Abstract
OBJECTIVE To synthesize the primary evidence on the efficacy and safety of visnadine on symptoms of sexual dysfunction (SD) in heterosexual women. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) with a primary search without language restriction in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and international clinical trial registries. Trials reporting the use of visnadine by any route in women with SD were eligible. We performed screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment in a double-blind approach. The primary outcomes were the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and its domains. Secondary outcomes were safety, arousal, lubrication, pleasure, orgasm, negative sensations, duration, and overall satisfaction. RESULTS Initially, 242 records were retrieved. We selected nine papers for full-text reading and finally included two RCTs: one with a parallel design and one with a crossover design with a total of 96 patients. One study compared visnadine aerosol with a placebo, while the other compared different frequencies of visnadine aerosol use. Visnadine use showed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.05) in overall FSFI scores, regardless of the frequency of use. A meta-analysis was not possible due to the high clinical and methodological heterogeneity between available studies. CONCLUSION RCTs regarding the use of visnadine for the Female SD are scarce and methodologically limited. This preliminary evidence shows visnadine as a potentially effective and safe option to alleviate some of the clinical symptoms of SD in heterosexual women. However, future better-designed randomized studies with larger sample numbers are required.

Abstract
Background Obesity disrupts the equilibrium of sexual hormones, resulting in decreased sexual desire, arousal, and orgasm. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of substantial weight loss after bariatric surgery on sexual function, psychological health, and the overall quality of sexual life in a group of Saudi females. Method The study used a cross-sectional design and was conducted at King Fahad Hospital in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The study included adult female patients who had previously undergone bariatric surgery. We used the Sexual Quality of Life for Female (SQoL-F) and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaires to collect data. The study was extended from January 1, 2021, to December 30, 2022. Results A total of 100 participants were included in this study, all the samples underwent vertical sleeve gastrectomy, their mean age was 36.7±9.3, 94% (n=94) of the respondents had high school education or above, 50.0% (n=50) were unemployed, and around 13% (n=13) of the samples had a psychiatric history. Surgery complications were reported in 10% (n=10), which were reported as esophagitis (n=4), gastric ulcer (n=2), gastric stricture (n=1), infection (n=2), and leakage (n=1). The median of the FSFI and SQoL-F was 47.0 and 24.5, respectively. Approximately 66% of the respondents agreed that their sexual lives improved after surgery, 22% did not feel any difference before and after surgery, and 9% witnessed deterioration. In total, 61.0% had female sexual dysfunction (FSD) (25% had no dysfunction afterward, 45% had mild dysfunction, 27% suffered mild to moderate dysfunction, and only 2% had severe dysfunction). Regarding SQoL-F, the mean score was 5.59 for sexual repression, 6.1 for self-worthlessness, 18.56 for sexual and relationship satisfaction, and 16.4 for psychological feelings. Conclusions Bariatric surgery was associated with the improvement of female sexual function.

Abstract
To explore the clinical effects of Kegel exercise combined with rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on the pelvic floor muscle function, medical coping style, and sexual life quality after total hysterectomy. This was a retrospective cohort study. A total of 91 patients were collected in this study: 39 patients in Kegel group (received Kegel exercise alone) and 52 patients in combination group (received Kegel exercise combined with REBT). Propensity score matching (PSM) with 1:1 ratio was conducted to avoid the selection bias. The female sexual function index (FSFI) was used to evaluate and compare sexual life quality. After PSM, 35 patients were in each group (combination vs Kegel). The normal rate of pelvic floor muscle in combination group was significantly higher than that in Kegel group (88.57% vs 54.29%, P = .041). After surgery, the score of confrontation was higher, while the scores of avoidance and acceptance-resignation were lower in combination group compared with those in Kegel group. The postoperative total FSFI score and the scores of all dimensions were higher in combination group than those in Kegel group. In patients with total hysterectomy, Kegel exercise combined with REBT can significantly improve pelvic floor muscle function, medical coping style and sexual life quality. Therefore, it is worthy of clinical application.

Abstract
Stem cell transplant proved its efficacy in increasing the survival rate among young patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies. A transplant conditioning regimen is particularly destructive on the genital system, often determining premature ovarian failure, accompanied by vulvovaginal atrophy and sexual dysfunctions. The aims of the present study were, first, to evaluate sexual dysfunctions among transplanted women, using clinical examination and the female sexual function index (FSFI), and second, to determine their impact on a couple's relationship. A prospective observational comparative study was performed and included 38 patients who underwent allogenic stem cell transplant (SCT) procedures for different hematological malignancies and 38 healthy patients (control group). This study included baseline evaluation, one-year, and three-year follow-up visits. In addition to anamnesis and medically obtained information, FSFI was evaluated to determine the impact of gynecological damage in a subjective manner. In the study group, vulvovaginal atrophy was diagnosed in 76.32%, with subsequent sexual dysfunctions in 92.10% of patients, based on FSFI scoring. Even though the results improved throughout the study, at the last visit, mild vulvovaginal atrophy was diagnosed in 81.58% of patients, and the FSFI score was abnormal for 21.05%. When compared to the control group, both sexual dysfunctions and FSFI results were considerably impaired, with statistical significance. There is a confirmed negative impact of sexual dysfunctions and self-declared FSFI on couple/marital status and couple relationships, with statistical significance, at the last visit. In conclusion, anatomical, functional, and psychological difficulties are a reality of long-term survivors after a stem cell transplant. They should be addressed and assessed equally to other medical conditions, as they may determine serious consequences and impact the sexual quality of life and the couple's relationship.

Abstract
Sexual function is a vital component of overall well-being and quality of life. Physical activity is known to have a profound influence on various aspects of health, but its impact on sexual function in the general population remains an under-explored area. This systematic review seeks to thoroughly examine existing evidence, aiming to establish the correlation between physical activity and sexual function in both male and female adults. We conducted a comprehensive search of electronic databases and relevant sources, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Eligible studies were those that investigated the effects of physical activity on sexual function using the International Index of Erectile Dysfunction (IIEF-5) questionnaire and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Quality assessment was performed on the included studies, and the findings were synthesized through qualitative analysis. The review identified 12 randomized controlled trials, primarily focusing on males, with interventions ranging from home-based walking to structured exercise training. Only two studies were conducted among females. The most recommended exercise was aerobic exercise. Consistent aerobic exercise proves to be a hopeful and efficient non-drug intervention for enhancing erectile function in men. However, when considering the effects of physical exercise programs on sexual function and the quality of sexual life of females, the results present challenges in drawing clear conclusions. Health policymakers play an important role in providing guidelines and recommendations to healthcare professionals, encouraging them to prescribe exercise as a preferable alternative to pharmacological treatments for enhancing sexual functions in both men and women.

Abstract
AIMS To investigate the perioperative outcomes and sexual function of patients undergoing repeated transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES). METHODS We retrieved the records of patients who underwent vNOTES twice at our institute between April 2019 and December 2022 and analyzed their baseline information and perioperative complications, and compared the pre- and postoperative sexual function of both vNOTES. RESULTS Patients' mean age and body mass index were 29.00 ± 3.59 and 30.4 ± 4.00 years and 21.89 ± 3.69 and 22.76 ± 3.88 kg/m2 , respectively, when receiving the first and second vNOTES. Ectopic pregnancy was the most frequent indication for vNOTES, with 7 cases in the first vNOTES and 11 cases in repeated vNOTES. The interval between the two vNOTESs ranged from 9 days to 38 months. The operation duration (63.33 ± 13.71 vs. 67.33 ± 22.51 min, p = 0.723), intraoperative estimated blood loss (32.00 ± 20.42 vs. 30.00 ± 9.26 mL, p = 0.429), and duration of postoperative hospital stay (2.20 ± 0.56 vs. 2.40 ± 0.51 days, p = 0.082) of both vNOTESs were comparable. No significant differences were found in any of the domains in the comparison of pre-first and post-first vNOTES, pre-second and post-second vNOTES, and pre-first and post-second vNOTES female sexual function index. None of the patients delivered after the second vNOTES. CONCLUSION Repeated vNOTES is safe and feasible. No significant change in the patients' sexual function was found in our cohort after the first and second vNOTES.

Abstract
STUDY DESIGN Retrospective cohort study with a cross-sectional comparison. OBJECTIVES To assess sexual function and experience in adult women who had scoliotic correction for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). METHODS Women ages 18-40 years with a history of scoliosis, who were braced or underwent uncomplicated posterior scoliosis correction for AIS, followed for two years or more since treatment were included. Sexual function was assessed using the Female Sexual Distress Scale-Revised (FSDS-R) and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaires. Participants' scores were compared to those of a control group consisting of age-matched healthy women. RESULTS Of 115 women who responded to the questionnaires, 40 (35%) had surgical treatment (mean age 25.1; range 19-35 years; mean time since surgery 8.2 years; range 3-12 years) and 35 (30%) were braced (mean age 23.3; range 18-27 years; mean time since treatment 3.6 years; range 3-5 years). The control group consisted of a cohort of 40 (35%) aged-matched healthy women. According to the FSDS-R, significantly more women with scoliotic correction for AIS reported sexual distress compared to healthy controls (25% vs 12%, respectively), and the difference in the total mean scores (7.05 vs 5.34, respectively), was significant (P < .001). Additionally, the mean overall FSFI score for scoliotic-corrected women was 24.2 (range 17.5-29.1) within the pathological range (<26.55) of sexual dysfunction. CONCLUSIONS High rates of sexual distress and dysfunction were reported in women with a history of AIS, thus, there appears to be long-term consequences years after deformity correction by brace or surgical correction.

Abstract
Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) has become a novel minimally invasive approach applied as an option to perform hysterectomy. The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of LESS hysterectomy on the sexual function in women with benign gynecologic indications. From October 2016 to May 2021, a total of 486 premenopausal, sexually active women were eligible. Female sexual function index (FSFI) was used to assess sexual function preoperatively and 6, 12 months postoperatively. Total FSFI score ≤26.55 indicated female sexual dysfunction (FSD). Compared with pre-operation, each subdomain and total FSFI scores increased at 6 (all p < 0.05) and 12 months (all p < 0.001). Prevalence of FSD decreased at 6 (30 vs 39.9%, p = 0.002) and 12 months (27 vs 39.9%, p < 0.001). In patients with preoperative FSD, each subdomain and total FSFI scores improved at 6 and 12 months (all p < 0.001), while decreased at 6 months (p < 0.001) and had no significant difference at 12 months (p = 0.54) in patients without preoperative FSD. These results suggest that LESS hysterectomy has a significant positive effect on the sexual function in women with benign gynecologic diseases, especially those with preoperative FSD.

Abstract
Introduction Endometriosis can lead to a state of chronic inflammation marked by the presence of scarring and adhesions within the pelvis and/or other parts of the body. Recent estimates suggest that globally this condition affects approximately 10% of women in the reproductive age group. Aims In this study we sought updated evidence on the association between endometriosis and sexual function in female patients. Methods We used standard assessment tools to conduct a systematic search of the PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus databases for observational studies that documented the association of endometriosis with female sexual function. A random-effects model was used for the analysis, and effect sizes were reported as the weighted mean difference (WMD) or OR with 95% CIs. Results A total of 13 studies were selected for inclusion in our investigation. All of the included studies were cross-sectional in design. The data on sexual function in most of the studies were collected by using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) tool, for which higher scores suggest better sexual function. The risk of sexual dysfunction (based on specific cutoffs for the FSFI score) was higher in women with than in women without endometriosis (OR 1.71; 95% CI, 1.21-2.43). In addition, when we used continuous scores to examine the risk of sexual dysfunction, diagnosis of endometriosis was associated with significantly lower overall FSFI scores (WMD, -3.40; 95% CI, -5.13 to -1.66) and lower scores on all of its 6 domains, ie, desire (WMD, -0.27; 95% CI, -0.53 to -0.02), arousal (WMD, -0.43; 95% CI, -0.79 to -0.07), lubrication (WMD, -0.49; 95% CI, -0.66 to -0.31), orgasm (WMD, -0.65; 95% CI, -1.07 to -0.23), satisfaction (WMD, -0.52; 95% CI, -0.77 to -0.26), and pain (WMD, -1.06; 95% CI, -1.57 to -0.55). Conclusion The findings of this study suggest that female patients with endometriosis have suboptimal sexual function compared with healthy female subjects. Patients with endometriosis should be offered sexual counseling and supportive care by a multidisciplinary team of gynecologists, psychologists, and sexual therapists.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate how hysterectomy performed for benign gynecologic pathologies affects the quality of life and sexual function of patients aged 35 years or younger, and if outcomes differ according to the surgical technique. METHODS Seventy-three patients who underwent total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH), supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy (SLH), or vaginal hysterectomy (VH) for benign uterine disorders between April 2014 and June 2020 at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Saarland University Hospital, Homburg, Germany, were enrolled in this prospective observational cohort study. Quality of life and sexual function were assessed preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively using standardized validated questionnaires: the European Quality of Life Five-Dimension Scale (EQ-5D) and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). RESULTS Thirty-three (45%) patients underwent TLH, 25 (34%) underwent SLH, and 15 (21%) patients underwent VH. The median preoperative EQ-5D score, FSFI score, and EQ-5D visual analog scale were 0.9 (range 0.62-1), 19.25 (range 2.4-27.4), and 50 (range 0-100); postoperative scores were 1 (range 0.61-1), 24.15 (range 3.9-29.3), and 90 (range 30-100), respectively (P ≤ 0.001). Postoperative scores were significantly higher than preoperative scores, with no significant difference according to the surgical technique. CONCLUSION Hysterectomy for benign indication in women aged 35 years or less significantly improved the patients' quality of life and sexual function with no differences regarding the surgical technique. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION The study was registered in the German trial registry (no. DRKS00005622).

Abstract
Context Psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin disease, may negatively affect sexual function; however, data on the sexual health of female patients with psoriasis in Vietnam are lacking. Aims To assess the risk of sexual dysfunction (SD) and its associated factors in female patients with psoriasis who visited the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology from April 2020 to October 2020. Settings and Design Cross-sectional study. Methods and Material A total of 302 female patients with psoriasis aged 18 to 49 years were recruited. The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was used to assess the risk of SD (cut-off value at 26). Results The risk of SD accounted for 79.1% of the study population and was not associated with age, comorbidities, weight, or trigger factors. Urban dwellers had greater odds of SD risk than non-urban dwellers (OR = 2.63). Similar trends were observed in terms of higher education than grade 12, less than once a week of physical activities, and psychological stress as a trigger factor (OR = 1.89, 2.65, and 3.41, respectively). Female psoriasis patients with SD risk had a lower age of onset and higher weight, BMI, waist circumference, and PASI than patients who did not (P < 0.05). Psychological stress and high PASI were independent risk factors of SD risk in female patients with psoriasis (P < 0.05). Conclusions Factors with negative impacts on psoriasis may also increase the risk of SD in female patients; among these factors, psychological stress and high PASI were the strongest predictors of SD in female patients with psoriasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The modern era has witnessed a transition to a phase of uterus-preserving surgeries and so holds true for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgeries as well. Laparoscopic sacrocervicopexy has become a preferred surgical modality for moderate to severe degrees of POP in most women of the childbearing age group. With the alarming incidences of mesh erosion, synthetic mesh has almost gone off the market. We advocate a very simple and cost-effective technique of laparoscopic sacrocervicopexy using an Ethibond suture graft. MATERIALS AND METHODS It was a pilot prospective observational study over one year. Consecutive consenting women with symptomatic prolapsed uterus Stage-II of the central component of the quantitative POP classification (POP-Q) were recruited. Laparoscopic sacrocervicopexy was performed under general anesthesia using the standard protocols, and patients were prospectively followed for six months after surgery. The duration of surgery and hospital stay were noted. Patient satisfaction was rated using a five-point Likert scale. The vaginal length was measured immediately after and six months post-surgery. Sexual function was assessed using the validated female sexual function index (FSFI) scale six months after sacrocervicopexy. RESULTS Out of 28 recruited women, the majority were multiparous, highly qualified, and belonged to the middle socio-economic class. Seven patients had co-morbidity in the form of hypertension (17.8%), diabetes (7.1%), and cardiovascular diseases (7.1%). The mean duration of surgery was 105.8±7.2 minutes in the study population. The mean duration of hospital stay was 2.2±0.6 days. No surgical site infection was noted in any of the cases. Most patients rated "very satisfied" experiences following surgery (67.9%). The mean vaginal length after surgery was 7.6±1.2 centimeters. After a follow-up period of six months, the mean vaginal length was 7.4±0.8 centimeters. The mean FSFI score was 30.8±2.4. CONCLUSION Laparoscopic sacrocervicopexy with Ethibond suture graft is a cost-effective and safe surgical technique for POP in resource-limited settings. It also obviates the additional cost of synthetic mesh and the long-term risks of mesh erosion.

Abstract
Sexual health alterations are associated with disasters. Consequently, the COVID-19 pandemic may affect female sexual function. This study aimed to determine the COVID-19 pandemic effect on female sexual function and to know the risk of female sexual dysfunction. This online, cross-sectional, observational research was conducted during the pandemic period. A logistic regression model was used to investigate the associations between outcomes and potential risk factors. In total, 432 sexually active women participating in the region affected by the COVID-19 pandemic were analyzed. The overall findings of our study are that 60 percent of females were at risk for female sexual dysfunction. The average FSFI score was 21.27 ± 7.17. Comparing female sexual behavior before and during the COVID-19 pandemic reveals a significant decrease in the frequency of having sex per week, foreplay duration, and coital duration. In the multivariate analysis, the factors associated with the development of RFSD are age greater than 45 years (adjusted odds ratios (AOR) 15.09, 95% confidence interval (CI) 3.67-62.07), body mass index (BMI) greater than 25 (AOR 3.26, 95%CI 1.23-8.67), jobs as a healthcare provider (AOR 8.45, 95%CI 3.66-19.53), previous COVID-19 infection within the previous three months (AOR 36.81, 95%CI 10.93-123.98), and screened-positive anxiety (AOR 13.07, 95%CI 4.75-35.94). COVID-19 influences female sexual behavior and may increase the risk of sexual dysfunction in women. Concern for the effects of female sexual quality of life in high-risk individuals is essential.

Abstract
Background To systematically review and summarize the available literature regarding the women's sexual function during COVID‐19 pandemic and compare it to pre‐pandemic period. Methods We searched PubMed and Embase from the inception of the databases until 15th April 2021. Data regarding the sexual function, measured by female sexual function index (FSFI), of adult sexually active women were extracted from the eligible studies and compared between the before and during the COVID‐19 pandemic. The secondary outcome was the frequency of intercourse during pandemic time. The random‐effect model was used to pool the mean differences and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 value. Results Our search resulted in a sample of six eligible studies, which involved 1114 female participants. The total FSFI score among study participants during pandemic was 22.93 (95% CI: 19.26–26.59), which indicated a significant decrease in sexual function of women during pandemic as compared to pre‐pandemic time (mean difference = −3.80, 95% CI: −6.48 to −1.12, p = 0.005, I2 = 96%). We also conducted a meta‐analysis of individual FSFI domains. During pandemic, women had problems with arousal (p < 0.0001), orgasm (p = 0.0008), satisfaction (p = 0.0009), and pain (p = 0.009). No significant difference in frequency of intercourse was observed between pre‐ and during pandemic (p = 0.80). Furthermore, no significant publication bias was present among included studies. Conclusion Overall, there was a significant decrease in sexual function of sexually active adult women during COVID‐19 pandemic. The most affected areas of sexual function were arousal, orgasm, pain, and satisfaction. Physicians must be aware of COVID‐19 impact on sexual life of women and provide proper counseling.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate female sexual function (FSF) after renal transplantation (RT) and compare it to an age-matched normal females (control). MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 100 sexually active RT women in child-bearing period. Sexual function was evaluated with Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). We compared the mean scores of all domains of FSFI to an age-matched sexually active normal women. Also, we compared the current FSFI to the pre-transplant status in 54 married women before RT. Factors affecting the FSF after RT were assessed. RESULTS In comparison to control group, RT had statistically significant lower sexual desire (p <0.001) with no significant differences as regard arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, pain and total FSFI score (P>0.05). Among RT, 83 % had normal sexual function and 83.7% of the control had normal sexual function (p=0.8). After RT, the FSFI score increased significantly from 20.7±5.4 to 27.8±3.1 (P<0.001) and 85.2% had normal sexual function compared to 22.2% before RT (P<0.001) with statistically significant improvement in all domains (p<0.001) except for pain score (p=0.8). Female circumcision was the only identified factor associated with FSD (P=0.02). CONCLUSION Successful RT significantly improves female sexual function of ESRD patients. The sexual function after RT is comparable to healthy control except for lower sexual desire.

Abstract
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention describes infertility as the inability to conceive after one year or longer with adequate unprotected sex. Infertility affects both females and males, interfering with their everyday lives and significantly impacting their mental health. Sexual dysfunction is defined as an alteration of the sexual response cycle phases, preventing satisfaction during sexual activity. The prevalence of sexual dysfunction in the United States is high, with about 10%-52% among men and 25%-63% among women. Different scales can measure sexual satisfaction and double as a tool to diagnose sexual dysfunction. The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) is the gold standard for diagnosing sexual dysfunction in women. Overall, fertile women had a higher score on the FSFI than infertile women; however, both groups showed sexual dysfunctions even if the fertile group was classified as a mild disorder. The most common disorders were disorders of desire and lubrication. Desire and arousal dysfunction appeared more common in participants with secondary infertility, while lubrication dysfunctions were more common in older participants. In the future, it will be important to evaluate other factors that affect sexual function and fertility including mental health, male health, and couple factors.

Abstract
This study was to evaluate the impact of the symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome on female sexual function. Seventy nine patients with OAB (OAB group) and 79 healthy women (control group) underwent physical examination at our center, and had their sexual function evaluated using the female sexual function index (FSFI). In accordance with the presence or absence of urge incontinence, the OAB group was further divided into the wet and dry groups. The sexual function was evaluated again after 3 months of pharmacotherapy. We investigate the difference of sexual function between OAB and control group. The effect of OAB severity and OAB pharmacotherapy on sexual function was also explored. There were no significant differences between OAB group and control group, including age, body mass index (BMI), education, occupation, fertility, parity, childbirth, and menopause. Compared with the control group, the OAB group had significantly lower FSFI scores. The respective mean ± standard error FSFI scores in the control group and the OAB group were 2.98 ± 1.07 and 2.27 ± 0.96 for desire, 3.48 ± 1.16 and 2.32 ± 1.44 for arousal, 4.60 ± 1.13 and 3.10 ± 1.95 for lubrication, 3.37 ± 0.87 and 2.63 ± 1.04 for orgasm, 3.58 ± 1.02 and 2.41 ± 1.35 for sexual satisfaction, 3.58 ± 1.02 and 2.41 ± 1.35 for sexual pain, and 22.24 ± 5.29 and 15.59 ± 7.47 for the total score (P < .05 for all comparisons). The scores for desire, lubrication, orgasm, sexual satisfaction, pain, and total FSFI between the OAB-dry and OAB-wet subgroup were similar while score of arousal in OAB-wet subgroup was significantly increased compared with that of OAB-dry. OABSS score was commonly used in the assessment of OAB severity. The difference of the FSFI scores among mild OAB group, moderate OAB group, and severe OAB group was statistically significant (P < .05). Female FSFI sexual function scores were significantly improved after OAB pharmacotherapy (P < .05). Women with OAB syndrome have poorer sexual function than healthy women. Patients with more serious OAB experience more disturbing sexual dysfunction. Female sexual function scores were significantly improved after OAB pharmacotherapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether smoking cessation has an effect on female sexual function and quality of life. METHODOLOGY After approval by the local ethics committee, smoking and non-smoking female participants were included in the study and all participants filled the female sexual function index (FSFI) and the short form 36 (SF-36). The same questionnaires were filled again at the ninth month control after smoking cessation. The scores of these questionnaires were compared between the groups. In addition, the FSFI and SF-36 scores of the participants in the smoking group were also compared with the scores in the ninth month after smoking cessation. RESULTS The rate of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) was significantly higher in the smoking group when compared with the control group (86.0% vs 32.5%; P < 0,001). The FSFI total and sub-domains score was significantly lower in the smoking group when compared control group [21.5 (min:14.4-max:28.69) and 28.9 (min:17.7-max:32.8); P < .001, respectively]. The rate of FSD was significantly decreased after nine months of smoking cessation (86% to 35.1%; P < .001). After smoking cessation, significant improvements on FSFI total and sub-domain scores and SF-36 sub-domain scores were determined. CONCLUSION In this study, it was shown that smoking negatively affected FSD and QOL when compared with healthy non-smoking women, and smoking cessation caused significant improvements in FSFI and SF-36 scores in these women after 9 months.

Abstract
BACKGROUND chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major worldwide health problem. One key treatment for end-stage CKD patients is dialysis therapy such as Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD). This study aimed to find out the differences in the incidence of sexual dysfunction in women with CKD by CAPD. METHODS this study was a multicenter observational analytic study design in female samples before CAPD and after CAPD. It was conducted between November 2018 - January 2019 with 26 female respondents. They were assessed using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaire at pre-CAPD and post-CAPD. RESULTS the results of the FSFI score before CAPD were 32.77 (SD 19.72) and after CAPD was 48.88 (SD 20.29). Analysis of differences in FSFI scores before and after CAPD demonstrates that there was a significant difference (p = 0.003). CONCLUSION women with CKD who underwent CAPD, had an increase in FSFI scores compared to before CAPD. Thus, the use of CAPD can be seen to reduce sexual dysfunction and therefore improve the quality of life of women with CKD.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sexual function is a multidimensional phenomenon that is affected by many biological and psychological factors. Cognitive-behavioral sex therapies are among the most common nonpharmacological approaches to psychosexual problems. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of psychoeducational and cognitive-behavioral counseling on female sexual dysfunction. METHODS The present study was a clinical trial with intervention and control groups. The study population consisted of women referring to the general clinic of a governmental hospital in Iran. After completing the demographic questionnaire and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), those who obtained the cutoff score ≤ 28 were contacted and invited to participate in the study. Convenience sampling method was used and 35 subjects were randomly allocated for each group. Eight counseling sessions were held for the intervention group (two/week/1.5 hour). Post-test was taken from both groups after 1 month, and the results were statistically analyzed by PASW Statistics for Windows, Version 18 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). RESULTS The total mean scores of FSFI and the subscales of sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, and satisfaction were significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group after the intervention. In addition, postintervention pain mean scores in the intervention group were significantly lower than in the control group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION The results of the present study indicate that psychoeducational cognitive-behavioral counseling is effective in improving female sexual function. It is recommended to compare the effects of psychoeducational cognitive-behavioral counseling on sexual dysfunctions of couples and with a larger sample size in future research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depressive symptoms may affect female mid-life sexuality, whereas sexual problems tend to aggravate depression. Despite this, data assessing this association drawn from mid-aged Paraguayan women are scarce. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to assess the association between depressed mood and the risk of sexual dysfunction during female mid-life. METHODS Sexually active urban-living women from Asunción, Paraguay (n = 193, aged 40-60 years) were surveyed with the 6-item Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI-6), the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CESD-10), and a general questionnaire containing personal and partner information. Depressed mood was defined as a total CESD-10 score of 10 or more, and an increased risk for sexual dysfunction as an FSFI-6 total score of 19 or less. The association of depressed mood and an increased risk of sexual dysfunction was evaluated with multivariable Poisson regression. RESULTS The mean age (±standard deviation) of surveyed woman was 48.3 ± 6.0 years and 61.1% (n = 118) were perimenopausal and postmenopausal. A total of 21.8% (n = 42) had depressed mood and 28.5% (n = 55) had an increased risk of sexual dysfunction. The final adjusted regression model determined that women with depressed mood were twice as likely to have an increased risk of sexual dysfunction, compared to women with normal mood (adjusted prevalence ratio = 2.14, 95% confidence interval 1.26-3.60). On the other hand, depressed mood was associated with a mean total FSFI-6 score that was 20% lower than that observed among women with normal mood (adjusted incidence rate ratio = 0.80, 95% confidence interval 0.68-0.93). CONCLUSION In this mid-aged Paraguayan female sample there was a significant association between depressed mood and an increased risk of sexual dysfunction.

Abstract
Background: The impact of patient cure by direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) on female sexual dysfunction (FSD) associated with HCV hasn't been studied.Aim: To study the impact of DAAs on associated FSD in patients with chronic HCV infection. Methods: In patients with chronic HCV infection who were eligible for DAAs, the self-administered female-sexual-function index (FSFI) questionnaire was completed by 300 sexually active females' patients before treatment and compared to equal number of age and socioeconomically matched controls. FSFI questionnaire results after treatment were compared to patients' baseline results. Results: The mean total score for the patients was significantly lower than that for controls (16.77 ± 1.36 versus 17.52 ± 0.99, P < 0.001). Patients after treatment with DAAs significantly scored better results than baseline results in the total score and all domains of the questionnaire and significantly less patients had FSD compared to baseline (2.7% versus 29.3% P < 0.05). Patients' mean FSFI score significantly improved after cure (18.8 ± 0.27 vs. 16.77 ± 1.36, P < 0.001).Conclusion: Hepatitis C has negative impacts on FSF and affecting all domains of FSFI. The DAAS improve the sexual burden associated with hepatitis C in patients who achieved sustained virologic response.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of female sexual dysfunction together with the concerns of women about sexuality during pregnancy. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 207 healthy, sexually active pregnant women were enrolled in the study. Demographic data of all participants were noted and sexual functions were evaluated by Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Each FSFI domain score was calculated and mean scores were noted. Concerns of women about sexuality were also investigated. RESULTS Mean age of participant women was 27.0±5.9 (range 15-44) years. Prevalence of sexual dysfunction was found to be 87% in study population. Mean FSFI score was 18.6±1.21. The rate of sexual dysfunction was higher in the first (87%) and third (92.6%) trimesters when compared to the second (80.6%) trimester (p=0.243). Among demographic variables, education levels of partners and preconceptional sexual dysfunction were found to be significantly related to FSD. The most common concerns of women about sexual relationship have been reported as the fear of having pain (35%), risk of abortion (21.3%) and religious factors (10%). CONCLUSION Prevalence of sexual dysfunction is relatively high among pregnant women. Educational levels and preconceptional sexual functions were found to have an impact on this high rate. Accurate counseling of partners about sexuality during pregnancy may help to reduce misbeliefs, concerns and, thereby, decrease this high rate of female sexual dysfunction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sexual dysfunction (SD) is a known adverse effect of psychotropic medications. Even though sexual difficulties are common among women; very few studies have been carried out in India. OBJECTIVE To study the prevalence and nature of SD among females receiving psychotropic medications and to compare the SD among female patients receiving antipsychotics and antidepressants. MATERIALS AND METHODS Female investigator conducted a hospital-based cross-sectional study on female patients visiting the psychiatry outpatient department. Patients meeting inclusion criteria were assessed for SD disorder as per Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th Edition Text Revision. SD severity was measured using Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) scale. RESULTS The prevalence of SD in this study was 68.32%. There was more than one SD in 48 (47.52%). FSFI score was significantly low in patients with SD as compared to patients not having SD (P = 0.001). SD was more common in patients who were on combination of antidepressants and benzodiazepines than antidepressant alone or antipsychotic alone. CONCLUSION SD was prevalent in more than 50% of female patients on psychotropic drugs. Number of patients on individual psychotropic drugs was so small that a definite conclusion could not be drawn. Study emphasizes the need to carry out similar study on larger number of patients to get better insight into this problem.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) in Indian women is often overlooked due to cultural beliefs and considered as social taboos. Sexuality is an important and integral part of life. There are many causes of sexual dysfunction, but the prevalence of FSD in endometriotic patients is still underdiagnosed. MATERIALS AND METHODS Study design - Cross-sectional observational study conducted at tertiary care center, from June 2015 to March 2016. Sample size - Fifty-one patients in reproductive age group (18-47 years) who were diagnosed with endometriosis on diagnostic laparoscopy were included. Methods - FSD was assessed with a detailed 19-item female sexual function index questionnaire. All six domains of sexual dysfunction, i.e., desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain were studied. Exclusion - Patients with other gynecological, medical or surgical history were excluded. RESULTS Out of 51 patients with endometriosis, 47.06% of patients had sexual dysfunction. With the increase in staging of endometriosis, sexual dysfunction prevalence is also rising. FSD was 100% in patients with severe endometriosis as compared to 33.33% in minimal endometriosis. CONCLUSION Every individual deserves good sexual life. The sexual dysfunction associated with endometriosis should also be taken into consideration while managing these patients.

Abstract
A person’s image, which is determined through physical appearance, considerably affects self-esteem developed from early childhood. Scoliosis causes multiple trunk deformations that can affect a person’s perception of the body. The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of scoliosis dimension and the degree of trunk deformation on the level of self-esteem and sexual functioning in women with idiopathic scoliosis. Thirty-six women diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis were recruited to a prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial. The subjects were divided into two groups depending on the value of the Cobb angle. The level of self-esteem was determined by means of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES), whereas the sexual functioning was assessed via the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). The trunk deformations were specified with the Posterior Trunk Symmetry Index (POTSI). A statistically significant correlation was proved between the amount of points received in the Rosenberg scale evaluation and the POTSI index in Group A (R = −0.56, p = 0.04). Subjects with smaller deformations within the coronal plane had a higher level of self-confidence. The trunk asymmetries in the coronal plane may have a negative effect on women with scoliosis and their self-appraisal.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy, safety and sexual life quality outcomes of ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablations for the treatment of patients with symptomatic adenomyosis and uterine volumes >200 cm(3). METHODS In our prospective clinical trial 47 patients with uterine volumes >200 cm(3) and symptomatic adenomyosis were treated with single treatment sessions of ultrasound-guided HIFU ablations. Beside uterus and adenomyosis lesion size reductions, outcome measures were symptom severity score (SSS), visual analogue scale (VAS) of dysmenorrhea, female sexual function index (FSFI) scores and the incidence of complications. RESULTS In all 47 patients, the adenomyosis lesions sizes were significantly reduced 12 months after the interventions (P<0.01). The SSS and dysmenorrhea VAS scores were significantly reduced 12 months after the interventions (P<0.01) and the FSFI scores gradually improved during 12 months after the HIFU ablations (P<0.001). No serious complication occurred. CONCLUSION Ultrasound-guided HIFU ablation is a safe and effective noninvasive alternative for the treatment of uterine volumes >200 cm(3) with symptomatic adenomyosis. Particularly maintaining the integrity of patients' uteri leads to significant FSFI score improvements, which were essentially reduced before the HIFU treatments.

Abstract
This is a qualitative–quantitative study based on hospital records of female patients of reproductive age, presenting sexual dysfunction, and treated with 250 mg Tribulus terrestris extract (1 tablet thrice daily for 90 days). Safety monitoring included vital signs, physical examination, laboratory tests, and occurrence of adverse events. Efficacy analysis included results of the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels together with total and free testosterone, and the patient and physician assessments. There was a statistically significant improvement in total FSFI scores (P < 0.0001) post-treatment, with improvement among 106 (88.33%) subjects. There was a statistically significant (P < 0.0001) increase in the level of DHEA, while the levels of both serum testosterone (P = 0.284) and free testosterone decreased (P < 0.0001). Most adverse events recorded were related to the gastrointestinal tract. Physical examination showed no significant changes post-treatment. Based on the results, it is concluded that the T. terrestris extract is safe and effective in the treatment of female sexual dysfunction.
