Abstract
The new title Schiff base compound, C11H15BrN2O2, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21 with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. It was prepared by the condensation reaction of 5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and aminoethylethanolamine. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond with an S(6) ring motif. Moreover, there are intermolecular C—H...N, C—H...O and Br...O interactions in the crystal structure of the title compound.

Abstract
The packing of the title compound features weak C—H⋯O and C—H⋯π interactions. In the title compound, C22H20O3, the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings linked by the methine group is 81.265 (4)° and the ethoxy side chain adopts an extended conformation [C—O—C—C = 177.24 (10)°]. In the crystal, weak C—H⋯π and C—H⋯O interactions link the molecules into sheets.![]()

Abstract
New chitosan Schiff base (3EtO-4OH/Chit) and its 3EtO-4OH/Chit/Fe2O3 nanocomposite were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, XRD, TGA, DSC and SEM. The result confirmed the preparation of 3EtO-4OH/Chit and its 3EtO-4OH/Chit/Fe2O3 nanocomposite. The efficiency of the prepared catalysts was studied for the methyl orange (MO) removal from aqueous solution. The effect of adsorbent dose and contact time on the removal of dye has been studied. Their antibacterial activities were considered against two Gram positive (S. aureus and B. cereus) and two Gram negative (E. coli and P. aeruginosa) bacteria and the results showed that the activity of the 3EtO-4OH/Chit/Fe2O3 is excellent and is more than chitosan and 3EtO-4OH/Chit. Thermogravimetry studies shows that the weight loss stages and the residual value at 600 °C are different for the two compounds. DSC curve of the title compounds 3EtO-4OH/Chit and 3EtO-4OH/Chit/Fe2O3 is different from each other. The reason for this difference could be due to the presence of iron oxide nanoparticles in 3EtO-4OH/Chit/Fe2O3.

Abstract
A new flexible bis-bidentate N2S2 Schiff base ligand (2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte = N,Nʹ-bis-(2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde)-1,2-di(o-iminophenylthio)ethane and its copper(I) coordination polymer [Cu2(μ-I)2(μ-(2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte)]n, were synthesized and characterized by CHN elemental analysis, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The molecule of (2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte adopts a trans conformation of the 1,2-di(o-iminophenylthio)ethane unit. The (2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte acts as a bis-bidentate ligand with two iminic nitrogen and two sulfur atoms, coordinating to copper(I) ions in an anti-form leading to the dinuclear Cu2(μ-(2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte) groups. These groups are then bridged by two iodide anions to form a copper(I) coordination polymer [Cu2(μ-I)2(μ-(2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte)]n. The coordination geometry around the copper(I) ions is a distorted tetrahedron. Finally, a nano-sized form of the copper(I) coordination polymer [Cu2(μ-I)2(μ-(2,4-Cl-ba)2dapte)]n was prepared by an ultrasonic bath assisted process and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and SEM.

Abstract
The crystal structures of two Schiff base compounds, 2,6-dichlorobenzylidene-2,4-dichloroaniline (1) and 2,4-dichlorobenzylidene-2,4-dichloroaniline (2) have been determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction and characterized by FT-IR and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. The electronic structures of compounds 1 and 2 in the gas phase were computed by the density functional theory (DFT) method. The obtained theoretical results were supported by the crystallographic data. In addition, theoretical configurations of the title compounds were relaxed and studied in terms of the combined analysis of HOMO-LUMO energy gap, total density of states (DOS), molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), NMR spectra and harmonic vibrational frequencies.

Abstract
In this study isolation and structural elucidation of a homoisoflavonoid, 3-(3',4'-dihydroxybenzyl)-8-hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxychroman-4-one (Scillapersicone 1), is reported from Scilla persica HAUSSKN. The structure was solved by a single crystal X-ray analysis. The unit cell parameters are a=11.7676 (2)Å, b=20.1174 (4)Å, c=7.8645 (9)Å, β=93.544 (2)°, V=1858.23 (7)Å(3), monoclinic space group P21/c and four symmetry equivalent molecules in an unit cell. The structure was consistent with the UV, IR, 1D and 2D NMR, HRFAB-MS data. The optimized molecular geometry agrees closely that obtained from the single crystal X-ray crystallography. Furthermore, cytotoxicity of this compound was evaluated by MTT assay on AGS and WEHI-164 cancerous cell lines.

In the title compound, C15H15NO2, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 52.04 (5)° and the molecule has an E conformation about the central C=N bond. In the crystal, molecules are connected by O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains along the b axis. The crystal packing also features weak C—H⋯O interactions.
