Abstract
Background The association between COVID-19 infection and the development of autoimmune diseases is currently unknown, but there are already reports presenting induction of different autoantibodies by SARS-CoV-2 infection. Kikuchi-Fuimoto disease (KFD) as a form of histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis of unknown origin. Objective Here we present a rare case of KFD with heart involvement after COVID-19 infection. To our best knowledge only a few cases of COVID-19-associated KFD were published so far. Based on presented case, we summarize the clinical course of KFD and its association with autoimmune diseases, as well we discuss the potential causes of perimyocarditis in this case. Methods We reviewed the literature regarding cases of “Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD)” and “COVID-19” and then “KFD” and “heart” or “myocarditis” by searching medical journal databases written in English in PubMed and Google Scholar. Results Only two cases of KFD after COVID infection have been described so far. Conclusion SARS-CoV-2 infection can also be a new, potential causative agent of developing KFD.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a necrotizing histiocytic lymphadenitis that was described for the first time in 1972 in Japan. Its etiology is still not fully understood. It has been reported in association with many different agents, diseases, and triggering factors without any conclusive result. To the best of our knowledge, we report for the first time a case of KFD with systemic lupus erythematosus in a child in association with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-positive throat swab for Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Although difficult to prove, the acute M. pneumoniae infection might have served as a triggering event for the development of KFD in our case. We encourage further studies to investigate a potential relationship between KFD and M. pneumoniae, which should also use PCR-based testing for this pathogen in patients with KFD.

Abstract
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a rare form of painful lymphadenopathy, usually cervical, which is more common in Southeast Asia and rarely reported from Africa. Symptoms are usually nonspecific (fever, night sweats, etc.), and can mimic more common diseases such as tuberculosis (TB) in endemic areas. We report a case of a 29-year-old black African woman who was admitted with headache, neck pain, fever, and lymphadenopathy. She was found to have aseptic meningitis, eventually attributed to TB based on cervical node biopsy, although further histology suggested KFD. Blood tests for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were negative; she had already been commenced on anti-TB treatment and had responded well and so was continued with this therapy. She was also later diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis 3 months after her diagnosis of KFD. Five months after stopping TB treatment, she was readmitted with the same symptoms and associated painless lymphadenopathy. Repeat biopsy was morphologically similar to that of 2017, and repeat evaluation confirmed SLE. She has since been managed by a rheumatologist and continues to do well.

Abstract
We describe a 50-year-old woman with a history of thyroid cancer who presented with bilateral cervical and submandibular lymphadenopathy, low-grade fevers, and increasing fatigue. The patient underwent lymph node fine-needle aspiration, which showed no evidence of metastatic or lymphoproliferative disease. This procedure was complicated by a parapharyngeal abscess and cellulitis. She was treated unsuccessfully with various courses of antibiotics, but briefly responded to short courses of steroids. As her cervical lymphadenopathy returned, she underwent an excisional lymph node biopsy, which demonstrated caseating granulomatous lymphadenitis. Extensive review of systems, physical examination, laboratory and imaging studies demonstrated no evidence of malignancy, infection or systemic lupus erythematosus . Our patient was clinically diagnosed with Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease and successfully treated with prednisone tapered over 3 months. She remains in clinical remission.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is a benign disease of unknown origin predominantly affecting young women and presenting in the form of cervical lymphadenopathy and/or prolonged fever. MATERIAL AND METHODS The authors report 4 cases of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease diagnosed in the Internal Medicine Department of Ibn Sina university hospital in Rabat between 2009 and 2010. RESULTS These 4 women with a mean age of 27±8.6years [16-37] were admitted with febrile syndrome and cervical lymphadenopathy. The diagnosis was based on histological examination of a lymph node biopsy. The disease was associated with systemic lupus erythematosus in one case and actinomycosis in another case. A favourable course was observed in response to corticosteroid therapy in two patients, antibiotic therapy in one patient and antipyretic treatment alone in the fourth patient. CONCLUSION In the light of these four cases, the authors discuss the diagnostic difficulties, the modalities of treatment of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease and its clinical course.

Abstract
We report the case of a 19-year-old woman with a history of Hashimoto's thyroiditis who presented with tender right anterior cervical lymphadenopathy and fever. Workup for infectious, autoimmune, and malignant causes was unremarkable. Surgical removal of cervical lymph nodes after detailed magnetic resonance (MR) imaging disclosed necrotizing lymphadenitis, also known as Kikuchi's disease (KD). The patient was treated with a short-term course of steroids, due to the onset of pancytopenia and borderline antiphospholipid antibodies combined with increased anti-thyroglobulin (anti-TG) titers. Despite being a diagnosis of exclusion, KD should be included in the differential of such patients, particularly in cases of previous or concurrent autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which necessitate a long-term follow-up.

Abstract
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease is a necrotizing lymphadenitis, involving young patients, predominantly females. Lymphadenopathy is usually localized, particularly in the cervical area, mostly unilateral and tender. Fever is present in one third of cases. Associated skin lesions, arthralgia, myalgia, splenomegaly or hepatomegaly are rare. Laboratory evaluation shows a slight increase of erythrocyte sedimentation rate and leukopenia. Kikuchi-Fujimoto has been reported in association with other diseases, including systemic lupus, Still's disease, hemophagocytosis, pregnancy, other autoimmune diseases, and cancer. A viral or bacterial origin has been suspected but not confirmed. Lymph node biopsy allows the diagnosis and shows necrotizing lymphadenitis with acidophil necrosis, CD68+ histiocyte infiltrate, presence of plasmacytoid monocytes, multiple apoptotic cells (CD8+ T cell) with nuclear dust, immunoblastic reaction and the absence of neutrophils or eosinophils. The disease course is usually spontaneously favourable in few weeks or months, requiring corticosteroids only occasionally.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, clinicopathological entity of unknown aetiology, is a rare and benign cause of cervical lymphadenopathies. It can be associated with various auto-immune diseases especially systemic lupus erythematous (SLE) or with some infectious agents. EXEGESIS This report describes a survey of three patients who developed Kikuchi's lymphadenitis occurring concomitantly with connective tissue disease: LES in two cases and non determined connective tissue disease in the other case. Comparing the clinical, histopathological and evolutionary findings to the literature allows to identify the main features of this self-limiting disorder: occurrence in young women; clinical presentation with cervical lymphadenopathy in a context of fever and asthenia. The definite diagnosis is usually made through histopathological examination of a lymph node biopsy. Disease course is generally favourable with spontaneous resolution within few weeks. It may be improved with corticosteroid treatment in patients with systemic involvement. Prognosis is related to the associated disease. CONCLUSION Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease is a rare and benign cause of cervical lymphadenopathy that could resemble lymphoma, tuberculosis and may be associated with a characterized systemic disease.

Abstract
Kikuchi's disease (KD) or Kikuchi's lymphadenitis (KL) is a self-limiting disease mostly affecting the cervical lymph nodes of young individuals. Whether the reported cases of KL associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were genuine KL or lupus lymphadenitis (LL) simulating KL in SLE patients is not clear. We analyzed six cases of KD-like lymphadenitis occurring in SLE patients and 12 reported cases to clarify the relationship between KL and SLE. We found that not all cases occurred simultaneously with SLE. Eight cases occurred either before or after SLE. These cases might have true KL independent of SLE with the exception of two cases that occurred after SLE, but the patients still had lupus activity. The 10 cases that coexisted with SLE most likely had LL rather than KL. This was supported by the immunohistochemical finding of sparse cytotoxic T cells in those lymph nodes in contrast to abundant cytotoxic T cells usually seen in a typical KL. We conclude that KL is not related to SLE, and KD-like lymphadenitis coexisting with SLE should be regarded as LL. Pathologists should be aware of the possibility that LL can mimic KL in patients with SLE, especially necrotizing-type KL.
