Abstract
With the advent of smartphones and the popularization of social media sites at the beginning of the twenty-first century, children and adolescents have been exposed to a world of virtual interactions in social networking sites that are designed to increase engagement of the user for profit. In this article, we review the epidemiology of use of social media, its addictive features, and potential negative consequences of problematic use, and the research on current interventions known to reduce use. We also give recommendations spanning from the policy to the individual level for children to build a healthier relationship with these sites.

Abstract
Internet gaming disorder (IGD) affects 3% of the global population and poses an increasing risk due to advancements in technology. However, there is currently no definitive treatment for this condition. IGD is not a primary disorder but rather a result of "self-prescription" in response to emotional stressors. Unlike conventional mental health treatments that focus on the disorder itself, it is crucial to provide alternative activities that can alleviate negative emotions. This paper extends the concept of the self-medication hypothesis and integrates it with cognitive models of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. In addition, it introduces the mindfulness-based cognitive therapy-game (MBCT-G), a program designed to explore alternative activities through gaming, focusing on the processes of response and reward, which are not typically emphasized in traditional treatments. This study serves as the theoretical foundation for the development of MBCT-G. MBCT-G aims to train individuals in positive coping strategies that alleviate psychological distress, offering a novel approach to treating self-prescription disorders such as IGD.

Abstract
Objectives Here we aimed to consider the neural factors associated with internet gaming disorder (IGD), as well as the associations between these factors and existing treatments for the disorder. Methods A narrative review was conducted. Results Pharmacological as well as psychological treatments for IGD may be associated with specific changes in multiple brain areas and circuits. In particular, fronto-striatal and subcortical regions and pathways appear relevant to IGD and its treatment. Conclusions Neuroimaging holds promise for identifying specific mechanisms underlying IGD interventions. However, to date, firm conclusions are difficult to draw and more research examining neural mechanisms of empirically supported treatments for IGD is needed.

Abstract
After the concept of "Internet addiction" was first proposed in 2004, "Internet gaming disorder" (IGD) was included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) as a disorder requiring further research. IGD is prevalent in South Korea, and many studies have been conducted on the disorder. Previous studies have helped in understanding various aspects of IGD, but a comprehensive understanding of the research trends is required to identify research gaps. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric review of all published IGD studies in South Korea. For the identification of articles, the Web of Science database was used. Data analysis was performed using Biblioshiny. A total of 330 publications were included in the analysis. The average number of citations per document was 17.12. These publications were written by a total of 658 authors, and the number of coauthors per document was 5.07. The years with the most publications were 2018 (n = 57), 2017 (n = 45), and 2019 (n = 40). The top three journals containing publications were the Journal of Behavioral Addictions (n = 46), Frontiers in Psychiatry (n = 19), and Psychiatry Investigation (n = 14). In a keyword analysis (apart from "IGD", "internet addiction", and "addiction"), the keywords "adolescent" (n = 31), "self-control" (n = 11), and "impulsivity" (n = 11) were included. T. This bibliometric analysis explores and summarizes the publications on IGD in South Korea. The results are expected to provide researchers with insights for further studies into IGD.

Abstract
The reward system is highly relevant to behavioral addictions such as gambling disorder (GD), internet gaming disorder (IGD), and food addiction/binge eating disorder (FA/BED). Among other brain regions, the ventral striatum (VS) has been implicated in reward processing. The main objective of the present state-of-the-art review was to explore in depth the specific role of the VS in GD, IGD and FA/BED, understanding it as a possible biomarker of these conditions. Studies analyzing brain changes following interventions for these disorders, and especially those that had explored possible treatment-related changes in VS, are discussed. More evidence is needed on how existing treatments (both pharmacological and psychobehavioral) for behavioral addictions affect the activation of the VS and related circuitry.

Abstract
Impulsivity is both a core symptom and a key psychological mechanism in Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), and therefore interventions for impulsivity in IGD have both theoretical and practical value. However, previous related interventions only tended to focus on a single factor of impulsivity and achieved inconsistent results. In this study, based on the theory of two-factor model of impulsivity (reward sensitivity and rash impulsiveness), four groups of IGD subjects were recruited to investigate whether there were different effects of single rash impulsiveness or reward sensitivity intervention versus a combined intervention. By comparing the different factors of impulsivity of the four groups before and after a 15-day intervention, the results showed that: (1) compared with the control group, subjects in the Go/No-go training group only had a significantly lower level of rash impulsiveness, subjects in the Stimulus-Response Compatibility (SRC) training group only had a significantly lower level of reward sensitivity, and subjects in the combined training group had significantly lower levels of both impulsivity; (2) among the three intervention groups, only the subjects in the combined training group had significantly lower IGD scores in the follow-up measure. This study indicated that the behavioral training of Go/No-go and SRC were effective in improving rash impulsiveness and reward sensitivity in IGD, respectively, but the intervention effect of the combined training was better than that of the single training.

Abstract
The technological revolution has led to the birth of new diagnoses, such as gaming disorder. When any addiction, including this one, is associated with other mental disorders, it is considered a dual diagnosis. The objectives of this current work were to estimate the prevalence of dual diagnoses in the adolescent general population while also considering the problematic use of video games and substance addiction and assessing its psychosocial risk factors. Thus, we carried out a cross-sectional study with a sample of 397 adolescents; 16.4% presented problematic videogame use and 3% presented a dual diagnosis. Male gender increased the probability of both a dual diagnosis (OR [95% CI] = 7.119 [1.132, 44.785]; p = 0.036) and problematic video game use (OR [95% CI] = 9.85 [4.08, 23.77]; p < 0.001). Regarding personality, low conscientiousness, openness, and agreeableness scores were predictors of a dual diagnosis and problematic videogame use, while emotional stability predicted a dual diagnosis (OR [95% CI] = 1.116 [1.030, 1.209]; p = 0.008). Regarding family dynamics, low affection and communication increased both the probability of a dual diagnosis (OR [95% CI] = 0.927 [0.891, 0.965]; p < 0.001) and problematic video game use (OR [95% CI] = 0.968 [0.945, 0.992]; p = 0.009). Regarding academic performance, bad school grades increased the probability of a dual diagnosis. In summary, male gender, certain personality traits, poor communication, and poor affective family dynamics should be interpreted as red flags that indicate an increased risk of a dual diagnosis in adolescents, which could require early intervention through specific detection programs.
