Abstract
BACKGROUND In this study, we aimed to evaluate the association of pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) with major cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) in stable coronary artery disease patients undergoing on-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed data from 527 patients who underwent on-pump CABG surgery for stable coronary artery disease between June 2015 and December 2020. Patients were categorized into two groups based on MACCE development. PIV levels were calculated from blood samples taken on admission. PIV was calculated as [neutrophil count (×103/µL)×platelet count (×103/µL))×monocyte count (×103/µL)]/lymphocyte count (×103/µL). The primary endpoint was long-term major cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) at a median follow-up of 4.6 years. RESULTS Of the included patients, 103 (19.5%) developed MACCE. PIV was higher in patients with MACCE compared to those without (470.8 [295.3-606.8] vs. 269.8 [184.3-386.4], p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed a significant positive association between PIV and MACCE (HR: 1.326, 95%CI:1.212-1452, p < 0.001). The cut-off value for the PIV in the estimation of MACCE was 368.28 ( AUC: 0.726 with 69% sensitivity, 71% specificity, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION This study shows a significant link between high PIV levels and MACCE in stable coronary artery disease patients undergoing on-pump CABG surgery. Our findings suggest that PIV may be a valuable, routinely available, and inexpensive marker for identifying patients at increased risk of MACCE.

Abstract
Aim To investigate the role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte(PLR) in predicting the risk of in-hospital mortality in elderly acute myocardial infarction(AMI) patients. Methods This study was a single-center, retrospective and observational study. From December 2015 to December 2021, a total of 1550 elderly patients (age ≥ 60 years) with AMI with complete clinical history data were enrolled in the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University. Routine blood tests were performed on admission, and NLR and PLR were calculated based on neutrophil, platelet, and lymphocyte counts. Outcome was defined as all-cause mortality during hospitalization. Cox regression and restricted spline cubic(RCS) models were used to evaluate the association of NLR and in-hospital mortality risk and the association of PLR with in-hospital mortality risk, respectively. Results (1) A total of 132 (8.5%) patients died during hospitalization. From the results of blood routine, the white blood cell, neutrophil, NLR and PLR in the death group were higher than those in the non-death group, while the lymphocyte was lower than that in the non-death group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). (2) The results of receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves analysis showed that the predictive ability of NLR (AUC = 0.790) for in-hospital death was better than that of PLR (AUC = 0.637). (3) Multivariate Cox proportional regression hazard models showed that high NLR was associated with the risk of in-hospital mortality in elderly AMI patients (HR = 3.091, 95% CI 2.097-4.557, P < 0.001), while high PLR was not. (4) RCS models showed a nonlinear dose-response relationship between NLR and in-hospital death (P for nonlinear = 0.0007). Conclusion High NLR (> 6.69) is associated with the risk of in-hospital mortality in elderly patients with AMI and can be an independent predictor of poor short-term prognosis in elderly patients with AMI.

Abstract
Background The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been suggested as a novel predictive marker of cardiovascular disease. However, its prognostic role in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is unclear. This study aimed to determine the association between the preoperative NLR and early mortality in patients undergoing CABG. Methods Cardiac surgery was performed in 2,504 patients at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital from January 2010 to December 2021. This study retrospectively reviewed 920 patients who underwent isolated CABG, excluding those for whom the preoperative NLR was unavailable. The primary endpoints were the 30- and 90-day mortality after isolated CABG. Risk factor analysis was performed using logistic regression analysis. Based on the optimal cut-off value of preoperative NLR on the receiver operating characteristic curve, high and low NLR groups were compared. Results The 30- and 90-day mortality rates were 3.8% (n=35) and 7.0% (n=64), respectively. In the multivariable analysis, preoperative NLR was significantly associated with 30-day mortality (odds ratio [OR], 1.28; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.17-1.39; p<0.001) and 90-day mortality (OR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.07-1.28; p<0.001). The optimal cut-off value of the preoperative NLR was 3.4. Compared to the low NLR group (<3.4), the high NLR group (≥3.4) showed higher 30- and 90-day mortality rates (1.4% vs. 12.1%, p<0.001; 2.8% vs. 21.3%, p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion Preoperative NLR was strongly associated with early mortality after isolated CABG, especially in patients with a high preoperative NLR (≥3.4). Further studies with larger cohorts are necessary to validate these results.

Abstract
AIM Leukopenia (lymphopenia or neutropenia) may be an important marker of altered immunity and risk in children with critical illness. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence, course, and outcome of leukopenia in children admitted to Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). METHODS All consecutive children (n = 200) admitted to PICU for any reason except malignancy or pre-existing immune deficiency were enrolled during June-August 2018. RESULTS Median (interquartile range) age was 2.2 (0.6-8.5) years. About 52% (n = 103) had undergone a surgical procedure; 34% (n = 68) being cardiac surgery. Among medical illnesses, respiratory disorders were the most common (n = 39, 20%). Laboratory confirmed infections were present in 63 (31.5%) children. Leukopenia was identified in 135 (67.5%) children in the first week; 117 (58.5%) had only lymphopenia, 16 (8%) had both lymphopenia and neutropenia, and 2 (1%) had only neutropenia. In 69 children who had follow-up blood counts, lymphopenia resolved in 33 (48%) within 48 h and in another 20 (29%) by 4 days, and in a further 10 (14%) by 7 days. Children with lymphopenia had higher frequency of cardiac surgery, longer cardiopulmonary bypass time, greater need for invasive ventilation and vasopressor/inotrope therapy, and a higher probability of organ failure on day 4 and longer hospital stay. CONCLUSION In critically ill children, lymphopenia is very common, often transient, but may be associated with unfavourable outcomes. Further studies with follow-up of blood counts in a larger sample are required to determine the course and outcomes of lymphopenia.

Abstract
The role of inflammatory responses in predicting outcomes in oncological thoracic surgery is still unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate a series of blood count inflammation indexes as predicting factors for postoperative complications. We retrospectively studied 249 patients undergoing elective thoracic surgery in our institution between 2008 and 2020. A total of 184 patients underwent open surgery, and 65 underwent VATS. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte (MLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte (PLR) ratios, Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) were calculated preoperatively and on the first and fourth postoperative days, as well as a new derivative index, the Aggregate Inflammation Systemic Index (AISI). Univariate correlations evidenced a statistically significant association between the NLR at the fourth postoperative day and the occurrence of surgical complications in the global cohort (rho = 0.15, p = 0.03). A similar significant association with MLR on the fourth postoperative day is found in the open group (rho = -0.15, p = 0.048). NLR and LMR on the fourth postoperative day are associated with postoperative complications in the whole and open groups, respectively. Simple, easy-to-perform and inexpensive, blood cell count indexes may be useful in predicting complications in oncological thoracic surgery. A greater number of broader, prospective, randomized studies are necessary to confirm these findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular diseases, apart from commonly known risk factors, are related to inflammation. There are several simple novel markers proposed to present the relation between inflammatory reactions activation and atherosclerotic changes. They are easily available from whole blood count and include neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and platelets to lymphocyte ratio (PLR). The RDW results were excluded from the analysis. METHOD AND RESULTS The study based on retrospective single-centre analysis of 682 consecutive patients (131 (19%) females and 551 (81%) males) with median age of 66 years (60-71) who underwent off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) procedure. During the median 5.3 +/- 1.9 years follow-up, there was a 87% cumulative survival rate. The laboratory parameters including preoperative MLR > 0.2 (HR 2.46, 95% CI 1.33-4.55, p = 0.004) and postoperative NLR > 3.5 (HR 1.75, 95% CI 1.09-2.79, p = 0.019) were found significant for long-term mortality prediction in multivariable analysis. CONCLUSION Hematological indices NLR and MLR can be regarded as significant predictors of all-cause long-term mortality after OPCAB revascularization. Multivariable analysis revealed preoperative values of MLR > 0.2 and postoperative values of NLR > 3.5 as simple, reliable factors which may be applied into clinical practice for meticulous postoperative monitoring of patients in higher risk of worse prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Carotid artery cross-clamping during carotid endarterectomy (CEA) may damage local cerebral perfusion and induce cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury to activate local inflammatory responses. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an indicator that reflects systemic inflammation. However, the correlation between NLR and complications after CEA remains unclear.
AIM To investigate the association between NLR and major complications after surgery in patients undergoing CEA.
METHODS This retrospective cohort study included patients who received CEA between January 2016 and July 2018 at Beijing Tiantan Hospital. Neutrophil and lymphocyte counts in whole blood within 24 h after CEA were collected. The primary outcome was the composite of major postoperative complications including neurological, pulmonary, cardiovascular and acute kidney injuries. The secondary outcomes included infections, fever, deep venous thrombosis, length of hospitalization and cost of hospitalization. Statistical analyses were performed using EmpowerStats software and R software.
RESULTS A total of 224 patients who received CEA were screened for review and 206 were included in the statistical analyses; of whom, 40 (19.42%) developed major postoperative complications. NLR within 24 h after CEA was significantly correlated with major postoperative complications (P = 0.026). After confounding factors were adjusted, the odds ratio was 1.15 (95%CI: 1.03–1.29, P = 0.014). The incidence of major postoperative complications in the high NLR group was 8.47 times that in the low NLR group (P = 0.002).
CONCLUSION NLR is associated with major postoperative complications in patients undergoing CEA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inflammatory biomarker that has been evaluated across a variety of surgical disciplines and is widely predictive of poor postoperative outcome, but its value in cardiac surgery is unclear. The authors did this systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the impact of elevated perioperative NLR on survival after cardiac surgery. DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis of study-level data. SETTING Multiple hospitals involved in an international pool of studies. PARTICIPANTS Adults undergoing cardiac surgery. INTERVENTIONS None. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS The authors searched multiple databases from inception until November 2020. They generated summary hazard ratios (HR) and odds ratios (OR) for the association of elevated preoperative NLR with long-term and short-term mortality following cardiac surgery. They separately reported on elevated postoperative NLR. Between-study heterogeneity was explored using metaregression. The authors included 12 studies involving 13,262 patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Elevated preoperative NLR was associated with worse long-term (>30 days) (hazard ratio [HR] 1.56; 95% CI [confidence interval], 1.18-2.06; 8 studies) and short-term (<30 days) mortality (OR 3.18; 95% CI, 1.90-5.30; 7 studies). One study reported the association of elevated postoperative NLR with long-term mortality (HR 8.58; 95% CI, 2.55-28.85). There was considerable between-study heterogeneity for the analysis of long-term mortality (I2 statistic 94.39%), which mostly was explained by study-level variables, such as the number of variables adjusted for by included studies and how many of these significantly increased the risk of long-term mortality, high risk of bias, and number of study centers, as well as participant level factors, such as average participant age and hypertension prevalence. CONCLUSIONS Perioperative NLR is an independent predictor of short-term and long-term postoperative mortality following cardiac surgery. Further research is required to determine which patient-level factors modify the prognostic value of NLR and to evaluate its role in routine clinical practice.

The effect of the relationship between post-cardiotomy neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and platelet counts on early major adverse events after isolated coronary artery bypass grafting. Abstract
Background
In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of postcardiotomy neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts in predicting major adverse events after coronary artery bypass grafting.
Methods
A total of 373 patients (257 males, 116 females; median age 63, range 33 to 85 years) who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass grafting under cardiopulmonary bypass between January 2015 and January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients who did not develop any postoperative major adverse event were included in Group 1, while those who did constituted Group 2. Preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, postcardiotomy neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, postoperative Day 1 neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte x platelet ratio were calculated.
Results
Preoperative neutrophil counts, C-reactive protein values, neutrophilto- lymphocyte ratio, total perfusion time, and length of intensive care unit and hospital stay were significantly higher in Group 2 (p=0.019, p=0.028, p<0.001, p=0.027, p<0.001, and p<0.001, respectively). Post-cardiotomy neutrophil, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte x platelet ratio, along with the postoperative first day white blood cell count, neutrophil, C-reactive protein, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte x platelet ratio were significantly higher in Group 2 (p=0.004, p<0.001, p<0.001, p=0.019, p=0.003, p=0.001, p<0.001, and p=0.041, respectively). The post-cardiotomy platelet and lymphocyte counts and postoperative first day lymphocyte counts were significantly lower in Group 2 (p<0.001, p=0.007, and p=0.009, respectively).
Conclusion
Post-cardiotomy neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophilto- lymphocyte x platelet ratio can be easily accessible, inexpensive complete blood count parameters and may be more valuable in predicting major adverse events in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been studied so far as prognostic factors of cardiovascular diseases. Their role interplayed with endothelial inflammation has emerged as optimal predictors for major cardiovascular disease events and prognostic factors for post-procedural outcomes. METHODS A review of the current literature was undertaken to investigate the relationship between NLR and PLR with percutaneous, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery procedures. RESULTS Our findings show that perioperative NLR and PLR levels are significantly correlated with patient morbidity and mortality rates. CONCLUSION These biomarkers have several attractive characteristics, as they are inexpensive and quickly available, and they can contribute to the early identification of patients at high risk for periprocedural adverse events.

Abstract
Postoperative cognitive disorders after cardiac surgery may manifest as postoperative delirium (POD) or later as postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). The incidence of POD after cardiac surgery ranges from 16% to 73%. In contrast to POD, POCD is usually diagnosed after the discharge from hospital, with an incidence of 30 to 70% of cases, very often noticed only by close relative or friends, decreasing after six (20–30%) and twelve (15–25%) months after surgery. Perioperative cognitive disorders are associated with adverse short- and long-term effects, including increased morbidity and mortality. Due to the complexity of delirium pathomechanisms and the difficulties in the diagnosis, researchers have not yet found a clear answer to the question of which patient will be at a higher risk of developing delirium. The risk for POD and POCD in older patients with numerous comorbidities like hypertension, diabetes, and previous ischemic stroke is relatively high, and the predisposing cognitive profile for both conditions is important. The aim of this narrative review was to identify and describe biomarkers used in the diagnosis of delirium after cardiac surgery by presenting a search through studies regarding this subject, which have been published during the last ten years. The authors discussed brain-derived biomarkers, inflammation-related biomarkers, neurotransmitter-based biomarkers, and others. Work based on inflammation-related biomarkers, which are characterized by the low cost of implementation and the effectiveness of delirium diagnosis, seems to be the closest to the goal of discovering an inexpensive and effective marker. Currently, the use of a panel of tests, and not a single biomarker, brings us closer to the discovery of a test, or rather a set of tests ideal for the diagnosis of delirium after cardiac surgery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Inflammatory markers, such as neutrophils and lymphocytes, for risk stratification of postoperative morbidity and mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease may provide benefit for patient selection for cardiac surgery. This study aimed to investigate the association between preoperative neutrophil to leucocyte ratio (NLR) after cardiac surgery. METHODS A retrospective study from September 2014 to November 2017 undergoing cardiac surgery at Waikato Hospital was conducted. Preoperative haematological profiles, patient factors and primary and secondary endpoints were obtained. The primary endpoint was 30-day new postoperative atrial fibrillation requiring treatment, new neurological insult, readmission within 30 days and 30-day mortality. The secondary endpoint was long-term all cause mortality. RESULTS Of the 1,694 patients included in the study, 21% (356/1,694) of patients had new atrial fibrillation (AF), 3.0% (51/1,694) strokes, 10.6% (180/1,694) readmissions and 2.8% (47/1,694) deaths within 30 days were observed. Receiver operator curve (ROC) returned a cut-off value of NLR equal to or greater than 3.23 (high NLR) to be associated with greatest mortality. Subsequently, a high NLR was compared to the endpoints. High NLR was associated with higher postoperative (p<0.001) and discharge creatinine, longer ICU stay (p=0.012), prolonged intubation and ventilation (p<0.001), new neurological status (p=0.002) and increased risk of returning to theatre (p=0.009). After logistic regression, high NLR was associated with increased mortality (OR 3.36, p=0.001). CONCLUSIONS The interpretation and utilisation of readily available haematological markers can provide further risk stratification data to the surgeon when considering the postoperative cardiac surgery risks.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate a series of blood count inflammation indexes in predicting anastomotic leakage (AL) in elective colorectal surgery. METHODS Demographic, pathologic, and clinical data of 1432 consecutive patients submitted to colorectal surgery in eight surgical centers were retrospectively evaluated. The neutrophil to lymphocyte (NLR), derived neutrophil to lymphocyte (dNLR), lymphocyte to monocyte (LMR), and platelet to lymphocyte (PLR) ratios were calculated before surgery and on the 1st and 4th postoperative days, in patients with or without AL. RESULTS There were 106 patients with AL (65 males, mean age 67.4 years). The NLR, dNLR, and PLR were significantly higher in patients with AL in comparison to those without, on both the 1st and 4th postoperative days, but significance was greater on the 4th postoperative day. An NLR cutoff value of 7.1 on this day showed the best area under the curve (AUC 0.744; 95% CI 0.719-0.768) in predicting AL. CONCLUSIONS Among the blood cell indexes of inflammation evaluated, NLR on the 4th postoperative day showed the best ability to predict AL. NLR is a low cost, easy to perform, and widely available index, which might be potentially used in clinical practice as a predictor of AL in patients undergoing elective colorectal surgery.

Abstract
Background Cardiac surgery remains the gold standard treatment for select cohorts of patients with coronary artery and valvular heart diseases. It induces an acute systemic inflammatory response due to cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), myocardial arrest, and surgical trauma. There is growing evidence that increased inflammation leads to greater complications and poorer outcomes for patients post cardiac surgery. Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a promising marker of inflammation. This study assessed if NLR could predict postoperative atrial fibrillation and acute kidney injury after cardiac surgery. Methods A retrospective review of patients undergoing first-time on-pump cardiac surgery was performed. Postoperative atrial fibrillation and acute kidney injury within 7 days of surgery was recorded. Preoperative, day 1, and day 2 NLR were recorded. Potential confounders such as age, sex, comorbidities, and operative factors were included in univariate analysis. Backwards stepwise multivariate regression analysis was performed to identify independent predictors of these complications. Results Nine hundred and six patients were included for analysis. Higher preoperative NLR was significantly associated with postoperative atrial fibrillation. Day 1 and day 2 NLR were associated with postoperative atrial fibrillation in analyses including all patients. Older age, male gender, preexisting atrial arrhythmias, and higher EuroSCORE II also had a significant association. Diabetes mellitus was protective for postoperative arrhythmias. Preoperative NLR was not significantly associated with acute kidney injury. Day 2 NLR, older age, higher EuroSCORE II, and longer CPB time were independently associated with acute kidney injury post cardiac surgery. Conclusions Higher preoperative and postoperative NLRs are associated with higher rates of complications post cardiac surgery.

Abstract
Background Elevated white blood cell counts and leukocyte ratios are recognized markers of systemic inflammation associated with poor surgical outcomes. We analyzed the temporal stability and prognostic value of the preoperative Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and Lymphocyte-to-Neutrophil ratio (LNR) in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafts and/or valve surgery. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 558 patients who underwent elective cardiac surgery between July 2014 and December 2016, excluding patients with immunosuppressed status. The stability of NLR and LNR was evaluated using interclass correlation coefficients. The patients were dichotomized into two groups, high NLR and low NLR, based on the median value of preoperative NLR in our cohort. A logistic regression model compared preoperative NLR and LNR values to clinical outcomes, including a composite of perioperative events and mid-term mortality. Results We identified that NLR reliability over time was good (ICC = .592; R-squared = .351), and LNR reliability over time was excellent (ICC = .761; R-squared = .601). Furthermore, an increased duration between collection dates was not significantly correlated with increased variability in NLR (Pearson Correlation Coefficient: −.111, p = .117). On multivariate model, neither high NLR (OR = .879, p = .168) nor low LNR (OR = 3.30, p = .214) was significantly associated with a composite of perioperative events, but increased LNR was associated with lower mid-term mortality (HR .001, p = .026). Conclusions Both NLR and LNR were stable over time, up to 100 days, but LNR values were more consistent compared to NLR. High LNR was significantly associated with decreased risk of mid-term mortality, and LNR showed a stronger relationship with mid-term mortality than its NLR counterpart. Both of these findings indicate that LNR may be a more useful and valuable clinical marker.

Abstract
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic role of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in pediatric patients undergoing open-heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: A retrospective cohort study of 61 pediatric patients who underwent CPB in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2017 to October 2018 was conducted. All perioperative clinical data, including neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, and C-reactive protein (CRP), were collected retrospectively. The prognostic value of NLR and its association with extubation time, duration of intensive care unit (ICU) stay and in-hospital stay were analyzed. Results: Neutrophil count, NLR, and CRP were significantly increased post-operative compared with pre-operative (p < 0.05). The increased post-operative levels of NLR were significantly associated with longer extubation time, as well as prolonged post-operative cardiac ICU stay (p < 0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that elevated NLR displayed a significant independent association with extubation time and the duration of an ICU stay. Conclusion: Increased post-operative NLR followed by cardiac surgery with CPB in pediatric patients was associated with longer extubation time and a longer duration of an ICU stay.

Abstract
Background Delirium is a quite common complication in adult patients post-cardiac surgery. The purpose of our study was to identify perioperative characteristics and also focus on incidence factors that could predict delirium in the cardiac surgery intensive care unit (CICU) postoperatively. Methods We conducted a prospective study of 179 consecutive patients, who underwent open-heart surgical operation and were admitted to the CICU of a general tertiary hospital in Athens, Greece. The patients were screened for delirium by using the diagnostic tools of Rich-mond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS score) and the Confusion Assessment Method - ICU (CAM-ICU). The delirium assessment was carried out on the 1st and the 2nd postoperative day, and was conducted twice every nursing shift. A short questionnaire on sociodemographics and clinical patient characteristics was used for data collection purposes. Results A total of 179 patients who underwent open-heart surgical operation with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) were enrolled in our study. The 2-day incidence of postoperative delirium in ICU was 11.2% (n=20/179). The main independent predictors of delirium on the 2nd postoperative day were neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (p=0.001) and urea levels (p=0.016). Additionally, increased perioperative creatinine (p=0.006) and sodium (p=0.039) levels were significantly associated with delirium occurrence. Furthermore, elevated EuroSCORE (p=0.001), extended length of stay (LOS) in ICU (p<0.001), and extended LOS with endotracheal tube (p=0.001) were also statistically significant indicators. Conclusion Patients with extended LOS with endotracheal tube and prolonged stay in ICU in accordance with peaked urea, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, creatinine, and sodium levels seem to have a significantly greater probability of developing delirium in the ICU. Further research is needed in the field of postoperative cardiac patients in order to determine the causality and etiology of certain risk factors for delirium.
