Abstract
Background Aortic aneurysm is a chronic arterial disease that can lead to aortic rupture, causing severe complications and life-threatening risks for patients, and it is one of the common causes of death among the elderly. Increasing evidence suggests that inflammation plays an important role in the progression of aortic aneurysm. However, there is a lack of literature-based quantitative analysis in this field. Methods Up to March 30, 2023, we collected 3,993 articles related to aortic aneurysm and inflammation from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database for bibliometric analysis. The collected literature data were subjected to visual analysis of regional distribution, institutions, authors, keywords, and other information using tools such as CiteSpace, VOSviewer, the R package "bibliometric," and online platforms. Results The number of publications in this research field has been steadily increasing each year, with the United States and China being the main contributing countries. Harvard University in the United States emerged as the most active and influential research institution in this field. Jonathan Golledge and Peter Libby were identified as the authors with the highest publication output and academic impact, respectively. Researchers in this field tend to publish their findings in influential journals such as the Journal of Vascular Surgery and Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology. "Abdominal aortic aneurysm," "giant cell arteritis," "arterial stiffness," and "smooth muscle cells" were identified as the hottest topics in the field of aortic aneurysm and inflammation. In terms of keyword co-occurrence analysis, "Clinical relevant studies of AA" (red), "Inflammatory activation" (green), "Inflammatory mechanisms related to pathogenesis" (dark blue), "Cytokines" (yellow), "Risk factors" (purple), and "Pathological changes in vascular wall" (cyan) formed the major research framework in this field. "Inflammation-related pathogenesis" and "inflammation activation" have emerged as recent hot research directions, with "monocytes," "progression," and "proliferation" being the prominent topics. Conclusion This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the knowledge network framework and research hotspots in the field of aortic aneurysm and inflammation through a literature-based quantitative approach. It offers valuable insights to guide scholars in identifying meaningful research directions in this field.

Abstract
Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is characterized by inflammatory cell infiltration, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation, and vascular smooth muscle cell (SMC) dysfunction. The inflammatory cells involved in AAA mainly include immune cells including macrophages, neutrophils, T-lymphocytes and B lymphocytes and endothelial cells. As the blood vessel wall expands, more and more lymphocytes infiltrate into the outer membrane. It was found that more than 50% of lymphocytes in AAA tissues were CD3+ T cells, including CD4+, CD8+T cells, γδ T cells and regulatory T cells (Tregs). Due to the important role of T cells in inflammatory response, an increasing number of researchers have paid attention to the role of T cells in AAA and dug into the relevant mechanism. Therefore, this paper focuses on reviewing the immunoregulatory role of T cells in AAA and their role in immunotherapy, seeking potential targets for immunotherapy and putting forward future research directions.

Abstract
Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a life-threatening cardiovascular disease. Immune-mediated infiltration and a destruction of the aortic wall during AAA development plays significant role in the pathogenesis of this disease. While various immune cells had been found in AAA, the mechanisms of their activation and function are still far from being understood. A better understanding of mechanisms regulating the development of aberrant immune cell activation in AAA is essential for the development of novel preventive and therapeutic approaches. In this review we summarize current knowledge about the role of immune cells in AAA and discuss how pathogenic immune cell activation is regulated in this disease.

Abstract
Inflammation is strongly implicated in the pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). This review examined the potential role of biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) as repurposed drugs for treating AAA. Published evidence from clinical and preclinical studies was examined. Findings from animal models suggested that a deficiency or inhibition of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) (standard mean difference (SMD): −8.37, 95% confidence interval (CI): −9.92, −6.82), interleukin (IL)-6 (SMD: −1.44, 95% CI: −2.85, −0.04) and IL-17 (SMD: −3.36, 95% CI: −4.21, −2.50) led to a significantly smaller AAA diameter compared to controls. Human AAA tissue samples had significantly increased TNF-α (SMD: 1.68, 95% CI: 0.87, 2.49), IL-1β (SMD: 1.93, 95% CI: 1.08, 2.79), IL-6 (SMD: 2.56, 95% CI: 1.79, 3.33) and IL-17 (SMD: 6.28, 95% CI: 3.57, 8.99) levels compared to non-AAA controls. In human serum, TNF-α (SMD: 1.11, 95% CI: 0.25, 1.97) and IL-6 (SMD: 1.42, 95% CI: 0.91, 1.92) levels were significantly elevated compared to non-AAA controls. These findings implicate TNF-α, IL-17 and IL-6 in AAA pathogenesis. Randomised controlled trials testing the value of bDMARDs in limiting AAA growth may be warranted.

Abstract
CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) have been shown to protect against abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) progression. Statins have immunomodulatory properties, and their effect on AAA partly depends on immune-related mechanisms. In this study, we aimed to explore whether there is an association between statins and Tregs in AAA progression. Sixty ApoE-/- mice were randomly divided into four groups (n = 15 per group): A, saline group; B, control group; C, simvastatin group (intragastric administration of simvastatin); and D, PC61 group (simvastatin combined with an intraperitoneal injection of 100 μg CD25-depleting antibody PC61). After 2 weeks of simvastatin treatment, the mice received a continuous subcutaneous infusion of angiotensin II (Ang II; B, C, and D groups) or saline (A group) for 28 days. Simvastatin therapy for 6 weeks significantly decreased the incidence and severity of AAA and inhibited the apoptosis of smooth muscle cells and generation of reactive oxygen species, which was partly abolished after the injection of PC61 antibody. Importantly, simvastatin increased the number of Tregs and the levels of Treg-associated cytokines (TGF-β and IL-10) and decreased the level of IL-17 both in aortic tissues and serum. Interestingly, simvastatin attenuated Ang II-induced gut microbial dysbiosis, which might be associated with the accumulation of Tregs. In conclusion, simvastatin therapy prevented the development of AAA induced by Ang II in ApoE-/- mice, which might be partly due to the induction of Treg accumulation. In addition, simvastatin regulated gut microbial dysbiosis, which might also be associated with Treg generation.

Abstract
Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a potentially life-threatening disorder with a mostly asymptomatic course where the abdominal aorta is weakened and bulged. Cytokines play especially important roles (both positive and negative) among the molecular actors of AAA development. All the inflammatory cascades, extracellular matrix degradation and vascular smooth muscle cell apoptosis are driven by cytokines. Previous studies emphasize an altered expression and a changed epigenetic regulation of key cytokines in AAA tissue samples. Such cytokines as IL-6, IL-10, IL-12, IL-17, IL-33, IL-1β, TGF-β, TNF-α, IFN-γ, and CXCL10 seem to be crucial in AAA pathogenesis. Some data obtained in animal studies show a protective function of IL-10, IL-33, and canonical TGF-β signaling, as well as a dual role of IL-4, IFN-γ and CXCL10, while TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-12/IL-23, IL-17, CCR2, CXCR2, CXCR4 and the TGF-β noncanonical pathway are believed to aggravate the disease. Altogether data highlight significance of cytokines as informative markers and predictors of AAA. Pathologic serum/plasma concentrations of IL-1β, IL-2, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-10, IL-8, IL-17, IFN-γ, and PDGF have been already found in AAA patients. Some of the changes correlate with the size of aneurysms. Moreover, the risk of AAA is associated with polymorphic variants of genes encoding cytokines and their receptors: CCR2 (rs1799864), CCR5 (Delta-32), IL6 (rs1800796 and rs1800795), IL6R (rs12133641), IL10 (rs1800896), TGFB1 (rs1800469), TGFBR1 (rs1626340), TGFBR2 (rs1036095, rs4522809, rs1078985), and TNFA (rs1800629). Finally, 5 single-nucleotide polymorphisms in gene coding latent TGF-β-binding protein (LTBP4) and an allelic variant of TGFB3 are related to a significantly slower AAA annual growth rate.

Preoperative Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio, Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio, and Mean Platelet Volume as Predictors of 1-Year Mortality in Patients Undergoing an Open Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms: A Retrospective Study. Abstract
Objectives: To investigate if preoperative neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), or mean platelet volume (MPV) could be used to predict 1-year mortality in patients undergoing open abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 382 patients who underwent open AAA repair between January 2008 and July 2019. We divided the patients into two groups based on 1-year mortality and compared the preoperative NLR, PLR, and MPV. The patients were then classified into tertiles based on their preoperative NLR (first tertile: <2.41 (n = 111); second tertile: 2.41 ≤ NLR ≤ 6.07 (n = 111); and third tertile: >6.07 (n = 112)). We compared the incidence of mortality and morbidity across the aforementioned tertiles. We performed a stepwise logistic regression analysis to evaluate the predictors for mortality. An additional subgroup analysis was performed by dividing the cases into non-ruptured and ruptured cases. Results: The preoperative NLR was significantly higher in the non-survivor group than in the survivor group (10.53 ± 7.60 vs. 5.76 ± 6.44, respectively, p = 0.003). The PLR and MPV were similar between the groups (145.35 ± 91.11 vs. 154.20 ± 113.19, p = 0.626, 9.38 ± 1.20 vs. 9.11 ± 1.39, p = 0.267, respectively). The incidence of 1-year mortality was 2.7%, 9.0%, and 14.3% in the first, second, and third NLR tertiles, respectively (p = 0.009). Higher NLR (odds ratio 1.085, 95% confidence interval 1.016–1.159, p = 0.015) and ruptured AAA (odds ratio 2.706, 95% confidence interval 1.097–6.673, p = 0.031) were the independent predictors of 1-year mortality in all patients. Moreover, the preoperative NLR was significantly higher in the ruptured AAA than in the non-ruptured AAA group (11.17 ± 7.90 vs. 4.10 ± 4.75, p < 0.001). In subgroup analysis, preoperative NLR (odds ratio 1.144, 95% confidence interval 1.031–1.271, p = 0.012) and PLR (odds ratio 0.986, 95% confidence interval 16 0.975–0.998, p = 0.017) was an independent predictor for 1-year mortality in ruptured cases. Conclusions: We demonstrated an independent relationship between the preoperative NLR and 1-year mortality in patients undergoing open AAA repair, besides PLR and MPV. Furthermore, the NLR and PLR had predictive power for 1-year mortality in ruptured cases.

Abstract
Neutrophils represent up to 70% of circulating leukocytes in healthy humans and combat infection mostly by phagocytosis, degranulation and NETosis. It has been reported that neutrophils are centrally involved in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) pathogenesis. The natural course of AAA is growth and rupture, if left undiagnosed or untreated. The rupture of AAA has a very high mortality and is currently among the leading causes of death worldwide. The use of noninvasive cardiovascular imaging techniques for patient screening, surveillance and postoperative follow-up is well established and recommended by the current guidelines. Neutrophil-derived biomarkers may offer clinical value to the monitoring and prognosis of AAA patients, allowing for potential early therapeutic intervention. Numerous promising biomarkers have been studied. In this review, we discuss neutrophils and neutrophil-derived molecules as regulators and biomarkers of AAA, and our aim was to specifically highlight diagnostic and prognostic markers. Neutrophil-derived biomarkers may potentially, in the future, assist in determining AAA presence, predict size, expansion rate, rupture risk, and postoperative outcome once validated in highly warranted future prospective clinical studies.

Abstract
AIMS Obesity is a risk factor of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Inflammatory cytokine interleukin-18 (IL18) has two receptors: IL18 receptor (IL18r) and Na-Cl co-transporter (NCC). In human and mouse AAA lesions, IL18 colocalizes to its receptors at regions rich in adipocytes, suggesting a role of adipocytes in promoting IL18 actions in AAA development. METHODS AND RESULTS We localized both IL18r and NCC in human and mouse AAA lesions. Murine AAA development required both receptors. In mouse AAA lesions, IL18 binding to these receptors increased at regions enriched in adipocytes or adjacent to perivascular adipose tissue. 3T3-L1 adipocytes enhanced IL18 binding to macrophages, aortic smooth muscle cells (SMCs), and endothelial cells by inducing the expression of both IL18 receptors on these cells. Adipocytes also enhanced IL18r and IL18 expression from T cells and macrophages, AAA-pertinent protease expression from macrophages, and SMC apoptosis. Perivascular implantation of adipose tissue from either diet-induced obese mice or lean mice but not that from leptin-deficient ob/ob mice exacerbated AAA development in recipient mice. Further experiments established an essential role of adipocyte leptin and fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) in promoting IL18 binding to macrophages and possibly other inflammatory and vascular cells by inducing their expression of IL18, IL18r, and NCC. CONCLUSION Interleukin-18 uses both IL18r and NCC to promote AAA formation. Lesion adipocyte and perivascular adipose tissue contribute to AAA pathogenesis by releasing leptin and FABP4 that induce IL18, IL18r, and NCC expression and promote IL18 actions.

Abstract
An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a relatively common, life-threatening disease prevalent in persons over the age of 65. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have suggested that pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs), including Toll-like receptors (TLRs), may serve as important regulators in the development of AAAs. In this study, we evaluated the TLR2 and TLR4 expression in the aortic wall and blood of patients with AAA. The TLR2 and TLR4 mRNA expression were significantly higher in the blood of patients with AAA than in the blood of healthy volunteers (p = 0.009 and p = 0.010, respectively). The expression of TLR2 and TLR4 transcripts was also higher in the blood compared with the aortic wall tissue of AAA patients (p = 0.001 for both). Higher TLR2 protein expression was observed in the aortic wall of AAA patients compared with the blood (p = 0.026). A significantly higher concentration of TNF-α and IL-4 in patients with AAA than in healthy volunteers (p < 0.001 for both) was noticed. This study suggests that TLR2 may play a role in the inflammatory response in the aorta, both locally and systemically, in patients with AAA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE/BACKGROUND The development of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) involves extensive extracellular matrix remodelling, leading to aortic wall weakening. This process is mediated by proteases, including cysteinyl cathepsins. Cystatins are their endogenous inhibitors. This study tested whether plasma cystatin B levels in patients with AAA differed from those of healthy controls. METHODS Plasma samples from patients with AAA and age matched controls were selected from the Viborg Vascular (VIVA) screening trial for AAA. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay determined plasma cystatin B. T-test, logistic regression, Pearson's correlation and Cox regression tested whether plasma cystatin B correlates with AAA size and growth rate, or serves as a marker for AAA. RESULTS Plasma cystatin B levels were significantly higher in patients with AAA than in controls (p < 0.001). Logistic regression analysis showed that cystatin B tertile at baseline was associated with the presence of AAA before (odds ratio [OR] 1.656; p < 0.001) and after adjustment for peripheral arterial disease (PAD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and previous ischaemic events (OR 1.526; p < 0.001). A t-test showed a significant association between cystatin B and PAD at screening, hospital diagnosis of COPD, previous atherosclerotic events, and use of low dose aspirin. Pearson's correlation test showed positive and significant associations between cystatin B and AAA size (r = 0.15; p < 0.001). Cox regression test showed that plasma cystatin B tertile at baseline was associated with later AAA surgical repair before (hazard ratio [HR] 1.387; p < 0.001) and after adjustment for PAD, COPD, previous ischaemic event, and maximum infrarenal aortic diameter (HR 1.523; p < 0.001). CONCLUSION In contrast to prior studies that showed that cystatin C is negatively associated with AAA development, this study demonstrated a positive association between cystatin B and AAA size and associations between cystatin B tertile at baseline and AAA presence and need for later surgical repair. It is possible that these two cystatins inhibit cathepsin activity and participate in AAA with different mechanisms.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the association of high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) with the presence of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). METHODS Medline, Cochrane, Embase, and Google Scholar databases were searched until 22 June 2016 using the keywords predictive factors, biomarkers, abdominal aortic aneurysm, prediction, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, and hsCRP. Prospective studies, retrospective studies, and cohort studies were included. RESULTS Twelve case-control studies were included in the meta-analysis with a total of 8345 patients (1977 in the AAA group and 6368 in the control group). The pooled results showed that AAA patients had higher hsCRP value than the control group (difference in means = 1.827, 95% CI = 0.010 to 3.645, p = .049). Subgroup analysis found AAA patients with medium or small aortic diameter (<50 mm) had higher hsCRP plasma levels than the control group (difference in means = 1.301, 95% CI = 0.821 to 1.781, p < .001). In patients with large aortic diameter (≥50 mm), no difference was observed in hsCRP levels between the AAA and control groups (difference in means = 1.769, 95% CI = -1.387 to 4.925, p = .272). Multi-regression analysis found the difference in means of hsCRP plasma levels between AAA and control groups decreased as aortic diameter increased (slope = -0.04, p < .001), suggesting that hsCRP levels may be inversely associated with increasing aneurysm size. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that hsCRP levels may possibly be used as a diagnostic biomarker for AAA patients with medium or small aortic diameter but not for AAA patients with large aortic diameter. The correlation between serum hsCRP level and AAA aneurysm is not conclusive due to the small number of included articles and between-study heterogeneity.

Abstract
The progression of thoracic aortic aneurysm depends on regulation of aortic wall homeostasis and on changes in the structural components of the extracellular matrix, which are affected by multiple molecular signalling pathways. We decided to correlate the diameter of ascending thoracic aneurysm with gene expression of inflammation markers (IL-6, CRP), cytokine receptors (IL-6R, TNFR1, and TNFR2), and extracellular matrix components (Emilin-1, MMP9, and TIMP) for detection of the degree of pathological process of TAA formation. The experimental group was divided into three groups according to the diameter of the aortic aneurysm. Whole blood and tissue samples were properly collected and used for nucleic acid, chromatin, and protein isolation. The mRNA levels were detected by qRT-PCR. For the detection of protein levels a Cytokine Array IV assay kit was used in combination with a biochip analyzer. In aortic tissue, significant positive correlations were found between increased mRNA levels of inflammatory cytokines (CRP and IL-6) on both mRNA levels in tissue and protein from the blood with maximum in stage 3. Changes of gene expression of selected genes can be used for the experimental study of the inflammatory receptor inhibitors during trials targeted on slowing down the progress of aortic wall aneurysm.

Abstract
Essentials Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is asymptomatic and its evolution unpredictable. To find novel potential biomarkers of AAA, microvesicles are an excellent source of biomarkers. Ficolin-3 is increased in microvesicles obtained from activated platelets and AAA tissue. Increased ficolin-3 plasma levels are associated with AAA presence and progression. SUMMARY Background Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) patients are usually asymptomatic and AAA evolution is unpredictable. Ficolin-3, mainly synthesized by the liver, is a molecule of the lectin complement-activation pathway involved in AAA pathophysiology. Objectives To define extra-hepatic sources of ficolin-3 in AAA and investigate the role of ficolin-3 as a biomarker of the presence and progression of AAA. Methods Microvesicles (exosomes and microparticles) were isolated from culture-conditioned medium of ADP-activated platelets, as well as from AAA tissue-conditioned medium (thrombus and wall). Ficolin-3 levels were analyzed by western-blot, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Results Increased ficolin-3 levels were observed in microvesicles isolated from activated platelets. Similarly, microvesicles released from AAA tissue display increased ficolin-3 levels as compared with those from healthy tissue. Moreover, ficolin-3 mRNA levels in the AAA wall were greatly increased compared with healthy aortic walls. Immunohistochemistry of AAA tissue demonstrated increased ficolin-3, whereas little staining was present in healthy walls. Finally, increased ficolin-3 levels were observed in AAA patients' plasma (n = 478) compared with control plasma (n = 176), which persisted after adjustment for risk factors (adjusted odds ratio [OR], 5.29; 95% confidence interval [CI], 3.27, 8.57)]. Moreover, a positive association of ficolin-3 with aortic diameter (Rho, 0.25) and need for surgical repair was observed, also after adjustment for potential confounding factors (adjusted hazard ratio, 1.55; 95% CI, 1.11, 2.15). Conclusions In addition to its hepatic expression, ficolin-3 may be released into the extracellular medium via microvesicles, by both activated cells and pathological AAA tissue. Ficolin-3 plasma levels are associated with the presence and progression of AAA, suggesting its potential role as a biomarker of AAA.

Abstract
AIM To determine the association of monocyte count-to-high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol ratio, a recently emerged inflammatory marker, with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) size. PATIENTS & METHODS A total of 120 asymptomatic AAA subjects (99 male, mean age: 67.1 ± 10.2 years) were enrolled into the study. All data were compared between patients with low and high admission monocyte/HDL ratio. Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to study the relationship between different variables and AAA size. RESULTS Compared to patients with below-median monocyte/HDL ratio, aneurysm diameter was significantly higher in above-median monocyte/HDL ratio group (54.3 ± 10.6 mm vs 62.0 ± 12.4 mm, p < 0.001, respectively). Hypertension, coronary artery disease, monocyte/HDL ratio and C-reactive protein were independently associated with AAA diameter. CONCLUSION Monocyte/HDL ratio is independently associated with AAA size.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a complex multifactorial disease associated with a high morbidity and mortality. Increased inflammation including T-helper 17 cell-mediated effects has been implicated in AAA pathogenesis. Psoriasis is considered to be a T-helper 17-driven chronic inflammatory disease and in view of potentially overlapping inflammatory mechanisms, we investigated the risk of AAA in patients with psoriasis in a nationwide cohort. APPROACH AND RESULTS The study comprised all Danish residents aged ≥18 years followed up from January 1, 1997, until diagnosis of AAA, December 31, 2011, migration or death. Information on comorbidity, concomitant medication, and socioeconomic status was identified by individual-level linkage of administrative registers. Incidence rates for AAA were calculated and incidence rate ratios adjusted for age, sex, comorbidity, medications, socioeconomic status, and smoking were estimated in Poisson regression models. A total of 5 495 203 subjects were eligible for analysis. During the study period, we identified 59 423 patients with mild psoriasis and 11 566 patients with severe psoriasis. The overall incidence rates of AAA were 3.72, 7.30, and 9.87 per 10 000 person-years for the reference population (23 696 cases), mild psoriasis (240 cases), and severe psoriasis (50 cases), respectively. The corresponding adjusted incidence rate ratios for AAA were increased in patients with psoriasis with incidence rate ratios of 1.20 (95% confidence interval, 1.03-1.39) and 1.67 (confidence interval, 1.21-2.32) for subjects with mild and severe disease, respectively. CONCLUSIONS In a nationwide cohort, psoriasis was associated with a disease severity-dependent increased risk of AAA. The mechanisms and consequences of this novel finding require further investigation.

Abstract
Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic vasculitis of unknown etiology. IFNG gene encoding interferon (IFN)-γ, produced by natural killer cells and T cells, has been suggested to play an important role in the immunopathogenesis of Kawasaki disease. The aim of this study was to examin the correlation of gene polymorphisms of the IFNG gene and plasma levels of IFN-γ in KD patients and their outcomes.A total of 950 subjects (381 KD and 569 controls) were recruited. Three tagging single-nucleotide polymorphisms (rs2069718, rs1861493, rs2069705) were selected for TaqMan allelic discrimination assay. Clinical phenotypes, coronary artery lesions (CAL), coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment outcomes were collected for analysis. Plasma IFN-γ levels were also measured with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Polymorphisms of the IFNG gene were significantly different between the normal controls and KD patients. The G allele of rs1861493 conferred a better response to IVIG treatment in KD patients. AA allele frequencies of rs1861493 were also associated with a significantly higher risk of CAA in KD patients. Furthermore, the plasma IFN-γ level was lower in the AA allele than in the GG allele of rs1861493 both before and after IVIG treatment in KD patients.This study provides the first evidence supporting an association between IFNG gene polymorphisms, susceptibility of KD, IVIG responsiveness, and plasma IFN-γ levels in KD patients.
