Abstract
Copper (Cu) is essential for plant growth and development. IRON MAN (IMA) is a family of small peptides that can bind both iron (Fe) and Cu ions. It was reported that IMAs mediate Fe homeostasis in Arabidopsis thaliana. However, it remains unclear whether IMAs are involved in Cu homeostasis. The transcript abundance of IMA genes decreased in response to Cu deficiency. The combined disruption of all IMA genes caused enhanced tolerance to Cu deficiency and resulted in an increase in the transcript abundance of Cu uptake genes, whereas the overexpression of IMA1 or IMA3 led to the opposite results. Protein interaction assays indicated that IMAs interact with Cu-DEFICIENCY INDUCED TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR1 (CITF1), which is a positive regulator of the Cu uptake genes. Further studies showed that IMAs not only interfere with the DNA binding of CITF1 but also repress the transcriptional activation activity of CITF1, hence resulting in downregulation of the Cu uptake genes. Genetic analyses indicated that IMAs modulate Cu homeostasis in a CITF1-dependent manner. Our findings indicate that IMAs inhibit the functions of CITF1 in regulating Cu deficiency responses, thereby providing a conceptual framework for comprehending the regulation of Cu homeostasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Substantial observational evidence suggests an association between neuropsychiatric conditions and Venous Thromboembolism (VTE). However, the causal relationship between these two conditions requires further investigation. Therefore, we employed a two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) approach to assess bidirectional causal effects between four neuropsychiatric conditions and VTE, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), and Pulmonary Embolism (PE). METHODS Genetic variants associated with four neuropsychiatric conditions, including Schizophrenia (SCH), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Bipolar Disorder (BD), and Epilepsy, as well as VTE, DVT, and PE were selected. Bidirectional univariable and multivariable MR methods were applied to evaluate causal relationships among these conditions. The primary causal estimates were obtained using the Inverse Variance Weighted (IVW) method with multiplicative random effects, supplemented by MR Egger regression, weighted median, simple mode, and weighted mode. Sensitivity analysis was conducted using MR pleiotropy residual sum ,funnel plots and outlier (MR-PRESSO) method. RESULTS Univariable MR results showed that genetic susceptibility to MDD increases the risk of VTE and PE (VTE: OR=1.25, 95%CI: 1.08-1.46, P=0.004; PE: OR=1.36, 95%CI: 1.09-1.69, P=0.006), and PE has an adverse causal effect on MDD (OR=1.02, 95%CI: 1.00-1.04, P=0.026). Adjustment for confounders such as obesity, sleep duration, smoking, physical activity, and alcohol consumption revealed that increased genetic susceptibility to MDD is also associated with VTE and PE. CONCLUSION Our study suggests that genetic susceptibility to MDD may have an adverse causal effect on the risk of VTE and PE, and PE has a reverse causal effect on MDD. Prevention and early diagnosis of depression are crucial in the management of VTE and PE.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to evaluate the comparative efficacy of current interventions for the prevention of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in premature infants. METHODS A network meta-analysis (NMA) was performed. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for relevant studies from their inception to May 5, 2022. Publications were eligible for our study if they were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving preterm infants at <37 weeks of gestational age and reported the incidence of any-stage ROP treated with the interventions of interest. The overall effect was pooled using the random effects model. RESULTS We identified 106 RCTs (involving 23894 participants). This NMA showed that vitamin A supplementation markedly reduced the incidence of ROP, in comparison with placebo (odds ratio [OR] = 0.59, 95% credible interval [95% CrI] 0.33, 0.85), fish oil-based lipid emulsion (OR = 0.57, 95% CrI 0.24, 0.90), early erythropoietin (OR = 0.51, 95% CrI 0.34, 0.98), probiotics (OR = 0.48, 95% CrI 0.32, 0.97), and human milk (OR = 0.50, 95% CrI 0.21, 0.78). Vitamin A supplementation has the highest probability of being the best option for reducing the ROP risk compared with the other 20 interventions based on its surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) value (SUCRA = 92.50%, 95% CrI 0.71, 1.00). CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that among 21 interventions, vitamin A supplementation might be the best method of preventing ROP. This NMA offers an important resource for further efforts to develop preventive strategies for ROP.

Abstract
PURPOSE To comprehensively identify the corneal biomechanical differences measured by Corvis ST between different degrees of myopia and emmetropia. DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS Electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science, were systematically searched for studies comparing the corneal biomechanics among various degrees of myopes and emmetropes using Corvis ST. The weighted mean differences and 95% confidence intervals were calculated. Meta-analysis was performed in high and nonhigh myopes and in myopes and emmetropes, respectively. RESULTS Eleven studies were included in this study. The meta-analysis among myopes and emmetropes included 1947 myopes and 621 emmetropes, and 443 high myopes and 449 nonhigh myopes were included in the meta-analysis among high and nonhigh myopia. Myopes showed the cornea with significantly longer time at the first applanation (A1t) and lower length at the second applanation (A2L) than emmetropes. High myopes showed significantly greater A1t, velocity at the second applanation (A2v), deformation amplitude at the highest concavity (HC-DA), and peak distance at the highest concavity (HC-PD) and decreased time at the second applanation (A2t) and radius of the highest concavity (HC-R). CONCLUSIONS Corneal biomechanics is different in myopia, especially in high myopia. Compared with nonhigh myopes, the corneas of high myopes deformed slower during the first applanation, faster during the second applanation, and showed greater deformation amplitude, indicating greater elasticity and viscidity.

Abstract
Background Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is associated with aberrant gene expression that is a common peripheral vascular disease. Here, we aimed to elucidate that the epigenetic modification of forkhead box protein 3 (FOXP3) at the post-transcriptional level, which might be the key trigger leading to the down-regulation of FOXP3 expression in DVT. Methods In order to explore the relationship between microRNAs (miRNAs) and FOXP3, mRNA and microRNA microarray analysis were performed. Dual luciferase reporter assay was used to verify the upstream miRNAs of FOXP3. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, flow cytometry and Western blot were used to detect the relative expression of miR-6132 and FOXP3. Additionally, DVT models were established to investigate the role of miR-6132 by Murine Doppler Ultrasound and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. Results Microarray and flow cytometry results showed that the FOXP3 expression was decreased while miR-6132 level was increased substantially in DVT, and there was significant negative correlation between miR-6132 and FOXP3. Moreover, we discovered that overexpressed miR-6132 reduced FOXP3 expression and aggravated DVT formation, while miR-6132 knockdown increased FOXP3 expression and alleviated DVT formation. Dual luciferase reporter assay validated the direct binding of miR-6132 to FOXP3. Conclusion Collectively, our data elucidate a new avenue through which up-regulated miR-6132 contributes to the formation and progression of DVT by inhibiting FOXP3 expression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The use of two or more drugs carries the potential risk of drug-drug interactions (DDIs), which may result in adverse reactions. Some human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients who receive antiretroviral therapy (ART) may require general anesthesia with propofol (PRL) before undergoing surgical treatment. Both PRL and ART drugs may lead to neuronal dysfunction, which can be accompanied by energy metabolism disorders. Neurons take in glucose mainly through glucose transporter 3 (Glut3) which is specifically expressed on the cell membranes of neurons. However, to date, no study has examined whether the DDIs of PRL and ART drugs interfere with glucose metabolism and Glut3 expression in neurons. METHODS An in vitro model was constructed using the primary cultures of neurons. PRL and ART drugs (EFV, AZT, and 3TC), were added at different concentrations (low, medium, and high). The neurons were exposed to the drugs for 1, 4, 8, and 12 h. The optimal drug concentration and exposure time were selected. The cellular survival rate, glucose concentration, electrophysiology, and the expression of Glut3 were detected. RESULTS There were no significant changes in the cellular survival rates of the neurons that were exposed to both PRL and ART drugs at low concentrations for 1 h. However, the survival rates of the neurons decreased significantly as the drug concentrations and durations increased. The glucose concentration of the neurons that were exposed to both PRL and the ART drugs was significantly decreased. The glucose concentration of the neurons was not affected by any individual drug. The amplitude of the action potential and the expression of Glut3 were decreased in the neurons that were exposed to both PRL and ART drugs. CONCLUSIONS The main adverse reactions induced by the DDIs between PRL and the ART drugs were decreased glucose metabolism and neuronal damage, which were caused by inhibiting the expression of Glut3. More importantly, we found that decreases in glucose metabolism predated neuronal damage.

Abstract
The nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) is a transcription factor usually hyperactivated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In addition, about 14 % of HCC patients carry mutation in NRF2 or Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1), a NRF2 inhibitor, both of which lead to constitutive activation of NRF2. It has been widely reported that NRF2 plays important roles in the proliferation, differentiation and metastasis of tumor cells. But as an important gene involved in antioxidation and anti-inflammation, little studies have focused on its role in tumor immune escape. Here we found that NRF2 gain-of-function mutation leads to reduced expression of STING and decreased infiltration of peripheral immune cells through which way it helps the tumor cells to evade from immune surveillance. This phenomenon can be reversed by STING overexpression. Our study also revealed that NRF2 mutation greatly reduced the effect of STING activating based immunotherapy. It is important to simultaneously inhibit the activity of NRF2 when using STING agonist for the treatment of HCC patients carrying NRF2 mutation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES To determine the relationship between corneal stress-strain index (SSI) and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness. SUBJECTS/METHODS 1645 healthy university students from a university-based study contributed to the analysis. The RNFL thickness was measured by high-definition optical coherence tomography (HD-OCT), axial length (AL) was measured by IOL Master, and corneal biomechanics including SSI, biomechanical corrected intraocular pressure (bIOP), and central corneal thickness (CCT) were measured by Corvis ST. Multivariate linear regression was performed to evaluate the relationship between the SSI and RNFL thickness after adjusting for potential covariates. RESULTS The mean age of the participants was 19.0[Formula: see text]0.9 years, and 1132 (68.8%) were women. Lower SSI was significantly associated with thinner RNFL thickness ([Formula: see text]=8.601, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.999-14.203, [Formula: see text] = 0.003) after adjusting for age, CCT, bIOP, and AL. No significant association between SSI and RNFL was found in men, while the association was significant in women in the fully adjusted model. The association was significant in the nonhigh myopic group ([Formula: see text] for trend = 0.021) but not in the highly myopic group. Eyes with greater bIOP and lower SSI had significantly thinner RNFL thickness. CONCLUSIONS Eyes with lower SSI had thinner RNFL thickness after adjusting for potential covariates, especially those with higher bIOP. Our findings add novel evidence of the relationship between corneal biomechanics and retinal ganglion cell damage.

Abstract
Sensing of benzene vapor is a hot spot due to the volatile drastic carcinogen even at trace concentration. However, achieving convenient and rapid detection is still a challenge. As a sort of functional porous material, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been developed as detection sensors by adsorbing benzene vapor and converting it into other signals (fluorescence intensity/wavelength, chemiresistive, weight or color, etc.). Supramolecular interaction between benzene molecules and the host framework, aperture size/shape and structural flexibility are influential factors in the performance of MOF-based sensors. Therefore, enhancing the host-guest interactions between the host framework and benzene molecules, or regulating the diffusion rate of benzene molecules by changing the aperture size/shape and flexibility of the host framework to enhance the detection signal are effective strategies for constructing MOF-based sensors. This concept highlights several types of MOF-based sensors for the detection of benzene vapor.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several studies have previously reported the normal values of corneal volume (CV) in various populations, whereas little is known about the CV distribution in healthy young Chinese adults. Our study aimed to investigate the distribution of CV and its relationships with other ocular biometric parameters among healthy young Chinese adults. METHODS A total of 1645 eyes from 1645 students at Dali University in Yunnan Province, China, were analyzed. Pentacam was used to measure CV. Central corneal thickness (CCT) and biomechanically corrected intraocular pressure (bIOP) were evaluated by Corvis-ST. Other biometrical parameters, including axial length (AL), keratometry, and white-to-white (WTW) distance, were measured using IOL Master. RESULTS The mean age of the study population was 19.01 ± 0.92 years, and 68.81% of them were women. The CV was normally distributed in the whole sample, with a mean value of 61.23 ± 3.22 mm3. CV and CCT were significantly smaller in the Yi ethnic group than in the Han ethnic group (p < 0.01). CCT (coefficient: 0.085; p < 0.001) and keratometry (coefficient: 0.422; p < 0.001) were positively correlated with CV, while AL (coefficient: -0.204; p < 0.001), WTW distance (coefficient: -0.236; p < 0.001) and bIOP (coefficient: -0.06; p < 0.001) were inversely associated with CV. CONCLUSIONS Our study provides an age-specific distribution of CV among healthy young Chinese adults. CCT, keratometry, AL, WTW distance and bIOP were important factors associated with CV.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate the intestinal inflammatory response and the abundance of intestinal bacteria in rats with high-fat diet (HFD)-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and assess the intervention effects of taurine (TAU). Methods Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups: group I, normal diet and normal saline gavage; group II, normal diet and TAU gavage; group III, HFD and normal saline gavage; group IV, HFD and TAU gavage (from the 1st week); group V, HFD and TAU gavage (from the 10th week). At the end of the 16th week, all the animals were sacrificed. Body weight, liver weight, liver function, and serum lipid levels were measured. The histopathologies of the liver and ileum were observed. The mRNA and protein expression levels of interleukin 17 (IL-17) and IL-10 in the ileum were detected by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and immunohistochemistry. Three types of bacteria were detected in intestinal feces using the 16S rDNA qPCR method. Results The ileal IL-17 level in group III was significantly higher than those in the other four groups (P < 0.01). The ileal IL-10 mRNA levels in group IV was significantly higher than those in groups III and V (P < 0.05), and IL-10 protein MOD levels in group III was significantly lower than those in the other four groups (P < 0.01). The numbers of Lactobacillus in group III were significantly lower than those in the other four groups (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). The numbers of Bifidobacteria in groups IV and V were significantly increased compared with that in group III (P < 0.05). Conclusion TAU may down-regulate the expression of IL-17, up-regulate the expression of IL-10 and regulate the intestinal flora, and alleviate the liver and intestinal damage in rats with HFD-induced NAFLD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ondansetron has been reported to attenuate the incidence of spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension (SAIH) and norepinephrine requirement during caesarean section. However, no quantitative study has evaluated the extent of this effect. This study aimed to determine the dose-response of prophylactic infusion of norepinephrine to prevent SAIH in parturients who received intravenous ondansetron or placebo before spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section. The median effective dose (ED 50 ) and 90% effective dose (ED 90 ) were compared to evaluate the effect of ondansetron versus placebo on the norepinephrine requirement. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred fifty parturients undergoing caesarean section were randomized to receive either 0.1 mg/kg ondansetron (group O) or saline control (group C) 10 min before spinal anaesthesia. The parturients were randomly assigned to one of five different norepinephrine infusion groups: 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 or 0.10 µg/kg/min. An effective infusion dose of norepinephrine was defined as non-occurrence of hypotension during the study period. The values for ED 50 and ED 90 of norepinephrine infusion were determined using probit regression. Differences between the two groups were evaluated by comparing the relative median potency with 95% CIs. RESULTS The ED 50 values were 0.033 (95% CIs, 0.024-0.043) µg/kg/min in group C and 0.021 (95% CIs, 0.013-0.029) µg/kg/min in group O. The ED 90 values were 0.091 (95% CIs 0.068-0.147) µg/kg/min in group C and 0.059 (95% CIs 0.044-0.089) µg/kg/min in group O, respectively. The estimate of the relative median potency for norepinephrine in group C versus group O was 0.643 (95% CIs, 0.363-0.956). The incidence of side effects was comparable between groups. No significant difference in neonatal outcomes. CONCLUSION Intravenous ondansetron 0.1 mg/kg before spinal anaesthesia significantly reduced the dose requirement of prophylactic norepinephrine infusion in parturients undergoing elective caesarean section. This finding is potentially useful for clinical practice and further research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Saponin of Schizocapsa plantaginea Hance I (SSPH I),a bioactive saponin found in Schizocapsa plantaginea, exhibits significant anti-proliferation and antimetastasis in lung cancer. OBJECTIVE To explore the anti-metastatic effects of SSPH I on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with emphasis on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) both in vitro and vivo. METHODS The effects of SSPH I at the concentrations of 0, 0.875,1.75, and 3.5 μM on A549 and PC9 lung cancer cells were evaluated using colony formation assay, CCK-8 assay, transwell assay and wound-healing assay. The actin cytoskeleton reorganization of PC9 and A549 cells was detected using the FITC-phalloidin fluorescence staining assay. The proteins related to EMT (N-cadherin, E-cadherin and vimentin), p- PI3K, p- AKT, p- mTOR and p- ERK1/2 were detected by Western blotting. A mouse model of lung cancer metastasis was established by utilizing 95-D cells, and the mice were treated with SSPH I by gavage. RESULTS The results suggested that SSPH I significantly inhibited the migration and invasion of NSCLC cells under a non-cytotoxic concentration. Furthermore, SSPH I at a non-toxic concentration of 0.875 μM inhibited F-actin cytoskeleton organization. Importantly, attenuation of EMT was observed in A549 cells with upregulation in the expression of epithelial cell marker E-cadherin and downregulation of the mesenchymal cell markers vimentin as well as Ncadherin. Mechanistic studies revealed that SSPH I inhibited MAPK/ERK1/2 and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways. CONCLUSION SSPH I inhibited EMT, migration, and invasion of NSCLC cells by suppressing MAPK/ERK1/2 and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways, suggesting that the natural compound SSPH I could be used for inhibiting metastasis of NSCLC.

Abstract
Asphalt concrete is widely used in hydraulic structure facilities as an impermeable structure in alpine cold regions, and its dynamic mechanical properties are influenced by the strain rate and specimen size. However, the specimen size has an important effect on mechanical properties; few systematic studies have investigated on the size effect of hydraulic asphalt concrete (HAC) under dynamic or static loading rates. In the present study, four sizes of cylindrical roller-compacted hydraulic asphalt concrete (RCHAC) specimens with heights of 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, and 200 mm were prepared and tested under different loading rates ranging from 10-5 s-1 to 10-2 s-1 to investigate the size effects of mechanical properties and failure modes at the temperature of 5 °C. The effect of strain rate on the size effects of the compressive strength and the elastic modulus of RCHAC have also been explored. These tests indicate that when the specimen size increases, the compressive strength and failure degree decrease, while the elastic modulus increases. When the height increases from 50 mm to 200 mm, the compressive strength at different strain rates decreased by more than 50%. Furthermore, the elastic modulus increased by about 211.8% from 0.51 GPa to 1.59 GPa at a strain rate of 10-5 s-1, and increased by 150% from 5.08 GPa to 12.71 GPa at a strain rate of 10-2 s-1. As the strain rate increases, the variation trends with the size of the compressive strength, elastic modulus, and failure degree are distinctly intensified. A modified dynamic size effect law, which incorporates both the specimen size and strain rate, is proposed and verified to illustrate the dynamic size effect for the RCHAC under different loading rates.

Abstract
Molecular docking (MD) analysis is currently the most commonly used theoretical simulation method to investigate the interaction of aptamers (receptors) and small molecules (ligands) and understand the recognition mechanism between them at a molecular level. Using the specific aptamers of tetracycline antibiotics (tetracycline (TET), oxytetracycline (OTC), doxycycline (DOC)) as the docking models, three steady-state aptamers of tertiary structures (SATS) were established for each aptamer with the UNAFold and RNAComposer tools. The binding free energy (BFE), docking score (DS), and binding site (base) of the specific ligands (TET, OTC, and DOC) with their respective SATS were obtained by molecular docking. The results revealed one or more binding sites in the established SATS of the aptamers. The BFE and DS of different binding sites of one specific SATS varied significantly. The results also revealed that the site with the highest BFE represented the most dominant binding site, even if it was not the SATS with minimum energy. The BFE values could also be used to evaluate the affinity and specificity of the aptamer to its target. For the first time, this study proposes a method for MD analysis of the aptamer and its target based on different SATS, clarification of the binding mode, and prediction of the binding sites (bases). This study provides a theoretical basis for tailoring; structural optimization; and base modification of aptamers; identifying aptamers with high affinity and specificity.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the associations of corneal biomechanical properties as measured by the Corvis ST with refractive errors and ocular biometry in an unselected sample of young adults. METHODS A total of 1645 healthy university students underwent corneal biomechanical parameters measurement by the Corvis ST. The refractive status of the participants was measured using an autorefractor without cycloplegia. Ocular biometric parameters were measured using the IOL Master. RESULTS After adjusting for the effect of age, sex, biomechanical-corrected intraocular pressure and central corneal thickness, axial length was significantly associated with A1 velocity (A1v, β = -10.47), A2 velocity (A2v, β = 4.66), A2 deflection amplitude (A2DeflA, β = -6.02), HC deflection amplitude (HC-DeflA, β = 5.95), HC peak distance (HC-PD, β = 2.57), deformation amplitude ratio max (DA Rmax, β = -0.36), Ambrósio's relational thickness to the horizontal profile (ARTh, β = 0.002). For axial length / corneal radius ratio, only A1v (β = -2.01), A1 deflection amplitude (A1DeflA, β = 2.30), HC-DeflA (β = 1.49), HC-PD (β = -0.21), DA Rmax (β = 0.07), stress-strain index (SSI, β = -0.29), ARTh (β < 0.001) were significant associates. A1v (β = 23.18), HC-DeflA (β = -15.36), HC-PD (β = 1.27), DA Rmax (β = -0.66), SSI (β = 3.53), ARTh (β = -0.02) were significantly associated with spherical equivalent. CONCLUSION Myopic eyes were more likely to have more deformable corneas and corneas in high myopia were easier to deform and were even softer compared with those in the mild/moderate myopia.

Abstract
Background: Vancomycin dosing is difficult in critically ill patients receiving continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Previous population pharmacokinetic (PopPK) models seldom consider the effect of residual diuresis, a significant factor of elimination, and thus have poor external utility. This study aimed to build a PopPK model of vancomycin that incorporates daily urine volume to better describe the elimination of vancomycin in these patients. Methods: We performed a multicenter retrospective study that included critically ill patients who received intermittent intravenous vancomycin and CRRT. The PopPK model was developed using the NONMEM program. Goodness-of-fit plots and bootstrap analysis were employed to evaluate the final model. Monte Carlo simulation was performed to explore the optimal dosage regimen with a target area under the curve of ≥400 mg/L h and 400-600 mg/L h. Results: Overall, 113 observations available from 71 patients were included in the PopPK model. The pharmacokinetics could be well illustrated by a one-compartment model with first-order elimination, with the 24-h urine volume as a significant covariate of clearance. The final typical clearance was 1.05 L/h, and the mean volume of distribution was 69.0 L. For patients with anuria or oliguria, a maintenance dosage regimen of 750 mg q12h is recommended. Conclusion: Vancomycin pharmacokinetics in critically ill patients receiving CRRT were well described by the developed PopPK model, which incorporates 24-h urine volume as a covariate. This study will help to better understand vancomycin elimination and benefit precision dosing in these patients.

Abstract
College freshmen are special populations facing great challenges in adapting to the brand new environment, and their lifestyle and emotional states are worthy of attention. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, their screen time and prevalence of negative emotions were significantly increased, but few studies have focused on such situation of college freshmen and illustrated relevant mechanisms. Thus, based on a sample of Chinese college freshmen during the COVID-19 pandemic, the current study aimed to investigate the association between their screen time and negative emotions (depression, anxiety and stress), and further explore the mediating effects of sleep quality. Data from 2,014 college freshmen was analyzed. The screen time was self-reported by participants using predesigned questionnaires. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Chinese Version of Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) were used to assess sleep quality and emotional states, respectively. The mediation analysis was conducted to examine the meditation effect. Results indicated that participants with negative emotions tended to have longer daily screen time and worse sleep quality, sleep quality partially mediated the association between screen time and negative emotions.The critical role of sleep quality and related intervention measures should be recognized and implemented.

Abstract
Purpose Eye movement has been frequently studied in clinical conditions, but the association with myopia has been less explored, especially in population-based samples. The purpose of this study was to assess the associations of eye movement measured by the Corvis ST with refractive status in healthy university students. Methods A total of 1640 healthy students were included in the study (19.0 ± 0.9 years). Eye movement parameters (whole eye movement [WEM]; whole eye movement time [WEMT]) were measured by the Corvis ST. Spherical equivalent (SE) was measured using an autorefractor without cycloplegia. IOL Master was used to assess axial length (AL). Results AL was negatively correlated with WEM and WEMT (rWEM = -0.28, rWEMT = -0.08), and SE was positively correlated with WEM and WEMT (rWEM = 0.21, rWEMT = 0.14). For the risk of high myopia, breakpoint analysis and restricted cubic spline model showed that the knots of the significant steep downward trend of WEM and WEMT were 0.27 mm and 20.4 ms, respectively. The piecewise linear regression model revealed a significant correlation between AL, SE, and WEM when the value of WEM was below 0.27 mm. Additionally, when WEMT exceeded 20.4 ms, a significant decrease in AL and an increase in SE were observed with increasing WEMT. Conclusions A larger distance and longer duration of eye movement were correlated with a lower degree of myopia and shorter AL, and there was a threshold effect. Translational Relevance The findings might aid in understanding the pathogenesis of myopia and provide a theoretical foundation for clinical diagnosis and prediction.

Abstract
PURPOSE We aimed to investigate the molecular characteristics of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CESC) by analyzing ferroptosis-related gene (FRG) expression data to predict prognosis. METHODS Gene expression and clinicopathological data of patients with CESC were collected from the Cancer Genome Atlas and the Genotype-Tissue Expression databases. Using Cox regression analysis, we identified 21 FRGs associated with prognosis. Cluster analysis categorized patients into subgroups based on these genes and compared their clinicopathological, biological, and immune infiltration features. FRG methylation levels were examined, and a risk model based on such FRG methylation levels was constructed using LASSO and Cox regression analyses. The model's predictive capacity was validated, and the relationships between the risk score and immune infiltration, tumor microenvironment, and drug sensitivity were explored. FRG methylation in CESC tissues was validated by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS We identified 21 FRGs associated with CESC prognosis. Patients were stratified into two subtypes based on these genes, they showed differences in prognosis, immune cell types, and immune checkpoint expression. A three-gene risk score (including AQP3, MGST1, and TFRC) was generated, and the low-risk group showed better overall survival. The high-risk and low-risk groups differed in terms of immune infiltration, gene mutations, and drug sensitivity. Experimental validation confirmed the upregulation of AQP3 and TFRC, whereas MGST1 expression was not significantly altered in CESC tissues compared with that in normal cervical tissues. CONCLUSION This study highlights the potential role of FRG methylation in predicting CESC prognosis and provides a personalized assessment of immune responses in patients with CESC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Smoking and alcohol consumption are important risk factors for several ocular disorders, but their effects on corneal biomechanics remain unclear. Our study aims to explore the association between smoking and alcohol consumption with corneal biomechanical parameters measured by Corvis-ST (CST) among university students. SUBJECTS/METHODS A total of 1645 healthy university students from a university-based study were included, and all participants underwent corneal biomechanical parameters measurement by CST. We selected 10 reliable parameters that can reflect the corneal deformation response. All participants had a standardised interview to determine their smoking and alcohol consumption status. RESULTS The mean age of the participants was 19.0 ± 0.9 years, and 1132 (68.8%) were women. Smoking was significantly associated with stiffer corneas. Smokers showed significantly slower second applanation velocity (A2v) (β = 0.007 m/s, 95% confidence interval 0.001 to 0.014, P = 0.032) and lower integrated radius (IR) (β = -0.214 mm-1, 95% confidence interval -0.420 to -0.007, P = 0.043) than non-smokers after adjusting for age, gender, eye-rubbing, myopia, and body mass index (BMI). Smokers with BMI no less than 24.0 showed slower A2v and lower IR. Alcohol consumption and passive smoking were found no significant association with corneal biomechanics. CONCLUSION Smokers had less deformable corneas, especially those with BMI no less than 24.0. Our findings provide new evidence for the association between smoking and ocular disorders associated with corneal biomechanics like glaucoma.

Abstract
As the demand for Internet access increases, malicious traffic on the Internet has soared also. In view of the fact that the existing malicious-traffic-identification methods suffer from low accuracy, this paper proposes a malicious-traffic-identification method based on contrastive learning. The proposed method is able to overcome the shortcomings of traditional methods that rely on labeled samples and is able to learn data feature representations carrying semantic information from unlabeled data, thus improving the model accuracy. In this paper, a new malicious traffic feature extraction model based on a Transformer is proposed. Employing a self-attention mechanism, the proposed feature extraction model can extract the bytes features of malicious traffic by performing calculations on the malicious traffic, thereby realizing the efficient identification of malicious traffic. In addition, a bidirectional GLSTM is introduced to extract the timing features of malicious traffic. The experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the latest published methods in terms of accuracy and F1 score.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Magnesium has been found to have a strong association with peripheral arterial disease (PAD), and dietary magnesium intake shows promise as a predictor of the condition. However, the relationship between low dietary magnesium intake and an increased risk of PAD remains uncertain, and further research is needed to clarify this relationship. METHODS This study analyzed data from 5969 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) of the United States from 1999 to 2004. Multifactorial logistic regression models were used to investigate the association between dietary magnesium intake and PAD. RESULTS Participants with PAD had lower dietary magnesium intake compared to those without PAD. After adjusting for all covariates, dietary magnesium intake remained negatively associated with PAD (OR: 0.999, 95% CI: 0.998, 1.000). When dietary magnesium intake was divided into quartiles, compared with the fourth quantile, the first quartile is associated with a higher incidence rate of PAD (OR: 1.560, 95%CI: 1.019, 2.386). Subgroup analysis revealed that the link between dietary magnesium intake and PAD remained significant among specific subgroups, including non-white, never or former smokers, and non-hypertensive, non-diabetic individuals (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Our study provides evidence that dietary magnesium intake is negatively associated with the incidence of PAD. Therefore, people with inadequate dietary magnesium intake, particularly those with excessively low intake, should increase their magnesium intake to reduce the risk of PAD.

Abstract
Erianin, a phytoestrogen with therapeutic potential, is one of the major active components of Dendrobll caulis. Erianin has a variety of pharmacological effects, such as anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic retinopathy, anti-psoriasis, and antibacterial effects. Especially, in regard to the anti-tumor effect of erianin, the underlying molecular mechanism has been partly clarified. In fact, the numerous pharmacological actions of erianin are complex and interrelated, mainly including ERK1/2, PI3K/Akt, JAK2/STAT3, HIF-1α/PD-L1, PPT1/mTOR, JNK/c-Jun, and p38 MAPK signal pathway. However, on account of the poor water solubility and the low bioavailability of erianin, greatly affected and limited its further development and application. And it is worthwhile and meaningful to explore more extensive pharmacological effects and mechanisms, clarify pharmacokinetics, and synthesize the derivatives of erianin. Conclusively, in this paper, the pharmacological effects of erianin and its mechanism, pharmacokinetics, and derivatives studies were reviewed, in order to provide a reference for the development and application of erianin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Myopia is prevalent in children and adolescents. Understanding the effect of multiple behaviors and their latent patterns on ocular biometric parameters may help clinicians and public health practitioners understand the behavioral risk pattern of myopia from a person-centered perspective. The purpose of this study was to identify the patterns of four major behavioral risk factors associated with myopia, including time spent outdoors, digital screen time, sleep duration, and performance of Chinese eye exercises. The study also examined the relationships between these behavioral patterns and myopia as well as ocular biometric parameters in a sample of Chinese college students. METHODS This study included 2014 students from the Dali University Students Eye Health Study. The average age of the subjects was 19.0 ± 0.9 years old, ranging from 15.7 to 25.1 years old. Each participant's refractive status was measured using an autorefractor without cycloplegia and ocular biometric parameters were measured using an IOL Master. Behavioral risk factors were collected using a pre-designed self-administered questionnaire. Latent class analysis (LCA) was performed to identify cluster patterns of various behaviors. RESULTS The prevalence of myopia was 91.8% in this population. The 2-class model was selected for the LCA based on goodness-of-fit evaluation metrics. Among the overall study sample, 41.1% and 58.9% were assigned into the high-risk and low-risk class, respectively. The risk of myopia [odds ratio (OR) = 2.12, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.52-3.14], high myopia (OR = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.14-1.78) and axial length/corneal radius (AL/CR) ratio of more than 3.0 (OR = 1.82, 95% CI = 1.22-2.72) were significantly higher in the high-risk compared with low-risk class. CONCLUSIONS Chinese university students showed differential risks of myopia and could be subdivided into high- and low-risk clusters based on four behavioral variables.

Abstract
Food security is a global issue, since it is closely related to human health. Antibiotics play a significant role in animal husbandry owing to their desirable broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. However, irrational use of antibiotics has caused serious environmental pollution and food safety problems; thus, the on-site detection of antibiotics is in high demand in environmental analysis and food safety assessment. Aptamer-based sensors are simple to use, accurate, inexpensive, selective, and are suitable for detecting antibiotics for environmental and food safety analysis. This review summarizes the recent advances in aptamer-based electrochemical, fluorescent, and colorimetric sensors for antibiotics detection. The review focuses on the detection principles of different aptamer sensors and recent achievements in developing electrochemical, fluorescent, and colorimetric aptamer sensors. The advantages and disadvantages of different sensors, current challenges, and future trends of aptamer-based sensors are also discussed.

Abstract
Research indicates that sleep problem is a behavioral risk factor of obesity. However, few research have applied a multi-dimensional approach to investigate the relationship between sleep health and adiposity. Therefore, the current study aimed to examine the associations of sleep characteristics (duration, quality) and chronotype with overweight/obesity as measured by body mass index. Data were obtained from 2014 college students from the Dali University in the Yunnan province of China in the year 2021. Sleep characteristics and chronotype were measured using self-reported questionnaires. The presence of overweight/obesity was assessed by anthropometric measurements. Multiple logistic regression models and restricted cubic spline hazard models were established to examine associations between sleep characteristics, chronotype and adiposity. After adjusting for demographic characteristics and other obesity-related behavioral risk factors, evening type was positively associated with overweight/obesity, and an L-shaped dose-effect relationship was observed between chronotype scores and the presence of overweight/obesity. However, sleep duration and quality were not associated with the presence of overweight/obesity in the logistic regression models and restrictive cubic splines models. This study indicated that Chinese college students who had the evening chronotype were more likely to be affected by overweight/obesity. Chronotype as an important dimension of sleep health should be incorporated in obesity intervention programs.

Abstract
An enzyme-free, sensitive, and convenient approach was reported for the P-nitrophenyl substituent organophosphorus pesticides (NSOPs) of paraoxon-methyl (PM), paraoxon-ethyl (PE), parathion-methyl (PTM) and parathion-ethyl (PTE)) by indirectly quantification of the 4-nitrophenol (4-NP, hydrolysis product of the NSOPs). NaOH instead of hydrolase/nanozyme was applied, and temperature, pH, ultrasound was investigated to improve the NSOPs hydrolysis. Under the optimized conditions, the hydrolysis efficiencies were up to 99.9 %, 99.9 %, 99.6 %, 96.0 % for PM (10 min), PE (30 min), PTM (90 min) and PTE (120 min), based on which a low detection limits of 0.06 (PM), 0.07 (PE), 0.06 (PTM) and 0.07 (PTE) ppb were calculated with the 4-NP detection limit (0.03 ppb). Furthermore, the method exhibited good performance for the NSOPs with recoveries from 88.87 % to 100.33 % in real samples. This indirect approach offered an ultrasensitive alternative for the NSOPs detection, which holds great potential in practical application for the assessment of food safety and environmental risks.

Abstract
Iron (Fe) is an essential trace element for plants. When suffering from Fe deficiency, plants modulate the expression of Fe deficiency-responsive genes to promote Fe uptake. POPEYE (PYE) is a key bHLH (basic helix-loop-helix) transcription factor involved in Fe homeostasis. However, the molecular mechanism of PYE regulating the Fe deficiency response remains elusive in Arabidopsis. We found that the overexpression of PYE attenuates the expression of Fe deficiency-responsive genes. PYE directly represses the transcription of bHLH Ib genes (bHLH38, bHLH39, bHLH100, and bHLH101) by associating with their promoters. Although PYE contains an ethylene response factor-associated amphiphilic repression (EAR) motif, it does not interact with the transcriptional co-repressors TOPLESS/TOPLESS-RELATED (TPL/TPRs). Sub-cellular localization analysis indicated that PYE localizes in both the cytoplasm and nucleus. PYE contains a nuclear export signal (NES) which is required for the cytoplasmic localization of PYE. Mutation of the NES amplifies the repression function of PYE, resulting in down-regulation of Fe deficiency-responsive genes. Co-expression assays indicated that three bHLH IVc members (bHLH104, bHLH105/ILR3, and bHLH115) facilitate the nuclear accumulation of PYE. Conversely, PYE indirectly represses the transcription activation ability of bHLH IVc. Additionally, PYE directly negatively regulates its own transcription. This study provides new insights into the Fe deficiency response signalling pathway and enhances the understanding of PYE functions in Arabidopsis.

Abstract
Indoor detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) concentration is necessary due to the serious toxicity hazards even at trace level. However, physisorbents usually exhibit weak interactions especially in the presence of trace concentrations of VOCs, thus exhibiting poor responsive signal. Herein, we report a new flexible metal-organic framework (MOF) that exhibits interesting pore-opening behavior after immersing in H2O. The pore-opening phase shows significant (~116 folds) and extremely fast (< 1 minute) fluorescence enhancement after being exposed to saturated benzene vapor. The limit of detection concentration for benzene vapor can be calculated as 0.133 mg L-1. Thus this material represents the first MOF to achieve visual detection of trace benzene vapor by the naked eyes. Theoretical calculations and single-crystal structure reveal that the special "bilateral π-π stacking" interactions between the host and guest, which facilitate electron transfer and greatly enhance the intensity of fluorescence.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are conflicts in guideline recommendations about the value and range of vancomycin trough concentration during therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). This multicenter retrospective study was conducted to explore the usefulness of trough concentration in specific patients who were critically ill without any form of dialysis. METHODS Patient information from 5 centers was retrospectively collected, and the 24-hour area under the curve (AUC) was estimated by a Bayesian method. Patients were categorized into four groups according to trough concentration: <10, 10-15, 15-20, and >20 mg/L, and the corresponding AUC was analyzed. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to investigate the relationship between trough concentration and AUC. RESULTS Overall, 645 trough concentrations available from 416 patients were included in this study. The results indicated that the AUC was always below 400 mg/L∙h or above 600 mg/L∙h in the <10 or >20 mg/L groups, whereas the ratio of vancomycin AUC target attainment (400-600 mg/L∙h) was 48.8% and 92.3% in the 10-15 mg/L and 15-20 mg/L groups, respectively. Augmented renal clearance, low daily dose and non-q12h administration were found to be independent risk factors associated with AUC target nonattainment for patients with trough concentrations of 10-15 mg/L. CONCLUSION Vancomycin trough concentration is a good marker of AUC for critically ill adults without any form of dialysis. However, for patients with trough concentrations of 10-15 mg/L, AUC-guided TDM may be needed, especially for those with risk factors.

Abstract
Although iron (Fe) deficiency is an adverse condition to growth and development of plants, it increases the resistance to pathogens. How Fe deficiency induces the resistance to pathogens is still unclear. Here, we reveal that the inoculation of Botrytis cinerea activates the Fe deficiency response of plants, which further induces ethylene synthesis and then resistance to B. cinerea. FIT and bHLH Ib are a pair of bHLH transcription factors, which control the Fe deficiency response. Both the Fe deficiency-induced ethylene synthesis and resistance are blocked in fit-2 and bhlh4x-1 (a quadruple mutant for four bHLH Ib members). SAM1 and SAM2, two ethylene synthesis-associated genes, are induced by Fe deficiency in a FIT-bHLH Ib-dependent manner. Moreover, SAM1 and SAM2 are required for the increased ethylene and resistance to B. cinerea under Fe-deficient conditions. Our findings suggest that the FIT-bHLH Ib module activates the expression of SAM1 and SAM2, thereby inducing ethylene synthesis and resistance to B. cinerea. This study uncovers that Fe signaling also functions as a part of the plant immune system against pathogens.

Abstract
PRCIS Normal tension glaucoma patients had softer corneas than normal controls, whereas high-tension glaucoma and ocular hypertension patients had stiffer corneas. PURPOSE To comprehensively identify the corneal biomechanical differences of patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT) using the Ocular Response Analyzer or the Corvis ST. METHODS The electronic databases PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science were comprehensively searched for studies comparing corneal biomechanical differences between POAG and OHT patients with normal controls by Ocular Response Analyzer or Corvis ST. The weighted mean differences and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Subgroup analyses were performed according to the subtypes of POAG, including high-tension glaucoma (HTG) and normal tension glaucoma (NTG). RESULTS Thirty-one case-control studies were ultimately included, with 2462 POAG patients, 345 OHT patients, and 3281 normal controls. The corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF), and highest concavity time (HC-t) were all lower in POAG patients than in normal controls. The CH, time at the second applanation (A2t), HC-t, highest concavity radius (HC-R), and deformation amplitude at the highest concavity (HC-DA) were lower in OHT patients, while the CRF, time at the first applanation (A1t), and stiffness parameter at the first applanation (SP-A1) were greater in OHT patients than in normal controls. The subgroup analyses showed that the CH, A2t, length at the second applanation (A2L), and HC-DA were lower in HTG, and the CH, CRF, A1t, and HC-t were lower in NTG patients than in normal controls. CONCLUSION The corneas of NTG patients are more deformable than normal controls, whereas the corneas of HTG and OHT patients are stiffer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND College freshmen tend to have more psychological and behavioral problems compared with other populations, especially depressive symptoms. Perceived parental control has been proved to play a significant role in mental health among children and adolescents. Based on the theoretical and empirical research of chronotype and sleep quality, this study constructed a chain mediating model to examine whether they mediated the relationship between parental control and depressive symptoms among Chinese college freshmen. METHODS A total of 2014 college freshmen from Dali University were recruited to participate in this study and completed self-report Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS). PROCESS 3.5 for SPSS was applied to determine the chain mediating effect of chronotype and sleep quality between parental control and depressive symptoms. RESULTS College freshmen with depressive symptoms have higher levels of parental control and worse subjective sleep quality than normal population (all p < 0.001). All study variables are correlated with each other, while chronotype has no significant association with depressive symptoms (r = -0.03, p > 0.05). Both maternal and paternal control have a direct link with depressive symptoms (β = 0.86, p < 0.001; β = 0.88, p < 0.001). Parental control could affect depressive symptoms via the independent mediating effect of sleep quality and the chain mediating effect of chronotype and sleep quality. The total indirect effects of maternal and paternal control on depressive symptoms are 0.93 and 0.94, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Chronotype and sleep quality could mediate the association between parental control and depressive symptoms.

Abstract
IRONMAN (IMA) is a family of small peptides which positively regulate plant responses under Fe deficiency. However, the molecular mechanism by which OsIMA1 and OsIMA2 regulate Fe homeostasis in rice is unclear. Here, we reveal that OsIMA1 and OsIMA2 interact with the potential Fe sensors, OsHRZ1 (HAEMERYTHRIN MOTIF-CONTAINING REALLY INTERESTING NEW GENE (RING) AND ZINC-FINGER PROTEIN 1) and OsHRZ2. OsIMA1 and OsIMA2 contain a conserved 17 amino acid C-terminal region which is responsible for the interactions with OsHRZ1 and OsHRZ2. Plants overexpressing OsIMA1 (OsIMA1ox) show increased Fe concentration in seeds and reduced fertility, as observed in the hrz1-2 loss-of-function mutant plants. Moreover, the expression patterns of Fe deficiency inducible genes in the OsIMA1ox plants are the same as those in hrz1-2. Co-expression assays suggest that OsHRZ1 and OsHRZ2 promote the degradation of OsIMA1 proteins. As the interaction partners of OsHRZ1, the OsPRI (POSITIVE REGULATOR OF IRON HOMEOSTASIS) proteins also interact with OsHRZ2. The conserved C-terminal region of four OsPRIs contributes to the interactions with OsHRZ1 and OsHRZ2. An artificial IMA (aIMA) derived from the C-terminal of OsPRI1 can be also degraded by OsHRZ1. Moreover, aIMA overexpressing rice plants accumulate more Fe without reduction of fertility. This work establishes the link between OsIMAs and OsHRZs, and develops a new strategy for Fe fortification in rice.

Abstract
Fighting against tumors is an ongoing challenge in both medicinal and clinical applications. In recent years, chemotherapy, along with surgery, has significantly improved the situation to prolong life expectancy. Theoretically, and regardless of dosage, we now have drugs that are strong enough to eliminate most tumors. However, due to uncontrollable drug distribution in the body, it is difficult to increase treatment efficiency by simply increasing dosages. For this reason, the need for a drug delivery system that can release “bombs” at the target organ or tissue as precisely as possible has elicited the interest of researchers. In our work, we design and construct a silica-based nanocomposite to meet the above demand. The novel nanocomposite drug carrier can be guided to target tumors or tissue by a magnetic field, since it is constructed with superparamagnetic Fe3O4 as the core. The Fe3O4 core is clad in a mesoporous silica molecular sieve MCM-41 (represented as MS, in this article), since this MS has enormous ordered hexagonal caves providing sufficient space to hold the drug molecules. To modify the magnetically guided carriers so that they become both magnetically guided and light-responsive, benzophenone hydrazone is coupled into the molecular sieve tunnel. When a certain wavelength of light is imposed on the gating molecules, C=N double bonds vibrate and swing, causing the cavity that holds the drug molecules to change size and open the tunnels. Hence, the nanocomposite has the ability to release loaded drugs with light irradiation. The structure, loading abilities, and the size of the nanocomposite are inspected with a scanning electron microscope, a transmission electron microscope, thermogravimetry analysis, N2 adsorption/desorption, and dynamic light scattering The biocompatibility and in vitro drug molecule controlled release are tested with an SMMC-7721 cell line.

Abstract
CuX as a simple dual catalyst strategy that promotes the tandem transformations of fused oxazolo[2,3-b][1,3]oxazines has been developed. Copper catalyzed terminal ynones, sulfonyl azides, and nitriles for the CuAAC/ring cleavage/[4+2] annulation reaction, while the halogen catalyzed ring cleavage and [2+3] annulation of oxiranes to form the final fused products. This study provides a four-component, one-pot strategy for synthesizing complex fused heterocycles from simple ingredients and expands the application of CuAAC in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient that affects the growth and development of plants because it participates as a cofactor in numerous physiological and biochemical reactions. As a transition metal, Fe is redox active. Fe often exists in soil in the form of insoluble ferric hydroxides that are not bioavailable to plants. Plants have developed sophisticated mechanisms to ensure an adequate supply of Fe in a fluctuating environment. Plants can sense Fe status and modulate the transcription of Fe uptake-associated genes, finally controlling Fe uptake from soil to root. There is a critical need to understand the molecular mechanisms by which plants maintain Fe homeostasis in response to Fe fluctuations. This review focuses on recent advances in elucidating the functions of Fe signaling components. Taking Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa as examples, this review begins by discussing the Fe acquisition systems that control Fe uptake from soil, the major components that regulate Fe uptake systems, and the perception of Fe status. Future explorations of Fe signal transduction will pave the way for understanding the regulatory mechanisms that underlie the maintenance of plant Fe homeostasis.

Abstract
A patient complained of vision loss of his left eye which was crushed by iron ore for 11 months. The cornea of the injured eye was thin and swollen, and a large amount of rust-like material was observed to be deposited. An intraocular foreign body was found by orbital CT. During vitrectomy, a piece of metal sheet was found near the ora serrate, and the intraocular structure was severely damaged, and characterized by vitreous brown turbidity, a white optic disc, occlusion of blood vessels in the fundus, and peripheral retinal atrophy with degeneration. The patient was diagnosed as ocular siderosis in the left eye.

Abstract
Background Although the optimal infusion dose of norepinephrine combined with crystalloid coload for preventing spinal anesthesia-induced hypotension (SAIH) for cesarean delivery has been established, the infusion regimen of norepinephrine combined with colloid coload has not been fully quantified. The objective of this study was to compare and determine the median effective dose (ED50) and 90% effective dose (ED90) of norepinephrine infusion combined with crystalloid coload versus colloid coload for preventing SAIH during cesarean delivery. Methods Two hundred parturients were randomly assigned to receive norepinephrine infusion at 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, or 0.10 µg/kg/min in combination with 10 mL/kg crystalloid coload or colloid coload to prevent SAIH. The study period was defined as the interval from the commencement of intrathecal injection to delivery of the neonate. The primary outcome was non-occurrence of hypotension, defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) less than 80% of the baseline before delivery. The ED50 and ED90 of norepinephrine infusion dose were determined using probit regression analysis. By calculating the 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of relative median potency to determine whether the prophylactic infusion of norepinephrine requirement was different between the two groups. Results The derived ED50 and ED90 of norepinephrine infusion combined with crystalloid coload were 0.030 (95% CIs 0.020 to 0.038) and 0.097 (95% CIs 0.072 to 0.157) µg/kg/min, respectively. The ED50 and ED90 of norepinephrine infusion combined with colloid coload were 0.021 (95% CIs 0.013 to 0.029) and 0.070 (95% CIs 0.053 to 0.107) µg/kg/min, respectively. The estimate of relative median potency for norepinephrine between the two groups was 1.37 (95% CIs 0.94 to 2.23). Conclusion Under the conditions of this study, 10 mL/kg colloid coload reduced the dose of prophylactic norepinephrine infusion by approximately 30% in parturients during spinal anesthesia for cesarean delivery compared with the crystalloid coload.

Abstract
Iron (Fe) is crucial for crop productivity and quality. However, Fe deficiency is prevalent worldwide, particularly in alkaline soil. Plants have evolved sophisticated mechanisms to withstand Fe-deficient conditions. Oryza sativa IRON-RELATED BHLH TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR 3 (OsIRO3/OsbHLH63) has been identified as a negative regulator of Fe deficiency response signaling; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In the present study, we constructed two iro3 mutants, which developed leaves with necrotic lesions under Fe-deficient conditions. Loss-of-function of OsIRO3 caused upregulation of Fe deficiency-associated genes in the root. Fe concentration measurements showed that the iro3 mutants had increased shoot Fe concentration only under Fe-deficient conditions. Further analysis revealed that OsIRO3 directly regulated the expression of IRON-RELATED BHLH TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR 2 (OsIRO2), which encodes a positive regulator of the Fe uptake system. Further investigation demonstrated that OsIRO3 interacted with POSITIVE REGULATOR OF IRON HOMEOSTASIS 1(OsPRI1) and OsPRI2, and. OsIRO3 repressed their transcription activation towards OsIRO2. OsIRO3 contains an EAR motif, which recruits the TOPLESS/TOPLESS-RELATED (OsTPL/OsTPRs) corepressors. Mutation of the EAR motif attenuated the repression ability of OsIRO3. This work sheds light on the molecular mechanism by which OsIRO3 modulates Fe homeostasis in rice.

Abstract
Geographical indications of agricultural products are characterized by high quality and regional attributes, while they are more likely to be counterfeited by similar products from nearby regions. Accurate discrimination of origin on small geographical scales is extremely important for geographical indications of agricultural products to avoid food fraud. In this study, a widely targeted metabolomics based on ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry combined with multivariate statistical analysis was used to distinguish the geographical origin of Pinggu Peach of Beijing and its two surrounding areas in Heibei province (China). Orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) based on 159 identified metabolites showed significant separation from Pinggu and the other adjacent regions. The number of the most important discriminant variables (VIP value >1) was up to 62, which contributed to the differentiation model. The results demonstrated that the metabolic fingerprinting combined with OPLS-DA could be successfully implemented to differentiate the geographical origin of peach from small-scale origins, thus providing technical support to further ensure the authenticity of geographical indication products. The greenness of the developed method was assessed using the Analytical GREEnness Metric Approach and Software (ARGEE) tool. It was a relatively green analytical method with room for improvement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Highly infective pathogens are cultured and studied in biosafety laboratories. It is critical to thoroughly disinfect these laboratories to prevent laboratory infection. A whole-room, non-contact, reduced corrosion disinfection strategy using hydrogen peroxide was proposed and evaluated. AIM To evaluate the bactericidal efficacy of 8% and 10% vaporized hydrogen peroxide( VHP) in a laboratory setting with spores and bacteria as bioindicators. METHODS Spores of B. atrophaeus and B. stearothermophilus, along with bacteria E. coli, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis were placed in pre-selected locations in a sealed laboratory and an OXY-PHARM NOCOSPRAY2 vaporized hydrogen peroxide generator was applied. Spore killing efficacy was qualitatively evaluated, and bactericidal efficacy was quantitatively analyzed, and the mean log10 reduction was determined. Finally, the optimized disinfection strategy was verified in a BSL-3 laboratory. FINDINGS Significant reductions in microbial load were obtained for each of the selected spores and bacteria when exposed to VHP in concentrations of 8% and 10% for 2~3 h. S. aureus was found to be more resistant than E. coli and S. epidermidis. Tests with 8% hydrogen peroxide and exposure for more than 3 h completely killed B. atrophaeus on surfaces and equipment in the BSL-3 laboratory. CONCLUSION The vaporized hydrogen peroxide generator is superior in terms of good diffusivity and low corrosiveness and is time-effective in removing the disinfectant residue. This study provides reference for the precise disinfection of air and object surfaces in biosafety laboratories under varying conditions.

Abstract
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common peripheral vascular disease. Secondary pulmonary embolism (PE) caused by DVT leads to substantial patient death. Inflammation has been suggested as a key factor in the pathophysiology of DVT, however, involvement of pyroptosis-related inflammatory factors in DVT formation remains unclear. Here, we proposed that post-transcriptional modification of caspase-1 might be a crucial trigger for enhanced pyroptosis in vascular endothelial cells (VECs), and consequently contributed to severer symptoms in DVT patients. In order to explore the involvement of pyroptosis in DVT, peripheral blood mononuclear cells were collected from 30 DVT patients, and compared with the healthy controls, we found caspase-1 was increased both in mRNA and protein levels. miRNA microarray analysis demonstrated that down-regulated miR-513c-5p was significantly negatively correlated with the expression of caspase-1. In vitro assays suggested that miR-513c-5p overexpression could ameliorate the expression of caspase-1, and thus decreased the production of cleaved gasdermin D (GSDMD) and interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18 in VECs. The dual-luciferase reporter assay identified direct binding between miR-513c-5p and the 3′ untranslated region of caspase-1 encoding gene. The administration of miR-513c-5p mimics through tail vein injection or caspase-1 inhibitor (vx-765) by intraperitoneal injection remarkably decreased the volume of blood clots in vivo, whereas miR-513c-5p inhibitor aggravated thrombosis formation and this effect was dramatically weakened when treated in combination with vx-765. Collectively, these results revealed that the pyroptosis of VECs induced by decreased miR-513c-5p was involved in DVT progression and indicated a potential therapeutic strategy of targeting the miR-513c-5p/caspase-1/GSDMD signal axis for DVT management.

Abstract
Objective Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and kyphoplasty (PKP) have been widely used to treat osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF), but the risk of vertebral re-fracture after PVP/PKP remains controversial. This study aims to investigate the incidence and risk factors of vertebral re-fracture after PVP/PKP. Methods Relevant literatures published up to November 2021 were collected from PubMed, Embase and Web of Science. A meta-analysis was performed to extract data associated with risk factors of SVCF following the PRISMA guidelines. Also, pooled odds ratio (OR) or weighted mean difference (WMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated. Results A total of 23 studies, encompassing 9372 patients with OVCF, met the inclusion criteria. 1255 patients (13.39%) suffered re-fracture after PVP/PKP surgery. A total of 22 studies were from Eastern Asia and only 1 study was from Europe. Female sex (OR = 1.34, 95%CI 1.09–1.64, P = 0.006), older age (WMD = 2.04, 95%CI 0.84–3.24, P = 0.001), lower bone mineral density (BMD, WMD = − 0.38, 95%CI − 0.49–0.26, P < 0.001) and bone cement leakages (OR = 2.05, 95% CI 1.40–3.00, P < 0.001) increased the risk of SVCF. The results of subgroup analysis showed the occurrence of re-fracture was significantly associated with gender (P = 0.002), age (P = 0.001) and BMD (P < 0.001) in Eastern Asia. Compared with the unfractured group, anterior-to-posterior vertebral body height ratio (AP ratio, WMD = 0.06, 95%CI 0.00–0.12, P = 0.037) and visual analog scale score (VAS, WMD = 0.62, 95%CI 0.09–1.15, P = 0.022) were higher in the refracture group, and kyphotic angle correction ratio (Cobb ratio, WMD = − 0.72, 95%CI − 1.26–0.18, P = 0.008) was smaller in Eastern Asia. In addition, anti-osteoporosis treatment (OR = 0.40, 95% CI 0.27–0.60, P < 0.001) could be a protective factor. Conclusion The main factors associated with re-fracture after PVP/PKP are sex, age, bone mineral density, AP ratio, Cobb ratio, VAS score, bone cement leakage and anti-osteoporosis treatment, especially in Eastern Asia.

Abstract
Background and Purpose To investigate the effect of prior ischemic stroke on the outcomes of patients hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and to describe the incidence, clinical features, and risk factors of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) following COVID-19. Methods In this population-based retrospective study, we included all the hospitalized positive patients with COVID-19 at Wuhan City from December 29, 2019 to April 15, 2020. Clinical data were extracted from administrative datasets coordinated by the Wuhan Health Commission. The propensity score matching and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to adjust the confounding factors. Results There are 36,358 patients in the final cohort, in which 1,160 (3.2%) had a prior stroke. After adjusting for available baseline characteristics, patients with prior stroke had a higher proportion of severe and critical illness and mortality. We found for the first time that the premorbid modified Rankin Scale (MRS) grouping (odds ratio [OR] = 1.796 [95% CI 1.334–2.435], p < 0.001) and older age (OR = 1.905 [95% CI 1.211–3.046], p = 0.006) imparted increased risk of death. AIS following COVID-19 occurred in 124 (0.34%) cases, and patients with prior stroke had a much higher incidence of AIS (3.4%). Logistic regression analyses confirmed an association between the severity of COVID-19 with the incidence of AIS. COVID-19 patients with AIS had a significantly higher mortality compared with COVID-19 patients without stroke and AIS patients without COVID-19. Conclusions Coronavirus disease 2019 patients with prior stroke, especially those with the higher premorbid MRS or aged, have worse clinical outcomes. Furthermore, COVID-19 increases the incidence of AIS, and the incidence is positively associated with the severity of COVID-19.
