Abstract
Periodontitis is one of the most prevalent human inflammatory diseases. It is characterized by periodontal tissue destruction, progressively driven by the host response. In this regard, cytokines associated with tissue destruction, such as interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-23, use a common signaling pathway mediated by STAT3. This transcription factor is also needed for IL-17A production, a key mediator in periodontitis pathogenesis. Although several studies have reported increased activation of STAT3 in experimental periodontitis, a detailed characterization of STAT3 activation in human gingival tissues and its involvement in alveolar bone loss has yet to be explored. Using a cross-sectional study design, we detected increased proportions of pSTAT3-positive cells during periodontitis compared with health, particularly in epithelial cells and T cells. Other cell types of hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic origin also display STAT3 activation in gingival tissues. We detected increased STAT3 phosphorylation and expression of STAT3-related genes during experimental periodontitis. Next, we evaluated the role of STAT3 in alveolar bone destruction using a mouse model of STAT3 loss of function (mut-Stat3 mice). Compared with controls, mut-Stat3 mice had reduced alveolar bone loss following ligature-induced periodontitis. We also evaluated pharmacologic inhibition of STAT3 in ligature-induced periodontitis. Like mut-Stat3 mice, mice treated with STAT3 small-molecule inhibitor had reduced bone loss compared with controls. Our results demonstrate that STAT3 activation is increased in epithelial and T cells during periodontitis and indicate a pathogenic role of STAT3 in inflammatory alveolar bone loss.

Abstract
Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic, progressive inflammatory disease of the skin with many systemic implications. Hidradenitis suppurativa is frequently underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed, particularly because of heterogeneity in presentation and low disease recognition. Patients can see multiple types of health care providers, including primary care providers, along their journey to an accurate diagnosis. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical presentation, associated comorbidities, and life impact associated with hidradenitis suppurativa. Disease features described here can facilitate earlier identification of hidradenitis suppurativa, differentiation from common mimickers, and timely referrals for multidisciplinary management when needed. Engagement of the medical community will also support comprehensive care strategies necessary in hidradenitis suppurativa.

Abstract
Background Combined immune deficiencies (CIDs) with associated or syndromic features are a highly heterogeneous subgroup of inherited immune disorders. These patients represent specific clinical complications with an increased risk of autoimmune conditions. Methods We analyzed data of monogenic patients with syndromic CIDs adopted from the Iranian inborn errors of immunity registry up to January 2022. A comprehensive comparison in terms of demographic, clinical, and immunological features was performed between patients with and without autoimmunity and also among four mutation groups with the most registered cases including ATM, STAT3 (AD-LOF), DNMT3B/ZBTB24, and WAS mutations. Results A total of 137 patients with monogenic syndromic CIDs were included. Most commonly mutated genes were the ATM [80 (58.4%)] and STAT3 (AD-LOF) [19 (13.9%)], followed by DNMT3B [11 (8%)], and WAS [11 (8%)]. More than 18% of all patients with syndromic CIDs, including most DNMT3B/ZBTB24 mutations patients, were clinically diagnosed with antibody deficiencies before genetic evaluation. Patients with ATM and WAS mutations had the latest age of onset and the lowest age of diagnosis, respectively. Autoimmune disorders were diagnosed in 24 patients at a median age of 3.5 (2.6-6.0) years, 70.6% of which were diagnosed prior to the diagnosis of immunodeficiency. Lymphoproliferation, particularly hepatosplenomegaly, was significantly higher in patients with autoimmunity (p=0.004). Syndromic CID patients with autoimmunity had significantly lower IgG levels. Hematologic autoimmunity mainly immune thrombocytopenic purpura was the most frequent autoimmunity among major groups of ATM, STAT3 (AD-LOF), DNMT3B/ZBTB24, and WAS mutations, however ATM-mutated patients present more diversified involved organs including rheumatologic, gastrointestinal and dermatologic autoimmunity. Conclusion About 18% of patients with monogenic syndromic CIDs developed autoimmunity, mainly in the form of hematological immune diseases. Autoimmunity could be an early-onset involvement with a potential diagnostic impact on suspicious cases of syndromic CIDs.

Abstract
The oral mucosa is a mechanical barrier against the penetration and colonization of microorganisms. Oral homeostasis is maintained by congenital and adaptive systems in conjunction with normal oral flora and an intact oral mucosa. Components contributing to the defense of the oral cavity include the salivary glands, innate antimicrobial proteins of saliva, plasma proteins, circulating white blood cells, keratinocyte products of the oral mucosa, and gingival crevicular fluid. General disturbances in the level of immunoglobulins in the human body may be manifested as pathological lesions in the oral mucosa. Symptoms of immunoglobulin-related general diseases such as mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP), pemphigus vulgaris (PV), linear IgA bullous dermatosis (LABD), Epidermolysis Bullosa Aquisita (EBA), and Hyper-IgE syndrome (HIES) may appear in the oral cavity. In this review, authors present selected diseases associated with immunoglobulins in which the lesions appear in the oral cavity. Early detection and treatment of autoimmune diseases, sometimes showing a severe evolution (e.g., PV), allow the control of their dissemination and involvement of skin or other body organs. Immunoglobulin disorders with oral manifestations are not common, but knowledge, differentiation and diagnosis are essential for proper treatment.

Abstract
Autosomal recessive hyper-IgE syndrome caused by DOCK8 gene mutation is an immunodeficiency. However, the presentation of a tumour-like lesion of the lip in autosomal recessive hyper-IgE syndrome has not yet been reported. This article reports the case of a 20-year-old man with autosomal recessive hyper-IgE syndrome who presented with a tumour-like lesion of the lip, and hyperplasia and erosion of the gingiva. The clinical manifestations included coarse face and neck skin, a diffuse tumour-like lesion on the upper lip showing a reddish erosive nodular surface with yellowish-white exudation, erosive buccal mucosa, and severe periodontitis. The swollen gingival and palatal mucosa indicated nodular hyperplasia and redness with pseudomembrane. The patient had a significantly increased peripheral blood eosinophil count and serum IgE level and an abnormal T lymphocyte count. His oral lesions improved markedly after prednisolone acetate use and local symptomatic treatment for 2 years. However, the patient unfortunately died of a cerebral infection 6 months after the oral lesions had resolved. The novel features of the labial tumour-like lesion described here extend our understanding of the manifestations of autosomal recessive hyper-IgE syndrome.

Abstract
Job syndrome or hyper-immunoglobulin E syndrome is one of the rare immunologic diseases with only about 300 cases described in the literature until now. Given their low prevalence, our understanding of both autosomal dominant and recessive Job syndromes is still evolving. No specific treatment options are available but early diagnosis may help in treating cases prophylactically with antibiotics and wound care to reduce the patient’s burden. We recently encountered a patient diagnosed with Job syndrome with autism who presented with an abscess in the right axillary region. We report this case for its rarity and unique association with developmental neurologic disorder. It is crucial to review this rare syndrome to circumvent any diagnostic delay. Following the disease course and taking all the associations into account is also vital for the clinician’s understanding as well as implementing the treatment plan.

Abstract
A 23-year-old woman with autosomal dominant hyper-IgE syndrome complicated by recurrent pneumonia and sinusitis presented with 1 week of multiple painful oral ulcers unresponsive to empiric antiviral and antifungal treatment. Her ulcers progressively worsened and she required hospitalisation for intravenous hydration and pain control. PCR swab of an ulcer was positive for varicella-zoster virus. Her symptoms never fully resolved despite antiviral therapy, and within 2 weeks, she relapsed with new and worsening ulcers. Biopsy revealed chronic active inflammation with no evidence of viral inclusion bodies or fungal hyphae. She was diagnosed with recurrent aphthous stomatitis and referred to a local dentist for CO2 laser treatments with rapid resolution of her symptoms. This case highlights the broad differential for recurrent oral ulcers in people with a primary immunodeficiency. It also raises awareness of the benefits of laser therapy for aphthous stomatitis treatment and the importance of partnering with our colleagues in dentistry.

Abstract
BACKGROUND STAT3 hyper-IgE syndrome (STAT3-HIES) is a rare primary immunodeficiency that clinically overlaps with atopic dermatitis. In addition to eczema, elevated serum-IgE, and recurrent infections, STAT3-HIES patients suffer from characteristic facies, midline defects, and retained primary teeth. To optimize dental management we assessed the development of dentition and the long-term outcomes of dental treatment in 13 molecularly defined STAT3-HIES patients using questionnaires, radiographs, and dental investigations. RESULTS Primary tooth eruption was unremarkable in all STAT3-HIES patients evaluated. Primary tooth exfoliation and permanent tooth eruption was delayed in 83% of patients due to unresorbed tooth roots. A complex orthodontic treatment was needed for one patient receiving delayed extraction of primary molars and canines. Permanent teeth erupted spontaneously in all patients receiving primary teeth extraction of retained primary teeth during average physiologic exfoliation time. CONCLUSIONS The association of STAT3-HIES with retained primary teeth is important knowledge for dentists and physicians as timely extraction of retained primary teeth prevents dental complications. To enable spontaneous eruption of permanent teeth in children with STAT3-HIES, we recommend extracting retained primary incisors when the patient is not older than 9 years of age and retained primary canines and molars when the patient is not older than 13 years of age, after having confirmed the presence of the permanent successor teeth by radiograph.

Abstract
The hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) is a rare multi-system disease with non-immunological as well as immunological abnormalities. The syndrome is characterized by a triad of the most distinctive symptoms, such as pneumonia with pneumatocele formation, recurring staphylococcal skin abscesses and a high serum concentration of IgE. Central mediators of immune responses such as STAT1 and STAT3 affect immune responses and contribute to changes of the skin microbiome which subsequently can amplify the defective immune response against microbial and fungal pathogens. Reactions related to an environmental factor, such as sun-induced skin changes, in individuals during long-term medication therapy have also been reported. The dermatological symptoms, oral status and other health problems of a hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome paediatric patient are presented. HIES is of great importance to different professionals because sufferers require special preventive and therapeutic management from early infancy in order to avoid complications which can even prove to be life-saving for such patients.

Abstract
Hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome is a primary immunodeficiency state that is characterized by eczema, recurrent skin and lung infections, and markedly increased levels of IgE. Odontogenic infection can spread to vital and deep structures in such immunocompromised patients. We report a case of a 19-year-old man with hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome presenting deep neck space infection that had spread from periapical periodontitis of the lower molars. A computed tomography scan showed an area of bony destruction in the left mandible and abscess formation in the submandibular and submental spaces. The patient was successfully treated by cervical drainage, extraction of the causative teeth, and antibiotic therapy. The present case highlights the importance of adequate treatment of dental infections in immunocompromised patients. Key words:Hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome, odontogenic infection.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The transcription factors signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 1 and STAT3 fulfill fundamental functions in nonimmune and immune cells. The description and follow-up of patients with germline mutations that result in either loss-of-function or gain-of-function have contributed to our understanding of the pathophysiology of these regulators. Depending on the type of mutations, clinical symptoms are complex and can include infection susceptibility, immune dysregulation as well as characteristic nonimmune features. Areas covered: In this review, we provide an overview about mechanistic concepts, clinical manifestations, diagnostic process, and traditional as well as innovative treatment options aiming to help the clinical immunologist to better understand and manage these complex and rare diseases. Clinical and research papers were identified and summarized through PubMed Internet searches, and expert opinions are provided. Expert commentary: The last several years have seen an explosion in the clinical descriptions and pathogenesis knowledge of the diseases caused by GOF and LOF mutations in STAT1 and STAT3. However, harmonization of laboratory testing and follow-up in international cohorts is needed to increase our knowledge about the natural history of these disorders as well as the development of curative or supportive targeted therapies.

Abstract
Hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) is a rare heterogeneous primary immunodeficiency disorder characterized by infections of the lung and skin, elevated serum immunoglobulin E, and involvement of soft and bony tissues. Autosomal dominant HIES and related disorders are caused by defects in the Janus activated kinase-signal transducer and activator of transcription signaling pathway, leading to reduced numbers of T helper cell type 17 and impaired production of interleukin (IL)-17 A, IL-17 F, and IL-22. In addition, neutrophils have chemotactic defects, resulting in impaired responses at skin and lung sites. We report here a case of orofacial granulomatosis-like disease in a teenage boy ultimately found to have autosomal dominant HIES caused by a heterozygous mutation in the STAT3 gene.

Abstract
Autoantibodies of the IgG subclass are pathogenic in a number of autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythomatosus. The presence of circulating IgE autoantibodies in autoimmune patients has also been known for almost 40 years. Despite their role in allergies, IgE autoantibodies are not associated with a higher rate of atopy in these patients. However, recently they have been recognized as active drivers of autoimmunity through mechanisms involving the secretion of Type I interferons by plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC), the recruitment of basophils to lymph nodes, and the activation of adaptive immune responses through B and T cells. Here, we will review the formation, prevalence, affinity, and roles of the IgE autoantibodies that have been described in autoimmunity. We also present novel evidence supporting that triggering of IgE receptors in pDC induces LC3-associated phagocytosis, a cellular process also known as LAP that is associated with interferon responses. The activation of pDC with immune complexes formed by DNA-specific IgE antibodies also induce potent B-cell differentiation and plasma cell formation, which further define IgE's role in autoimmune humoral responses.

Abstract
The list of immunodeficiency diseases grows each year as novel disorders are discovered, classified, and sometimes reclassified due to our ever-increasing knowledge of immune system function. Although the number of patients with secondary immunodeficiencies (SIDs) greatly exceeds those with primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs), the prevalence of both appears to be on the rise probably because of scientific breakthroughs that facilitate earlier and more accurate diagnosis. Primary immunodeficiencies in adults are not as rare as once thought. Globally, the main causes of secondary immunodeficiency are HIV infection and nutritional insufficiencies. Persons with acquired immune disorders such as AIDS caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are now living long and fulfilling lives as a result of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Irrespective of whether the patient's immune-deficient state is a consequence of a genetic defect or is secondary in nature, dental and medical practitioners must be aware of the constant potential for infections and/or expressions of autoimmunity in these individuals. The purpose of this review was to study the most common conditions resulting from primary and secondary immunodeficiency states, how they are classified, and the detrimental manifestations of these disorders on the periodontal and oral tissues.

Abstract
Allogeneic stem cell transplantation is associated with a high risk of treatment-related mortality mainly caused by infections and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). GVHD is characterized by severe immune dysregulation and impaired regeneration of different tissues, i.e., epithelial barriers and the liver. The balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine influences the risk of GVHD. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine that previously has been associated with pro-inflammatory effects. However, more recent evidence from various autoimmune diseases (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis) has shown that the IL-6 activity is more complex with important effects also on tissue homeostasis, regeneration, and metabolism. This review summarizes the current understanding of how pro-inflammatory IL-6 effects exerted during the peritransplant period shapes T-cell polarization with enhancement of Th17 differentiation and suppression of regulatory T cells, and in addition we also review and discuss the results from trials exploring non-selective IL-6 inhibition in prophylaxis and treatment of GVHD. Emerging evidence suggests that the molecular strategy for targeting of IL-6-initiated intracellular signaling is important for the effect on GVHD. It will therefore be important to further characterize the role of IL-6 in the pathogenesis of GVHD to clarify whether combined IL-6 inhibition of both trans- (i.e., binding of the soluble IL-6/IL-6 receptor complex to cell surface gp130) and cis-signaling (i.e., IL-6 ligation of the IL-6 receptor/gp130 complex) or selective inhibition of trans-signaling should be tried in the prophylaxis and/or treatment of GVHD in allotransplant patients.

Abstract
Research on oral fungi has centered on Candida. However, recent internal transcribed spacer (ITS)-based studies revealed a vast number of fungal taxa as potential oral residents. We review DNA-based studies of the oral mycobiome and contrast them with cultivation-based surveys, showing that most genera encountered by cultivation have also been detected molecularly. Some taxa such as Malassezia, however, appear in high prevalence and abundance in molecular studies but have not been cultivated. Important technical and bioinformatic challenges to ITS-based oral mycobiome studies are discussed. These include optimization of sample lysis, variability in length of ITS amplicons, high intra-species ITS sequence variability, high inter-species variability in ITS copy number and challenges in nomenclature and maintenance of curated reference databases. Molecular surveys are powerful first steps to characterize the oral mycobiome but further research is needed to unravel which fungi detected by DNA are true oral residents and what role they play in oral homeostasis.

Abstract
The transcriptional regulator STAT3 has key roles in vertebrate development and mature tissue function including control of inflammation and immunity. Mutations in human STAT3 associate with diseases such as immunodeficiency, autoimmunity and cancer. Strikingly, however, either hyperactivation or inactivation of STAT3 results in human disease, indicating tightly regulated STAT3 function is central to health. Here, we attempt to summarize information on the numerous and distinct biological actions of STAT3, and highlight recent discoveries, with a specific focus on STAT3 function in the immune and hematopoietic systems. Our goal is to spur investigation on mechanisms by which aberrant STAT3 function drives human disease and novel approaches that might be used to modulate disease outcome.

Abstract
Elevated serum IgE has many etiologies including parasitic infection, allergy and asthma, malignancy, and immune dysregulation. The hyper-IgE syndromes caused by mutations in STAT3, DOCK8, and PGM3 are monogenic primary immunodeficiencies associated with high IgE, eczema, and recurrent infections. These primary immunodeficiencies are associated with recurrent pneumonias leading to bronchiectasis; however, each has unique features and genetic diagnosis is essential in guiding therapy, discussing family planning, and defining prognosis. This article discusses the clinical features of these primary immunodeficiencies with a particular focus on the pulmonary manifestations and discussion of the genetics, pathogenesis, and approaches to therapy.

Abstract
Increased serum eosinophil levels have been associated with multiple disorders of immune deficiency or immune dysregulation. Although primary immunodeficiency diseases are rare, it is important to consider these in the differential diagnosis of patients with eosinophilia. In this review, the clinical features, laboratory findings, diagnosis, and genetic basis of disease of several disorders of immune deficiency or dysregulation are discussed. The article includes autosomal dominant hyper IgE syndrome, DOCK8 deficiency, phosphoglucomutase 3 deficiency, ADA-SCID, Omenn syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome, immunodysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked syndrome, Comel-Netherton syndrome, and severe dermatitis, multiple allergies, and metabolic wasting syndrome.

Abstract
Background. Hyper IgE is a rare systemic disease characterized by the clinical triad of high serum levels of IgE (>2000 IU/mL), eczema, and recurrent staphylococcal skin and lung infections. The presentation of hyper IgE syndrome is highly variable, which makes it easy to confuse the diagnosis with that of severe atopy or other rare immunodeficiency disorders. Case Report. A 23-year-old Hispanic presented with history of frequent respiratory and gastrointestinal infections as a child and multiple episodes of skin and lung infections (abscess) with Staphylococcus aureus throughout his adult life. He had multiple eczematous lesions and folliculitis over his entire body, oral/esophageal candidiasis, and retention of his primary teeth. The IgE was elevated (>5000 IU/mL). Genetic mutation analysis revealed a mutation affecting the transactivation domain of the STAT3 gene. Conclusion. The hallmark of hyper IgE syndrome is serum IgE of >2000 IU/mL. Hyper IgE syndrome is a genetic disorder that is either autosomal dominant or recessive. A definite diagnosis can be made with genetic mutation analysis, and in this case, it revealed a very rare finding of the transactivation domain STAT3 mutation. Hyper IgE syndrome is a challenge for clinicians in establishing a diagnosis in suspected cases.

Abstract
: Hyper-IgE syndrome is a primary immunodeficiency marked by abnormalities in the coordination of cell-cell signaling with the potential to affect TH17 cell, B cell, and neutrophil responses. Clinical manifestations include recurrent skin and lung infections, serum IgE elevation, connective tissue repair and development alterations, and the propensity for vascular abnormalities and tumor development. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling, dedicator of cytokinesis 8 (DOCK8) signaling, and tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) signaling alterations have been implicated in 3 forms of hyper-IgE syndrome.

Abstract
Job's syndrome also known as hyper-IgE syndrome is a rare disorder associated with immunodeficiency. It includes recurrent abscesses of staphylococcal origin affecting skin and musculoskeletal system, recurring pneumonia and pneumatoceles, eosinophilia, craniofacial, and bone growth changes. This case report describes the disease and anesthetic management. Ten-year-old male child weighing 18 kg was diagnosed recently as Job's syndrome and was posted for abscess drainage over chest, back, upper, and lower limb. He had associated severe mental retardation. The choice of anesthetic technique was based on multiple surgical sites and associated mental retardation. Due to associated mental retardation child was sedated under our vigilance with syrup midazolam 9 mg orally and EMLA cream applied with occlusive dressing 30 min prior to shifting to OT. Upon arrival to the OT, pulse oximetry, noninvasive blood pressure, Electrocardiogram, temperature probe, cardioscope were attached. Inhalation induction done with sevoflurane and IV line secured with 22G cannula. Glycopyrolate 0.1 mg + fentanyl 30 mcg + Propofol 30 mg given intravenously. General anesthesia was maintained with bag and mask ventilation with oxygen + nitrous oxide + sevoflurane with spontaneous ventilation. Postoperative period was uneventful. This case is presented in view of rarity of its occurrence and frequency of repeated surgical intervention and anesthesia. Associated mental retardation in this case could be an isolated incident or could be an occurrence related to underlying disease process itself.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Job's syndrome (JS), one of the presentations of the Hyper IgE Syndrome, is a rare immunodeficiency. It includes cutaneous abscesses, recurring pneumonias, pneumatoceles, eosinophilia, hyperimmunoglobulinemia E (> 2,000 IU.mL(-1)), and craniofacial and bone growth changes. This report describes the disease and its anesthetic management. CASE REPORT The patient is a 13 year old black male, 40 kg, ASA II, with Job's Syndrome diagnosed 6 months prior to this admission. The patient was admitted for elongation of the right femur. He denied use of drugs and prior surgeries; he presented good cervical mobility, interincisive distance greater than 3 cm, Mallampati II, without signs of infection. Preoperative exams were within normal limits. He was monitored with electrocardioscope, SpO(2), non-invasive blood pressure, and P(ET)CO(2). After pre-oxygenation, general anesthesia was induced and he was maintained with sevoflurane. At the end of the procedure, the patient was extubated after reversal of the neuromuscular blockade, and the patient was transferred to the PACU with Aldrete 9, He was discharged from the hospital 72 hours later, without complications. CONCLUSIONS The choice of anesthetic technique is guided by rigorous observation among risks and benefits for each patient, according to respiratory sequelae, risk of infection, and surgical site. In the patient described here, we considered that neuroaxis anesthesia could be associated with an increased risk of severe infections due to the patient immunologic background. The procedure was safely performed with general anesthesia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of acupuncture treatment for symptom management in patients with hyper-immunoglobulin E (IgE) syndrome (HIES). DESIGN This was a retrospective case series. SETTING/LOCATION The study was conducted at the The Clinical Research Center of the National Institutes of Health. SUBJECTS There were 8 adult patients with HIES ages 23-56 with varying symptoms in the study. INTERVENTION Acupuncture treatments were given from May 29, 2001 to February 17, 2009. OUTCOME MEASURES Acupuncture treatment efficacy was measured and evaluated using a 0-10 assessment instrument pre- and post-treatment. RESULTS The 8 patients with HIES suffered from a wide variety of symptoms related to the disease. Acupuncture treatments uniformly decreased the self-reported severity of symptoms. CONCLUSIONS This case series demonstrates that acupuncture is a clinically useful and safe therapy for symptom management in patients with HIES.

Abstract
The hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) is a multisystem disorder that affects the dentition, skeleton, connective tissues and immune system. Little is known about oral manifestations of the syndrome. The purpose of this report was to describe a 6-year-old boy with suspected autosomal recessive HIES syndrome who had multiple fused primary teeth, which is a rare association with JOB syndrome. The patient gave a history of pneumonia and skin infections. Recognition of such case at an early age is necessary to reduce morbidity. As conclusion, treatment for this condition is life long administration of therapeutic doses of penicillinase-resistant penicillin, with the addition of other antibiotics or antifungal agents as required for specific infections.

Abstract
Skin and teeth not only share several characteristics in their development but also have a similar ontogenetic origin from the ectoderm. Thus, numerous congenital diseases, such as genetic, infectious, inflammatory, and immune disorders affect both skin and teeth. Particularly skin diseases are often identified by the synopsis of systemic symptoms. The understanding and appreciation of dental abnormalities guides dermatologists in the diagnosis and identification of syndromes as well as in finding an optimal therapy.
