Abstract
In this research work, we aim to study the effect of the incorporation of vegetable fiber reinforcement on the thermo-mechanical and dynamic properties of a composite formed by a polymeric matrix reinforced with cellulosic fibers with the various Washingtonia fiber (WF) loadings (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% by wt%) as reinforced material in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) Biocomposites to evaluate the optimum fiber loading of biocomposites. In addition, several characterization techniques (i.e., thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and thermal mechanical analysis (TMA)) were used to better understand the characteristics of the new composites prepared. With these techniques, we managed to verify the rigidity and thermal stability of the composites so elaborated, as well as the success of the polymer and the structural homogeneity of the obtained biocomposites. Hence, the biocomposite with the best ratio (HDPE/20WF) showed a loss modulus (E″) of 224 MPa, a storage modulus (E') of 2079 MPa, and a damping factor (Tanδ) of 0.270 to the glass transition (Tg) of 145 °C. In addition, thermomechanical analysis (TMA) of the biocomposite samples exhibited marginally higher Ts compared to the HDPE matrix. The best results were recorded with biocomposites with 20% WF, which showed better thermal properties. This composite material can be used as insulation in construction materials (buildings, false ceilings, walls, etc.).

Abstract
ABSTRACTThis study aims to evaluate the effect of body condition score (BCS) on hormonal profiles and to reveal their influence on the blood metabolites in Ouled Djellal ewes during the mating period. The experiment was conducted on thirty, clinically healthy and non-pregnant, Ouled Djellal ewes which have been kept into two groups according to their body condition score (Group I: BCS < 2.50 units; n = 13, Group II: BCS > 2.50 units; n = 17). In both groups, oestrus was synchronized using hormonal patterns then the ewes were left to be naturally inseminated. Blood samples were collected at the time of the sponge removal. Plasma concentrations of glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, total protein, albumin, creatinine, urea, triiodothyronine, thyroxine and Progesterone were recorded. The plasma level of triglycerides and thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) increase significantly (P < 0.01) in group II. Progesterone concentrations were similar (P ≥ 0.05) in both groups at mating period, although we recorded higher rate in group I. Therefore, we conclude that body condition score has a significant impact on some hormone profiles and blood parameters during the mating period.

Abstract
Platinum (Pt) and platinum–nickel (Pt–Ni) electrocatalysts were prepared on activated graphite electrodes by an electrochemical deposition process. The electrocatalysts were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrocatalytic activity of the prepared electrocatalysts, their stability, and the effect of temperature toward ethanol and 2-propanol oxidation were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed that the Pt–Ni/C exhibited higher catalytic activity, better stability and better tolerance to poisoning by ethanol and 2-propanol oxidation intermediate species compared to Pt/C, which was interpreted as synergistic and electronic effects between Pt and Ni. A study of the temperature dependence of ethanol and 2-propanol oxidation in the temperature range of 298–318 K, shows that the apparent activation energy for ethanol and 2-propanol oxidation on Pt–Ni/C was lower than on Pt/C. The results also revealed that the electro-oxidation of ethanol and 2-propanol on Pt/C were improved by raising the temperature and Ni modification. Platinum (Pt) and platinum–nickel (Pt–Ni) electrocatalysts were prepared on activated graphite electrodes by an electrochemical deposition process.![]()

Abstract
Nowadays, the speech recognition applications can be found in several activities, and their existence as a field of study and research lasts for a long time. Although, many studies deal with different problems, in security-related areas, biometric identification, access to the Smartphone… Etc. In automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems, hidden Markov models (HMMs) have widely used for modeling the temporal speech signal. In order to optimize HMM parameters (i.e., observation and transition probabilities), iterative algorithms commonly used such as Forward-Backward or Baum-Welch. In this article, we propose to use the bacterial foraging optimization algorithm (BFOA) to enhance HMM with Gaussian mixture densities. As a global optimization algorithm of current interest, BFOA has proven itself for distributed optimization and control. Our experimental results show that the proposed approach yields a significant improvement of the transcription accuracy at signal/noise ratios greater than 15 dB.

Abstract
Phosphodiesterase 11 (PDE11) is the latest isoform of the phosphodiesterase family to be identified. Interest in PDE11 has increased recently because tadalafil, an oral phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor, cross reacts with PDE11. The function of PDE11 remains largely unknown, but growing evidence points to a possible role in male reproduction. The published literature on PDE11 structure, function and expression is reviewed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare different predictors of ovarian reserve. DESIGN Prospective study. SETTING The Assisted Conception Unit, University College London Hospitals. PATIENT(S) One hundred seventy-seven patients undergoing IVF treatment. INTERVENTION(S) Blood samples were collected on cycle day 2 to determine basal levels of FSH and 17beta-E2 and the FSH/LH ratio, and on cycle days 3 and 4 to assess the increase in FSH (deltaFSH) and 17beta-E2 (deltaE2) after the commencement of GnRH analogue (GnRH-a) stimulation. Ultrasound scans were performed during ovarian stimulation to assess the number of follicles. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S) Day 2 FSH and 17beta-E2 levels, the FSH/LH ratio, and the deltaFSH and deltaE2 after the commencement of GnRH-a stimulation were correlated with the number of follicles obtained after ovarian stimulation. RESULT(S) All the possible predictors considered, except for the day 2 E2 level and the deltaFSH, correlated significantly with the ovarian response. The best single correlation was between the number of follicles and the deltaE2 (GnRH-a test). When the FSH level was evaluated simultaneously, the correlation was strengthened, resulting in a better negative predictive value. CONCLUSION(S) Simultaneous evaluation of basal levels of FSH and of the response of E2 to GnRH-a stimulation seems to be the best marker of ovarian reserve and a sensitive predictor of response to ovarian stimulation in patients undergoing IVF treatment.

Abstract
Uniplant is a single contraceptive implant intended for one year use. It contains the progestogen nomegestrol acetate. The clinical performance and the effect of its use during the first postpartum year on breastfeeding performance and growth and health of the infants were studied and compared to the findings in a parallel group who used an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) in a prospective, non-randomized study. This was carried out in Assiut, Egypt. Two-hundred-forty fully breastfeeding mothers asking for initiation of contraception early postpartum were assigned according to their choices into either nomegestrol subdermal contraceptive implant (Uniplant) (120 women) or intrauterine contraceptive device (CuT 380A) (120 women). The mother and infant pairs were followed up at monthly intervals during the first three months and at two-month intervals thereafter up until the first birthday of the baby. No pregnancy occurred in the two groups. Amenorrhea was significantly more prolonged in the Uniplant group than in the IUD group. There were no significant differences in net continuation rates between the two groups (88.3 versus 92.4 per 100 women, respectively). There were no significant differences between the two groups in the number of breastfeeding episodes, time of weaning, and the cumulative rates of full and partial breastfeeding. There were no significant differences between the two groups in infant weight, weight gain per day, or in infant linear growth. There were no significant differences in the incidence of important health problems affecting the infants of the two groups. However, there were seven infant deaths, six of them were in the Uniplant group. Uniplant subdermal contraceptive implants can be offered as a new contraceptive option suitable for nursing mothers.
