Abstract
AIM This study aimed to determine advice-seeking interactions of nurses in a private hospital by using social network analysis. DESIGN This study was designed as a cross-sectional descriptive study. METHODS The study was conducted in a private hospital with 70 nurses. The data were collected with a social network analysis questionnaire. The social network analysis (SNA) focused on certain values such as network density, component, degree centrality, and betweenness centrality. The SNA was carried out using UCINET, and statistical analyses were performed with SPSS version 23.0. RESULTS The network density was reported to be 0.062, and it was composed of three components. It was further noted that nurse Y1 was found to have the highest scores of degree and betweenness centrality. Chi-Square Automatic Interaction Detector (CHAID) analysis indicated that the most common variables that affected degree centrality score were education, department, and position. CONCLUSION It was concluded that social network analysis was a useful instrument to delineate strengths and weaknesses of seeking advice relationships among nurses. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING AND HEALTH POLICY Top- and middle-level nursing managers occupy a significant position in advice-seeking networks. Nursing managers with higher education degrees will absolutely improve advice-seeking networks.

Abstract
Purpose Parental knowledge of child sleep is typically poor, and profiling of knowledge patterns has not been performed. In recent years, the Chinese government has issued a series of administrative and legal documents to promote guidance on family education and parenting knowledge. The purpose of this study was to characterize the pattern of parental sleep knowledge for 0~3-year-old children in Chongqing, China, and to examine the associations among the knowledge pattern, guidance channel, and sleep quality. Participants and Methods This was a cross-sectional pilot study of 264 primary caregivers of children aged 1~36 months who completed a brief survey using the 9-item Parents' Knowledge of Child Sleep (PKCS) and a modified Chinese version of the Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ). Hierarchical clustering was performed to determine knowledge patterns. Logistic and multiple linear regressions were used to assess the associations. Results The average PKCS score was 50.2%. Parental knowledge showed a five-group pattern from I to V, with knowledge score increasing with the group number. Parents' access to sources for guidance and information on children's sleep was categorized into three categories from i to iii considering the authenticity of sources and richness of channels. Significant correlates of knowledge pattern were age (mo.) of the child (OR=0.97, p=0.019), low family income (vs high, OR=0.44, p=0.022; vs medium, OR=0.55, p=0.014), and information access patterns i and ii (vs iii with the lowest credibility and richness, OR=2.22/1.85, p=0.004/0.022). Knowledge pattern IV, with a few critical structural defects, showed a significant association with longer daytime napping (β=0.121, p<0.001). Conclusion The child sleep knowledge of parents in Chongqing, China, was at a low level but showed characteristic patterns. Considering the social need and policy directions, it is necessary to improve public services to provide authentic and extensive guidance to strengthen parental knowledge on child sleep in Chongqing.

Abstract
Child sleep is a common parental concern and there is an array of resources available to parents. However, an exploration of UK parents' help-seeking behaviours around child sleep is lacking. This study sought to identify the resources parents use to seek information and help for child sleep, as well as to explore what factors parents prefer about certain sources and their reservations about using other resources. Parents of 6-36 month old children residing in the United Kingdom (UK) completed an online questionnaire between October 2015 and October 2016 about their use, opinions and experiences regarding resources for child sleep. Quantitative data were descriptively analysed and thematic analysis was conducted on parents' open-ended text responses. Participants were 266 UK parents (97% mothers). Parents' ages ranged from 21 to 45 years (M = 33.49 years, SD = 4.71) and all resided in the United Kingdom (UK). General Internet searches were the most commonly reported source used by 47% of parents with a range of other informal resources also frequently consulted. Health Visitors (HVs) were the most accessed healthcare professional reportedly consulted by 38% of parents. Seven themes represented parental preferences for their resource use. Most strongly endorsed included a desire for information from other parents, particularly those with practical experience and accessing information that aligned with their parenting values. Parents preferred sources that provided support and reassurance, as well as those that afforded parents the ability to select relevant elements from a range of information. Seven themes represented parents' reservations about resources. Most strongly endorsed were concerns about reliability, being judged and challenges associated with filtering vast amounts of information. Parents reported having reservations towards sources if they had a previous negative experience with the source. Possible implications of the findings and specific suggestions about how existing and future resources could be adapted to better meet parents' needs are highlighted.

Abstract
Insomnia symptoms and daytime fatigue commonly occur in pediatric oncology, which significantly impact physical and psychosocial health. This study evaluated the prevalence of insomnia only, daytime fatigue only, the co-occurrence of insomnia−daytime fatigue symptoms, and associated risk factors. Childhood cancer patients (n = 565, 12−26 years old, ≥6 months after treatment) participated in a national, cross-sectional questionnaire study, measuring insomnia symptoms (ISI; Insomnia Severity Index) and daytime fatigue (single item). Prevalence rates of insomnia and/or daytime fatigue subgroups and ISI severity ranges were calculated. Multinomial regression models were applied to assess risk factors. Most patients reported no insomnia symptoms or daytime fatigue (61.8%). In the 38.2% of patients who had symptoms, 48.1% reported insomnia and daytime fatigue, 34.7% insomnia only, and 17.1% daytime fatigue only. Insomnia scores were higher in patients with insomnia−daytime fatigue compared to insomnia only (p < 0.001). Risk factors that emerged were: female sex and co-morbidities (all), shorter time after treatment and bedtime gaming (insomnia only), young adulthood (insomnia−fatigue/fatigue only), needing someone else to fall asleep and inconsistent wake times (both insomnia groups), lower educational level and consistent bedtimes (insomnia−fatigue). Insomnia symptoms and daytime fatigue are common and often co-occur. While current fatigue guidelines do not include insomnia symptoms, healthcare providers should inquire about insomnia as this potentially provides additional options for treatment and prevention.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVE Parents tend to under-report symptoms suggestive of sleep disordered breathing (SDB) at medical consultation. It is thought that a contributing factor may be whether parents view SDB symptoms as a problem. The aim of the study was to examine to what extent parents view SDB symptoms as a problem in children recruited from the general community and especially in children who currently have symptoms suggestive of SDB. METHODS Parents of 1639 children aged 5-10 y attending middle school in South Australia completed a questionnaire which included demographics and assessed the frequency over the previous school week of 32 sleep habits including six SDB sleep habit items. The sample was restricted to typically developing children and excluded children with medical problems likely to impact SDB. The final sample included 1610 children without a prior diagnosis of SDB and 29 with a prior diagnosis and/or treatment of SDB. Parents were asked to rate children's sleep habits using a 4-pt scale (never, rarely, sometimes and usually) and if the sleep habit was perceived to be a problem (yes/no). Children who sometimes or usually reported a sleep habit item were labelled as symptomatic. RESULTS Parents of children with, compared to those without, a prior diagnosis of SDB, were more likely to report the presence of SDB symptoms which were more frequently viewed as a problem. In children without a prior diagnosis of SDB, parents of symptomatic children viewed most SDB symptoms as a problem ranging from 91% for apnoea, 63% snorted/gasped, 63% watched child breathing at night, 58% snored loudly, 49% snored to 32% breathing heavily at night. Additional analyses in the combined sample revealed that a prior diagnosis of SDB, gender, socioeconomic status and ethnicity were weak predictors of whether parents viewed SDB sleep symptoms as a problem. CONCLUSION In children with symptoms suggestive of SDB, most parents viewed most SDB symptoms as a problem especially apnoea. The high frequency is contrary to that expected given the under-reporting of SDB symptoms at medical consultation. This suggests that additional factors other than whether parents consider SDB symptoms as a problem might better explain the under-reporting of SDB symptoms at medical consultation. Given the important impact on child health and medical service provision, future studies examining the factors that prompt parents to discuss SDB symptoms at medical consultation are warranted.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Poor sleep in young children imperils language learning and use. Both sleep and language problems are prevalent in early childhood. Speech-language pathologists are in a unique position to expand surveillance of sleep problems, which in turn may contribute to communication difficulties. We conducted a feasibility study of speech-language pathologist screening for behavioral sleep problems and sleep-disordered breathing symptoms at a multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment center. METHODS Speech-language pathologists administered screeners to parents of 2-6-year-olds: the Short Form-Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (for behavioral sleep problems) which includes an item asking if the child has a sleep problem (yes/no), and the pediatric sleep questionnaire (for sleep-disordered breathing). Speech-language pathologists participated in pre- and post-screening focus groups. Pre-screening topics included professional preparation and clinical experience regarding pediatric sleep issues. Post-screening, speech-language pathologists provided feedback about the screening experience and feasibility of incorporating such screening into practice. RESULTS Among 51 children, 31% (16/51) screened positive for sleep-disordered breathing, 78% for behavioral sleep problems (40/51), and 43% (12/28) per parent report. Parent-reported problems were associated with sleep-disordered breathing (p = 0.00) but not behavioral sleep problems (p = 0.24). During focus groups, speech-language pathologists reported no formal pediatric sleep training, high parent concern about sleep, and agreed that screening fit their professional mandate. Speech-language pathologists affirmed that the ≤15 min screenings integrated seamlessly into practice but that additional training, particularly for sleep-disordered breathing, was needed. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of sleep problems in 2-6-year-olds presenting to speech-language pathologists was higher than in community samples, but consistent with data from young children with developmental disabilities. Speech-language pathologists endorsed the utility and feasibility of sleep problem screening and education in their clinical practice. IMPLICATIONS Integrating sleep problem screening and education into speech-language pathologist practice is feasible and could widen surveillance of both sleep problems and risk factors for developmental language disorders. Further research should include larger samples and other settings, e.g. home or school.
