Psychometric properties of the Indonesia version religious health fatalism questionnaire in diabetic foot ulcer outpatients

Background:

Religious health fatalism belief that health outcome is only determined by God without seeking treatment. Tools are needed to measure fatalism among patients with chronic disease, especially diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) patients. The aim of this study was to conduct psychometric test of religious health fatalism questionnaire (RHFQ) including translation, validation, reliability, and cut-off point among DFU out-patients.

Design and methods:

This study employed cross sectional design, using self-report questionnaire. Data were collected from diabetes clinic in five hospitals, Indonesia. The inclusion criteria were patients who had history of DFU more than 2 years. Total sample in this study was 184 patients. This study was conducted from April to June 2021. Permission to use the RHFQ was permitted by the original author. We conducted translation and adaptation questionnaire to Bahasa. We employed reliability test with internal consistency, construct validity, and convergent validity. Construct validity was evaluated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Cut-off point RHS was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC). ROC was evaluated using correlation score between total score RHFQ and CDRISC-25 Indonesia version. Previous study mentioned that resilience is a predictor of religious. The Cronbach’s alpha for RHFQ Indonesia version was adequate.

Results:

EFA showed adequate with Kaiser–Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of 0.72 and the Bartlett’s test of sphericity was significant. According to ROC curve analysis, the cut-off point at a score 67.5 indicated the best sensitivity and specificity.

Conclusions:

RHFQ Indonesia version had reliability and validity for screening religious health fatalism among DFU outpatients.

Related Factors of a Nurse Handover Implementation in the Inpatient Ward of Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin

Introduction: Ideally, a handover is carried out through three stages: preparation, implementation, and post-handover. However, some handovers only consist of one phase. The aim of the study was to identify and analyze the factors related to the implementation of nurse handover.Methods: This was a correlative analytic research method with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was all of the nurses with at least a Diploma III inpatient ward education. The sample totaled 174 nurses in the inpatient ward of Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin, recruited through proportionate stratified random sampling. The data was collected by spreading the questionnaire and the data collection took place from December 2017 to January 2018.Results: There was a correlation between education level (p= 0.036) and role model (p= 0.021) with the implementation of handover. The most dominant factor associated with the implementation of handover was role model (p= 0.031: OR= 6.089).Conclusion: The nurses who had a good role model performed th handover 6.089 times better than the nurses with an inadequate role model. Adversely, a poor role model might result in a poor handover.

Relationship of Benzene Exposure to Trans, Trans-Muconic Acid and Blood Profile of Shoe Workers in Romokalisari Surabaya, Indonesia

BACKGROUND

Benzene is a hazardous ingredient for health. Benzene is used as a latex glue solvent in the shoe industry.

AIM

The purpose of the study was to analyse the relationship between benzene exposure with trans, trans-muconic acid (t, t-MA) and the blood profile of shoe workers in Romokalisari Surabaya.

METHODS

The study was a cross-sectional design conducted in the shoe industry in Romokalisari Surabaya with some subjects of 20 shoe workers. Data collection was carried out by measuring benzene levels conducted at 8 measurement points in Surabaya Romokalisari, taking workers' blood, measuring body weight and conducting interviews with respondents. Data were analysed using correlation tests.

RESULTS

The results showed that there was no relationship between benzene levels with t, t-MA (p-value = 0.205), there was no relationship between benzene Risk Quotient (RQ) and t, t-MA (p-value = 0.271) and there was no relationship between the Excess Cancer Risk (ECR) and blood profile of workers in Romokalisari. However, there were some abnormal blood profile parameters due to exposure to benzene although it was small.

CONCLUSIONS

It seems another factors such as length of work, nutritional status, duration of exposure, weight, and frequency of exposure have a considerable contribution in the determination of intake of xenobiotic ingredients in the body to cause health effects especially blood profiles.

Association Between Toluene Inhalation Exposure and Demography Towards Risk of Neurotoxic: A Cross-Sectional Study at Plastic Sack Industry Workers in Indonesia

Toluene as a chemical often used by industry has effects that are harmful to the human body. One known effect was neurotoxic. Plastic industry workers are always exposed to toluene with a neurotoxic risk. Research on toluene exposure towards neurotoxic risk has never been done in Indonesia.The research subjects were printing workers in the PT X plastic sack industry. The design was cross-sectional with simple random sampling obtained 32 workers. Toluene concentration was measured using a gas chromatography device while the neurotoxic risk was measured using Q18 Questionnaire from German. The majority of the study subjects aged range of 36-45 years, worked more than 18 years, sometimes used personal protective equipment (PPE), and had nutritional status with criteria for overweight  (≥ 23.0 - 24.9). Demographic factors such as age, working period, personal protective equipment (PPE) and nutritional status have a significant relationship with neurotoxic risk. Indoor toluene concentration also had a significant relationship with neurotoxic risk. Continuous toluene exposure could cause apoptosis/damage to the myelin sheath in the nerves so that it can cause neurotoxin risks such as difficult to concentrate, emotional, dementia and sleep disturbances. Toluene exposure in plastic bag workers can cause a risk of neurotoxins such as difficult to concentrate, dementia,  and sleep disturbances. Plastic sack workers are required to use PPE regularly (especially masks) to reduce the risk of neurotoxins through toluene inhalation.
