enrolled women under the age of 65 years who reported vaginal symptoms. Data on the Vaginal Health Index (VHI), vaginal length (VL), vaginal pain measured using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) were collected at baseline and before each laser application, and at subsequent follow-up visits. A total of 170 laser applications were performed on 113 women with various types of cancer. Most patients (57.5%) had received radiotherapy-based treatments before receiving laser treatment. Vaginal health parameters and sexual function improved significantly with each laser application. However, a temporary decline in these improvements occurred during the intervals between cycles. Such worsening was reversed with the subsequent cycle in all groups of patients, irrespective of the type of oncological treatments they had undergone. Multiple course vaginal laser therapy showed promising results as a potential treatment for vaginal atrophy in heavily treated gynecological and breast cancer patients, necessitating further research to determine the optimal time interval between cycles to ensure sustained positive effects.

Abstract
Female fertility depends on the ovarian reserve of follicles, which is determined at birth. Primordial follicle development and oocyte maturation are regulated by multiple factors and pathways and classified into gonadotropin-independent and gonadotropin-dependent phases, according to the response to gonadotropins. Folliculogenesis has always been considered to be gonadotropin-dependent only from the antral stage, but evidence from the literature highlights the role of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) during early folliculogenesis with a potential role in the progression of the pool of primordial follicles. Hormonal and molecular pathway alterations during the very earliest stages of folliculogenesis may be the root cause of anovulation in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and in PCOS-like phenotypes related to antiepileptic treatment. Excessive induction of primordial follicle activation can also lead to premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), a condition characterized by menopause in women before 40 years of age. Future treatments aiming to suppress initial recruitment or prevent the growth of resting follicles could help in prolonging female fertility, especially in women with PCOS or POI. This review will briefly introduce the impact of gonadotropins on early folliculogenesis. We will discuss the influence of LH on ovarian reserve and its potential role in PCOS and POI infertility.

Abstract
Ionizing radiation has been pivotal in cancer therapy since its discovery. Despite its therapeutic benefits, IR causes significant acute and chronic complications due to DNA damage and the generation of reactive oxygen species, which harm nucleic acids, lipids, and proteins. While cancer cells are more vulnerable to ionizing radiation due to their inefficiency in repairing damage, healthy cells in the irradiated area also suffer. Various types of cell death occur, including apoptosis, necrosis, pyroptosis, autophagy-dependent cell death, immunogenic cell death, and ferroptosis. Ferroptosis, driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxide accumulation, has been recognized as crucial in radiation therapy's therapeutic effects and complications, with extensive research across various tissues. This review aims to summarize the pathways involved in radiation-related ferroptosis, findings in different organs, and drugs targeting ferroptosis to mitigate its harmful effects.

Abstract
AIM This study focused on the anti-oxidant and anti-apoptotic effects of CoQ10 in ovaries exposed to pelvic radiation. METHODS Thirty-two female rats were randomly assigned into four groups. Group I (control group), Group II: Only 2 Gy pelvic x-ray irradiation (IR) was administered as a single fractioned dose. Group III: 30 mg/kg CoQ10 was administered by oral gavage +2 Gy pelvic IR. Group IV: 150 mg/kg CoQ10 was administered by oral gavage +2 Gy pelvic IR. CoQ10 treatment was started 7 days before pelvic IR and completed 7 days later. The rats in Group III and IV were treated with CoQ10 for a total of 14 days. RESULTS Histopathological analysis showed severe damage to the ovarian tissue in the radiation group, while both doses of CoQ10 showed normal histological structure. Likewise, while there was a high level of staining in the IR group for necrosis and apoptosis, the CoQ10 treated ones were like the control group. Tissue Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were like the control group in the low-dose CoQ10 group, while the MDA levels of the high dose CoQ10 group were similar to the radiation group. CONCLUSION Usage of low-dose CoQ10 has a radioprotective effect on radiation-induced ovarian damage. Although the use of high doses is morphologically radioprotective, no antioxidative effect was observed in the biochemical evaluation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Ovarian tissue cryopreservation is vital for fertility preservation, yet its effect on ovarian tissue follicle survival and transcriptomic signature requires further investigation. This study delves into the effects of vitrification on tissue morphology, function, and transcriptomic changes, helping to find possibilities for vitrification protocol improvements. METHODS Ovarian cortex from 19 bovine animals were used to conduct pre- and post-vitrification culture followed by histological assessment, immunohistochemistry, and TUNEL assay. Follicles' functionality was assessed for viability and growth within the tissue and in isolated cultures. RNA-sequencing of ovarian tissue was used to explore the transcriptomic alterations caused by vitrification. RESULTS Follicle density, cell proliferation, and DNA damage in ovarian stroma were unaffected by vitrification. However, vitrified cultured tissue exhibited reduced follicle density of primordial/primary and antral follicles, while freshly cultured tissue manifested reduction of antral follicles. Increased stromal cell proliferation and DNA damage occurred in both groups post-culture. Isolated follicles from vitrified tissue exhibited similar viability to fresh follicles until day 4, after which the survival dropped. RNA-sequencing revealed minor effects of vitrification on transcriptomic signatures, while culture induced significant gene expression changes in both groups. The altered expression of WNT and hormonal regulation pathway genes post-vitrification suggests the molecular targets for vitrification protocol refinement. CONCLUSION Vitrification minimally affects tissue morphology, follicle density, and transcriptomic signature post-thawing. However, culture revealed notable changes in vitrified tissue samples, including reduced follicle density, decreased isolated follicle survival, and alteration in WNT signalling and ovarian hormonal regulation pathways, highlighted them as possible limitations of the current vitrification protocol.

Abstract
PURPOSE In 2020, almost 9 million women were diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Despite advancements in cancer treatment strategies, patients still suffer from acute and long-term side effects. This systematic review aims to evaluate the most frequently reported adverse effects in the genitourinary system and compare them across cancer types, treatment modalities, and evaluation methods. METHODS Pubmed Central, SCOPUS, and Cochrane Library were searched following the PRISMA guidelines to identify all prospective and retrospective observational cohort studies and randomized controlled trials assessing vaginal side effects of adult female cancer patients. The study quality was evaluated using The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale or the Risk of Bias 2 tool, as appropriate. RESULTS The most prevalent population was breast cancer patients, followed by gynaecological cancer patients. Overall, the focus was on vaginal dryness, while vaginal stenosis was the primary outcome in gynaecological cancer patients. Significant discrepancies were found in the frequency and severity of the reported adverse events. Most studies in this review evaluated side effects using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). CONCLUSIONS Genitourinary syndrome of menopause following cancer treatment is most frequently documented in breast and gynaecological cancer patients, often focussing on vaginal dryness and vaginal stenosis based on PROMs. This review provides a complete overview of the literature, but more high-quality clinical trials are necessary to draw firm conclusions on acute and chronic vaginal toxicity following cancer treatment. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS This review could help improve the current preventive and curative management options for genitourinary complications, thereby increasing the patient's QoL and sexual functioning.

Abstract
Cancer is a global public health issue and remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States (Siegel et al. CA Cancer J Clin. 72:7-33, 2022). It is estimated in the US in 2022, about 935,000 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in women, and the probability of developing invasive cancer is 5.8% for females younger than 50 years old (Siegel et al. CA Cancer J Clin. 72:7-33, 2022). However, advances in screening programs, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic options have greatly increased the five-year survival rate in reproductive-age women with a variety of cancers. Given the clinical consequences of gonadotoxic cancer therapies, young, female cancer survivors may face compromised fertility, premature ovarian insufficiency, early-onset menopause, and endocrine dysregulation (Bedoschi et al. Future Oncol. 12:2333-44, 2016). Gonadotoxic side effects may include decreased oocyte quality within surviving follicles, loss of ovarian follicles, and impaired ovarian function. In reproductive-age women, oocyte quality is an important element for successful clinical pregnancies and healthy offspring as poor-quality oocytes may be a cause of infertility (McClam et al. Biol Reprod. 106:328-37, 2022; Marteil et al. Reprod Biol. 9:203-24, 2009; Krisher. J Anim Sci. 82: E14-E23, 2004). Thus, it is critical to determine the quantity and quality of surviving follicles in the ovary after cancer treatment and to assess oocyte quality within those surviving follicles as these are markers for determining the capacity for ovarian function restoration and future fertility, especially for young cancer survivors (Xu et al. Nat Med. 17:1562-3, 2011). The long-term effects of cancer therapeutics on oocyte quality are influenced by factors including, but not limited to, individual patient characteristics (e.g. age, health history, comorbidities, etc.), disease type, or treatment regimen (Marci et al. Reprod Biol Endocrinol. 16:1-112, 2018). These effects may translate clinically into an impaired production of viable oocytes and compromised fertility (Garutti et al. ESMO Open. 6:100276, 2021).

Abstract
Stem cell transplant proved its efficacy in increasing the survival rate among young patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies. A transplant conditioning regimen is particularly destructive on the genital system, often determining premature ovarian failure, accompanied by vulvovaginal atrophy and sexual dysfunctions. The aims of the present study were, first, to evaluate sexual dysfunctions among transplanted women, using clinical examination and the female sexual function index (FSFI), and second, to determine their impact on a couple's relationship. A prospective observational comparative study was performed and included 38 patients who underwent allogenic stem cell transplant (SCT) procedures for different hematological malignancies and 38 healthy patients (control group). This study included baseline evaluation, one-year, and three-year follow-up visits. In addition to anamnesis and medically obtained information, FSFI was evaluated to determine the impact of gynecological damage in a subjective manner. In the study group, vulvovaginal atrophy was diagnosed in 76.32%, with subsequent sexual dysfunctions in 92.10% of patients, based on FSFI scoring. Even though the results improved throughout the study, at the last visit, mild vulvovaginal atrophy was diagnosed in 81.58% of patients, and the FSFI score was abnormal for 21.05%. When compared to the control group, both sexual dysfunctions and FSFI results were considerably impaired, with statistical significance. There is a confirmed negative impact of sexual dysfunctions and self-declared FSFI on couple/marital status and couple relationships, with statistical significance, at the last visit. In conclusion, anatomical, functional, and psychological difficulties are a reality of long-term survivors after a stem cell transplant. They should be addressed and assessed equally to other medical conditions, as they may determine serious consequences and impact the sexual quality of life and the couple's relationship.

Abstract
Objective The assessment of the relative impacts of uterine artery embolization (UAE) treatment for female patients is a critical field that informs clinical decisions, yet there is a noticeable scarcity of high-quality, long-term comparative studies. This meta-analysis aimed to focus on the pregnancy rate and outcomes in female patients following UAE and to conduct subgroup analyses based on different patient populations or various control treatments. Methods A systematic literature search was conducted on 2 August 2023 through the Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library of Clinical Trials for all potential studies. Relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were applied to compare pregnancy rates and outcomes between the UAE group and the control group. Heterogeneity was evaluated statistically by using the chi-square-based Cochran's Q test and Higgins I2 statistics, and 95% prediction interval (PI). Software R 4.3.1 and Stata 12.0 were used for meta-analysis. The trial sequential analysis (TSA) was performed with TSA v0.9.5.10 Beta software. Results A total of 15 eligible studies (11 cohort studies, 3 randomized controlled trials, and 1 non-randomized clinical trial) were included in this meta-analysis. The overall results revealed that UAE significantly decreased postoperative pregnancy rate [RR (95% CI): 0.721 (0.531-0.979), 95% PI: 0.248-2.097] and was associated with an increased risk of postoperative PPH [RR (95% CI): 3.182 (1.319-7.675), 95% PI: 0.474-22.089]. Analysis grouped by population indicated that UAE decreased the risk of preterm delivery [RR (95% CI): 0.326 (0.128-0.831), p = 0.019] and cesarean section [RR (95% CI): 0.693 (0.481-0.999), p = 0.050] and increased the risk of placenta previa [RR (95% CI): 8.739 (1.580-48.341), p = 0.013] in patients with UFs, CSP, and PPH, respectively. When compared with myomectomy, HIFU, and non-use of UAE, UAE treatment was associated with the reduced risks of preterm delivery [RR (95% CI): 0.296 (0.106-0.826)] and cesarean section [(95% CI): 0.693 (0.481-0.999), p = 0.050] and increased placenta previa risk [RR (95% CI): 10.682 (6.859-16.636)], respectively. Conclusion UAE treatment was associated with a lower postoperative pregnancy rate and increased risk of PPH. Abstract
Recent developments of assisted reproduction techniques turned possible to avoid the infertility consequences of oncologic treatments, but fertility preservation (FP) has been somewhat neglected in women with hematologic diseases undergoing gonadotoxic treatments. For these specific cases, the current options for FP include the cryopreservation of embryos, mature oocytes and ovarian tissue, and oocyte in-vitro maturation. We intend to make patients and clinicians aware of this important and relevant issue, and provide hematologists, assisted reproduction physicians and patients, with updated tools to guide decisions for FP. The physicians of the units responsible for female FP should always be available to decide on the best-individualized FP option in strict collaboration with hematologists. With a wide range of options for FP tailored to each case, a greater level of training and information is needed among clinicians, so that patients proposed to gonadotoxic treatments can be previously advised for FP techniques in hematological conditions. ABBREVIATED ABSTRACT: Recent developments of assisted reproduction techniques turned possible to preserve the fertility of women with hematologic diseases undergoing gonadotoxic treatments. Current options for fertility preservation in women with hematologic diseases are presented. It is imperative to offer fertility preservation to all women before starting any gonadotoxic treatment and in some cases after treatment. Fertility preservation methods enable to later achieve the desired pregnancy.

Abstract
The survival rates for cancer patients have been steadily improving in recent years due to the improved efficacy of contemporary oncological care, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Modern technology makes it feasible to maintain fertility in cancer patients, and this practice needs to be included in oncological care. In many instances, it is impossible to avoid the harm that cancer treatments can cause to a patient's fertility; hence, research in fertility preservation techniques is being conducted to allow cancer patients to have future children biologically related to them. The development of fertility preservation approaches has grown in importance in the field of research over the past few years to increase patient's quality of life and survival. Oncologists must be aware of circumstances in which cancer patients' fertility will be impacted by their therapy and the avenues open for procedures like cryopreservation of the gametes or embryos. When cancer therapy is scheduled, all patients should receive prompt and thorough information on the fertility-related side effects of treatment and the prospects for fertility preservation. The article analyzes the literature, enlisting the factors that contribute to cancer and their effects on fertility, followed by a list of available and newly developed strategies for maintaining fertility in patients. The efficiency of the various fertility preservation techniques following cancer therapy is also discussed.

Abstract
An estimated 500,000 cancer survivors of reproductive age in the United States will live to experience the long-term consequences of cancer treatment. Therefore, a focused aspect of cancer care has appropriately shifted to include quality of life in survivorship. Infertility is a late effect of therapy that affects 12% of female survivors of childhood cancer receiving any cancer treatment in large cohort studies and results in a 40% decreased likelihood of pregnancy in young adults of ages 18-39 years. Nonfertility gynecologic late effects such as hypoestrogenism, radiation-induced uterine and vaginal injury, genital graft-versus-host disease after hematopoietic stem cell transplant, and sexual dysfunction also significantly affect quality of life in survivorship but are underdiagnosed and require consideration. Several articles in the special edition "Reproductive Health in Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivorship" address infertility, genital graft-versus-host disease, and psychosexual functioning in survivorship. This review article focuses on other adverse gynecologic outcomes of cancer therapies including hypogonadism and hormone replacement therapy, radiation-induced uterovaginal injury, vaccination and contraception, breast and cervical cancer screening, and pregnancy considerations in survivorship.

Abstract
Ovarian tissue autotransplantation is an innovative fertility preservation technique that has provoked ongoing investigations. The purpose of the present study was to assess the safety and reproductive performance of ovarian tissue autotransplantation. This review is conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. Seven studies met the inclusion criteria. A total of 3427 patients underwent ovarian tissue cryopreservation and 205 received an autotransplantation. Tissue retrieval was mainly performed by laparoscopy and only one major complication occurred. Transplantations were predominantly performed by open procedures and data on safety were insufficient. A total of 295 autotransplantations were analyzed, resulting in 104 pregnancies. Sixty-five pregnancies led to live births, while nine were ongoing at that time. A pregnancy rate (PR) of 50.7% and a live-birth rate (LBR) of 32.7% were observed. Natural conception accounted for 46.3% of live births. No birth deficits were recorded. Ovarian tissue autotransplantation seems to be a safe procedure with acceptable pregnancy rates.

Abstract
Radiotherapy causes destruction of tumor cells, but also threatens the integrity and survival of surrounding normal cells. Then, woman submitted to irradiation for cancer treatment may present permanent ovary damage, resulting in impaired fertility. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation (IR), used for ovarian cancer treatment in humans, on bovine cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) as experimental model. Bovine ovaries were exposed to 0.9 Gy, 1.8 Gy, 3.6 Gy or 18.6 Gy IR, and then COCs were collected and used to evaluate: (a) oocyte nuclear maturation; (b) presence of phosphorylated H2A.X (γH2AX), as an indicator of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs); and (c) expression of genes involved in DNA repair (TP53BP1, RAD52, ATM, XRCC6 and XRCC5) and apoptosis (BAX). The radiation doses tested in this study had no detrimental effects on nuclear maturation and did not increase γH2AX in the oocytes. However, IR treatment altered the mRNA abundance of RAD52 (RAD52 homolog, DNA repair protein) and BAX (BCL2-associated X protein). We conclude that although IR doses had no apparent effect on oocyte nuclear maturation and DNA damage, molecular pathways involved in DNA repair and apoptosis were affected by IR exposure in cumulus cells.

Abstract
With increasing technological developments, exposure to non-ionizing radiations has become unavoidable as people cannot escape from electromagnetic field sources, such as Wi-Fi, electric wires, microwave oven, radio, telecommunication, bluetooth devices, etc. These radiations can be associated with increased health problems of the users. This review aims to determine the effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiations on female fertility. To date, several in vitro and in vivo studies unveiled that exposure to non-ionizing radiations brings about harmful effects on oocytes, ovarian follicles, endometrial tissue, estrous cycle, reproductive endocrine hormones, developing embryo, and fetal development in animal models. Non-ionizing radiation also upsurges the free radical load in the uterus and ovary, which leads to inhibition of cell growth and DNA disruptions. In conclusion, non-ionizing electromagnetic radiations can cause alterations in both germ cells as well as in their nourishing environment and also affect other female reproductive parameters that might lead to infertility.

Abstract
There are natural concerns regarding the risks posed to the foetus by ionizing radiation exposure during pregnancy. Therefore, many female physicians select to avoid working in an environment associated with ionizing radiation exposure like the catheterization laboratory and even exclude training as electrophysiology, interventional cardiologists, or radiologists. For those already working in this field, pregnancy involves usually a 1-year interruption (pregnancy and maternity leave) to their careers, leading at times to delays in the decision to become pregnant. This review describes the low added risk of malformation/cancer in the offspring, highlight gaps in our understanding, discuss several common wrong beliefs, and recommend how to further decrease radiation dose, especially during pregnancy.

Abstract
Ferroptosis is a form of cell death caused by the accumulation of lipid peroxidation products due to abnormal iron metabolism. However, it remains unknown whether ferroptosis participates in the process of radiation-induced ovarian injury. Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) is an important bioactive sphingolipid that has a protective effect on ovarian injury. The present study aims to determine whether X-ray radiation induces ferroptosis in the ovarian granulosa KGN cell line, and explore the potential effect of S1P and its mechanism in radiation-induced ferroptosis. The results indicated that irradiation reduced the viability of KGN cells, altered the mitochondrial morphology, induced the intracellular accumulation of iron ions, increased oxidative stress, and induced lipid peroxidation. Furthermore, the radiation exposure triggered the ferroptosis in KGN cells. S1P can alleviate radiation-induced ferroptosis. Furthermore, the protective effect of S1P was reversed after the application of siRNA to interfere with the glutathione peroxidase 4 expression. Ferroptosis might be pervasive in radiation-induced ovarian injury, and S1P may serve as a potential therapeutic approach to protect against the toxic effect of radiation in female gonads by inhibiting ferroptosis.

Abstract
With reduced cancer mortality in recent years, increased efforts must be put into safeguarding cancer survivors' long-term quality of life (QOL). Fertility preservation is recognised as a key component of QOL in survivorship. Concerns about fertility have been seen to significantly impact cancer patients' emotional and mental health as, generally, both malignancy and its treatment may cause a temporary or permanent reduction in infertility. This article reviews the primary effects of radiation therapy on male and female gonads and has further highlighted procedures through which the functioning of these organs can be protected before or during radiation treatment. We have also emphasised the importance of the establishment of multidisciplinary tumour boards and patient education regarding future reproductive function which is an important component of the care of individuals with cancer. This article highlights that infertility is a persistent and major concern that can add to long-term stress in cancer survivors, and education about fertility preservation before the initiation of any treatment is especially important.

Abstract
Outer space is an extremely hostile environment for human life, with ionizing radiation from galactic cosmic rays and microgravity posing the most significant hazards to the health of astronauts. Spaceflight has also been shown to have an impact on established cancer hallmarks, possibly increasing carcinogenic risk. Terrestrially, women have a higher incidence of radiation-induced cancers, largely driven by lung, thyroid, breast, and ovarian cancers, and therefore, historically, they have been permitted to spend significantly less time in space than men. In the present review, we focus on the effects of microgravity and radiation on the female reproductive system, particularly gynecological cancer. The aim is to provide a summary of the research that has been carried out related to the risk of gynecological cancer, highlighting what further studies are needed to pave the way for safer exploration class missions, as well as postflight screening and management of women astronauts following long-duration spaceflight.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The role of kallikrein-related peptidase 5 (KLK5) has been studied in several diseases, including skin and ovarian cancers. However, its role in cervical cancer remains unclear, particularly in regulating the radiation resistance and growth of cervical cancer cells. Radiation resistance of cervical cancer is associated with local recurrence, distant metastasis, and reduced survival. METHODS We first analyzed radiotherapy-naive samples and relevant clinical data from patients with cervical cancer who received radiotherapy without surgery or other antitumor treatment from 2014 to 2016. Subsequently, biopsied tissues, in vitro cells, and transplanted tumors in nude mice were investigated. RESULTS Gene sequencing and clinical data analysis showed that KLK5 overexpression was associated with a poor prognosis post-radiotherapy. In in vitro cell and tumor transplantation experiments, KLK5 overexpression significantly increased radiation resistance. However, downregulating KLK5 expression increased radiosensitivity. CONCLUSION Our results confirm that KLK5 is vital to the radioresistance of cervical cancer, and provide a new target and marker for the treatment of radioresistance in cervical cancer.

Abstract
There is growing concern regarding the health and safety issues of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Long-term exposure to EDCs has alarming adverse health effects through both hormone-direct and hormone-indirect pathways. Non-chemical agents, including physical agents such as artificial light, radiation, temperature, and stress exposure, are currently poorly investigated, even though they can seriously affect the endocrine system, by modulation of hormonal action. Several mechanisms have been suggested to explain the interference of EDCs with hormonal activity. However, difficulty in quantifying the exposure, low standardization of studies, and the presence of confounding factors do not allow the establishment of a causal relationship between endocrine disorders and exposure to specific toxic agents. In this review, we focus on recent findings on the effects of EDCs and hormone system modulators on the endocrine system, including the thyroid, parathyroid glands, adrenal steroidogenesis, beta-cell function, and male and female reproductive function.

Abstract
The prodigious rise of cancer survival rates enables many cancer survivors to live long lives. Therefore, the side effects of cancer treatments as well as the long-term quality of life after cancer have become more relevant. Ovarian toxicity is a major off-target effect of anticancer agents for childhood and young adult female cancer patients. Both chemotherapy and irradiation have been demonstrated to damage the ovary and increase the risks of premature ovarian failure (POF), early menopause, ovarian endocrine disorders, and sub- or infertility. Oncofertility is an emerging and multidisciplinary research and medical field that focuses on providing cancer patients with fertility preservation options. Oocyte quality and quantity are one of the most important factors to determine women's fertility success; therefore, preserving oocytes is paramount for maintaining the ability of young female cancer patients' reproduction after their recovery. This review summarizes peer-reviewed literature on current oocyte preservation options in oncofertility. We describe in-depth oocyte and embryo cryopreservation, ovarian suppression, ovarian tissue cryopreservation, in vitro maturation, ovarian transposition, and adjuvant therapy. Further, we discuss current guidelines and practices of female fertility preservation that cover preserving oocytes.

Abstract
Background: Infertility is a world-wide problem and one third females. Over the years, anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) has emerged as a major marker of ovarian reserve. There is also increasing interest in determining the factors which can impact AMH levels. Aims: To correlate the association of reproductive and lifestyle factors on AMH levels in women of Indian origin. Settings and Design: Multicentric cross sectional study. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted using data extracted from the patient records of seven private fertility practices located in North India. Women who were attending these clinics for fertility treatment were requested to fill the questionnaire related to reproductive and lifestyle factors. Statistical Analysis used: Our outcome variable was level of AMH measured in the past 3 months, and was assessed as normal or low. All analyses were conducted using STATA 17. Results: We found a direct association of low AMH with increasing age, short cycles, amenorrhea and women with family history of premature menopause. We found a direct correlation of high AMH and women with polycystic ovary syndrome and those whose partners had Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OATS) or azoospermia. There was no correlation with smoking, sleep, diet, body mass index, cell phone or laptop use in our study. Conclusion: Reproductive and lifestyle factors may affect ovarian reserve and but there was a dearth of human studies in this area. To the best of our knowledge this is the first human study on the effect of AMH on Laptop and Cell phone use. We urgently need more studies to confirm or refute our findings so that we can counsel our patients well.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Ionizing radiation has various applications, including uses in medicine, industry, agriculture, and research. However, ionizing radiation is accompanied by side effects in normal radiosensitive tissues. Probiotics as natural radioprotective agents can protect normal tissues from ionizing radiation. In this regard, this study aimed to investigate the effect of Lactobacillus species on apoptosis-related genes BCL2, BAX, and caspase 3 (CASP3) in the testes of gamma-irradiated rats. METHODS A total of 30 male Wistar rats were involved in this study. The animals received the whole- body radiation with the dose rate of 2 Gy gamma-ray and were orally gavaged with 0.2 mL of 1×1010 Lactobacillus species in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) for 4 weeks. Then, the relative gene expression levels of BCL2, BAX, and CASP3 in the testis were assessed by using the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). RESULTS Compared with the control group, radiation significantly downregulated the BCL2 and upregulated the BAX and CASP3 genes (p<0.0001). However, Lactobacillus species significantly reversed these effects. CONCLUSION All in all, according to our results, employing Lactobacilli probiotics as a natural radioprotector may protect radiosensitive tissue from damage.

Abstract
Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a rare pathology affecting 1-2% of under-40 year-old women, 1 in 1000 under-30 year-olds and 1 in 10,000 under-20 year-olds. There are multiple etiologies, which can be classified as primary (chromosomal, genetic, auto-immune) and secondary or iatrogenic (surgical, or secondary to chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy). Despite important progress in genetics, more than 60% of cases of primary POI still have no identifiable etiology; these cases are known as idiopathic POI. POI is defined by the association of 1 clinical and 1 biological criterion: primary or secondary amenorrhea or spaniomenorrhea of>4 months with onset before 40 year of age, and elevated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)>25IU/L on 2 assays at>4 weeks' interval. Estradiol level is low, and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels have usually collapsed. Initial etiological work-up comprises auto-immune assessment, karyotype, FMR1 premutation screening and gene-panel study. If all of these are normal, the patient and parents may be offered genome-wide analysis under the "France Génomique" project. The term ovarian insufficiency suggests that the dysfunction is not necessarily definitive. In some cases, ovarian function may fluctuate, and spontaneous pregnancy is possible in around 6% of cases. In confirmed POI, hormone replacement therapy is to be recommended at least up to the physiological menopause age of 51 years. Management in a rare diseases center may be proposed.

Abstract
Fertility preservation is an emerging discipline, which is of substantial clinical value in the care of young patients with cancer. Chemotherapy and radiation may induce ovarian damage in prepubertal girls and young women. Although many studies have explored the mechanisms implicated in ovarian toxicity during cancer treatment, its molecular pathophysiology is not fully understood. Chemotherapy may accelerate follicular apoptosis and follicle reservoir utilization and damage the ovarian stroma via multiple molecular reactions. Oxidative stress and the radiosensitivity of oocytes are the main causes of gonadal damage after radiation treatment. Fertility preservation options can be differentiated by patient age, desire for conception, treatment regimen, socioeconomic status, and treatment duration. This review will help highlight the importance of multidisciplinary oncofertility strategies for providing high-quality care to young female cancer patients.

Abstract
Chemo- and radio-therapy can often affect reproductive organs impairing hormonal regulation, fertility, and sexual function. As cancer treatments become more effective and many patients have long term survival, concerns related to patient's quality of life and reproductive health become relevant. It is especially important for girls and young females facing cancer therapy who have not yet started family planning. Chemotherapy protocols using alkylating agents and abdominal radiotherapy, which are frequently used in the treatment of childhood and adolescent cancer, can cause gonadal injury. The most common clinical manifests are ovarian hormone insufficiency, premature ovarian insufficiency, early menopause and infertility. In this review we assess current literature and summarize current recommendations on the reproductive function of girls and young females undergoing cancer treatment and their follow-up. Fertility preservation methods are discussed, including psychological and ethical considerations and barriers. Improvement of reproductive health and quality of life of adolescents and young adults (AYA) undergoing cancer treatment is an important issue. Further research should be continued to develop efficient and accessible methods for fertility preservation in young patients. An expert panel including oncologists, radiation oncologists, endocrinologists and gynecologists should always consider fertility preservation in pediatric, adolescent and AYA cancer patients, minding patients' medical condition, cancer staging and potential risk of treatment-related gonadotoxicity.

Abstract
With the development of human society, factors that contribute to the impairment of female fertility is accumulating. Lifestyle-related risk factors, occupational risk factors, and iatrogenic factors, including cancer and anti-cancer treatments, have been recognized with their negative effects on the function of female reproductive system. However, the exact influences and their possible mechanism have not been elucidated yet. It is impossible to accurately estimate the indexes of female fertility, but many researchers have put forward that the general fertility has inclined through the past decades. Thus the demand for fertility preservation has increased more and more dramatically. Here we described some of the factors which may influence female reproductive system and methods for fertility preservation in response to female infertility.

Background
Ovarian tissue vitrification is an alternative fertility preservation procedure for young female patients prior to gonadotoxic treatment. Primordial follicle loss might be a potential issue for vitrification and transplantation procedures. This study aimed to evaluate primordial follicle density and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) fragmentation in each stage of the preservation procedure of goat ovarian tissue. Follicle density and DNA fragmentation were examined microscopically after staining with hematoxylin eosin and TUNEL assay, respectively. Both parameters were compared between fresh, fresh-transplanted, vitrification, and vitrification-transplanted groups.
Results
A significant decrease was observed in the primordial follicle proportion after vitrification and transplantation compared to the primordial follicle proportion in the fresh group (88.09% vs 52.42%, p < 0.05, 95% CI 11.54, 66.94). There was no significant difference in DNA fragmentations of primordial follicles between each group (p > 0.05).
Conclusions
The vitrification and transplantation process of goat ovarian strips could cause the primordial follicles loss and DNA damage of the follicles. However, primordial follicles loss and DNA damage were not significantly different in each procedure.

Abstract
The toxic effects of ionizing radiation on the gonads have been widely recognized. Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) has a protective effect on ovarian injury, and although it is known that mitochondria are involved in this process, the specific mechanism is not fully understood. The present study analysed the changes in the serum AMH and ovarian histology in Sprague-Dawley female rats exposed to X-ray radiation only or co-administered with S1P. The mRNA expression profile of ovarian tissue was further analysed via next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics approaches to screen out candidate mitochondria-related genes. Finally, differentially expressed target genes were verified by real-time PCR. The results showed that ionizing radiation could reduce the serum AMH level, destroy ovarian structure and decrease the number of follicles in rats, while S1P administration significantly attenuated the impairment of ovarian function. Gene ontology (GO) and KEGG pathway analysis revealed that a variety of genes related to mitochondrial function were differentially expressed, and the protective effect of S1P on mitochondria was more obvious in the acute phase 24 h after radiation. The differentially expressed mitochondrial function-related genes associated with the protective effect of S1P were UQCRH, MICU2 and GPX4, which were subsequently verified by RT-PCR. Therefore, ionizing radiation has a significant effect on ovarian function, and S1P has a protective effect on radiation-induced ovarian injury, in which mitochondria may play an important role. This study sheds new light on the mechanism of radiation-induced ovarian injury and helps develop a novel potential strategy to control it.

Abstract
Women who have previously received radiotherapy (RT) for gynecologic cancer often suffer from vaginal fibrosis and stenosis. The success of “non-ablative” laser therapy for postmenopausal vaginal atrophy has led to the idea of testing the laser in patients submitted to RT. In this prospective observational study, we selected patients who underwent pelvic RT followed by vaginal laser treatment. We scheduled three treatment sessions (at T0–T1–T2) and three controls (at T1–T2–T3) one month apart. The follow-up (at T4) was carried out six months after the last treatment. Vaginal Health Index (VHI) and vaginal length were evaluated. Sexual function was assessed through Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Overall, 43 patients with severe vaginal shortening, atrophy and stenosis was enrolled and treated with intravaginal non-ablative CO2 laser. We observed a progressive increase in vaginal length of 9% (p = 0.03) at T2 and 28% (p < 0.0001) at T3; effects were maintained at T4 (p < 0.0001). After the first application VHI showed a significant improvement of 57% at T3 (p < 0.0001). The results were maintained at T4 (p < 0.0001). No changes were found in FSFI. All procedures were well tolerated. In conclusion, laser therapy improved vaginal length and VHI in women undergoing pelvic RT; prospective studies are needed.

Abstract
Cytogenetic examination may be useful in determining the reason for primary amenorrhea in phenotypically female patients. The result 46, XY usually indicates two syndromes: complete androgen insensitivity or pure gonadal dysgenesis. We report a case of a patient, who due to acute lymphoblastic leukemia in childhood was treated with total body irradiation and bone marrow transplantation. Later on the patient presented with symptoms typical for premature ovarian failure and male karyotype in peripheral lymphocytes. The cytogenetic examination for peripheral cells showed normal female karyotype. Therefore, it has been concluded that ovarian function impairment resulted rather from the gonadotoxic effect of oncological treatment than as a disorder of sexual differentiation. The survival rates of childhood cancer are very high and some of the patients will experience premature ovarian failure. It must be remembered that after bone marrow transplantation karyotype of peripheral lymphocytes may be misleading.

Abstract
The management of aggressive pituitary adenomas represents a special clinical challenge, and usually involves a combination of surgery, radiotherapy and pharmacological agents to control tumor growth and hormone abnormalities. Fertility is commonly affected in these patients due to compressive effects of the tumor, pituitary hormone dysfunction or as a result of the multiple therapies. The initial approach to restore fertility involves the reduction of tumor volume by the use of dopamine agonists in prolactinomas and by surgery in other pituitary adenomas. Somatostatin analogues are alternative options for GH, ACTH and TSH-secreting tumors. When present, pituitary deficiencies should be appropriately treated, particularly GH deficiency that has been associated with poor pregnancy rates in hypopituitary patients. Other therapies for aggressive pituitary tumors, such as invasive surgery, radiotherapy and temozolamide, may lead to infertility. In such cases, fertility preservation strategies might be considered and discussed with the patient desiring conception before or during treatment. In men and women with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, administration of gonadotropins or pulse GnRH has resulted in satisfactory pregnancy rates. If spontaneous gestation is not achieved, assisted reproduction techniques can be employed as the last line of treatment. In any context, pre-conception counseling and care are essential as pregnancies in women with aggressive pituitary tumors should always be considered high risk.

Abstract
Uterine artery embolization (UAE) has been introduced for uterine fibroid treatment for two decades. Most of the patients are in reproductive age and many want future pregnancy. In this study, we will assess fertility, pregnancy and its outcomes in patients who have undergone UAE. In this systematic review, a systematic search was performed on important databases including PubMed and Medline, Web of Knowledge, Google Scholar, EMBASE and Scopus. Studies reported enough data about pregnancy after UAE were considered to be enrolled in the review. We assessed obstetric indices (pregnancy and delivery rates, pregnancy losses, complications and fetal outcomes). Study evaluation was done based on STROBE checklist by two reviewers. Totally, 24 original papers were included. Data were analyzed by Stata and MedCalc softwares. Among women wishing fertility, totally 40.5% experienced at least one pregnancy after UAE (95% confidence interval [CI]: 33.3%-48.2%). Pooled estimate of pregnancy loss rate was 33.5% (95% CI: 26.3-41%). Most pregnancy losses were due to spontaneous abortion (81.3% of all losses (95% CI = 76%-86.1%)). Rate of obstetrical complications was 25.4% (95% CI = 13-40.2%) among all finished pregnancies. Pooled estimate of preterm labor was 12.8% (95% CI = 8.7%-17.5%), and pooled estimate of low birth weight (LBW) was 10% (95% CI = 6.2-14.6%). Considering the findings of the study, a safe pregnancy after UAE is obviously possible resulting to a healthy and normal baby delivery. In addition, pooled obstetrical complication rates, pregnancy losses, preterm labor and LBW seem to be mostly similar to the general population. Abstract
Intrathecal administration of nusinersen in adult spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patients with scoliosis and spondylodesis requires image guidance, which is preferably achieved with multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT). As long-term treatment is necessary and patients are young, radiation doses should be reduced to a minimum whilst a sufficient image quality for precise interventional performance should be kept. We compared 44 MDCT standard-dose scans (133.0–200.0 mA) with a hybrid iterative reconstruction (iDose4) to 20 low-dose scans (20.0–67.0 mA) with iterative model reconstruction (IMR), which were performed for procedure planning of intrathecal nusinersen administration in 13 adult patients with SMA and complex spinal conditions. Qualitative image evaluation, including confidence for intervention planning, was performed by two neuroradiologists for standard- and low-dose scans. All 64 MDCT-guided intrathecal administrations of nusinersen were successful. The dose length product (DLP) was significantly lower when using low-dose scanning with IMR (median DLP of standard-dose scans: 92.0 mGy•cm vs. low-dose scans: 34.5 mGy•cm; p < 0.0001). Image quality was significantly reduced for low-dose compared to standard-dose scanning. However, bone/soft tissue contrast and confidence for intervention planning were not significantly impaired in low-dose MDCT according to both readers, showing good inter-reader agreement. Thus, we hereby demonstrate a low-dose MDCT protocol combined with advanced image reconstruction for scanning during procedure planning as a viable option for image guidance in intrathecal nusinersen treatment of adult SMA patients with complex spinal conditions.

Abstract
Background: Intrathecal administration of nusinersen in adult spinal muscular atrophy
(SMA) patients presents challenges owing to severe scoliosis and previous
spinal surgery with metal implantation. In patients with a complex spinal
situation, the potential risks of the intrathecal administration may lead to
delayed treatment initiation. Methods: In this study, we analyzed 53 CT-guided lumbar punctures of 11 adult
nonambulatory SMA type 2 and 3 patients. All patients had scoliosis and six
patients had previously undergone metal implantation. Results: Drug administration was successful in 100% of the patients and none of the
patients opted for treatment discontinuation. Complete osseous fusion
precluded conventional posterior interlaminar access in eight lumbar
punctures in four patients, which required alternative routes including
transforaminal punctures and translaminar drilling. Median duration of all
lumbar punctures was 9 min and median radiation exposure was 100 mGy* cm.
The most common adverse event was post-lumbar puncture syndrome that
occurred in five lumbar punctures (9.4%). Conclusions: Our data demonstrate that nusinersen can be successfully, safely, and rapidly
administered in adult SMA patients with complex spinal conditions and
suggest the translaminar drilling technique as an alternative delivery
route. Therefore, intrathecal nusinersen treatment should not be withheld
from patients because of severe spine deformities, however, drug efficacy in
adult SMA patients needs to be investigated in further studies.

Abstract
Central hypogonadism, also defined as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, is a recognized complication of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis damage following treatment of sellar and parasellar masses. In addition to radiotherapy and surgery, CTLA4-blocking antibodies and alkylating agents such as temozolomide can also lead to hypogonadism, through different mechanisms. Central hypogonadism in boys and girls may lead to pubertal delay or arrest, impairing full development of the genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics. Alternatively, cranial irradiation or ectopic hormone production may instead cause early puberty, affecting hypothalamic control of the gonadostat. Given the reproductive risks, discussion of fertility preservation options and referral to reproductive specialists before treatment is essential. Steroid hormone replacement can interfere with other replacement therapies and may require specific dose adjustments. Adequate gonadotropin stimulation therapy may enable patients to restore gametogenesis and conceive spontaneously. When assisted reproductive technology is needed, protocols must be tailored to account for possible long-term gonadotropin insufficiency prior to stimulation. The aim of this review was to provide an overview of the risk factors for hypogonadism and infertility in patients treated for parasellar lesions and to give a summary of the current recommendations for management and follow-up of these dysfunctions in such patients. We have also briefly summarized evidence on the physiological role of pituitary hormones during pregnancy, focusing on the management of pituitary deficiencies.

Abstract
Disorders of sex development (DSD) are a group of complex conditions that can affect chromosomal, gonadal, and/or phenotypical sex with a highly variable fertility potential amongst affected individuals. In this review we discuss fertility issues facing patients affected by DSD and Turner syndrome and summarise the literature on fertility and reproductive outcomes. We will also discuss fertility preservation prior to gonadotoxic treatment in adolescent and prepubertal girls. Future directions in fertility preservation and ethical issues will also be addressed. Fertility preserving options that are established include ovarian tissue and oocyte cryopreservation. However, in many of the DSDs fertility is not possible and the discussion may need to move toward alternative methods of creating a family such as gamete donation or surrogacy.

Abstract
Women are surviving cancer in greater numbers. For this population, fertility becomes an important issue to be discussed before treatment to ensure maximal chances of fertility after treatment completion. Options for fertility preservation include egg or embryo freezing, ovarian tissue freezing, as well as gonadotropin releasing hormone analogs. The option for each individual patient will depend on the type of cancer, its aggressiveness and the time before treatment needs to commence, the type of treatment, the health of the patient, and whether the patient has a male partner.
