Abstract
The presence of polyphenols was examined in carob pods (Ceratonia siliqua) from Southern Italy 90 days after harvest by the validation of a reliable LC-HRMS method. A greater abundance of Apigenin (51490.22 ± 34399.16 μg/Kg) and Myricetin (24897.92 ± 108332.05 μg/Kg) compared to previous research works conducted in Mediterranean countries. Significant differences in the polyphenol content between sampling areas (p < 0.05) were observed, particularly differences in hesperidin and myricetin. These differences confirmed the role of geochemical and climatic conditions in the variation of polyphenol content. This study is a first regarding the phenolic content of carob pods from Southern Italy, confirming the presence of these substances even long after harvest and that carob pods are valuable sources of phenolic substances that may be useful in the prevention of diseases related to oxidative stress.

Abstract
Objective We sought to review the biology and clinical benefits of genistein, a plant-derived isoflavone with emphasis on perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. The focus is on assessing its impact on skin health and aesthetics as well as bone density and cardiovascular and metabolic functions. Methods This narrative review used PubMed to collect studies relating to the biology and clinical effects of genistein on postmenopausal signs and symptoms, including bone density loss, metabolic issues and symptoms, and skin aging. Articles were selected based on relevance to the scope of genistein's influence on estrogen receptors and their downstream effects. This review included in vitro, in vivo, animal, and human studies. Results According to the current literature, genistein demonstrates efficacy in mitigating menopausal signs and symptoms such as hot flashes, bone density loss and rate of osteoporosis, and skin aging. It shows a protective effect against cardiovascular diseases by improving lipid profiles, weight changes, and reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. It also displays benefits in increasing bone mineral density but has not displayed the side effects commonly associated with estrogen replacement. Regarding skin health, genistein appears to enhance photoprotection, wound healing, elasticity, and hydration, inhibits skin cancer, and reduces wrinkles. Conclusion Genistein acts as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) with benefits across a spectrum of menopausal signs and symptoms, presenting a viable alternative to estrogen replacement in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. Its utility extends to improving cardiovascular health, bone density, and skin quality, making it a comprehensive treatment option for peri and postmenopausal women.

Abstract
Resveratrol is a non-flavonoid polyphenolic compound with numerous functional properties, such as anticancer, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, anti-obesity and more. However, resveratrol's poor solubility within aqueous media and low stability usually lead to compromised bioavailability, ultimately limiting its uptake and applications. Nanodelivery technologies have been studied intensively due to their potential in effectively improving resveratrol properties, thereby providing promising solutions for enhancing the bioavailability of resveratrol. Thus, this article aimed to review the recent advances of resveratrol nanodelivery systems, specifically on the types of nanodelivery systems, the corresponding preparation principles, advantages, as well as potential limitations associated. Meanwhile, studies have also found that coupled with nanodelivery systems, the functional properties of resveratrol could trigger apoptosis in cancer cells and inflammatory cells through various signaling pathways. Therefore, this article will also lead into discussions on the application aspects of resveratrol nanodelivery systems, emphasizing toward the fields of biomedical and food sciences. Potential pitfalls of resveratrol nanodelivery systems, such as issues with toxicity and target release, as well as outlooks regarding resveratrol nanodelivery systems are included in the Conclusion section, in the hope to provide insights for relevant future research.

Abstract
Flavonoids, a variety of plant secondary metabolites, are known for their diverse biological activities. Isoflavones are a subgroup of flavonoids that have gained attention for their potential health benefits. Puerarin is one of the bioactive isoflavones found in the Kudzu root and Pueraria genus, which is widely used in alternative Chinese medicine, and has been found to be effective in treating chronic conditions like cardiovascular diseases, liver diseases, gastric diseases, respiratory diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer. Puerarin has been extensively researched and used in both scientific and clinical studies over the past few years. The purpose of this review is to provide an up-to-date exploration of puerarin biosynthesis, the most common extraction methods, analytical techniques, and biological effects, which have the potential to provide a new perspective for medical and pharmaceutical research and development.

Abstract
Skin diseases represent a global healthcare challenge due to their rising incidence and substantial socio-economic burden. While biological, immunological, and targeted therapies have brought a revolution in improving quality of life and survival rates for certain dermatological conditions, there remains a stringent demand for new remedies. Nature has long served as an inspiration for drug development. Recent studies have identified bitter taste receptors (TAS2Rs) in both skin cell lines and human skin. Additionally, bitter natural compounds have shown promising benefits in addressing skin aging, wound healing, inflammatory skin conditions, and even skin cancer. Thus, TAS2Rs may represent a promising target in all these processes. In this review, we summarize evidence supporting the presence of TAS2Rs in the skin and emphasize their potential as drug targets for addressing skin aging, wound healing, inflammatory skin conditions, and skin carcinogenesis. To our knowledge, this is a pioneering work in connecting information on TAS2Rs expression in skin and skin cells with the impact of bitter phytochemicals on various beneficial effects related to skin disorders.

Abstract
Resveratrol is a stilbenoid from red grapes that possesses a strong antioxidant activity. Resveratrol has been shown to have anticancer activity, making it a promising drug for the treatment and prevention of numerous cancers. Several in vitro and in vivo investigations have validated resveratrol's anticancer capabilities, demonstrating its ability to block all steps of carcinogenesis (such as initiation, promotion, and progression). Additionally, resveratrol has been found to have auxiliary pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, and neuroprotective activity. Despite its pharmacological properties, several obstacles, such as resveratrol's poor solubility and bioavailability, as well as its adverse effects, continue to be key obstacles to drug development. This review critically evaluates the clinical trials to date and aims to develop a framework to develop resveratrol into a clinically viable drug.
