Abstract
Aims This research was designed to contrast the biocompatibility and remineralization ability of different sealers (BioRoot, MTA-FillApex and GuttaFlow-Bioseal). Method Twenty rabbits were used in this study, they were randomly divided into 4 groups equally depending on the observation time"3,7,14, and 28 days" post-implantation. Each rabbit was generally anesthetized,"7cm"long incision was made on the skin of the right and left sides of the ventral aspect of the mandible of each rabbit, 4 bony cavities of approximately"5mm"in depth and"2mm"in diameter (2 cavities on the left side and 2 cavities on the right side of mandible of each rabbit) were made in the cortical surface of the buccal alveolar bone. The sealers mixed depend on manufactural instructions and immediately insert into the prepared cavities (in the right side the BioRoot and MTA-FillApex were placed while on the left side, GuttaFlow-Bioseal was placed in one cavity and the other cavity was left unfilled as control).The same volume of each sealer was placed in the corresponding cavity using disposable syringes. After each observation period, the animals were sacrificed and bone biopsy from the tested area was taken and examined histologically using Olympus light microscopy at"400X"magnification. Results The obtained data were analyzed through non-parametric statistical tests using SPSS software version"22".Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann - Whitney test were utilized at"0.05"levels of significance to evaluate the results. GuttaFlow-Bioseal displayed excellent biocompatibility in comparison to other groups indicated by low inflammatory tissue reaction at all evaluation intervals. While the BioRoot group represented better osteo-conductivity although statistically not significant than GuttaFlow-Bioseal group. Conclusion BioRoot and GuttaFlow-Bioseal showed higher osteo-conductivity and biocompatibility than MTA-FillApex. However, all sealer used in this study were well tolerated by bone tissue and might accelerate bone repair.

Abstract
Introduction The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of heating of bioceramic and epoxy resin-based sealers on their micro-push-out bond strength (BS) to root canal dentin. Methods After criterial selection, 30 human teeth were decoronated and 1-mm thick slices (n = 60) were obtained perpendicularly along tooth axis, from cervical and middle root thirds, with a diamond disc attached to a cutting machine. In each slice, three 1.0-mm diameter orifices were made. After rinsing with 17% EDTA and 2.5% NaOCl, each orifice was filled with Bio-C Sealer or BioRoot RCS or AH Plus, according to the manufacturers' instructions. After filling, half of the slices (n = 30) were heated at 100°C for 1 min, and the other half were kept at room temperature. After 7 days-controlled storage, micro-push-out test was performed in a Universal Testing Machine. Failures were analyzed using a stereomicroscope. Statistical analysis was performed with One-Way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey (α = 5%) tests. Results AH Plus demonstrated higher BS values after heating (p=0.001) when compared to nonheated. The other sealers did not show a statistically significant difference (p > 0.05). When heated, the average BS values for AH Plus were higher than for BioRoot RCS and Bio-C Sealer (p < 0.001). Cohesive failure mode was the most frequent, followed by adhesive and mixed ones. Conclusion Heating provided a higher push-out BS to root dentin for AH Plus and did not influence BioRoot RCS or Bio-C sealer.

Abstract
The use of fluorescent dyes in microscopy studies is frequent. Therefore, it is important to investigate whether these compounds may alter the physicochemical properties of materials in which they are incorporated to avoid methodological biases. This study evaluated the physicochemical properties of two endodontic sealers containing dry or diluted rhodamine B. Six groups were evaluated: AH Plus and MTA Fillapex in their original composition and mixed with 0.1% dry or diluted rhodamine. Push-out test was applied to assess the bond strength to root dentin. ANSI-ADA No. 57 and ISO No. 6876:2012 specifications were followed to evaluate flowability, setting time, and solubility of the sealers. pH changes were assessed after 24 h, 7, and 30 days. Intergroup comparisons were analyzed by ANOVA complemented by Tukey's post-hoc test; comparisons among periods were analyzed by Wilcoxon and Friedman tests. The incorporation of dry rhodamine decreased the bond strength and prolonged the setting time of AH Plus. The incorporation of diluted rhodamine decreased the setting time and increased the flowability of MTA Fillapex. Diluted rhodamine promoted pH reduction of AH Plus after 24 h and dry rhodamine after 7 days. Rhodamine incorporation promoted pH reduction after 30 days for MTA Fillapex. Solubility was not affected. In conclusion, the incorporation of diluted rhodamine changed the properties of MTA Fillapex, and the incorporation of dry rhodamine changed the properties of AH Plus. Previous dilution of rhodamine did not severely compromise the physicochemical properties of AH Plus and may be suggested to assess its penetrability.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The study aims as a pilot study to evaluate the effect of different treatment regimen and different types of endodontic sealers on pain and periapical radiographic changes was studied.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty patients in need of an endodontic root canal treatment on anterior teeth were selected and divided into two groups (20 patients each), according to the endodontic treatment protocol (single or multiple visits). Then, each group was subdivided into two subgroups according to sealer used 10 each (AH Plus Jet resin sealer, Total Fill Bioceramic Sealer). To record pain intensity of the patients at different intervals: 1, 2, 3, 7 days, a visual analog scale was used. Furthermore, patients were recalled after 1, 3, 6, 9 months to evaluate periapical radiographic changes.
RESULTS: Showed that as regard pain assessment both tested endodontic sealers, as well as single or multiple visits have no statistically significant difference between pain values of patients during all the observation period from immediately post-operative, after 4, 12, 24, 48, 72 h as well as after 7 days (p > 0.05). As regard lamina dura thickness, results showed that with both tested endodontic sealers as well as single or multiple visits, there was no statistically significant difference between lamina dura thickness of patients after 1 month, 3, 6 as well as after 9 months.
CONCLUSIONS: Neither number of visits of endodontic treatment nor type of sealer used for obturation affects post-operative pain and thickness of lamina dura.

Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated whether epoxy resin-based root canal sealers present an increased solubility than calcium silicate-based root canal sealers. A systematic search was performed in the following databases: PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science and Open Grey. The inclusion criteria consisted of in vitro studies that compared the solubility of epoxy resin-based and calcium silicate-based sealers. The quality assessment and data extraction of the selected articles were performed. The meta-analysis of the pooled data and the subgroups according to the root thirds were carried out using the RevMan software (P < 0.05). After the duplicate removal and eligibility criteria assessment, a total of 22 studies were included all of them were considered as having a low risk of bias. The meta-analysis demonstrated overall lower solubility of AH Plus. AH Plus presented lower solubility than Bio-C Sealer, BioRoot RCS, MTA Fillapex, Sealer Plus and Total Fill BC Sealer.

Abstract
Aim: This study evaluated the effect of four intracanal medications commonly used in regenerative endodontic procedures on the bond strength of four calcium silicate-based materials, in which two are powder-to-liquid products (MTA and MTA-HP) and the other are ready-to-use materials (EndoSequence Root Repair Material Fast Set Putty [ERRM] and Bioceramic Repair [BIO-C Repair]). Methods: Ten bovine central incisors were selected and 4 slices (1.0 ± 0.1 mm) were prepared from each root. Next, four 0.8-mm wide holes were drilled in each slice and specimens were filled with one of the following intracanal medications: triple antibiotic paste, double antibiotic paste, calcium hydroxide with distilled water, and calcium hydroxide with 2% chlorhexidine gel. After 21 days, holes were filled with one of the materials: MTA, MTA-HP, ERRM, or BIO-C Repair. After storage, push-out test and failure analysis were performed. Data were submitted to analysis of variance in a 4 × 4 factorial scheme. Tukey's test was used for multiple comparisons. Results: The use of different interappointment dressings did not influence the results (P > 0.05). ERRM and BIO-C Repair presented significantly higher values than MTA and MTA-HP (P < 0.0001). Specimens showed a 100% occurrence of adhesive failures. Conclusion: The use of different intracanal medications presented similar impact on bond strength of calcium silicate-based materials. Ready-to-use ERRM and BIO-C Repair materials presented the best push-out values to dentine, whereas powder-to-liquid MTA and MTA-HP cements showed the lowest results.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ultrasonic activation (UA) of endodontic sealers on dentin tubule penetration and the bond strength to root dentin. METHOD One hundred single-rooted teeth were prepared with 40.06 nickel-titanium instruments and divided into 2 groups: with or without UA. Three resin-based sealers (MTA Fillapex [Angelus Dental Solutions, Londrina, PR, Brazil], Sealer Plus [MK Life Medical and Dental Products, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil], and AH Plus [Dentsply, DeTrey GmbH, Konstanz, Germany]; n = 20) and 2 calcium silicate-based sealers (Sealer Plus BC [MK Life Medical and Dental Products] and EndoSequence BC [Brasseler, Savannah, GA], n = 20) were used and subdivided (n = 10) according to the protocols. Fluo-3 (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waltham, MA) and rhodamine B dyes were added to the calcium silicate- and resin-based sealers, respectively. In the UA groups, the activation was performed for 40 seconds followed by lateral compaction. Samples were transversely sectioned to evaluate the dentin tubule penetration and the bond strength to root dentin. The penetration data were analyzed with the Student t test, 1-factor analysis of variance, and Bonferroni tests. Bond strength was evaluated using the Student t test, Kruskal-Wallis, and Dunn post hoc test. RESULTS Resin-based sealers showed the highest tubule penetration without UA (P < .05). UA significantly enhanced MTA Fillapex and Endosequence BC dentin tubule penetration (P < .05). AH Plus and Sealer Plus BC improved their bond strength to root dentin after UA (P < .05). AH Plus/UA, Sealer Plus/UA, and Sealer Plus BC/UA presented the highest bond strength values (P < .05). Adhesive failures were predominant in all groups regardless of the use of ultrasound. CONCLUSIONS UA interferes with tubule penetration and the bond strength to root dentin of resin- and calcium silicate-based sealers.

Abstract
This study correlated the bond strength (BS) and dentin penetration of different sealers by push-out test and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) analysis. Forty-five root canals were prepared according to the crown-down technique and filled with gutta-percha associated to the following sealers (n=15): Endofill, AH Plus and MTA Fillapex. Five canals of each group were filled with the sealers added with 0.1% Rhodamine B dye. Next, the specimens were transversely sectioned and submitted to the push-out test (n=10) and CLSM analysis (n=5). The BS data showed the following means (MPa) and standard deviation: AH Plus (4.17±1.86); MTA Fillapex (3.13±1.96) and Endofill (2.10±1.03). Statistical analysis (two-way ANOVA, α=0.05) showed significant difference among sealers (p<0.001) and root canal thirds (p<0.001). The BS results of Endofill and MTA Fillapex were statistically similar (p>0.05), however, they were statistically different from AH Plus (p<0.001). The regional analysis of BS showed similarity between middle and apical thirds (p>0.05), and both were different from coronal portion (p<0.001). CLSM analysis verified tags formation in all groups and higher penetration of the specimens filled with AH Plus (p<0.05). The Kendall test (correlation between BS to dentin and sealer penetration into dentinal tubules) and the Pearson test (between failures pattern and sealer penetration into dentinal tubules) did not show correlation between the variables evaluated for all the tested sealers (p>0.05). AH Plus group had higher BS to dentin, and deeper tags formation than the other sealers. There was no significant correlation between BS and intratubular penetration of the tested sealers.

Abstract
Background The purpose of this experiment was to assess the push out bond strength of Polydimethylsiloxane sealers (GuttaFlow 2 and GuttaFlow Bioseal by Colte’ne/Whaledent, Altstätten, Switzerland). AH Plus (Dentsply, DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany) was used as a reference material for comparison. Methods Thirty root slices were prepared from the middle third of 10 mandibular premolars. Each slice was 1 ± 0.1 mm thick. Three holes, 0.8 mm wide each, were drilled on the axial side of each root slice. These holes were subjected to standardized irrigations and then dried using paper points. Finally, for each root slice, each hole was filled with exactly one of the following three root canal sealers: AH Plus, GuttaFlow 2 and GuttaFlow Bioseal. After all the holes were filled in that way, the root slices were stored on top of phosphate-buffered saline solution (pH 7.2) soaked gauze for 7 days at the temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. Then, for each root canal sealer on a root slice, the universal testing machine was used to measure the push out bond strength. The differences in push out bond strengths between the three sealer samples were assessed using the Friedman test, while the paired comparisons were assessed using Wilcoxon signed rank test with Bonferroni correction. All statistical tests were two-tailed and the significance level was set at the 5%. Results According to the Friedman test the distributions of push out bond strengths of AH Plus, GuttaFlow 2 and GuttaFlow Bioseal were different (P < 0.05). Paired comparisons indicated that AH Plus had a significantly superior push out bond strength than GuttaFlow 2 and GuttaFlow Bioseal, while the push out bond strength of GuttaFlow Bioseal was significantly stronger than that of GuttaFlow 2 (P < 0.01). Conclusions Based on these findings, AH Plus is a better root canal sealer than GuttaFlow 2 and GuttaFlow Bioseal.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate physical properties of endodontic sealers (AH Plus, MTA Fillapex and Endofill), by conventional and micro-CT tests. Dimensional stability was evaluated after immersion of materials in distilled water for 30 days. Solubility and volumetric change were evaluated after 7 and 30 days of immersion in distilled water. Solubility was evaluated by means of mass loss and volumetric change was assessed by micro-CT. Porosity was evaluated under a microscope after 7 days of immersion in distilled water, and by using micro-CT after setting and immersion in distilled water for 7 and 30 days. Statistical analysis was performed by ANOVA and Tukey's test with 5% significance level. MTA Fillapex presented the highest solubility (p<0.05), showing values above the ISO/ADA recommendations. MTA Fillapex presented higher volumetric and dimensional changes, followed by Endofill and AH Plus (p<0.05). Dimensional stability of the MTA Fillapex and AH Plus did not follow ISO/ADA standards. The highest total porosity was observed for MTA Fillapex (p<0.05). Endofill had higher total porosity than AH Plus according to microscope evaluation (p<0,05), and both sealers were similar in micro-CT assessment (p>0,05). In conclusion, MTA Fillapex presented higher solubility, dimensional and volumetric change besides porosity compared to the other evaluated sealers. The assessed physical properties of sealers are related, and the different tests provided complementary data. Micro-CT is a valuable method for assessment of physical properties of endodontic materials.
