Abstract
ABSTRACT This study primarily aimed to investigate the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) and other common pathogens of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in spermatozoa of infertile men and their effects on semen parameters. These pathogens included Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma parvum, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium , herpes simplex virus 2, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus agalactiae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa , and Staphylococcus aureus . A total of 1951 men of infertile couples were recruited between 23 March 2023, and 17 May 2023, at the Department of Reproductive Medicine of The First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province (Kunming, China). Multiplex polymerase chain reaction and capillary electrophoresis were used for HPV genotyping. Polymerase chain reaction and electrophoresis were also used to detect the presence of other STIs. The overall prevalence of HPV infection was 12.4%. The top five prevalent HPV subtypes were types 56, 52, 43, 16, and 53 among those tested positive for HPV. Other common infections with high prevalence rates were Ureaplasma urealyticum (28.3%), Ureaplasma parvum (20.4%), and Enterococcus faecalis (9.5%). The prevalence rates of HPV coinfection with Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma parvum, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium , herpes simplex virus 2, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus agalactiae , and Staphylococcus aureus were 24.8%, 25.4%, 10.6%, 6.4%, 2.4%, 7.9%, 5.9%, 0.9%, and 1.3%, respectively. The semen volume and total sperm count were greatly decreased by HPV infection alone. Coinfection with HPV and Ureaplasma urealyticum significantly reduced sperm motility and viability. Our study shows that coinfection with STIs is highly prevalent in the semen of infertile men and that coinfection with pathogens can seriously affect semen parameters, emphasizing the necessity of semen screening for STIs.

Abstract
Purpose Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a prevalent sexually transmitted infection worldwide, with its persistence being a significant factor in the development of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. Understanding the prevalence and genotypes distribution of HPV can aid in the implementation of more focused strategies for cervical cancer prevention and treatment. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV infection among outpatient-based populations in Wuhan, China. Methods Our study retrospectively analyzed the results of cervical HPV screening in 14,492 outpatient women. The cervicovaginal infection of 18 high-risk genotypes and 10 low-risk genotypes were analyzed by PCR and reverse dot hybridization techniques. Results The overall prevalence of HPV infection in the outpatient female population was 15.33%, with a predominance of single infection and a predominance of dual infection among multiple infections. The top five genotypes in terms of prevalence of HR-HPV and LR-HPV were HPV-52 (3.77%), 53 (1.46%), 16 (1.31%), 58 (1.19%), 39 (1.18%) for HR-HPV, and HPV-54 (1.23%), 61 (1.08%), 81 (1.04%), 42 (0.87%), 44 (0.70%) for LR-HPV. Two peaks of HPV infection prevalence were observed among women under 25 years (22.88%) and over 56 years (24.26%). The prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV infection varied among different outpatient populations, with higher rates of HPV single infection, multiple infections, and infection across all ages observed in the gynecology outpatient population compared to the health check-up population. Conclusion This study revealed the HPV prevalence and genotype distribution among different outpatient populations in Wuhan city, which may provide guidance for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer prevention strategies in the region.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) plays a key role in the onset of cervical cancer. This study was designed to examine the epidemiological trends and genotype distribution of HPV from 2014 to 2023 in the plateau region of Southwest China. METHODS The findings could offer valuable insights for clinical screening of cervical cancer and the formulation of HPV vaccination policies. This retrospective study analyzed 66,000 women who received HPV-DNA testing at the First People's Hospital of Qujing, Yunnan, China, between 2014 and 2023. The cohort consisted of 33,512 outpatients, 3,816 inpatients, and 28,672 individuals undergoing health examinations. Cervical cells were collected for DNA extraction, and PCR amplification along with Luminex xMAP technology were used to detect 27 HPV genotypes. The data analysis was conducted using GraphPad Prism and IBM SPSS Statistics 27 software. RESULTS The overall HPV infection rate at the First People's Hospital of Qujing declined from 24.92% in 2014 to 16.29% in 2023, averaging 16.02%. Specific infection rates were 18.50% among outpatients, 12.97% among inpatients, and 13.53% for health examination attendees. The predominant high-risk HPV genotypes identified were HPV52 (2.61%), HPV16 (2.06%), HPV58 (1.81%), HPV53 (1.55%), and HPV39 (1.09%). Meanwhile, the most frequent low-risk HPV genotypes were HPV6 (1.30%), HPV61 (1.21%), and HPV11 (0.85%). In HPV-positive cases, the distribution of single, double, triple, and quadruple or more infections were 79.90%, 15.17%, 3.59%, and 1.33%, respectively. The proportions of pure LR-HPV, pure HR-HPV, and mixed infections were 22.16%, 67.82%, and 10.02%, respectively. Age-specific analysis revealed a bimodal distribution of HPV infection, with the infection rate rapidly decreasing from 44.02% in the ≤ 19 age group to 19.55% in the 20-29 age group and 13.84% in the 30-39 age group, followed by a gradual increase to 14.64% in the 40-49 age group, 16.65% in the 50-59 age group, and 22.98% in the ≥ 60 age group. The coverage rates of the three available vaccines are all below 50%. The results of this study indicated a declining trend in HPV prevalence in the plateau region of Southwest China over the period from 2014 to 2023, especially in the reduction of genotypes targeted by vaccines. CONCLUSION There were significant variations in the genotypes prevalent among different age groups, years, and patient sources within the same region. The underwhelming vaccination rates emphasize the critical need for developing either a multivalent vaccine or a personalized vaccine that targets the HPV genotypes common in the Chinese population. Furthermore, vaccinating adolescents to curb HPV infection and ensuring regular cervical cancer screenings for postmenopausal women are crucial steps.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The persistence of HPV infection is a significant etiological factor in the development of cervical cancer. The present study investigated the prevalence and genotype distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) in a cohort of 164,137 unvaccinated women from Wenzhou, aiming to provide guidance for clinics in the cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination strategies. METHODS The present retrospective study included a total of 164,137 women, comprising 118,484 outpatients and 45,653 healthy female subjects recruited from 2015 to 2020. Cervical exfoliated cells were collected from these participants for subsequent DNA extraction. The extracted DNA samples were underwent analysis using a fluorescence in situ hybridization method, encompassing the detection of 27 HPV genotypes. RESULTS The overall prevalence of HPV was 17.35%; this corresponded to a prevalence of 19.10% in the outpatient group and 12.82% in the healthy female group. Among the outpatient group, the five most prevalent HPV genotypes were identified as HPV 52, 58, 16, 53, and 61. In the healthy female group, the five most common HPV genotypes were found to be HPV 52, 53, 58, 61, and 81. Additionally, it was estimated that the highest rate of HPV infection occurred among individuals aged between 10 and 19 years old (44.65%) and those aged between 60 and 69 years old (27.35%). CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of HPV in this region is substantial; therefore, it is imperative to implement scientifically sound and rational clinical interventions such as vaccination. Routine cervical screening should be performed to prevent the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia resulting from persistent infection with high-risk HPV, particularly in women with gynecological diseases and those over 60 years old.

Abstract
Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) is a known pathogenic factor of cervical cancer. To develop scientific guidance for cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination, we analyzed HPV genotypes in Suzhou City, China. This study utilized data from the cervical cancer screening project in Suzhou from 2016 to 2021. A total of 444,471 female residents who voluntarily underwent HPV testing were included in the study. The overall HR-HPV prevalence was 10.2%. The three most common HR-HPV genotypes were HPV52 (2.81%), HPV58 (1.64%), and HPV16 (1.46%). The rate of HPV infection increased with age. Having a junior school education or higher was a protective factor compared to having an education level below junior school. The overall HPV infection rate showed a downwards trend from 2016 to 2021. HPV16 exhibited the fastest annual decline rate, followed by HPV18. As the severity of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia increases, the detection rate of HPV infection significantly increased. In conclusion, in addition to cervical cancer screening, it is important to pay attention to health promotion and education for low-educated women aged 45-59. Considering the distribution of HPV genotypes, prioritizing the administration of high-valency HPV vaccines to local seventh-grade female students is recommended.
